If all states suddenly split and go to war, who would win?

saw this on Reddit and was intrigued by the Concept, so i thought i would bring it over here to see what you folks thought.

I'm from Central Florida myself, so i reckon we'd be on the frontlines potentially. Florida would probably ally with the former confederacy. Texas would probably take over Oklahoma pretty fast. California and New York would dominate their immediate areas, the West coast and New England, respectively.

What do you guys think? What would happen to your state? Would you return to your native sod?

To be honest though, California's laws, or rather, the People's republic of California's laws and policies would lead it to ruin, which means that Texas, or potentially Alaska would come out on top.

Being from Missouri, we could probably take the plains pretty fast with our population of 6,083,672 and a Conservative government led by President and former Navy SEAL Eric Greitens. California would obviously dominate in the West, potentially forming a new united states with Nevada, Oregon, and Washington. I could see Utah expanding it's borders in the name of Mormonism. The New England Republic against New York would be interesting. The CSA will definitely come back, but a big question is how long it will last. That depends on how racist they choose to be. Texas may stay independent and I could see them aggressively expanding into New Mexico and Oklahoma. Colorado would be the Switzerland of North America, neutral and beautiful. The great lake states would probably unite.

It would depend on the circumstances of this split, but the most likely outcome would probably be a stalemate.

I doubt that any of the states have the economic ability to wage a war across the entire US. I certainly don't think that any state has the sustainment capacity to wage war across the entire US.

California and the New England states have the biggest populations, a fair amount of industry, and generally a greater degree of access to military (particularly Naval) equipment, but the massive famines on the East and West cost brought about by lack of access to Midwest farmland would very quickly become crippling.

For reasons related to the Civil War, a slightly excessive percentage of America's military bases are located in the Southern US, so they would inherit a lot of military hardware. If anything this probably makes their situation worse, since all of their neighbors are going to be similarly equipped. Their battles there are going to be more brutal.

Texas probably thinks they ought to win, but there are a couple of reasons I think this unlikely:
1) The last time Texas was independent, they did an objectively terrible job of running themselves, and
2) They seem like they're going to piss-off literally everyone, and make themselves the victims of a coalition. Hell, I bet even Mexico gets in on the fun.


Now are nukes a factor in this? Because that seems like it would very quickly bring an end to the whole thing. Of course everyone thinks that North Dakota has a ton of nukes, but by no means do they have them all, and - if anything - their reputation means that they're just going to get preemptively nuked that much harder. There are a few other states that have similar silo arsenals, but I'm not sure how to divvy up the weapons belonging to US Naval and Air Forces. For simplicity's sake, let's just say that every Ohio-class submarine goes to the State they're named after.

I don't think Cali(Commie)fornia could survive for long if the states de-united, so I think Texas would come on top (Or you know, New Jersey, Because nobody expects the New Jersey inquisition)

Seriously though, Russia or China or some other country might start getting ideas and try to conquer portions of the USA. California might become very powerful and gain quite a few allies. Hawaii may in all likelihood become independent. Same for Puerto Rico.

Texas may become the dominant state militarily in a Balkanised USA, while other states will gain allies abroad. For all I know, some people in the Old World may start advocating retaking the colonies.

Mexico may try again with Texas and south former USA, once they're more stable. Cuba may do something, as in using their medical expertise to gain favour with those who need it.
