The adjective is Savojar; Savojarnan is not a word!

Last Day Miracle

De Saint-Pierre really had a knack for finding the back of the net when he -- well -- shouldn't have

A strong defensive effort from the Kebecois side coupled with a strange score in the third period resulted in Kebec walking away with a key victory and assured the Junior Icers qualification into the WJHC 12 octofinals, keeping to Coach Philidor's promise of reaching the octofinals and keeping the Kebecois run alive, now, many wonder -- are the quarterfinals within grasp -- could we see a top-eight juniors team?

Kebec, keeping to its usual had quite a slow start to the third and final game of the group stage as the opening period saw Kaboomlandia go on the attack against a clearly warn out squad, it was notable that Coach Philidor had the third line start the game for Kebec, quite uncharacteristically for Philidor who was known for his steadfastness in the past, so, many were wondering why. However, the third-line held when it mattered, limiting the Kaboomlandian squad to six shots on goal the entire first period, alas, not taking any and focusing on clearing all thru the first. An altercation arose midway thru the first period between third-line right-wing Zachary Leloup and a Kaboomlandian defense-men, leading to a push-and-shove altercation between the two. Leloup after the first period said this was due to a high-stick from the Kaboomlandian that went uncalled by the referee for the match, resulting in a heated argument between the two -- we thank Odin it didn't escalate any more than it had prior to this as that would've been horrible for the young squad to have happen to them so early in this tournament. Leloup while not as talented as De Saint-Pierre is eyeing a move to the Ontorisan OHL in the summer, so, this would've hurt his chances quite a bit. Eckenburg State University, the college team for which Leloup plays for notably released a statement following the game in which it said, "We are appalled at the demonstration that took place between Zachary Leloup and the Kaboomlandian player, Mr. Leloup as a member of this university not only represents the nation of Kebec in ice hockey but also represents Eckenburg State University, this is utterly disrespectful and upon returning, Mr. Leloup will face administrative consequences."

The second period of the third game continued the largely defensive approach to offensive problems as Kebec maintained its clearing strategy, steering clear of any attempts by the Kaboomlandian side to penetrate the Kebecois defense as Kebec registered just three shots on goal during the second period of action. The second line lead by Francis Bain saw action during the second period, it ensured that Kebec didn't drop a goal during the second period, policing the ice and protecting the pipes for Désiré Gérard who wasn't battered nor fazed much during the second period. Of course, every once-in-awhile, a defensive lapse sent a Kaboomlandian player thru, however, at the end of the period, the score it what truly matters and the scoreboard said 0-0, this meant Kebec's hopes were still alive. Even still, a Kaboomlandian power-play yielded no goal for the Kaboomlandian side as a goal was called back following an icing call committed by the Kaboomlandian side, giving Kebec a needed break and helping them entering the third period -- truly, the goal called back took out much of the life from the Kaboomlandian side.

Wildred Pinchon and the first line finally had their chance to make their mark in the final period of play in which the top junior players of Kebec make up the ranks, this was the final test for a Kebecois side which was reeling from the 1-0 loss just three short days ago. The first line was quick to pounce on Kaboomlandia's tiredness as the Kaboomlandian line was quickly reaching its last legs, the fresh legs of the Kebec first line spelled doom for the Kaboomlandian side from the beginning. Lead by the charge from Kebecois junior star Fabien De Saint-Pierre, Kebec overcame seemingly insurmountable odds, managing a whopping twenty-seven shots on goal during the final period of play and giving Kaboomlandia a change of pace they surely weren't ready for. With six minutes left in the game, Fabien De Saint-Pierre received a pass Omer Daucourt, well more of slapshot than a pass but that's besides the point, he proceed to outmuscle a Kaboomlandian defender who was left chasing him -- or speed-skating at 26 rainbows per hour, depending on how you see it... This lead to a one-on-one opportunity with the Kaboomlandian goal-keeper, and, all it took was -- and this is a basketball term mind you -- a flick of the wrist. And it was history.

After the games, while toweling off, De Saint-Pierre was a different man, gone was the cockiness of the first game and the snobbish arrogance of the second game, replaced with a calm leadership that the team had been lacking from him during the tourney. He solemnly told us, "The team came together when it mattered, now we must turn to a bigger and better thing, and that's the octofinals, I believe we have it in us to quite possibly win the octo's and then... Who knows?"

Coach Samuel Philidor, the Elejamian brought in to whip these young whipper-snappers into shape told the press in his native Elejamian, "This is a team that I am glad I have a chance to coach -- I believe that I can and will make them into one machine, a scoring machine. Fabien De Saint-Pierre is a beautiful player, he is certainly going places, whether he realizes it or not, slowly, but surely, he is becoming a better teammate. He needs to know and understand what it is to be a team mate, and, I believe, however Kebec finishes, he will learn that by the end of this tourney."

Finally, there are rumors swirling that Zachary Leloup wants out on Eckenburg State University and wants in on

Zachary LeLoup matching up against a Kaboomlandian forward at WJHC 12

Its a rather depressing day for the Leloup hosehold.

Zachary Leloup is certainly not the captain nor is he close to being the alternate-captain of the Kebec U21 international ice hockey team for the foreseeable future, Coach Philidor has made that clear during the course of this tournament that Philidor is not the next coming of the senior Leloup, Mathéo Leloup, a defender for the Larvana Reds of the Kebecois IHNL. There's no doubt that the Leloup family has pioneered the hockey scene in Kebec and blazed a path for those it gives its blessings too -- that's why its so surprising that in Kebec, Zachary Leloup is the ultimate outcast on the scene. A formerly heavily recruited ice hockey talent, the Eckenburg State University commission has announced his expulsion effective immedietly following the third game of the twelfth edition of the World Junior Hockey Championships, Eckenburg Mountain, his home for more than eighteen years is now casting him out to the wolves. Zachary Leloup however does have hope, while not nearly as talented as his senior national team brother Mathéo, Zachary however does have a different skill-set that can help him in toe OJL -- the Ontorisan top-flight hockey league where he is confirmed to be headed. OJL league sources have confirmed that Zachary Leloup has secretly confirmed for the OJL 96th Draft to be seen when the 95th season of OJL hockey draws to a close.

Leloup is surely above the caliber of the Kebecois domestic league, the IHNL -- that's precisely the reason why no team dared to propose a contract with him in Kebec, he would've simply refused it, now, a chance to get a contract from an OJL side might be enough to make him wet his pants. The OJL is a premier league for many young stars, no Kebecois player has ever come close to scratching its surface, much less an eighteen year-old collegiate star, the prospect of seeing a Kebecois in the league is astounding. This is the league many dream of playing in, while Leloup is certainly not the offensive star of Fabien De Saint-Pierre, nor is he the defensive wizard of his older brother, Mathéo, it is for certain that he is perhaps a commodity in the OJL. An able defender who knows how to and when to score.

"I'm proud of what I've done in my short time at Eckenburg State, it truly saddens me that the team is unwilling to see past this altercation that I was unfortunately involved in", said Leloup to the visiting Kebecois press. "The community of Eckenburg has quite simply forgotten of me and I am now trash ready to be disposed of to them, my hometown has willingly abandoned me. The OJL gives me a chance, a chance I am willing to take."

A source from the Eckenburg Sate University department of admissions who wished to remain anonymous told us, "[ Zachary ] Leloup has continually proven to be a hindrance rather than an asset to not only this university but its sporting image, on and off the ice, the university can not sit ideally buy and allow for Leloup to demonstrate this derogatory behavior.

Leloup has also stated that, if signed, he wishes to move immediately from the city of Eckenburg Mountain to the city of the team that drafts him in the OJL, a risky gamble, will the senior national team or the junior national team still want him if he abandons Kebec entirely?

SPORTS WORLD - ONTORISA
Cauja Throws a Wrench in the Plans, and a Few Punches
A hard fought 1-0 loss for the Falcons left them both bruised and hungry for a win against their fledgling rivals
Image
Tempers flair between the Caujans and Ontorisans, more or less due to the pest Ari Jasvik

If Ari Jasvik wanted to have his name known by the OJL, he does now.

After a strong WJHC performance so far by Jasvik, the Caujans were coming up against the red hot Ontorisans. Two completely different teams in terms of hockey background, culture and team mentality. The Caujans believed a strong defence and heavy physical punishment could withstand any offence, and the Ontorisans believed that a well-rounded team with skilled players who can find gaps and holes in their opponents' defence could win them the game.

Marc-Andre Cassenault enters the game, scoring 3 goals in his past 2 while Ari Jasvik has been the offensive demon for the Caujans, scoring both of their goals in the past 2 games. Nawis Tolomoki, despite his lack of point production, has been playing well defensively. Mikael Voloskov, despite being a top OJL prospect, has struggled to generate any points and was demoted to the 3rd Line during practice, Jakob Thallsthrad taking his place on the 2nd Line.

The 1st Period was a very physical period, with Petr Rakystak laying a huge hit on Tomas Wasjark, which prompted a scrum. In reply, Ewolk Sangrasard laid a huge hit on Tomas Sacivik, prompting another gathering and a couple of obnoxiously loud chirps from Caujan player Ari Jasvik, noted both for his two-way play and his pest-like playing nature. Of course, Luc Therrien quickly settled down Jasvik on his next shift with a thunderous hit that could be heard throughout the arena.

With the 1st Period drawing to a close, it was only customary that the two countries exchanged players in a scrap. Caros Bautinski, the 18-year old forward originally from Yakisja, versus Tiar Naprizar, the 18-year old from Halmoshyad. While a brief fight that the left both combatants bloodied, the Caujans appeared to have gotten the most motivation out of it as Ari Jasvik scored a few seconds before the 1st Period ended, on a rebound goal from a point shot by Pokka Helmsteris.

The 2nd Period didn't fare to well for the Ontorisans, as Terry Slavik (who was drafted in the 6th Round in this past OJL Entry Draft) shut the door on all of the Ontorisan chances, one of them being a highlight reel save by the 19-year old, going from one end of the net to the other, robbing Azwaj Sayatamir of a goal. Tomas Emmiskard cannot be discounted either, as he was also responsible for some key saves to keep Ontorisa in the game, stopping a fancy move by Frik Halijerit as well as a point shot from Ulmar Gradersilium that was deflected three times. During the 2nd Period, multiple scrums broke out, thanks to Ari Jasvik, who had a total of 11 penalties at the game's end. An argument between Mathieu LeChance and Ari Jasvik got heated during one of said scrums and the two ended up dropping their gloves, LeChance coming out on top delivering a knockout punch to Jasvik.

The 3rd Period was anything but pretty, filled with mostly hits, scrums, chirping and eventually an enormous conflict near the end after Slavik was near run into goal by a speedy Azwaj Sayatamir, with Helios Kryitkem going after Sayatamir in a brief fight that saw them both receive 5 minute majors for fighting and 10 minute game misconducts. The game ended rather suddenly, with both sides begrudgingly agreeing to leave the bad blood on the ice, as highlighted by Timur Xyullerk and Ulmar Gradersilium, who posed for a photograph after the game.

"We have to learn how to adapt to the situations that are thrown at us." Xyullerk said after the game. "We can't afford to throw away 2 points like that. These games are gonna only be getting harder and harder, so we gotta smarten the hell up and figure ourselves after."

On a brighter note, Tomas Emmiskard has a tournament leading Goals Against Average of 0.37 and a Save Percentage of 0.983.

“Good evening, Neu Engollon and to our International viewers. I'm, Karl Demais, your host here on the NETV 7 Sports Update. We're coming to you live from the World Junior Hockey Championships in Sjoedrhavn and Thorsborg in Savojarna. The Junior Ibex have been doing very well here, to the surprise of a few, but not those who know that Neu Engollian ice hockey is on the rise. We'll cover that in a moment, but for now let's just wonder that the Junior Ibex have made it as far as they did here.

The latest victory was over RIPlania, five points to their two. Sudait, Montalvo and Goetz were instrumental players in the game, making some incredible plays in order to shut down the RIPlanian offense. Güldenstädt had the first goal, while Montalvo had the next two, and Schneider and Goetz had the last two scores, respectively. The Junior Ibex seem to be in good spirits and fresh to take on their next opponents.

The Junior Ibex will face Piranhastan at the Stadion General Harden in their Octofinals match. Thank you for staying tuned to the NETV 7 Sports Update. Coming up after the sponsor break, we'll cover more Winter Olympics news and a preview of the upcoming Rugby Union World Cup..."
TG me with questions if you got some, especially about GE&T or PMCs.

Biancavilla Tops The Redvale, Gets Number One Seed in Octofinals

In a rather exciting day for Biancavillan athletics, the Biancavilla Junior Hockey team has defeated The Redvale 3-1 after an impressive offensive showing and good defending.

The game started off with a goal from Biancavilla's first-line left winger, Hasan Musa. Musa was able to chip in the goal after a 2-on-1 opportunity arose with him, the goalie, and Biancavillan first line center, Ezekiel Belmonte. Right off the bat, The Redvale's defense was showing signs of weakness, with Biancavilla's forwards speeding past them, creating many scoring opportunities. The Redvale showed some spark when their right winger nearly chipped in a one-timer from their defenseman, but goalie Felix Suess was able to just catch it with his glove. As the first period was coming to a close, Wolf Huffmann, Biancavillan second-liner, beat out The Redvale's goalie's glove just barely, extending Biancavilla's lead to 2-0.

The second period was fairly uneventful, until Biancavillan second-line defenseman Reyes Cuesta got put in the box for slashing, giving The Redvale a powerplay. Cuesta was seen arguing with referees before he finally skated to the box. They capitalized, keeping a tired Biancavillan powerplay defense on the ice and managing a goal in the upper-left corner of the net with just 15 seconds left in Cuesta's penalty. Cuesta was seen receiving a firm talking-to from Manager Pan, and did not play the rest of the game, instead replaced by Olaf Pokorny of the third line. Despite this change, the Biancavillan team would not give up another score or another penalty.

The Redvale dominated possession of the puck in the third period, but good defending and a solid performance by Felix Suess prevented any further scoring. In the final five minutes of the game, a goal from third-line center Zahir El-Amin would pretty much put the nail in the coffin. The game ended with a 3-1 victory for Biancavilla.

Manger Pan mentioned in a press conference possibly switching up some of the line orders if certain behavior continues, although he doubts it will get that far. He also said he was impressed with Suess' performance, although Kasabian will start again in the Octofinal game again sixteenth-seeded Siberia North in Sjoedrhavns Stadsstadion. Many in Biancavilla are thrilled with the team's performance and their first-seeded ranking.

Goals:
Musa, assist from Belmonte & Haagen-Dazs
Huffmann, assist from Singletary & Cote
El-Amin, assist from Adam & Nanuq

Ice Cube Weekly - Kebec
The Formidable Foe

Image
Coach Philidor third coaching outing against Kaboomlandia

Kebec U21 national ice hockey team coach Samuel Philidor certainly has his hands fool and its not because of mixed-up translations by his translator -- its because of the looming giant that is and will forever be Novaya Zemlya.

Samuel Philidor is no doubt a top-caliber coach, an Elejamian by origin, he guided the Elejamie City Ice Elephants to an 8th-place bid in the EIHL playoffs and the last spot in a season where they had been expected to crash and burn. Hockey Kebec, the governing federation of all forms of hockey in Kebec was quick to cast Philidor as the missing piece to the newly-assembled junior Kebecois player -- despite the challenges of interpretation, the Elejamian has proven from the get-go that he is perhaps the leadership this young cast needs and has the skillset to lead them well. The Kebecois team is not the next coming of the Cauja junior team which reached the WJHC XI finals before losing to a relatively unestablished side from West-East Timor. Samuel Philidor however has kept the team steady thru three games, guiding Kebec and its starts to a 2-0-1 showing thus far, a good record for a team just formed, as such, they are currently seeded in 11th place. There is now a team standing in their way -- probably one of the best teams to ever take the ice -- the U20 national ice hockey team from where else? -- Novaya Zemlya.

We had hoped and prayed to Odin to avoid ever playing the Novozemlyan squad from up north, but lo and behold, out of all the sixteen teams placed before us, it seems Novaya Zemlya will be the one to dig our grave later today. It truly is a damper on what could've and I resiliently say, should've been a wonderful tournament run for us, I believe if perhaps fate aligned and we played region-mates New Lusitania and the Algraves, we could've walked away with a victory. Now, we are promised a sure-fire exit from one of the top teams in junior hockey, never mind the havoc their senior team has caused -- do not be confused by their identical record to us -- well technically, you should be confused would should've been an easy 3-0 domination of their group actually was a 2-1 roundhouse kick of a group-stage thanks in part to the nation of Piranhas. Piranhastan was nice enough to hand the Novozemlyan squad a 1-0 loss on the final day of the group stages, to bad Purple Rabbits were unable to deliver and chip in a defeat of their own, perhaps that would've eliminated the Novozemlyans from the tourney and would've drawn Kebec against a less-punishing team. Novaya Zemlya will be guick out of the gate, that's their game, they rely on a stun-attack early on before settling into a defensive battle with their sole goal to edge out the other team. They will do anything to ensure that their goalie will receive a limited amount of shots from Fabien De Saint-Pierre and will look to crack Zachar Leloup's seemingly impenetrable wall early on. No doubt Novaya Zemlya will spend time reviewing Biancavilla's upset-victory over Kebec -- that will serve as a key strategy later tonight for the Novozemlyan team as it heads onto the ice for the game. Thor's Den will play home to the match for Kebec -- perhaps, it is fate, the name of the stadium is Thor's Den and here in Kebeec we do worship the Gods of Asgard as all their wonderfulness, so perhaps, Thor has found a way to shine down on us from the Glass House and perhaps this will prove the ultimate test for us.

Finally, Zachary Leloup was absent from morning warm-ups according to team sources, this is notable as the ninety-sixth OJL Entry-Draft -- the Ontorisan ice hockey league -- took place yesterday during the afternoon. According to league sources from the OJL and Leloup's personal agent, in the seventh round, Zachary Leloup, star defense-man for the Kebec U21 national ice hockey team, was takened 202nd overall by the Arugo Olympains via a trade with the Kelixsburg Legionnaires via a trade with the Asza Royals and via a trade with the Dejekus Oracles. The Olympians are not a bad team in the OJL -- they're mid-level, finishing eleventh in last year's standings according to the draft reports -- this however confirms Zachary Leloup is truly leaving Eckenburg State University and will not be back to lead the squad next season. Leloup and Eckenburg State University -- no the entire city of Eckenburg Mountain have been at odds ever since the scramble between him and the Kaboomlandian player, at which today, he refused to comment on the incident, however, he told the press concerning him being drafted, "I look forward to working towards my dream of playing in the OJL, the Olympians are a great team and I hope for them to be my adopted team moving forward, we have a lot to learn from each other and we can certainly compliment each other and go all the way. Who knows, we could be in the Champions League, dreams are rampantly abound!"

Concerning the upcoming game against Novaya Zemlya, Coach Philidor thru an Elejamian translator told us after morning warm-ups, "Our team, while we don't have the name that the Novosemlyans have established for themselves, we do have the coordination and the will to outlast an attack from the Novozemlyan side, we have the willpower to guide ourselves around the precarious path to a quarter-finals match-up. There are many things to exploit about the Novozemlyan squad, from their inefficiency on defense -- giving up six goals during the group-stages to their power-plays being their only offensive advantages. Secondly, the teams that they did play proved to be weaker teams, perhaps this is what we need, a true test for Kebecois hockey."

In other major WJHC XII news, Biancavilla rolled over The Redvale en route to a 301 victory, giving them the first place seed in the tournament and cementing their bid for the Cinderella story of the tournament. Kaboomlandia and Michael Myers, their coach was unable to stop Kebec, thus eliminating them from the Octofinals, this isn't much of a surprise as the Kaboomlandian squad has been on a downward trend for the past two WJHC's. Cauja edged Ontorisa in the Battle of the Den -- two formidable powers, one last tournaments second-placers and the other a quarter-finalist in WJHC XI. Savanorja, the hosting nation and a nation which prides itself in its ice hockey barely snuck into the octofinals, squeaking out a tie against Musterfield, an upstart team to get into the octofinals, Meanwhile, New Engollon and the Junior Ibex took a stroll thru their group and finished undefeated with one tie and a 5-2 thrashing of RIPlandia.

ANNOUNCEMENT: WJHC 12 All-Star Game (OOC)
As I announced at some point there will be an all-star team playing a match in Sjoedrhavn against the all-star team of Savojarna's SHS. The goal scorers of both sides and some of the goals will be RP'd/determined by me (I will set both teams on +4 to match the usually high scoring of all-star games, so detail of goal RP'ing may vary depending on number of goals), but everyone with a player on the squad is free to RP them as well. The game will be scorinated the day after the final OR the day later, depending on my workload on that particular day. It might be an interesting place to showcase your prospects!
SELECTION METHOD:
Every team that submitted a roster (16) will have at least one player picked. If the nation has RP'd, I will attempt to stick to the RP as much as possible, but if teams only submitted a roster I will pick a random player of the first line(s). If the roster indicates anything about notable prospects etc I will choose among those. The other spots on the team will be filled based on RP. If you wish a certain player to represent you in the all-star game, notify me by telegram! The SHS All-Star team is selected by me and unveiled at some point between now and the semifinal, depending a bit on my time.

Ice Cube Weekly - Kebec
The End of the Beginning

---

Image
Wilfred Pinchon Lets One By

The loss is better than it seems, contrary to popular opinion -- despite giving up five goals, the Kebec U21 team, the Junior Icers were able to cause enough havoc on the Novozemlyan junior team to give hope for the next era of Kebecois hockey. Fabien De Saint-Pierre, the star of the Kebec side was able to score two goals, increasing his goal tally to six in the back of the net thru four games, a a .66 goals per game average.

Its not that the Kebec team is terribly bad, its just that, its Novaya Zemlya, the chance of beating a team that finished fourth-place in the last edition and a team as strong as Novaya Zemlya, its quite low despite popular belief that Kebec is destined to win everything. The Novozemlyans are the pioneers of ice hockey alongside others including Elejamie and Ontorisa, Kebec? -- its simply an upstart in the hockey-ing world, its nothing to admire. The first period showed that Kebec had been thoroughly deflated -- Wildred Pinchon was put between the pipes, perhaps a bad move on Coach Philidor. Pinchon was unable to last more than ten minutes as seven minutes into the game, Novozemlyan center, Zinoviy Zaytsev came flashing thru the zone, a hook-shot was all that was needed to beat Pinchon by a fraction of a second -- giving the young Novozemlyan squad a lead that they refused to relinquish. Two minutes later, a simple slapshot from Novozemlyan first-line defense-men Rando Puhlev bounced off the pipes into Pinchon's pads and fell into the goal -- that shot was more or less one that was truly unlucky for Kebec as truly fate made that one slip in unnoticed. The third goal and nail in the coffin came just seconds before first-half intermission, a streaking Polikarp Novokshonov, a star left-wing for the Novozemlyan junior team was able to beat Régis Coulomb and slip it by Pinchon. It is notable that Coulomb is in for an injured Gilbert Calliat who cracked his skull during Kebec's loss to Biancavillam Coulomb while skilled simply doesn't possess the same finesse if you will that emboldened Calliat to play -- Coulomb is sloppy and it shown on ice as the clearly superior Novozemlyan forwards harassed him during the first period, showing Kebec's major weak-spot along the left-flank, included, this thrust Élie Badeaux, a girl just discovering her talent into a much tougher role of guiding the defense during much of the first-period.

There really wasn't much hope for the Kebecois side during the second period, quite honestly, perhaps it would've been more appropriate for the Kebecois side to simply boycott the game and storm off the ice, their resilience was largely gone against Novaya Zemlya entering the second period of action on the ice -- even the Zamboni machines seemed sad as any ideas of an upset were thoroughly erased from their minds The Novozemlyans came out on fire to open the second period, there was really nothing Wilfred Pinchon could do except maybe walk away -- it didn't take long, just three minutes into the second period for Edik Tattar, the Novozemlyan second-line center to come streaking by past Omer Daucourt and pump one past him with excellence, it -- the puck that is, went flying into the top left corner, no matter how acrobatic Wilfred Pinchon was, there was truly nothing he could do except twist and turn and listen for the ker-plunk. By now, any chance of a comeback has been completely erased from the minds of many, the point now was just to save Kebec from certain destruction with a goal or two at minimum, it seemed however, Afanas Leskov the Novozemlyan goalie was invincible, leading the game with fourteen saves as opposed to Pinchon's nine saves -- slipping one bye would take up a lot of time. It certainly didn't help that, three minutes later, on a Novozemlyan powerplay, a wrist-shot by Vladimir Dvornikov found the back of the net, putting the Novozemlyan side up 5-0 -- essentially seeming to cement the idea that Leskov would have a clean sheet. The Kebec Junior Icers locker-room was one of quietness, the players shuffled inside quietly and sat down -- there was no pep-talk from Coach Philidor in his limited amount of known French -- there was no shoulder-patting, there was just silence. Silence is golden as they say.

The third period was filled with misshapen playing and lackadaisical defending on part of the Novozemlyans, already half-way drunk with nostalgia and reveling in their pre-determined victory, it seemed they forgot that there was one more period if high-flying hockey to play. That showed as in the opening minutes of the third period, Fabien De Saint-Pierre after a crisp pass from Grégoire Vandame, another forward, was able to blow by Rando Puhlev, included, Puhlev gave him a little shove that went unnoticed by the Savjoar referees for whatever reason, however, that didn't phase him as he buried the puck in the back of the net. There was no celebration, a simple nod from the other players on the ice -- at this time, Wilfred Pinchon began to quickly walk off the ice, his head low -- Philidor patted him on the back, but, Hockey Kebec was no doubt demoralized after Pinchon's showing, whether he'll return to the WJHC for the thirteenth edition will be the source for much debate over the next two to three years. De Saint-Pierre however now with an extra man on ice in Mathieu Gribelin received a pass which he would then whack to Omer Daucourt who brought it past the blue line, Daucourt, a defense-men would pass to De Saint-Pierre who was hounded along the boards, unable to do much, however, a body-check from a Novozemlyan somehow steadied him enough to set a wrist-shot off and give him his second goal. Kebec would continue to grind out the rest of the third period, not giving the Novozemlyans any chances to add another goal to their tally -- the showing by Kebec wasn't great, but the third period was wonderful. Seeing De Saint-Pierre over the course of the tournament gave hope to Hockey Kebec, the governing federation of all forms of hockey in Kebec as the World Cup of Hockey hastingly approaches, De Saint-Pierre turns twenty-two in two years.

Talking to the media after the tough loss, De Saint-Pierre, his face streaky told the media, "Now we turn to the important stuff, its important for the guys to go finish out their season, three of us still have work to do concerning Calix City and NSCYH, we still have hockey to play. This team bonded well, I am proud of that, now, we each go our separate ways, our team's future is bright, look to see Grégoire Vandame take up the torch for us when the older guys depart, he's only what -- seventeen? Zachary Leloup -- he'll be back no doubt, he's only eighteen, he'll refine his skills well in the OJL and will be back and better than ever in time for the final edition. As for me, the Kebec senior team is where I want to be, I don't no if my skills will impress senior coaches, however, that's where I feel I need to be -- there are some rumors from Hockey Kebec that a new guy's coming in to lead the senior squad, rumor has it that Guy Barthélemy will be out as head coach soon so... I dunno."

Coach Samuel Philidor told the media thru an Elejamian translator, "I am thoroughly proud of my adopted team -- Hockey Kebec brought me to this team and gave me the goal of progressing past the group stage, we didn't think we had it in ourselves to even outlast the fearsome Kaboomlandia, now, having been eliminated, we must revel in what we did well, where we went right. There's no doubt in my mind some of these players are destined for a spot on the senior team, I'll be seeing a few of them in time for the next edition of the WJHC. I enjoyed coaching this squad and hope to see you once again."

SPORTS WORLD - ONTORISA
Showdown in Sjoedrhavns
Fledgling rivals Ontorisa and Cauja prepare to face each other once more, with the stakes raised even more
Image
Heja Qatares (Right) congratulates Mikael Voloskov (Left) on scoring the game winning overtime goal against New Lusitania and the Algarves.

Here we go, again.

Ontorisa has pulled through on a heroic effort by Mikael Voloskov to propel the Ontorisans into the 2nd Round of the WJHC playoffs. With the match against New Lusitania and the Algarves behind them, Team Ontorisa now eyes their next opponent keenly: Cauja. The two teams had met in the group roundrobins where Ontorisa was defeated 1-0 by Cauja, in a game that was very physical and heated. Both sides have been very open and eager about facing one another again.

"Some of us play in Ontorisa, so we know some of the guys on Team Ontorisa." Team Cauja's Captain, Ulmar Gradersilium said. "Off the ice, we'll mingle, we'll ask each other what's up, stuff like that. But on the ice, you're just filled with this passion and determination to succeed, so life has to wait while you play against one another. I won't lie, it's been pretty fun, especially seeing my d-partner Kota [Kota Ijarask] playing such a big role on Team Ontorisa."

"Not going to lie, I've had some satisfaction hitting a couple of the Caujan players, hahahaha." Overtime hero Mikael Voloskov said. "During the off season, I'll work out with a few of them, but during games like this, y'know we sorta put aside our friendship and just lay it on each other."

Voloskov's goal came from a fancy play at the New Lusitanian blue line, receiving a nice feed from Azwaj Sayatamir. With a swift move past New Lusitanian defender António Castro, Voloskov had a partial break and some space to work with, which was all he needed as he let the puck loose over Ricardo Varejão's head, sending the Ontorisans to Round 2.

While Ontorisa dealt with the New Lusitanians, Cauja easily swept aside the Tveidalenians, beating them handily 3-0. Frik Halijerit, Ari Jasvik and Kaspar Martoshaad all scored for the Caujans in a very one-sided affair. With Terry Slavik, probably one of the hottest goalies right now in the WJHC, playing out his mind against the Tveidalenians, Ontorisa will have to solve him in order to advance, and bring the score decisively in their favour.

“Good evening, Neu Engollon and also to our International viewers. I'm, Karl Demais, host here on the NETV 7 Sports Update. We're going to take a break from Winter Olympics coverage in Electrum to bounce over to the World Junior Hockey Championships in Sjoedrhavn and Thorsborg in Savojarna. The Junior Ibex have once again advanced beyond many international hockey fans expectations as they go into the quarterfinals to play Natanians and Nosts.

Some call it Octofinals, like the Savojars, while others might refer to it as the Round of 16. Whatever your flavor, the Junior Ibex are past it with their victory over Piranhastan. This wasn't a total shut out and was pretty close to even as the Junior Ibex defenders let slip three goals into the Neu Engollian net. Sudait and Goetz were instrumental players in this game, once again shining through as the stars of this season.
Montalvo had the first goal at 4:35, Goetz had the next two scores, at 6:21 in the first and then 3:52 in the second period respectively. Güldenstädt took the fourth goal in with Goetz in support at 7:11 in the second, while Montalvo came back to knock in the final goal for the Junior Ibex in the very tough third period, at near the 11 minute mark. I say very tough because if you watched the game, you saw Piranhastan mount a come back like few have seen in recent hockey memory, scoring all three of their goals in the third period and forcing penalties from Sudait and Friedeler. Coach Taranto made the difficult decision to pull Feneille out of the net in the last few minutes in order to ramp up the pressure on Piranhastan and push them back over the blue line, but enabling that Piranhan third goal in the process.

Natanians and Nosts will be another tough opponent and the Junior Ibex have no illusions that they have the quarterfinal match up sewn up in their favor. Coach Taranto had this to say:

"We're going to regroup and get it together and take a look at how we're supporting defense. We have a lot of drills to run through and I'm not going to give these guys much of a rest before the game tomorrow. We'll be watching videos of their top scorers like Albertus Júnio Varro and Ion Carolus Marão and figuring out how to shut them down. We're going to go into this tight and swinging. We have the scoring down, but that's no good if we let them glide through to our net."

Strong words from Coach Taranto.
The Junior Ibex will play Natanians and Nosts tomorrow, again at Stadion General Harden. Thank you for staying tuned to the NETV 7 Sports Update. Coming up after the sponsor break, we'll go back for more Winter Olympics news and some player profiles of the Goats for the upcoming Rugby Union World Cup 25. We'll be back..."
TG me with questions if you got some, especially about GE&T or PMCs.

SPORTS WORLD - ONTORISA
Ontorisa Tosses Out Cauja with a 3-2 Win
Kota Ijarask led the way for Team Ontorisa as they score 3 unanswered goals to take a 3-2 win over their Caujan Rivals

Believe the hype people. Kota Ijarask was a man on a mission in the quarterfinals game against Cauja, potting a goal and racking up 2 assists.

The scoring started off with a break by Brejal Delsja, who made a fancy move past two Caujan defenders before firing a shot that was quickly gloved down by Terry Slavik. In the ensuing offensive zone face-off, the puck was won back to a dangerous Nawis Tolomoki, who was still looking for his first goal of the tournament. A quick shot by Tolomoki that bounced off of a skate and landed right in front of Slavik, allowed Azwaj Sayatamir to nearly score, his multiple attempts being stopped by a desperate effort by Terry Slavik.

On the other end, the Cauja was much more lucky when it came to scoring. One attempt by the Caujans saw a nice play by Oscar Thavadik spring Kaspar Martoshaad for a breakaway, only to be stopped by a diving pokecheck by Tomas Emmiskard. However, the Ontorisan defensive effort, as non-existent as it was, gave way to the first goal of the game, scored against them by a nice series of passes between Ari Jasvik and Thomas Grolosavik, where a quick tic-tac-toe passing routine between the two led to a free Tomas Sacivik, who quickly potted the puck between Emmiskard's pads.

The goal differential only got worse from Ontorisa, with a defensive miscue between Ralos Hanien and Luc Therrien, who saw Ari Jasvik break into the Ontorisan zone easily. Once the dangerous Caujan winger was in, Ontorisa's fate was sealed as he fed the puck to Frik Halijerit, and assumed his spot in front of the Ontorisan net. With a quick pass from Halijert to Kryitkem, a shot came in, to be deflected by Jasvik under the blocker of Emmiskard, sending the Caujans up 2-0. However, a bad high sticking by penalty from Petr Rakystak send Ontorisa to the powerplay. With Ijarask quarterbacking the powerplay, a quick back-to-back passing game with Nytar Karrakas left a wide open Marc-Andree Cassenault in a prime scoring spot. A quick pass over to Cassenault from Ijarask and a simple snipe from the sniper, and Ontorisa was back within one.

From there, Ontorisa turned on the jets. Early in the 3rd Period, a partial break by talented winger Samris Taimar saw the puck dropped back to a waiting Kota Ijarask who slapped the puck over Slavik's shoulder, tying the game at 2 a piece. Things only got worse for the Caujans. An attempted breakout in their own zone only minutes later left the puck with the towering Mathieu LeChance, who sent it over to his defensive partner Kota Ijarask. With all of the time in the world, Ijarask sent the puck down the boards to a waiting Samris Taimar, who found a wide open Timur Xyullerk in the Caujan slot. A quick shot by the captain and the game was now 3-2 Ontorisa.

Emmiskard in the final few minutes of the 3rd Period was absolutely perfect, stopping a fury of shots by the Caujans, especially a nifty attempt by Ari Jasvik, who snuck past Ewolk Sangrasard and tried putting the puck past Emmiskard, who managed to stick his left leg out enough to stop the Caujan. Once the clock wound down, the game was over and Ontorisa had come back from a 2 goal deficit.

"Tough game, good players." Were the only things Xyullerk said after the game. "I won't lie, it was difficult at times, and we were pretty shaky when they [Team Cauja] scored that second goal on us. But it was great to win this game and advance to the semis. Looking forward to facing Abanhfleft. It'll be a good time."

"We played our hearts out there, even though we did look pretty odd at the 1st Period." Head Coach Tomas Harpestar said. "But coming back and to advance to the semifinals is great news for the team. I'm really happy with everyone today, since there wasn't anyone who didn't chip in for the win, regardless if they had a point or not."

Ontorisa will face the 2nd seed Abanhfleft for a chance to compete for Gold.

I apologise for the delay in cutoff, I had been faced with a lot of unexpected work and didn't manage to do it anymore. For the same reason, there are no news from Savojarna today, just results.

“Neu Engollon and our International viewers, Good evening to you. I'm, Karl Demais, your host for the NETV 7 Sports Update. The Winter Olympics in Electrum has concluded and just in time.
The World Junior Hockey Championships in Savojarna which has been running concurrently to the 12th Winter Olympics, has also held the Confederacy's hockey fans in rapture. It's been quite a fantastic season for Neu Engollon's hockey fans, with a spellbinding NEHL season, followed by the Ibex, the National team, going off to train with their compatriots from around Teremara to form the core of a unified team. That Teremaran unified team finished their final just the other day, losing to Elejamie in a hard fought game.

Some of the Ibex who didn't go to Prescott flew here to Savojarna, and now, the rest of the Ibex have flown directly in from Prescott fresh off their silver medal win, to support the Junior Ibex in their final quest to take the Junior Hockey Championship. We'll be looking for them all in the stands tonight.

The Junior Ibex will be facing Abanhfleft, a tough team from a tough, very socialist hockey nation. The Fleftic sports teams don't seem to usually have nicknames or monikers, other than their official designation, and so is the case with their junior team.
I'm going to assume you're aware of the journey of the Junior Ibex at this point, but may have not followed the junior Fleftic team, so let's review...

In the group stage, the Abanhfleft team matched the Junior Ibex record, with 2 wins, 1 draw and 0 losses. They had one more goal scored, but also one more goal scored against them, as well. In the octofinal, they went up against the host nation Savojars and took them out of contention with one goal. In the quarterfinal, they played Siberia North and once again, triumphed with one goal. Then was there semifinal. Can you guess? Yes, a one point win. Slow and steady wins the race with this team. We'll see if they'll be happy enough to sit on their laurels this time around if they gain their token point early, and they rely on their very strong defense which has to hold off the blistering assault of the Junior Ibex.
Tonight, we anticipate will be an epic clash as the purple, gold and crimson face the blue, orange and green.

The final will be held at Sjoedrhavns Stadsstadion.
Thank you for staying tuned to the NETV 7 Sports Update. Coming up after the sponsor break, we'll have more on the upcoming Rugby Union World Cup 25 and the wrapping up of the Astyrian Series, the NS Tennis Tour. We'll be back..."
TG me with questions if you got some, especially about GE&T or PMCs.

SPORTS WORLD - ONTORISA
Cosdaaman's WJHC All-Star Line-Up
Sports World - Ontorisa's Junior Hockey Analyst Baskar Cosdaaman announces his 12th WJHC All-Star Line-Up.
Image
Kebecois Captain Fabien De Saint-Pierre (White) battles the Kaboomlandian goaltender for a goal.

Ari Jasvik (CAU) - Marco Goetz (NEU) - Fabien De Saint-Pierre (KBC)
Kota Ijarask (ONT) - Mikael Ingerman (SAV)
Logan Kasabian (BCV)

Ari Jasvik - This kid, oh boy he's such a pest. On top of that, his offensive and defensive skills are something to be quite astonished about. To be fair, last tournament, the consensus was that that was the pinnacle of his ceiling. Despite being one of the smaller players in the tournament, Jasvik led the offence-starved Caujans to the quarterfinals where they were eventually eliminated by Ontorisa. Even in a losing game, Jasvik was a force to be reckoned with. Rumours are now swirling that reigning Imperial Cup champions, the Asza Royals, and the SHS club SK Torpedo Pawlograd are both looking into signing the talented Caujan.

Marco Goetz - This was a tough one. In a tournament filled to the brim with talented centres, Goetz got my selection simply because he's flourished as Neu Engollon advanced to the WJHC Finals. He's a quick thinking centre, who reads the play very well. If you look up his highlights from the group stages, you'll see Goetz winning face-offs, checking guys off the puck and scoring goals. He's a great centrepiece for the WJHC All-Star Line-up, mainly because of his Hockey IQ and physical ability.

Fabien De Saint-Pierre - The Kebecois captain was one of the top scorers in the tournament thus far. While he touts himself mostly as a pure sniper who scores goals and leads by example, Saint-Pierre has been constantly evolving into a strong two-way player who can comfortably play in both ends of the ice, regardless of the situation. The Savojar club CASK Thorsborg has already swooped in and picked up on the Kebecois captain.

Kota Ijarask - What a legend in the making. In his first WJHC tournament as a 15-year old, Kota Ijarask recorded a total of 7 points as a defenseman. Already, Ijarask has proved his doubters wrong as he was constantly playing top minutes as Ontorisa's go-to left handed defenseman. He saw immense success beside Mathieu LeChance, whose ability to play a mixed game of physicality and defence, allowed Ijarask to use the ice to show off his skills. Could we see Ijarask return next year? Most likely, with such a dominant effort by the rookie, it's clear he will be much better than Doristram, Vemisfort and Ceb-an-Mukai.

Mikael Ingerman - This right handed defenseman led all Savojar blue liners in hits and takeaways. A menacing player to play against, Ingerman was a catalyst for the Savojar Junior Team. While his future is unknown, his presence in the tournament was something to behold.

Logan Kasabian - Probably one of the top goalies of the tournament, only allowing one goal during the entire group stages. Even though the team in front of him was less than stellar, Kasabian kept the Biancavillans in games that they had no business playing. Look for Kasabian to become a commodity in the upcoming international transfer window.
