Central Valley High School [OOC | CLOSED]

WELCOME TO CENTRAL VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL
Image
<<<LINK TO IC-THREAD>>>

Hello, and welcome to Central Valley High School! Have you wondered what it would be like to participate in a high-school themed RP? There have been a few attempts in the past, with many of them bogged down in a politicized 'factional' system or the like. This is an open-ended sandbox world, with some occasional events to help set things into motion, where you are free to create your own character and have him or her interact with fellow students, meandering through those awkward adolescence years. Will your character become the star player on Central Valley High School's football team, the captain of the cheerleading squad, the nerd who everyone seems to love to pick on, the student council president, the goth boy who keeps to himself, or just an average jane? The possibilities are endless, only limited by your own creativity and your own vision. Create your student now, and go have fun! Be careful though, because some other students might do anything to grow in popularity. You'd hate to be on the receiving end of a horrific prank! There is also homecoming to consider - and who doesn't want to be king or queen?

STUDENT BODY CLIQUES:

Everybody wants to be associated with certain, other people - am I right? Particularly in high-school! Here is a rundown of available options for your character:

- Geeks/Nerds: Every school has them, students who excel in academics - yet also may struggle in the social scene. The future is bright for them.
- Athletes: The jocks are sometimes a clique in-and-of themselves, they're usually the most noticeable on campus - for better or for worse.
- Hipsters: They're not the secluded types like some outsiders are, but they're definitely proud to be "different" from the rest of the student body.
- Drama-Kids: Every watched High-School musical? Yeah, that's these guys. Every single day. At least in their imaginations - and perhaps after school.
- Band-Kids: When you have a group come together, playing musical instruments, for just about every major school event - they tend to form a clique of their own.
- Preppies: Typically the largest of the groups, they're usually what you envision of stereotypical middle-class students. They're usually quite involved too.
- Outsiders: They tend to be either secluded, emo, goth, rebellious, anarchist, or some combination of the five. Heck, maybe even all of them.

*Note: This is primarily intended to help your characters associate and interact with like-minded students. If you have a suggestion for another "clique," post below and I will consider it.

CHARACTER ROSTER

FRESHMAN STUDENTS:
Corrian wrote:Character's Name: Agatha Amalric
Character's Gender: Female
Character's Grade: 9th (Freshman)
Character's Class: Core
Character's Birthday: 2/24/2002 (14)
Character's Personality: Agatha has a mischievous personality. She likes to sneak around and get up to no good, breaking into restricted areas, breaking curfew, and such like that, if applicable. Seems to be a bit rebellious in general and anti-authority, but not majorly so, like some people. Just seems to not be entirely willing to simply submit to them because they're her "superiors", though isn't completely rebellious against them, either. Besides the mischievous part, of course. As her personality goes, she's rather avoidant of people, and tries to shrug people off when they show any remote sign of interest in her. But she seems to be a decent person to be around once you crack through that shell of hers. Seems to be disconnected from her family, which seems to weigh on her more than she admits. Leans towards dark tendencies when it comes to decisions, and seems to get an enjoyment out of it, which she usually questions herself about later in the same day. This is the brunt of her personality, anyway.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths: 1. Core classes: English, Foreign Language, and the lowest of her "strengths", Math.
Electives: Automobile Repair, Woodworking, and Metalworking, because nothing else on the list really appealed to her.
2. Is good with stealth, from years of experience being a troublemaker in past schools, and at home.
3. Is a fighter, so in tough situations, she would not go down without a very big fight, if it came to it.
4. Likely could make some of the tough decisions, if she needed to, easier then others.
Weaknesses: 1. Science and history
2. Communicating with people. Its not that she has a social anxiety, she just has this habit of pushing people away, and makes herself suffer for it.
3. Seems to have a dark side, which is a weakness for her, as she has the potential to get caught up in questionable acts and enjoy herself more than she probably should be.
4. Has a bad habit of chewing her nails, especially when nervous.
Character's Appearance:
Character's Height: 5'4"
Character's Weight: 136 pounds.
Character's Clique: Outsider

STUDENT APPLICATION

Character's Name: Simon "Badman" Black
Character's Gender: Masculine Male
Character's Grade: Freshman
Character's Class: Core
Character's Birthday: 04/08/2001(15)
Character's Personality:
Patient and meticulous in his work, Simon follows the philosophy of slow and steady wins the race. He is academically decent but chooses not to apply himself only doing enough to get a passing grade in all his classes, he always does perfect on his test and class work but all teachers know to not even try to get him to do group or homework of any sorts and instead just give him an F for they know he won't even attempt. He can go into his head sometimes and become quite absent minded forgetting about the world around him, especially when he is writing in his journal which he does meticulously almost ritualistically. Regarded as a hot head by some being quick to anger and willing to throw down anywhere and anytime he's still got a very good poker face not showing his true colors until the right time catching others by surprise.

Cynicism is a trait that describes him well, he expects the worst and when something good happens he is pleasantly surprised. With that comes a sort of cruelty and mean spirit that has lead to him hurting those around him. Within his mind "might is right" and he has no duty to take shit from nobody, not even teachers. His early years as such were dominated by quick bouts of action and excessive savagery with lulls of boredom in between resulting in constant trouble. living in the dark shadowy recesses of what are referred to as the cracks within society has left him filled with a negativity that pervades in everything he does. He has contemplated suicide and has attempted it a few times the earliest being at the age of eight. His life seemingly has been a series of unfortunate events that have jaded him to the world and has led him to lead a rather closed off existence.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
- Excellent Street Fighter. Though not exactly well trained his extensive experience alongside his natural agility, endurance, and almost inhuman amounts of strength allow him to get the upper hand in most if not all confrontations he finds himself in.
- Street Knowledge. When the need arrives he knows how to hotwire a car or break down a door and in general the various skills necessary for a blue collar criminal.
- Strangely enough he actually enjoys and is good at history, and can do well enough to earn a passing grade in almost all other classes.
- Intimidation. He is undeniably a terrifying kid who even the teachers are wary of fucking with too much. He walks into a room and everybody who ain't stupid knows to keep their heads down. The amount of power he can exert over others is stunning at times with kids twice his size being known to not be willing to take him on. In a way he is a human honey badger.
- Persistence. Patient and with the will to keep at it he has a tendency to persevere till he achieves whatever he sets his mind to. Whether this be taking down another kid or simply reading a chapter in a book matters little. This is assuming he sets his mind to it which is not a given.
Weaknesses:
- Kinda a loser. He is the type who only does what is necessary and little more. Long term ambitions are null with the most he cares for being to get to the next day.
- Authority. Poor relations with and hostile attitudes toward it lead to him getting into trouble a lot. Detention, reprimands, poor grades, and heck even arrests are not an uncommon thing for this young man. Butting heads with the man is inevitable for this one.
- Socially awkward. Loaded with strange quirks and isms, and lacking much in the way of social grace leads to a rather isolated individual. Few friends and allies and his difficulties in holding a decent conversation are to a degree a direct result of this.
- Math. Can't do it no matter if he tries, so he doesn't try at all. Sure he can do basic arithmetic and understands fractions but complex things like algebra fly over his head.
- Quick to anger. Can lead to quite a bit of trouble real quick.
Character's Appearance:
Image
Light Bronze skin with a short red hair. He stands at an amazing 5'4 sporting a stocky frame of 160 lb. On much of his body and especially within his arms and torso one will find a rather impressive array of scars, burns, and old bruises. A testament to a rather rough upbringing. One will find a distinctive lack of piercings or tattoos, not his style, and the fact that his attire is rather simply composed mostly of polo shirts and mildly baggy jeans. A rather interesting trait is his belts. Simon has a got a thing for big buckled cowboy belts so one should expect that.

Character's Height: 5'4
Character's Weight: 160

STUDENT APPLICATION

Character's Name: Victoria Bellafontaine
Character's Gender: Female
Character's Grade: Freshman
Character's Class: Honors
Character's Birthday: (12/25/2001)
Character's Personality: Victoria is a beautiful, intelligent, and quiet young girl who fondly enjoys reading and pursuing academics. While she prefers to keep to herself, and her studies, she does have a tight-knit circle of friends - who also act as her study group. Victoria does not have a particularly strong desire to date, rather she enjoys her current single-status and enjoys spending time with her aforementioned female friends (although she may consider it if the right offer comes around). Victoria also likes to spend a lot of time in the outdoors, having a fondness of nature, and is a strong feminist. She does not particularly care for athletics, but she does find running and swimming to be quite peaceful and enjoyable.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses: Victoria is a quiet individual, and is thus sometimes is the butt of pranks or jokes or (sometimes) even bullying. Victoria also does not have much of a skill in athletics, making PE a less-than-desirable class of hers, nor does she particularly enjoy English class. Victoria is not particularly a popular student, despite her beauty. However, she is an excellent student and performs very well in virtually every other class - sometimes making her a desirable study-partner or a major crush from various nerds and fellow academically-inclined students.
Character's Appearance: Victoria

Character's Weight: 115 bs

However, Alex is a new kid, and he's been to many different schools. It's very hard to get his trust, because he's had more than his fair share of bullies, but once you have it, he'll have your back.

Corrian wrote:Character's Name: Claudia Steinfeld
Character's Gender: Female
Character's Grade: 10th (Sophomore)
Character's Class: Honors in the ones that she excels at, potentially going into AP levels in some later years. Probably simply core level in the ones she's not so good at.
Character's Birthday: 10/17/2000 (15)
Character's Personality: Claudia tends to be a little bit of a quirky character. Not blatantly so like some people, but its there nonetheless. She has always been rather sociable, too, seeming to do well with groups of friends. Like, she prefers to hang out with people and groups of friends over any sort of isolation. So presumably, she just knows a lot of people here that she hangs out with, even if simply as background characters, as this is her 2nd year here and there is no way she would have gone a year without getting to know people. Seems to generally be a friendly sort, too. Maybe not overly so, but friendly nonetheless. Always rather fashionable, seemingly making personality statements, so to speak, with her styles of the day. Which change pretty much every day. While nice, does seem to fall into the whole crowd of big groups of friends sometimes, and does seem to get amusement as the suspense of others sometimes. Usually when they legitimately deserve it, though, but still not always the nicest thing. Isn't a fan of actual bullying in general, though. More gets amusement out of bullies sometimes getting what they deserve, or at people "trying too hard", sometimes involving trying to impress her. Has an ambitious personality, though doesn't seem to worry about working your ass off, either. Though she does plan to put a lot of effort into her dreams. Rarely gets outright angry, more annoyed then anything. Has romantic interests, and would someday like to have a boyfriend, get married, and maybe someday have kids and all that, but doesn't really go out of her way to find anyone, preferring it to happen naturally. Could probably be flirty when she wants to be, but doesn't go out of her way for it and would likely more leave it to flirtatious interactions with a boyfriend. Likes to party, though isn't really a fan of those big teen parties where everyone gets wasted and does stupid shit, preferring other types of parties. Doesn't mean she might not go to one to experience it, though.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:1. Core classes: English and Literature. History is neutral
Electives: French. And when she can, economics and speech. Preferably something fashion/cosmetic related if it exists, but if not, will actively teach herself in this regard anyway. YouTube does exist after all.
2. Has an interesting fashion sense, for herself, others, and in general.
3. Is rather good at speaking French. Maybe a bit redundant to mention that when her electives highlight is French, but I want to make it clear she speaks it pretty fluently, of what she knows so far.
4.Good with stuff like makeup, designing hairstyles, in the sense of putting it up and unique ways of doing that and making it look cool, and other various beauty related stuff.
Weaknesses:1. Math and science
2.Due to her standing in society, she seems to have a hard time relating to the poorer folk, even if she tries. Its not that she doesn't want to, but she just doesn't really try that hard, nor is she very good at it. A bit of conditioning that just kind of...happens from her social and economical standing.
3.May, without realizing it really, end up flaunting her wealth. Not like, in-your-face waving 100 dollar bills around, just how she's almost always wearing what looks like expensive designer clothes, likely wouldn't even hide the fact she had money and could just buy what she wants when around others, and such like that.
4.Seems a bit disconnected from reality a lot of the time. Not so much her personal reality, but others. It seems like she's not really in tune with their problems when she talks sometimes, or in touch with the world in general. Also kind of came from the style of her upbringing. Doesn't mean she doesn't care, though.
Character's Appearance:
Character's Height: 5'6"
Character's Weight: 128
Character's Clique: I would say preppy fits the closest for her, though I can't say how much she would want to associate with them all the time. Nonetheless, its the closest fit, as her parents are probably upper middle class to lower upper class, fit into some of the stereotypes as they pretty much buy their daughter anything she wants (though she does avoid being overly spoiled about it, luckily), and since Claudia is a wannabe fashion designer, she always goes to school dressed up fancy and nice in some weird/random outfits she puts together. For that matter, she has tons of clothes. So preppy seems the most appropriate fit.

Character's Name: Daniel Georges
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Grade: Sophomore
Character's Class: Honors
Character's Birthday: 09/02/2000
Character's Personality: Daniel is a raging liberal, a major social-justice warrior, and an advocate of green-peace. He doesn't tolerate what he perceives to be bullshit, either from his fellow students or from anyone from the "establishment" (teachers and administration, in this case). Rumor has it that he might even be homosexual, but he has denied any accusations of it quite vehemently up until this point. Daniel is an outspoken individual, and quite a stubborn one as well.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses: Daniel is a smart individual, but his brilliance is often overshadowed by the fact that he's usually getting himself into trouble or into debates with his fellow students. By far, his biggest weakness though is his inability to make friends and finding a place in the school student body. This despite the fact that some actually respect him for being such a strong fighter and debater, though they are usually finding themselves more in agreement with Daniel's arguments more so than anything else. Daniel is skilled at math, science, and literature while struggles at physical education, english, and history.
Character's Appearance: Daniel
Character's Height: 5'7
Character's Weight: 150
Character's Clique: Hipster/Outsider

Character's Name: Tyrus Battle
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Grade: Sophomore
Character's Class: Core/Honors Mix
Character's Birthday: (08/01/2000)
Character's Personality: As a sophomore, "Ty" is a very mature for his age. With many colleges already scouting him for his talents in basketball, he knows that he can't be like the other kids at school and goof around. Outside of basketball, Ty is a dedicated student who generally finds himself excelling in most classes. He tries to maintain his grades as best he can, usually he does so with flying colors, but there are some times he struggles. Teachers never complain about him, he often even jokes around with the teachers to establish a good relationship. With the limited time between athletics and schoolwork, Tyrus finds some time to hang out with his friends, although it is rare when he finally gets to.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses: Tyrus' height could be imposing on people he hasn't met yet, as he towers over others in the hallways, either making it hard to make friends or making a great conversation starter. He has a weirdly stupid sense of humor, which many others typically don't understand. Ty does best with history and struggles with math, but he generally does pretty well in most of his classes.
Character's Appearance: 4-Star Recruit, Tyrus Battle

Character's Personality: Davian is a very determined and positive person. He tries to encourage others and live his life the way he preaches to others about being happy and living life to the fullest. He is a devout listener of Lil B and encourages living a based life style. He tries to be friendly and on good terms with everyone but is very strict on who he considers a real friend. Growing up in a rough neighborhood Davian didn't fall into the "street life" it made him more aware and he tries to avoid it. His mother and father both raised him to work hard, be a decent person, and find happiness. While being the only child he wished for a sibling but has made connections with people around him. Loves to play rugby and has been playing for almost 5 years. Currently being watched by colleges with solid programs.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths: Devian is great at working with people and observing others. He learns people and their personality; what they show and what they actually are. Devian is a great rugby players and strong athlete. Strong classes include Science, Social Sciences, PE

Weakness: Devian tries to help but he doesn't always show his emotions and people don't really know if he cares which has cost him relationships. He also isn't the greatest public speaker, lacks organization, and procrastinates. Weak classes include Math and Language.

Kwadai wrote:Character's Name: Ilir Veseli
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Grade: Junior
Character's Class: Core
Character's Birthday: 03/12/2000
Character's Personality: Ilir is not the most extroverted person you'll ever meet, tending not to connect with larger groups and preferring smaller groups with whom he is close to. Furthermore, Ilir is also extremely independent, enthusiastic and creative, and enjoys a challenge. Giving up is often the last thing on is mind and follows an unwritten mental code of always finding a way to do something - or making one. Ilir loses patience fairly quickly and can be stubborn. He has a rebellious attitude as well and doesn't necessarily take well to being made do anything. Always one to prefer his own way of doing things, he doesn't like being made do otherwise. However this is also somewhat of a weakness, as sometimes when all options he can imagine seem to fail then he can get irrational and even reckless. This is part of the reason he moved schools this year.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses: He can speak Albanian fluently (whether or not that's a strength is debatable) and isn't easily shamed (unusual considering his shyness). He's intuitive and can adapt quickly to new surroundings. These skills have risen out of necessity largely due to the dubious lifestyle Ilir lived in for the last two years of his life before coming to this school.
On the flip side, he can tend to overreact, and while he is agile and quick, he is not the most physically strong and has a fear of isolation. Despite his past, Ilir is actually quite a sensitive guy. In terms of subjects, history and art are two areas where he does very well meanwhile falling down in the science related subjects, everything else lies somewhere in between.

Corrian wrote:Character's Name: Jolena Newton
Character's Gender: Female
Character's Grade: 11th (Junior)
Character's Class: AP
Character's Birthday: 6/12/2000 (16)
Character's Personality: Right off the bat, Jolena is rather sociably awkward. She has a hard time communicating to anyone coherently. Not always, but sometimes she barely makes sense. Because of this social awkwardness, when she tends to try and join in conversations, it usually failing miserably as she gets overridden by the more loud, and sometimes, obnoxious people, leaving her feeling sometimes lonely and isolated. Her being highly intelligent seems to play a part in this, as her brain sometimes is moving so fast that she practically speaks over herself. This can be her simply wandering off on a thought while speaking, thinking of her music, and so on. There is little about her that comes off as remotely rude, her seemingly being nothing but a sweet young girl who probably wouldn't hurt a fly. In fact, if she was a target of bullies, and she probably most definitely has been, it probably weighs her down because she isn't good with fighting back, physically or verbally. She doesn't really seem all that happy, but she doesn't appear to be that sad or depressed, either. Probably somewhere in the middle, with regular social anxiety attacks and such like that. Has strange quirky traits about her, as well. Isn't at all the flirty sort, but seems to value the idea of someday getting a relationship, being somewhat of a romantic. She feels like having a relationship would probably make her feel more comfortable with the world, having someone there by your side that always cared for you on the highest level. Seems to be the snuggling sort, comforted by snuggling up to people she cares about, especially in a relationship. Is a bit of a dreamer, hoping to someday release some of her own music, and maybe perform if she can handle it. Seems to be a hard worker in general on the things that she loves, though not entirely on her own will, as her parents seem to encourage hard work and "getting straight A's", sometimes making an already easily stressed and anxious girl even more anxious. Appears a little strange in general, but not in a bad way.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths: 1. Core Classes: Math, Science, and History. Average at English
Electives: Music related electives, and some computer stuff thrown in.
2.Has a high skill in singing, seemingly a natural at it, and seeming to highly enjoy this strength.
3.Is highly skilled in piano playing, but is also a multi-instrumentalist, being rather talented in a variety of instruments, and always interested in trying out and learning something new.
4.Seems to have an above average intelligence in general, easily remembering and storing information about some of the most random things that she knows.
Weaknesses: 1. Everything else class related, really.
2.As always seems to be the case, to be intelligent and super talented, there is usually a sacrifice. In her case, that would be social skills. She tends to be pretty awkward sociably, being rather introverted and just seeming socially nervous. Social anxiety, pretty much.
3.Has trouble making friends, and its not really for lack of trying. She actively wished she had some friends, but most of the time she can't strike up a conversation for her life, and a lot of the sociable people simply talk to each other instead, leaving her out, and she doesn't tend to put much effort into trying.
4.Has a stuttering issue at times, though not always super prominent. Especially seems to have this problem when she's thinking heavily and talking at the same time.
Character's Appearance: One Two Three
Character's Height: 5'5"
Character's Weight: 121 pounds
Character's Clique: Band-Kid, as she wants to be a musician, with likely a little bit of a mix of preppy. Very slight geek/nerd.

A smile would almost always be on his face, if not, his positivity displayed through body language. He was truly happy. At the turn of his teenage years, his father was kidnapped on a road trip in 2012 and starved to death during his capture. Five years later (Jan 2017), he discovered that his mother (of which he had previously not met) had been caught in a house fire somewhere in Wyoming. Devin was an only child and had been living with his father for most of his life, but when his father wasn't available, he'd have to stay with his abusive grandfather Hubert J. Grayson. Character's Strengths and Weaknesses: Devin is tough-minded and will never give up without a fight, he is incredibly strong and well-built and has learned to control his anger. He is quick, agile and confident. He is particularly strong in Physical Education and Music. However, he is not the most intelligent person in the world and doesn't think things through enough. Living with a clingy younger sister and her less-than-willfully-accommodating foster parents, in addition to her increasing academic expectations and growing workload both at school and at home, have taken their toll on her over the years and she is now often seen struggling against her own limits to get every single little thing absolutely perfect, usually paired with a forced smile and some well-choreographed small talk. This would perhaps be less surprising if Eleanor actually had a habit of raking in spectacular grades, which she certainly does not, somehow managing only acceptable marks in most classes and generally crashing hard on important test papers. In truth, she is a textbook stepford smiler, throwing out sarcastic remarks and good-natured comments so that people won't go pitying her and spreading the bad atmosphere around for everyone to breathe in, and the more she does it, the less convincing it seems.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:

Strengths
+ Very positive work ethic, always eager to do something productive and perform even the most unpopular tasks.
+ Mostly friendly and accommodating, usually willing to look past a lot of underlying problems in the process of making friends.
+ Generally excels in art and computer classes, a rare contrast to the usual fruits of her academic efforts.
+ Punctual, seldom misses meeting times by more than a minute or two and almost always arrives to class early.

Weaknesses
- Has a nasty habit of overworking herself, finds it extremely difficult to stop something until it's completely finished and totally immaculate. And then some.
- Poor team player, dislikes group activities and is often difficult to work with.
- Rarely stands out much academically, never usually gets particularly amazing grades in spite of her efforts (and they are some very big efforts, too).
- Can become overwhelmed when a lot of information needs to be processed in a short time, especially if it's during one of those mandatory group assignments.

Character's Clique: Preppy + Outsider (or some such, iunno)

Character's Gender: Male
Character's Grade: 12 (Senior)
Character's Class: Honors and a few AP classes
Character's Birthday: 01/21/1999 (17 at the time)
Character's Personality: Yusuf is almost always in seemingly high spirits. He's always happy, and happy to help people. This probably owes to having a good life at home, where his parents were loving and quite temperate. Although sometimes, they would be slightly too lenient in dealing with him, resulting in Yusuf getting into a few serious situations that could've been easily avoided. Other than that, his home life was enjoyable and happy. Throughout high school, he's kept his happy attitude about him, and is always trying to be friendly with all sorts of people, and is always trying to help in various school projects. He likes being sociable with other students, but more often than not will go back by himself where he can read or write, which are his hobbies.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
- Especially skilled at classes involving theology, history, or philosophy
- Well-liked by teachers for behaving in class
- Very kind and outwardly friendly to people
Weaknesses:
- Maths
- He has a tendency to focus on what he wants to do, rather than what classes he has (gets by in classes he doesn't like by cheating quite a bit)
- Usually naive and unaware of his surroundings, sometimes trusts people too much

Character's Appearance: Light brown skin, short and curly black hair, and dark green eyes

He regards other human beings in the same way that he regards schoolwork: as oftentimes trivial annoyances that need to be dealt with in the most efficient way possible. • Weaknesses
    • Math: While Henry has a great appreciation for mathematical studies, and understand their importance, he is clueless when he comes to the use and application of math.
    • Socially Awkward: When individuals are involved Henry is an expert, but as soon as you add two or three more people to the mix he is lost at how to convey his idea and knowledge. Character's Name: Jade Morison
Character's Gender: Female
Character's Grade: Senior
Character's Class: Honours
Character's Birthday: January 14th, 1999
Character's Personality:
(I would personally call this a bio)
Jade, would you like me to explain, or shall you?
"You act as if you know me better than I do!"
I do. I created you.
"Bitch please, you're not my dad."
I don't mean that. You're my intellectual property.
"Fine, you explain it."

Jade likes to believe she's the quiet, cute girl in class, and really the only true part is the cute one. She is not quiet, considering she's a little social butterfly. Being a straight up nerd appealed to her, and the whole outcast thing didn't seem real appealing either. The perfect middle ground? A hipster! She was uncool before being uncool was the cool thing. She had a Roomba before they were cool. She....
This is getting annoying.
Anyway, she fangirls over obscure anime characters and some band you have never heard of. She wears the t-shirts of some random techno band that so obscure it out obscures most obscure things. She plays keyboard. She "reads" all the time. She's an honours student. How do you get more hipster? By being a pretentious asshole, of course! Then again, all this maybe covering a dark hole in her past; a hole which shes put so much Flex Seal and duct tape over it may never be revealed. Or will it? Maybe somethings lay not as they seem, in Central Valley High School.
Character's Strengths:
Group Mentality: She is quick to a group, and is easy to make friends with. That's not always the best thing...
Computers: What would a good hipster be without a proficiency in computers and the internet?
Economics: She seems to thoroughly enjoy the math behind the economy, and stock trading. A hipster does need an obscure skill.
Character's Weaknesses:
Monophobia: Jade has a bit of an issue with being alone, and can't stand being the only one in a place. It doesn't matter if someone is in the other room, she just can not be alone. It would melt her down, so to speak.
Condescending Asshole: I find this to be the most self explanatory. She always knows more than you in a subject, no matter what. She's just the smartest, you know?
Physical Education: She's not exactly the strongest of people. And the whole athletics thing is just not on her level.
Character's Appearance: (Image)
Character's Height: 5'8"
Character's Weight: 134 lbs
Character's Clique: Hipsters

Character's Gender: Female
Character's Grade: Senior
Character's Class: Honors/AP
Character's Birthday: 12/14/1999
Character's Personality: No matter the situation, Olivia always seems to put some spring in her step. She is normally quiet, but is always eager to put her best effort into things she enjoys to do. Although humble herself, people consider her a prodigy, having excellent singing and acting skills even though she's only participated in school plays and musicals since her first years in high school. Some consider it ironic because of her tendency to be shy and reserved on the outside, but that doesn't stall her confidence. Alongside fine arts, she has a knack for technology. Her skills in computers, graphic design and programming have made her the leading stage manager and technical director every play the school may put on, unless she is cast in the show. However, she has a tendency to be lost in her thoughts and concentration when working.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths:
Math - Passes with flying colors just about all the time. While most of her classes are Honors level, she managed to get enrolled in an AP Calculus course at the start of her Senior year. Typically has to help most of her friends with math work.
Fine Arts - An acting and musical prodigy. Hopes to expand on performing arts and musical theatre after graduating, but unsure whether to major or minor in it. She is good at singing, dancing, and even playing the piano.
Computers - Despite her love for the arts, she likes computers and video games alike. She also took a liking to programming and the art design of computers, giving her a reputation of not only a performer for the school, but a technical manager as well. AP Studio Art is another class she is enrolled in, where she spends most of the time simply helping with yearbook design.
Weaknesses:
History - The lenient Honors level history teacher is the only thing that keeps her from obtaining a low grade.
Perfectionist - Has a tendency to only accept work that is near perfect. She despises group projects and often prefers to do school work herself.
Loner - Alongside her preference to work alone and manage things herself, she typically has issues getting to know people. She often sticks to hanging out and spending time with the people she already knows, and struggles to expand her zones of friendship.
Athletics - She is not a big fan of sports and is not very strong. She can hold her own thanks to dance classes over the past few years, but that's about it.

Character's Appearance: Face
Typically wears nice clothing

Character's Height: 5'5''
Character's Weight: 120 lbs
Character's Clique: A weird blend between Drama kids , Hipsters and Nerds, but leans more towards the first two.

Character's Name: Rick Palermo
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Grade: Senior
Character's Class: Core/Honors Mix
Character's Birthday: 03/17/2000
Character's Personality: Rick loves being around the ladies, and the ladies love being around Rick. The handsome schmoozer is also intensely into athletics, being the starting quarterback for Central Valley High School's varsity football team. When he's not busy flirting with the girls, he's working out and he's doing everything he can to become the understood "king" on campus. While gregarious, Rick secretly has a bit of an inferiority complex and has always been at-odds with his parents (particularly his father), and he does not let others into his personal life enough to know about either to much extent. The end result is that Rick has a lot of "shallow" friendships, and thus sometimes struggles with being a "true leader" on the football team - despite his position and his athleticism. Rick is not a fan of bullying, but he does not stop it out of fear for appearing "soft" to the other guys on campus. Rick is an avid fan of WWE and has a not-so-secretive disdain for insects.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses: Rick is an athlete, through-and-through, and is planning on becoming a professional football player someday. Rick tries his best to be a "man's man," an example of machismo, and is somewhat successful in putting up that imagine. Rick is best, academically, in Athletic PE (to nobody's surprise) as well as in foreign languages (French) and in literature. Aside from his secret fear of letting others down, Rick has a weakness for beautiful women and usually struggles in the other academic classes.

Character's Birthday: (04/15/2000)
Character's Personality: Sophia is a cute, quite, intelligent, and sweet girl who prefers to stay out of the drama and machismo that can sometimes dominate the culture of Central Valley High School. Yet, as much as she attempts to stay out of the dirt, people will always try to drag her into it - let it be friends, crushing boys, or envious girls. Sophia's naivety, perhaps, leads her to believe that through her humble example, she could influence some sort of change and make a positive difference in peoples' lives. Sophia's kindness, humbleness, and frequent role of "peacemaker," in contrast to the blatant "gotta prove myself" competitive mindset that many of her fellow students seem to have, gives Sophia at least a little bit of respect from the majority of students - and certainly with faculty. However, because Sophia does not particularly fit into the mold of a stereotypical high schooler, her content nature leaves her at peak-popularity and (perhaps even) certain exclusion from such significant honors like "homecoming queen" as awarded by vote from her fellow students. Sophia is naturally somewhat good at sports, but she prefers to dedicate her time and attention to things such as reading as well as keeping up with studying and homework. Sophia also enjoys to sing and play the piano, and she also has a very lovely singing-voice.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
- Strengths -
*Gets along with just about everyone, even if it's just a generic respect
*Good at most subjects, but particularly in history, science, and literature
*Easy-going, friendly personality - earning her a sort of "sweetheart" status
*Currently single (good for her pursuers)
- Weaknesses -
*Sort of naive and almost too idealistic in her relationships with others
*Can be labeled a "goody-two-shoes"
*Overthinks things sometimes
*Too trusting with others and, sometimes, too honest with her feelings with others
*Struggles a little bit with foreign language and mathematics courses

Paul has a tendency to enact strict disciplinary measures on his students, thus earning his nickname: "the bald eagle." However, despite this attitude, Mr. Smith is actually slightly more relaxed than Mr. Anderson and has lots of professional contacts. Many students who have excelled in academics and stayed on Mr. Smith's "good side" found themselves an excellent future reference. While Paul tries to keep a tight grip on students, he's fairly loose when it comes to faculty. Mr. Smith used to be a teacher and an ROTC instructor, but he was given a "promotion" (but, actually, it was to get him out of a classroom for being too totalitarian). Unfortunately for those students who think they can get away with schmoozing, Mr. Smith does not have much of a sense of humor for those sort of things... although he does give some hilarious and badass speeches during pep rallies, which does provide for a glimmer of hope.

Character's Personality: Mr. Anderson is the strictest teacher/assistant principal/disciplinarian at the school. The reason being is that he served in the Vietnam War, as well as serving in the military for many years as an officer. When he was honorably discharged as a veteran military officer, he went into college to study education - especially with regards to physical education. His staunch personality made him hated by many students when he started working at Central Valley High School. He tolerates no pranks, no bullying, and has a "No B.S." attitude plastered onto his face. Anderson eventually was promoted to be one of the assistant principals, especially in charge of disciplinary action. And under his watch, there are no rules to be broken - because breaking a rule is just asking for detention. Cause too much, and Anderson, in the past, has suspended students from going to Junior or Senior Prom.
Character's Appearance: Lieutenant-General Anderson in his glory days; Anderson, as he is today. The first picture sits proudly on his desk, and he'll often speak of the 'glory days' of being an officer and such.

You may now begin posting. Any characters created in similar RPs can be used here as well, considering that this is set in it's own universe.

Give it a day or two for the IC-thread to be posted.

Could I create a character that's one of/the only (depends on how large the school is) extortion for the yearbook? They would be a hipster-like outcast, but their position would place them at an interesting intersection for power and intrigue.

For 'class,' just one of the three class-tracks. The reason why I'm asking for that is because an athlete in core classes probably won't be interacting too much with a geek in AP.

True, I imagine most people will choose AP. I bet they'll be one or two "oh my goodness they're actually so smart" athletes.

I'm honestly fine with that, I just don't want there to be those guys who are student president, star quarterback, AP-student, involved in fifty clubs, etc...

The more realistic, the better.

How big do you envision the school as far as total attendance? 500 students total? 1,000? More?

I haven't decided yet, it'll depend on how many applicants this thing gets. I'd imagine it'll be a decently-sized school though, perhaps around 1,000.

Saint Ryvern wrote:STUDENT APPLICATION

Character's Name: Henry Tulane (most people call him by his last name)
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Grade: Senior
Character's Class: AP
Character's Birthday: (12/05/1999)
Character's Personality: Henry is a quirky guy, which has earned him his social status in high school and in many other places. He does not like many of the things that other people do, and he is very vocal about that. Dedication to work, school or otherwise, is important to Henry, but he regards homework with a sort of irreverence that makes him seem aloof and arrogant at times; he will be the last student to hand a test in because he decide to take a nap during it. He regards other human beings in the same way that he regards schoolwork: as oftentimes trivial annoyances that need to be dealt with in the most efficient way possible. However, when Henry discovers an activity or human being he truly enjoys he lets a clear passion shine through that affects everything else he is doing.
Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
  • Strengths
    • Photography
    • Art/Design (He is enrolled in AP Studio Art 2D Design and AP Studio Art Drawing)
    • Composition and Grammatical Expertise (He took AP English Literature and Composition junior year and scored a 4 on the exam)
    • Henry is taking AP Psychology, and is generally adored by the Social Science teachers at Central Valley because of his natural ability to understand other human beings.
    • Interviewing: Henry has a talent for drawing the information he wants, in the way he wants to hear it, out of people.
    • Skilled with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign (both programs used in the making of a school’s yearbook)
Despite his skill in psychology and sociology he is unable to apply that knowledge to real life, signalling the deeper issue he has with applying much of his practical knowledge.
    • Arrogance: Henry will often skip essential steps in a process because he has too much faith in his own ability to accomplish his goal.
    • Too Focused: Henry loves the Central Valley High School yearbook. He loves the yearbook so much that during the school year it is one of the driving forces behind his existence. If it’s a bad day for the yearbook, it is a bad day for Henry. The boy is too emotionally tied to the publication and its success.

I like it. I've got a few characters coming, including some faculty (such as the principal).

Character's Name: Devin Grayson ("Dev")

Character's Gender: Male

Character's Grade: 12

Character's Class: Core.

Character's Birthday: (03/09/2000)

Character's Personality: In the halcyon of his younger days (4 - 12yrs), Devin had a distinguished heir of exuberance and high-spirit. Grayson. He'd regularly beat and swear at him, sometimes even hurting him.

He is not very strong in Mathematics, Science or History. He tends to hide his true self from people, but when he does make friends and socialize, he makes sure that he doesn't mess it up.

Character's Appearance: Caucasian, short ruffled brown hair, and dark green eyes.

Character's Height: 6ft 2"

Character's Weight: 172lbs

Character's Clique: Outsider + Athlete

Is this supposed to be a replacement for Fairwood High School? Because if so, I'm in.

In fact, here's my application:

STUDENT APPLICATION

Character's Name: Alexander "Alex" Page
Character's Gender: Male
Character's Grade: Sophomore
Character's Class: AP
Character's Birthday: 7/19/2001
Character's Personality: Alexander is basically your stereotypical nerd: extremely smart, extremely horrible at gym, and extremely interested in science fiction. However, Alex is a new kid, and he's been to many different schools. It's very hard to get his trust, because he's had more than his fair share of bullies, but once you have it, he'll have your back.

Character's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths -
+ All classes (except gym)
+ Very smart
+ Very clever
Weaknesses -
+ Gym
+ Unpopular
+ Untrusting
Character's Appearance:
Image

Character's Height: 6'1"
Character's Weight: 150
Character's Clique: Nerds

1. You should probably switch height and weight.
2. Thank you for using the normal class system! Makes it so less confusing!

Not necessarily replacement, they're two different universes as far as RP is concerned. Your application is accepted.

Also, the page has been edited. Thanks for the head's up!

Hm, I decided to carry my character over from Fairwood as well:

Character's Name: Sophia Taylor
Character's Gender: Female
Character's Grade: Senior
Character's Class: Honors/AP Mix
Character's Birthday: (04/15/1999)
Character's Appearance: Picture One Picture Two
Character's Height: 5'7
Character's Weight: 125 lbs
Character's Clique: Preppies

I'm going to finish up my other characters and have them up tomorrow.

For some reason, I always have ideas for school RP characters, and in fact, I have many on backlog that I've barely used. So even though I'm currently in a school RP, and have been in multiple ones with multiple characters, I'll probably join this with (mostly) characters I haven't used yet to develop them further, since they're just sitting in backlog to have a use, or have been used but not enough to matter yet. I dunno why, but I always like school RP's. I like other types, too, but its a good way to develop more "normal" every day school people, which can be some of the best development to have.
