The story is as old as civilization itself. 2017 started as a calm and peaceful year, stocks looked promising, crops were flourishing, and nations were as close as they had been in many years. Trade was opening on new routes, and nations were far more open than they had been before. The peace caused many nations to grow rich and powerful, but as history shows us, power often leads to corruption. The signs were very faint at first, large spending began, soon came curfews and more nationalist ideals. And for a time no one noticed it. Many were to busy growing themselves to care what other nations were doing internally, and as long as it didn’t affect their wealth it didn’t matter. But as countries slowly extended their influence to their neighbors, others began to notice. Those who had not been prepared, we at risking of falling, and those who had were busy readying themselves for possible conflict. And in the summer of 2016 a peace still held, but many could already feel the shadow of war falling over them.

The Daimyo drank his cup of green tea as he sat on the balcony of his office on the Keijo Citadel, watching the sun rise. He wondered on what to do. The military of the Empire was massive, at 6 million people. Meanwhile, the more populated, but nation with a smaller military, of the nation of the Illuminati of Asia, was at the borders in the North. If they could win a war, they could take Manchuria, and invade further into the China, controlled by Illuminati of Asia. It was a seemingly good idea. Manchuria and China was an industrial heaven. Resources, oil, and many other ways to get more money were located in China. Invading the Illuminati could yield good results.

As such, he made the preparations.

Forces of the Sang-eo Imperial Army were to build up on the border. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers could be utilized in the future campaign. If they could gain the support of other countries neighbouring the Illuminati, they could easily take it over, though war was a distant thing, and it was time to work on nearer things.

There were many possible allies around the world, one of them, was Chinevion, located below the Illuminati. It could be a good ally to rally against the Illuminati, and possibly split the rich resources of the Illuminati between them.

The Daimyo called his messanger to the balcony. He told him on what he needed him to do. Make forces of the 2nd and 4th Imperial Armies rally on the Illuminati Border, and send a telegram to Chinevion in hopes of gaining an ally against the Illuminati of Asia.

A flying recon drone from the 5th unmanned wing spotted a unusually high build up of troops along the border. This information was sent to command for evaluation.
Command Headquarters
Supreme forces commander Admiral John Kim looked over the information provided by the drone. He order a few more divisions of troops to the broder. Some more submarines where moved off to the Korean peninsula to provide cruise missiles if needed. The 9 CAS Wing prepared their aircraft if war broke out and the troops along the border needed air support. The 3rd CSG led by the ISS Hong Kong began to maneuver closer to the homeland.

The marching band marched through the streets of Canada's wonderful capital city of Ottawa, playing the snare drums, bass drums, cymbals and trumpets. Today was Canada's annual Peace and Prosperity Parade, which celebrated as the festival's name suggests, Canada's... peace and prosperity. Prime Minister Matthew Burgundy stepped out onto the streets, the loud crowd erupting into cheery applause. Matthew stepped up onto the stage and was ready to begin speaking.

"Ahem... Hello, everyone! Today is the annual Peace and Prosperity Parade!, the crowd begin cheering even louder. For years, since its independence from Britain in 1867, has been a nation of greatness, and a symbol of peacefulness worldwide. Today, today we, the Canadian people will celebrate that! Goodbye, everyone, I will be taking my leave, but remember what this day means to you, your friends, your family....everyone."

The crowd would begin applauding, their cheers growing even louder as a band came onto the stage to perform the National Anthem of Canada...

January 1st, 2017
For the 350,000,000+ citizens of the Kongo Empire, it is more than just the start of a new year. It is the 67th anniversary since the official beginning of the empire when the Kingdom of the Kongo was formed and from there spread to its modern territory. All across the nation parades were happening, alcohol was consumed, food was eaten, flags were flying. It was such a merry day for the people. At night there were millions of fireworks shot off. At military bases, they held their own special ceremony by using old tanks and rockets to blow stuff up. It made them happy.

In the capital, Kinshasa, King André Philippe Futa and Prime Minister Évariste Boshab were enjoying the day by talking to people gathered in the Kings Palace Courtyard. The King had personally invited over 300 homeless people to dine free of charge at his palace. He had paid for clothing and a room in a local hotel to stay for a month.

The king- He is very generous with the money he had, and refused to cut into tax dollars. He had been born into a wealthy family in the city of Lagos; his father owned an oil refinery and several mines and also was a successful entrepreneur who owned companies that worked internationally. His estimated we worth was roughly $1.3 billion, and each January first he would spend $20-50 million on providing for the poorer people in cities throughout the country. He only wished he could do more. He wanted his country to be even more successful than it already was, what with a GDP of nearly $16 trillion, a powerful military, peace, and so much more. He didn't want out of greed but of hope that the people would be the happiest in the world.

President Alaric Kuhn sat on the top floor of a large building. The building was quite old, having been built in the early days of the NUC. The high arch ways and pillars still stood after years of storms, and the occasional failed invasion. The top floor of the 3 story building gave a fair view of the inner city surrounding the buidling. Near the middle of the top floor sat a large room, and office. Within it sat a black office chair, it's back turned to the door across the room. In the chair sat the President, slowly sipping on his coffee as thousands of people walked past the building. Some were on their way to work, other might just be walking home. The President found himself in these situtations more often then not. In the previous years the territory of NUC had grown large in Europe, and with it came wealth and power. The GDP per cappita had risen nearly 5% in the last 2 years alone, and the unemployment rate fell by twice as much.

Soon a soft knock came from across the room. Nearly silent the President did not hear it until it came again slightly louder. With out turning he spoke to the person "I'm here, come in." Slowly a small young women pushed open the door. Her hair had been tied behind her head, yet the curles could still be seen. She spoke in a small and soft voice, as if she was afriad to wake a sleeping dragon "Mr President, The Minister of Defense has requested you for a security briefing" With a heavy sigh, he place his coffee back on the table. Stretching his hands behind his head he approched the door, reciving papers from the aid. As they walked down the long hallways of the building he said but a few words "Please, call me Mr Kuhn"

Enter the large windowless room that was the breifing area, the president walked around the table, arriving at a small fruit basket. Having been several hours since his last meal, he quickly picked up the apple before taking his seat near at the far end of the table. Across the room sat a large wall, upon which a projector displayed a map outlining the boarders of IoA and Sang-eo. A man dressed in a unifrom littered with medals stood up pointing to the thin line seperating the two countries. He explianed tensions had begun rising in the area following what appeared to be a build up of soldiers along the boarder. Spy aircraft had some photos but not much had changed. It was deemed a low level threat for the time being, but the area was put on watch. Instead messages had begun to be drafted to arrive in the SEAL, hoping to set up some sort of international trade agreement.

After the Adevian leader proposed unity against foreign threats to the leader of Chinevion there has been suspicion if an unmentioned threat was the Soviet States of Eurasia (OOC: AKA me). The SSE invaded Adevia twice before, inflicting massive damage upon the infrastructure and military there. Soviet forces have been drilling in ship to ship action in the North Sea, as the Soviet government is wary of the scheming Adevians. 15 ships, including 2 Carriers, are currently in the North Sea, in international waters. Soviet aircraft have also been drilling in the North Sea against several target ships towed out for target practice. Adevian allies such as the IoA are also on the watch list, with SSE tanks drilling near Manchuria.

An election in the Soviet Congress has turned out a lefter legislature. 44 Democratic Socialist representatives were elected, and the Nationalist's lost their single seat. The Conservative party lost 10 seats as well, and the Democratic Marxist party gained 5 seats. Nationalist leader Adolf Hiller called the elections "Despicable" and a "failure". He then went back to his standard Jew bashing, calling for a return of Pogroms. The Nationalists have been loosing support ever since the reform of the education systems in 2010. The leader of the Conservative party was much more mild about his party's losses, saying: "You can't argue with Democracy".

SEAL leaders from Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei and Singapore arrive in Manila to discuss an important matter. They are greeted with love and affection by the Southeast Asian people, of course, since they are in Manila, this mainly consists of Filipinos. Manila is a bustling city full of markets skyscrapers, and it's expanding importance in the world stage has resulted in the slums slowly being converted to massive new suburbs. The same is happening in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, and cities all around the League. Unification is treating them well, and they believe expansion will have the same result.

The room fell quiet as Miguel walked in, his expression ice cold and hard as steel. He walked around the table of leaders from all corners of the League, and say at the end of the table. All eyes were on him at this point.

<Miguel> "My comrades, have we come to a decision?"

<Anonymous leader> "No sir, we have not reached a decision, although I honestly believe that most are in favour."

The room erupted in argument again as leader reached across tables simply to shout at anyone who opposed their opinions.

More fortifications were put up along the border and 18th cavalry division was brought to the border along with 40th tanks and 132nd artillery. The naval fleet began manvoures and the SSGNs moved closer to the Korean coast. A freemason class special ops delivery sub was deployed to the area. More base were fortified and the air defense were set up. AWACS craft and fighter esorcts were in the air also along with P7 patrol planes patroling the coast, looking for subs and watercraft.

Hundreds of thousands of Sang-eo troops were deployed to the border. Literally thousands of thanks were lined up on the border, even outnumbering all tank forces of the Illuminati of Asia already. Airbases near the borders, filled with squadrons of Sukhoi PAK FAs, prepared for the invasion of the Illuminati of Asia. The plans were still in preparation stages, but the essence would stay throughout. The plan was to airstrike at airbases all over the Illuminati, taking out any of their air support and gaining full aerial superiority. Then, they would bomb military bases, to take out their resistance, then naval bases and then move on to supporting the ground troops. The ground troops would push forward, using the tactics of Erwin Rommel, in a blitzkreig-like formation to gain as much ground in the Illuminati. The navy would blockade ports of the Illuminati, and from home, the Rocket Strike Command will fire non nuclear ICBMs and other missles at Illuminati to maximize the damage.

But now, all they had to do was to prepare themselves for the invasion, and train even harder, waiting for the Daimyo to order the invasion.

Thailand accepted the terms for incorporation into the union, which surprised a large number of South Easterners, both political or not. Thailand would act like all other members of the League, with a semi autonomous government and limited control over the designated regions. Although, similar to how when the Philippines was separated into separated governments for Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, and how Malaysia was separated into Malay, Sabah, and Sarawak, Thailand was to be separated into groupings across a north and south divide. The north would be made up of the north and northeast regions, while the south would be made up of the south and central regions.

Following the incorporation of Thailand, the economy experienced a boost it hadn't seen following the forming of the Union. The League government took the opurtunity to fix up some administrative districts, letting Singapore incorporate some of the surrounding Malay land, as well as giving a bit of Sarawak to Brunei to connect the exclave to the central part of Brunei. Celebrations took place in Manila, Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpar, and cities all around the league.

As a sign of strength on the world stage, a telegram is sent from Manila to Beijing to discuss trade deals with the Illuminati of Asia.

As a symbol of unity, religuous officials from all around the league were supposed to announce that segregation based on religion was ignorant and preposterous, and that while religion may divide us, so much else unites us. This day, under no coincidence, also announced the peace talks between the de-facto state of Bangasmoro and the region of Mindanao to elimate the threat of Abu Sayeff. The talks were a success and Bangasmoro became a part of Mindanao with some special privileges. The entire night was a success and people celebrated once more.

It seems like the world is rapidly going down a path it really shouldn't have. We have border buildups and high tensions in Asia and it seems like we're just having a cold war between some other countries and the rest of the world. The only ones that really don't give a damn is the Swedes who are currently just minding themselves and preparing for the inevitable just in case. As Mitchell was finishing up a match against the SIA Director in Infinite Warfare, he notices that it is time for him to get back to his duties. Just as he gets up, he gets a notification saying that the First National Bank Of Stockholm is being robbed by a cartel. The damn Los Demons Helvete are at their damn tricks again. As such, Mitchell orders the SNG to send in some AH-72 Savages and an HH-60 to drop off SNG troops to protect the nation's budget from being taken by a bunch of crooks. As he tries to get his mind off that, he decides to watch some of Sweden's favorite show, Viva La Fegel, which is in its third season.
