Civil War in Nchiyamengi

OOC: I'd like to keep this as realistic as possible in the real world sense of it, as in no foreign nation becoming directly involved and as few large and / or futuristic nations as involved as possible. You can provide some military and / or financial backing to any of the sides involved, but keep it fairly minimal, don't send in your own forces and keep it realistic.

Trade sanctions and political isolation are good. Also, much like the real world Equatorial Guinea, the Kampiya regime are open to making a deal to have radioactive waste resulting from nuclear energy plants dumped in certain locations in the Republic in return for economic and political support.

Reports of Rebel Attack on Labour Camps

There are some reports coming in now of a rebel attack on a political prisoner forced labour mining camp in Mlimayamaisha Province. While the government and any major news outlet has yet to confirm the alleged attack, several cellphone videos have surfaced, along with recordings leaked through pro-rebel underground media sources of an active attack on the camp, seemingly with the aim to free political prisoners forced to work there by the ruling regime.

Initial reports suggest the attack is being orchestrated by the Watu wa Mapinduzi cha Ukombozi wa (WMU) / Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL) / People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (PRLF), and some speculate this may have been what its leader, General Antonio Hlayambinda, may have been referring to when he vowed to "liberate the oppressed proletariat, free the children of Africa".

It is expected the attack came now so as to prevent the guards from being able to execute the political prisoners before the rebels could free them. Explosives set off around the compound, particularly it seems by the guards huts are predicted to have been set late last night in an initial espionage move. Leaked footage seems to show RPG and machine gun fire from the wooded areas around the compound and from within the compound which it appears the rebels have breached. Guards appear to be firing back, but seem outgunned.

If the incident proves real, and is not just a hoax, the government will likely respond with reinforcements soon, but they, and the media networks they hold massive sway over, may openly deny any such incident.

Images taken in the nearby city of Mjiwadhahabu, seemingly taken by someone linked officially with neither the rebels nor the government, seem to show military vehicles heading out in the direction of the labour camps with haste.

The government and major media networks have still yet to comment officially on the ongoing situation.

Rebel media seems to show government reinforcements arriving to help with the battle, but it appears most of the political prisoners have already been freed and that they are now retreating back into the mountains. It is near nightfall anyway. Some of their media seems to show a government plane surveilling the situation from out of RPG range.

Image

The buildings of the compound are also on fire, from both the earlier explosions and RPG fire.

Portavoz Nacional Juan Kampiya, the national spokesman and son of the Presidente Marcos Kampiya, has officially given a press conference. In it he made it confirmed that there had been an attack on a camp established by the Patriotic Labour Act, where political prisoners where "supervised by military personnel to extract precious minerals from Nchiyamengian soil, and so set about paying back their debt to the motherland they had so vilely betrayed". He further confirmed that the attack had been orchestrated by the communist rebel group, the Watu wa Mapinduzi cha Ukombozi wa (WMU) / Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL) / People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (PRLF).

Portavoz Nacional Kampiya went on to say that the attack had been foiled by the brave soldiers of the Republic, and that over 500 "communist terrorists" had been killed and that the "traitors they were trying to rescue where killed by their own panicked gunfire". He further went on to say that, unfortunately, 64 "brave and patriotic soldiers and guards loyal to the Republic were killed in this treacherous ambush and the ensuing firefight". He stated further that the armed forces had committed themselves to "redoubling there efforts to hunting down these cowardly terrorist traitors and avenging their fallen brave brothers".

He stated further that the Minister of Defence and Minister of Police would likely be available for further comment at a later time, and that he was unavailable for further comments at this time.

From a rebel base somewhere in the mountains of Nchiyamengi, General Antonio Hlayambinda, leader of the Watu wa Mapinduzi cha Ukombozi wa (WMU) / Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL) / People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (PRLF), has delivered a message on a rebel controlled underground network. In the radio address Hlayambinda addressed what he called the "lies and propaganda being spread by the Kampiya regime". Hlayambinda stated that he had received confirmation from his commanders in the field that all the political prisoners the group had been aiming to recover.

These included, according to the broadcast, retired army General turned activist Diego Mantsana, retired intelligence officer turned activist Eduardo Sankanyampiya, retired army engineer turned activist Roberto Kamyapari, former prison warden turned activist Guillermo Herrero, trade union leader Isaac Mandapyari, civil rights lawyer and activist Alicia Pebani, poet and activist Jeremías Tsuga, artist and activist Azadikana Tusamayopi, saxophone player and activist Adán Banyarikana, actress and activist Sara Yamapika, former Liberal Democratic Party politician turned activist Catalina Dampakanyika, Reverend and activist Pedro Musambanyanda, Imam and activist Abbas Tusani, University politics professor and activist Kanya Mazaro, University history professor and activist Sampikyo Tanzamyari, university student leader and activist Lelayara Makipiya, struggle veteran and activist Azankaro Pankamyina, reporter María Yanzari, reporter Juana Panadero, reporter Miguel Bakayampiya and traditional leader and activist Dazambanyi Kuzampaya.

The broadcast also stated that only 6 brave freedom fighters had been killed in the firefight, not the over 500 the "lying Unión Patriótica fascists". Hlayambinda also the broadcast by stating that this was only the beginning, and that he would not rest until the Kampiya regime was overthrown, the people of the nation were freed, justice was served and the African proletariat rose to their rightful place of power. He ended the broadcast with the old revolutionary line "la lucha continúa", "the Struggle Continues", a line taken from the FRELIMO communist rebels turned ruling party of Mozambique.

Overnight, around midnight:

A coal power plant in Mwinukomwamba Province was sabotaged, throwing large parts of the capital city of Puertazul into darkness.

Several key bridges were blown up across the nation.

A Njengi village loyal to the ruling Unión Patriótica in Mitiyakijani province was raided, the villagers driven out and the village buildings burnt to the ground.

There are also reports coming in now of a army convoy having been ambushed in Mwambaomawimbi Province in a densely wooded area.

All of the attacks are being blamed on the Watu wa Mapinduzi cha Ukombozi wa (WMU) / Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL) / People's Revolutionary Liberation Front (PRLF), which orchestrated the attack on the political prisoner labour camp yesterday.

As a result, Presidente Marcos Kampiya has today declared a state of emergency, and has further implemented martial law in all 9 Provinces of the Republic. The Army have been brought in and have legal authority to "shoot to kill", military law will apply for all crimes and a national curfew has been set between the hours of 8pm and 6am during which times no citizen is allowed on the streets without a special pass.

Líder de la Oposición Rosa Tampiyawende, leader of the only significant legal opposition party, the Kiliberali Kidemokrasia Chama (KKC) / Partido Liberal Democrático (PLD) / Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), has given an address on Libertad Noticias, the only legal tv network only marginally tied to the government, in which she called for Presidente Marcos Kampiya to call off the state of emergency and martial law, to unban the Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL), to also unban the pro-LGBT and leftist protest movement the Maendeleo Msoshalisti Chama (MMC) / Partido Socialista Progresista (PSP) / Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) and the Islamist rebel group the Kiislamu Msoshalisti Harakati (KMH) / Movimiento Socialista Islámica (MSI) / Islamic Socialist Movement (ISM), and to then resign.

She has called for all sides to immediately cease hostilities and to enter peace talks, aimed toward creating a "true representative democracy in Nchiyamengi".

Presidente Marcos Kampiya has responded to Líder de la Oposición Rosa Tampiyawende, stating that he will not submit to her "undemocratic demands", that "Nchiyamengi does not negotiate with terrorists", and that the armed forces of Nchiyamengi will "seek out and destroy all those who violently oppose democracy and the rule of law".

The Partido Liberal Democrático (PLD) leadership have declared their intent to send their party leader, Líder de la Oposición Rosa Tampiyawende, along with a small delegation of other party leaders, to the Minsk conference to establish cooperation towards democracy in Nchiyamengi.

Catalina Dumisende, leader of the Partido Socialista Progresista (PSP), is in hiding in an unknown location and has stated that she cannot risk attending the conference in the current political climate, but she and her party leader leadership have authorised struggle veteran and activist Isabel Kantayapi, poet and activist Yamdina Malapiyo and politics professor Pedro Ganza to attend the conference on the party's behalf. The three party members fled the country years ago at various stages, with all three finding shelter in Zaxumadi, and have all agreed to attend.

The Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL) have announced their intent to send the parties senior foreign envoy, Miguel Tapyaro, along with his team. Tapyaro and the entire team are currently based in Cuba, as part of the old alliance between the party and the Castro regime in Cuba.

The Movimiento Socialista Islámica (MSI) has announced there intent to send Imam Muhammad Amzani, Imam Ehsan Bakpanyani and Imam Saafir Kaladi, all Imam's loyal to the MSI in exile in Sudan, to represent the party at the Minsk conference.

In regard to the 100 000 dollars worth of humanitarian aid:

Image

To the honourable Marshal President Neboysha Galich

We, the government of the Republic of Nchiyamengi, would happy allow your generous donation of humanitarian aid enter this country. As local policy dictates, such funds would them be transferred through the Ministry of Interior, through the Ministry of Finance over to the Ministry of Religion to be distributed through the church to needy causes throughout the nation. We trust the local reverends and priests associated with the Ministry of Religion to know how best to spend the funds for the good of their local communities. The needy citizens of Nchiyamengi will be internally grateful to you for your donations.

We thank you once again and look forward to working with you in the future.

Presidente Cristina Xhonda has reaffirmed the trade sanctions against the Republic of Nchiyamengi and the advisory against travel to the Republic, although it has now increased the travel advisory to "Advise against all non-vital travel" given the intensification of the civil war there.

Presidente Cristina Xhonda has expressed her ongoing support for Catalina Dumisende and the Partido Socialista Progresista (PSP), and hopes that the part can achieve its aims.

The ruling party, the Movimiento por la Independencia, Libertad y la Igualdad (MILI), have thrown their full support behind the PSP, as have the small opposition party the Partido Popular y Socialista (PPS).

The Official Opposition parties, the Partido por la Libertad (PL) and the minor coalition partner the Partido Moderado (PM), have also supported a peaceful resolution to the situation, but find more in common with the Partido Liberal Democrático (PLD).

The opposition party the Frente Patriótico Nacional (FPN) have expressed opposition to what they call "rampant terrorism in the Republic of Nchiyamengi" and openly support the ruling Unión Patriótica (UP).

The FPN's close ally, the Partido Patriótico de Guinea Lyserio (PPGL), also support the UP, but find even more in common with the UPartido Conservador de África Oriental Lyserio (PCAOL), who they support even more fully.

The far left Marxistas Africanos para la Igualdad en Zaxumadi (MAIZ) have expressed their support for the Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL) and encourage them to carry on in their mission and to establish a true Communist state where the African proletariat was truly empowered.

The small Alianza Socialista Islámica (ASI) expressed support for the Movimiento Socialista Islámica (MSI), and wished them luck in overthrowing the Kampiya regime establishing an Islamic democracy.

He vows to help keep stability in the Republic of Nchiyamengi by supporting the Kampiya regime while demanding more be done to aid and protect the white and Lyserian minority populations of the nation, particularly farmers amongst these groups.

The Movimiento Socialista Islámica (MSI) has claimed responsibility for the military attack on the military base. They claim to have pulled off a very successful attack and seized a cache of weapons before escaping back into the jungles.

The Kampiya regime by comparison has insisted the attack was a complete failure and that the MSI "terroristic traitors" had "failed utterly in their mission" and that over 1000 of them had been killed in the crossfire, and that no weapons had been stolen by the terrorists before the "cowards fled back into the jungles".

General Antonio Hlayambinda, leader of the Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL) has thanked the PRHS for their support in helping them defeat the "tyrannical Kampiya regime". The medical supplies and military advisors will have to be smuggled in due to Kampiya regime viewing the FPRL as a terrorist group and as traitors.

There are significant issues with corruption in the Republic, especially due to the high levels of poverty and lack of political freedom. As such there is a significant black market through which medical supplies could be smuggled in and military advisors sneaked in. Given the Civil War the military will probably be on high alert looking for opposition forces and weapons trying to be smuggled in or out.

A railway between Ciudadelapalma and Mjiwadhahabu has been blown up and the train convoy transporting ammo and weapons was attacked by guerrilla forces. Initial reports suggest the attack was carried out by the Frente Pueblo Revolucionario Liberación (FPRL).

The PRHS condemns both the Kampiya Regime and the Islamic insurgents. The Leader of the Opposition Gyeong Baek has criticised participation in the war, saying "When will the government stop going on bloody African adventures?"
Meanwhile, Ezonese military advisers claim to have trained 300 FPRL rebels.

As they are not capable of defeating even primitives like the MSI, we withdraw diplomatic recognition from the Kampiya regime. We recognize the FPRL as the official government and are willing to offer weapons and financial assistance if they promise to crush the MSI once Kampiya is overthrown.

Our state, the League of the Six Free Peoples, is actually controlled by a cartel of neckbeards known as La Cosa Fedora. Members of the cartel are known as Honorable Gentlesirs. Citizens who are not members are known as normies.

Our armed forces are armies of the radicalized romanceless.

Do you fear us yet? If not, have some anti-neckbeard propaganda!
