You'd better believe I'm a bitter Bernie Sanders supporter. The Dems fucked up and fucked up hard. Hopefully they'll learn that neoliberalism and maintaining the status quo isn't the way to win this election or any other one. I doubt they will, though.

Account Name: FreYhill
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
Chief Whip

Positions in Government:
1st President of the Senate (2017-2017)
Government Whip (Present)

Constituency: Cordogena
Political Ideology: Progressive Conservative

FamilY: Patricio Magrina (Fiance), Eustacio Carvallo (Father), Rosario Carvallo (Mother), Florencia Carvallo (Sister), Vanessa Carvallo (Sister)
Background: Emmanuel Carvallo (Born 12 March 1977) is a prominent Fernese politician who currently serves as the Senator for Cordogena. Born in Fortaleza, Carvallo studied at St Catherine of Siena College until his graduation in 1995. After graduating, Carvallo moved to the United Kingdom to study a Bachelor of Economics and a Juris Doctor at the University of Cambridge, where he would work with world experts at firms such as HSBC. After graduating from the University of Cambridge, Carvallo returned to Fortaleza, where he would work as a banker at HSBC’s Fernese branch.

Whilst he was a banker, Carvallo began working on a YouTube channel called “Carvallo Teaches”, where he would make videos explaining economic, legal and political theories whilst vlogging his life’s adventures. Carvallo announced he was bisexual on his YouTube channel during September 2010, with the video amassing a total viewership of 20 Million. In a biography that he commissioned, he is said to believe that “being bisexual isn’t taboo when you’re made as an image of God. If you hate me for who I am you must be hating our lord as well.” Carvallo met his now fiancé Patricio Magrina at a gentlemen’s bar in upper Fortaleza during 2012.

In 2017, Carvallo was elected as the Senator for Cordogena, where he would also serve as the President of the Senate during Vishal Vig administration. During his time in the chair, the Red-Green Alliance continued to attack Carvallo and his rulings, with Miliband’s Senator David Bloom stating that “Carvallo and the Civic Union have made that position far more partisan that it was designed to be”. Carvallo denies these claims and stated that “he has acted in a fair and non-partisan manner” and used the censorship of Senator Durand as proof. After Princilla Krishnan won the Presidency, Carvallo opted to not run for the Senate Presidency, believing that “I have other skills in other areas in our government. It’s only fair if I use them to the best of my ability rather than sitting around all day.”

Any Questions from the Public to be answered?
  • "Senator Carvallo, Reuters International. What is your stance on the to-be-drafted Constitution, and what should it provisionalize?"
    "I believe that the to-be-drafted constitution of our nation should establish a somewhat executive president elected by the electoral college rather than the legislature. I'll be up for a westminister legislature as well with a Prime Ministerial figure."
  • "Are you not concerned that the electoral college will misrepresent voters? As a secondary question, would you be in favor of an electoral college with proportional allocation of electors rather than First Past the Post?"
    "I'm not that concerned about the electoral college misrepresenting voters despite a rather bizzare win for President Donald J. Trump last year as I believe that each state of the United States had a seperate election. Of course we would have to refine the electoral college for Fernāo but I believe that a misrepresentation of the people's will would be quite rare under the EC. In regards to proportional allocation of First past the post, it will depend on how we refine it for Fernāo's political landscape so I won't commit to a comment right now."
  • "Seems fair. Last question, Senator: Are you committed to working with those across the aisle when it comes down to it, or will you be taking a more hardline approach in Fortaleza?"
    "When it comes down to business, I stick to principle and fight for what I believe. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be up to discussing mutual policies with other parties though and I believe that if we can't agree we should find middle ground for the better good of Fernāo".
  • "Breitbart News, considering your placement in the low-energy establishment anti-sovereignty mainstream media hacks that is the Civic Union, are you willing to denounce this and embrace the alt-right and the greatest President America has ever known, Donald Trump, and the greatest White House official America has ever known, Steve Bannon, or will you remain in your anti-sovereignty low-energy establishment mainstream media hackish ways?"

António Ventura - Red-Green Alliance
Image

Account Name: Arachaea
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
Senator

Positions in Government:
None

Constituency: New Faro
Political Ideology: Social democracy, environmentalism, LGBT rights,

Family: Tomé Da Costa (partner)
Background: António was born in 1981 in New Faro, a seaside town on the south coast of Fernao, to parents of Portuguese origin. His parents were noted left-wing activists, who, while criticizing the socialist republic for authoritarian policies it followed, felt it was preferable to the previous situation before independence. In the United States-backed coup d'état, his parents fled to Portugal, settling in the Algarve. He thus grew up in a different society to most of his fellow Senators, being used to democracy and relative freedom, but he never forgot his Fernaoese ancestry, and was a supporter of efforts to better the struggling nation throughout his late childhood. He became engaged in politics in Portugal at a young age, preferring the PS over the PSD due to their moderate social progressivism and their more left-wing economic policy.

At the age of 18, he went to university in Faro and gained a Master's degree in Sociology, and a degree in teaching, and became a teacher at a secondary school within the nation.

While knowing about his homosexuality from a young age, due to the conservative nature of Portuguese society of the late 1990's and early 2000's, he kept it to himself, until in 2009 at the age of 28 when he announced it publicly to the people he knew due to changing social attitudes. He met his partner in 2014, and while they were planning to marry due to the legalisation of same-sex marriage in Portugal a few years prior, upon the attempted restoration of democracy to Fernao, he moved back to the nation to try and help guide it to a stable state. He stood for election in his hometown of New Faro, running on his social-democratic, environmentalist and pro-LGBT beliefs he had developed while growing up in Portugal, and was elected, standing under the Red-Green Alliance.

He is a Roman Catholic, but is not a very religious person, identifying as Roman Catholic in more of a cultural sense. He is known for his strong support of improving LGBT rights in Fernao, and his vision for a green and social democratic Fernao where all forms of discrimination are non-existent.

Amir Haddad - Arab National Front
Image

Account Name: Costa Fiero
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
Party Leader

Positions in Government:

Constituency: N/A
Political Ideology: Tanwirism

Family: None
Background: Amir Haddad was born on March 18, 1957 into a working class family that resided in the Naba'a district in the town of Bourj Hammoud, south of the Lebanese capital, Beirut. His father was a shopkeeper and his mother was a hairdresser. A strict authoritarian, his father would routinely beat Haddad if he stepped out of line. His mother also received a number of beatings. He was also blamed for his father's subsequent descent into alcoholism, especially given that the family struggled supporting two additional children. However, Haddad became a curious and rather intelligent child with a surprising amount of popularity and charisma despite suffering from less than ideal domestic situations. Being the youngest son in the family, Haddad wasn't considered as important as his older brother Mahmoud and was pulled out of school at age 13 to help his father run the family store. During this time, he developed a friendship with a girl named Nayla Habib, who still attended school. She would help him with further reading and mathmatics skills.

In 1973, at age 16, the relationship between Haddad and his deteriorated significantly. His father and Haddad got into a fight after he had been caught stealing sweets for Nayla, who was now his girlfriend. A few weeks later, another fight occurred when Nayla's father marched him home in the early hours of the morning after catching Haddad and Nayla having sex. His parents forbade him from seeing Nayla, although Haddad continued to evade his parents and routinely met up with her. In October of that year, Haddad returned home from seeing his friends to find his father beating his mother with a belt. Enraged, Haddad grabbed a hammer and began beating his father with it, knocking him unconscious. Haddad and his brother then dragged their fathers body and disposed of it in a nearby dumpster. Whatever happened to his father's body still remains a mystery today.

Liberated from his abusive father, Haddad moved with his mother to a different part of Bourj Hammoud after selling up the shop. Although his mother still worked as a hairdresser, Haddad gained employment as a shopkeeper's assistant until he was drafted by the Lebanese Army in 1975.

Haddad had barely passed basic training when the Lebanese Civil War broke out. Haddad's unit initially remained within the Lebanese Army but joined Lieutenant Ahmed al-Khatib's mutiny. Now part of the Lebanese Arab Army (LNA), Haddad initially escaped the breakout of hostilities until March 1976 when the LNA participated in the Battle of the Hotels. Haddad participated in the seizure of the Holiday Inn Hotel, cooperating with Palestinians from the Palestinian Liberation Organization. During the seizure, he managed to engage in hand-to-hand combat with a Christian militiaman of an age similar to his and successfully won the combat by bayonetting the Christian. According to Haddad, that was a definining moment in his life.

Disillusioned with the disestablishment of the and reintegration into the regular Lebanese Army, Haddad defected from the Lebanese Army in March 1977 and joined Al-Mourabitoun, a left-wing Nasserist militia. He would fight with the militia until September 1982 after the ending of the Seige of Beirut by Israel. By then Haddad, now 25, had largely formed his own militia group which controlled parts of the port areas in Beirut. Loosely controlled and organized, the milita developed a bloodthirsty reputation, often kidnapping Christian civilians and sending their families body parts when they demanded ransoms. During this time, Hadded attempted to keep his family safe. However, by 1982 he had only his brother left. His mother died during street fighting in 1979 and his sister was taken by Lebanese soldiers in 1981. He secured his brother's escape from Lebanon in November 1982 whilst he remained in Beirut, building up enough money and connections to secure his own escape. However, he was lured into the smuggling business and became well known within Beirut. In January 1983, Haddad caught his long-term girlfriend Nayla Habib having sex with Mohammed Gharib, who had defected with Haddad in 1977 and with whom he had fought alongside in the intervening six years. Incensed by the betrayal and now motivated by pure anger, Haddad personally tortured them both until they both confessed of their relationship. Haddad then had the both of them tied together and placed into a car, which was doused in petrol and set alight, burning them both alive. What followed was a two week long orgy of blood letting in which Haddad attacked various militia groups on the right and left. Haddad's victims were commonly hacked to death with knives and machetes, their body parts then delivered in boxes to their respective commanders. This earned him the name "The Butcher of Beirut".

With nothing left to fight for, Haddad left Lebanon in October 1983, seeking refuge initially in Jordan but then moving to Egypt where he attended Al-Azhar University in Cairo. However, he only stayed in Cairo for two months, unable to reconcile his faith with his political convictions. He remained in Cairo however, completing his Hajj that year as well. Having felt some atonement for his past deeds, he used what remained of the money obtained from smuggling to emigrate to Fernao, settling in the predominantly Arab west of the country. He gained citizenship in January 1986 and joined the military, becoming a career officer. In 1993, aged 36, Haddad became a lieutenant.

With the outbreak of the Fernese Civil War in 1994, Haddad quickly hatched a plan to seize power within the military units based in the western half of Fernao. In June 1994, Haddad led a mutiny against the predominantly Hindu leadership of the Fernese Armed Forces, exploiting a substantial rift between the leadership and the predominantly Muslim forces based in the west of Fernao. Now the leader of a substantially sized and well armed force, Haddad moved to secure the majority Muslim areas of Fernao, carving himself out a nationstate for Fernao's Arabs and Muslims. Relying on his experiences in Lebanon, Haddad proved to be an effective and somewhat bloodthirsty leader, allowing his forces to forcefully evict all non-Arabs and non-Muslims from territory he took, whilst also encouraging Muslims and Arabs from elsewhere to settle in his new nationstate. In December 1994, Haddad proclaimed the independence of the Republic of Akhdiria.

He transformed his new state into one based on his ideology, Tanwirism, which he had cultivated after exposure to Nasserist thought and later, Ba'athist thought, combined with the Islamic teachings he received in Egypt. He promoted stability and peace within the region by removing all potential threats to his rule, politically or otherwise. He founded the Arab National Front as the vanguard of his revolution and consolidated his power by using the military as an extension of his power. This was later backed up by the formation of the National Security Force which provided the government with a secret police to spy on and arrest suspected dissidents. Haddad cultivated ties with foreign nations, in particular Syria and Iraq, with whom he considered to be ideological friends. Substantial investment came from these nations, although this was supplemented with investments from Egypt and Saudi Arabia. Because of Haddad's opposition to the Hindu majority on the islands, investments also came from Pakistan, who provided Haddad's forces with weapons. Later on, Iran, China and Russia began investing in Akhdiria, although recognition was not given. The Chinese clandestinely provided weapons to Haddad's forces through Pakistan.

Haddad used his position of power to assume a substantial amount of wealth for himself. In addition, corruption, cronyism and human rights abuses were common. Media was severely limited in its freedoms and propaganda was routinely disseminated by the state. Haddad personally organized and ordered pogroms and massacres against the Hindus that were not forced out during his initial territorial carve out. Eventually this lead to an all out ethnic cleansing campaign in September 2001, which went largely unnoticed due to events in the United States. Haddad also gained an international reputation for being one of the more despotic dictators in the world. He routinely organized torture sessions for political dissidents at his personal residence. Haddad would often have younger women, many of whom were between 18 and 25 years of age, brought to his residence for sex, with those that refused being fed to a group of lions that were imported illegally from Africa. Those that he did have sex with were later given to his body guards or distributed among soldiers, many of whom would later die due to injuries or being shot dead by displeased soldiers. He also began a campaign of state sponsored terrorism against Hindus outside of Akhdiria, using finances and training provided by Saudi Arabia. This continued from 2005 until 2014.

An Indian-led UN intervention ended Haddad's rule. A swift three week campaign against superior air and naval power virtually destroyed his armed forces and forced Haddad to enter into negotiations with the Fernao government in order to unify the state. He was captured and almost sent to the International Criminal Court in The Hague for various human rights abuses. However, Haddad struck a deal with UN forces to remain in Fernao, whilst giving up other key figures in his government that were also accused of human rights abuses. Haddad is now the leader of an Arab nationalist and Muslim interest party seeking autonomy or a renewal of independence from Fernao.

It's not that complicated, and besides it has a certain charm to it than Fernese or Fernoãn or other "simple" demonyms don't have.

I can't say I agree. Perhaps this is one last thing we could decide with a lobby vote? I believe we did something similar in Dagmar.

Madelina Sousa - Red-Green Alliance
Image

Account Name: Arcturus Novus
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
Member

Positions in Government:
Senator, 97th Dist.
Mayor of Jardim Real (former)

Constituency: Jardim Real
Political Ideology: Social democracy, environmentalism, left populism

Family: Elizabeth Sousa (nee. Nichols; b. 1960, m. 1989- )
Background: Madelina Sousa was born in the city of Jardim Real on 26 Feb. 1958, to local shopkeeper Eduardo Sousa and Lucinda Sousa Correia. She attended school in the city, and graduated from Colegial Liberdade in 1974. In 1976, Sousa left Fernão to attend college at UC Berkely, where she obtained her master's degrees in political science (1980) and secondary education (1981). While in the United States, she met Elizabeth Nichols, and the two married after eight years together.

Sousa's political career started after her return to Jardim Real, where she taught at political science and Fernese history at her former high school. She worked on her father's mayoral campaign in 1990, which he won. During the Fernão Civil War, Jardim Real served as a "sanctuary town" for those who were displaced during the conflict. This significantly boosted Sousa's overall public support, hurt his polling with the more conservative Jardienhos, and ultimately lost him the 1995 election. Sousa lost to wealthy businessman Joaquin Santos, who served one term and did not seek a second. Madelina proceeded to run in 2000, using similar rhetoric that her father did in 1990: "Act in the interest of every Jardienho". Despite her image- a progressive, pro-immigrant lesbian with a foreign wife- clashing with conservative voters, Sousa narrowly won the 2000 election, securing a majority by just 1,198 votes in a city of nearly 150,000.

Under Sousa, Jardim Real became a symbol of Fernese progressivism. It was among the first cities in Fernão to institute a carbon tax on emissions, as well as protections for homeless and lower-income citizens. Jardim Real also adopted a city-wide antidiscrimination ordinance, banning hateful speech or actions within city limits. Sousa was immensely popular with the rising young progressives in the city; the 2005 election reflected this, as Sousa won by a landslide. Sousa was elected for a third term, unopposed, in 2010; she was also elected to a fourth, but resigned in 2016 following the UN invervention. She chose to serve Jardim Real instead as a senator, believing the best way to serve her constituency was "to represent them in the national theater," as she said in a 2016 interview. Sousa currently serves as the first-term senator for Jardim Real under the country's Red-Green Alliance.

Two things. One, generally English speakers do not use Portuguese or other Romance language demonyms. Two, even if we made an exception, I'm not using it.

Akiko Yukimura - 秋子雪村 - Red-Green Alliance
Image

Account Name: Cresadine
Occupation: Senator

Party Position(s):
Member

Positions in Government:
N/A

Constituency: The Brooms - A constituency within a major city. Has a large Asian population after a century of immigration. Lots of artists and students make their home here.
Political Ideology: Feminism, Socialism, Environmentalism, Progressivism.

Family: She has been married to her husband, humanitarian Augusto Viseu, since 2000. Her husband helps run an outreach program that aids the reconstruction of many of Fernão's post-civil war cities. Akiko has three children, João Hideki, Toshi Henrique and Kasumi Maria. Her children took a hyphenated combination of her and her husband's last names.
Background: Akiko Yukimura was born in 1970 to Aoi and Toshi Yukimura, second-generation Japanese-Fernãoense who owned a restaurant in a poorer area of the Brooms. The Brooms is a district were large populations of Asian immigrants settled. Akiko's family had immigrated after World War One. Her paternal grandfather worked for a shipping company, and relocated his family from Tokyo to Fernão for his work. Her maternal grandparents immigrated a few years later.

Akiko childhood was characterized by a convergence of different cultures. At home her parents spoke Japanese to her, while in school she learned English and she spoke Portuguese with her friends. She both prayed at the shrines in her household and participated in the Catholic festivals common throughout the city. This sense of community and multiculturalism is what she cites and leading her to her career as a social worker, and then as a politician.

Akiko's parents were strong supporters of the socialist republic, and helped organize the local party in the Brooms. When the socialist republic fell the Yukimuras promptly fled Fernão and returned to Tokyo; where she lived until finishing her post-secondary education. However she still felt a deep connection to her old home, and decided to return in 1993. She reconnected with many old friends and embraced the underground artistic/counterculture scene there.

She resettled in the Brooms, where she found employment as a social worker. The Brooms was not decimated by the civil war like so many other places, but it still had its fair share of hardships. During the Civil War the Brooms was controlled by the resistance, whom Akiko found her politics to be aligned with. Akiko abstained from fighting, instead she worked within the Brooms, organizing aid for the affected, helping strengthen the community and counseling victims of the war. She met her future husband during this period, and they married in 2000. After their marriage they both continued their humanitarian work in the Brooms.

By the end of the Civil War, Akiko had helped shaped a community. She was a natural and immensely popular choice to be the representative of the Brooms at the national level.

Faith: Akiko's grandparents brought Shinto with them from Japan, however Akiko does not affirm any faith.

Likes: Music, dancing, art, community, languages, trying new things, her husband & children, reading, gardening, fashion
Dislikes: Violence, destruction, hate, barbecued vegetables, the colour neon yellow

    "The establishment of a stable interim government is the universal top priority for myself and all my peers. Besides that, my penultimate priority is too help guide and facilitate the process of reconstruction and healing that needs to take place in our beautiful country. We have been embroiled in Civil War for the past two decades. I felt the personal effects of conflict and saw them as a social worker during the War. I saw the devastation it had on the people. Our country cannot hope to go successfully into the future unless we address what the past has done to the present. There is still so much damage to be undone."

Sushila Fonseca - Red - Green Alliance
Image

Account Name: Argentarino
Occupation: Secretary of Foreign Affairs

Party Position(s):
Member

Positions in Government:
Secretary of Foreign Affairs

Constituency: TBD
Political Ideology: "Pragmatic Progressivism", Social Democracy, Globalism

Family: N/A
Background: Mr. Sushila Fonseca (aged 37) was born unwanted sometime in 1980. No one, aside from the mother who abandoned him, knows the reason why he was abandoned at an orphanage in a rural backwater in Fernão. Sushila did not have a good first three years of his life, as it can be assumed that he endured hardships, both physical and mental, in a run-down orphanage in an impoverished town. His luck turned around when a Dr. Eustaquio Fonseca and his barren wife, Mrs. Nathália Fonseca, adopted the child and took him in on April 14th, 1983. He was now a member of the privileged middle-class, enjoying the privileges of a decent education, decent healthcare, and the love and support of a family that treasured him and his development. As a result of his new fortunes, Sushila, formerly a shy, introverted toddler, would develop into a charismatic, outspoken young man. With the political situation of Fernão deteriorating constantly, it was a surprise that his family stayed within the country for so long (Dr. Fonseca had opted to stay to continue his work in the major hospital in [INSERT CITY HERE]. However, for his safety (and in order to ensure he could develop and study in peace), the Fonsecas used their contacts in Portugal to get him into the University of Lisbon, starting in 1998. There, he graduated from the Institute of Social and Political Sciences with a double major in Public Administration and Political Science in 2002. His original plan was to return to Fernão after graduation, but the civil war continued to rage on at home, and so he extended his student visa and graduated from Linköping University in Évora with a Master's (MSSc) in International and European Relations in 2004. Noticed as a hard worker by a talent scout (and understanding of the plight the young Sushila was in), Sushila was able to snag a job with the United Nations office in Geneva, focusing on human rights work. In 2005, he was sent to Fernão with a United Nations team to assist in the ceasefire negotiations, but alas, their efforts were in vain, as the conflict continued to rage. Sushila was permitted to stay within Fernão to act as an unofficial UN observer, doing whatever he could to discreetly send reports of human rights violations up to his superiors in Geneva, including atrocities committed by all sides. However, his luck ran out. He was captured by the regime in 2007, and he was imprisoned for five months. In order to secure his release, his parents paid a bribe to the local authorities, but not before he himself was tortured, raped, and beaten by his guards. His story was actually one of the many that broke the camel's back in the typically restive, middle class community that he had grown up in. By mid-2008, the population of [INSERT CITY HERE] was in full rebellion against the regime, with their armed elements joining one of the more moderate rebel factions. But as for Sushila, he began to identify as a social democrat, and he worked with the impoverished, the beaten, the forgotten as an aid worker and human rights activist. Little did he know at the time, but he was building a reputation for himself that would launch him into politics. After the civil war was brought to a halt in 2014, thanks to the Indian military, Sushila threw himself first into local politics, joining the Red - Green Alliance. Then, when elections were called in 2016, he ran to represent [INSERT CITY HERE]. His previous efforts during the civil war did not go unnoticed, and he was rewarded with a 10 point lead. After the election of President Vig, he was nominated to be the Administration's Secretary of Foreign Affairs. He was nominated with a resounding bipartisan majority.
