Nation: THEURGIA

1 - What is the legal drinking age? There is no law on the books regarding drinking age.

2 - Driving age? Automobiles are banned in Theurgia. Citizens travel through public transportation, or on foot/bicycle.

3 - Age of sexual consent? Sliding scale based upon contrasts of age.

4 - Voting age? Voting is illegal in Theurgia. The Supreme Hierophant ultimately makes all decisions.

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? – This law does not apply to Theurgia. Children are raised by communities, not nuclear families.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? – All drugs are legal. Many drugs deemed “recreational” by other cultures are used for religious rites in Theurgia. Heroin and Opium must only be used in Poppy Pits, however. Children are not permitted to use drugs until age 13, at which time they undergo an ancient psychedelic rite of passage.

-Marijuana - legal and popular, even in public, state-sanctioned for use in multiple religious rituals
- Tobacco – legal to grow for own consumption, but illegal to grow for sale.
- Cocaine - legal but very unpopular
-Alcohol – legal, yet the country mostly only consumes mead and wine
- LSD - legal, but considered an unnatural analogue in comparison to better conduits of consciousness-expansion, mostly used by state scientists
- Caffeine - legal, but unpopular, mostly used by state scientists
- Meth - legal, but usage is almost unheard of
- Heroin - legal and marginally popular. Heroin may only be used in “Poppy Pits” and is considered a cult drug.
- Opium - legal, and moderately popular. Opium may also only be used in “Poppy Pits” and is also considered a cult drug.
- Ayahuasca – legal, and a state-sanctioned part of Shamanic ritual
- Peyote - legal, and a state-sanctioned part of Shamanic ritual
- Ergot - legal, and a state-sanctioned part of Theurgic ritual, a main ingredient in Holy Kykeon
- Ecstasy - legal, but only available in a clinical therapeutic setting
- GHB - legal, but largely unpopular
- Salvia Divinorum - legal, and commonly consumed
- Psilocybin - legal, and a state-sanctioned part of Shamanic ritual
- Amanita Muscaria - legal, and a state-sanctioned part of Shamanic ritual
- Iboga - legal, and used in obscure Shamanic ritual
- Ketamine - legal, but marginally popular, mostly used only in “Poppy Pits”
- Tryptamines (DMT, AMT, etc.) - legal, but may only be administered by a Hierophant as these are reserved for intense ritual

7 - Can people have guns? Guns are illegal.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called Formal: The Holy Land of Theurgia// Informal: Theurgia // Citizens: Theurgians

9 - Do you have the death penalty? No, capital punishment is exile

10 - What is the speed limit? Automobiles are banned. There are no speed limits.

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted?
Theurgy (divine magic) is the state religion, although nature-based religions such as Druidism and Shamanism are also culturally accepted. The Order of Violet is a perpetual source of irritation for the Theurgian government, and are restricted to practice on their small autonomous island. Discordians also stir up trouble from time to time, but the government largely tolerates this. Immigrants have introduced foreign religions to Theurgia, such as Hinduism, Baha’i and Buddhism, which are beginning to gain acceptance.

Religions of Theurgia:
Theurgy – 63%
Druidism – 9%
Shamanism – 8%
Order of Violet – 7%
Hinduism – 6%
Discordianism – 5%
Baha’i – 1%
Buddhism – 1%

Theurgy frowns upon religions that are exoteric and orthodox in nature. All mystic versions of religions are considered forms of Theurgy by the government. Therefore religions are not banned outright, but they must encompass a form of Gnosis or face exile.

Which of the following are be legal:

12- Porn – Theurgia is a sexually liberated society, so pornography holds very little appeal, thus no laws exist concerning it

13-Prostitution – Hierodules are very popular in Theurgia, and part of the state religion

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory – This is quite common at festivals and as a daily way of life

15-Homosexuality – All forms of self-identity are legal

16-Stem cell research – There is no law against this

17-Human Cloning – Organs only are cloned, cloning of full beings is illegal and amoral

18-Cock Fighting? Staged animal fights are illegal, and punishable by exile

19-Slavery? – Forced slavery is illegal, voluntary slavery is legal

20-Hunting? – Theurgia is largely vegetarian, there is no impetus to hunt

21-Fishing – The eating of fish is considered blasphemous in Theurgia

22-Eating meat? Although not technically illegal, carnivores are highly shunned, and the government has taken active steps to promote vegetarianism

23-Littering? This is not a problem in Theurgia due to the nation’s religious exaltation of nature

24-Unisex bathrooms ? Theurgia is an unusually gender-neutral country (despite recognizing 5 official genders), unisex bathrooms are common, as well as private, and gender-specific facilities to account for all preferences

25-Suicide? – Suicide is legal, as well as euthanasia

26 - Gay marriage? – All 5 gender types may inter-marry, although group marriages are most popular

27-Abortion – Legal only in warranted cases such as health risk

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? Sex with someone outside of the sliding-scale age range is illegal, rape does not occur thanks to the Hierodule system, bestiality does not occur due to Theurgia’s religious exaltation of nature

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Dress is required in all tourist areas, which lie mainly along the coast. Certain national rituals are performed skyclad, although in general the people are clothed 99% of the time.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene" – Theurgia is considered obscene by many other nation’s standards, but has no obscenity laws of its own

31-What system do you have for taxes?
All income is directed to the state, which cares for all its citizens.

31aSales tax? There is an embedded sales tax on all products purchased by tourists

31bImport/Export tax? These exist, and vary depending on product, however, media exports of religion, art, and entertainment are tax-free

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? Applicants are placed on a one-year probation, during which time they take classes and choose a religion. During the probationary period they are evaluated on Theurgian values, such as respect for Nature, disdain for Capitalism, and a genuine desire for self-actualization.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? Tourists of any creed are welcome but may only visit Theurgia’s hot-vacation-spot coastal cities. Only pilgrims are allowed into the inner sacred lands.

34-What type of government are you? Theurgia considers itself a Liberal Communist Theocracy, although NS generally categorizes the nation as a "Father Knows Best" state

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? The government does not censor the media in any form. In fact, open humour regarding any matters of state is encouraged. The entertainment industry makes full use of this liberty. Though due to Theurgia’s mass psychedelic rituals, most of the nation shares a tight bond.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? We encourage foreigners to visit Theurgia and experience our culture first hand. There is much to see and do in Theurgia, from sandy beaches, to avant-garde entertainment, to highly unique religious rites. Theurgians are encouraged to produce as much art and entertainment as possible for export purposes. Artists of any type are fully supported by the government, and media is sent overseas with the direct purpose of attracting youth away from more restrictive countries.

What is the legal drinking age?
18 for public sale, consumption, or possession.

Driving age? 18. Licensure requires proof of citizenship.

Age of sexual consent? 18.

Voting age? 21.

What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal?
"Harder" drugs such as cocaine, heroin, meth, etc. are illegal, as are hallucinogenics. As for the rest, citizens are encouraged to make their own choices, but if they turn their brains into Swiss cheese, they will find a marked lack of sympathy from official channels. While they technically classify as "drugs", alcohol, tobacco and caffeine are not considered such for the purposes of this statute.

Can people have guns?
An armed society is a polite society. As far as control goes, citizens are encouraged to use both hands.

Do you have the death penalty?
Widely used. If you kill someone, we will kill you right back, and not feel even a little bit bad about it.

What is the speed limit?
Well, that kind of depends on the vehicle, and the type of engine, doesn't it?

What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? You can pray to anyone you like, or nobody. But no whining about how someone else is doing it or not doing it. Also, if you shoot people and blow things up because of it, we will stuff you in a hurt locker and slam the door.

Porn
If you want to look at naked pictures, go ahead.

Prostitution
If you're so sad as to have to pay for it, you can always find someone who will take your money. It's illegal the same way jaywalking is. But it's not recognized, legitimized, or subsidized in any way, shape, or form.

Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory/Homosexuality
Since there are neither tax penalties nor benefits to marriage, and it does not involve civil contracts, the government does not care what consenting adults do to each other as long as they aren't breaking the law or disturbing the peace.

Human Cloning
We've seen enough Friday Night Creature Features to know that there are some things you shouldn't monkey around with. Cloning being one of them. Inquisitive little minds are encouraged to point themselves in other directions.

Slavery?
No. You want someone to work for you, you pay them what the market will bear.

Hunting/Fishing
Go for it. You kill it, you better eat it though. Waste not, want not.

Euthanasia / Right to Death with Diginity
Illegal. If we start running around playing God, what's He going to do?

Abortion
Illegal. No shortage of willing adopter-parents willing to pay pre-natal and birthing costs, though.

What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal?
Rape, Pedophilia, Necrophilia, Bestiality. The government does not care what consenting adults do to each other as long as they aren't breaking the law or disturbing the peace.

What system do you have for taxes?
No income tax. A national sales tax on goods and services covers everything. An esoteric business tax system graded towards non-essential products. Similar to VAT, but considerably more sophisticated in its deployment.

What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? Make application, speak English at a very basic(say 4th grade)fluency level, pass a Citizenship Test that covers basic history and civics.

What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country?
The Lazarus Doctrine is in effect. You know, "give me your poor, your tired..."

What type of government are you?
Our political philosophy is that no government proposal more complicated than "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private" ever works.

To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media?
It's a like a ship. While it is in the best interests of everyone that the ship not founder, it is not in the interest of the rowers to know about every rock fended off, or every shoal avoided. It would only worry them, and put them off their stroke.

Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have?

-Always treat women the way you'd want some other guy to treat your sister or your mother if the situation was reversed.

-It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

-Never hit anyone with your hands if you can hit them with anything else instead. And on that note: If you're going to fight, don't drink. If you're going to drink, don't fight.

-Adapt, Improvise, and Overcome.

-Don't be a cheater. Remember, your word is your bond. Plus, a girl that will cheat with you will cheat on you.

-Lastly, Remember the Seven P's: Proper preparation and planning prevents piss-poor performance.

1 - What is the legal drinking age? Light alcoholic beverages (e.g. Beer, Wine) - 16 years of age, Others (e.g. Wodka, Whiskey, etc.) - 18 years of age

2 - Driving age? 18 years of age. It takes roughly half a year of driving with a certificated driving school/instructor to be ready for the official examination. Roughly 75% of the candidates pass their first examination. A driving license can cost somewhere from $2000-$4000, depending on the number of lessons and the amount of examinations, but it is generally regarded as an absolute necessity to have a driving license, regardless of the state of public transport.

3 - Age of sexual consent? 16 years of age. 18 years of age when appearing in pornographic material.

4 - Voting age? 18 years of age.

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? 18 years of age.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? - Caffeine, Tobacco, Alcohol

- Pot - Prohibited.

- Tobacco - Allowed, but placed under strict regulation and taxed heavily (no smoking in public facilities or in e.g. restaurants. In Bars and cafés who have more than 50% of their revenue coming from selling drinks and alcoholic beverages, it is legal to smoke.)

- Cocaine - Prohibited.

- Alcohol - Allowed, but taxed. It is prohibited to operate any sort of vehicle with more than 2 promille of alcohol in his/her blood.

- LSD - Prohibited.

- Caffeine - Completely legal, coffee is an extremely popular product, especially 'coffee specialities' (e.g. cappuccino, espresso, café au lait, etc.)

- Heroin - Prohibited.

- Other? Narcotics are always prohibited in the Grand Duchy, even though a lively illegal trade exists in narcotics, being brought into the country by smugglers and then transported further over the Autobahn network by drugsrunners in fast automobiles.

7 - Can people have guns? Yes, pistols and hunting equipment are available, even though a license (to be obtained at a law enforcement office) is necessary, which is given out to people with no criminal record and who have passed a psychological test. Members of the GVT, the local defence forces, receive a personal defence weapon with ammunition for them to keep at home, in order to defend themselves during times of war when underway to their mobilisation locations.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called? Formal: The Grand Duchy of Van Luxemburg or Groussherzogtum Vun Lëtzebuerg. Informal: Van Luxemburg of Vun Lëtzebuerg / Citizens: Van Luxemburgers, Vun Lëtzebuergers. The (officially incorrect) word Van Luxemburgians is also accepted.

9 - Do you have the death penalty? No, not in peacetime. In war time, a military tribunal may sentence people to death by firing squad, but only when authorised by the Grand Duke or his replacement.

10 - What is the speed limit? Varies. A-class Autobahns generally have no speed limits, B-class Autobahns are limited to 130 km/h, cantonal roads have a 100 km/h speed limit, other roads outside of towns have an 80 km/h speed limit, inside towns there is a 50 km/h speed limit.

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? All are permitted, unless the religion's practices are known to violate Van Luxemburger law. Religional institutions are not required to pay taxes, as a result of an extremely old law.

Which of the following are be legal: Most.

12- Porn - Legal, unless containing images of acts prohibited by law (e.g. rape, Pedophilia.)

13-Prostitution - Regulated and only allowed inside certain zones. Normally taxed.

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - For Van Luxemburger law, a person can only be married to one other person.

15-Homosexuality - Legal. Campaigns against discrimination of homosexuals are widespread.

16-Stem cell research - Legal.

17-Human Cloning - Illegal.

18-Cock Fighting? Laws against the abuse of animals are in place.

19-Slavery? Illegal. Prisoners who work during their sentence are usually paid per unit following certain standards (even though this pay is way lower than in the rest of the VL society)

20-Hunting? Legal, if one has the correct papers. Most nature preserves are prohibited for hunters. Other areas are often rented to individuals or hunting associations.

21-Fishing - Same as above, though recreational fishing only requires a single permit (even though it is still prohibited to fish in nature preserves)

22- Eating meat? Completely legal.

23-Littering? Illegal, you can be fined for littering. Frowned upon.

24-Unisex bathrooms ? Legal.

25-Suicide? - Even though this is hard to regulate, suicide is officially prohibited. It is legal to be euthanised by a certified doctor/physician. Euthanasia is possible at home or, preferably, in a hospital.

26 - Gay marriage? - Legal.

27-Abortion - Legal, if done in the first 24 weeks of pregnancy. After this time, it is illegal, unless the pregnancy couldn't be diagnosed any earlier. This sort of 'late abortion' requires a short judicial process.

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? Pedophilia, rape, bestiality are examples of prohibited sexual activities. The age of sexual consent is laxly enforced if both parties are consenting.

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Clothing worn out of cultural reasons is usually only common in areas of touristic interest nowadays.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene". - It is prohibited to broadcast pornographic or 'highly erotic' material between 6 o'clock in the morning and 9 o'clock in the evening. This applies to both radio and TV.

31-What system do you have for taxes?
- Income tax? Citizens are taxed based on their yearly earnings. The highest possible tax percentage is 30%, for yearly earnings above $50,000. The first $10,000 of a person's income is not taxed.

31a Sales tax? A 19% VAT is in effect for most luxury goods. a 6% 'necessity' VAT is in effect for foodstuffs (e.g. bread, potatoes)

31b Import/Export tax? Depends on the type of products and its origin (or destination). Export is usually subsidised with the income from the import tax. Allied nations or nations with special economic deals with the Grand Duchy are usually free of any taxation.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? Fluent in Vun Lëtzebuerger and at least one regional language (tested by a language test), and able to pass an examination which will test his or her knowledge about Van Luxemburger society. If either of these two criteria are not met, the subject will need to stay in an immigration camp awaiting her examination results, or awaiting expulsion.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? Generally anyone meeting the criteria, including refugees. Immigrants with a higher education are usually preferred.

34-What type of government are you? Grand Duchy with a Parliamentary system.

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? State secrets or any sort of discrimination or call for hate or terrorism. Media are expected to self-govern themselves, and governmental intervention only takes place when things tend to go wrong.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? Van Luxemburgers are incredibly automobile-minded. They prefer to have an expensive automobile with a powerful engine, that maintains a high level of build quality. These automobiles are usually stored in heated garages, and it is common to see entire streets washing their cars on weekends. Maintenance is usually done in a preventive manner, making sure that the vehicle is always ready and well-maintained. Many households have a second car, usually a smaller automobile to do shopping and local trips, and even a third automobile, usually a convertible or classic car.

Van Luxemburgers are hardworking people. Even though there are regional differences (e.g. the southern regions have the tendency to go on strike earlier than the northern ones), protest is rare and work is paid well. The citizens of the Grand Duchy are fascinated by historic objects and protect their own heritage, including historic buildings. Most Van Luxemburgers live in a detached, semi-detached or terraced house, most of them with a garden. Apartment blocks and highrise buildings are generally rare, and only seen in cities where they are used either for low-income households, or for the rich and famous.

The population is usually friendly and helpful to both their own citizens and foreigners, even though the older generations might have some problems speaking English.

The Constitutional Domains of the Milks Family

1 - What is the legal drinking age? One may buy and consume in public places (e.g. restaurants, bars) at age 15. Consumption in private is not regulated unless it spills over into public places.

2 - Driving age? One may take a rigorous written exam to obtain a learner's permit at age 14. After this, one must log 100 hours behind the wheel with a licensed driver over the age of 25 (preferably an instructor or parent) before being eligible for a comprehensive field exam that may be taken beginning at age 17. Very few people actually have or want licenses because of our widespread, efficient public mass transportation system.

3 - Age of sexual consent? The age of consent is 16. For people under the age of 16, the rule of 1 is used - no one within 1 year of age of a person is considered jailbait in either direction (this covers a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old).

4 - Voting age? One may not be denied the right to vote because of age upon reaching the age of 17. Some provinces have voting ages lower than 17.

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? - One is legally free from parental wardship at age 17. However, the unofficial rule is that if your parents are the heads of household at your dwelling, you still have to abide by whatever rules they establish for that dwelling.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? - See here.

7 - Can people have guns? Those who are mentally competent and know how and how not to use them are not restricted from holding a permit to purchase any kind of firearm or melee weapon.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called?
[*]Formal - The Constitutional Domains of the Milks Family
[*]Informal - The Milks Empire
[*]Demonym - Citizens of the Domain

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Capital punishment is regarded as far too easy on a criminal as compared with a life sentence to a chain gang.

10 - What is the speed limit? Speed limits are set by the provinces, except on Imperial Highways.
[*]Imperial Thruway System (crosses empire from border to border) - 110 km/h
[*]Imperial Expressways (links major cities with ITS) - 100 km/h outside cities, 75 km/h inside cities
[*]Imperial Scenic Highways - 65 km/h

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? Any organized belief system may apply for official recognition (i.e. a census code).

12-Legality of Pornography - People of the age of consent may use pornography depicting people of the age of consent.

13-Legality of Prostitution - Regulated to prevent spread of disease. Pimps are illegal. Groups of prostitutes may gather to form a licensed brothel.

14-Polygamy/Polyamory - Legal for those of the age of consent. It would be stupid not to draw up a prenuptial agreement as with a monogamous marriage. Religious institutions who do not recognize such unions are not required to perform them. Spousal abuse is punishable by law.

15-Homosexuality - Homosexuals have the same rights and responsibilities as any other citizens.

16-Stem cell research - Any embryo not earmarked for use within 5 years of freezing may be used in experiments, but they must be used sparingly.

17-Human Cloning - Organs may be cloned for transplantation. Cloning a full human is illegal because of the potential for abuse.

18-Cock Fighting? - Completely illegal on the grounds of animal cruelty.

19-Slavery? - One may be sentenced to labor on a chain gang. All other forms of involuntary labor are completely illegal.

20-Hunting? - Food hunting is regulated. Sport hunting is forbidden on the grounds of wastefulness.

21-Fishing - Fishing for food is regulated. Fish caught for sport must be returned to the water.

22-Eating meat? - If you don't want to eat it, don't take it.

23-Littering? - Punishable progressively from very stiff fines to chain gang labor.

24-Unisex bathrooms ? - Gentlemen, please remember to leave the seat down if you encounter one.

25-Suicide? - Unregulated but discouraged in private. Assisted suicide is an option for terminal patients.

26 - Gay marriage? - Homosexuals have the same rights and responsibilities as any other citizen.

27-Abortion - Legal up to fetal viability, but very strongly discouraged.

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? Nonconsensual sex in any form is illegal.

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory?
[*]Public sector - Zones are designated where clothing is optional. Such zones are clearly marked. Non-nudists need not enter if they find it offensive.
[*]Private sector - Ask whoever's in charge.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene." - For the most part, our policy is if you don't like it, don't involve yourself with it.

31-What system do you have for taxes? - All taxes on income are very much progressive. Those making above 2009US$500,000 are ineligible for any kind of exemption.

31aSales tax? - Nonexistent. We do not tax what some people might call sin.

31bImport/Export tax? - Nonexistent.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen?
[*]Know the official language of your province.
[*]Pass background check.
[*]Pass health exam.
[*]Pass (highly rigorous) citizenship test.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? Convicted felons (by local standards) and those with highly contagious diseases are generally denied entry.

34-What type of government are you? - Constitutional monarchy with elements from social libertarianism and European-style social democracy

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? - Censorship is unequivocally illegal in the public sector.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have?
Our diverse population has far too many to even attempt to list 2% of them.

All are permitted, though none may legally be endorsed by the state or any state officials.

Which of the following are legal:

12 ) Pornography - Legal, so long as all real-life persons depicted are consenting adults. There is no legislation prohibiting the production and distribution of computer-generated or cartoon pornography.

13 ) Prostitution - Legal on a federal level. Restrictions and regulations may be applied at the discretion of local government officials.

14 ) Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - Legal, assuming all involved participants are consenting adults.

15 ) Homosexuality - No law exists or may be passed that discriminates against any person based on their sexual orientation.

16 ) Stem cell research - Legal.

17 ) Human Cloning - There is currently no specific legislation regarding human cloning in Apertior's law books.

18 ) Cock Fighting? - There is currently no specific legislation regarding cock fighting in Apertior's law books. General laws regarding the proper treatment of animals would apply in such a situation, meaning that cock fighting would, by corollary, very likely be illegal.

19 ) Slavery? - Illegal.

20 ) Hunting? - Legal with a state-issued hunting license. Hunting without a license is punishable by a discretionary fine and a potential jail sentence.

21 ) Fishing - Legal, with certain restrictions on types and quantity of fish.

25 ) Suicide? - Assisted suicide is legal, though thoroughly regulated by the state. Suicide by any other means is outlawed.

28 ) What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? - Any sexual act between two consenting adults is completely legal, excluding sexual acts that could result in permanent physical disfigurement, serious injury, or death.

29 ) Is your country's/culture's clothing optional or mandatory? - There is no legislation dictating what citizens can and cannot wear in Apertior's lawbooks.

30 ) Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene"? - There is no legal definition of "obscenity" in Apertior's lawbooks.

31 ) What system do you have for taxes? - Citizens pay a flat 20% tax on their income. Other taxes are levied based on use of government funded goods and services.

31a ) Sales tax? - So insignificant as to be almost non-existent.
31b ) Import/Export tax? - Under most circumstances, there is no tax on goods exported from Apertior. Average import duty is ≈7%.

32 ) What are the criteria for someone to become a citizen? - In order to be considered for citizenship, the applicant:
  • Must not be a refugee from justice in any sovereign state; must not have been convicted and must not be a suspect of any serious domestic criminal offense in any sovereign state; and must not have been convicted and must not be a suspect of any international criminal activity
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English on an acceptable level
  • Must be sufficiently knowledgeable of Apertian constitutional and criminal law
  • Must pass a state-sanctioned citizenship examination
There is a cap on the total number of immigrants accorded citizenship each year in order to prevent disorientingly large influxes of foreign nationals.

33 ) What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? - Every healthy, law-abiding person of any culture or creed is given the opportunity to immigrate, though foreign nationals with relatives who are already citizens of Apertior are generally given preference in the decision process.

34 ) What type of government are you? - Non-partisan, participatory democracy run under the principles of classical liberalism. The government's responsibilities primarily lie in the protection of civil liberties and political freedoms, and ensuring that corporations don't overstep their fairly generous boundaries.

35 ) To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? - The government is not permitted to censor any media, regardless of its content.

36 ) Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? – Individualism is of the utmost importance, so there are almost no standard cultural rules or norms to speak of.

Tanaara wrote:National Standards - a list of questions about certain Standards & Legalities for your nation- far more defining than the three NS standards:

The Domination of Tanaara.

1 - What is the legal drinking age? Classifications as an Adult, can lose the privilege relatively easily.

2 - Driving age? Depends on mental age - One can test for a license at age 16 (human/ species equivalent) but the younger one is the harder the test is, and the more sternly one is graded and the easier it is to lose the privilege. Most cities have AI assisted auto drive systems, that take in vehicle driving out of 'in vehicle' - and while ‘linking in’ to such a system is not mandatory, vehicular interaction (read wrecks) when the vehicle is under the control of a in- vehicle driver are treated very seriously. Also given that in all cities, Transportal stations are found every couple of blocks, most people prefer to ’Port and walk / ’Port and take the also ubiquitous slide walks. Also walking five to ten miles a day is habitual to most and not even commented upon.

3 - Age of sexual consent? Classification as an Adult - except in those cases when the mentality is not present to give informed, knowing consent. That is then considered the equivalent of rape and is prosecuted accordingly. STD's -, transmission there of- is a whole nother matter.. Lack of Mentality also comprises being under the influence of drugs and or alcohol.

4 - Voting age? Classification as an an adult ,but can lose the privilege. There are certain elections & public polls where it is mandatory to vote and not voting (except under certain exemptions) will garner criminal charges, that could cost one one's citizenship..

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? - Depends on species, humans -generally 17-19 but can go earlier or later, and is possible at any age to end up as a Ward of the Crown.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? - Any - However any and all drug use is predecated on the user being Clssified as an Adult, and using the drugs responsibility. Any crime commited under the influence of drugs will be punished with the utmost harshness.

-Pot - legal and popular, but not in public, and operating under the influence is a heavily punished crime. Hard time

- Tobacco - genetically modified, true low tar and nicotine - legal, moderately popular / ungenetically modified, 'wild' legal, relatively unpopular and heavily taxed.

- Cocaine - legal and virtually unknown, there are other drugs in the Domination that produce better highs without the side effects- Heavily taxed - but not in public, and operating under the influence is a heavily punished crime. Hard time

-Alcohol - legal, moderately popular- but operating under the influence is a heavily punished crime. Hard time

- LSD - legal, but like cocaine, virtually unknown for the same reasons - heavily taxed -but not in public, and operating under the influence is a heavily punished crime. Hard time

- Caffeine - legal, popular - except for within the Elvin/ Sidhe population where it is a mostly fatal toxin and is illegal to sell to them

- Heroin - legal and virtually unknown, there are other drugs in the Domination that produce better highs without the side effects - heavily taxed - but not in public, and operating under the influence is a heavily punished crime. Hard time

- Other? Many - legal, how popular varies and some are illegal - mostly heavily taxed and but generaly not done in public, and operating under the influence is a heavily punished crime. Hard time

7 - Can people have guns? Ownership is a Legal Requirement for Citizens -An armed society is a polite society, and thusly “YES!”, save for those whom have lost the privilege, or those who are not mentally competent. Non Citizen Residents may apply for license. Temporary visa holders and visitors must apply before entering the country, may not buy while in country unless License aplication has been approved and License recieved.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called Formal: The Interstellar Domination of Tanaara// Informal: Tanaara or The Domination / Citizens: Tanaarans

9 - Do you have the death penalty? Yes

10 - What is the speed limit? on the Throughways there are minimums, on surface streets tend not to have limits save in certain areas - the whole of the nation operates under the concept of driving in an non hazzardous manner.

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted? All are permitted, all are restricted -All are taxed unless 75% of all donations recieved are used directly by formal registered charities.

Which of the following are be legal: ALL Are Legal

12- Porn - images of pediphillia & rape are illegal

13-Prostitution - Heavily regulated and taxed, popular in some areas of the nation unpopular in others.

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory - Far more common than monogamy- Polyamory makes up some 75% of all Unions in the Domination

15-Homosexuality - legislate ones sexual identity? Say what?

16-Stem cell research -The Domination is far past this old, proven technology, not used any longer, save for teaching purposes.

17-Human Cloning - Regulated, oversighted and clones have full legal rights, not often done.

18-Cock Fighting? There are no laws against it specifically, but Animal Mistreatment laws are Very harsh.

19-Slavery? -Penal Slavery is legal, debit slavery is legal, but they are closely regulated and over watched by the judiciary.

20-Hunting? Very popular -Eat & use as completely as possible what one hunts, no waste! Non kill 'slap hunting' is very popular and is considered a rite of passage into adulthood in some portions of the Domination

21-Fishing - see above

22-Eating meat? Carnivores R Us, save for those who are Vegan to one degree or another. Veganism is highly unpopular, less than 1% of the Citzens, and less than 5 % of Residents are Vegan.

23-Littering? No laws against but is so unnatural and uncommon

24-Unisex bathrooms ? Say what?

25-Suicide? - Very Rare - Euthanasia / Right to Death with Diginity - legal

26 - Gay marriage? - Any one can join into a Union Contract as long as they are mentally competent. And there are as many different forms of Marriage as there are people. Marriage is the private affair of those getting married.

27-Abortion - Happens Very, Very Rarely, mostly for medical/ therapeutic reasons. But most medical problems can be dealt with by the Dominations highly advanced medical technology.

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? Again “?blink?” except for Rape and pediophilia which can carry the Death Penalty. What consenting adults do is their own business.

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Very much Optional, it is worn for practical purposes and for ornamentation but varies by culture. And also by climated and the presence of large numbers of tourists - Tanaarans are raised to be considerate of others sensibilities.

30-Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene". - Again “?Blink?”

31-What system do you have for taxes?
- Income tax? Citizens pay no income tax, residents pay a flat 15%; resident citizens of another nationality pay 20%

31aSales tax? Thank you C’Tan for putting this so well…An esoteric business tax system graded towards non-essential products. Similar to VAT, but considerably more sophisticated in its deployment.

31bImport/Export tax? Varies on the product and where it is going to or coming from.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? You must perform Federal Service and, if not native born, pass the Citizenship Exam.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? Any but we reserve the tight to either deport with prejudice or execute any visitors found violating the few laws that have a death penalty. The Dominationre does not extradite those who violate death penalty laws back to their nation of residence/ legal citizenship

34-What type of government are you? Modified Elected Autocracy /Dictatorship**

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media? When it comes to ‘of interest to the Domination’ the Crown retains the right of absolute censorship.

36-Aside from laws - what sort of unofficial (and unenforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have? For example – Considering that the Domination has counted in it’s census such species ( & an even wider parade of cultures within species ) as :Humans, Therianthopes, Elves, Dragons, Xa’ Cz’inni, and other races, the cultural rules are as varied as the Stars and as hard to get a grip on. However there are some generally agreed on customs/ traditions –

Don’t eat other sentient beings without prior permission.

Sex in public is generally over the top, but if it does happen, just ignore it and go about your day.

Be responsible; take ownership of your words, deeds, and actions.

Don’t go waving your weapons around in public. If some one is waving a weapon around in public, take a moment to ascertain why they are doing so and then act responsibly.

**A brief Interview with the Queen Mother, HRM Mercedez Merrideath Hexx, can be found here; it primarily details the complexeties of the Tanaaran system of government.

Re: National Standards Questionaire

Postby New Azura » Fri Aug 07, 2009 3:36 pm

1 - What is the legal drinking age?
Alcohol is prohibited in New Azura. As ratified by Addendum XIX of the Articles of Accordance, pursuant to the Prohibition of Alcoholic Consumption and Trafficking: “Parliament hereby authorizes the establishment of a Federal mandate that prohibits the consumption of beverages of an alcoholic nature on Azuran soil; that prohibits the distilling of alcoholic beverages and spirits on Azuran soil, and that prohibits the trafficking of alcoholic beverages and spirits on Azuran soil. Parliament further authorizes the establishment of a Federal mandate that prohibits the possession of narcotic and abusive substances; that prohibits the consumption of narcotic and abusive substances; and that prohibits the trafficking of narcotic and abusive substances. For the purposes of this mandate, narcotic and abusive substances are to be defined as any mind-altering, physically addictive, or unnecessary item or practice that may be consumed, inhaled, or injected without medicinal or practical qualities. Ratified by the Parliament of the Republic. Signed 25th May, 1925.”

2 - Driving age?
There is no specific age for the licensure of the Azuran citizen. Only with the commencement of one’s mandatory military service can a person be granted his operator’s license for motor vehicles.

3 - Age of sexual consent?
No explicit mention of sexual consent is evident in Federal law, with sexual consent standards left up to the Provincial Governments. Cultural customs generally make this practice unnecessary (premarital sex is generally abstained from), but the common age of consent is typically at 18 years of age.

4 - Voting age?
The legal voting age in New Azura is 18 years of age, as defined in our country‘s constitution, the Articles of Accordance.

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)?
Minors are allowed to file for Civilian Status, vis-à-vis terminating their attendance to High School at 16 years of age. Minors are automatically issued Civilian Status at 18 years of age. However, Minors are susceptible to be tried as an Adult/Civilian at 14 years of age. Minors have no authoritative rights, while Civilians maintain basic authoritative rights until the completion of their mandatory military service, at which point they become citizens.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal?
As stated in Addendum XIX of the Articles of Accordance, all recreational drugs (including tobacco) are illegal.

7 - Can people have guns?
Citizens of New Azura are allowed to own firearms. As ratified by Addendum IX of the Articles of Accordance, pursuant to the Azuran Right to Bear Arms and Protection from Quartering: “Parliament shall make no law, nor pass addenda that would infringe upon the right of the Azuran Citizen to maintain and bear Arms, nor make any law or pass addenda that would inhibit the right of the Azuran citizen from refusing to house or quarter a soldier or soldiers of the Federal Republic without due compensation or regard to the objection of the property holder, except in times of duress as defined by a declaration of Parliament and ratified by the Provinces of the Federal Republic of New Azura. Ratified by the 1st Constitutional Congress. Signed 28th November, 1908.” Civilians and Minors are not allowed to own or operate firearms.

8 - What is the official full name of your country? What is the informal name? What are people of your nation called?
The official name of our country is the Federal Republic of New Azura. Informally, the country may be referred to by any of its previous incantations: the Holy Sovereign Commonwealth, New Azura, or simply Azura. Minors, civilians, and citizens of our country are known as Azurans.

9 - Do you have the death penalty?
Capital punishment is illegal in New Azura. As ratified by Addendum X of the Articles of Accordance, pursuant to the Azuran Right to Life: “Parliament shall make no law, nor pass addenda that would restrict or preempt the birth of a person or persons born to a woman on Azuran soil by means of an unnatural termination, nor make any law or pass addenda that would allow a criminal indicted on a charge or charges of a capital, civil, or otherwise statutory crime or crimes to be deprived of their life by the Federal Government or the Provincial Governments, nor make any law or pass addenda legalizing the practices of human euthanasia on Azuran soil in respect to the natural rights endowed by the Creator upon the People of the Federal Republic of New Azura. Ratified by the 1st Constitutional Congress. Signed 28th November, 1908.”

10 - What is the speed limit?
The nationally recognized speed limit on Expressways is 85 Km/H, with Provincial Highways, Roadways, and City Thoroughfares set by their respective governances.

11 - What types of religions are permitted or restricted?
Christianity is the recognized and official religion of New Azura. As ratified by Addendum I of the Articles of Accordance, pursuant to the Protection of the Christian Azuran: Parliament shall make no law, nor pass addenda that would regulate or restrict the Christian Church in New Azura, nor shall it make any law or pass addenda requiring duties or taxes paid by the churches. Parliament shall make no law, nor pass addenda that would interfere with the autonomy of the Christian Church. Ratified by the 1st Constitutional Congress. Signed 28th November, 1908.” Other religions are not specifically prohibited or restricted, but no Federal or Provincial law exists to protect or preserve these institutions. Other religions, including those of agnostic or atheist beliefs, account for less than 5% of the entire population.

Which of the following are be legal?

12 - Pornography?
In the landmark High Court Case, Johnson & Carver v. The Federal Republic of New Azura, the High Court Justices ruled in a 7-2 decision that pornographic materials constitute the basis for an unhealthy and destructive addiction, and have therefore been deemed illegal pursuant to Addendum XIX of the Articles of Accordance.

13 - Prostitution?
Subsequent visitations of the verdict in the Case of Johnson & Carver v. The Federal Republic of New Azura have deemed that prostitution may be constituted as a potential destructive addiction, and has therefore been deemed illegal pursuant to Addendum XIX of the Articles of Accordance.

14 - Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory?
In the landmark High Court Case, Welsh v. First Baptist Church of Oak Hill, the High Court Justices ruled in a 9-0 decision that the Biblical principle of marriage denotes “one man, one woman”. Therefore, various offices of marriage have been deemed illegal pursuant to Addendum I of the Articles of Accordance, including the practices of polygamy, polyandry, and gay marriage.

15 - Homosexuality?
While gay marriage is illegal in New Azura, no specific Federal or Provincial law or mandate has been established to outlaw the practice of homosexuality. However, homosexuality is generally absent from New Azuran culture.

16 - Stem cell research - To cure disease like Diabetes?
No official Federal mandate has been established to prohibit or legalize the conducting of stem cell research. As of August 2009, all seventeen Provinces of New Azura have made the conducting of stem cell research illegal. The High Court of New Azura is preparing to hear a potential landmark case, Braswell v. Lowery, which would establish a Federal mandate making stem cell research illegal throughout the nation, as pursuant to Addendum X of the Articles of Accordance.

17 - Human Cloning?
No official Federal mandate has been established to prohibit or legalize the conducting of human or animal cloning. As of August 2009, all seventeen Provinces of New Azura have made the conducting of cloning illegal. It is not yet known at this time if the High Court Case of Braswell v. Lowery will allow for a provision for or against human cloning.

18 - Cock Fighting?
No official Federal mandate has been established to prohibit or legalize the conducting of cockfighting. As of August 2009, all seventeen Provinces of New Azura have made the conducting of cockfighting or any other practices deemed cruel, inhumane, and barbaric to animals illegal.

19 - Slavery?
As defined in multiple locations within the Articles of Accordance, slavery has been and always shall be deemed illegal.

20 - Hunting?
Provinces are responsible for the regulation and implementation of hunting. Hunting is permitted in fourteen of the seventeen Provinces (Chatham, Kingsland, Madyson, Molien, North Britannica, Olympia, Queensland, San Mercedes, South Britannica, Sylva, Valeriya, Verandah, Vernelle, and Vespera). Only the Provinces of Averdon, Saxony, and Valora have made the practices of hunting illegal as of August 2009.

21 - Fishing?
Fishing is regulated by the individual Provinces, and is allowed in all seventeen Provinces as of August 2009.

22 - Eating meat?
The consumption of meat is allowed in New Azura.

23 - Littering?
Provinces are responsible for the regulation of penalties for the act of littering. As of August 2009, all seventeen Provinces have criminalized the act of littering.

24 - Unisex bathrooms?
Provinces are responsible for the regulation of unisex facilities. As of August 2009, there are no current restrictions on the implementation of unisex facilities, though this practice is generally frowned upon by Azuran society.

25 - Suicide?
Suicide has been deemed to violate Addendum X of the Articles of Accordance, and is therefore illegal. As of August 2009, there has yet to be a Federal or Provincial mandate criminalizing the attempted act, however.

26 - Gay marriage?
Subsequent visitations of the verdict in the Case of Welsh v. First Baptist Church of Oak Hill have deemed that gay marriage is illegal pursuant to Addendum I of the Articles of Accordance.

27 - Abortion?
Abortion is expressly prohibited in New Azura.

28 - What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ?
There are no specific Federal mandates defining the legality or illegality of specific sexual practices. However, all seventeen Provinces have passed “Decency” laws that prohibit such sexual acts as bestiality. Adult stores and clubs, such as strip clubs, have been deemed an extension of pornography, and are thus illegal in New Azura. Sexual battery, rape, and sexual assault are classified under the Federal Penal Code of New Azura as "Crimes Against Nature" and are punishable as a major felony offense (carrying the potential for life imprisonment).

29 - Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory?
Federal policy has long since established that it is up to the individual Provinces to mandate policies on clothing. As of August 2009, all seventeen Provinces have passed mandates requiring all people to wear a shirt, shorts or pants, and shoes in public places except at recreational places such as a beach, lake, river, or water park, where bathing suits may be worn instead. Azuran culture generally frowns upon public nudity, and views the subject as being taboo.

30 - Do you have obscenity laws? If so - how would you define "obscene"?
All seventeen Provinces have enacted “Decency” laws: various ordinances designed to prohibit public nudity and overt swearing. Generally, these “Decency” laws also entail explicit sexual acts viewed as illegal by the Provincial governances. In Azuran culture, “obscene” material is defined as anything that does not glorify God or contribute to the harmonious environment of the public atmosphere and conscience. As late as the early 1980s, Agencies were in place to prohibit the broadcast or accessibility of television shows, movies, video games, and music that did not contain a fundamental Christian message. Beginning in the 1980s, however, the Government eased restrictions considerably on what could and couldn’t be seen in New Azura. The “Americanization” of the Radio was a major event, and ‘80s Rock and Pop remain popular even today amongst Azuran minors. Violent video games and movies are not generally prohibited from viewing, but such multimedia has never traditionally sold in New Azura, and no major market for the material exists. The Federal Council for Azuran Multimedia (FCAM) issues parental advisory ratings on television broadcasts, movies, and video games.

31 - What system do you have for taxes?
The Federal Government is authorized by the Articles of Accordance to levy taxes on the Azuran people to help sustain the operations of governance. Addendum XVIII of the Articles of Accordance established a Federal Income Tax to be collected by the Government annually. In May 2009, a Provincial Referendum created Addendum XXII, pursuant to the Protective Clause on Taxation for the Azuran People: “Parliament shall not invoke its rights or privileges to make any law, nor pass addenda that subjugates the Azuran people to any undue taxation, using the guidelines set forth by the Articles of the Accordance, and all pertinent references herein to establish the taxation code as deemed appropriate by the People of the Provinces of the Federal Republic of New Azura. Ratified by the 1st Provincial Referendum on Government Reform. Signed 1st May, 2009.” As of August 2009, the current flat income tax rate is 66%, though this figure will be reduced by the current sitting session of Parliament to bring the Federal Government in accordance with Addendum XXII. The Provinces have used Addendum XVII of the Articles of Accordance (pursuant to the Interpretive Power of the Provincial Governments) to create their own individual tax systems.

31A - Sales tax?
There is a 4% Federal Sales Tax in place as of August 2009. The individual Provinces have also incorporated various Sales Taxes ranging from 2% (South Britannica) to 8% (Madyson).

31B - Import/Export tax?
Throughout most of the twentieth century, Parliament enacted high Protective Tariffs on imported goods to help protect domestic production of goods. In August of 2009, Parliament was forced to begin lowering these Tariffs in light of the current trade deficit. There are no substantial export taxes enacted by the Federal or Provincial Governances.

32 - What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen?
All natural born persons in New Azura become a citizen automatically with the completion of their compulsory two year military service. Any non-naturalized persons wishing to become citizens must complete a five year evaluation period while living in New Azura without stoppage, and must furthermore undergo a Citizenship Test administered by the Office of Immigration and Naturalization in Williamstown, the national capital. After the successful completion of these requirements, the applicants may complete a two year tour in the military and obtain their citizenship. Applicants over the age of 30 may apply to the Federal Work Corps instead to obtain their citizenship. Applicants over the age of 65 (the Federally recognized retirement age) are automatically granted citizenship, but are not permitted any of the social benefits offered by the Government without enrollment in the Federal Work Corps first.

33 - What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country?
Almost anyone is welcomed into New Azura without restraint, except in cases where a person trying to enter the country is a known or suspected terrorist. Tourists are free to enter the country with a passport, and persons may move to New Azura by obtaining a temporary or permanent visa.

34 - What type of government are you?
New Azura is a Federal Constitutional Republic, operating three distinct branches of governance (Parliamentarian, Administrative, and Judicial). The Articles of Accordance, completed in 1908, serves as the constitution for New Azura. The three main heads of government include the Prime Minister (Parliamentarian), the President (Administrative) and the High Court Chief Justice (Judicial), who act as a tripartite in establishing Government policy.

35 - To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media?
There are no current mandates that expressly allow the Federal or Provincial governances to restrict multimedia for reasons other than pornographic content.

36 - Aside from laws, what sort of unofficial (and un-enforced) cultural rules and traditions do you have?
Azurans are highly protective of their faith, and generally take it upon themselves to initiate change in the private sector. There is an unwritten standard that requires people to pay an “Adoption Tax” through the Azuran Federal Adoptive System through their workplaces. Though optional, almost 90% of people pay the tax to help fund government run orphanages and adoptive services.

1 - What is the legal drinking age-

16, though in practice, there is little enforcement of proof of age.

2 - Driving age?

16, however, licenses can be purchased via grease payments to the private contractors authorized to give them, ranging from 5000-10,000 Rials.

3 - Age of sexual consent?

15 or within 3 years age difference. Having sexual relations with a minor under 15 is considered a crime punishable by 10 years imprisonment. Relations with a minor under the age of 12 is considered rape and is a capital offense.

4 - Voting age?

Elections are illegal, calling for elections can result in execution.

5 - At what age would someone become an adult (free from parental control)? -
18, though males who enlist in the Immortals Corps at 16 are considered adults.

6 - What types of recreational drugs (if any) are legal? -
Basically all are legal, though government understandings with buisnesses tend to keep particularly damaging and odious drugs out of the public market.

Cannabis- Cannabis seeds are actually consumed like sunflower seeds very commonly, though the wild, uncultivated strains used for the purpose of seed consumption don't provide much intoxicating effect at all. Cannabis consumption is somewhat common in the form of hashish or marijuana, and can be sold to anyone aged 16 or over. Driving a car under the influence of cannabis, is, however, a serious crime.

Tobacco- - 55% of male Parthians smoke cigarettes, including the Shah. Cigars and qalyouns (also called hookahs) are exceptionally popular as well. Smoking bans are unheard of and are actually illegal, though private establishments are free to decide whether or not they wish to be smoke free, though few do. There is no age to purchase tobacco, due to lobbying by Parthian tobacco companies.

Cocaine - Legal, but not especially popular. Can be purchased in some nightclubs in Persepolis and often appears in parties amongst Parthia's nouveau riche, cocaine is taxed heavily and is therefore, uncommonly seen outside of upper income social circles.

Alcohol - Popular. Wine consumption in Parthia is an ancient tradition, with the valleys around Shiraz having given birth to the wine of that name over 2500 years ago. While liquor is as easy to find as anywhere else, and beer is becoming increasingly popular, wine is still the most commonly sold alcoholic beverage in Parthia, often serving as an accompaniment to dinners and lunches. Sweeter variants of Parthian wine, which is nearly all red, are also popular in the summer. Age to purchase is 16, but consumption is legal at any age.

LSD - Legal, but understandings between vendors and the government mean that the drug is rarely, if ever, found for sale in Parthia. LSD is often said to be a leftist mind control substance, and is associated with the hippies of the 1960s in Parthia. Age to purchase is 18.

Caffeine - Tea is probably the most popular beverage in Parthia and is commonly drunk by all segments of the population. Coffee is becoming increasingly popular, but is most commonly found in the heavy, strong, Turkish preparation. No age to purchase or consume.

Heroin - Legal, but uncommon. Produced for export mostly from excess opium. Seen as dangerous by most of the population, and the availability of other opiates tends to limit the market for heroin. Age to purchase is 18.

Other? MDMA is commonly found in nightclubs, but is not adulterated and is thus, less dangerous. Opium is produced heavily for export, and is sold domestically as well, with younger urban professionals being the largest consumers. Age to purchase is 18 for both. Crystal Meth and Crack cocaine are exceptions to Parthia's typically tolerant policy towards drugs, being seen as entirely unwelcome and incredibly dangerous drugs. Use is not banned, but selling, importing, or producing them can result in imprisonment.

7 - Can people have guns?

Yes, all politically loyal citizens have a full right to bear arms, assuming they have not committed any serious crimes in the past.

8 - What is the official full name of your country?

Full Name: The Plutocratic Shahdom of Parthia. Informal Name: Parthia. Citizens are referred to as Parthians.

9 - Do you have the death penalty?
Yes, for most serious crimes.

10 - What is the speed limit?
Residential roads tend to be private property and thus, vary in their speed limit. Public urban streets tend to vary from 30km/h to 65km/h. Rural roads and motorways built as public goods do not have speed limits.

11 - What types of religions would are permitted or restricted?
Zoroastrianism is the official religion, but Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and Hinduism are seen as traditional historic minority religions and are fully tolerated and given equal protection under the law. Irreligion is also considered legal. Islam is legal, but prosetelyzation is restricted, and Islamic organizations are often the target of security crackdowns. Parthian society tends to be vehemently anti-Islamic due to historical reasons. Wicca, Scientology, and Satanism are banned.

Which of the following are be legal:

12- Porn - Legal if depicting adults

13-Prostitution - Legal, but uncommon outside Persepolis due to conservative values predominating across most of Parthia which make 'agents of immortality' like prostitutes victims of vigilantism.

14-Polygamy/ Polyandry/ Polyamory -
Polygamy is legal, but practiced only by the upper classes. It is, however, increasingly uncommon.

15-Homosexuality - Legal, technically, but civil marriage does not exist, and religious organizations in Parthia do not consecrate homosexual unions. Equally, outside Persepolis, it is exceptionally uncommon given the reactions of most Parthians towards it.

16-Stem cell research - Legal.

17-Human Cloning - Legal, but with certain standards.

18-Cock Fighting? Legal, but not part of Parthian culture and thus, not practiced.

19-Slavery? - Inmates are used as slave labor, and some criminals can be given to their victims as slaves.

20-Hunting? Uncommon. Hunting licenses are somewhat expensive, and hunting preserves somewhat rare, resulting in it being a mostly upper class practice.

21-Fishing - Not common given the lack of surface water outside certain regions.

22-Eating meat? Near unanimous. Vegetarian organizations like PETA are banned.

23-Littering? Token fine.

24-Unisex bathrooms ? No.

25-Suicide? - Euthanasia is legal, but suicide in general is rare.

26 - Gay marriage? - Does not exist.

27-Abortion - Legal, but not common. The Arab, Hazara, and Turkmen minorities, however, are often the victims of forcible abortions by Parthian authorities to "cull the population."

28- What types of sexual activity (if any) are illegal ? Rape, sexual relations with underaged minors, and various forms of public indecency.

29-Is your country's/culture clothing optional or mandatory? Western clothing is the norm in Parthia.

30-Do you have obscenity laws?
Not for broadcast media.

31-What system do you have for taxes? -
7.5% flat income tax, 2.5% national sales tax. Excise taxes are placed on alcohol at 1 rial per liter, cigarettes at 0.10 rial per pack, and drugs at 100 rial per kilogram. Cocaine is taxed at 10,000 rial per kilogram. Corporate income tax, inheirtance tax, property tax, and graduated income tax are banned for "socialist leanings."

31aSales tax?
2.5% sales tax applied to all products.

31b Import/Export tax?

Import tariffs are only applied to match tariffs on Parthian goods. Therefore, countries without tariffs on Parthian goods do not have tariffs on their goods imported into Parthia.

32-What is the criterion for someone to pass to become a citizen? Birth to at least one parent who is a citizen, or, alternatively, one of three methods. The first is by government granting of citizenship or residency, something which usually only is granted to important individuals, such as ousted heads of states. Alternatively, a person may invest 5,000,000 Rial into a Parthian buisness, or, pass a citizenship exam after 10 years residency and prove the ability to speak Persian fluently.

33-What types of people do you allow (or not allow) into your country? Tourists are welcome, but citizens of Communist nations have restricted access.

34-What type of government are you? Plutocratic absolute monarchy

35-To what degree is your government allowed to censor or restrict the media?
The government has full right to restrict and censor the media, but chooses to do so via collusion with media companies, who, in return for certain guarantees, censor anything which is against Parthia's ultra-capitalist, terminally right wing agenda. Those who resist can disappear in the middle of the night courtesy of SAVAK, the Parthian secret police force.
"And as you approach Parthia's prisons..."What's that buzzing noise, a factory?"
"No, that's all the carrion flies near the prison."
-New Edom

Because profit is more important than morality, obviously.
