The Skyrim/Elder Scrolls thread

Postby The Wolven League » Sat Dec 10, 2016 5:28 am

Welcome! This thread will be a place to discuss all of the Elder Scrolls games, their expansions, mods, and spin-offs. However, because of the popularity of Skyrim in particular, it'll probably end up being the overall most-discussed game, especially with the recent release of Special Edition. I also expect a bit of talk about Elder Scrolls Online, if that's even still a thing. New polls will be up every once and a while.

Also a place to ponder the location of Elder Scrolls 6 ;)

I liked Skyrim the most out of the four Elder Scrolls games ive played, which are Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim and Online.

Online i played the beta for it, thought it was alright, i generally dont play MMO's that much anyway, so never went back to it. Morrowind i just could not get into, tried several times when i was younger and could just not get into it. Oblivion and Skyrim i played the hell out of and loved both of them, but i preferred skyrim, and still go back every few months or so to play it again now that i have it on the PC as i dont have my 360 any more and dont feel the need to buy the new version of it.

Skyrim is a good game, but a shitty RPG, much like Fallout 4. They dumbed down basically everything from Oblivion, which had already been dumbed down from Morrowind.

Eh, somewhat have to agree with you, but I would say that Skyrim's role playing was... average, at best, and not necessarily bad.

I liked more than one game from series. Actually Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Never played Arena, and tried Daggerfall for a bit.

Redguard.

But seriously I'm just making fun of a common sentiment among Elder Scrolls fans. It can apply to most of the games.

I hope Elder Scrolls VI takes place in the Summerset Isles. It would be a refreshing change from Oblivion and Skyrim with new architecture, culture, and a different political climate.

I do think it's cool that Redguard is set around Tiber Septim's rule. They should make a game set then that expands upon his rise to power.

Maybe they could do branching endings and have non-canon player determined endings where the player can help different factions rise to power instead. I think it could be a great opportunity.

Nah fam, Elsweyr would be the best.

I mean, TES in a half-jungle, half-desert world? Sign me up!

I want it to be in either Elsweyr or Black Marsh. Either one would be pretty dang cool.

But please, Bethesda, give us a bit more freedom when it comes to decisions during quests.

Black Marsh would be interesting, but they would have to twist the lore a bit to make the inner swamps playable, because IIRC, the inner swamps are basically just complete hellholes that only Argonians can survive in.

I'd imagine it to be similar to things we've already seen in term of environment. Elsweyr is a radically unique province.

Oh, and is Special Edition any good? Probably getting it soon for my PS4 (very excited! I absolutely love the Hearthfire expansion, but never got to play the other two when I played Skyrim on PC years ago). Heard some mixed things about it, though.

I'm half-peasant, so that's good news.

Think I'll do Stormcloak this time. Used to always go Imperial, but I find myself becoming more and more sympathetic to the Stormcloak cause.

Also, since I built my house in Morthal when I last played the game years ago, I think I'll build mine in either Dawnstar or Falkreath. Anyone have any opinions about those build sites?

Oh, and are Dawnguard and Dragonborn good? Never got them on PC.

I like Falkreath the most. It's very green and has a nice view made better with a few mods.

Haven't played much of DG or DB, though.
