Short Bio: Anthony Conti was born in Bethesda, Maryland on April 12th, 1981. His mother divorced his father shortly after he was born, as the man himself was abusive. From that time on, life was hard for the young Anthony. His mother worked two jobs to put him through school, and he did considerably well. However, when he was a senior in high school, he began to realize that he was not "normal," as it were. He began to realize that he was gay, and did not tell anyone about it out of fear (after all, this was during the time of DOMA and DADT, and homophobia was considerably high at the time). Anthony went to work for his Bachelor's in International Relations at UMD. Shortly after graduating in 2003, he joined the Army as a Private, and was subsequently deployed to Iraq. He served for two years before he was ultimately wounded by shrapnel from an IED near Fallujah. Awarded the Purple Heart in 2005, he would have continued his career in the Army except for two things: first, he met the love of his life, his platoon sergeant, a Staff Sergeant Alexander Ramos (age 30 at that time); second, as a result of this romance and the rumors that spread, both men were granted a dishonorable discharge under the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy. The two men would rent an apartment in Anthony's hometown of Bethesda, with Alexander working as an accountant for a small company, and Anthony interned for the National Democratic Institute in Washington, DC, a left-leaning nonprofit that focused on democratization efforts on a global scale. In 2006, Anthony worked for his MA on Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs at American University, and graduated with said Master's Degree in 2008. From 2008 to 2013, Anthony worked full-time for the NDI as an Assistant Associate for the Middle East and North Africa programs. Anthony and Alexander married on August 5th, 2013, and later in that year, Conti was approached by representatives from the state Democratic party. They wanted him to run for the soon-to-be open seat in U.S. Senate as a primary contender.

When the Democratic primary season came, the race was tight. One of Anthony's opponents made the mistake of citing Conti's dishonorable discharge as a reason for local Democrats to refuse to support his candidacy. At which point, Anthony drew statewide headlines in not only revealing the reason behind that discharge (Don't Ask Don't Tell), but by staking a firm position that he would work to overturn DADT should he be elected. Conti eventually won the Democratic primary, touting his ideals and experience as a Veteran in order to sidle into first place. With the state leaning Democrat already, he had a lead against his Republican contender, who focused more on nativist populist ideals. His lack of moderation (and outreach to minority voters) would spell that candidate's downfall on November 8th, 2014. Anthony Conti won with about 58%, in the end due to moderate Republicans and Independents voting for him over the Republican candidate, as well as a mobilization of the Democratic base throughout the state. Now, the Senator from Maryland is working to cement his hold on his seat for the 2020 elections, but he also intends to ensure that an equal rights bill is passed to protect LGBT Americans from discrimination.

Other Info: Anthony Conti and Alexander Conti are working on adopting a child and his mother is dying of cancer, so he may be distracted for a bit. Conti was raped by a colleague when he was in university, but he has kept that information hidden up until the discussion of the SNIP bill.

Short Bio: Born to Mexican immigrants in Arizona, June 15th 2974, Ray Ramirez was originally from Pheonix, but the strangling poverty his parents found themselves forced his family to move to Los Angeles. His mother received a job at a local convenience store, while his father worked as a gardener.

Ray was a good student in school, and got a job early, working and saving his money for college. He was eventually accepted into Stanford, graduating with honours. His father was killed during this period in a gang shoot out, where he was caught in the crossfire. Ray was deeply affected by this, and, after graduating law school, became a well known attorney, prosecuting several high profile criminals. Ray married his wife, Vicktoria Rutherford, in 1999, and they have two young children, Ella (b. 2002) and David (b. 2006). In 2000, Ray won the nomination for the 26th Congressional District for the Democratic Party. He proved to be a popular and high profile latino candidate, and won in a landslide. He was a common guest on several cable news channels and talk shows, and became known for his soaring rhetoric and searing debate style. He was defeated in 2006 however, by his Republican challenger, who motivated the wealthier and more affluent areas of the District to vote against Ramirez.

Still a high profile Democrat, Ramirez endorsed Barack Obama for President, and continued his support throughout the campaign, adopting Obama's liberal ideology. Ramirez ran for the Democratic Gubernatorial nomination in California in 2010, and won a hard fought primary against former Governor Jerry Brown. Ramirez defeated GOP challenger Meg Whitman in the subsequent General Election, and at the age of 36, became one of the youngest Governors in the country. He soon proved electrifying among the younger and minority voters, and under his leadership, California balanced its budget and instituted a radical energy plan known as the Green Shift. The Green Shift was an increase on industrial taxes tied to pollution and the use of carbon, while taking the extra revenue as a pillow to cut taxes for lower and middle class families. Ramirez also is an ardent supporter of LGBTQ rights and has marched in several pride parades. He is pro-choice, despite his Roman Catholic faith, and is a known internationalist.

His economic plan and environmental policies were big targets for the GOP in the 2014 elections, however, Ramirez' mobilization of the middle and minority classes, along with his superior campaign, lead him to a narrow victory of GOP challenger Neel Kashkari.

He has since vowed to continue his policies. While there were whispers he would run for the 2016 Democratic Nomination for President, he decided against it, and chose only to endorse another candidate.

Short Bio: Andrew Sloan was born in 1970 in a suburb of Detroit to an alcoholic father and an adulterous mother. As he grew up, he often read the works of Nietzsche, Marx, and Hitler, and was once suspended from his high school for calling a Muslim teacher a 'filthy pig' and encouraging him to commit suicide. After the mysterious death of his cousin, he inherited his uncle's construction company and used the profits gained from a salary cut for his workers to pay off his student debts from Ohio State University. In 2004, he sold his entire company and set up an aerospace startup with factories and test sites in Pennsylvania and Colorado. His new business began to accumulate profits through contracts with space agencies and other corporations around the world, but he was known to be extremely harsh on his employees, especially nonwhites. Finally, just a month ago, Sloan decided to expand his expertise into the realm of politics and declared that he would be running for president in 2016 as an independent. During his declaration of candidacy, he described himself as a 'nationalist' and promised to turn America into a superpower yet again.

Born August 26, 1977 to Jane and Steven Florrick in Alaska where she stayed for much of her childhood. Until she enlisted in the US Air Force at 18. having served 3 years before leaving in 1998 with the rank of Senior Airman. She served two tours stationed in Europe (Britain & Germany). In Late 1998 she attended NYU completing a law degree and graduated in 2005. From 2005-11 she worked at the District Attorneys office in New York County rising quickly to become a Deputy at the office having earned a reputation as one of the cities best prosecutors due to her unique style.

Having been a life-long Democrat (despite her families conservative beliefs) Alicia decided that enough was enough. For too long the politicians in her state seemed to care more about re-election than serving the people. but she thought that continuing her work in the DA's office was the best way to try and effect real change in her district. That is until 2011. Having seen the same 'good old boys' declare their re-election candidacy again. She decided to throw her hat in the ring and run for senate. After all what did she have to lose? She feels that the rich should pay their share. Stricter campaign finance reform and regulation on big business. But is much more moderate on issues such as foreign policy believing in a 'call it like i see it' approach and not being afraid to use american military influence. She also is a member of the Foreign Relations committee and although supports military intervention. she feels that a 'pivot' is needed and some military funds should be diverted to the State department as the US should focus on 'Soft Power' and try to exert influence through diplomacy.

Come January 2017 Alicia will assume the post of Senior Senator for New York due to James Harper's decision not to run for reelection.

Main Weaknesses: A very poor debater. Not a good public speaker. Still new to the game in politics. Coming from a red state, has made several compromises with the legislature that anger ideologues. Short Bio:
Esperanza Huerta was born as the child of immigrants, very recent immigrants, from Mexico, where they were part of the aristocratic upper crust. She was born in Miami into a great deal of wealth, with her family having fled to the states after accusations of corruption, bribes, double-dealing and some unsavory activity caught up to them. Her parents soon started a small but profitable cruise line as they set themselves up in the States.
Esperanza was an only child and was afforded the best tutors from a very young age, and went to private schooling, pushed hard from her parents and herself, without interacting much with others. She got her degree in Chemistry at Cambridge University before returning home.

At the age of twenty-two, both of Huerta’s parents were killed in a boat explosion, and she inherited their wealth. She focused her business skills on the cruise line, and over the next decade threw herself into growing it by all means she could, a dedication that led to pain in her love life. Through that time, she was extremely harsh in her methods, undercutting, acquiring, and selling off rivals at a vicious pace. Some people compared her to a modern Rockefeller though, as she was vicious in the business world, but well known for charity outside of her deals.
By 2012 Huerta Cruise had taken over Carnival and Royal Caribbean to become the largest and most dominating cruise line in the world, and Huerta integrated vertically, investing heavily in shipbuilding, and a risky move in biofuel, becoming the first major company of her type to rely entirely on the renewable fuel source. The yards at Mayport became a major economic driving force in the region.

In 2014, Huerta made her play into politics. She ran for Governor on a platform of economic growth and social justice, playing off of her business acumen and strong reputation and name recognition, and pulled off a successful campaign, winning with 54% of the vote.

When she came into office for the Florida legislative session, she immediately proved herself just as aggressive in politics as in business, if not more. She faced a legislature with strong Republican majorities in both chambers and was forced to wheel and deal, and aggressively promoted legislation. She worked through a platform of business-friendly policies, with cuts in taxes, along with some worker protection and pro-minority legislation, a fairly broadly popular platform. Her overhaul of the tax codes axed several major loopholes, include the infamous “cow loophole”. These included some loopholes that Huerta Cruise used, and the company posted losses in both of her first two years in office.

Nationwide the fairly well-known woman turned heads with both her election in a state that was very red in state-level politics, that hadn’t had a single Democrat house or Governor in the 21st Century, and was pointed at by many as a potential face of the Democratic Party going forward. DNC officials though were often frustrated by Huerta’s unwillingness to step in with the party, and her focus on her own state of Florida, and governing it.

RP START

In 2016, some expected Huerta to run for President, but she declined to, focusing on Florida instead. She made an unexpected break from her provincialism when she decided to endorse Governor Kailen Murray for President, and campaigned for him in Wyoming. Murray’s later actions caused her to regret her decision, and she publicly apologized to the people of Florida, withdrawing her endorsement and vowing not to endorse any candidate in the primaries or intangle herself with the candidates, focusing on her state politics again. She kept to her promise and stayed out of the primaries even during the massive WAC crisis. She did speak up though when Governor Ramirez of California installed Senator Conti into the race as a puppet, blasting the Governor for playing politics instead of acting like a force of unity. She spoke also at the American Unity event.

In her second legislative session Huerta has a focus on pushing through more business-friendly reform combined with some environmental pieces and is currently working with the legislature on those issues.

She also always wears a Patek Philippe Rose Gold Calatrava watch with her initials carved into the back.

Her charisma, good looks, and high intelligence make her a natural fit for politics.
She swept her gubernatorial election despite having lost in 2011/2, and is quite popular in her home state.

Short Bio: Emma was born into an "old money" Cajun family in the city of Mandeville, Louisiana. Historically, the Bellefontaine family had been one of the first families to leave France again after their deportation from Acadia, or modern-day Nova Scotia, by the British, arriving in the Northernmost part of what is now the Louisianian region of Acadiana in 1765. Despite originally being dairy farmers back in their old home in Nova Scotia, the Bellefontaines, starting from next to nothing, began a farm focused on wheat and potatoes. This farm, known as Bellefontaine Place, was located in the modern-day parish of Avoyelles. Bellefontaine Place subsisted on their own for a little while, scratching out a living for approximately three decades. However, two years after the Louisiana Purchase, Maximillien Bellefontaine, head of the farm at the time, transformed the place into a sugar plantation. When they began the plantation in 1807, they owned two slaves, and most of the family had to help out on the plantation as well. But by the time Lousiana had been signed into statehood, Bellefontaine Place had become known as one of the largest sugar operations in the state of Louisiana, and the family's wealth only continued to grow as the plantation expanded, buying out neighbours and plots of land to expand their operation. By the eve of the American Civil War, the Bellefontaines owned one hundred and thirty eight black slaves, making them the third largest sugar plantation in the state aside from Belle Grove, with one hundred and fifty slaves, as well as Nottoway, with one hundred and seventy six. Fortunately, however, the Antebellum Era came to an end with the succession of the South and the inset of the American Civil War, which ruined the Bellefontaines both financially and socially, with most of the male family members killed by the Civil War.

Those that survived found that most of their vast fortune had been squandered on supporting the Confederacy financially, and between the three surviving male members of the Bellefontaines, they had little over 18,000$ between them. While this was nothing for the second-generation ex-plantation owners, it would be worth roughly 230,000$ today. The three brothers split what money they had between them and went their separate ways, with one branch of the family moving to New Orleans, one branch of the family maintaining the now-defunct Bellefontaine Place, and Emma's branch of the family moving to Mandeville and using their money to begin a real estate empire. Over the years, they managed to slowly shed the reputation of slave-holding magnates through a combination of time, shrewd diplomatic practices, and not-so-genuine charity towards African Americans. By the time Emma was born in 1979, the Bellefontaines of Mandeville, LA, had effectively shed their ill-repuation, though their very-distant cousins that still maintained the Bellefontaine Place still, to some extent, maintained the aforementioned reputation.

Emma Victoria Bellefontaine was born on December 30th, 1979, in Lakeview Regional Medical Center, some few miles out from Mandeville. She had a fairly quite childhood, with her father, Ferdinand Bellefontaine, working as the head of Bellefontaine Real Estate, and her mother being a homemaker. Biography:

Katharine Hobbes was born on January 5, 1982 in Concord N.H as Katherine Altenburger. Coming from a conservative small business family she didn't have a particurarly difficult childhood. Her parents owning a grocery store had better and worse days, occasionali having the ability to occasionally buy her something new or interesting. This is why Katharine in her early childhood took an interest in gaming, even if for a short while, even if on one console with a small number of games. Despite it not being a long lasting hobby ever since then she always tried to keep up we technological trends, greatly helping her in her future career as a journalist and radio host.

Her youth wasn't always great, though. When Katharine was 16 her parents started having financial problems. She went to great lengths to help them while fighting (and defeating) her teenage shyness and anxiety by getting a part-time jobe at one of the regional radio stations. On one particular night, a chain of fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on the perspective) events led to her having to fill in for that night's host. She took the oppurtunity and gave a spectacular show, brining something new and refreshing. And although she didn't have an another oppurtunity like that at said company, she had time to practice and was noticed by a number of other radio stations. Two years later, at only 18 years old she was hired as a full time host at a different radio network. This helped her pay her tuition while attending the University of New Hampshire, which she graduated with a degree in Economics. A couple of years after graduation she started hosting her own show called "Talks with Hobbes" with a state-wide reach, becoming an influencial and somewhat notorious local celebrity.

In 1999, at the age of seventeen she married her high school sweetheart Andrew taking his last name Hobbes which she has already been using a year prior during the previously mentioned radio audition (See: Wierd high school girl stuff). Her career and lifestyle did not give her a chance to have children.

Politics:

Katharine Hobbes' views are somewhat complicated. While not adopting a political label per se, she has described her views as "new right". Hobbes on numerous occasions voiced her support for same-sex marriage claiming that "it doesn't harm anyone". At the same time Hobbes made it clear that she is a strong opponent of government subsidized abortion. She supports a free market economy, opposing government provided healthcare and a higher minimum wage.

In this RP:

2016 was a big year for Katharine having interview a couple of important figures, most notably the then Vice-Presidential Candidate Buck Havich of Connecticut and then-Senate Majority Leader Ryan Carter of Ohio. The latter one proved to be a massive disaster for the interviewee who's poorly worded comments drew criticism and riddicule from all sides of the political spectrum, notably from the Republican Senator María Antonieta Arroyo Villanueva de Peña of New Mexico, the same Senator who heavily criticised Hobbes for her joke about dead african children made during a twitter fight with Representative Nicole Smith of Illinois a couple of months later. The same comment attracted the attention of media mogul and owner of the right-wing ANN network Don Hookstraten. The two met and spoke about a potential employment offer for Hobbes, but the potential employer didn't deliver.

Biography: Growing up poor and sometimes homeless in New York City, young Oliver had to fight for what he wanted and was a trouble maker. He did poorly in school due to both the death of his parents and his financial situation. He dropped out. At 18 he changed. He suddenly became someone to get things done. He got his GED and enrolled at the city college of New York, were he rose to the top, determined to change his life. He became a cold person and found himself entering politics in 1974, becoming a state representative for New York, before entering the US House of Representatives in 1980. He served in the house for 12 years, often voting for many Republican bills, despite being a Democrat. He switched parties in 1992 and lost his election in New York. He moved out of New York and into Virginia, where he became mayor of Richmond. In 2001, he was appointed United States Ambassador to Mexico. His demeanor was strong and he became known as someone who could anything from anyone else (despite this not being exactly true). In 2005, he was reappointed to United States Ambassador to Venezuela. Then in 2008, just before Winston was elected, he was again reappointed. This time as United States Ambassador to the Russian Federation. Winston kept him after he was elected.

He is also considered by some as too young and inexperienced for his job. He and his wife, who is also a corporate lawyer he met at Coca-Cola, have worked on cases for the company that dealt with racial discrimination and misleading consumers, which would hurt him with black and working class workers, a group Elijah relied on the win the primaries.
Biography: Elijah was born in Atlanta, Georgia to his dad, a pastor who owned a local church, and his mom, a stay-at-home parent. As an adolescent, Elijah was very involved in his community, which mostly consisted of African-Americans, through his work at his father’s church. He got good enough grades in college to be accepted into a state college, but decided instead to enlist in the Marines at the age of 17. Just five years later, 9/11 and the War on Terror occurred. Elijah did two tours in Afghanistan, earning a Silver Star, and one tour in Iraq, earning a Purple Heart after his leg was blown off and he had an above the knee amputation.

After being honorably discharged from the military, went to college at Columbia in 2004 with the help of financial aid and the GI-Bill. He graduated in 2008 and immediately went to law school at Columbia before passing the Georgia Bar in 2012. Elijah then went on to become a corporate lawyer for Coca-Cola for a short time, but he spent much of his free-time doing pro-bono legal work for veterans. In the same year, 2012, Elijah ran for election for Georgia’s 13th congressional district as a republican. As a democratic stronghold, it was not surprising that Elijah lost, but he did much better than anyone thought he would, getting over 40% of the vote: the best any republican candidate had done against the incumbent since 2002. Elijah decided not to run in 2014, and continue focusing on his work at Coca-Cola. However, with a democrat winning the US Senate seat in 2014 for Georgia, this spurred Elijah to get back into politics and run for Georgia's open US Senate seat in 2016.

Elijah considers himself a fiscal conservative. He has pledged to advocate for a balanced budget and to help black Americans who have been duped by the welfare state currently in place. He is a strong advocate for less regulation and free-trade to help bring jobs to urban areas. In terms of healthcare, he is formally against the Affordable Care Act, but thinks that Georgia should expand Medicaid. For social issues, he is a bit more progressive than the average Republican. He has a strong connection to the Baptist church due to his father being a pastor, but he believes in the separation of church state. He is “pro-all-life” which leads him to oppose abortions, except in cases of rape or incest, euthanasia, and the death-penalty. He is also a supporter of decriminalizing marijuana at the federal level, putting low-level criminal offenders in alternative rehabilitation programs, and treating drug addiction as a disease instead of crime. His biggest are of focus, however, is the military and veteran affairs. He supports defunding pork-barrel military spending and focusing on spending money to help America face 21st-century threats. As a sufferer of PTSD himself, he is very outspoken on helping veterans with mental disorders caused by war.

Biography: Frederick Douglas Heedrisburg was born January 5, 1974 in Austin, TX to Bill Williams and Marie Williams. Living in an apartment with substantial living space he always had a nice view of the state capital building. After graduating high school 2nd in his class he decided to take business classes at the University of Texas. He graduated with his bachelors degree and moved to Dallas with his friend to start a new company, UniTech. They would manufacture and test new weapons, mostly handguns.

He and his friend, Buddy Jole, took out a loan and bought a complex facility on the outskirts of Dallas. It was in fairly good condition and they started manufacturing weapons. They amassed a yearly net profit of $12million dollars which is growing 3% each year. He hasn't endorsed a single politician yet, but will soon.
