A beginner's guide...

Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest, based on the Eurovision Song Contest, aiming to provide and unite nations from different parts of the World through music. The WorldVision Song contest is an outlet to showcase the popular or native music of your nation. As with every contest, there are a few simple rules and regulations that you'll need to follow.

 1. To start, you must sign-up for the contest. Do so by using the form below and posting that you sign up in this thread. Make sure you sign up before the cutoff date. You will not be penalised if you sign up and don’t post a song. These songs will be submitted in the IC thread after a host vote.
 2. At the end of the host bidding period, all nations which have signed up at that point may vote for the nation that will host the contest. Instructions will be posted by this account, and all host votes should be telegrammed to this account as well. The winning bidding nation will then create the IC thread.
 3. The contest is based upon the Eurovision Song Contest: nations will "perform" their song. No real-life song can be entered into the WorldVision Song Contest; of course, the melody can be used (usually linked via YouTube). At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations are not allowed. Nations are free to choose to host a national final or internally select their representative. English is not compulsory.
 4. Once the IC thread has been posted whenever the winning bidding nation chooses, nations will submit songs before the deadline. After the deadline nations may not edit or alter their song in any way, unless otherwise instructed by the committee. Also, after the deadline and any interval act if appropriate (wait for the signal from the host nation), nations vote, ranking their top ten songs in the following format: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 in the IC thread. Nations may not vote for themselves. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote.

If you don't know how to sign up, use this form below; this should help. Not all of these fields have to be filled in, but it certainly helps.

Code: Select all
Nation Name: Your nation's name goes here.
Official Broadcaster: Your official broadcaster for WV goes here.
Song Title: The IC Song title goes here.
Artist(s) Name(s): The name of your act goes here.

Tune: The real life tune you're basing your song on goes here.

 1. A debutante nation cannot bid to host the WorldVision Song Contest. A nation must have entered and completed one Contest in order to qualify to host a Song Contest. Furthermore, a nation that has put a host bid CANNOT vote for their own bid. This ensures a democratic, and fair result.
 2. At least 80% of the song’s lyrics must be original, and translations of real life songs will result in disqualification. If you suspect another entry to be either wholly or mostly plagiarised, please telegram the WorldVision Committee with your concerns. The committee will then review the entry before making a judgement. If your entry is disqualified for whatever reason, you will not be reinstated even if you edit your entry.
 3. All nations that post a song in the IC thread must vote. Failure to do so will result in a one-contest ban.
 4. Each nation may enter ONE puppet nation (that is another nation controlled by the same player); the master nation must confirm their puppet on the thread. Should a nation is found to be in breach of the one-puppet nation rule, sanctions and a disqualification will be put in place.
 5. If a nation enters a puppet nation, the maximum amount of points that can be awarded to each nation is up to five points thus ensuring a fair and more equal chance for all nations to succeed within the Contest. If a nation is found to have awarded a higher amount of points, the committee will first allow said nation to alter their votes. If said nation fails to adhere to Committee reminders, the votes will be rendered void and will result in disqualification. A user controlling a master and puppet nation together can only award a third nation a total of 18 points.
 6. Under no circumstances will bullying, offensive and/or intimidating language or provocations of any form be accepted within the Contest, within both IC and OOC threads. WorldVision promotes peaceful and friendly environment. Failure to comply will result in disqualification. If at any point, you feel you are a victim, or feel someone has been victimised by another nation, contact the Committee, or a member of the Committee immediately. The Committee will ensure anonymity/confidentiality at all times.
 7. Only the current host of a Contest or the WorldVision Committee can reveal results during the voting process. Conspiring with fellow users to rig any of the votes is illegal and will result in sanctions.
 8. Users may "reserve" slots in the running order of the contest, but if one's entry is not completed having made a reservation by the deadline, the perpetrator will receive a one-contest ban. An entry is accepted if it has a complete set of lyrics, regardless of whether stage directions have been finalised or not.
 9. Users may not edit their entries or votes after the deadlines for any reason, including spelling or grammatical errors, unless otherwise instructed to by the Committee.

So basically, be original, try to be fair, don't be a jerk, and have fun. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to TG the Committee- it helps if you add the Committee's individual member names (Electrum, Ethane, Mercedini, Mister X, and Normandy and Picardy) in the "To:" box along with "WorldVision Committee" for a faster response.

Even if you've missed the deadline or aren't participating, feel free to discuss the contest in this thread or post commentary in the IC. You'll find that people greatly appreciate some good commentary.

With all that said, welcome to WorldVision!

Cameron Poloz to Represent the Allied States of Polkopia in WV53!

Image

Cameron Poloz has been internally selected by the PNB to represent the nation of Polkopia in the upcoming Worldvision Song Contest, with the song, Stešti. Cameron Poloz has been involved in the music industry for 32 years, writing his own music which featured in many popular Polkopian films.

Poloz had also attempted to win the Landa vy Polkopiya to represent Polkopia in the 51st* Worldvision Song Contest, with the song "Remember." Although he finished 1st in the televote, he placed third out of the contestants. His song, Remember, was altered later by the PNB, translated into Polkopian, and then re-released as the Polkopian entry for the 53rd Worldvision Song Contest.

From the moment the song was released, multiple journalists already started asking about the staging for the contest. Although nothing specific has been announced, Cameron was quoted, saying that the performance would "Be very emotional. [The song] has a very strong message, and we want to convey that message for everybody, whether they speak the language or not."

The WorldVision landscape was shifting before TÖBUK's collective eyes. The recent flop in WV52 spurred the broadcaster into action, and so it brought together a fourth full Sinun Valintasi national final to decide its entry for WV53. The search for something fresh ironically brought them back to the retro band VYY, which performed in WV34, thus the band's two entries in this edition's Sinun Valintasi. The rest of the entries reflect TÖBUK's desire for a new style to represent Tödlichebujoku in WV53.

Send your top five choices to Sinun Valintasi (the nation linked)! Make sure you note which one is your top pick and list them in order. Thanks!

The deadline is December 30.

"Welcome to Izmepisma. 9 songs have been chosen out of a field of hundreds waiting for their shot at Izmedu's WorldVision baton, but only one song can remain standing."

Izmepisma has successfully passed its second test with another stunning top 5 finish off the back of Karin Volaric's "Redemption" in the Mercedinian stage in Langtree. A jubilant RTI has thus signed a two-edition renewal for Izmepisma after garnering record ratings pre-WorldVision and continuing a top 5 streak that has persisted since WorldVision 48. Slowly, but surely, it is becoming a phenomenon that's beginning to take WV fans by storm. More and more higher-profile artists are beginning to express an interest in performing for the national final.

Similarly to last edition, over 1000 songs have been sent to RTI in a bid to represent Izmedu in WorldVision 53. This time around, bigger names began to take a larger proportion of the songs in submission, but there was a healthy amount representing artists from the independent and unsigned scenes. After a few months of poring over every individual entry, RTI has narrowed it down to a final 9 that stand before you, the international juries and the Izmeduan public vote. Now, RTI asks for your votes on these songs, which are as follows.

THE OFFICIAL PLAYLIST FOR IZMEPISMA

Song #1
Zucirjak ft. Jagoda - Isolation
Tune: The Chainsmokers ft. Daya - Don't Let Me Down

Song #2
Marina Antolic - Torn Apart
Tune: Sia - Big Girls Cry

Song #3
Anthony Bernardini-Vukovic - Ja sam denj
Tune: Sergej Cetkovic - Ne zivim ja

Song #4
TK Prod ft Vigora Marasovic - Freedom
Tune: Sigma ft Birdy - Find Me

Song #5
Benjamin Stimac - One of Those Nights
Tune: Kendji Girac - Elle m'a aimé

Song #6
Samir Galovic - Absence
Tune: KEDZO - Ronim na dah

Song #7
Eulaila Bukovac - Bajka
Tune: Oonagh - Niënna

Song #8
Sineva Vujevic - Celebrate
Tune: Starley - Call on Me

Song #9
Oberon - Innocence
Tune: The Weeknd - False Alarm

International juries will vote by ranking their top 7 songs in the following format. 12 points to their favorite, 10 to their 2nd, 8 to their 3rd, then 6, 4, 2, and 1 points for 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th respectively. Your least favorite 2 songs will not receive any votes. To vote, simply send a TG to Izmedu with the format (and if you have a national final, let me know and I will vote for yours in return).

The final result of Izmepisma will be determined through a 50/50 split of the international jury and public vote. The amount of points that the public will give out will be determined by how many international juries vote for the national final.

DEADLINE FOR VOTES: Saturday, December 31, 9:00 PST

Qui Chantera Pour Normandie? - Who Will Sing For Normandy?
Welcome to 'Qui Chantera Pour Normandie?'! This year, NNN has put on its biggest show yet, with eight acts vying for your votes as the international juries to compete for Normandy and Picardy. Yes, they may have been trying for two editions now to get an NF off the ground, but now they really will do it! Believe us! Anyway, NNN has brought back the NF after the dissapointing result last contest, being the nation's lowest in many editions, especially having won WV51, and so have decided to bring back the NF to see whether the people and the international community can help. How can you (ie. the international juries) vote? Well, listen to all of the songs below, and send a telegram to Normandy and Picardy by December 30th. Give 12pts to your favourite, 10 for your second, and from 8-3 pts for the rest down to your least favourite.

1. Susanne Marena - Wild Horses
Tune: Guðrið Hansdóttir - Stjørnur

2. Joanne - The Call
Tune: Emma - Circle Of Light

3. Siddran - Mon Coeur est Écrasé (My Heart Is Broken)
Tune: CHVRCHES - Empty Threat

4. Natalie de Venne - Feelings
Tune: Jain - Makeba

5. Loma- Another One
Tune: YELLE - Jeune Fille Garnement

6. Dista - La Voix (The Voice)
Tune: BYRTA - Eydnan

7. Les Coeurs des Lions - Lay On Me
Tune: White Lies - Don't Want To Feel It All

8. Pierre Pierre-Louis - Abracadabrant (Bizarre)
Tune: meisterjaan - Parmupillihullus
Northern French Names but with a general Western Med vibe, welcome to N&P

This is mostly only used for joke RP with"of the best English that is of perfect". If I accidentally use this instead of my main, then blame Canada.

The Adab Times

MUSIC | WORLDVISION SONG CONTEST

WorldVision National Selection Ends as al-Salaman's Opponent Goes Mad; al-Salaman Confirmed as Adab's WorldVision Representative

BAGHDAD — In an act which has left much of the nation amazed, concerned, and befuddled at the same time, the first-ever national selection of songs for Adab's entry to the 53rd WorldVision Song Contest was suddenly brought to a close Monday night and Kinan al-Salaman confirmed - once again - as the country's torchbearer on the WorldVision stage by default after his only opponent - and the reason this selection was held in the first place - descended into madness and paranoia onstage, raising questions regarding his health, potential lawsuits, and the quality of water supply at the venue.

Uday Hussein, Governor of the Prefecture of Iraq, hastily climbed to the stage at the Ahmed Hassan al-Bakr Memorial Convention Center at 9:14 p.m. local time and took over the microphone - and control of the event - from the hosts to declare the Adab WorldVision Song Challenge closed and Mr. al-Salaman the country's representative to WorldVision after Enlil Haider launched into a lengthy diatribe which, by all accounts, shocked and amazed the packed hall with its dramatic boasts and death threats and has been described by one critic as "an unprecedented moment in the history of Adabian television."

In an unprecedented occurrence, Mr. Haider, a rising hip-hop artist whose single "High Hopes in Lowly Ghettos" is currently no. 1 on the Official Singles Chart, issued an open challenge to Mr. al-Salaman for Adab's WorldVision baton six weeks ago, declaring in a written statement that "young Adabian artists are tired of al-Salaman refusing to offer others the chance at competing on WorldVision" and that "al-Salaman seems determined to make it seem to the whole world that he is the only Adabian artist worthy of international fame and recognition." (In his more reserved reply accepting the challenge two days later, Mr. al-Salaman denied all charges and accused Mr. Haider of "exaggeration without any proof whatsoever," but otherwise wished Mr. Haider the best for him and his family "with all my heart.")

He Boasted of Military Prowess and Spewed Out Death Threats

Sadly, Mr. Haider will now have to temporarily stay out of the spotlight - and the WorldVision stage - for the sake of his health, his chance to prove his worthiness to represent Adab having ended in shambles as he found himself undone by his unraveling mental condition in front of the very audience that he sought to win over.

Mr. Haider took the stage at 9:05 p.m., ostensibly to perform between two and three of his songs and convince the audience that he was the right man for the job; Mr. al-Salaman had been expected to have his turn immediately after Mr. Haider's and perform his own set of new songs.

Instead of being treated to Mr. Haider's hits, as had been widely expected, the audience found themselves witnessing a sudden outburst, the likes of which are rarely seen in a public event of this magnitude.

"What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch?" he shouted at no one in particular to begin his tirade, much to the shock and confusion of the attendees. Mr. Haider then proceeded to walk and run in circles around the stage, spewing out profanities and declarations of greatness and conspiracy in rapid succession with a somewhat yellowed face and eyes wide open.

As silvery bubbles emerged from his nose, Mr. Haider boasted of being an Adabian soldier and graduating top of his class in the Adab Navy. Pointing at random members of the audience, he hoarsely declared, while wildly banging his chest with one hand, that he had been trained in "gorilla warfare" and survived numerous secret raids on Al-Qaeda and other Islamist insurgent groups across the Middle East, notching a total of three hundred kills in the process. As the bizarre tirade continued, a confused Mr. Hussein hastily ordered the television crew to cut off the feed as a result of "extraordinary circumstances."

Reports emerging from the hall say that Mr. Haider then took off his shirt, ran to the wall, and started smashing his chest against it. Returning to the center of the stage after a while, eyewitnesses state that Mr. Haider pointed at a 15-year-old teenager on the front row, frantically shouting, much to the horror of the audience, "I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words." Mr. Haider proceeded to declare that he knew of no less than seven hundred ways to "decimate" the teenager either with his bare hands or using the "entire arsenal" of the Adab Marine Corps, after which the teenager's father jumped onstage and apparently tried to strangle Mr. Haider, only to be pushed off the stage by the younger and stronger Mr. Haider.

"That is not a man, that is a demon," the father, Adam al-Tikriti, stated afterwards. Despite pleas from friends and fellow attendees to forgive Mr. Haider due to his potential insanity, Mr. al-Tikriti said that he would file a lawsuit against Mr. Haider for physical assault in the coming days.

"That man hurt me and my boy, terrified my boy," he continued in an incendiary tone. "That cannot be forgiven."

Continuing after the assault as if nothing had happened, a teary-eyed Mr. Haider seemingly regained his senses - if only for a while - and begged the attendees to believe him, after which he stated that the Adabian government had been spying on them, citing "a secret network of spies" across Adab and proclaiming that "our IPs are being traced right now." Mr. Haider was then seen falling to his knees and banging his arms against the stage floor, at which point Mr. Hussein, along with security guards and some other attendees, rushed onstage and seized Mr. Haider. Mr. Haider was then taken away from sight, flailing his arms at the general direction of the audience and proclaiming repeatedly, "You're dead, kiddo," as Mr. Hussein called a halt to the proceedings and declared Mr. al-Salaman the winner of the contest.

Investigation Disproved Mr. Haider's Claims and Pointed at Bad Water

An investigation was quickly held under the direction of Mr. Hussein, which soon disproved virtually all of the claims that Mr. Haider made during his tirade. The investigators, having contacted the Adab Armed Forces, were quick to announce that Mr. Haider had never been a member of the military at all.

"We can confirm that there is not an ounce of truth to his sayings," Mr. Hussein stated in a telephone call with The Adab Times. "Those were merely the rants of an ill, mentally unstable man."

The potential cause of Mr. Haider's apparent mental instability was quickly revealed, thanks to a testimony from Mr. al-Salaman himself. Mr. al-Salaman stated that before the contest he and Mr. Haider were about to share a drink in the name of "fair competition". Mr. Haider apparently was the one who urged him to do so.

"I raised this glass of water and noticed that it seemed a bit silvery, rather not transparent, and it had a strange smell," Mr. al-Salaman said. "I was a bit scared, to be honest, and I told Haider not to drink it. Yet he drank it anyway, despite my pleas, and then my worst fears came true. It could have been me, indeed."

"Always be careful and say a prayer to God before you drink," Mr. al-Salaman continued. He called for an investigation into the water supply at the venue, deeming it potentially "dangerous and polluted."

The venue has not yet released a statement on whether they will cooperate on any investigation into the water supply or start one themselves.

Al-Salaman Energetic in Press Conference

In a press conference held an hour after the event, Mr. al-Salaman called for calm and asked all Adabians to join him in praying for the health and well-being of Mr. Haider, a "good and fierce competitor." Following a minute of silence and prayer, Mr. al-Salaman tried to strike up a heroic pose, declaring that he would perform to the best of his capabilities on his next WorldVision appearance and do the country proud.

"I am Kinan al-Salaman of Jabal al-Druze, and there's a million things I haven't done, just you wait. I will cross the sea on my plane and restore the pride of Adab on the WorldVision stage," Mr. al-Salaman declared spiritedly to the joyful shouts and cheers of everyone present.

"See the light as it shines on the stage? It calls me. Every turn I take, every trail I track, every path I make, every road leads back to the WorldVision stage," Mr. al-Salaman continued in excitement, energizing attendees of the press conference with pledges of loyalty to the country and the art of music.

"Who am I, you might ask? I am a man who loves my country, I am the man who loves the music, for it calls me. So I assure you, by God, I am not throwing away my shot at the WorldVision crown," al-Salaman finished, raising his fist in a show of power and leaving the press conference to the journalists' feverish chants of I am not throwing away my shot.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

This whole fiasco in Adab sounds very meme-worthy... it almost sounds like one. God knows micro.blog's mods don't tolerate flaming #worldvision #adab #wedonthaveahashtagforthisyet #adabgate?

Estogium intends to participate in WorldVision 53

Estogium sent the biggest artist in the Britynukosphere, and though hoping for a top 3 placing, it was up against very stiff competition. In all, Estogium finished with 71 points which gave him 6th place - a good score for Estogium. While Israael Kashtkar says that he intends to come back to WorldVision in the future, we can announce the Liam Andréasson will be representing Estogium. It is not yet confirmed what song he will sing, but some fans suggest it will be his song; "Jump The Gun" which he is performing in the 29th World Hit in Izmedu.

RVC, Rwhitten Vefecosoin Cairkovoin, has released a statement; "We cannot yet confirm what song Liam will be singing, and we are working closely with him to get a suitable song in place for the audience of the 53rd WorldVision Song Contest."

The 53rd WorldVision Song Contest marks 20 editions since Estogium debuted, under the name North Britonisea. Once joining, North Britonisea was known for sending horrid entries - which were so disappointing, they were not even considered joke entries. When Estogium was formed, the nation placed 12th - WorldVision 39 - which was a massive improvement since WorldVision 33.
