Hitler or Stalin or Mao?

In your opinion who was worse? They were all psycho killers, but who was worse for the world?

Give reasons at who was worse.

I'm no expert on either man, but at a guess based on what I do know, I'd say that Hitler had worse motives, but by actual body count Stalin was probably the worst.

Both were horrible, but I voted Stalin, he was in power longer, and had more time to systematically kill people and oppress his people.

To elaborate on what I just posted, I think that both men were mentally disturbed to some extent, and that both had some pretty sick motives, but I get the impression the Stalin was slightly less motivated by irrational bigotry and slightly more by the interests of his nation. I don't think there is actually a way to definitively and objectively analyse who was the most sick or evil man, or who had the worse motives, but if I had to make a guess, I'd say Hitler.

However, from the point of view of who did the most direct damage to the world, probably Stalin. Then again, Hitler might have if Stalin hadn't beaten him. And the level indirect damage that has occured through both men's actions is impossible to calculate.

Both were maniacs. Hiltler was evil. Stalin was evil and apparently had bad breath too (according to his daughter)

I'd save an American citizen over a Canadian citizen any day. Although if it was two Canadian citizens vs. one American I'd have to think twice...
Luckily I've never been presented with a scenario where I'd have to choose...

The label "worse" is very loaded; worse in what sense exactly? I know what the OP is getting at of course, but said word "worse" has so many shades, so many degrees and levels...they're both evil bastards and I'm sure both are toasting in Hades very nicely.

Anyway! Hard to choose one over the other really when you get to their horrendous level.

Stalin, cause he was by far more attractive than Hitler and generally the more attractive people are the more evil if I base my presumption on the evil characters in Alfred Hitchcock's movies.

Hitler, Stalin, and Mao were all terrible people who caused massive casualties where no needed be. To classify one as worse than the other is like trying to say what is a better way to die; being shot in the brain or the heart. They all were terrible people who had horrific actions set into motion by their (likely) disturbed motives.

Hitler was the worst. He was a Racist, who spread hate and fear through an entire country, and killed his victims without mercy or conscience. Stalin was insane, sure, but one can survive in a Gulag. Not comfortably, but usually not outright executed, and better than their ancestors a hundred years before. And the Holodomor, while a tragedy, wasn't Stalin's fault for just pure evil. It was bad timing, and bad policies, ones that were meant to help. If he had just waited a few years, or chose to give them a choice while the famine was occurring... So many lives would have been saved.

Not to say Stalin didn't execute thousands, but he wasn't AS BAD as Hitler. Doesn't mean he wasn't a monster.

crap. now I have to change my vote because you added Mao. As an historian, I think Mao ranks on the bottom tier of the lowest of the low because of his misguided "cultural revolution" where he tried to get "The Party" to literally wipe away thousands of years of Chinese history and art all because he wanted Chinese history to "start" with the long march and the 1949 revolution. That was a tragedy of epic scale.

I never could understand this kind of debate. All three of them were mass-murderers. debating who was worse is like talking about which is worse, diphtheria, typhoid or the plague.
