Cora is not currently DOS, though that may be considered. His nations have been puppetswept, and the forumban remains in place until the 2 weeks are up.

Thanks for the clarification, Sedge. I've posted a correction to the article.

If Cora remains committed to being declared DoS, it's hard to see how this could end any differently, but hopefully he will reconsider.

I know Cora is a good person. But honestly, if he is so committed to being deleted, then it should happen.

The Fix Is In? Delegate of The East Pacific Remains Under Indictment

Despite evidence demonstrating Aelitia's innocence, Viziers and forum administrators will continue to pursue charges unless he agrees to a plea deal that will see him removed as Delegate and banned from public office for one year.

By Cormac Skollvaldr

1 INFINITE LOOP - Two weeks after Delegate Aelitia of The East Pacific was accused by Viziers and forum administrators of maintaining multiple citizenship accounts on the regional forum of The East Pacific, trial proceedings against the embattled Delegate remain in the pre-trial phase with prosecutor East Malaysia indicating that the charges will be pursued. This news comes despite the prosecution's acknowledgment that new evidence has emerged demonstrating that Aelitia and Lavince are not the same individual, the initial accusation which resulted in Viziers temporarily removing Aelitia from the regional Delegacy and led to charges before the Conclave. The prosecution contends that impropriety has still occurred because Aelitia and Lavince have colluded in regard to the casting of electoral votes and votes in the Magisterium, though only the thinnest of circumstantial evidence to this effect has thus far been presented.

"I have proven I am able to disprove these allegations, and I have proven there is no clear or present danger from my existence in The East Pacific. I have never acted to destroy the Concordat, and I believe I have made that abundantly clear," Aelitia said in remarks asking Viziers to withdraw the complaint against him. Aelitia contends that the complaint filed by Viziers had not yet progressed to formal criminal charges, that Viziers maintain the power to withdraw the complaint in the pre-trial phase, and that the validity of East Malaysia serving as prosecutor is at best legally questionable. East Malaysia has argued otherwise, and Viceroy Bachtendekuppen has ruled in favor of the prosecution that the charges may move forward.

Despite assurances made by Vizier Todd McCloud and other Viziers and forum administrators that Aelitia would be reinstated to the regional Delegacy if proven not to be guilty of maintaining multiple citizenship accounts, Todd McCloud remains acting Delegate and Aelitia remains masked as "Conclave Restricted" on the regional forum as charges move forward at a snail's pace. The Conclave is scheduled to rule on the merit of a trial on Monday. Meanwhile, the prosecution has offered Aelitia a plea deal that would see the Delegate removed from office and banned from holding public office for a period of one year. Lavince would also be stripped of citizenship and would be ineligible to hold citizenship in the future, though permitted to retain membership and participate on the regional forum. Aelitia has not yet commented on the plea bargain offered by the prosecution.

One citizen of The East Pacific who spoke to the Miniluv Messenger on the condition of anonymity expressed concern about recent happenings, contending that pursuit of these charges may be a politically motivated attempt to end Aelitia's Delegacy and neutralize him as a future political force. "There are so many conflicts of interest and hidden motives it's hard to know who to trust," the citizen said. "The fix is in. There's nothing anyone can do about it." The citizen further pointed out that Viceroy Bachtendekuppen, who is presiding over the trial against Aelitia, is also a Vizier and has a clear conflict of interest that should require his recusal from the case.

It would be easier just to incorporate a "Grief Region" button, so you wouldn't even need to make the effort to do the actual raiding. Players could just bounce from region to region and destroy everyone else's efforts at will, without even bothering about WA status. Wouldn't that be nice. -Frisbeeteria

This is actually surprisingly accurate! :P I didn't think it was appropriate to maintain a newspaper that can often be controversial while serving as Pharaoh of Osiris.

If I'm not mistaken, the last Miniluv article before now was four months before your third and last stint as Pharoah. The dry spell between May and now is understandable, but why was there silence then?

I find it difficult to write about things in which I'm heavily involved, which was the case with things that were newsworthy in the period preceding my term as Pharaoh of Osiris. I was also very busy during that time period. If you look back at the dates of previous articles, it isn't uncommon to see a two or three month -- or sometimes longer -- publication gap.

Interesting take on TEP trying to run through a legal process. That being said, this past six months, between the sudden, personal change in delegacy in August and these recent allegations of late, are probably my last in gameplay. I'm tired of following protocol and trying to do what I believe is the best thing and despite all of that having chatter like this appear out of the blue. It's tough. It's not fun. This on top of trying to work on the World Fair, which is moving on at a steady pace. Now this. I just don't have it in me. I'm exhausted. I need a rest.

I have no drive anymore. No drive to make a Free Press News Service article to attempt to bring humor to these allegations. No feeling with respect to the Security Council. No general want to run a delegacy anymore. Heck, I still feel the same way I felt a few weeks ago. I'll be honest, I'm pretty depressed and have been for a while now. While I love this game and I enjoy many of the people in it, I don't think I can do this anymore. Only thing I want is to see TEP succeed - I love that region and its citizens, those standing trial or not. I like to roleplay, and I like NS Sports. I don't think I like gameplay anymore.

I'll do what I can with respect to the World Fair. If it gets done in time, it gets done in time due to the help of everyone in the committee including myself. If it doesn't, then let me be the first to say I'm sorry in advance when an article from this paper comes out on that. Heck, have fun with it. The point of this game is having fun. And if it's no fun, it's time to move on.

Anyway, if people want to view what's happening with respect to the trial, check it out here. It's public, and both prosecution and defense have posted their statements. This whole business has really knocked the wind out of my sails, and if anyone believes I've somehow benefited from this, or that the region has benefited from this, look me up. I'll help to set the record straight.

I'm going to roleplay now. Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays, from the resident fox-guy thing.

Which part specifically are you denying, that you've acknowledged the evidence indicating Aelitia and Lavince are not the same person, that you're pressing ahead with the charges anyway, or that you've offered Aelitia a plea deal that would remove him from the Delegacy and bar him from public office for a year? Because you have done all of that.
