Biography:
The city of Omashu is a fable of the world: Home to the Green Priests, capital of the World Forest, While the ancient stone quarter of the city sprawled out on the forest floor – the head Temple of the Green Priest Order lying at its heart – her home was in the sprawling treetops. The mighty Taldani, their gargantuan trunks and branches dominating the World Forest, formed the foundation of the city, offering safety and shelter to its inhabitants within their wizened embrace. What results is a city of diversity and coexistence: civilization and nature, human and non-human, all being accepted under a single canopy.

Born into a family of nobility, Osira’s parents raised her to the standards that were expected of one of her status. Quickly, however, it became clear that she was having none of it. Developing a rebellious streak that defied the best efforts of her parents, Osira snuck out to explore the forest around her rather than remain cooped up with her tutors. It was inevitable that such a curious spirit would draw the interest of the Order, who were only too happy to encourage her adventurous personality. She would race across the branches to meet with Priests returning from their travels across the lands, eager to pick apart their minds for hours on end for tales of distant peoples and cultures. By the time she was 13, Osira had become an official acolyte of the Order, her parents hoping that perhaps their daughter would be able to stay out of trouble tending to the Taldani of the World Forest.

As a Priestess, she prospered, displaying an almost natural affinity for the Taldani even before the symbiosis ceremony. Taking up Treedancing – a cross between an athletic sport and dance of improvisation that saw participants leaping between branches high up in the canopy – Osira threw herself wholeheartedly at her roles within the Order. By the time she was 15 she had successfully performed the bonding ceremony with the Taldani. However, Osira’s adventurous spirit never once threatened to burn out, and when she came of age, she leapt at the opportunity to travel beyond the boundaries of the forest.

Despite her parents’ misgivings, the Order agreed to allow her to accept a request for a Green Priest from Kaeso Albinius. A long-time supporter of the Order, the famed General – retired from his Imperial service with a litany of honours and a stubborn determination to devote the remainder of his life to the path of peace rather than war – had watched the young woman grow during his visits to Omashu and was more than willing to have her join him on his journey. A pilgrimage really, to an ancient site within Imperial lands that he wished to have a Green Priest record for prosperity’s sake.

Phew, finally threw something together! Basing it heavily on a char I made for an earlier RP - with the Taldani themselves based strongling on the Verdani from the Saga of the Seven Suns series by Kevin J Anderson (hey, got to give credit where it's due ). I've gone ahead and copied an app I wrote up for the Taldani to try and give a quick rundown of what they are Pretty much a semi-sentient hivemind of trees. Hope it all looks good!

Name: The Taldani

Description:
The Taldani are (or is) an ancient species, stretching back into the eons of history and beyond as a constant presence upon the world. They are a race driven by the insatiable desire to consume and record knowledge. Whilst individual Taldani come in innumerous shapes and sizes to fulfil various different niches and roles – from the gargantuan Taldani upon whose branches entire settlements are built, to small but hardy sapplings that are carried across the continent with the Green Priests – they are all truthfully a single organism. The Taldani can only be accurately described as a collective mind with a seemingly infinite capacity to absorb and accumulate knowledge. It is this fact of their existence that enables them to be able to communicate instantaneously and share information between themselves no matter the physical gulf that may divide them – as in essence no single Taldani is an individual.

However, whilst the Taldani is conscious and has apparently no limit to its reservoirs of memory and knowledge, it lacks the ability to create and innovate – at least on any timescale noticeable to mortal beings. Very inward-facing, the Taldani exists as a collection of thoughts and recollections, the vast majority of which are inconsequential. This has resulted in them engaging in symbiotic relationships with other beings – the Green Priests. Through a bonding ceremony that fundamentally changes the creature involved, the Taldani mind opens itself to an outsider. These Green Priests can commune with the Taldani, interacting with the slow mind that results from the sum of its parts, and communicate with one another over impossible distances by using contact with the Taldani as a medium. Whilst the Green Priest gains access to the single largest repository of knowledge and information in all of creation, the Taldani gain access to individuals who can ‘catalogue’ its great stores and make sense of its knowledge.

As a point of lore, are there multiple languages in the fantasy world, or just one? I'd like to know so that I can plan accordingly.

Also, how many people are in the imperial army? I don't know if a complete barrage of machine guns and rocket launchers is going to last more than a few minutes, but it writes like the whole thing is taking an hour.

There are indeed multiple languages, i think it not unreasonable to think that each nation carries it's own language(much like IRL), with the imperial tongue being the de facto world language that those that know another language know. Of Course in regards to our old characters they might speak something comparatively to shakespeare's english - to our english.

As i wrote, 500 imperial soldiers started to advance towards the UN lines, the fighting lasted for 45-ish sec

Top grades in CIE, he continued to graduate with a History/Classics degree in New Zealand's top University, also became the Fencing club's best, all whilst serving in the reserves.

After graduation, he moved on to full army service. Applied to the SAS as an officer, accepted and served in Iraq to train the Iraqi Army. A brilliant officer and skilled operator, he has a promising career in the Armed Forces. Though not the strongest, his quick adoption of the martial arts, as well as his reflexes in combat gives him an edge over stronger soldiers. Newly promoted to LT.

Personality: A young man of good taste, perhaps to his blue bloodedness, speaks calmly, doesn't particularly like stressful situations, because he doesn't get stressed much, every problem is simple, obsessed with tradition and the order of things. A Conservative but would vote Clinton if he could.

Biography: Dimitri Aleksadr Zubarev was born 2 years after the Soviet Union dissolved, he  grew up to be an averagely smart boy but he had problems socializing. When he got to high school things became a lot more difficult with peer pressure and due to his hobby of absolutely nothing and also because he was bullied, he eventually graduated with scores high enough to pursue his desired course for Pre-Law, so his parents shipped him of from Vladivostok to St. Petersburg to study in the State University there.  

For the span of the 4 year course Dimitri had a breakdown after the 1st year due to stress from school work, home sickness and more stress from the demands of his family to pass the course, so his parents made a bet, either they had him go through a psychological analysis or have him crushed and built back up the latter was chosen and he was put in the military. At first the instructors thaught he was going to be sent back home with his preformance, but midway through training, after his old self was crushed and a new person was built, he eventually caught up with the rest of the class which caught the attention of his instructors, he was eventually separated from his class and put into a bomb disposal class with 5 other people from his class.  

The Second Chechen War was his first deployment, it was also where he was given the position of squad gunner and also his first taste in combat. His first engagement was when they had set up a trap for an enemy convoy, there Dimitri's expertice came handy as he was the one who set up the mines thus causing him to deal the most enemy casualties, the firefight followed and with the standard PKP Pecheneg he was given, him and his platoon mowed them down with "exceptional" casualties on their side. The following days the nightmares came, but he eventually over came the nightmares. After his deployment he was promoted to Private First Class due to his actions in in the theatre.

The next deployment after was in North Caucausus due to an insurgency, for the 3 months he was there he did bomb disposal and squad support, eventually bomb disposal became a skill when his batallion was being used as a back-up force which he didn't like since he hated just sitting around doing nothing, this eventually triggered a new hobby of drawing things he saw in base like squads on patrol duty, tanks and trucks comming in and out, even the simple civillian who was doing their daily tasks. With the time he had back at base doing the easy parts of the armed forces, Dimitri eventually became a very sociable person again to the extent where soldiers came to him to discuss their problems, at one point even his commanding officer came to him to seek for help. He was on patrol duty when he saw the Gate in Sweden open up, he heard of the civilian casualties and everything that happened, he had the urge to fight back, but it wasn't his country so he dropped it and went back on hid patrol. A few days past and his commanding officer gave him a folder with him saying "I'm not sure how you're going to react to this Dima, but you should think about going" which caused him to read it at once, the first thing he saw when he opened the folder was his record, it was more decorated than he thought, then he saw a UN file regarding Operation: Forward until Dawn, he was going to refuse, but then he read further, it was about what happened in Sweden, he had a rule about civilians, and the ammount that died in the incident fed the flame to get revenge, so he accepted, he aslo gave a requesition form for an STSh-81 SPHERA helmet after seeing who he would be fighting against and left on the next transport to Moscow for authentication and submission of his file and acceptance to Operation: Forward until Dawn and then to Sweden, but before he left for Sweden he was promoted to Junior Sergeant for accepting the offer and because of his actions in Caucausus before his Batallion was assigned to a reinforcement group.

Personality: Only the IC will determine (Mainly because I can't really stick to a pre-determined one)

Likes: Gaming, A hot meal, Dogs and cats, Cooking (Most of the time), Drawing things

A few days past and his commanding officer gave him a folder with him saying "I'm not sure how you're going to react to this Dima, but you should think about going" which caused him to read it at once, the first thing he saw when he opened the folder was his record, it was more decorated than he thought, then he saw a UN file regarding Operation: Forward until Dawn, he was going to refuse, but then he read further, it was about what happened in Sweden, he had a rule about civilians, and the ammount that died in the incident fed the flame to get revenge, so he accepted, he aslo gave a requesition form for an STSh-81 SPHERA helmet after seeing who he would be fighting against and left on the next transport to Moscow for authentication and submission of his file and acceptance to Operation: Forward until Dawn and then to Sweden, but before he left for Sweden he was promoted to Junior Sergeant for accepting the offer and because of his actions in Caucausus before his Batallion was assigned to a reinforcement group.

Biography: Born in Auckland, New Zealand. His parents were somewhat wealthy, with a legitimate, but weak claim to English nobility.

Nicola Wyss, our Swiss medic, is chatting with a necromancer; Monfrox has put a gun barrel to the head of said necromancer who seems to have continued chatting nonchalantly; Césaire, Tori and a few others have spotted a hitler-saluting dwarf; our resident pissed-off German (not you Warglor, the other one) is currently debating the commonality between body gestures between historical cultures with the crew of our CV90; and Capt. Gardener has successfully preformed a dive tackle on a homicidal dark-elf while also 360° noscoping an enemy officer. Full day for everyone.
