Is there compulsory military service (hereinafter known as National Service) in YN? Yes; muster and service in the Militia exists.
Do both men and women have to do National Service? No. Only men may muster and serve. Women may voluntarily join the women's services.
When are people draughted in for National Service? Men from the age of seventeen are randomly draughted to muster and serve in the Militia. Muster may be deferred until the man's twenty-fifth birthday.
Do all people have to do National Service? No. The following people are exempted from muster :
- Clergymen and clerks of the Church of Nortend.
Those with vision or dental problems or physical illnesses.
Heirs to a title.
Doctors, surgeons and teachers.
University students.
Convicted felons.
Holders of Crown offices.
The blind, deaf, mute or dumb.
Those with mental diseases.
Those unable by operation of law to take oaths.
Any person who has applied for and received special exemption such as sole bread-winner.
Can those conscripted become officers? Yes. People who received a General Examination result of no grade less than E and at least one O may be apply to serve as a muster officer.

- 1st of April, 2003: He receives a call-up letter informing him that he has been draughted for national service.
1st of October, 2003: Muster, registration and medical check-up
3rd of October, 2003: Beginning of initial training
3rd of January, 2004: Completion of initial training and beginning of active service.
1st of September, 2004: Completion of active service and beginning of militia service.
1st of September, 2010: Compulsory militia service concludes.
