"Well, taking breaks might help." Naia said. "Although I personally haven't been shot before, or am I even able to be shot...?" She trails off, looking at the expanse of the Mediterranean Sea.

Assad was quiet, unsure of how to continue the conversation. "I often don't feel like I can take breaks. It feels like the only breaks I have are when I'm hurt or get sick, and that's it."

"Mmm..." Naia didn't know how to continue the conversation, but the Helmsman interrupted her thoughts.
"Egyptian Coastline is a few miles away. Should we enter the Seuz Canal?"
Naia looked at Assad. "What do you think?"

"No. I'm very suspicious of North Africa, and I want to avoid them at all costs," Assad said. ". . . I'm sorry if . . . if that'll waste time and gas."

"Oh, it's no worries." Naia looked at the Helmsman. "Continue toward Gibraltar."
"Full speed, aye ma'am." The helsman nodded as he pushed the throttle to max, the Thorn gaining speed.

Assad looked down at his lap, and folded his hands. Taking in a breath still hurt, and he was uncomfortable. He really wanted to lie down, but that wasn't an option until he healed; the doctor said he had to sleep sitting up for the next few weeks, along with the liquid diet. His back was hurting a little from sitting in a hard chair and not lying down for several days. What was worse was that he couldn't seem to continue the conversation, and he didn't want to bring up the actual operation plans until they were far out of range of any nation's radar, which was why he had chosen a remote island off the coast of Antarctica for his meeting.
Eventually, the pain in his torso got the better of him, and he put his head in his hands. "Naia . . . I hurt so bad . . . and I can't get up."

Snapping her fingers, she nodded as a woman wearing a green lightweight body armor and a green helmet walked in, almost instantly. Naia looked at the soldier, and saluted.
"Kurisu, get Assad treated."
"Yes ma'am." Kurisu nodded, slowly helping Assad up and walking him down to the medbay in one of the helicopter hangers. Before the two left, Naia nodded.
"I'll tell you when we arrive." She said as she shut the door to the bridge.

Assad wasn't sure what to say or do at this point. In fact, he felt it was best to remain silent. "It's not completely serious. I just . . . I can't lie down."

"Mhm, not completely serious." Kurisu laughed as they got to the medbay. Looking at Assad, she raised an eyebrow. "Can you at least sit, if you can't lay down?"

"I've been sitting. My back hurts. The lower part of my spine . . . it needs to be aligned, but I can't lie on my stomach with my injury. Can't lie on my back, either. Breathing sort of hurts as well." He was a little concerned as to how they might go about this, as the last thing he wanted was surgery.

"Well, the only way to fix that is to realign your spine." Kurisu explained. "Luckily, we stole some high-end stuff from a freighter not to long ago, said it was addressed to the Japs." She set Assad down on a chair, removing her helmet and letting her chestnut hair fall down to her middle back. "So sorry to say this, but we have to do surgery."

Kurisu nodded. "We'll get it done quick, its nothing to worry about." She snapped her fingers, and two soldiers with large red crosses on their helmets walked over.
"Yes ma'am?" One of them asked.
"Get me anesthesia." Kurisu ordered. As soon as the soldier heard that, he ran over to a box, and pulled out a needle with a liquid in it. He walked back over, and gave the needle to Kurisu.
One of the two soldiers picked up Assad, and made him sit on a bed, and started making the preparations for surgery. Next to Kurisu were tools to be used, and there were also two other medics waiting to begin. Upon finishing the preparations, Kurisu put on a lab coat, and tied a towel around her mouth to cover it.
As Kurisu held the needle in her hand, she nodded, looking into Assad's blue eyes. "You'll feel better, trust me."
And with that, she stabbed the syringe into Assad's arm.

There was first a look of shock when the needle went in, but then a more relaxed look was in Assad's eyes as the anesthesia took effect. I'm at peace. No politics. No war. No economics. No staff. It's amazing what mental . . . peace . . . feels like . . . Blackness danced across his visions before it completely engulfed him.
