Statement from the White Rose Alliance
On the Invasion of Regions Following Fascist Occupation

---

The White Rose Alliance is an exclusively anti-fascist organization, and operates outside the mainstream gameplay spectrum. We do not define ourselves as raider, defender, or by any label other than anti-fascist, and we are willing to work hand in hand with mainstream gameplay organizations without regard for their in-character ideology. We will enthusiastically defend any region against fascists with defenders, invade any fascist region alongside raiders, and we encourage both to put aside their gameplay ideologies and work together to pursue the common goal of resisting fascism in NationStates.

It must, however, be noted that the inaugural operation of the Alliance was to assist in defense of The Arab League against The Black Hawks, a well respected raider organization, following yesterday's abandonment of the fascist occupation that prompted the current Security Council resolution at vote, Liberate The Arab League. The Black Hawks had deployed to invade The Arab League following the retreat of fascist forces, while the fascist point remained Delegate of the region. It was clear that The Black Hawks' operation was not intended as a traditional liberation, and it was unclear whether The Black Hawks intended to occupy The Arab League following invasion.

The Alliance regards the invasion of a region immediately after conclusion of a fascist occupation as inappropriate and unacceptable. A sustained occupation under such circumstances would be even more troubling. When a region is left vulnerable due to fascist retreat, to invade that region is to benefit from the fascist occupation. Moreover, a community that has just endured the turmoil of fascist occupation should be the subject of other regions' sympathy and assistance, rather than subject to another occupation in which they remain deprived of control over their own region. The Alliance will continue to defend regions under such circumstances in the future. The Alliance will also defend regions in the future against any invasion that would benefit from prior fascist occupation, such as the recently concluded invasion of Eternal Scholars by The Invaders, which attempted to take advantage of repeal of a liberation resolution that had previously been imposed to combat fascist occupation.

This statement should not be seen as condemnation of The Black Hawks for their attempted invasion yesterday. It is possible that they meant well and intended to remove fascist forces from The Arab League in their own way. Nonetheless, under such sensitive circumstances, the only appropriate course of action is traditional liberation and restoration of native government as soon as possible. Rather than being taken as condemnation or criticism, it is hoped that this statement will be taken as an opportunity for constructive dialogue regarding the appropriate course of action when fascists hastily flee from defeat. The Alliance hopes to be able to work with The Black Hawks on anti-fascist operations in the future.

The Alliance would also like to recognize the swift response of the Order of the Grey Wardens and the South Pacific Special Forces in defense of The Arab League after the attempted invasion was spotted by the Alliance. As the Alliance is brand new and has yet to begin recruitment, defense of The Arab League wouldn't have been possible without their more numerous forces. The Alliance will continue to work with both organizations to secure The Arab League and to restore native government as quickly as possible.

Correction: It has been brought to the attention of the Alliance that the former Delegate of The Arab League, Anarchestan, offered the region to fascist forces as well as other non-fascist invader forces. Fascist forces deserve no credit for invading The Arab League. Having a region handed to you is not the same as invading it; there is no skill involved in the former. The Alliance regrets the error. This correction does not, however, impact in any way upon the policy that is articulated in this statement.

The Alliance will be glad to work with CAIN, and will be exploring sponsorship by CAIN signatories after a respectable enough number of people have been recruited that our membership would make sense. I'll be looking into Antifa membership for the Alliance at the same time.

On another note, just to clarify because this has come up a couple of times now, this isn't an interregional organization like CAIN, the FRA, etc. People are getting confused because of the word "Alliance" in our name and because of my use of the word "organization" instead of region to describe the Alliance.

The Alliance's structure is similar to the UDL -- in structure only, I will emphasize -- in that we will be an organization of individuals working together against fascism. It isn't really a region, because you can join the Alliance without putting a nation in our region, which largely exists for recruitment purposes. But it is an organization of individuals, not regions, and it isn't intended ever to be an interregional organization. I hope that clears up any misconceptions.

The Alliance's definition of fascism/fascists is that we will know them when we see them. We're not going to get into any legalese or precise definitions, only to be accused of violating that definition when we encounter fascists who don't quite meet it.
