Furthermore, I am of the opinion[IC, Invite Only]

Postby Cardulan » Sun Nov 13, 2016 8:52 am

  1. This is a closed – invite only - RP. To avoid confusion this is strictly MT. If you want to use advanced technology you might keep the look but scale it down to existing tech.
  2. Tekeristan and Cardulan are OP for this.
  3. Longer, fewer and more developed posts are preferred over lists of troop numbers or one-sentence replies.
  4. Humans only.
  5. Work things out in OOC if there’s an issue, no TGs to the OPs unless it is absolutely necessary.
  6. No OOC discussion in the IC. Failing to observe this rule will lead to dead soldiers on your side.
  7. No teleporting of ground and naval troops please. Time and travel are relevant. Keep in mind that when the enemy is in range – so are you.
  8. Once you're in, you're in. Retconning will be allowed only in the most extraordinary of circumstances - and only for the last post made. Breaking this rule will result in darkly hilarious consequences for your nation.
  9. The use of WMDs - including but not limited to nuclear arms – is allowed. Please keep in mind that rule 8 still applies if you nuke a nation and they nuke you back. Think before you act - actions can not be undone in this RP. If you are not sure - don't do it.
  10. No godmodding ever. Accidentally going too far and posting enemy causalities is fine as long as you change the post once you are informed. Repeatedly doing so will lead to the destruction of large parts of your nation.
  11. Combat is supposed to take place on the division scale. No need to break your ORBATs down to platoon level.
  12. Inform other players of prolonged absence in advance. Do not deliberately stall the RP by not posting.

Link to OOC.

" War does not determine who is right — only who is left. "

War was coming, there were no doubts about it. The Administration nor the Tekeri people were blind to this fact. The differences were simply too much: the clash between the free world and radical Imperialism : Battlefield Tekeristan. But this was no mere conflict zone, this was home. There was no where to run to from here.

The Oehiton conflict had served as an example. The tactics of Cardulan were analyzed: over-reliance on air power, use of starvation, and potentially supporting terrorism. The same mistakes could not and would not be repeated, for there was no room for cowardly half-actions. Nor was negotiation possible, for the Cardulan regime never negotiated, and the '500' - still locked away on some cold, distant isle decades after war - was more than enough proof.

Over the course of the approaching months and weeks, Tekeristan has been making preparations for the upcoming conflict. A series of bunkers and other fortifications had been dug into the Earth, particularly along the coastal region: ready to defend the nation. A conscription clause had been prepared for both persons and materials, and a large sum of arms and munitions were being actively acquired and stockpiled from a variety of sources.

But arms weren’t the only things being stockpiled. Spare generators, power cables, railway nails and tents, everything for the rapid repair of infrastructure. Vast stores of grain, fresh from the previous harvests, were and are being stored and distributed in both urban centers and rural communities. Under the cover of darkness, redundant power and data cables were secured, and rail-way bypasses planned.

Over the length of time, the military had time to fully mobilize, deploy, and prepare. City streets were carefully guarded by fully uniformed soldiers, occasionally behind check points, bearing both their arms and the heads of flowers gifted upon them by their fellow citizens. They were the nation’s brave soldiers, after all. Smaller villages along the coast, however, were evacuated to new homes further inland - supplied war bonds in compensation for certain items.

The Cardulan spies and infiltrators, cut off and exposed, were quickly being rounded up and arrested. Their faces were known, many carrying beacons, others carefully trailed for weeks. A search warrant, carried forth by a group of T.I.S.A agents alongside police, arrived at the Caracasusian investigation bureau to readily confiscate any data pertaining to Cardulan agents and to eagerly trace them through their Caracasusian partners. Checkpoints were manned, raids were being carried out, and posters of the 'wanted' soon adorned every public board.
To those arrested, whether a captured pilot or agent, no cruel fate awaited them. They were quietly transported to prisons deep within Tekeristan - separate from the populace. No torture awaited them, instead private rooms with warm meals and friendly, unarmed guards.

Surface to Air missiles were being delivered openly across the coast, carried on the beds of trucks and trains - many to prepared positions. Camouflage netting quickly covered them. Stretches of trench were being dug - reinforced with plentiful logs and netting. The air bases, close to the front, had their runways prepared with idle craft, quietly exchanging missiles and fuels. Military trucks constantly traced the roads, carrying equipment, in the vain attempt to overwhelm hostile intelligence with shear volume.

War was coming, that much was for certain.

Flori Amanar

What did it mean to fly?
Was it to soar high above the clouds, to reach out for the glowing sun and to soar higher than the birds?
To float hazily over the trees and admire the Sunday’s rivers flow?
Or was it to speed towards distant horizons, faster and faster, until the whole world seemed to blur away?

It was a question still left open to debate.

To Flori, it was heritage. The father’s set of expectations put onto an only child.

Her Great Grandfather had served in the Soviet Air force during World War 2, conscripted to the front - where he had proven himself in flaming skies. Her father, who served in the Soviet paratroopers up until his immigration to Tekeristan, had battled in Afghanistan before falling from the sky as a wounded angel, and despite protests was sent back to the homeland on account of He never wore that medal.

Since a young age she had been raised with the sky in her sight, told to watch the freedom of the flying birds and dancing butterflies, which froliced above the land. But her eyes remained closed, her ears open, and her hands grasped the smooth neck of a violin. For it was not the freedom of the birds that caught her attention, but their song.

When Flora left for a small musical college in the outskirts of Constanta, she did not get to speak much to her father. She was excelling in her practices, her plays, but the letters always failed to get sent. At least, that was until a letter came to her, bearing her father's name : heart attack.

Her father had always wanted her to be a pilot, an angel, falcon, wisp, every since the day she had been born. Yet after countless long nights, trying the same note a thousand times, the weight of a thousand tons suddenly descended upon her. Where had she been for him all this time?
The recruiting pamphlet, sent years ago to her by her father, sat heavy in the same place it always did on her desk.

Emergency Notice: Travel to Tekeristan

Public.

Following warnings from the Tekeristani government and the Cardulan armed forces, all Caracasusian citizens are warned that Tekeristan has been declared highly unsafe for travel. With the risk of serious injury and death posed by an invading armed force, the Tekeristani authorities are no longer in a position to guarantee the safety and security of foreign visitors.

It is expected that the nations of Tekeristan and Cardulan will soon issue a formal declaration of war. All Caracasusian peacekeeping units have been withdrawn from Tekeristan, and all Caracasusian students, tourists and visitors are strongly encouraged to leave the country immediately.

Should any Caracasusian require assistance, the Caracasusian embassy at Ferrum will be able to arrange your evacuation. Those with dual nationality status are welcome within Caracasus, and are advised to contact the Caracasusian embassy.

It is hoped that this matter will resolve itself peacefully, however it is advised that Caracasusian citizens do not visit Tekeristan during this time.

Caracasusian embassy - Ferrum

Snow drifted lightly in the street below as the T.I.S.A security staff arrived with a warrant to search the offices of the Caracasusian investigation team. The Caracasusian security team on high alert following assaults on Caracasusian citizens and those of Caracasusian descent by some Tekeristani citizens. Graffiti was washed off the walls on a daily basis, they gleamed until nightfall, when the graffiti would arrive once more.

The agent brushed the light dusting of snow from the papers he held. The ambassador to Tekeristan had been called down himself to answer the man's queries and questions. Rather unusually, the ambassador had chosen to meet the TISA agents at the gate to the embassy, not inviting them in. As he rushed to dress, he called up a request on his staff.

"This order seems redundant Captain." He spoke to the Tekeristani officer. "You already have any information we have on the Cardulan agents via the information sharing directive. I would be happy to send you these files once more if..."

"That is quite okay." the Tekeristani officer replied. "This order gives us warrant to search these premises for the files. If you do not mind..."

The ambassador sighed. "I am very sorry Captain but I cannot let you do that. I am afraid that under international law, this embassy is technically Caracasusian soil. You have no jurisdiction here at present. Now, if you would care to apply for an information request, we will be able to release any non-sensitive material to you. Unless your government wishes to theoretically invade Caracasusian soil, I am afraid you have had a wasted journey Captain."

There was a thaw between Tekeristan and Cardulan. For a long time the government in Ferrum had done nothing to deal with the war crimes and other heinous acts committed by Tekeristan during the conflict in Oehiton. After much diplomatic work from Caracasus they finally agreed to take a step towards civilisation. In the beginning Cardulan and Tekeristan worked together in the uncovering of the crimes but Tekeristan was never committed to bring justice to their own doorstep. Soon extremist elements within the government began to undermine the peace process. An illegal referendum was called for to end the war crimes investigations. A referendum that would put more pressure on the already weak government. Cardulan moved swiftly to prevent this but the extremists came up with other – more bloody acts of terror to kill the peace process forever. To deescalate the situation and to bring boost trust between both sides Cardulan had agreed to tracking bracelets for all their investigators. Even though they legally had the right to enter every government building – a group of investigators was attacked and murdered. While Cardulan did instantly deport all Tekerist who were involved in the shooting to Cardulan it turned out that murderers claimed that they did not know who was arriving at the building. An outright lie, considering that the investigators had not taken off their bracelets. While Cardulan acted with restrain and diplomacy Tekeristan had elections and voted the extremists into power. Caracasus tried for the last time to reason with them but they were no longer able to respond to reason. Driven only by hate and the wish for destruction the new rulers ordered their hired thugs to kill some Cardulanian pilots in their reconnaissance planes above Tekeristan. Knowing what their crimes would cause these pilots acted as ruthless and degenerated as their leaders. They followed the criminal orders:

The air strip's lights glowed dimly in contrast with the clear night sky above - dotted with a gleaming million eyes. The aircraft shuddered as its engines roared with kerosene, rapidly slinging "The Blossom" Rafale Fighter down the run way. To the left, another followed.

The twin fighters quickly soared above the landscape below, smitten by snow and tired sprawling forests. Further on, the northern mountains slowly approached. The pilot felt the belts of the chair press against the chest as the pair slowed behind their target. It didn't deviate from course, it wasn't the first patrol. Minutes passed, The pilot's eyes fell upon the clock. The message came, they were not responding to radio. The pilot tipped the nose of the fighter downwards. The darkness and deafness were shattered in an instant, a great shower of sizzling red thunderbolts striking across the wing and hull of the trespassing Cardulan recognisance plane below. Great streaks of fire ignited across the bow as the aircraft quickly was slapped towards the earth - its wing mangled and twisted - quickly plummeting towards the forested mountain slopes below.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENT

Citizens of Terekristan,

your criminal government has once again committed crimes against humanity - crimes against peace. The brutal murder of the peacekeepers who were working to improve your lives and secure the future of your children had been committed with only one intention in mind. Your government seeks to provoke Cardulan into exercising revenge against the murderers. In times of peace and despite the contract of mutual understanding the bloodthirsty mad men have stabbed civilisation in the back. Tekeristan has not declared war before they murdered the brave peacekeepers. Criminals taking up arms for this criminal government are not protected by international law. Every combatant fighting for murderers and terrorists should consider the fact that Cardulan is very likely to treat them as illegal combatants. Oure Peacekeepers are now on the move towards the embassies of Caracasus and Watersville under the order to remove every obstacle in their way through the use of lethal force.

The insane, degenerated war mongers seek to have as many of you killed. They want you dead to beg for the sympathy of Watersville and Caracasus. In their bloodthirstiness they seek your death for their profit.

Rest assured that the Kingdom of Cardulan will response to the crimes against humanity in a reasonable and appropriate way. The Kingdom seeks to spare as many civilian lives as possible. You will have to cooperate to help us archive this goal.

We ask all citizens who serve in the armed forces to stay at home and avoid going to any place that is linked to the military in any way. We ask all those who work in the arms industry to stay at home and don't go near any military related factory or plant. The safest place for all other citizens during the next few months will be at home or in the basements of their housings. Stay away from government installations or from any other buildings linked to the terrorist regime in any way. Surgical air strikes against selected military targets might occur in the near future. If you want to be absolutely safe the Ministry of Information urges you to relocate to Constanta as this will be declared a save zone for refugees. The area around Constanta will neither be engaged by air nor by ground troops. Make sure that all vehicles in your convoys are clearly marked with white flags and make sure that your convoys stay as far away as possible of regime military.

If you work for the government or the military report sick and relocate to Constanta. Stockpile food and water for 30 days - don't forget to stockpile raw water! Make sure that you and your family have all medication they need for the next 30 days. Be aware that your government seeks to put the civilian causalities as high as possible. Don't think that you will be treated in the hospitals in the next few days – those will be exclusively accessible to the military and high ranking members of the regime. Remember that your criminal government started this war knowing exactly what would be the result.

Stay at home – report sick!

Stockpile supplies!

Move to Constanta if you want to get out of harm's way!

Stay away from military installations and soldiers!

Public Statement

REPUBLIC OF BOHEMORAVIA

It has come to our attention that Tekeristan is once again threatening the world peace. We condemn the unprovoked and unjustified murder of peace keepers for no reasons other than to inflict pain and grief on their families. The Republic of Bohemoravia intents to stay neutral in this conflict. Tekeristan has a long and gory reputation of backstabbing their allies and abandoning their own soldiers. Parliament has decided that we will send enough ships to the conflict zone that are capable of enforcing peace if that would become necessary.

We will closely watch the events in and around Tekeristan and we reserve ourselves the right to intervene on either side. We ask all those involved in this conflict to inform us about their intentions and manoeuvres to avoid getting in the way of our own fleets in the area. We will use all means at our disposal to gather information on troop movements near our fleets. This will include orbital observation as well as electronic and signal intelligence.

The blame for this conflict and for potential coming bloodshed lies exclusively with the criminal government in Tekeristan. While we are neutral and intend to remain so there is no use denying that the crimes these people committed had been carried out with the intention to trigger retaliations. The unprovoked attack on the peace keepers can be classified as an act of war under international law. We strongly advice Cardulan to react with restrain. It obviously is Tekeristan's intention to trigger a military reaction and make their own citizens suffer.

We hope that our friends and partners Caracasus and Watersville will remain neutral and exercise their influence on Cardulan to convince the Queen to keep the reaction to the absolute minimum.

Military Official Housing, Victory city, 0548hrs, Republic of Vectors
Dark. Fire. Fog. Lost. Explosion. Skeleton. Smoke. Admiral Stuggard shuddered awake from his most recent nightmare, and took in the stillness of night around him. Many moons ago Charles Stuggard fought in the Oehiton war, on the ground as a special forces operative in the Republic of Vectors military. Now, he commanded the people he use to be. Now, that battleground was scarred in his mind. Admiral Stuggard stretched his arms, closed his tired eyes and sank back into the warm blankets and pillows surrounding him. 'PING!' He had barely closed his eyes when his mobile device on his bedside pieced the silence with its notification tone. Stuggard glanced at the clock, it was nearing 0600 hours. He picked up the cell phone and opened the notification, it read "expect a secure call." To the Admiral, this was not a rare occurrence, unusual yes but not rare. He hefted himself grudgingly from the bed and donned his fluffy white robe while walking to a closet further in the room. He opened the dark wooden closet door and pulled out the foot by foot steel cube from a shelf. He placed it on the bed, and it began creating a tremendous racket of sirens and rattles that resounded through the house as the box demanded attention for the important call it was receiving. Stuggard stammered with the biometric palm print pad then the box opened and a phone receiver lay there blinking, the Admiral picked up the phone and said 'Charles Stuggard, Five-Nine-ORANGE-One-Zulu." He listened to the message, and left the room with haste to pass it on its contents.

Conference Room, Mount Vectors, 0800hrs, Republic of Vectors.
President Justus stood behind an intricately designed wooden podium speaking to the small crowd of reporters in front of him. He was flanked by double rows of government officials and military commanders as he gave his speech. This hastily gathered broadcast was done right at 0800, and broadcasted to the world. With tireless emotion and commitment, President Justus spoke of how during the Oehiton war his father was murdered. He spoke of all the promises broke and the evil that had been pushed back. And now he was calling upon a nation to do it again.
"And in defence of our beloved Ally and sovereign friend, in revenge for all the Vectorians lost, in retaliatiom for thoughtless acts of war crimes, we have had ENOUGH! We on this day declare WAR Upon the nation of Tekeristan and all of its assets! We ask for your surrender before this turns into another Tekeristan loss of face and life."

Office of the Admiral, Bikima Military Complex, 0810hrs, Republic of Vectors.
Admiral Stuggard was not at the Presidential speech, he had been tasked with 24 hours to prepare Armedeggon on the Tekeristan nation. He watched the broadcast through the televisiok mounted on the wall across the room from his desk in the Bijima Military Complex several kilometres from Victory (City). Yes there were plans for things like this, but those plans took time to action, and his time was ticking.

Funen, Republic of Nangajala

Eric was deeply concerned about the events that were to unfold so far away from his homeland.

"What will happen if the tensions escalate?" He thought "What will happen when Cardulan retaliates? Vectors had already declared war. Officially! This was going to be bloody."

He had an expression of sadness on his face as he thought about the death and the tragedy that had been triggered by Tekeristan. He remembered how the government of Tekeristan abandoned their own soldiers and left them to die in horrible conditions. They did nothing to free them. If it had not been for Nangajala they would have all died in the camps.

"I must do whatever I can to minimize the suffering of the civilians in Tekeristan." He thought. The best way to save the civilians was to help Cardulan and her allies to make their air strikes as precise as possible. It was also very helpful to have the government in Tarbad owe you a small favor. Eric picked up the phone and made a few calls; some domestic and others international.

The satellite data provided Cardulan and her allies with up to the second information about the happenings on the ground in Tekeristan. Even though the allied nations had their own systems, redundancy was never something to be neglected. It was time to send the navy to the new hotspot. Eric gave the order to move close to the spot where the action was going to happen. He personally made sure that the ships had enough supplies to provide Tekeristan with humanitarian help if the crises would escalate.

Darkhollme

Faith.
It gives people strength to keep going, through hardship and tragedy.
It can also drive men to commit acts of greatness, good or evil.
In times of crisis, it is natural for people to seek out hope. Some find this in friends or family, others look up to the skies and pray to the gods.

The Legions are a nation built on faith, and it is faith that holds it together. And now, with trying times ahead, its leader turns to his deity..

It was a calm evening, the streets of Darkhollme were nearly devoid of commotion and activity, most people were in their homes, spending time with their families and friends. Only the steady marching of an occasional patrol or the calm purring of a tank could be heard now, as the Legionnaires kept their vigilance. These were unusual times for them, for the first time in recorded history, the Legions were at full peace. It was unheard of in their society, the only thing to keep the nation's vast military busy were the pirates that plagued the seas, but those had become a rare sight.
However winds of change were blowing, decisions would be made this night that would cause the deaths of many.

The Aspect of Doom, eternal leader of all Legions and divine champion of their deity, Doom itself, was walking down the quiet streets. Clad in fine robes of black and crimson, with a hood that covered his head and obscured his face. No guards were accompanying him, it was not often he left his palacefortress alone, but these were not usual times.
His footsteps softly echoed through the quiet as he approached his destination: the Grand Temple of Darkhollme. One of the largest structures in the city, even though most of it was built underground. Great banners waved softly in the wind and mighty braziers illuminated the dark, obsidian walls. Armed guards, wearing ceremonial armour stood guard at the entrance. When they recognized who it was that approached them, they quickly saluted and stepped aside.

The temple was quiet at this hour, a few acolytes and priests were still around, as were more guards, lined against the obsidian walls holding vigil. The Aspect moved past them, those that recognized him bowed respectfully. He descended down deeper into the temple, finally arriving at the Grand Altar. The chamber was faintly illuminated by a few braziers, but was still mostly dark, at the end of the room stood a massive altar and he knelt before it. Much had happened in recent times and he had much to think about, so he came here, the place closest to his deity, so he could meditate.

Several hours passed until someone interrupted him, a Legionnaire approached him. First Legion, he noted by the markings on his uniform. "Please forgive my interruption." said the Legionnaire. "But the Counsil has requested your presence."

The Aspect stood up. "So the time has finally come.." He murmured more to himself than to the Legionnaire, who looked confused. "Tell them I will be with them shortly, dismissed."
The Legionnaire nodded, saluted and departed. The Aspect walked up to the altar, a massive statue towered over him shaped like the icon of Doom. He stroked his hand over the decorated black marble block placed in front of it, countless lives were ended on it in tribute to their deity, human and animal alike. Killed in the name of Doom. He suspected that soon many more would find their end in its name. And with that thought he departed.

About half an hour later, he arrived at the meeting that was gathered in the city's primary fortress, the council of High Doomlords was already gathered there, and they all saluted the Aspect as he entered.
"At ease, brothers. What is the news?" He asked.
"Our preparations are nearing completion, my Lord, and our allies have begun making their moves." Said Tyranathan, High Doomlord of the Second Legion. "We only need your seal of approval and our Legions will move out to support our allies against the heathenous Tekeris."
Planning for this campaign had been begun a long time ago, right after the first communication was recieved. The Legions were not only allies of Cardulan, but owed them greatly, it was a debt that could only truly be repaid in blood and now an opportunity would arise to pay that debt.
The Aspect thought for a moment, once he signed this declaration of war, there would be no going back. "How many souls will I consign to oblivion with this?" He thought. But he held true to his faith and beliefs. If his Legionnaires would die in this war, they would die gloriously in battle and ascend to true greatness. Any enemies they'd slay would be less heretics in the world. A win-win situation.
With a nod, the Aspect signed the paper. The Legions were going to war, with faith in their hearts and minds.

Official Declaration of War
In support to our allies and in response to the disgraceful and dishonourable acts of the Republic of Tekeristan, we, the Legions of Doom, chosen warriors of the Great Powers, issue this declaration of war against the state of Tekeristan.

We aim to preserve international order and preserve the citizens of Tekeristan from their unfit governance. The acts committed by the government of Tekeristan are unforgivable and as such deserve retribution. We stand by our ally, the Kingdom of Cardulan and will support them with active military operations in these trying times. Any and all opposition will be met with deadly force if not disbanded.
Though it is regrettable that it must come to this, we of the Legions will not back down in the face of the heretical acts committed by the government of Tekeristan and look forward to facing their manipulated soldiers on the battlefield.

Signed, the Aspect of Doom
Eternal leader of the Legions of Doom

Operation Outis: Blinding the Monster

"Cyclops, you asked my noble name, and I will tell it; but do you give the stranger's gift, just as you promised.
My name is Outis. Outis I am called by mother, father, and by all my comrades."

To slay the beast, the man-eating monster, the deranged abnormity straight from Hades it had to be blinded. Blinding the beast would not be too difficult. The operation had been prepared for some time in advance. When Then Republic of Vectors declared war and issued their final ultimatum there was no hope that the insane dictator and his gang would come to their senses. They wanted their people dead and in misery. They would get what they wanted but not now. It was not the time to slay the beast it was the time to blind it.

Localizing the monster's satellites was easy. Most were known anyway and some more had been uncovered during Cardulan's war crimes investigations. The monster had been watched closely considering its track record. Not it was time to act, fast and ruthless as usual. The satellites were attacked through various means in one coordinated attack. Hackers moved to brake their ways into the enemy satellites, hijack them and steer them out of their orbit to make them burn to ashes upon entry into the atmosphere. Various directed-energy weapons from places all over the planet were used with the intention of frying the satellites or making them unusable by other means. And than there were the kinetic weapons. Designed in a way that upon impact they would not blow the construction to pieces but rather punch it right off its orbit and back down to earth.

Ballistic experts took great care that the debris that eventually had survived re-entry would come down over the oceans. No nation and no group claimed responsibility for the attacks. It was indeed Nobody who blinded the beast.

The orders were clear and the law was on their side. When the investigators left their barracks they were well prepared to encounter opposition on their way to safety. Jews and Muslims who had worked with the investigators in the past were offered to join the convoys - they knew what fate awaited them in the Greater Tekeristan. The internationally agreed immunity of the investigators made this an easy job for them. The drove their vehicles towards the Embassies of friendly nations knowing that any attempt to violently stop them would be illegal under the terms of the agreement.

They were under strict orders to quickly dispatch each and every terrorist deranged enough to stop them on their way to the embassies. The recent murder had shown to everyone that torture and death would await all those who became hostages of the terrorists. That knowledge and the clear orders made any hesitation impossible. In case of an engagement they would use every weapon at their disposal to break through the terrorist lines to reach their goals. Including automatic grenade launchers and light anti-tank weapons. Only those investigators that were separated from their units, worked as liaisons or were sick at the time of the Great Treason were an easy prey for the terrorists – and still, many of those defended their lives to the last breath - taking as many terrorists with them as possible.

Caracasusian embassy

Members of the embassy dragged the circular disks that housed complex gel substrates and organic memory storage into the courtyard. Inserted keys and flipped lids. Even the weak winter sun of Ferrum was enough to destroy the organo-mechanical storage devices, wiping trillions of bytes in a single sunbeam. The few purely mechanical storage devices left belonging to International Observations or their pet sociopaths, Unusual Circumstances were subject to magnetism and fire. Paper records shredded and pulped with bleach.

The orders coincided with the submission of many applications for assylum. No doubt the Cardulan inspectors had completed them on the move. All that really differed were names. All that remained was for the investigators to reach the embassy.

The guards on the gates no longer carried NIC. They had switched less lethal ofr lethal with Glassgun and Flechette rifle. Blocky gray plastic weapons nicknamed 'sewing machines' for their sound and their needles.

'They're here!' Called a guard. Not that it needed saying over the sound of engines. The gates were opened.

THE REPUBLIC OF NANGAJALA

TO:Public FROM:President Eric Vestergaard

Tekeristan's treatment of investigators and diplomats invited into the nation to help deal with the domestic problems is unacceptable to the international community. Tekeristan stands accused of attempted hostage taking of foreign citizens who came to the nation as aid workers and on an official invitation.

This practice must end at once. All hostages have to be released and transferred to the Nagajalan fleet in the Black Sea. We have enough helicopters to ferry the hostages to our ships and turn them over to their nations of origin.

Tekeristan needs to stop all assaults on foreign embassies without further delay.

Drill. Patrolling. Routine. That is how everyday life had looked for the opplandian sailors manning the ships of the Naval Group that secured the waters off the coast of Cardulan and Oehiton after their joint operation. After the fall of Kongshammer the situation didnt cool down but became even more chaotic; with several new factions appearing, claiming power and disappearing again for the whole cycle to start anew. Even though they werent facing any great threats back in the time as the mass of the Oehitonian soldiers were either killed or surrendered to return home, the Opplandian´s were busy people back then. They were searching ships that approached the battered harbours of Oehiton, they cleared the waters of mines and debris and every so often they chased-down a boat full of insurgents. Noone would care much about the passing of time, as all of them were concentrating on fulfilling their duties.

After long months then things had changed for all involved. Finally the political leaders of the countries which took part in the campaign managed to reach a major agreement that should let the citizens of Oehiton return to a normal live; the northernmost part of Oehiton, at that time known as 'South Cardulan', would become an independent nation. The process was long and arduous for the people but nevertheless very promising, as it promised stability and normality. Soon enough the insurgents at sea would become less and less, until some day there werent any left. After the formal declaration about the foundation of the Republic of South Cardulan things got quiet for the sailors aboard the opplandian ships. Day after day, week after week passed in silent monotony of drill-routine and patrols.

Though, not anymore. The ships had been pulled into the harbours along the coasts of Cardulan and South Cardulan to get supplied for a new Mission. A combat Mission. This time they would leave behind the cardulanian hospitality to set out towards a new destination, a new opponent, a new fight. Tekeristan, an old adversary, reared it´s head like an agitated snake and this time they would chop it off. The decks and corridors of the ships were bustling with commotion as both sailors and civillians worked hard to get everything stowed as quick and as save as possible; the deadline was approaching and lateness unforgiveable.
One after the other the opplandian warships pulled away from the jetties and gathered out on the roadsteads to wait until finally, after almost two days worth of work, all vessels had joined up and set-out southward where they met with the group coming from South Cardulan to form a veritable warfleet, big enough to count as a whole navy for some nations. The monotony of patrolling had been replaced with the routined business leading up combat activity, the people once again going over their tasks as in the ship bellies the great engines thrummed sonorously, propelling the fleet ever onwards with unstoppable determination.

Ferrum, Tekeristan

The Embassy had been overflowing with requests for asylum. Heather had gone through them all and had to make a decision as to what she was going to do. For the most part, she felt that she needed to accept most of the applications. In general, she had learned, a nation that felt threatened would do whatever it took to get back on top, even if that meant taking out it's own civilians. She continually looked out the window to ensure that the gates were opened to let those that wanted to apply in. She quickly looked down at her phone and noticed that it was ringing. She quickly put the phone up to her ear and listened to the person on the other end of the phone. "Yes, your family can come down and we will grant you asylum." As she hung the phone up was when things became interesting. She first noticed that the Gates to the Caracasusian Embassy were beginning to open. The next was the 4 large trucks that raced down the street and turned into the Watersvillian embassy. They had now arrived, Heather ran down the stairs and opened the front door and allowed the Asylum seekers to enter the building. The last ones through were several of the Cardulan Investigators. The leader of the Cardulan Group came up to Heather and began to talk. "I just wanted to thank you for helping us." Heather smiled, "It really is not a problem. I have three rooms upstairs available for you guys. Unfortunately, there are several other families that have already arrived and I have talked to about 4 more just in the last hour, all afraid of what is yet to come. I will be releasing a statement shortly and then we will hope for the best."

Waters City, Watersville

Liam Mathews and his wife Jennifer Mathews were packing their things, but for very different reasons. Corporal Liam Mathews had been called to rejoin his brothers and sisters in the Cardulan Volunteer Brigade. He had accepted without question. Meanwhile his wife, Dr. Jennifer Mathews, was packing for her journey to Tekeristan to volunteer at the Aid Camp that was already being planned and talked about. Corporal Mathews was nervous to say the least to allow his wife to put herself into such a dangerous situtation, but there was no stopping her as there was no stopping himself. He took her hand as he prepared to leave. "Just be sure to stay safe, ok." She smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "And you make sure that you don't accidentally attack my camp." They both laughed before the silence returned. They kissed again and then Corporal Mathews left to catch his flight for Cardulan.

The Royal Palace, Waters City, Watersville

The plans were being set in motion all across the globe. They could see the requests for asylum in Ferrum from the embassy. They could also see the way that others reacted to each new news story that came out across the globe. Watersville was now ready to set out their plans, however predictable. The plan was to create two camps for aid, one close to Ferrum and another close to Saint Trevik. The issue for Joseph, however was another well known fact. There were several Watersvillian citizens that were traveling to Cardulan to be members of the Volunteer Brigades. Watersville had watched these people when they joined the Volunteer Brigade, and they were all deemed mentally capable of being able to do what they were doing now. They would also be watched after returning to ensure that they were not changed by the war. It was now that Joseph recieved the message that he was dreading.

THE WATERSVILLIAN EMBASSY - FERRUM
Over the past several days and weeks, we have seen an increase in the number of applications for asylum within our walls. At the moment, we have approximately 56 people sheltered with another 23 asking for asylum. We are beginning to fill up and because of this, we are going on yellow level alert. This means that the gates to the embassy will be closed to all types of transportation excluding walking. On top of this, we will have security personnel on site 24/7 until further notice. What we need is a way of evacuating those who have asked for asylum. I await a response from any nation abroad. Thank you,

Watersvillian Ambassador Heather Fink

Joseph read the message and began to contemplate his choices. He turned to his aide and began to speak. "Please contact the Tekeristani's and ask for permission for Watersvillian helicopters to land and to pick up asylum seekers. Also make sure we have permission for the camps." With that the aide began to call the Tekeristani government.

Ravingard, Valkalan, 1526Z

Maj Meijer made his way through the labyrinthine halls of 1228 Vauxal Street. The monolithic structure, known as the Prysm to the press, had a sinister reputation on account of it being the headquarters of STRIJA. Meijer wore an old trenchcoat and a fedora. His rugged appearance contrasted with the elegant suits and clean shaven faces he passed in the halls. He at last came upon room 718C, scanned his badge and entered his five digit PIN upon the a keypad adjacent to the doorknob. There was a click, and the door unlocked. "Good afternoon, Major." said the man seated at the head of the table within. It was Egon Klüge, the Director of STRIJA. "Afternoon" replied Meijer dryly as he placed his fedora and trenchcoat upon the rack in the corner of the room.

"The situation in Tekeristan is grim, and our contacts in the government of Cardulan have called upon us for assistance. The allies have managed to disable much of Tekeristan's satellite network. Yet the situation remains precarious, and..." "And that's where I come into the picture." said Meijer. "Indeed. Your experience on the Malabar Front is why I have called you here, Meijer. We're going to take advantage of the chaos caused by the loss of Tekeristan's satellites to drop you and our men behind enemy lines to clear a path through their air defenses. Cardulan has personnel stranded in Tekeristan, and creating a gap through their air defense should allow Cardulan to airlift their men out of that blasted nation." "Sounds interesting." replied Meijer. "When do we deploy?" "This very evening, Major. You have three hours to ready your men, suit up, and be in the air."

THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF BALAGAN

TO: Public
FROM:President Haydar Koç

Hostages and Terrorism

The Islamic Republic of Balagan voices the official concern about the treatment of peace keepers, diplomats and investigators protected by international contracts. The heinous attempts to take Cardulanian investigators hostage who had been granted immunity must be aborted at once. All hostages must be returned to their homeland or a friendly nation within the next 8 hours. All those who had managed to escape to embassies of civilized nations must be allowed to leave to a destination of their choosing. This does not only include the investigators but all Muslims, Jews and all other refugees from Tekeristan who tried to escape persecution by entering the embassies. Balagan will supervise this evacuation. We will not allow the Ferrom Pogrom to be repeated by Tekeristan. The hostages can be handed over to Nangajala and Watersville as long as it is within the 8 hour time frame.

We ask Tekeristan to stop all hostilities and extradite those responsible for the recent acts of terrorism. We urge the criminal political class to rethink their terrorist way of acting and resign from office to make room for a civilized and mentally stable government.

We protest against the false-flag operation that the terrorist regime committed against the global economy. Several satellites went off-line recently. Commercial satellites, operated and owned by corporations from Balagan or used by those entities. We have strong evidence that this was another move by the criminal regime to try and portrait itself as a victim. They soon will release a statement that the Muslims or the Jews were behind this, the same forces that made it necessary to murder the investigators. These allegations are completely baseless and are the sick conspiracy theories of a twisted mind. The sabotage was undertaken in a Reichstag Fire like operation to give Tekeristan free hand to move against ethnic minorities and the political opposition.

The commercial satellites will be soon be replaced by Balagan. All cooperations which had previously been working with them are invited to apply for the new services. We are going to close this gap faster than Tekeristan has torn it.

Bridges, and Power Plants, and Roadways, Oh My!

From the Vectorian homeland and her colonies, long and intermediate range bomber aircraft took to the skies. Around each bombing wave as they grouped up in the skies was a significant protection of Vectorian VVISTA F-18 aircraft that were tasked with keeping enemy planes away and missile sites suppressed: There were 36 bombers and sixty fighters in wave one, and 40 bombers and 40 fighters in wave two. The waves were separated approximately a half hour apart, leaving enough time for an effective strike before the next wave took over the job. Supporting the armed aircraft was over a dozen assisting aircraft, several EW, an Aerial Tanker, an AWACS and several Vectorian created Missile Defence aircraft (MDACS) to supplement the bombing force.

Hundreds of kilometres off the right flank twenty stealthy air superiority aircraft with fuel drop tanks were flying parallel to the main force as a backup team in case of overwhelming aerial assault.

They would be near Tekeristan airspace in approximately ten hours.

EMPIRE OF KJALARA

Image

(Encryption: None)

To: -PUBLIC-
From: Queen Tove

It has come to my attention that The Republic of Tekeristan is threatened by the islamic army of Balagan. Kjalara has been at the frontline in the fight against the proliferation of islam for centuries. This message is an official warning to the government of Balagan to remain neutral and peaceful. I am afraid that Balagan might wish to use this crisis to increase the influence of islam in the region. To prevent the muslims from spreading over the southern flank of Europe Klalara will station a strong peace-keeping force in Tekeristan. I have sent two air assault divisions to Tekeristan that will help to defend the airspace and the coast line. With this letter I inform the public that the planes are on their way and that they are not to be attacked. Don't test your luck. If the transport planes are attacked the Empire of Kjalara will retaliate with full force against those who dare to challenge us!

May you all keep your nerves and peace prevail.

Airspace above Tekeristan, 1941Z

Maj Meijer and his team of six sat quietly on the sides of the Sz-5. The aircraft flew low, barely above the trees, to avoid detection by enemy radar. Upon reaching a clearing, the Sz-5 came to halt, and the men rappelled out. They were armed with VM4 carbines, Valkalan's versions of the American M4. The forces of Tekeristan were known to use 5.56 NATO rounds, and the use of the VM4s allowed the men to make use of any ammunition that they captured. The men were dropped within five kilometers of the target. As the Sz-5 lifted out of sight, the men began swiftly moving towards their target.

The Federation would like to express its reserves about entering the current conflict in tekeristan. However we greatly condem their acts the Federation is not prepared for conflict. However, despite this we will grant asylum to any who are affected by the growing conflict. Lastly we would like to inform the rebels in tekeristan that any act against the Federation, its interests or its people abroad will lead to the mobilization of troops.

Statement from the Secretary of State of DP Country-
The nation of DP Country does not condone the actions of Tekeristan. The country is at high alert. The President the rest of our leaders and I do suggest that Tekeristan cease and desist any and all hostile activity towards people of other countries. They are guests to your nation. Entering embassies by force and while inside using hostile and dangerous weapons will not be tolerated by DP Country as we have a embassy there but it was not targeted. Once again, return the hostages to their homeland before midnight or Terkeristan and Cardulan can expect a declaration of war from the legislator of DP Country. Good day.
Sincerely,
Secretary Allan Stinds.

In order to protect the interests of the Federation the government has voted to withdraw all personnel residing in the embassies located in Tekeristan. Although they have not been targeted several others have been and it is in the best interest of the Federation to protect her citizens residing in foreign countries.

International Observations

"What we are seeing here is a catastrophe. An ending event"

The gathered faces watched as one of the leading historians of Caracasus switched to a new image. This one showed stylized drawings of Anzique monuments and warriors. Another showed boatloads of soldiers carrying muskets and pike.

"Consider our ancestors, the Anzique civilizations. A millennia without contact from the outside world. They grew from hunter gatherer tribes scattered across what we now call Northern Caracasus to settled peoples. They built vast cities, complex systems of irrigation, judicial systems, astronomical devices to measure the stars and of course a complex society encompassing various social, economic and religious beliefs unique to themselves. Within a century of the Parphanosian Empire arriving on the Iberis Peninsula, the Anzique civilizations effectively ceased to exist."

"The end of Tekeristan then?"

The historian shook his head. "No. The end of humanity. This war, this conflict is just one of thousands of things that will trigger it. We have the capacity as a species to destroy the planet we live on a thousand times over should we use it, and there has been no cessation to war and conflict. We are thinking, as the Anzique did, within completely the wrong frame of reference and it will destroy us."

"So how do we stop this event?"

The historian shook his head. "We cannot. The apocalypse has already begun. It started when scientists discovered that by explosively smashing lumps of fissile material together, they could level entire cities. Every day since that event has been like turning over playing cards in an infinitely large deck. It isn't a matter of if, but when someone draws a Joker. Our only hope lies in the grand plan."

"Mars."

"And further. At present, we are looking at at least another half century before the establishment of a large enough colony on Mars that would even stand a chance of maintaining anything like the technological pinnacle we are currently at. A half century after that before the colony is self-sufficient enough to survive if the world is crippled by an apocalyptic war. A century after that before the planet can sustain a large enough group of humans to continue... all of these predictions depend on the world remaining relatively intact for nearly two hundred years. If something were to break that chain...."

Early yesterday morning at the Federation Headquarters: PM Niccolo Pepe to Supreme Judiciary Councilor Hermione Janeway "The laws pertaining to an act such as this are sketchy, and I have called you here today to ask your opinion pertaining to the legality of this Ministry Order". SJC:" the laws defining this are not concrete and are certainly not reliable. I recommend the use of subsection Dfg175 of the Federation Guidebook" PM:" Refresh my memory isn't that the order pertaining to threats against national security." SJC:" yes the order allows you to become the temporary dictator of the Federation and control all its military might...."

*Five hours later after a long process of deliberation the judiciary council approves the PM for dictatorship of the Federation

PM: The first act is to deliver a crushing blow to tekeristan after declaring war.
Sec.MIL: No! We must strike first and let our actions speak for us, who cares about international law!
PM: Although I am hesitant to break the laws that support the foundation for peace and cooperation I. Believe that you are correct, if we inform them of our hostilities then they will be prepared...."

Later that night the stealth fighter Belleno Two takes off from Mil Command in the capital of Carusco. The pilot, Willie Gibbons, begins the 2 hour journey to the northern border of Tekeristan. After passing the mountain range of Asuka and the river of Fortuna Majores Gibbons finally reaches the northern border. His target just in the other side suspected nothing and the truth was neither did willie. He had done this a hundred times, he was the most experienced pilot in the Federation. But just as he was approaching his target his stomach tightened...the town he was sent to bomb hadn't been evacuated of civilians. For a moment willie almost turned back, but after speaking to General Camoda who told him it was irrelevant...he fired.
