Our Forces

Christian States Army
Image
The Christian States Army, 300,000 strong, with another 150,000 reserves, stands at the ready to defend the UCS and her allies.

Individual weapons
The army employs various individual weapons to provide light firepower at short ranges. The most common weapons used by the army are the compact variant of the M16 rifle, the M4 carbine, as well as the 7.62x51 mm variant of the FN SCAR for Army Rangers. The primary sidearm in the U.C.S. Army is the 9 mm M9 pistol.

Many units are supplemented with a variety of specialized weapons, including the M249 SAW (Squad Automatic Weapon), to provide suppressive fire at the fire-team level. Indirect fire is provided by the M203 grenade launcher. The M1014 Joint Service Combat Shotgun or the Mossberg 590 Shotgun are used for door breaching and close-quarters combat. The M14EBR is used by long-range marksmen, and the M107 Long Range Sniper Rifle, the M24 Sniper Weapon System, and the M110 Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle are used by snipers. Hand grenades, such as the M67 fragmentation grenade and M18 smoke grenade, are also used.

Crew served weapons
The army employs various crew-served weapons to provide heavy firepower at ranges exceeding that of individual weapons.

The M240 is the UCS Army's standard Medium Machine Gun. The M2 heavy machine gun is generally used as a vehicle-mounted machine gun. In the same way, the 40 mm MK 19 grenade machine gun is mainly used by motorized units.

The UCS Army uses three types of mortar for indirect fire support when heavier artillery may not be appropriate or available. The smallest of these is the 60 mm M224, normally assigned at the infantry company level. At the next higher echelon, infantry battalions are typically supported by a section of 81 mm M252 mortars. The largest mortar in the army's inventory is the 120 mm M120/M121, usually employed by mechanized units.

Fire support for light infantry units is provided by towed howitzers, including the 105 mm M119A1 and the 155 mm M777.

The UCS Army utilizes a variety of direct-fire rockets and missiles to provide infantry with an Anti-Armor Capability. The AT4 is an unguided projectile that can destroy armor and bunkers at ranges up to 500 meters. The FIM-92 Stinger is a shoulder-launched, heat seeking anti-aircraft missile. The FGM-148 Javelin and BGM-71 TOW are anti-tank guided missiles.

Vehicles

The army's most common vehicle is the High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV), commonly called the Humvee, which is capable of serving as a cargo/troop carrier, weapons platform, and ambulance, among many other roles. While they operate a wide variety of combat support vehicles, one of the most common types centers on the family of HEMTT vehicles. The M1A2 Abrams is the army's main battle tank, while the M2A3 Bradley is the standard infantry fighting vehicle. Other vehicles include the Stryker, and the M113 armored personnel carrier, and multiple types of Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles.

The Fortress bought 25,000 MRAP vehicles since 2037 in 25 variants through rapid acquisition with no long-term plans for the platforms. The Army plans to divest 7,456 vehicles and retain 8,585. Of the total number of vehicles the Army will keep, 5,036 will be put in storage, 1,073 will be used for training, and the remaining will be spread across the active force. The Oshkosh M-ATV will be kept the most at 5,681 vehicles, as it is smaller and lighter than other MRAPs for off-road mobility. The other most retained vehicle will be the Navistar MaxxPro Dash with 2,633 vehicles, plus 301 Maxxpro ambulances. Thousands of other MRAPs like the Cougar, BAE Caiman, and larger MaxxPros will be disposed of.

The U.C.S. Army's principal artillery weapons are the M109A6 Paladin self-propelled howitzer and the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), both mounted on tracked platforms and assigned to heavy mechanized units.

While the U.C.S. Army operates a few fixed-wing aircraft, it mainly operates several types of rotary-wing aircraft. These include the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter, the OH-58D Kiowa Warrior armed reconnaissance/light attack helicopter, the UH-60 Black Hawk utility tactical transport helicopter, and the CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift transport helicopter.

Fixed wing aircraft used by the UCS Army are for non-front line combat and light transport roles. The army relies on the Christian States Air Force for airlift capabilities.

Uniforms
The Army Combat Uniform, or ACU, currently features a digital Universal Camouflage Pattern (UCP) and is designed for use in woodland, desert, and urban environments.

The standard garrison service uniform is known as Army Greens or Class-As and has been worn by all officers and enlisted personnel. The Army Blue uniform is currently the Army's formal dress uniform, but in 1981, it replaced the Army Green, and in 1982 it replaced the Army White uniform (a uniform similar to the Army Green uniform, but worn in tropical postings) and will become the new Army Service Uniform, which will function as both a garrison uniform (when worn with a white shirt and necktie) and a dress uniform (when worn with a white shirt and either a necktie for parades or a bow tie for after six or black tie events).

Christian States Navy
Image
Our blue water navy, with 300,000 sailors and 102,000 reserves, has the capability to project forces world wide.

Ships

The names of commissioned ships of the U.C.S. Navy are prefixed with the letters "CSS", designating "Christian States Ship". Non-commissioned, civilian-manned vessels of the navy have names that begin with "CSNS", standing for "Christian States Naval Ship"

Aircraft carriers
A carrier is typically deployed along with a host of additional vessels, forming a carrier strike group. The supporting ships, which usually include three or four Aegis-equipped cruisers and destroyers, a frigate, and two attack submarines, are tasked with protecting the carrier from air, missile, sea, and undersea threats as well as providing additional strike capabilities themselves. Ready logistics support for the group is provided by a combined ammunition, oiler, and supply ship.

Amphibious warfare vessels
Amphibious assault ships are the centerpieces of UCS amphibious warfare and fulfill the same power projection role as aircraft carriers except that their striking force centers on land forces instead of aircraft. They deliver, command, coordinate, and fully support all elements of a 2,200-strong Marine Expeditionary Unit in an amphibious assault using both air and amphibious vehicles. Resembling small aircraft carriers, amphibious assault ships are capable of V/STOL, STOVL, VTOL, tiltrotor, and rotary wing aircraft operations. They also contain a well deck to support the use of Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) and other amphibious assault watercraft. Recently, amphibious assault ships have begun to be deployed as the core of an expeditionary strike group, which usually consists of an additional amphibious transport dock and dock landing ship for amphibious warfare and an Aegis-equipped cruiser and destroyer, frigate, and attack submarine for group defense. Amphibious assault ships are typically named after World War II aircraft carriers.

Amphibious transport docks are warships that embark, transport, and land Marines, supplies, and equipment in a supporting role during amphibious warfare missions. With a landing platform, amphibious transport docks also have the capability to serve as secondary aviation support for an expeditionary group. All amphibious transport docks can operate helicopters, LCACs, and other conventional amphibious vehicles while the newer San Antonio class of ships has been explicitly designed to operate all three elements of the Marines' "mobility triad": Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles (EFVs), the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor aircraft, and LCACs. Amphibious transport docks are named for cities.

The dock landing ship is a medium amphibious transport that is designed specifically to support and operate LCACs, though it is able to operate other amphibious assault vehicles in the Christian States inventory as well. Dock landing ships are normally deployed as a component of an expeditionary strike group's amphibious assault contingent, operating as a secondary launch platform for LCACs. All dock landing ships are named after locations in North America.

Surface vessels
Cruisers are large surface combat vessels that conduct anti-air/anti-missile warfare, surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and strike operations independently or as members of a larger task force. Modern guided missile cruisers were developed out of a need to counter the anti-ship missile threat facing the Christian States Navy. This led to the development of the AN/SPY-1 phased array radar and the Standard missile with the Aegis combat system coordinating the two..

Destroyers are multi-mission medium surface ships capable of sustained performance in anti-air, anti-submarine, anti-ship, and offensive strike operations. Like cruisers, guided missile destroyers are primarily focused on surface strikes using Tomahawk missiles and fleet defense through Aegis and the Standard missile. Destroyers additionally specialize in anti-submarine warfare and are equipped with VLA rockets and LAMPS Mk III Sea Hawk helicopters to deal with underwater threats.

Modern frigates mainly perform anti-submarine warfare for carrier strike groups and amphibious expeditionary groups and provide armed escort for supply convoys and merchant shipping. They are designed to protect friendly ships against hostile submarines in low to medium threat environments, using torpedoes and LAMPS helicopters. Independently, frigates are able to conduct counterdrug missions and other maritime interception operations.

Submarines
All current and planned U.C.S. Navy submarines are nuclear-powered, as only nuclear propulsion allows for the combination of stealth and long duration, high-speed sustained underwater movement that makes modern nuclear submarines so vital to a modern blue-water navy. The U.C.S. Navy operates three types: ballistic missile submarines, guided missile submarines, and attack submarines. U.C.S. Navy (nuclear) ballistic missile submarines carry the stealthiest leg of the U.C.S. strategic triad (the other legs are the land-based U.C.S. strategic missile force and the air-based strategic bomber force). These submarines have only one mission: to carry and, if called upon, to launch the Trident nuclear missile. The primary missions of attack and guided missile submarines in the U.C.S. Navy are peacetime engagement, surveillance and intelligence, special operations, precision strikes, and control of the seas. To these, attack submarines also add the battlegroup operations mission. Attack and guided missile submarines have several tactical missions, including sinking ships and other subs, launching cruise missiles, gathering intelligence, and assisting in special operations.

Aircraft
Carrier-based aircraft are able to strike air, sea, and land targets far from a carrier strike group while protecting friendly forces from enemy aircraft, ships, and submarines. In peacetime, aircraft's ability to project the threat of sustained attack from a mobile platform on the seas gives Christian States leaders significant diplomatic and crisis-management options.

Weapons
Current U.C.S. Navy shipboard weapons systems are almost entirely focused on missiles, both as a weapon and as a threat. In an offensive role, missiles are intended to strike targets at long distances with accuracy and precision. Because they are unmanned weapons, missiles allow for attacks on heavily defended targets without risk to human pilots. Land strikes are the domain of the BGM-109 Tomahawk, which was first deployed in the 2020s and is continually being updated to increase its capabilities. For anti-ship strikes, the navy's dedicated missile is the Harpoon Missile. To defend against enemy missile attack, the navy operates a number of systems that are all coordinated by the Aegis combat system.

Naval fixed-wing aircraft employ much of the same weapons as the Christian States Air Force for both air-to-air and air-to-surface combat. Air engagements are handled by the heat-seeking Sidewinder and the radar guided AMRAAM missiles along with the M61 Vulcan cannon for close range dogfighting. For surface strikes, navy aircraft utilize a combination of missiles, smart bombs, and dumb bombs.

Nuclear weapons in the U.C.S. Navy arsenal are deployed through ballistic missile submarines and aircraft. The Ohio-class submarine carries the latest iteration of the Trident missile, a three-stage, submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) with MIRV capability. The navy's other nuclear weapon is the air-deployed B61 nuclear bomb. The B61 is a thermonuclear device that can be dropped by strike aircraft such as the F/A-18 Hornet and Super Hornet at high speed from a large range of altitudes. It can be released through free-fall or parachute and can be set to detonate in the air or on the ground.

Christian States Air Force
Image

The Christian States Air Force consists of 200,000 airmen, supplemented by 150,000 reserves, and is driven by maintaining air superiority, or as close to it as we can come.

The U.C.S. Air Force has over 5,638 aircraft in service as of September 2016.

Military Partnership

Nation: The Huterric Union
Population: ~2 billion
Geographic Location: Capricornarius
Military Size: 10 million active personnel, 50 million reserve
Government Type: Parliamentary Constitutional Mortocracy
Leader: PM Jason Waterfalls (Government), Andrew Slipper (Military)
Purpose of Partnership: To set in stone the alliance our two nations are building, and to show we are serious about keeping positive ties by officially partnering with your military and joining alongsideif the UCS is to go to war

Port of Call

Nation: The Huterric Union
Location: Laclan, Federal District of Laclanshire, The Huterric Union
Port(s): Port Trafatan Navy Quarter

Port of Call

Nation: The Huterric Union
Location: Lassin, Wicklepuckett, The Huterric Union
Port(s): Lassin Joint Foreign Military Base

Host Installations

Nation: The Huterric Union
Location: Lassin Joint Foreign Military Base (LJFMB), Lassin, Wicklepuckett, The Huterric Union
Reason for Hosting Installation: Lassin is the 2nd largest city in our 3rd largest state, Wicklepuckett, and our 9th largest city overall. Lassin, being on the north Wicklepuckett coast, has become a strategically important city for the military. The LJFMB is our the 5th military base we've built in the city, but the first for foreign militaries, and we want the UCS to use it as a gift from Huterrica (for the same reasons as our military partnership) as Lassin will become important if war erupts, and during peacetime it is a very useful barracks and place to test things. Please note the Huterric Union stores most of its nuclear arsenal 15km east of the base at HMP (Huterric Military Property) Lassin Nuclear, and consequently we do not permit any UCS personnel to go east of the base. We can also offer shuttle buses into Central Lassin (15km west of the base) upon request.
TL;DR: Lassin is a big city because it is important and we have loads of military bases and we recently built one for foreign militaries that we're giving to the UCS as a gift. We keep our nukes east of the site and will not allow any UCS personnel east as a result, and upon request will provide a shuttle bus into the centre of Lassin.
Type of Installation: Joint (Navy, Army, Air Force). The navy will use it as a Port of Call, the Army will be permitted to use it as a barracks until a time of war comes, and the Air Force may use Lassin asa destination for planes on their test flights.
Size of Installation: A square base on the coast, 4km by 4km.
Number of Soldiers Allowed to be on Base: As many as you can fit, so roughly 10,000 soldiers (give or take a few).
