Biography:

"As the fire fades, the world is thrown into darkness.
Countless Kingdoms rise and fall, reborn from the ashes.
In the transitory lands of yore, from the legends of the linking of the fire.
A new tradition is created, to combat the fading light, Lords of Cinder are made manifest.

Through this sacrifice, an end to the accursed undead, and the prolonging of the age of fire is sought.
A great Church is founded upon the graves of the fallen, foundations built upon three essential pillars.
For as the scales of the fabled dragon give it eternal life, so shall great souls bequeath eternal light.
And thus, an Everlasting Kingdom is born to preserve the flame."

Since the dawn of the age of fire, many kingdoms have risen and fallen, but it is only the most powerful of which manage, and survive to the present day. Since the age of the Old Gods, the kingdom of Astora has remained a beacon of light of which the world sings to, for it is a land known for its brave knights, skilled craftsmen, and overall beauty. The knights of Astora have been the protectors of the Fire since its foundation. Astora has persevered event he darkest of trials, and is the home of many legends, including Saint Sophia.

Within the present, at the dawn of the Church, the city of Aulfurth was created by Vormanic tribes, who in their loyalty to Astora in a great war, were granted the foundations of a city close to the fabled city of Gods. Today, Aulfurth finds itself within a nexus of roads, leading towards the holy city of Irithyll, to the capital of Courland, and most importantly, towards Anor Ostrum. Aulfurth has a long legacy, and perhaps its greatest legacy so far, is being the birth place of our current Pontiff.

Born in Aulfurth, during the first day of the new year, Hywel Godwyne was raised in a small noble family with deep ties to the Church, perhaps it was no question then, that he would find himself within monasteries, learning deeply from the monks within, and becoming religiously enlightened. From early on, Godwyne was given great insight of the world, and was taught many great things that would benefit him to this day. Godwyne soon took upon his lessons and entered in service of the Church.

Godwyne was most noble in his duties, and through his actions, attained great praise within the Church, it was no wonder than that because of his humble nature and strong passion, he was recognized as a potential candidate for the title of Pontiff upon the death of Pontiff Lorenz VIX. Godwyne would prove to be the correct candidate, and was made Pontiff on the day of the Ceremony of fire, in which he withstood the burning of the fire with little show of agony. Since he took office as the Pontiff, Godwyne took upon the title of the wise, for he was truly knowing in the ways of the world and beyond, and his humility gave him great insight into dealing with poor and impoverished.
