Since Risottia denied the Duterte nomination for no real reason at all, I back the nomination of future president, Donald J. Trump!

If I remove 'invented CCTV cameras' can resubmit it and have the nominations I have received upheld? It was a little joke I added, I'll make it more serious because it is a serious nomination. This is an outrageous decision that makes a mockery of the NSG Peace Prize process. You've removed the joint second highest nomination from the list, this can only be a politically motivated decision, the committee has a horrific bias and is unfit for purpose.

As a protest, I hereby nominate Donald J. Trump until further notice.

To be fair, it was the first year, and not that many people thought that this would be a serious occasion.

Votes by year:

Year I: 142 votes, Kim Jong Il wins with 37 (26%)
Year II: 74 votes, Arab Spring wins with 22 (30%)
Year III: 44 votes, Aung San Suu Kyi wins with 13 (30%)
Year IV: 72 votes, Malala Yousafzai wins with 24 (33%)
Year V: 40 votes, HK Campaigners win with 17 (43%)
Year IV: 68 votes, Docs win with 27 (40%)

Seems to me that the first year we had the most votes, almost twice as much as any other year, I mean without Year I, the average's at 60 votes. If anything, it seems that he won because there was no run off vote, rather than a lack of interest. If there was a run off, it's likely that Aung San Suu Kyi would've won, but hey, she ended up winning anyways, so that worked out.

For the third time running, I nominate Blue Shield International.

The Blue Shield is the cultural equivalent of the Red Cross. It is the protective emblem specified in the 1954 Hague Convention (Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict) for marking cultural sites to give them protection from attack in the event of armed conflict. The Blue Shield network consists of organizations dealing with museums, archives, audiovisual supports, libraries, as well as monuments and sites.

http://www.ancbs.org/cms/en/about-us

In a period where cultural heritage is under considerable threat from war - as shown by (among other examples) the wanton destruction of cultural heritage in Syria and Iraq by most sides in the overlapping conflicts - those heritage professionals who risk their lives to at least try and save our global cultural heritage for future generations deserve some form of recognition even if the nature of their work means they're not always successful.

I concede my bias, both in terms of general profession and as the (newly appointed) heritage manager for a national Red Cross - but I don't work for the Blue Shield, so I believe I can nominate my Hague Convention colleagues.

I have made it under the nomination deadline, right? I've been a little distracted by the new job over the last week or so. I might have left it a little too late to get supporting nominations, so I might have to try again next year....

It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

* Committee hat on *

It is of my opinion that recent events relating to Donald Trump’s misogynistic comments (BBC, 10 October 2016) may place the NSG Peace Prize at risk of serious disrepute if his nomination is allowed to proceed and he subsequently wins.

While I understand the reasons behind the nominations for Donald Trump, it is in my opinion that the serious issues surround Trump, including his comments on Latinos and his proposal to ban all Muslims from the country, outweigh the benefits of allowing such nomination. I recommend that Risottia take this into account.

I also recommend that the official reason for rejecting the nominations for Rodrigo Duterte is due to his role in the Philippine "War on Drugs" and his willingness to slaughter three million drug addicts in response to that (Reuters, 7 October 2016).

I nominate Rodrigo Roa Duterte for refusing to abide by a proxy war, confrontation with China, proceeding with bilateral negotiations, kicking the US soldiers out of the Philippines to prevent them from being subject to attacks or rile up tension and preventing Southeast Asia from being a spark plug for world war 3.

That the tongue of peace speaks harsh words is no justification for it to be disqualified. Would those bold happy warriors Malcom X and Nelson Mandela have not encountered the rejection and denunciation by the uncommitted and ignorant? We are all children of God, but must listen to our elders.

The serious point being. This is supposed to be a peace prize. I have given my reasons for why Trump should be given it. "Being nice to women and minorities" was not part of those reasons. And those reasons were accepted by the Magic Circle.

This is an outrage. First Duterte, then Trump. The NSG Peace Prize has already put itself into disrepute with the removal of Rodrigo Duterte, feel free to put it into further disrepute by deselecting Trump.

In the event of the removal of Donald Trump, I'm putting forth an alternative standard bearer for Trump and Duterte supporters'. My nomination for Donald Trump still stands, but should Trump be removed I'll be formally putting forward this alternative:

I nominate nuclear weapons. Nuclear weapons have been used by every single arbiter of peace, from the United States to Russia to China, to avert war between each other due to the fear of Mutually Assured Destruction. Thanks to them there has been no World War III, IV or V. The saving of the seven billion people on this Earth from the horrors experienced in 1939-45 should not be taken for granted. It is time to give nuclear weapons the credit they deserve - they've been waiting since Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which saved millions that would have inevitably died in a conventional invasion of Japan.

I assume this should be ok - nuclear weapons are an inanimate object still existing after all.

Risottia has not discounted Trump yet, and if he does it will just be further evidence that the NSGeneralite Magic Circle are a dying force on their own board and destroy the credibility of this prize.

In case Donald Trump is thrown out of the race, I will give my nomination to Michael Gove, for his excellent work in reforming Britain's education and justice system, and for being the moral winner of the Famous Brexiteers, by hanging onto his job (or hope for a job) the longest.
