I like the idea of a drug dealer being caught in this mess, but I do have few things. Cut back on how much ammo he has with him. If one DEA agent was killed then I can see him getting off on a plea, but four officers killed is pushing it so maybe rethink that a bit. Also, the zombies didn't show up until 9 days after the initial outbreak, by which time the city was already a madhouse. That's all.

Crockerland wrote:Name: Evander Dalton

Most pressing issue is that we already have several characters with military training. That and Evander is armed to the teeth given how much ammo he's carrying. I do appreciate the effort put into the equipment section but as of right now Evander won't be accepted without reworking. Jenelle, however, is more reasonable. Lastly, your posts in your RP Example were rather skimpy (same with your bio) so if accepted please work on that.

Edited it to fit the story and what you said. Also cut the ammo by half (only 4 clips total, AKA 68 rounds). :)

Name:Daniel Beck
Nationality: American.
Ethnicity: German American.
Age/DOB: March 4th 1980 (35)
Pic/Description:Daniel Beck

Occupation: Former Combat Medic Specialist in the US Army. Currently a paramedic.
Immunity: Immune

Equipment:
3 compress bandages.
1 roll of gauze.
2 tourniquets.
30 disinfectant wipes, individually wrapped.
1 box of over the counter bandages, 20 count.
1 role a 3" medical tape.
4 cravat bandages.
Scissors
Penknife
A surplus US Army med bag for the medical equipment.
One M1911, birthday present from his brother. One loaded magazine (7 rounds) and three loose rounds.

Skills: As a former Combat Medic Specialist and an EMT Daniel is able to perform basic medical tasks, this mostly means he is good at keeping people alive until an actual doctor can take care of the patient. Most 0f his work has centered around trauma, from war torn Iraq to gang related violence in the shady parts of Chicago, he has seen everything from shrapnel wounds to gunshots to stab wounds.

In terms of combat ability he was trained in the same tactics and weapon handling skills as the rest of the US Army is. Since actual fighting was not what he was doing in his time in the service he would be considered an average shot, hitting what he wants most of the time. He has still tried to remain as fit and active as he was in the military, so he has more endurance than the average Joe.
Weakness: He no longer has the best eyesight in the world, and while he has a pair of prescription glasses, he refuses to wear them saying that they make him look like a nerd. His knees have been in bad shape since he left the service, as happens to many who go into the military. This is aggravated when he spend too much time on his feet.

He also believes in the sanctity of human life, and as such he refuses to take the life another human. This of course is a problem when there are other people who don't really care and would kill someone for no reason at all. This also means that Daniel tends to avoid direct conflict, which could become an issue in a group situation.

Personality: Daniel is a man who enjoys the company of other human beings. He is always ready to share a beer or two with almost anyone and will not refuse to help people, even if he doesn't like them. Daniel is also a person who has to constantly moving around or doing something or he will get agitated, this has lead some people do describe him as fidgety.
Likes: Beer, preferably cold. Hiking in the wilderness.
Dislikes: Confined spaces, having to sit for long periods of time or having nothing productive to do.
Fears: Dying alone. He is deathly afraid of heights and deep water.

Bio:

Born in a relatively poor framing community in northern Wisconsin, Daniels early life was spent outside in the wood, working on the farm, and trying to get through school. This made his life fairly normal for the his area. So he went on through a relatively normal childhood in the 80's and early 90's. After graduating from high school in 1998 Daniel spent the next three years working odd jobs, trying to scrape by and for the most part still trying to figure out what he was going to do with the rest of his life.

By early 2001, partially out of boredom and a need to make his life mean something he joined the US Army. After basic training he chose to go down the path of a combat medic specialist. by the time he finished the training necessary the Afghanistan War was under way after 9/11. Daniel found himself shiping of to the little landlocked desert country. This would be his first combat experience.

As a medic he would carry the same weapons as the rest the men in his company, however he never engaged the enemy himself, he was far to valuable as a medic. This would be the theme of both of his deployments in his six years of active duty. After his tour in Afghanistan he was sent to Germany for a two year stint. Than another tour in Afghanistan before the Iraq War began in 2003.

Daniel would be part of the first wave of US soldiers in the country. He would again become acquainted with getting shot at but not shooting back, instead he would do his job to save lives. He would see anything from broken bones, gunshot wounds, to shrapnel from IEDs and RPGs. To say he was happy when he got to get out of that little country was an understatement. After Iraq he served the rest of his enlistment in the States.

After mustering out of the military in 2006 Daniel went to become a EMT, moving to Chicago in the process. While he did not plan to be an EMT for more than a few years, the job eventually sucked him in. He might not have liked what he saw on a near daily bases, but he was helping to make a difference in people's lives, mostly by ensuring that their lives continued.

Than the disease came. As part of the City of Chicago's emergency services Daniel saw first hand the outbreak that would bring the United States to its knees and ruin the world he had known. Seeing the hospitals fill up with the sick and dying at an exponential rate, by the fourth day he had taken some medical supplies and abandoned his job as an EMT. There simply was no point in continuing to bring people to over crowded hospitals, there was nothing modern medicine could do to help. When the true nature of the plague revealed itself by day nine, Daniel was holding out in his home in Chicago's North Center community.

Now that the quarantine has failed and the gangs and infected rule the streets, Daniel has decided that it is time to leave his home and get as far away from the madness that is Chicago as possible.

  • ACU Camouflage
  • Combat Vest
  • Combat Pack
  • Combat Helmet
  • Personal Supplies (Canteen, rations, etc.)
  • Various other pieces of equipment (Night Vision Goggles, Utility Knife etc.)

Skills:

Note Added By Lt. Nashwell, K. on September 26th 2012: "Private First Class C. Mitchell has shown his ability to understand the basic infantryman training of the United States Army. He has shown great accuracy at the firing ranges and has the ability to think on his toes in very demanding situations. He is also noted to be physically fit and deemed prepared for active combat duty."

Note Added By Cpt. Fredericks, P. on March 19th 2013: "Private First Class C. Mitchell has completed his first tour in Iraq and shows little signs of physiological harm. Appears that he is able to cope with the stresses of warfare, as well as the ability to maintain his calm while under fire. This does not mean, however, that Private First Class is immune to the physiological effects of warfare, but rather he is able to cope with it. Extended periods of time exposed to constant warfare however, will cause significant physiological harm to him."

Weakness:

Note Added By SSgt. Hartnell, Z. on October 3rd 2011: "Private First Class C. Mitchell spoke out during drill again without any permission to speak. Reference please note that Mitchell has a tendency to speak his mind or perform his actions before thinking about the consequences. Mitchell was ordered to perform an additional lap around the field along with one hundred push-ups. Future personnel for training should note to reinforce Mitchell's discipline.

Note Added By Cpt. Fredericks, P. on March 19th 2013: "Upon examining Private First Class C. Mitchell, it was found that the subject has become very brash and stubborn. On the field of battle this may prove to be his undoing. Please note for the future reference."

Personality:

Note Added By Cpt. Fredericks, P. on March 19th 2013: "Private First Class C. Mitchell is very outgoing despite his brash and stubborn nature. While he holds a consistent amount of confidence and humour, with a very charismatic ability to pull humour out of a dire situation or to lighten up a situation, there comes times when Mitchell will show complete distrust or hostility towards others, particularly people he has just met. Therefore, it takes time for Mitchell to warm up to people, and until he knows them personally and very well, he will proceed to act very cold to them."

Likes:

Audio Excerpt: "The fuck? What do I like? Hoho, you guys really wanna go there right?" [New voice: "Private First Class, answer the question.] "Alright, chill out, you'll get your question. I like getting absolutely hammered on weekends, partying, getting wasted-" [New voice: "Mitchell."] "Okay, okay, for real this time. I guess I'm a bit of a music head, I like a wide variety of music, ranging from pop to country to heavy rap that they blasted during boot camp and over in Iraq. A bit of a foodie, I like food I guess, I eat a ton, probably because I burn a ton while working out. As I said before, I enjoy partying like any other normal 20-something year old, or people my age."

Dislikes:

Audio Excerpt: "Dislikes? Well first of all, respectfully, this guy's haircut. I mean Jesus Christ what the fuck did they cut your hair with? A buzzsaw? There's absolutely no-" [New voice: "Focus please Mitchell."] "Okay, fine. I don't like those really fucked up people. You know what I'm talking about? Those people who like, post those super weird ass pictures on Facebook, or like, shit like that. Oh realistically? That's pretty realistic. Fuck. Okay. Fine. I mean, I guess I don't like at all the fact that I'm consistently being exposed to combat and death. That's pretty bad in my case. And honestly, I strongly dislike enclosed spaces. I'm not claustrophobic or anything, but I just hate getting through those cramped little spaces where I can barely move. Those suck balls."

Fears:

Audio Excerpt: "Heights. I'm not saying anything else. I fucking hate heights."

Bio:

Carey Benedict Mitchell was born in Lynchburg, Virginia to Cameron Mitchell and Eddie Mitchell. He was the youngest of the Mitchell family's three sons and of course resulted in being the most ambitious, probably due to the lack of attention given to him by his parents, who were consistently praising his older brothers' academic and athletic feats. While Carey's ambition brought him to higher levels, mainly athletic wise, he struggled academically in school, not living up to his family's expectation of him. Being constantly compared to his eldest brothers, Carey could only take so much before he exploded. And by exploded, it's meant that Carey completely disregarded his parents' plans for him to attend various community colleges, and joined the military instead.

Undertaking boot camp, and thanks to his background in athletics, Carey was able to survive the army's bootcamp in order to finally be assigned a position in the United States Army. Surrounded by his brothers-in-arms, Carey enjoyed his time among them, and continued to bond with them. It took him a while to get over the loss of life when he was finally deployed to Iraq however, and Carey struggled initially to cope with the death of a few of his platoon members following an ambush on his patrol. Eventually after several weeks in Iraq, Carey's first tour had ended and he was shipped back off home. Back home, Carey had difficulty adjusting to the civilian lifestyle once more. Eventually, he adapted, working part time at various convenience stores and grocery stores while mending his relationship with his parents.

Following the conclusion of another tour break, instead of being redeployed to the Middle East, Carey had received orders to report to his Battalion HQ in order to be deployed to the city of Chicago in order to help contain a quarantine over the Windy City. Following his deployment, Carey watched as the situation rapidly spun out of the Military's control, eventually his company coming into contact with what the Military were calling "Zulus", but the civilians were referring to as "the Infected". Their names didn't matter, the only thing that did matter was that they were incredibly hostile to everything, even themselves at times. As Carey's company attempted to fight the Zulus in order to help with evacuation efforts, they were eventually forced back, suffering immense casualties along the way. During the chaos, Carey's squad in A Company's 2nd Platoon, 3rd Squad was tasked with the effort to establish an additional safe zone outside of Chicago. Due to the combat intensifying in the city, Carey's squad suffered four losses after one of their HUMVEES were surrounded and lost.

Now, they're outside of Chicago, with themselves, their personal equipment, a supply truck and their HUMVEES, with their last orders being to establish a safe zone. Uncertainty fills their hearts and minds now, along with the memories of the terrifying beings they have witnessed in Chicago.

Bio: John was born in the small, 4000 people town of Stowe, located in the tiny state of Vermont. His life was calm, average, nothing special. He would love to camp out with his dad, learning all kinds of cool things from him and such. Vermont didn't really have much opportunity, and big cities like Philadelphia and New York were simply too big, so his father tried to look for a job elsewhere. His father finally found a job, as a lumberjack in the New Jersey logging town of Shivering Waters, named that due to a river running through the middle of the town, it was much smaller than Stowe, with only 100 people, very close-knit. John, around 15 was offered to help his father with cutting down some trees, being paid some sweet pocket money for it.

John went to The College of New Jersey in Ewing, which was only around 5-10 miles away from Shivering Waters, getting there didn't take that long, he got to see his father quite a lot. When he got off from school, for a break that lasted around a month, he would work closer with his father while logging, getting a job at the company his father worked at for the month. One day during the month, John and his father look a trip to Chicago, staying with his aunt there for around a week, That proved to be a bad decision when the shit hit the fan, John was out taking a walk and when he got home, escaping zombies, his father and aunt were nowhere to be found. Taking his trusty axe and supplies brought to the city, John rushed outside to find a safer place to survive...

Is it really that big of a deal that he's a bit too young? I'll say he was visiting family then.
If it is that big of a deal, what age should he be at minimum?

20's at the youngest. Unless he's a dropout he'd only just be out of high school at 18, and while I do not claim to be an expert on lumberjacks a teenager seems out of place for such a profession.

I think it's okay. He just graduated and is a newbie lumberjack. Not much work experience yet, but knows what he's doing (hopefully).

And yes, you study to become a lumberjack. I went to a school like that, but took a different programme.

Do note that I speak for Swedish school, where you graduate at 18. I have no idea how it is in America.

Logging's a trade, so his occupation could technically be a logger, he'd only just be an apprentice logger, likely working in a rather sparse work site to avoid any major fuck ups.

Logging's a trade, so his occupation could technically be a logger, he'd only just be an apprentice logger, likely working in a rather sparse work site to avoid any major fuck ups.

Thats what I ment, I'll add the apprentice part at the beginning when I update it next time.

When I think lumberjack I think of some guy with a beard out in the woods with an axe. Logger has different connotations attached to it.

It's like saying a Private and a Sergeant Major are the same, technically yes, but you'll get yelled at for thinking so.
