Founded in March 2007 and transitioning to a Republic in July of that year, Europeia has been a long-standing feature within NationStates, and proudly stands as one of the most stable and vibrant democracies within the game. Boasting hundreds of nations and participation from many well-known players throughout its history, the Republic has a reputation for prudent and measured diplomacy, a robust and independent foreign policy, an intriguing and broadly accessible political system, a warm and friendly culture, and one of the best judicial systems in NationStates.

On The NS World Fair and The Allied States

Greetings,

I am sure that many of you are eager to attend the World Fair. For years, this event has stood as a universal celebration for Gameplay regions of all shapes, sizes, and ideologies. It has been a place of laughter and learning as well as a place of debate and good deeds. Like many, this administration was looking forward to participation in this wonderful event.

Sadly, we no longer believe this to be possible. This year, the World Fair is being hosted by The Allied States. Many know that TAS has been our partner in diplomacy for over two years and this fact is one that we wish could continue. We have recently sought to expand these relations with a Communications Partnership and a State Visit. However, they are no longer the partner we had once thought they were.

Over the past week, this administration has learned of an epidemic of racism and homophobia present in their community. Members of their community have advocated attacking our region’s discord with “alt-right memes” and they’ve used two genocidal leaders from history as names for their regional leaders. Their founder, who operates under the name of a “Alt-Right Fascists,” recently told our Minister of Foreign Affairs to “Drink Bleach" and also said "Heil Hitler” to her in an unprovoked attack against her person. These are all things which violate the spirit of our agreement and go against everything Europeia stands for.

For these reasons, the Republic of Europeia will -not- be attending any World Fair hosted by The Allied States. We believe that to do so would be an insult to our principles and would indicate a willingness to ignore hate. Effective immediately, Europeia will no longer call itself a partner of The Allied States, and our Government will seek to Repeal our Accord with them.

An apology is no longer relevant to this situation, it is beyond that. Instead, we believe they must receive a response of action. We hope that all those reading this understand this issue and will stand by our desire to work with those who share our core community values.

To be frank, I am very disappointed in TAS' unprofessional conduct here. Their region clearly has a lot of growing up to do before they should be able to interact with the rest of Nationstates gameplay.

Hi everyone,

I'm CDland, Chancellor of the Allied States. The Allied States, in her capacity as the host of the NS World Fair, and in her capacity as a region of world citizens, utterly, unconditionally, and without any hesitation condemns and abrogates any comments that have been made that are racist, homophobic, or otherwise offensive to any people. Any such comments do not reflect the character or spirit of the Allied States, nor any official comment or position of her Government, in which the Founder has no role. The Allied States will make a more extensive statement shortly with further commentary from the rest of the Government and announcing any internal judicial proceedings that may occur but I urge regions to contact the Government of the Allied States before rushing to make decisions regarding the World Fair or other diplomatic matters. We would be grateful if any evidence and information possessed by the Europeian Government pertaining to these matters be passed to the Government of The Allied States in order that we can review it in accordance with our constitutional and legal requirements. We, as strong allies of The Republic of Europeia, would naturally appreciate of our allies a chance to exercise our right to reply to these events.

The Holy Empire of Britannia is monitoring the situation and shall be releasing a statement on the matter shortly. Although we are still in discussions regarding our decision, Britannia commends the Republic of Europeia and other regions who have decided to take a stance against hatred. We understand the position which officials from The Allied States have been put in and recognise that the actions of certain members likely do not reflect the official stance of The Allied States, however such actions still have no place in NS (or anywhere for that matter), whether they're representative of the region or not.

Britannia eagerly awaits the statement from The Allied States and the decision of the World Fair Committee.

As of now, out of the 33 original booth-holders for the NSWF, four are withdrawing (and two have condemned TAS's actions without explicitly withdrawing).

DankMemes is extremely against such actions and is thus not participating in the NationStates World Fair V if the Fair is still held at The Allied States. In accordance with its new Foreign Policy, DankMemes is strictly against all forms of oppression, hate, and harsh dictatorial regimes, including those from Nazi Germany. As with the Holy Empire of Britannia, DankMemes commends the decision made by Europeia to boycott the NationStates World Fair V, which is currently scheduled to take place in The Allied States, and though it understands that the stance of the Regional Government doesn't necessarily represent the stance of the nations, our region nevertheless is against the current host of the NationStates World Fair V.

DankMemes is currently awaiting further information from both The Allied States and the NSWF V Committee regarding this situation.

As of yet, I've seen the host nation condemn any racism/homophobia etc, but merely ask to be told what's going on. I don't know what exactly despicable happened, but at most it seems to have been one person, not a whole region. I say we reserve judgement until we know more.

In response to these events, the following Notice of Closure has been issued to The Allied States embassy on the Equilism forum:

This notice is to inform you that your off-site embassy will be closed, effective immediately.

While the Equilism Office of Public Relations is aware of the statement made by the Chancellor of The Allied States condemning the actions of the region's Founder, we cannot overlook this incident of extremely inappropriate behavior. Regardless of their position in their region's government, we in the Equilism Township are of the opinion that the Founder of any region is seen as a symbol of that community by most and the ultimate game-side authority of the Founder nation must be acknowledged in all diplomatic discourse. Though we sympathize with those within The Allied States, such as Chancellor CDLand, who do not engage in or condone this behavior, we must stand in solidarity with our ally—the Republic of Europeia—and terminate our relations with your region.

Effective immediately, any ambassadors from The Allied States will have their Foreign Dignitary masking on both the Equilism forum and the Equilism Discord server removed. Furthermore, any applications by The Allied States to reopen this off-site embassy or by ambassadors of The Allied States to receive Foreign Dignitary masking shall be denied for a period of at least two months. However, ambassadors of The Allied States are welcome to remain as members of the Equilism forum and the Equilism Discord server and engage with our community on an individual level if they so choose and continue to abide by our terms of use. Racist, sexist, homophobic or any other offensive language used explicitly with the intention of offending others will not be tolerated in or by our community. We hope that those within The Allied States who share our disdain for their Founder's actions will take steps to reform their community so that the region's reputation may one day be distanced from the stain of bigotry.

Celebrating 200 Radio Shows in Europeia

Salutations,

Europeia recently celebrated its 200th radio show, and we want to use this opportunity to thank all those who made this possible. More than 33 users join us every week to listen in and to engage with us in chat. They are who we do this all for: Entertaining them is our greatest honour; the most humbling duty. A variety of hosts and even bigger number of guests from all over NationStates desire to take those listeners on a journey through a wide array of shows each term. We thank them too, because it is their voluntary engagement that allows us to broadcast at all.

For us, the 200th show marked a moment to remember, and the Ministry of Radio released a video to commemorate the achievement.
