The golden edition of the WorldVision Song Contest was finally beginning. The arena was packed, and the technicians were running final checks to make sure everything will go smoothly. Performers took their places. A person walked up to the orchestra pit, raised his baton, and lead the orchestra through a quick rendition of the theme of RTVK. This was it. The broadcast had begun.

It started by giving a recap of where the contest had gone since it was last held in Kalosia, and its journey back to the island nation (up to 1:12 in this video, but probably more refined ICly). And then it moved on right away to the opening act.

Opening Act
Who Will Get 12 Points? - Ruslan Ǧamal
to the tune of Mozart's House - Clean Bandit ft Love Ssega

This song was specifically commissioned for the 50th WorldVision Song Contest, with clues being dropped by having Ǧamal as the spokesperson announcing the Kalosian votes at WV49, wishing viewers "see you at the next show in Kalosia". While it was easy to assume he meant the World Hit Festival, it was clear now that he actually meant WV50.

So, as first sounds of the song are heard, the camera pans the stage from a distance. And after a few moments, it switches to a close up of someone's mouth, presumably Ruslan's. A mic is visible near the mouth. And it opens to speak.

So you think WorldVision is boring?
You think… it’s cliché?
You think it’s sophisticated?
Well, it is sophisticated

Those 3 words were crowdsourced through a a contest held by RTVK. A woman from Polkopia as well as two Kalosians had their submissions make their way into the song, and as a result they won tickets to the contest.
A second mic is directed toward the mouth.
Who will get 12 points?

The second mic is taken away, and the mouth grins while what it just said was repeated, presumably by a machine or something.
(Who will get 12 points?)
(Who will get 12 points?)

Then it explains while the previous phrase was still being repeated.
We use special tricks, with a computer
(Who will get 12 points?)

The camera then changes to a view of the conductor's podium as the string instrumental part kicks in. A title card introduces Eldin Sakranova, the host conductor for the show.
At the end of this part, the camera shows in full Ruslan Ǧamal, the singer, and it follows him from the front as he circles the stage. He's wearing something like this (minus the shades and the bag).
Who will get 12 points?
Ekoz on the stage but the best one wins
I said, who will get 12 points?
The Britonish songs have got quite the beat
I said, who will get 12 points?
Could it be Electrum but they’re reigning champs
I said, who will get 12 points?
Powerhouse is Polkopia
I said, who will get 12 points?
Kishrael or N and P
Cheongji or Talvezout
Still Izmedu’s trying
And Adab and Praciba
Kwadai and Kalosia
Oh, so much

As another violin instrumental is played, the camera pans on the audience, who are jumping along to the song. Then it goes back to Ruslan, who makes his way through the catwalk.
To the left, to the right
The nations come around, the people unite
I said, mmm, to the left to the right
Artists get on stage and get under the spotlight
I said, mmm, to the left to the right
The cameras surround us, keeps us in the world’s sight
I said, to the left to the right
Millions of eyes, they watch their screens showing us
Anticipating rock, disco or jazz
Those who like classical, or even pop
This show is for you, enjoy it
Song Contest: WorldVision!

The camera pans across the orchestra pit as they play part of a rendition of a famous classical piece. The beat kicks in, and the camera then moves to Ruslan who was just making his way back to the main stage from the catwalk. As he does the next part he moves towards the back of the stage.
Speakers blaring, pizzicato
Relax the tempo, try some rubato
And if we get too animato
Stuff our ears with adagietto
A niente, mezzoforte
Allegro or andante
I can make this voice staccato
And it makes it all legato

Ruslan sharply turns around and moves toward the front of the stage.
Who will get 12 points?
Come place your bets, the stakes are high
The stage is open, the music’s live
It’s the best place to be alive
Come and show the world what you have to offer
Go sing your best, a true show-stopper
Without a doubt, the songs are fine, the dances great
Here come the entrants, getting prepared

Couple of upbeats, a couple of ballads, oh
It’s the WorldVision Song Contest
Couple of upbeats, a couple of ballads, oh
Couple of upbeats, a couple of ballads, oh
Couple of upbeats, a couple of ballads, oh
This is WorldVision

The background screen shows footage from the beginning of this very entry (i.e. the close up of the mouth) and a voice (presumably a recording of Ruslan's voice at the beginning of this song) is heard saying the next part.
(So you think WorldVision is boring?)
(You think… it’s cliché?)
(You think it’s sophisticated?)
(Well, it is sophisticated)

[hosts intervention to be completed]

Let the 50th WorldVision Song Contest begin!

01. Polkopia
Miha O. - Sing To Me
Language: English/Polkopian

Mihael Ostropovnik, otherwise known by his stage name, Miha O., is a locally known artist within Polkopia, who has released a few songs to the general public, but never found his breakthrough. That was until the Landa vy Polkopiya, however, which served as Polkopia's National Final for the Worldvision Song Contest. For Miha, this was a huge turnaround in his career. After winning the domestic televote and the vote from international and domestic juries, Miha O won the right to represent the Allied States of Polkopia in the 50th Worldvision Song Contest with his song, Sing To Me. Once the song was released, it instantly became an online hit, racking up millions of views in a matter of hours, and it soon climbed into the charts. The song's popularity grew even more once it won the Landa vy Polkopiya, peaking into the Top 10 in Polkopian charts. Now Miha had to prove himself to be worthy of the fame and success that he had accumulated over the past few months. Now was his moment.

Miha O. was on stage now, the lights were off, as the song hadn't started playing yet, but he was ready. There were two male backup singers located in the very back of the stage, standing behind microphone stands. Miha was in the center of the stage, holding a microphone to his mouth. His hair was spiked up, and maintained his normal, messy style. He wore white jeans with a blue button-down shirt, where the shirt was only buttoned 3/5 of the way up, partially revealing his chest. He wore a gold chain with an Orthodox cross a the end, but the cross itself was tucked in an inner pocket in his shirt. He always carried that necklace around, as he was a fairly devout individual, but was very modest about his faith, and thus chose to keep it semi-hidden. The chain was still visible for the most part.

Once the music started, Miha raised his eyes from the ground out toward the audience and the camera and flashed a toothy grin that seemed almost natural. He looked around him quick and his backup dancers walked beside him, all smiling. The stage floor was dimly lit in a golden color, while the background showed a geometric pattern consisting of various colors, slowly moving around the screen. Miha slowly walked forward while singing the first couple of verses.

Mila is a term of endearment in Polkopian, similar to 'baby' in English, but with a more romantic approach to it.

Sugar, your voice is as sweet as sugar
When you speak to me
When you speak to me

I know I'll be falling for you
Every night and day
Every night and day

Miha and his background dancers all paused and shouted "Hey!" before the bridge. The background screen also showed the word "Hey" in big black letters for that second, and it left as soon as it came. During the bridge, the dancers separated themselves a few feet from each other and did their own little dance. For example, one girl kicked one leg up in the air, threw her hands up, and rounded it off with a split, while a male backup dancer next to her jumped, spun around, and did a series of intense arm movements while rapidly moving his legs in a kicking motion. These four dancers somehow managed to move along to the beat though.

You are my whole world
You are my sunshine, hey-oh. Oh, oh.

Yo si yash kashdiy' svet (You are my whole world)
Yo si yash solntse luna.. Ey oh. (You are my sunshine)

Before the chorus, the lights turned off completely, except for the back screen, which lit up in tune with the beat. The left side lit up in bright gold color, followed by a segment bordering it, and on and on until the entire screen was filled and the chorus began. The dancers jumped and waved their right arm in the air while Miha sang the first line, and then proceeded do a series of kicks, reach-arounds, and drops, all in-sync with each other and the beat.

Mila, come with me
Sing to me all day and
Sing to me all night and then

Mila stay with me-me-me
Come and love me and
Come let me love you and

Say hey-oh, say hey-oh-oh
Say oh oh
Say woah-oh-oh-oh

Mila sing to me
Sing to me all day and
Sing to me all the night.

The dancers all stood in center stage, taking turns dancing with one another, still smiling and having a good time on stage while Miha walked forward while singing, before standing on the edge of the stage, pointing to members of the audience as he did so.

Angel, your voice sounds like an angel
So sweet and pure
Oh it's you I'm sure.

I know, I never want to end this
Let us never leave
We don't have to leave

The 'Hey' returned, and left as soon as it came, and Miha quickly walked around the perimeter of the stage pointing to the audience as he sang.

You are my whole world
You are my sunshine, hey-oh. Oh, oh.

Yo si yash kashdiy' svet (You are my whole world)
Yo si yash solntse luna.. Ey oh. (You are my sunshine)

The lights never dimmed, but instead, intensified with the beat, and a short burst of fireworks sputtered out from the edge of the stage as the chorus began.

Mila, come with me
Sing to me all day and
Sing to me all night and then

Mila stay with me-me-me
Come and love me and
Come let me love you and

Say hey-oh, say hey-oh-oh
Say oh oh
Say woah-oh-oh-oh

Mila sing to me
Sing to me all day and
Sing to me all the night.

Now, Miha walked along the catwalk of the stage, a natural smile still evident in his face as he did so. He occasionally sang too, but continued to walk. As he shouted 'Hey' into the microphone over and over again, the dancers would all jump and raise their hands up in the air at the same time, and encouraged the audience to do the same.

I just want you to sing to me now... Hey!

I just want you to sing to me now... Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!

Miha was now at the very end of the catwalk and the lights dimmed, and the camera zoomed in on his face. He closed his eyes and sang the next few lines rather softly.

Mila, come with me
Sing to me all day and
Sing to me all night and then

Mila stay with me-me-me
Come and love me and
Come let me love you and... Woah!

At the last note, the lights came back on again and the fireworks returned, but this time, they remained, spurting golden embers into the air. The background dancers all ran onto the catwalk smiling and waving at members of the audience, still moving with the rhythm.

Mila, come with me
Sing to me all day and
Sing to me all night and then

Mila stay with me-me-me
Come and love me and
Come let me love you and

Say hey-oh, say hey-oh-oh
Say oh oh
Say woah-oh-oh-oh

Mila sing to me
Sing to me all day and
Sing to me all the night.

After the last note, the dancers were all around him, and they all stopped in their tracks, and smiled. After the initial pause they all waved to the cameras and audience members around them. Some of the dancers even hugged too. "Thank you Kalosia! We love you!" Miha shouted into the microphone.

02 - TALVEZOUT
Lorenzo - Prayer
Melody is Marina & The Diamonds' "Immortal"

Image

Lorenzo would be standing onstage, shrouded by various scrims and hanging clothes around her. She is wearing a white robe, with it terminating at the floor. Her face is shadowed by said robe, and the scrims and screen behind her is lit up in various muted reds and whites. The floor would be coated with smoke and fog, making the whole scene seem blurry and almost dream-like.

Heaven only knows my words
Sounds I’ve made so many times
Heaven only knows my thoughts
Stuck between these hidden lines

As she would move on singing, she would remove the hood covering her head, revealing her face; a spotlight would shine upon her at the same time, illuminating Lorenzo as she sang. The muted reds and whites would fade out into black, leaving Lorenzo alone amidst the darkness.

Heaven only knows my words
Words I’ve prayed so many times
Just in hope for something better
To avoid the time that I die

While the song would be building up to the chorus, the reds and whites would return, and would start flashing near the end of the verse; cracks would start appearing in the red and white screens, multiplying by the end of the verse. She would unbutton her robe but would have it on, gently billowing about in the breeze generated by the wind machine. At the go part, the camera would be cutting to different parts of her body as she outstretched her arms, with a spotlight behind her illuminating her figure through the robe.

I want to pray for something better
Just something to pass the time
I want to live my life, without a single goodbye
I want to meet someone
I don’t want to die
Everyday feels the same
Just wanna stay and just want to go
(Go, go, go, go, go)

Lorenzo would throw off the robe, revealing herself to be wearing rather plain dark blue suit jacket and pants. As she was throwing off the robe, fire would shoot suddenly around her as the chorus began; after the fire dissipated, holograms and projections of various decaying and damaged old films and pictures would be shown on the screens and scrims; one of these, a film of Lorenzo singing this song, would be projected onto Lorenzo's suit.

Heaven only knows my prayer
Words I’ve uttered so many times, times
The angels only know my heart
They only know my loves, my lives
And even if you’re gone
And you don’t return till the end of time
You’ll be in my prayer
Just my love and my whole world
I’ll remember you until I die

The films would all seemingly burn away to reveal a low poly version of Lorenzo singing the song; this version of Lorenzo would gradually turn older as the post-chorus was sung. This low-poly Lorenzo would fade out after this part of the song.

Forgotten words and times, times
Of a love between you and me, ours and mine

Lorenzo would remove the microphone and would start walking forwards; standing at the front of the stage, she would pull out a seeming to withered flower; however, as she sang and as she held it in her hands, it would regain its green and would start blooming. Lorenzo would then crush it in her hand and it would burst into fire; she would throw the burning flower onto the stage at the end of this verse, with fire erupting all around her. A video of blooming, fiery flowers would be shown in the various scrims and screens, with it burning out and fading away.

It’s only like, as almost if
The best things die too soon
But it’s almost if we could
We can't but we would
I want to only remember you
But your memory slips away
I only want to love you
But I forget you day by day

A minimalist rendition of a person would appear in the main screen behind Lorenzo; it would start copying her moves, as she would be holding out her hands and her arms as she sang. The microphone would be back in the stand, but it would be removed once more as she would transition into the chorus, with the person behind her falling apart into millions of red and white particles, with them being blowed about onscreen.

I want to relive those times, just you and me
Just to feel something special, a dying memory
I want to love you, in the very real tense

The fire would come back for the chorus, with the various scrims and screens now showing fire.

The angels only know my prayer
To escape this almost fading bloom
The heavens only know my sorrow
Just to think of this solitary doom
I just want you to stay alive
To live and to grow and to die
You seemingly slip through time
I only slip away and I only cry
I’ll meet you at the end of life

But as my world fades to white
Your world only passes into the night

Lorenzo would start walking onto the longer catwalk, still singing; this part would be more minimalist, without any projections or fire.

Lord help me to be real, be alive
Just to help to live my life, life, life
I just want to you in passing
Don’t want to be haunted until I die, die

Lorenzo would now be at the end of the catwalk; an image of a blooming, fiery flower would be projected on her, with going from a red, bright bud to a withered, dark shell. The screens would now transition into the same reds and whites from earlier, with the same cracking animation at the end of this part.

Just all the stupid things I’ve done
All these things I’ve done for you
I just want to remember you but I can’t, why, why, why
(Oh why, why)

The low poly versions of Lorenzo would be back and would be singing along with her. They too, would wither away into a million particles at the end of the verse, revealing the dark screens once more.

Heaven only knows my mind
Trying to futilely remember you, only you
If I could only love you forever
Then I would do it until I die, die
And even if go to the depths
And even if you go to the sky
I hope you only remember my prayer
My prayer to remember you till the end of time

But I can’t and I don’t, why, why
You’ve passed away like a ship in the night

The decaying old films and videos would be back, with two scrims behind Lorenzo showing the same footage of her singing from earlier. They would be singing with her on the closing part of the song, even as the film they were on would start burning away. As they were done burning away, the lights would all cut out, with a red spotlight illuminating Lorenzo's silhouette from behind.

Keep me in your mind
Keep me in your mind
Keep me in your mind, mind

As the song was done, Lorenzo would yell out "Thank you Kalosia! Thank you guys so much!" and would get off stage.

Live Coverage of the 50th WorldVision Song Contest in Kasin, Kalosia with Daniel Richards and Alex Petrov

  • Daniel Richards WorldVision Enthusiast, Radio Host and Television Personality.
  • Alex Petrov Brito-Arioslavian, judge on X Factor: Britonisea, To be co-host of Mehlodhifehstivalhen and Mehlodhivestoile.

Alex: Hello, and Welcome to the WorldVision Song Contest in Kasin, Kalosia.
Daniel: It's only 7 editions since we were last in Kalosia, and so, they're doing an Ekoz. I'm not too enthusiastic about being in Kalosia, to be honest.
Alex: Why's this?
Daniel: Well, I have been in Kalosia for a while, now. After the World Hit Festival, I was forced to stay in Kalosia because BVC called me up to say "Kalosia is to host the WV Song Contest," I just wanted to get out of Rushmore! It was Electrum, straight to Kalosia, straight to Kalosia!
Alex: Well, straight after this contest, I don't think there will be another Rushmore WorldVision Song Contest or World Hit Festival, so you can return to Ultimaverse.
Daniel: Let's speak about the bidding process. So, Kalosia won with quite the margin. It's quite unbelievable, to be honest. And then, Polkopia came second and Todlichebujoku came third?
Alex: Yeah, there is some obvious vote fixing involved. I believe, Britonisea should've placed 3rd, at least.
Daniel: We placed 5th which was quite disappointing, and a total waste of money. Junterapten and Fredegate were so enthusiastic about hosting the competition and, after the great bidding process - it failed to impress.
Alex: According to some sources from other nations, it was based on how messy the bid was - and how confusing it was. But, let's not dwell to much on it.
Daniel: Some delegations say that we should rebid with the same bid, honey, ain't nobody got time for that, thanks. Why would we send a bid that's the same? Surely, Todlichebujoku could just bid and win in Aoritechesk.
Alex: Au-
Daniel: I don't care.

Alex: Is the World really live a celebration? I don't think so. You've got racism, sexism, slavery and other atrocities, I don't think we are living the celebration. What do you think?
Daniel: I am not too keen on this hype of the WorldVision 50, anymore. Thought it was going to be held in Junterapten but nope.
Alex: To be honest, there were a lot of controversies surrounding our bid - we're just too out there for them.
Daniel: Anyway, who is going to get the 12 points? Not Kalosia for this opening. This is just a rip off of Conseolta's song - and to be honest, that song is better than this.
Alex: Hm, well I don't like this at all. The song is horrific and I'm totally not digging in to this. For a nation who has hosted 3 times before, this is unacceptable.
Daniel: Ugh, let's just move on before I get more angry than I am. Polkopia is up though.

01. Polkopia

Daniel: I am getting a bit tired of Polkopia, if I am being honest. It's the same songs all the time.
Alex: I quite liked it, it is nice and happy, and it really, really, makes up for the bad start.
Daniel: I agree, but it's Polkopia. This would probably give them the win - what? The 7th?
Alex: I do wish that other nations would send this instead.
Daniel: Next up is Talvezout, who seem to have hosted more times than us, after our first hosting in Quickenden

02. Talvezout

Alex: Don't worry hunnies, we got Izmedu back after that tiebreak in WV38!
Daniel: Yeah, anyway, this song is nothing special.
Alex: No, it isn't.
Daniel: Regardless, I am voting for them because Talvezout are cute.

03. Darkmania

Daniel: She angry as hell!
Alex: SLAY. 12 points.
Daniel: It's us next.

4. Britonisea

Alex: Tess loves to make magic in the commentary box, however, her talent lies on stage.
Daniel: Yes. This is a solid entry by Britonisea, and by Tess Phillipa. Since The Sarian, World Hit Festival 25, Tess Phillipa has improved her lyrics and her stage presence, and I think, if anything, this should get in to the top 5.
Alex: I am not sure what the voters would be thinking if this song didn't get in the top 5, and I'd be deeply disappointed.
Daniel: Nevertheless, she should do well tonight. If she doesn't, I don't think I'd like to watch this again. Last time we were in Polkopia we achieved a top 5, let's do that again!

05. Cosneolta

Daniel: Is that supposed to be Mini Surrey-North's "afro?" Oh my gosh!
Alex: Wow, this song is great! This is great!
Daniel: I love this song, I'm not even lying, and this could win, tonight.
Alex: If this song doesn't do well, I'm not sure what will. It's comedy, truthful and the singing is great!
Daniel: So far, my favourite tonight.
Alex: Mine too! How exciting was that! Up next is Kishrael!
Daniel: I feel sorry for this nation, they've lost their groove. It will nearly be 20 editions since they last won!

06. Kishrael

Alex: And people say that Britonish lyrics make no sense...?
Daniel: I hope you recorded that song, because it's banned in Britonisea.
Alex: Why?
Daniel: Because of the following lyrics...

  • So I saw that you changed your Whatsapp pic?
So you're online? You were online...

    A bit stalkerish, to me.

    One two three, fuck it
    One two three, fuck it
    One two three, fuck it

    Why is she unnecessarily swearing?

Because you get dirty with them bitches
With that bitch, with that bitch, with that with that bitch, with that bitch

Is she speaking about a dog? If so, it's illegal to have sex with a dog, and this promotes that.

    Five six seven, ahhh
    Five six seven, ahhh
    Five six seven, ahhh
Lying in a pool of my own blood

It sounds like she's making 18+ sounds. Plus, she's lying in a pool of her own blood...is she dizzy? She needs to go to hospital. Also, this promotes violence at pool parties, and having sex in the pool too.

Alex: Interesting, but I liked the song.
Daniel: Oh yeah! I love it, vote for Kishrael.

07. Mister X

Alex: Hm, well...
Daniel: He's so handsome, it's like he tugged my heartstrings!
Alex: Says the Mister X hater.
Daniel: Well, this is quite the improvement. Sure, it's not the best tonight, but it should place them at least 13th place...
Alex: Hmmm. Well, it's too outdated for my liking.

08. Normandy and Picardy
Alex: YES! THIS IS GOOD! SO GOOD! FAVOURITE SO FAR!
Daniel: They're Britonisea haters.
Alex: Well, I'm only half Britonish, so this song is good!
Daniel: No, the song is great! Just putting it out there, my opinion. I love the song, it's an improvement to their previous songs...
Alex: Next up is Hirvania...

09. Hirvania

Daniel: Right, okay then.
Alex: I am not too interested in rap.
Daniel: I know, It's quite sad but, Britonisea isn't a rap-nation. And so, I don't see this getting any points from Britonisea.
Alex: Yup, besides the language barrier, I don't have anything else to say about this song. It's alright.
Daniel: I agree. Next up is Ekoz!

10. Ekoz

Alex: Hm, I'm not really sure I like this or not.
Daniel: As one of the region's major music exporters, I don't think that Ekoz lived up to that.
Alex: Ekozian songs do exceptionally well in Britonisea, there's always an Ekozian song up in the top 10 in Britonisea. But, I don't see this entering the top 50.
Daniel: It's quite plain, I'm not sure about this song. As always, the lyrics and staging is great - it's the song they need to work on.
Alex: I am really looking forward to seeing a return of their national final...Hopefully, it will start producing more acceptable winning entries.

11. Kannap

Alex: This song is just funny! This reminds me of a trip I took to Streymoy!
Daniel: Why?
Alex: I can just imagine those guys on the side of street with those hats, and attracting an audience.
Daniel: This is quite a sad song, actually.
Alex: Really? This is a blast!
Daniel: You bad man.

12. Elejamie

Daniel: God, Elejamie men are so out of my league. They're not hot enough for me.
Alex: *Chuckles* Well, Daniel. It's all about the personality, wouldn't you agree?
Daniel: No.
Alex: Anyway, there's about 20 different lyrics in the song - get's a bit boring. Lol.
Daniel: No, it seems like they're supposed to say something but it gets cut off.

13. Estogium

Alex: Now. Through my earpiece, I've been hearing that a lot of these commentators are comparing this song to Britonisea; and apparently Estogium wins.
Daniel: You know why they're saying this? It's because of Justin Lit! IT'S JUSTIN'S FAULT!
Alex: What do you mean? You're scaring me...
Daniel: Remember, in WorldVision 33, Justin Lit send "Away from Britonisea" which actually isn't correct. Estogium were never apart of Britonisea, just to let you know, but rather the Grand British Kingdom - which dissolved ages ago. Estogium can't physically get away from Britonisea because Estogium has it's borders with Britonisea to the East, and over the waters, with Arioslavia. So, unfortunately, it doesn't work like that.
Alex: Alright. Well, let's move on to South Bourbonstan, then?

14. South Bourbonstan

Daniel: We got a mention! That's all I liked about the song, really.
Alex: A bit cringey - it was fine though.
Daniel: Hm, I don't even know. Next up is Izmedu, lol. The ones who try too hard to win.
Alex: Mhm

15. Izmedu

Alex: Regularly, we give them points...however...this time...I don't think we are.
Daniel: I didn't really like it, to be honest. I love the lyrics and staging, but like Ekoz, the song...ugh.
Alex: I agree, let's talk about World Hit Festival instead.
Daniel: Yes! Very intense, but it seemed that more people voted for Britonisea - which was nice.
Alex: I have to congratulate Mini Surrey North - a lot!
Daniel: She's back next edition, and you, Alex, get to commentate the World Hit Festival!
Alex: Fun.
Daniel: Alinghi Fed Dem Rep is up next, are they gonna send a song as great as their entry a couple of editions ago?

16. Alinghi Fed Dem Rep

Daniel: YAS! LOVE LOVE LOVE! OMG!
Alex: This is actually, the best song tonight. Not the best lyrics or staging...But it is the WorldVision Song Contest after all.
Daniel: Damn, this is my jam! Loved it!
Alex: Urgh, so damn good.
Daniel: Up next is The Sarian, who lost their mojo after they won.

17. The Sarian

Alex: Fairly standard, I don't know.
Daniel: Yeah, I don't feel anything by this song - but...
Alex: It's alright, isn't it?
Daniel: Hm, trying to decide whether I like it or nah?
Alex: Me too...Hm...Next are the hosts, Kalosia.

18. Kalosia

Daniel: How does these old songs win for Kalosia, yet updated ones do shite for them?
Alex: Not sure, you know. This song was up against Britonisea's song by Tess Phillipa, so it's expected that Kalosia would do better than Britonisea. Will that happen?
Daniel: Well, let's gather everything together...Commentators prefer Estogium over Britonisea, Kalosia is hosting - host's advantage...I can see this song doing better than the Britonish song.
Alex: Damn, you're right!
Daniel: Let's swiftly move on, Mercedini is next!

19. Mercedini

Alex: What do you think?
Daniel: The four boys on the left are hawt. Other than that, I'm a Cheongji-fan. Mercedini doesn't match up to Cheongji, in my opinion.
Alex: Yeah, I see. But, actually, I quite like this entry by Mercedini. I can see a 7 going their way. Get it? 7Seas, 7 *Laughs*
Daniel: No. Next up is Kwadai, that nation full of brown haired, tanned skin beauties.
Alex: Saucy.

20. Kwadai

Daniel: Nah, Nah. Sorry, no.
Alex: No. I agree, I don't really like the song. Something about it peeves me off.
Daniel: No, I agree with you! I love Kwadai, but not this time.
Alex: Let's just move on, I'm sorry Kwadai, Gurori is act 21.

21. Gurori

Daniel: I don't like songs that sound like sonic music, and I still don't. They're cute, I'll give them that. So innocent.
Alex: When the music keeps on playing...
Daniel: Hahaa, next up is, Qasden. I love this country, hopefully they can gimme something tasty.

22. Qasden

XX

23. Antahbrantahstan

XX

24. Todlichebujoku

Alex: Why are they sending a woman? I'm not being sexist, but ToBu is known for their men.
Daniel: No, I understand what you're saying. Todlichebujoku needs to give me men.
Alex: Anyway, this woman is alright. Nothing special, really.
Daniel: Two countries I trust for male singers, ToBu and Ekoz. However, I'd only date an Ekozian man, because they're regional mates...and they're a bit, okay...a lot, more ethnically diverse. I love Ekoz. Reminds me of Britonisea...which I haven't been to in ages. I also noticed, congrats, Alex! You get to go back to Britonisea to commentate for the World Hit Festival, while I have to go to Polkopia, to commentate on this WorldVision 50 event for Estogium.
Alex: Yeah. Thanks. Up next is Electrum!
Daniel: Who, since I criticised their obviously sexist song a few editions ago, stopped giving us 12, 10 and 8!

25. Electrum

Daniel: Ha, someone doesn't want to win. Richochet of bullets? Britonisea used that. But, we dodged it, they stood it.
Alex: And who survived?
Daniel: Not the one who stood up to the bullets, without wearing a bullet proof jacket.
Alex: Next is EDO. Gertrude fresh from Aeropag after losing to the Britonish. Maybe thats why Electrum has a thing against us. Because we are better than them in table tennis, and we knew this before the Olympics had already started.

26. Electrum Dip Offices

Alex: No. She should stick to improving her table tennis skills! Hahahahah.
Daniel: yep. I hated the song.
Alex: West Phoenicia is next.

27. West Phoenicia

Alex: No.
Daniel: No. Nasty segregation.
Alex: Bloodbath Generation is next.

28. Bloodbath Generation

XX

29. Adab

Daniel: Wow, is it just me...or...is...Kinan hot?
Alex: You've been with him too much! He performs all the time, it's twisting your mind!
Daniel: I know, but he is a bit hot.
Alex: Back on the song, I like it. Top 3, for me.
Daniel: Obviously, I think Adab deserves much more than what the nations give it. Come on Adab!
Alex: Next is Cheongji, the baes.

30. Cheongji

Alex: It's alright, I guess. Expected a bit more sass...but okay.
Daniel: Me too, I expected more colours, too. Well, we can't get what we want in life.
Alex: I'd like to see sparkles next edition though.
Daniel: Yes, please!

31. Ethane

TBA

Alex: Oh my gosh! It's my country next! Arioslavia! I'm so excited! They better have something good!!!!

32. Arioslavia

33. Oqmet

04 | Britonisea | "Overtaking (Before I Fall)" Tess Phillipa

Postby Britonisea » Tue Aug 16, 2016 12:32 am

#4 BRITONISEA
Tess Phillipa - "Overtaking (Before I Fall)"
Tune : Iveta Mukuchyan - "LoveWave"
Image
Writers: Tess Phillipa, John Irivine
Music: Tess Phillipa, Matt Baker, Jacob Kryce, Talking Chew

Britonisea will be sending Tess Phillipa to the World Hit Festival, where she will be singing the song "Overtaking (Help Me)" which is an alternative song, a song that doesn't necessarily fit in to any category of music. Tess Phillipa sent the song "A man who pushed me down the stairs" in Lyonsland and if you want to listen to that, This is her performance in Lyonsland, WorldVision 32. WorldVision 32 was such a long way away, though she has been present on the big stage and she was hosting the competition - of which gained spectacular views from countries around the world.

One of her best friends, Mya Richardson won in that contest and came 5th in Polkopia a few editions before. Mya has always teased about Tess Phillipa doing worse than her, and she stated that if she won the World Hit Festival, she'd have something to be proud for. Then, she stated, if she won she would host the contest in a heartbeat. And, if she hosted, the contest would up a bit in the amount of interaction with the audience and the people at home. Tess Phillipa hopes she can end the long painful places that Britonisea gets in the World Hit Festival to make it a powerful nation equaling the success as in WorldVision.

She decided to represent Britonisea after hearing that the previous singer was stepping down from representing the contest after BVC "gave her a lot of money to sabotage the contest." However, BVC firmly denied the statements saying that this is "An inhuman attack on an innocent come-together." Tess Phillipa decided to end all of the debate on who was going to represent the country when she announced she will be singing a new song from her upcoming album. The statement that Tess, a national treasure, was going to represent Britonisea came with it's ups and down. She was also sad that companions Estogium and Nightom won't be there to help her succeed.

The song "Overtaking" was written by herself when she broke up with her partner - the one who stayed with her after she received physical abuse from her neighbour when he pushed her down the stairs for no reason at all. "Overtaking" is her anger and her sadness fighting in her inner emotions. She doesn't know where she should feel sad or feel anger or even, something else. She states that "Overtaking" doesn't necessarily mean it's her anger overtaking or it's her sadness, but it is how the audience perceives it. She developed the song with music producer Takkin Chew, who is a famous writer who wrote Abanta Fonely's "A Step at A time" which was a really successful song in Estogium and Britonisea - to name a few countries.

On her way to The Sarian, Gorgona, she realised that she was missing out on a lot of things and that made her want to come back to the international stage - whether that is just touring countries of her choice or coming back to major song contests. She was happy to represent her country in World Hit and hopes she can succeed in it. However, when she went on the World Hit Festival stage, and the voting came, the typical biased against Britonisea started again, and this was evident. In the 26th World Hit Festival, she managed to only bag 15 points and end up in 5th place (which was out of 8th) and she did not sit with that too well. Despite receiving top marks from the eventual winners, Kalosia, and top marks from Darkmania - it seemed as though the amount of points Britonisea did get wasn't enough for winning standard.

After this event, it lead too the BVC withdrawing from the World Hit Festival and the cause remains unknown. IGBK - a Broadcaster within the former Grand British Kingdom colonies - took the rights to participate in the contest. She expressed on social media that she deserved a bit more from the voters - especially as she put so much effort in to the contest for nothing.

Fabbio McAlpine, the new Head of Delegation, revealed some harsh new rules yesterday and she reacted to it, "That World Hit is a hostile environment, and I'm not sure whether it's a great idea to get artists going there and then here. I'm not too sure yet. We will see...But I agree with anything else he says" she said in a magazine article. "I'm just going to meet my girl Rigas Jengiz because we're both in Kalosia so why the hell not...?"

It's Tess Phillipa singing "Overtaking"

She was wearing this dress, quite the contrast for what her song is about. The stage was dark and the audience was pitch black with no light being shone on them. You could here a pin being dropped in that arena. Suddenly, someone came walking from the farthest point in the stage. A spotlight was following her as she walked on and each time she walked, a side of the stage would flash a fuzzy colour, similar to the ones that you would see on an old television when the channel doesn't work. She was still quite far away from the front of the stage but you could see that she raised her hand, of which her microphone was in it, to her mouth and began - not to sing - to talk.

Talking;

Come, with me.
Right, I'm going on a trip, away from here.
Away from the lights, sleepless nights - from busy life.
I need to release because....

She was in the middle of the stage and she stopped walking, The stage's fuzzy image that was being shown was becoming more apparent, and quicker paced. The camera would focus on the fuzzy image before spanning back to her every time she sang the end of her line. A drop of red splashed on to the stage, and it seemed as if the splash was getting bigger on the floor. The camera looked down on to the floor before slowly coming up her leg - which she was showing off like a pro. She began to sing her song.

Alone at night, I look to the sky.
And the stars has abandoned it.
People locked out humanity,
And they're cold outside without any keys...

As she finished singing this part, she started walking towards the camera, which was in the audience. She was quite cold and still and she didn't really react with any of the people in the arena. The red was now all over the stage instead of the floor and on the LED screen, you could see that there was a march of people coming towards her - coming to get her. Coming for her. She didn't look back though, she wasn't even going to dare to look back. The fan machines turned on flourishing her beautiful dress in the wind.

Echoing;

Help, Me, Help Me, Help, Me, Help, Me

During this part, the stage went crazy. The red flashed with the colour blue every second or so. From the top of the stage, flames appeared lighting up the top tier of the arena while in the bottom tier, there was sparklers being set off over the audience standing up. It looked as if she, Tess, turned a red colour. The camera was going just as crazy as the stage. The camera would change it's viewing angle every time you heard the beat - coming inwards, outwards, sideways and from the top. The camera would also rock, making it seem like (for the viewers at home) that she was experiencing some kind of earthquake. Suddenly, a massive row of light zoomed through the arena from the bottom right up to the top and stopped when there was a loud bang. She shouted...in tune,

Before I fall, catch me...
Run! If you don't run you can watch melt to the floor-oh-or
Move! The campaign is beginning - the gash still raw-aw-aw.
Tick-Tock! Our time is limited, clutch me hard and hold me near.
It's overtaking.
Nothing seen, nor nothing heard - it's breath taking.

She walked to the side of the stage where she was greeted by a man only wearing trousers (and probably boxers under, though we're not quite sure at this point) and when she went to the man, he turned her around making Tess turn the other way where she was only met by another man in the middle of the stage. The camera followed Tess and her dress like a cat following an unraveling ball of yarn. The crowd couldn't get enough of it. A strong woman was coming out of her! Something we haven't seen in Tess before.

A Silent Killer, it is. With a spy's anonymity.
I got to go through extermination, before it corrupts my sanity.
I get away armored in lead and steel, I thought that it would protect me
I put my foot on acceleration
Close my eyes and I'm off course...
It's overtaking!

Tess whipped her hair from side to side, causing the shirtless men to fall on to the ground. She then walked over the men and on to the little catwalk. The LED behind was of a Gothic house on the top of a dark and creepy hill. Plus, it was raining. Suddenly, blue spot lights were on her and 4 of them in a row behind of her while the rest of the stage was dark.

In the final part of the song, the men appeared behind Tess Phillipa and as they were about to grab her, the stage suddenly turned dark, so you couldn't see anything. The audience cheered knowing that this was the end of the song. "Thanks, everyone" Tess Phillipa screamed in to the microphone. "Thanks so much!" As she walked off the stage with the two men following her behind, she thought she did well. Hopefully she will live up to expectation.

Danny DingDong - Are You Ready For WorldVision?
Tune: X-Factor - Proud Mary

Danny DingDong stands in the middle of the stage in blackness with only him being illuminated on the stage. He pains a sad face in order to get sympathy votes from other countries as he sings the song. While singing, he spots a couple of his fans and chooses to wave at them, causing him to stop singing (because he can't multitask). He restarts at the end of the verse.

I wrote a good song for WorldVision.
(Kasin)
Working very hard every night and day
And I put a load of blood, sweat and tears.
Now I'm singing it ... in this big country.

Some scantily clad bikini babes walk onto the stage and accompany him. He begins to sway his hips as he sings the lyrics. The bikini babes sway their hips as they add their vocals to the performances. The babes sing the last line before everything starts to get crazy.

Ekoz keeps top-tenning
And Polkopia keeps on winning.
Are you ready? (ooo) ready? (ooo) ready for WorldVision?
WorldVision!

The beat kicks in and all of the performers on stage begin to dance, with plenty of spinning and pelvic thrusts occurring, sparks fly from the stage as the screen shows past moments of previous WVs. Danny goes behind the curtain and comes out wearing a sloppy remake of Mini Surrey-North's afro, while the bikini babes bring out different coloured trumpets (an homage to Polkopia's 'Not Me'). Danny moves to the front of the stage to sing the second verse.

Some of these songs are pretty shitty
But some of these are actually pretty good
National Finals can be pretty boring
Who even votes in those shows, anyway?

Danny begins to march on the spot while the bikini baes throw their trumpets to one side and join him. The camera shows a group of Cosneoltan fans, who are going ballistic, crying and fanning their faces all at the same time. The screen begins to show moment from more recent WVs, as Danny waves to the audience to keep get up of their arses and boogie.

Hosters keep on hosting
Puppets they keep on joking
Ready? (ready) Ready? (ready) Ready for WorldVision?
Ready? (ready) Ready? (ready) Ready for WorldVision?

As they sing the 'toots' the run across the stage with high-knees in time with the lyrics, Danny takes his afro off and tosses it into the crowd, then he does the can-can. The camera zooms from the back of the stage to the front to show the fans waving their flags frantically in time with the beat.

Do-Do-Toot-Toot-Toot
Toot-Toot-Toot-Toot
Toot-Toot-Toot-Toot

One of the bikini babes step forward to sing her big note. Before retreating back into the crowd of performers who are still high-knees-ing their way across the stage.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeey!

The performers then form a conga line around the stage with Danny at the front, who is doing the train action to the camera as they zip round the stage. The camera goes back to the Cosneoltan fans and it shows that half of them have already fainted, the rest have drenched faces from all of the tears they are shedding. The camera moves back on stage to follow the conga line, Danny sings his lyrics as he sings into the camera.

I've seen a lot of things in WorldVision
Like Normandy & Picardy, who always send women.
Kinan al-Salmaan keeps singing for Adab
Does that guy even know when to quit?

Danny breaks the conga line and then moves to the front of the stage, the bikini babes move parallel with him at the front and independently dance and clap to the beat of the song. Danny begins to pelvic thrust while pointing into the camera (obviously causing several piles of vomit to appear on floors across the multi-verse).

Rick Leg keeps on singing
Oh, Talvezout keeps on firsting.
You ready? Ready? You Ready for WorldVision?
Are you ready? You ready? Ready for WorldVision?

The group of performers begin to 'high-knees' their way across the stage once again. The screen now begins to show all of the flags that have participated in WorldVision in the past 50 editions. Danny stands in the centre of the stage while the bikini babes circle him (which is perfectly caught by the overhead camera).

Do-Do-Toot-Toot-Toot
Toot-Toot-Toot-Toot
Toot-Toot-Toot-Toot

Danny gives the opportunity to some of the bikini babes to sing, as the each take turns to stand as the front of the stage and sing their part of the song. Strobing begins from the stage, with a curtain of sparks beginning from the back of the stage. Some of the bikini babes that aren't singing have let off a bunch of flairs and are waving them. More pelvic thrusting occurs before the final note of the song.

Ready, Ready, Ready for WorldVision?
I said Are you ready? (ready) Ready? (ready) Ready for WorldVision?
Yeah, WOO!

As all of the performers sing the final note together. Fireworks, sparks and fire all fly from the stage with the lights strobing so much that they would give a normal person epilepsy.

Yeah!!!

The screen at the back shows the WorldVision logo. Danny roots in his pocket and tosses a handful of gold confetti and lets it fall on him. The performers hug each other 'Thank You Kalosia, Are You Ready For WorldVision!!!!!!'. The camera shoots to the group of Cosneoltan fans, who are all being treated by paramedics after they all fainted at the sight of them seeing their favourite Cosneoltan singer. The group of performers walk off stage before transitioning to the next singer

06. Kishrael - קשראל
Luna Shaldit - 1,2,3
לונה שלדית - 3,2,1

Language: English, Hebrew

To the Tune Of - Delia - 1234 (Unde dragoste nu e)

In a break from convention, the KBA has cancelled the planned Kdam-WorldVision for the 50th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest, citing 'mediocre results in recent years' and 'a lack of faith in the voting system from the public'. Instead an internal selection has taken place for the contest, with singer Luna Shaldit being the one chosen. Some eagle eyed fans will remember Luna as one of the main contenders in the Kdam-WorldVision of 41, which was later cancelled due to Kishrael's non-participation. Some may question Kishrael's choice this edition, Luna and her song have been described as somewhat whacky and crazy a wild break from convention in the history of Kishraeli entries. Many would expect Kishrael to send a serious entry to WorldVision 50 in aims to bring the crown home once again after seventeen editions out of the spotlight, alas this alternative approach may work, as the current Kishraeli formula has not provided a top 5 result since WorldVision legend Tabitha Shamaimah got second place ten edition.

Hailing from the party city of Akrabutir, Luna Shaldit, now aged 29 is a singer known on the local city circuit performing in a number of the most popular clubs in Akrabutir. This has at times allowed her music to creep into the charts, receiving minor success for some club bangers in the past. Furthermore her previous Kdam song reached #20 in Kishrael so she is not completely unknown. Seeing this as a good career move, Luna is hopeful of reviving of Kishrael's fortunes in the WorldVision after a string of bad results 'I cannot wait, this is the biggest party in the world and I'm honoured to be there at such a crucial anniversary. I want to do Kishrael proud on the world stage and show them that we've still got it!'. On her detractors, Luna had this to say 'People will say things about everyone, maybe some people wanted a big ballad about hope and peace is what some people wanted, but that's not what Kishrael is about! We're fun and I think we might have lost that, hopefully I can turn these haters into my biggest fans haha'. Luna's song currently sits at #9 in the Kishraeli charts, but with it's worldwide release and greater publications on her participation it is expected to rise higher.

The stage is completely dark - the crowd is murmuring due to the long time it has taken to set up for the Kishraeli act. As the music starts and the backing track plays the muffled version of the chorus. The lights then begin flashing a dull pink. The camera focuses in on Luna's frontal upper body and will remain so throughout the performance.

(And when the DJ plays my song, I forget everything in this world
And the spectre standing there, he helps me escape my problems)

As the main part of the song begins the lights become brighter upon Luna, and on the first line the pink lights shine bright obscuring Luna from view. She strikes a pose while singing, brushing her hand against her head, with her other hand on her hip (she has a head-microphone thing on). After this she starts marching forward, she is shown to be wearing this. Walking from the back of the stage she walks under trees with cherry blossoms on, petals fall in front of the camera, creating a beautiful effect. There is a path created, with it being lined with single cherry blossoms either side.

You’ve disappeared now once again
Heard nothing from you for three days
Don’t worry I’ll be okay
I’ll hit him up, hit him up, hit him up
Get on the beak, on the beak, on the beak

At this point four dancers in similar clothing jump out from the cherry blossoms, and start dancing in time with Luna, originally doing a huge squat and circling their backsides. They then move their elbow back rapidly again and again while shaking their hips while continuing to march forward.

My friends don’t even like you anyway, anyway
So I’m gonna’ go out with them and dance all this pain away
Anyway, anyway
I know a guy who can sort me over tonight anyway

As the chorus begins, more dancers pop out throwing balloons and confetti onto the path, the dancers and Luna look like they're having a good time as they dance. The bright pink lights start pulsing again in time with the music.

And when the DJ plays this song of mine, Christina getting dirty on the floor
Now I'm dancing on the tables but I don't care
And when the DJ plays this song of mine, I forget everything in this world
And the spectre standing there, he helps me escape my problems that you have caused
Everything that you have caused

As the beat drops the stage goes dark and bright pink flash lights from the floor strike out everywhere across the stage. Luna and her dancers jumpsuits begin shining in the dark, neon letters on their bums saying 'ass' and 'money maker' on each cheek. They turn their backs and begin to drop it low, throwing it in a circle etc. Generally dancing with their bums.

One two three, fuck it
One two three, fuck it
One two three, fuck it
I've got an app on my phone that can fix this mess
Five six seven, ahhh
Five six seven, ahhh
Five six seven, ahhh
Shaking my ass like I need my rent

As the lights come on the stage colour is more softer, and the trees are now full of green leaves, perhaps representing summer, as opposed to spring in the previous cycle. She changes direction as the she veers to the left and the camera does a 360 around her.

Looks like I'm drunk once again
And my face is full of fiery rage
Because you get dirty with them bitches
With that bitch, with that bitch, with that with that bitch, with that bitch

She ducks suddenly, and when she reappears she's wearing sunglasses and the top half of her jumpsuit is replaced with an orange ribbed crop-top and continues marching, before stopping and dancing with her dancers again.

So I saw that you changed your Whatsapp pic?
So you're online? You were online...
But baby you ain't texting me
So you're online? You were online...
But baby I told you I was going to bed so what's the deal?

As she sings this part she runs forward, reaching the edge of this line of the catwalk. The camera begins circling her as her dancers create an atmosphere around her during the chorus. She is looking up at a big white spotlight and facing out to the crowd.

And when the DJ plays this song of mine, Robin S can show me true love
Now I'm dancing on the tables but I don't care
And when the DJ plays this song of mine, I forget everything in this world
And the spectre standing there, he helps me escape my problems that you have caused
Everything that you have caused

The stage once again goes dark as the beat drops. Luna is completely removed from the screen as her dancers are joined by more and dance in a line, doing similar movements as previous. As she pops up back in Hebrew the lights come on, bathed in white, the trees are bare and it appears that snow is falling in front of the camera. She is wearing purple sunglasses and a pure white coat with a large collar.

One two three, fuck it
One two three, fuck it
One two three, fuck it
You never had a bed that didn't break
Five six seven, ahhh
Five six seven, ahhh
Five six seven, ahhh
Vacancy at this empty king size

Echad, shteyim, shalosh, zubi (One two three fuck it)
Echad, shteyim, shalosh, zubi (One two three fuck it)
Echad, shteyim, shalosh, zubi (One two three fuck it)
Ani m'nasah lo samti al zeh zayin (I'm trying not to give a fuck)
Echad, shteyim, shalosh, zubi (One two three fuck it)
Echad, shteyim, shalosh, zubi (One two three fuck it)
Echad, shteyim, shalosh, zubi (One two three fuck it)
Ani m'nasah lo samti al zeh zayin (I'm trying not to give a fuck)

She then changes direction as she walks to the other end of the runway, and instead of dramatic dancing which has happened before, she casually sings the rest of the song, without dancers and making simple hand signals. At the very end of the song she lies down and the camera adopts an aerial view. She takes her glasses off and winks to end.

One two three, fuck it
One two three, fuck it
One two three, fuck it
So this is where this fairytale ends
Five six seven, ahhh
Five six seven, ahhh
Five six seven, ahhh
Lying in a pool of my own blood

Luna gets up and shouts 'Thank you, Gretsi!" Her dancers run up either side, and they hold hands and bow, before jogging off the stage.

07 MISTER X

Filius Deorum - "I Just Can't Live Without You"
Tune: Spandau Ballet - "True"
.

Image

To represent Mister X in the illustrious 50th edition would be a great honour for the lucky artist chosen. However, luck simply was not good enough an explanation for Filius Deorum. Having initially intended to enter this song last edition, a bust-up with his lyric writer caused it to be pushed back to this edition. Filius is probably Mister X's most famous singer, having began his career in WorldVision 30 with his bestiality-inspired song, he stormed back to take 3rd in WorldVision 33, still Mister X's highest ever placing. This song was a change of tempo from Mister X. Somewhat naively, MRX Television thought that they could enter any generic uptempo song and it would do well. But after several years without a top ten placing, they all agreed that something must be done. This song therefore was deliberately picked to be downtempo and soft, and Filius hoped that he could tug on the heartstrings of the world as he sung it.

As the music began, Filius walked onto the stage, in one spotlight, slowly, disconsolately, with his head down. He was wearing a black suit with a white shirt, with its top button undone, and an undone bow tie. It was almost as though he had just lost something. Or someone. Filius got to the middle of the stage by the time the drumbeat kicked in. The lights slowly faded up on the back of the stage, showing a 40-strong male voice choir.

(Ba, ba-ba, bah, ba)
(Ba, ba-ba, bah, ba)

Filius looked up and began to sing. He was still clearly in some discomfort, but save for the 40-strong male voice choir, he was in the middle of the stage. On his own. Alone. And that feeling was reflected in his tone of voice, for Filius really was singing almost mournfully.

Can't you, though it must feel,
Almost as though you never liked me, dear.
Head over heels and deep in love,
This is the sound of my heart
This is the sound...
I feel it racing for your blood,
But now I'm being left behind
You've got to know that I just cannot move on,
'Cause all I want is you to be safe...

From the right-hand side, two people came onto the stage and started dancing a rumba.

(Ba, ba-ba, bah, ba)
I just can't live without you...
(Ba, ba-ba, bah, ba)
I just can't live without you...

The lights dim down for one second to pitch black during the slight break in the music. But they come back on almost immediately.

Hear the beat of my heart,
Pounding through all of my soul,
It's all that I would want to know
Listening tomorrow or all night long
This is the sound of my heart,
This is the sound...
'Cause I am racing for your blood,
But left behind once again,
You've got to know that I just cannot move on,
'Cause all I want is you to be safe...

(Ba, ba-ba, bah, ba)
I just can't live without you...
(Ba, ba-ba, bah, ba)
I just can't live without you...

During the instrumental break, Filius moves to the back of the stage and the rumba dancers take centre stage, engaging in some incredible lifts and steps that would embarrass even the world's best dancers. As Filius starts singing again, he walks, with his head now higher up, from the back of the stage towards the front.

Yes, I am racing for your blood,

Everything and everyone stops, except for Filius and freezes exactly where they are.

I'm left behind once again,

On the three chords there are three bursts of light and after the third burst of light everyone resumes what they are doing.

You've got to know that I just cannot move on,
'Cause all I want is you to be safe...

The lights go off momentarily as they did before. They just hold off for a little bit longer this time around. Some people think it's the end of the song. But no - the lights slowly fade back on as the choir start up their section again.

(Ba, ba-ba, bah, ba)
I just can't live without you...
(Ba, ba-ba, bah, ba)
I just can't live without you...

The rumba takes centre stage again as Filius moves behind it.

Live without you!

Filius Deorum then takes centre stage once more.

(Can't live without you)
(Can't live without you)

I just, I just, I just can't live without you,
(Can't live without you)
(Can't live without you)
(Can't live without you)
(Can't live without you)

I just can't live without you!
(Can't live without you)
(Can't live without you...)

The lights slowly fade away as the song finishes with a fade.

8 - Normandy and Picardy
Sophie Belevre - Dawn
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHzu69V8Z14

When NNN were deciding on their entry for WV50, they decided to choose something different to everything they had sent before. They decided to turn to the superstars of Normand music who could almost be guaranteed to give a good performance and song, and they wanted someone who reflected the music scene of Normandy and Picardy and which everyone could get behind. Some say that NNN had always planned to send Sophie Belevre to the contest, with some even suggesting the song has been in the pipelines since WorldVision 46, but however long this song has been in the offing (NNN refuse to say anything on the matter), NNN seem quietly optimistic about their hopes, with hints of a belief of success filling the announcement given by the head of the WorldVision office Martin Oskbale, and amongst the general public there is a feeling of hope and the same belief shared by the broadcaster. The song has already reached Number 1 in the Normand Music Charts, become the fastest selling single in Normand history, which is remarkable when you consider songs by titans of Normand music like The Subtle Swords (Who gave Normandy and Picardy their first Top 10 placing, finishing 7th in WV36) and Anima (who are competing at WHF26), but Belevre herself is well known, which may prompt the huge support for her entry. And with such funding put into the song, who knows how much will be spent on promotion and staging as well. The song itself is rather simple in its premise; it recounts the story of a young, socially awkward girl as she gets dragged into Normand club culture, and loving her fears and inhibitions, yet also becoming aware that she is losing her personality to drinking and partying.

Sophie Belevre, 32 was born in Caen, the capital of Normandy and Picardy, into a musical family; her father was a pianist and her mother a singer. She was always around music, herself taking both singing lessons and learning the piano, although she was always better at the singing. Despite her classical training, Sophie's music is very 'modern' (for Normandy and Picardy) and is on the cusp of Normand music. Sophie was offered a scholarship at the College of Music in Cherbourg, but refused so she could pursue a career in Law. However, after she studied Law she was discovered by producer Martin Gessaçe, and has since made millions and had many successful albums. She is a fan of the contest; when interviewed about WorldVision last year she said, "I'd love to go...It's the biggest party in the multiverse, and I'd be performing at it!"

The stage is dark as the final preparations are made and Sophie composes herself and begins to sing as the audience wait in anticipation. As the postcard ends and the song begins, a mixture of red and white lights fade on. The cameras focus on the background, which shows a neon sign, saying "Sophie". The cameras change angle, beginning to turn to look downwards until, as the singing begins, we see Sophie on top of what appears to be a large record player, spinning around with it. The camera comes down to the front of the stage, and Sophie stands in the centre of the 'record player', which unlike the rest of it doesn't move (realistic, I know). As she sings the first verse, the lights keep slightly fading. There are also long neon stick lights that are stuck randomly around the stage that appear to float, and fade between red and white throughout the verse, but from one angle, which the camera shows, they seem to form a 'frame' around Sophie, although this effect lasts very briefly. The camera shots vary, but most are even from the front or a slight angles, showing different parts of the stage.

Let me sit and wait a while
Looking up at velvet skies
I can't tell the time at all
But I'm just having fun

Lying prostrate on the floor
Tracing lovehearts with our fingers on our bones
Fighting troubles with only our thoughts
Oh I fear love, fear love

Sophie jumps onto the spinning section of the 'record player', which moves slowly around, and the camera follows her around as she does this. The lights continue fading, but become more red as they do so. As she sings "into the dawn", the neon lights becomes white, to contrast with the red.

The silence tries to comfort me
But I'm walking to the sound
A drumbeat hypnotising me
As I walk over the edge, into the dawn
Into the dawn

As the second verse begins, Sophie has returned to the centre of the 'record player', but now two dancers are spinning around on the outside, lying on their sides and holding vogue-esque (ie. the Madonna song) positions, and by the end of the verse are both looking and pointing to Sophie. The main lights have stopped fading on and off as they were in the first verse, and the neon lights have settled for red with a slight white highlight. Once again there are several different camera angles employed, showing Sophie and the dancers.

I think I know what's right
But I'm not too sure what I think is wrong
Warning lights and false alarms, my life
I feel cold, feel cold

My mouth is speaking on its own
Leading me into the great unknown
Even though I know it's wrong I carry on
Oh I fear love, fear love

The dancers jump off the record player as the chorus begins as the camera begins to zoom in on Sophie. After she sings " into the dawn" for the first time, the camera screen 'cracks' and then we see the two dancers, holding sledgehammers on the 'record player', which has stopped spinning. Sophie holds her hand to her mouth, feigning shock, before breaking into dance with the two dancers (at this point, the camera screen has returned to normal)

The silence tries to comfort me
But I'm walking to the sound
A drumbeat hypnotising me
As I walk over the edge, into the dawn
Into the dawn

As the bridge begins, the neon 'Sophie' sign begins flashing, whilst the rest of the lights fade down. The central bit of the 'record player' is now spinning, with Sophie laying on it looking up, a shot which the cameras show as she sings the second line.

I don't want to stop now, I don't want to stop now
Please don't make me stop now, please don't make me slow down

There's a sudden increase in the brightness of the lights as the final chorus begins, and Sophie is now up again, or rather two Sophies (one is a hologram). They dance along with the dancers, and two other dancers have joined them to work with the doubling effect. As the song ends, the too run backwards and the hologram seems to run into Sophie, who then 'falls' down onto the floor, and begins spinning round again. The cameras fade out.

The silence tries to comfort me
But I'm walking to the sound
A drumbeat hypnotising me
As I walk over the edge, into the dawn
Into the dawn
Into the dawn
Into the dawn
Into the dawn

09 Image Hirvania
MC Raka-U Rane Frishno
Language: Hirvanian
Genre: Rap/Hip Hop

As the first participation of Hirvania in the WorldVision Song Contest; and being the 50th anniversary of the contest; Hirvania decided to send one of its best musicians, the famous rapper known as MC Raka. Raka are the first two letters of his name and his surname: Rami Karamavi. MC Raka started rapping at a very young age when he saw his older brother and his friends, who made rap battles and freestyle rap. He was interested in making songs that made him, and the people who listened to it, feel something deep. Most of his songs talk about how people get to overcome very difficult life situations, work for their dreams and feel their value as a person. This song, called U Rane Frishno(You are capable), is a very good example of it. He put so much effort and love in this song, and he thinks that singing it in WorldVision is the best award for his hard work.

MC Raka goes up on the stage, a bit nervous, but confident of himself. He takes the microphone and makes a signal to the DJ meaning "everything ok". The beat starts playing and MC Raka leaves a few seconds before starting with the song. He takes a deep breath and begins

Totti dola jei merova
Jei viure na shinko nartrim
Jei plure se nil be nu kroni mova
Stino ne hotor wardo bshena sa jem latim

He looks to the ground with a sad face and continues singing.

Jei viure na masta, jei viure ter confrasta,
Jei viure slar ter frani luka an trasta
Marista mlakai, likro jendrai
Jei slume ne shontiro slar ter interrai

Then, he looks at the audience and smiles. He puts a serious face again and tries to make the people see the strength he is feeling inside of him at this moment.

Jei dlue shtu mai streino
Slar mestino fra cambino
Sle jei deklede tru flani sle clantino

MC Raka puts a happy face and starts animating the audience while he starts to sing the next part of his song

Yo, U rane lan masta slar crenemai
U rane chalane ney salo totti propai
U rane kroni, u malene totti sino
Ro, u fro lenot nes demoni interro
Slar flani pluro slar u ne frishno kana

He jumps off the stage and goes into the crowd, very happily walking through them while he sings the last part of the song

Mile prota ei turo nasta
U la rane nu slar u rane nu slar ei rane la nu slar flasta
Ne lenine masta slar dlue u ne frishno kana
Ro, lenine u stane nicas u rane na rus namane

After finnishing the song, MC Raka goes back to the stage. He said: "Thank you everybody for listening to my song. I hope it made you feel the same way it made me feel while writing it. I am very proud of my work and I am very happy to represent my country, Hirvania, in this amazing contest, hosted by the city of Kasin. Thank you very much!"

Everyday I wake up
I see the beautiful morning
I think this will be a big day
But the horrible world shows that I was wrong

I see the people, I see their conformism
I see that their sad look on the floor
Head down, Cold heart
I feel the pain in their interior

I said to myself
This situation needs a change
So, I decided to make this song

You are one person that matters
You are capable of doing all you pretend
You are big, you deserve all things
But, you need to expel the demons inside of you
That make you think you can’t do anything

Stand strong and stay like that
you were like that, you are like that and you’ll be like that forever
Don’t listen to the people that say you can’t do nothing
But, listen to yourself because you are the real importance

10 | Ekoese: Viktor Antonsson - Pull Through

Postby Ekoz » Tue Aug 16, 2016 9:07 am

Viktor Antonsson, 23, from the outskirts of Carnise is a rising star within Ekoz, and was internally selected by the national Ekozian broadcaster, STE, to represent the country in the 50th edition of the WorldVision Song Contest in Kasin, Kalosia. Antonsson has been responsible for three top five hits on the Ekoesestoplistann this year, including his own sleeper-hit "Dansa vør mig". He represents the country with his mid-tempo dance hit "Pull Through". Antonsson is the third consecutive internal selection by the STE, which has seen the country maintain it's top 10 placing since the country's debut at the 32nd edition of the contest.

Antonsson describes the song as "a fearless hit-back to all the doubters and haters that I had. I was never the coolest kid in school, I never had the coolest friends or the 'new' things that everyone else had. I struggled, and this song is reflection of how hard work and resiliance against the 'bullies' or doubters can pay off. I'm a pure example of that. It's just about never changing who you are and remaining strong in the face of weakness. I hope the audience connects with that..."

Antonsson performs tenth at the contest in Kasin.

Viktor stands centre stage. He stands in the centre of two outwardly diagonal LED screens that meet in the middle, see here for examples. Viktor is wearing a white shirt, white fitted trousers and has bare feet. The floor on the LED 'box' has a treadmill-quality, which will be utilised within the performance. As the introduction visuals fade, Viktor looks to the floor and gets into a crouched position. He then looks up to the audience and begins to sing. He his holding his hand out towards to camera lens. The two LED screens project the bottom of a a mountain.. The LED screens also project a shadow of Viktor, which moves coherently as to when Viktor moves on stage. Fog is also visible on the floor of the stage adding to the effect of a cold, wintery crisp morning.

They say destiny, say it's written in the stars but I don't wanna know,
Don't believe it's so,
Oh I believe, that the doubt of those above will only help you grow,
Only help you grow,

The LED screen shows ariel shots of the mountain and the camera pans back onto Viktor. He is seen rising from his crouched position and stands with his feet apart. On each line, he turns from side to side, with his arms reaching out in a grasping position. As he does this, the camera pans in onto the grasped hands with the view of the cold mountain on the LED screens.

One day, for me it will all change,
Worthless, I will never remain,
I'll be re-defined, be re-defined.

I'll prove to you that it's my time,
The ladders I'll begin to climb,
Prove the doubters wrong, I will rise,

As Viktor begins to sing the chorus, the LED background begins to move and begins to show an ascent up onto the mountain. The LED projects a slight tilt symbolising the lower/bottom/beginning part of the mountain. The treadmill-esque floor begins to move slowly. Viktor begins to walk and soon jog.

I will rise up, na na na,
Won't ever give up, na na na
I will pull through, I will pull through...

Weather the storm, na na na,
I'll be reborn, na na na,
I will pull through, I will pull through...

As the beat drops, Viktor starts to run on the treadmill-esque stage floor. The LED screen moves to the speed of Viktos run. The lighting of the stage shows that only Viktor and the LED screen are visible. Throughout the instrumental break, the camera also pans around to the audience before zooming and returning back to the stage and Viktor. As the second verse begins, the LED screen, whilst still on the ascent of the mountain, shows a different climate as heavy snow beings to appear on the mountain. This, then, is replicated on stage, where heavy snow/wind falls onto the stage and onto Viktor and is visible through his hair and clothing. The treadmill-floor still moves as Viktor stops running and beings to walk. The camera show Viktor moving around his arms to make it through the heavy snowfall. He looks visually strained and begins to sing.

Believed in a dream, but the weight of all the doubts grew ever stronger now,
like a power house,
I won't take defeat, persevering through the strain like a wild animal, in a thunderstorm.

Viktor beings to job as the pre-chorus begins. He looks determined and begins to sing. The heavy snowfall still falls as well as the wind. The LED screen projects a white covered mountain, as to which by this point is half way up the mountain.

One day, for me it will all change,
Worthless, I will never remain,
I'll be re-defined, be re-defined.

I'll prove to you that it's my time,
The ladders I'll begin to climb,
Prove the doubters wrong, I will rise,

As the chorus begins to start, Viktor begins to fastly-run whilst singing. The camera zooms in onto Viktor's face. He is seen to be tiring yet determined. As he sings "I will pull through", he shows a visual strain on his face but continues to sing. The 'weather' on stage appears to be getting worse, with the wind picking up and almost blowing Viktor off his position.

I will rise up, na na na,
Won't ever give up, na na na
I will pull through, I will pull through...

Weather the storm, na na na,
I'll be reborn, na na na,
I will pull through, I will pull through...

As the instrumental drop begins again, a blizzard-like state is visible on stage. Viktor is almost completely unvisible to the audience within the snow-storm. At slight glances, Viktor is still seen to be running.

I'll be re-defined, I'll be re-defined, yeah
I'll be re-defined, I'll be re-defined, yeah
Oooohh.
I'll be re-defined, I'll be re-defined, yeah
I'll be re-defined, I'll be re-defined, yeah
Yeaah, yeaaah.

The LED screens project that the journey up the mountain has almost finished with views of sea-level being far away. The blizzards appear to soften and Viktor becomes visible to the audience and the camera lens. The winds begin to stop and Viktor beings to slow down. As he begins the final chorus, he is static on the stage. The stage floor is covered with snow and fog begins to appear. Viktors hair and clothing looks disheveled and visibly worn/torn. On the final line of "I will pull through", the LED screens show the peak of the mountain, see here.. Viktor raises his hand in a fist position to the roof of the stadium. The LED shadow of Viktor duplicates his actions.

I will rise up, na na na,
Won't ever give up, na na na
I will pull through, I will pull through...

Weather the storm, na na na,
I'll be reborn, na na na,
I will pull through, I will pull through...

Viktor smiles at the camera. He is visibly panting and then crouches to the floor before looking and standing back up. He mouths "Thank-you" to the audience and the camera lens before kissing his hands and blowing them to the audience. He waves also. The camera pans to Ekozian fans with Ekozian flags. The stage then darkens for the next performer.

#11 Kannap
Jasmina Brighton - "The Borders of Kannap"

Tune: Simon and Garfunkel - The Sounds of Silence

This is an interesting and exciting event for the nation of Kannap and the world. Not only is it the 50th hosting of the WorldVision song contest, which is certainly exciting for the world, but it is the debut of Kannap into the competition, which is exciting for the nation. The citizen submitted is Jasmina Brighton, who is 26 years old. She was born in the city of Northern Matrolyn to Benjamin and Stacey Brighton. At the age of five, she started writing songs and at the age of thirteen, she started competing in regional song contests. At the age of 17, she released her first album. At the age of 22, she moved to Kannapolis and married her girlfriend, Alicia Watson. The two of them have two adopted children together: Morgan Brighton, age 3, and Eric Brighton, age 2.

As stipulated by the government of Kannap, her lyrics were read by Premier Jeremy Andersson before her arrival in Kalosia. The Premier absolutely loved the lyrics as they were about current events in Kannap and spoke against the enemies of the nation: the terrorist group known as the Kannapian Anti-Olympic Association (KAOS). Jeremy Andersson actually just arrived in Kalosia to watch Brighton's performance - he was arriving from his attendance at the Games of the XI Olympiad.

When it came time for Jasmina to perform, she walked onto the stage in complete darkness. This was so that nobody would see her before she started singing. As she began singing, however, the lights did not come on her. The only lights present as she started singing were white lights dancing around the stage, never once landing upon her.

Hello Premier, we meet again.
Here in Northern Matrolyn
Because the nation is bleeding
Because the nation is bleeding
And the attacks brought upon us by KAOS
Are still a plague
Within the borders of Kannap

When she starts singing the second line of the song, "here in Northern Matrolyn," the lights all dart from their current positions on the stage to spotlight on her. She is smiling, presumably because of the wonderful memories of her hometown as she sings its name. By the time she enters into the third line of the song, "because the nation is bleeding," the lights turn red and start darting around the stage again, none of the red lights touch her body as a single white light beams down upon her.

In mountain streams battles wage
Athletic venues and public squares
With the threat of horrible activity
Citizens turn their faces to government action
When the Royal Guard comes running in
Firing shots
Within the borders of Kannap

As she enters into the next part of the song, a screen behind her shows images of mountain streams near Bergsstad, Kannap. Then they show popular Kannapian athletic venues before transitioning into the public squares seen in many of the older, historic cities of the nation. The screen darkens again as she gets beyond singing about these things. The red lights dart faster and faster around the stage before they quickly go out one by one when she sings, "Firing shots."

And in the aftermath before
Many deaths and forthcoming more
Humans dead and dying
Humans weak and crying
Humans crushed and frightened
All within,
Within the borders of Kannap

As she sings onward, the screen once again shows images. This time, images of recent athletic venues targeted by the terrorist organization KAOS. Images of people running away from the venues and others standing nearby looking shocked flash by. Images of citizens crying outside the venues or at vigils for their lost relatives and friends flash by. The images are full of fear and suffering. Pain and agony. Sorrow and defeat. Care was taken to make sure that none of the images showed graphic images of dead, dying, or injured people, in consideration of audience members who may not wish to see such graphic images.

Freedom comes with a great cost
In Kannap, this really shows
Follow the soldiers towards the victory
Follow the soldiers towards the enemy
But they are facing fear
Within the borders of Kannap

The images accompanying her next lines show proud Kannapian soldiers and citizens excitedly greeting them. Other photos show citizens fleeing public squares away from KAOS members and towards Kannapian troops. Close up images of the soldiers faces flash by, showing many things: anger, fear, sorrow, hatred, calmness, and readiness to name a few.

The citizens thanked the men
For defeating the terror
And the nation spent time mourning
Over the brave heroes lost
But the valor of these men were shown in footage
And still images
Within the borders of Kannap

To close out the song, images popped up of citizens across the nation giving gifts to soldiers and thanking them for their brave duties. Other images showed the tombstones of soldiers killed in the conflict against KAOS. At the very end of the performance, a list of soldiers and citizens lost to the cruel acts brought upon the nation by KAOS. The very last name on the list and one shown the longest was that of Vice Premier Brett Andersson, who was noted as murdered by the organization in December 2015. Jasmina looked towards where Premier Jeremy Andersson was spectated from and saw the man crying, mourning in the memory of the murder of his husband. She made a gesture that was meant to be seen as a show of sympathy towards the Premier. He simply nodded and mouthed the words, "Thank you."

The crowd applauded Jasmina's performance and she bowed before leaving the stage. The world may not know the powerful meaning of the song she just sang, but the citizens of Kannap certainly do; and the citizens of Kannap definitely needed a morale booster like this. The only way morale could be boosted even more so in the nation would be if Jasmina placed very well in the competition, though that was not expected when most other nations present have been sending contestants for many WorldVision competitions.

Monochrome Haze - Come On, It’s Me

ImageImage
Monochrome Haze: Patrós Frasiéré (top), Mark Hanton (bottom)

Monochrome Haze is a Pracib-Elejamian duo consisting of Patrós Frasiéré (born 1974) and Mark Hanton (born 1976). Formed in 1998, the Indietronica/New Wave duo are well known for Frasiéré’s avant-garde instrumentalism, as well Hanton’s soulful singing voice and eccentric stage presence.

Born as the oldest son of Praciba's most prolific generals, Henrico Frasiéré, Patrós was instilled with an urge to impress his father, who was deemed a hero by most of the nation. Finishing first in his high school class, he was recruited by the engineers, one of Praciba's more prestigious parts of the military. Enlisting for a period of four years, partly of which he admits was to impress his father, he won various medals during his service, including several for his ability to survive long periods of time without supplies, the so-called Guerrilla Challenge medal. Finishing with full honors, he felt the need to travel the world to search for his true passion, music. Turning his end-of-service bonus to a one-way surprise plane ticket and some travel supplies, he began a two-year tour of the world, earning just enough money through his street music to travel to a different part, often having to resort on travelling in cargo crates or waste disposal barges.

Mark Hanton was born in Edgebaston, MDLN, on April 6th, 1976, the oldest son of Phil (a bricklayer) and Julia (née Laurel) Hanton. Always a keen musician, he taught himself how to play the bass at the age of 13 and keyboards at the age of 15. After moving to Avon in 1994 to study English literature at the University of Avon, he joined a series of bands, most notably Cairo, an electronic-jazz-funk ensemble. After being taught how to sing in late 1996/early 1997, he left Cairo and formed Augmn, a solo project he ran until 2004. Mark has a younger brother, Ben (born 1980), who is now an assistant coach for the ENIHL team Edgebaston Shamrocks, having retired at the end of the 2015/16 season.

The two met in mid 1998, when Frasiéré was in Elejamie, as part of his hitch-hiking tour around the world. Impressed by his musical prowess, Hanton asked him if he would want to work on a project together. Patrós agreed and, thus Monochrome Haze was born, combining Mark’s conventional style with Patrós’ experimental street-inspired tunes.

Beginning with their debut album Chronic Melancholy and Amnesiac Delusions, released in 1999, the duo has received plenty of critical and commercial success. A second album, Drop It!, followed in 2001. But it wasn’t until 2004 that they made it big, with their album Now I Am Become Dance, which spawned the #1 smash hit She Moves So Slow, notable for its music video, in which Mark and Patrós try to impress a girl (played by Mark’s sister in law Liz, an established singer in her own right) by having a dance battle in a club, only for her to leave the club her husband (played by Mark’s real life brother Ben). A fourth album, Sluggin’ for NEAB, came in 2007, followed by a remix album (+10) in 2008.

In 2010, they released their fifth album Electric Super-Ants Invade UK; named after a bizarre newspaper headline they saw over the internet, the album was mostly a tongue-in-cheek parody of B-movies from the 1950s and 60s. Although the album received some criticism due to it sounding different to their previous releases, fans soon warmed to it and consider it one of their best. Their sixth album, Silver Road, was released on April 20th, 2015, reaching #2 in its first week; the following week it managed to take the top spot, where it stayed for a fortnight before being knocked off. They’ve recently released a split double EP with the art-experimental-jam punk band Children of God - titled Black and White Clouds - and, with the release of their first live concert back in 1998, there’s no way these two are stopping now.

Frasiéré became an Elejamian citizen in 2001, shortly before the release of their second album. The two entered a civil partnership the following year and, following its legalisation in 2009, became one of the first couples to upgrade to a same-sex marriage. Together, they have two children: Francisco (born 2003), born via surrogate; and Andrea (born 2001), whom they adopted in 2007. Aside from their music career, Patrós and Mark are co-owners and occasional brewers of Legionnaires Beer, a company they started with a few friends.

After a lengthy hiatus after their last contest in Ekoz, which saw them come 35th with 24 points, ETV decided that Elejamie was going to take a small break from the contest in order to come back strong. However, interest never waned and, for the last ten competitions, ETV still sent Cerin Erali and Flynn Taggart to cover the contest, even though there wasn’t an Elejamian participant. Although the duo teased about it in their commentary, ETV didn’t actually confirm or deny any rumours about returning to the WorldVision.

And now they’re back. Although ETV hasn’t confirmed if they’ll be properly returning to the contest, they have said that they’ll send someone to the 50th WorldVision Song Contest, seeing where it goes from there. They approached Monochrome Haze, who finished the 38th WorldVision Song Contest in Peeto, Polkopia in 19th place with 54 points, who later confirmed that they’d be up for another shot at WorldVision glory. Shortly afterwards, their entry - Come On, It's Me - was dropped, reaching #1 in the charts the following Sunday.

In a live interview on Cerin’s Thoughts, Mark Hanton explained the origins of the song: “Way back in high school - I think I was 17 or 18 at the time, since this was before the move to Avon - there was this girl I liked. We knew each other, since we were both in band class, but I didn’t know if she liked me back or if she had a boyfriend. But I always remember that we met at this restaurant called Ed’s Diner, which explains the video and what it would look like on stage.

Of course, since I’ve been in a relationship with the same guy since ‘99 and she’s probably married now, it’s kind of a moot point. However, I thought that it would be a good song idea and so I put pen to paper and that’s what I came up with. A song about a nervous guy trying to ask out his crush. But, when it came to writing the script for the video, I wanted to have the guy go to the girl’s house and ask her out but I kept drawing blanks, so I went with the diner scene. I was having a little bit of trouble there, seeing as Ed’s Diner closed in ‘94 or ‘95 because the owner died and I think the place is now a parking lot but I’m pretty sure it’s accurate.”

Guide:

Mark and the backing singers
Backing singers

In the beginning, the stage was shrouded in dim light, where the only thing you could see was a shadow Patrós at his desk and the outlines of two ladies sitting down at a table, having a conversation. Much like it was at Peeto in WV38, the desk was something that could easily be disassembled and reassembled. Indeed, to fit the whole theme of the video (and, to an extent, the song), it was designed to look like a counter at the diner, although instead of stools there was just a guitar stand. Indeed, carrying on with the diner motif, the table the two backing singers were sitting around was also made to look like an old-fashioned diner booths, with a fake menu (which, if you paused at the right time, was in the Kalosian language), napkin holder, condiment bottles and salt and pepper shakers. There were a couple of microphone stands in front of the desk, so that when the song actually started, they wouldn't have to walk far to sing.

And then, just over thirty seconds after the song had began, there was a flash of light as, not only did the music become clearer, but also Mark - dressed in an unbuttoned light grey suit, a white buttoned-up shirt and a pair of black dress shoes - started dancing his way on the stage, jamming on a bass guitar. Obviously it wasn’t plugged in, seeing as it meant he had room to dance around, and he made it as clear as possible that he wasn’t actually playing it, most notably by having him wave his right fist (which is normally his strumming hand) in front of the strings instead of plucking them like you would with a normal bass. He also had a headset microphone on, since he had his hands full and he still wanted to move around the stage whilst singing. Meanwhile, Patrós was wearing a charcoal grey buttoned-up pinstripe suit, a white shirt and a striped tie in the colours of the Pracib flag (sky blue, white and red); and the backing singers - Mark's sister in law Liz Hanton, an accomplished singer in her own right, and a session singer they picked up shortly before the first dress rehearsal - were dressed up in diner waiter outfits (as opposed to dressing up as waitresses, as Mark and Patrós thought that the waiter outfit worked better).

Eventually, roughly a minute after the song started, Mark began to sing the first bit which, in the video, was from his point of view, where he was helping the main character (a teenage boy, played by Mark’s nephew Mike) with his woes, giving him a bit of a pep talk.

Listen up
Smarten up

Don’t be scared
I’ll help you out

Don’t hold back
Don’t let go

Tell her straight
Tell her it’s you

Just be brave
Just be smart

When it’s time
Go for the kill

And then you
Get the girl

That’s no lie
Give it a go

We then cut to a wide-angle shot, showing what all four of them were doing. Patrós was at his desk, looking down at his keyboards as he played them, bobbing his head to the music. The backing singers were holding onto their microphones, shaking their heads to the beat as they waited for their cues. And Mark was looking down at the floor briefly, although he looked back up and into the camera when it was his turn to sing the next bit.

Oh, what the hell?

At that point, Mark danced off the stage… and onto the catwalk. Still jamming on his bass, he boogied his way past the crowd, moving his hand away from the strings and reaching down every now and then to take a picture with the crowd, give out high fives or even the odd fistbump. After all, it was an upbeat party jam and there’s no better way to get the audience psyched and up on their feet than actually interacting with them. Indeed, the camera actually got in on the act; it swivelled round so that it was in front of Mark, following him as he walked down the catwalk, stopping and looking down as he went down to interact with the audience.

Come on, I…
Don’t mind me
Come on, I…

Don’t mind me

Eventually, he came to the end of the catwalk. After a brief cut to Patrós, who was playing the keyboard, Mark then sat on the edge and lied down on his back, still pretending to play on his bass as the song wound down a little bit. After a brief cut to the overhead cam, the camera moved upwards to go for an orbital shot, he began singing the next bit, cutting to the backing singers - who were waving their hands to the side as they were singing - when their lines came up.

(Hello… hello… hello…) I just
(Wanted… wanted…) To say
(That I… That I…) I like you

After that last verse, he got back up and started to boogie his way back to the stage, still singing. Again, from time to time, he moved his hand away from the bass to take photos, high-five or fistbump with members of the audience. The sole difference was that, earlier, he was on the right hand side of the catwalk; this time, he was on the left. Indeed, like earlier, the cameraman decided to get in on the action, filming Mark from the front as he danced and sang his way back to the stage, again stopping and looking down as Mark got down and had a bit of fun with the fans.

Hey…
Ahh… Ahh… Ahh… Erm... Ahh…
Hey…
Ahh… Ahh… Ahh...

And then it came to the last verse. Mark basically danced around the stage, still pretending to play his bass. From spinning around on the spot to spelling out HAZE with his feet (another throwback to WV38) and even doing a little moonwalk, there was no doubt that Mark was having a bit of fun as he pretended to jam on his guitar. He even went round to Patrós, who was still playing keyboards, and wrapped an arm around him; even though it was a little bit distracting and the head stock was poking into him a little bit, Patrós didn't really mind, giving a little smile as he kept playing his instruments.

No, don’t mind me
I was just wondering…
If you’d… date me…
Ahh… Ahh… Ahh…
No, don’t mind me
I was just wondering…
If you’d… date me…
Ahh… Ahh…

Just before the end of that last verse, Mark took his plucking hand off the bass and raised it high into the air. And indeed, since there wasn't really any need for him to keep gallavanting around the stage with it on, he took the bass off and put in on the stand. After that, he started rocking his hips a little bit and moving his shoulders with the beat until the song came to its inevitable end.

When the song ended, Mark took off the headset and held it in front of his face as if it was a normal microphone, shouting “Thank you, Kasin! Gracia, fenci and gretsi! And good night!”

He then held it in front of Patrós, who then said “Praß Kasin!” After Mark put it back on his head, the two of them shared a kiss and then, helped by the two backing singers, disassembled the desk so the stage can be cleared for the next entry.

#13 Estogium
Justin Lit - "On ne revient plus en arrière (There's no turning back)"
Tune : Nadav Guedj - "Elle M'rend Fou"
Languages: English, Old Britonish, French

Image

Justin Lit represented North Britonisea, or Estogium nowerdays, in WorldVision 33, and he sang "Away from Britonisea" which at the time didn't really make any sense. North Britonisea, after it changed in to Estogium, has only been getting better at WorldVision Song Contest and relations between Britonisea and Estogium are better than ever, due to the no-border border. Justin Lit is singing about "No turning back" which is a song about one of his friends who made a big decision and is starting to regret the decision. However, Justin Lit is trying to tell the friend, that the decision he made was actually a good one, which huge benefits within the near future.

The song started, and at the start, it sounded as if the song was blurry and some people in the audience started to check if their ears are working correctly. As the song progressed through the introduction, it was clear that the people in the audience were not having any ear problems, but in fact, it was the song before sounding normal again. After the song started, Justin Lit came from the deepest point of the stage and sat on the floor. He started singing.

English;

The worlds joined together by land,
People fighting on mighty sands.
The fight has ended,
Our hope has been revitalised.
Let us hope our hope can thrive.

On the screens behind, it was just of bars (which somehow looked like Electrum's postcard) in orange and blue - which were in the official colours of Estogium. The people in the arena, who were standing up, were dancing along to the song which was getting louder in dynamics.

Old Britonish;

Hidie no expresser, (Hiding, not expressing feelings)
Maet musique no defere. (And my tune has no meaning)
Ripre vhe passé (Unmask the past)
Maet vire desolve-lover, (I'm alright, though - lover)
You need some encouragement.

Old Britonish;

Amos torfe, no'iñe joxtorais (We are strong, no one can interfere)
Amos muy unitee, amos schapter ôppher (We're united, We are must still capture our hope)
Entertainee finer (Exciting, I know)
But this is a top matter,
There ain't no time to drop and moan.

The audience in the arena cheered quietly as the Estogian finished singing in Old Britonish. No one seemed to know Old Britonish, and it also seemed like no one cared whether it existed or not. But, it was a very important language in Estogium; where it is called Rwhitten (like the name of Estogium in Old Britonish Latin)

Old Britonish and French;

Deifie blessred (It's a blessing in disguise)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
Amos Indevencae (We're independent)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
On ne revient (There is no)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
Plus en arrière (Turning back)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la

Image

English;

I know it sounds like I speak of nothing,
But try understand the hidden meaning.
I get down on my knees,
I am begging you, please, please, please.
Please can you hope with me?

Two women came on the stage wearing track suits and started dancing to the song. They were also wearing caps and they used this to hide their faces.

English;

As I've said "there's no turning back."
It is hard, yeah, I understand.
But by standing tall, hand in hand.
We're all against the rest.

Old Britonish;

Amos torfe, no'iñe joxtorais (We are strong, no one can interfere)
Amos muy unitee, amos schapter ôppher (We're united, We are must still capture our hope)
Entertainee finer (Exciting, I know)
But this is a top matter,
There ain't no time to drop and groan

Old Britonish and French;

Deifie blessred (It's a blessing in disguise)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
Amos Indevencae (We're independent)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
On ne revient (There is no)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
Plus en arrière (Turning back)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la

The stage then turned from orange and flickered white and red lights. The flickering lights may have reminded you of the red carpet, and that at the red carpet, there were a lot of flickering of their high powered cameras. The camera swayed around before he started singing. In French. Some men came on the stage wearing red suits and started to sing "Aye!" after every 2 beats of a bar.

French;

Fais de ta vie un rêve, et d'une rêve, (Make your life a dream, and your dreams...)
Un réalité (A reality)
Je suis ce que je suis, oui madame. (I am what I am, yes madam)
La joie de vivre, c'est l'amour et le monde (The joy of life, is the love around the world)
Rêve ta vie en couleurs (Dream of life in colour)
C'est le secret du bonheur (It's the secret of humour)
And I wait for you heart,
I'll hope, and pray!

After he sang in French, the camera then zoomed out of his face, and as it zoomed out (at quite a fast pace), fireworks flied in to the air of the arena; which was earlier blocked by the Kalosians for safety reasons. Luckily, they weren't real fireworks and they couldn't harm anyone in the arena or damage any of the equipment ready for the next act, and acts after that.

Old Britonish and French;

Deifie blessred (It's a blessing in disguise)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
Amos Indevencae (We're independent)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
On ne revient (There is no)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la
Plus en arrière (Turning back)
La La La La La, La-luh-la, La La La-luh-la

"Thanks!" the man said before jumping off the stage and going back to the greenrom. The stage got ready for the next song which was South Bourbonstan.

14- South Bourbonstan

14 | SOUTH BOURBONSTAN
All Of The World-Freaky Believers
Image

Freaky Believers are a band from Bièreton City. Won "Twoj Wiebra" with 12 points. The band joined together through Kora Sla'ndowiec, the lead singer. Made up of Kora, Greg, Li'or, Mark and Har. The group love Worldvision and jumped at the opportunity at representing South Bourbonstan. The song speaks from Kora's heart as she spent 2 years travelling the world. All members have deep feelings about the world and this song tries to present that.

Backstage, the band wait patiently as Justin Lit finishes his song. They all finish their drinks and walk down to the stage. The postcard plays and they set themselves on stage.
The song starts.
Li'or plays a lesser-known Bourbonstanian instrument: The Glo’siny. The remain members run up to to centre stage. The background is a picture of a spinning earth from space.
Woah, oh oh oh, (x4)
It’s really big and so, so verdant,
My mind is reeling, I have no words,
The sky is blue and the earth is green, now,
All moving, working as one,
The band members move into a semi-circle on the stage facing the audience.
Five-ten point one km squared,
There’s just so much to see,
We’ve got to fly over lakes and mountains,
Never seen too much, never seen it all,

The stage shows timelapses of the places mentioned in the chorus. Flames ignite from the stage. The group moves to pick up Kora and carry her slowly around. Kora reaches up to the lights.
Show me the world,
Bièreton, Bourbonstan,
All of the world,
Amazon Rainforest,
And I want to see the sun,
Gleaming from above,
Never gonna see it all,
Never gonna stop,
Show me the world,
Fredegate, Junterapten
All of the world,
Alps and Ural Mountains,
And I want to see the sun,
Gleaming from above,
Never gonna see it all,
Never gonna stop,

Nah, Nah, Nah, Nah (x3)
Yeah!
They drop Kora. Some band members move to imitate exploring the world, the back shows clouds.
And I’m off, into the sky,
Moving through the clouds, up so high,
Seeing the world from up top,
It’s so great, great and nice,
The band members move to sing with the remaining members. They pick up Kora. Flames ignite and the back shows timelapses of the places mentioned.
Show me the world,
Prescott, Electrum
All of the world,
Andes and The Outback,
And I want to see the sun,
Gleaming from above,
Never gonna see it all,
Never gonna stop,
Show me the world,
Phoda, Talvezout
All of the world,
Snowdon, Uluru
And I want to see the sun,
Gleaming from above,
Never gonna see it all,
Never gonna stop,
The back shows deforestation. The band moves out in canon.
World might go away,
Back shows sepia pictures of Kora in various places
But my memories will stay,
Nothing can takeaway,
I say,
Flames ignite and the back shows timelapses of the places mentioned. The band move, each line, swiftly, to look straight.
Show me the world,
All of the world,
Never gonna see it all,
Never gonna stop,
Show me the world,
Kasin and Ansan
All of the world,
Everest, K2
And I want to see the sun,
Gleaming from above,
Never gonna see it all,
Never gonna stop,
Show me the world!

The song ends as Kora walks off and says “Thank you, Kasin!”

15. IZMEDU
Marija Jurisic - Hope

All things must return back to their starting point, a point of return where one can move forward without the baggage from past experiences and events. That was the mindset that RTI took as Kalina Ercegovic brought home a 4th place from Prescott, much to the relief for those intently following the song's voting trajectory. Despite the celebratory mood, many had expressed a sort of 'end of an era' emotion when welcoming Kalina home and dealing with the aftermath of WorldVision 49. Many in RTI have noted how the country was beginning to stagnate once again, with some in the channel noting just how similar Ivana and Kalina sounded to each other. Frustrations were abound as RTI opened up the submissions for the golden edition, letting at least 700 entries trickle into the channel without imposing any sort of restriction. Within that mountain of entries was a surprise that awaited RTI... It was the one return back to 'zero' that the channel needed, a segue back into the roots that defined the country's initial musical identity to WorldVision.

Marija Jurisic, the current Izmeduan entrant to WorldVision 50, could never escape the shackles of having withdrawn from the contest 6 editions ago, nearly risking taking the entire country with her. She never forgot how intense the reaction was when a neofolk artist entrenched in Izmeduan traditional sounds, was chosen after the rousing success of Poslie Postojanje. The media snowstorm of the first folk-sounding ballad since Dejana Horvat's Harmony caused her to lose confidence in what was once the current entry “Hope,” or titled Ufanje back then. Despite these experiences, she kept close to the WorldVision community, polishing the song she created and hoping, just hoping for one more chance at the WorldVision baton. The stars had aligned for her once more again at the dawn of the golden edition, with RTI allowing for any entry to be submitted (including those once in consideration). With “Ufanje” never getting released officially, she submitted the English language version, “Hope,” as her final try for WorldVision. Now, she's back in that same position, 6 editions later.

Born in the mountainous district of Aiej, Marija's life was dotted with more traditional Izmeduan influences that have allowed her to feel comfortable expressing the country's culture without fear of internal ridicule. She was born with Izmeduan folk coursing through her daily sounds, the dances of the local folk groups having been ingrained in her since she was toddler, and the playing of traditional instruments such as Izmeduan tamburica. Needless to say, Marija felt an intense connection with her local district, and her identity as an Izmeduan. Her voice itself also had a more traditional tinge to it, despite being considered incredibly unique to many of her local friends and family. She was able to sing Izmeduan traditional ballads without much reprisal or fear of being berated. In her local community, Marija became defined by her distinct voice, a paradox of being both of a modern style yet being so attuned to the Izmeduan folk tradition.

The crossroads of her tradition and modern-sounding tendencies was the unique selling product Marija used to establish herself in the elusive Izmeduan music industry. With folk sounds falling out of favor in the early 2020s, Marija found it difficult to find any record labels willing to take on her work. However, a few smaller outfits in the local Vodiznad area found themselves entranced with what she had to offer, and this was where Marija's identity as a new neofolk singer came to light. Signing with a small subsidiary of NoviGlas Records, the genesis of what became “Hope” was produced during the time between WorldVision 43 and 44. During the process, much excitement was tethered to the song, with people close to Marija proclaiming it to be an eventual revival of the Izmeduan ethnic ballad after having fallen out of favor in the past few years. WorldVision 44 came about, and she was at throes of potentially revolutionizing a genre that so many people in the country once held dear.

It didn't come to pass then, but 6 editions later, it may perhaps be a reality. The reactions to Marija's entry were far more positive this time for the golden edition. Critics have marked her as 'the slate cleaner' that the Izmeduan entry as of late 'desperately needed.' Some have also noted her far more confident stage persona developed in the last 6 years, with her live vocals becoming more radiant as she was able to bridge the gap between her more traditional register and her more 'pop' one. She has since even won a domestic song contest, the Vodiznad Festival (or VodiFest), in the year after her WorldVision withdrawal with a follow-up song that was titled Sloboda (Freedom in English). Now, Marija stood on that same precipice again, but this time, the country had supported her in her endeavors as the Izmeduan entrant.

As the delegation touched down on Kasin, Marija spent half of her time rehearsing her performance and exploring the local sights of Kalosia. Thus far, WorldVision seemed like one long good dream, with successful promotional visits to the WorldVillage. RTI had sent in a larger than usual delegation with former WorldVision winners, Jolana & Arijana, performing for Kalosian fans as well as Izmeduan debutant, Anthony Bernardini, singing “Until the End” to an international audience for the first time in 16 years. Izmedu's WorldFair exhibition, also successful, was a presentation of Izmeduan Culture by focusing on traditional fashion and folk dances from Marija's home district of Aiej. She was also there personally, in spare free time outside of extensive rehearsals, as she danced and sung with locals interested in Izmeduan culture.

It was time to perform as the Izmedu's name was called up. With a silent prayer in Izmeduan, Marija walked to the stage...

The lights in the Kasin Stadium billowed down to the center at the end of the Izmeduan postcard as Marija stood squarely centered to the floor screen. The crowd cheer from the Izmeduan contingent was quite loud, noting how it was the first folk-sounding ballad from the country in 13 editions. As the lights fully faded to darkness, the camera then faded to a closer, but wide view of the stage at the music's start. The sound was difficult to hear at first as the soft sounds of the xylophone were played live (RTI elected to play the song 100% live). As the crowd quieted, the song proper can be heard as the camera made a slow circling around the stage.

A faint spotlight could be seen shining on Marija, revealing an imposing shadow outline of her with her face down, the microphone set squarely to her mouth already with both hands clasping it tightly, looking as if she was in prayer. A black feather on the background screen looked to be slowly trickling down as the song slowly grew in volume, a final dissolving timed to a 'ping,' where the lights and screens suddenly flashed white before fading into black. For this, the camera turned to a close up of Marija's face being lit up by a spotlight.

Sorrow haunts your spirit
Black feathers floating
Trapping pain in your heart
Refusing to cease

Marija was thus revealed to be wearing this dress as she softly sang the brief first verse of the song, with a soft guitar accompaniment being the only audible instrument. The camera took a cinematic, close angle as Marija looked towards the audience, with the camera circling around her during the verse with the occasional cut to to a bird's eye view or wide view of the stage. During this verse, the three big back screens began to display artistic drawings of mountains done on a gray-white canvas, with black oil and feather seeping into canvas timed to when Marija sang her lyrics.

Light, I beg for your power
Your pure radiance
To protect those I love

The camera maintained a close upper angle of Marija's face, with her reaching out to the camera at the pre-chorus' first line. Then closing her eyes after the first line and slowly clutching her chest, the camera panned out to reveal that the canvas had began to fade into a black, with Marija making a motion at the 2nd line to erase the effects as rays of light began to slowly rise from the center back screen. These rays were briefly strong enough to even leak into brief 'holographic' effects that could be confused for actual stage lights. Those rays, at the end of the pre-chorus, conglomerated to the center as the camera closed up to a view of Marija 'collecting' that light with a grasp of her free hand. Marija's voice was resonant as her voice went into a falsetto for this hook, her voice lilting to a graceful fade at the end of the hook...

In your time of need
Invoke my presence
Call upon my soul
Let hope, guide your path

With the camera still trained on her hand, with one swipe, Marija 'created' a slow forcefield of light onto the floor screen. As she sang the verse, that light slowly created a holographic grain field in black and white, as well as covering the screen with soil, the billowing grains waving about as if there was wind within the Kasin Stadium. During the first half of the chorus, the song began to develop as a few strains of the orchestra can be heard audibly playing, adding a cinematic touch as the camera began to pan out to a wider view of the stage. Marija's vocals were suitably emotional, a plea-like tone coming into her voice as she softly sang the last two lines with a quiet passion.

In your darkest days
Know that I stand strong
A pillar of hope
That will never waver

The camera made a brief close up of Marija's face as she sang the first line of the refrain's second half, before fading into a wider view as the holographic began to slowly 'die,' collapsing onto the ground as they became a mound of matter. The soil, looking like a healthy black on the floor screen, began to wilt into a gray-white mound of dry sand. From the second line on, a screen background reminiscent of WorldVision 34's outline of broken buildings interspersed with fallen trees and derelict mountains in white appeared on the 3 back screens, accentuating Marija's continued delivery of the lyrics. She fisted a free hand, acknowledging the destruction of the past around her, the camera in a view that acknowledged her standing bravely and firmly against the destroyed background.

The fourth line was isolated in a solemn silence as the guitar echoed throughout the stadium, 'That will never waver' delivered as she directly looked towards the camera for that final line.

The camera distanced itself away from Marija with a soft swoop, looking like a cinematic pan as she began to do brief vocalizations, sounding paradoxically like beeps but with an organic aura to them. This continued for a few seconds as the camera began to encircle Marija as the soft rolling drums began to be audible, 'prepping' the song to build to an eventual climax. A few spotlights began to shine and billow down on her as the camera switched to a view of Marija's face, determined but mournful.

Though the storm grows deeper
The world torn apart
The ashes of despair
Fall on your shoulders

The extenuating spotlights faded as Marija began to sing the brief second verse. A mournful violin, the leading one from the orchestra, began to play its melody along with Marija's vocals as the drums began to dominate the proceedings. As she sang the verse, Marija clutched her chest as she moved towards the camera, which made a slight, slow pan throughout the stage. The back three screens began to further entrap the destroyed the city into more ruination. Drawings of black rain began to pelter the ruined buildings and the fallen tries, as the sounds of cracking thunder can be heard. Even the floor screen Marija was standing on looked to be turning into a dying world, with the grains 'falling' to the floor. The camera made one last close up to Marija's face, with a hand reaching out as she sang 'fall on your shoulders.'

Light, I plead for your mercy
Your pure rays of grace
To rescue those I love

Marija stepped back to the stage's center as the camera maintained a stage wide view for the two lines of the pre-chorus. Her vocals, carrying an even greater plea of intensity from earlier, much more forceful than the gentleness she once carried. She began to invoke the lights from earlier, the holograms of white light interspersed with actual spotlights began to turn into a dark red, unable to be controlled by her as they ceaselessly spun around the destruction on the screen. At the third line, the camera faded into a close up of Marija, singing the last line looking up, a hand out grabbing the rogue 'fake lights' dancing around her.

As Marija sang that final line of the pre-chorus, the camera dissolved into a view of the entire stage, further back than any other view approximately near the center. The entire interior of the Kasin Stadium began to shine in a pinkish red as Marija began to do passionately vocalize the wordless bridge to the final chorus of the song. Her vocals almost sounded like impassioned cries, almost mirroring how the destroyed buildings began to disintegrate further to rubble, the broken trees snapping into dust as the drawings began to collate into a literal smoke of particles that threatened to engulf all 3 screens in white, smoke-like material. During this build up, the orchestra began to dominate more of the instrumentation as the sounds of the multitude of musicians playing together resonated through the arena. A solemn melody of a horn, coinciding with Marija having to arch her back forward to belt it out, echoed throughout the arena as it heralded the near-end of the bridge.

In your time of need
Invoke my presence
Call upon my soul
Let hope, guide your path

With the song now at its peak, Marija launched into the final sets of refrains with a fervor that caused her to almost stagger back at the newfound intensity. The entire orchestra was now at play as each string began to resonate even more. At the 'bang' of the refrain, the smoke began to devolve into a yellow-smoke like collection of fast-moving smoke that engulfed the entirety of all 3 screens, including the one on the floor that Marija was standing on. The entire Kasin Stadium now flashed in a mix of a domineering yellow, with some parts kept in a blood red. With another 'bang' at the end of the chorus' half, the smoke began to devolve into a chaos of yellow material that looked like an abstraction of yellow energy on all 3 background screens.

In your darkest days
Know that I stand strong
A pillar of hope
That will never waver

The yellow energy swirled around to further chaos as the camera switched to various angles at each bang, maintaining a closer one for this refrain to spot Marija's passionate vocals paralleled with the extreme emotion she was expressing, eyes closed and reaching out to the camera at opportune spots. During this refrain, a column of energy began to swirl even more chaotically to a point where it began to 'sink' down the center screen and fill the central floor screen with that same energy. Holograms of swirling energy began to encircle and entrap Marija, but regardless, she still stood defiant, echoing the lyrics. Through this refrain, the horn made a brief appearance as the seven bangs at the end caused the energy around Marija to dissolve. A group of spotlights at random spots flashed to the bangs as well as causing the screens to distort to an almost absolute chaos of energy lines and shock-waves, whir-pooling into an indescribable abstraction, all training down towards Marija at the end quickly before fading.

Even if I fall
To the hands of grief
My strength to protect
Prevails over pain

It was here where the camera began to close up even more on Marija, switching from various cinematic angles of the screens, the floor, and herself. With her passion reaching an ever higher peak than before as she pushed her vocals to the absolute limits. She fisted a hand as she sang the first half of the second-to-last refrain, the yellow energy on the floor transforming into a dark brown red that spun around her, threatening to drown Marija into the screen below her feet. The orchestra maintained its peak intensity, with the camera also occasionally panning to a view of a few strings and horns working dutifully to provide the backing music.

As my soul fractures
To the world's sorrows
I'll remain standing

This was the coda of the song, the final set of lyrics before it all ceases. The camera, breaking away from its changing angles, maintained a view of Marija from the torso-up, distant enough to see some of the screen effects. As she sang 'to the world's sorrows,' she unleashed such a passionate belt to the point where she nearly keeled over, the camera catching the raw emotion in her face as Marija fisted her free hand close to her chest. After that one line, the camera began to pan back away from Marija as she began to hold out that free hand, taking one last reflective look at the chaos surrounding the stage as a strong horn and strings would begin to part the song...

At one last 'bang' from the instrumental, the entire Kasin Stadium went completely dark before the last line, with only a lone spotlight remaining on Marija, covering her visage in shadow as the camera maintained its distant view.

Until the bitter end

She sang this line in the darkness, in an a capella that almost echoed throughout the arena. After that one line, the camera faded to a bird's eye view of her in the same statue-like stance that the entry initially saw her in. She made the same vocalizations, the beeping sounds with an organic aura. The camera began to slowly angle itself to a horizontal view. During, a black feather can be seen floating down on the screen against a developing gray background, floating slowly and timed to the music. At the end, the feather 'sunk' to the floor as a small 'ding' heralded the entry's parting note. From that feather, rose up a beautiful presentation of a small group of white feathers on the back screen. It remained there even as the stage lights in the Kasin Stadium returned back to normal.

Following the cheer from the crowd, Marija broken the position she remained in and began to give air kisses to the Kalosian crowd.

“Volim te, Kasin... Hvala lipa! Gretsi Kalosia! Oñë amiro!!!” Marija said as the stage effects were cleared and she walked backstage.

.:: 17 - The Sarian ::.
.:: Harriet Engels - Fight For Love ::.

.:: Language(s): English ::.

To the tune of: Florence and the Machine - Shake It Out

Harriet Engels was the winner of the 45th WorldVision Song Contest, held in Lavington. After winning WorldVision, she maintained critical success - releasing two number one albums and a further seven number one singles. One of these was Fight For Love, originally entered in the World Hit Festival, Fight For Love deals with the heartbreak of finding that a spouse has cheated on you, and the resolve to make it work. Being a returning champion, all eyes are on Harriet, but she tells SNN that she "is feeling much more excited than nervous." adding that "WorldVision is the greatest show on earth, to participate in its fiftieth edition is a dream come true".

The stage stood completely dark with Harriet standing slightly to the right, with the smallest pin drop light illuminating her and a vintage microphone. Wearing a modest 1920's-style black dress, she opened her mouth a began to sing.

Feel like my heart has succumbed to flames
One strand of hair is my blackest omen
I can feel her here, I can feel her here
Living my own personal doomsday

The pindrop light expands, illuminating slightly more of the stage but still leaving a large amount in darkness. From the new light, a band can be seen, dressed in black tie-attire, matching the 1920's era.

Yet every touch sets my mind afresh
Every single word sounds so heartfelt
And when I feel I can't go on...
Together we can fight the storm

If they call me a fool, boy I won't mind
Because I can't see a future without you in my life
We will find a way, we will find a way
Baby, I'll pick you up when you fall down

After your confession, I thought I drowned
But then I realised our love will rebound
You and me, we can move on
Together we can fight the storm

As the chorus begins, the stage becomes immediately illuminated, revealing a ballroom-esque setting. A single pair of dancers are on it, dancing a foxtrot.

Fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, ooh whoa
Fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, ooh whoa
And I know it's tough but we'll make it work
We'll fight for love, oh whoa

Just a few hours when we're apart
And I need you to restart my broken heart
You and me, we can move on
Together we can fight the storm

More dancers begin streaming onto the dancefloor, entering from the back of the stage.
Fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, ooh whoa
Fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, ooh whoa
And I know it's tough but we'll make it work
We'll fight for love, oh whoa

And I know it's tough but we'll make it work (fight for love)
When we fight for love we'll heal any crack (fight for love)
A second chance yet it feels like when we begun (fight for love, fight for love)
Together we can fight the storm (Oh whoa, oh whoa)

They said I should leave you but baby I won't
They say I should hate you but baby I don't
Yes we had a stutter but we've broken that ice
Because baby I need you to keep my heart afloat
'Cause just by your presence, my soul can be free
Just by your presence, my soul can be free
Guess we'll meet in hell because they'll always be you and me, yeah

By now there is around twenty pairs dancing the foxtrot on the stage, creating a flurry of movement and a saturation of colour.

Fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, ooh whoa
Fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, ooh whoa
And I know it's tough but we'll make it work
We'll fight for love, oh whoa

Fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, ooh whoa
Fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, fight for love, ooh whoa
And I know it's tough but we'll make it work
We'll fight for love, oh whoa

A dancer, dressed in white (as a contrast to all the others dressed in black) comes over to Harriet, offering her hand. She takes it and is lead to the ballroom part of the stage, the other dancers make way for them, standing in a circle as Harriet and the dancer begin dancing their own foxtrot.

Oooooooo...
Oooooooo...
Oooooooo...
Oooooooo...
Oooooooo...
Oooooooo...
Oooooooo...

"Thank you, so much. Gretsi, Kasin!"

Kalosia
Amiral Me - Paola Amadin
"Love Me", performed in Kalosian to the tune of I'll Be Waiting - Adele
Kalosian pronunciation guide

After the song that brought the 25th World Hit Festival to the Sarian, was the song that won the 25th World Hit Festival in the Sarian. And here, both songs are competing for a second time.

Paola Amadin originally won the 19th Festival di Melodi Kalosiana, which was the national final for the faaaaaaabulous 25th World Hit Festival. While RTVK's policies for the WHF required the entry to be performed entirely (or mostly) in Kalosian, this rule does not apply for WorldVision so the delegation took the liberty to make the 2nd verse, pre-chorus, and chorus in English, taking from the lyrics of the English version released just a week after the WHF. The song is sung from the viewpoint of a middle-aged woman who has doubts in her man's faith.

And after bringing home Kalosia's first WHF victory, Paola not only reprised it at the 26th WHF in Monterra, but was also invited to represent Kalosia at the golden edition; the 50th WorldVision Song Contest. Some senior RTVK staff have said that there is an unwritten rule that any Kalosian WHF winner would be sent to WorldVision; however as time passed the island nation was still yet to win the festival, and this rule was forgotten.

After Paola's victory came the 26th World Hit Festival, a show that reportedly was done on a budget as RTVK was already allocated a lot of money to what eventually became the bid for the 50th WorldVision Song Contest. At the 31st meeting of the WorldVision Committee, it was announced that the city of Kasin, Kalosia was granted the right to host the 50th WorldVision Song Contest, and Scorillo, Polkopia the celebratory WorldVision: Your Favourite event. And shortly afterwards, the rumours were confirmed true: Paola Amadin had accepted the offer to compete her song once again.

This was the second time that the same song represented the island nation both in the World Hit Festival and the WorldVision Song Contest; the first in 18 editions of the WHF and 29 editions of WV, and the first under the name Kalosia. The only other time this occurred was at the nation's debut. It is also the third time (other than WV21 and WV40) that the entry was chosen through Festival di Melodi Kalosia.

As RTVK was busy taking care of organizing WorldVision, promotion of the entry was not much of a priority so it was mostly limited to just performances by Amadin at the WorldVillage. Some of the nation's former WV entrants, such as Sasha Whiner, Klara Sayid, Letizia, the Dicktators, Lucia Edin, and Ricky Alain, performed as well. The Kalosian booth at the WorldFair had two sub-booths — one promoting tourism to other parts of the nation such as Sitria and Monterra (everyone was already in Kasin, after all), and the other promoting local businesses and thriving startups (y'know, to attract investors).

Well, here she is on the grand Kasin stage, ready to represent the host nation at the golden edition. Paola was wearing a simple but stylish black coat, the same one she used at WHF. She was alone at the center of the stage, but accompanied to the side by 3 backing singers, all donning simple long black dresses. Once again, Paola's creative team decided to focus on the song itself in the performance, so there won't be much happening on stage (after all, if it went right the first time, why change it?).

The host conductor, Eldin Sakranova, appeared on the conductor's podium to conduct the host entry. He waved his baton and the 156-piece orchestra began their rendition of the song. Many of these had already performed it as part of the 124-piece orchestra at the 26th World Hit Festival, also led by Sakranova.
As the opening notes were played, there were many cheers from the crowd. The background was black but as the song progressed white lace patterns grew.

Regular text sung by Paola, (brackets) sung by the backing singers, bolded text sung together by all.

Kadë ja švejo
Šuaki ǧor
Këlkosë sentë vito
Së se në komplet

Ja aprežo
Šuaki moment
Kadë parli a me
Kadë tu soriri

Divenom vež
Komë un modë këlo
I pasat iǧa
Komë lë vento

E šuaki ǧor
Ja penšo
Ežomëz enkor bella
Tu e ja?

In the next part, the backing singers provided vocal "oh"s harmonically to the tune of the song.
Në puvo vivë aksi
Ja t’amiro
Brigo di te
Brigo, tu lašinëz me?

Ma ja reston
Senon fortë
Vedro ten faš e diro:

As the chorus came, the lace patterns faded away while the phrase "Love me" gradually appeared on the black background screen in the languages of all the participating countries, in various fonts, all in white text. The Kalosian "Amiral me" was of course the biggest.
Amiral me enkor
Komë avan ur, kadë ežomt ǧiuna
Ambražal me, speto
Puvom eža’l steli avan venurë l’alba

Amiral me enkor
Komë avan ur, kadë ežomt ǧiuna
Ambražal me, speto
Puvom eža’l steli avan venurë l’alba

As the next verse began, Paola switched to the English version of her song, with the audience responding with some cheers. Just like at WHF, the phrases disappeared and the lace patterns returned.
When I wake up
Every single day
Something just feels so empty
It doesn't feel right

And every day I
Wonder if we
Still have that charming beauty
Or is it now gone?

Again like the previous pre-chorus, the backing singers provided harmonizing "oh"s.
Because I can't live like this
I love you deeply
I am afraid
I'm worried you will leave me

But I will stay
I'll be strong
As I'm facing you, I say:

Again, the phrase "Love me" reappeared on the screen just like in the previous chorus.
Will you love me once more?
Like you used to, like when we were young
So come embrace me, I'll wait
The shining stars in the sky, that could be us

Will you love me once more?
Like you used to, like when we were young
So come embrace me, I'll wait
The shining stars in the sky, that could be us

The lights became a bit dim and the background entirely black. Halfway through the bridge Paola switched back to singing in the song's original Kalosian.
I still love you (I still love you)
But I worry (that you'll leave me)
Cause I can't, because I can't live like this

Ja t’amiro (Ja t'amiro)
Di te brigo (Di te brigo)
Në puvo, në puvo vivë aksi
Në puvo vivë aksi

The lights became bright again, the background having lace patterns, and there was a pyro curtain appearing as well.
Amiral me!

Amiral me enkor
Komë avan ur, kadë ežomt ǧiuna
Ambražal me, speto
Puvom eža’l steli avan venurë l’alba

The pyro curtain gradually came to a stop.
Amiral me enkor
Komë avan ur, kadë ežomt ǧiuna
Ambražal me, speto
Puvom eža’l steli avan venurë l’alba

As the song ended, all the lights abruptly turned off, save for a spotlight on Paola. The audience cheered. Paola said, "Gretsi Kalosia, gretsi tuta! Thank you!", took a bow and then left the stage for the next act.

When I wake up
Every day
Something feels empty
It’s incomplete

I appreciate
Every moment
When you talk to me
When you smile

We grow old
Like a trend that
Has already passed
Like the wind

And every day
I wonder
Are we still beautiful
You and me?

I can’t live like this
I love you
I worry about you
I worry, will you leave me?

But I stay
I’ll be strong
I look into your face and say:

Love me again
Like back then, when we were young
Embrace me, I’m waiting
We can be the stars before the sunrise

Love me again
Like back then, when we were young
Embrace me, I’m waiting
We can be the stars before the sunrise

When I wake up
Every single day
Something just feels so empty
It doesn't feel right

And every day I
Wonder if we
Still have that charming beauty
Or is it now gone?

Because I can't live like this
I love you deeply
I am afraid
I'm worried you will leave me

But I will stay
I'll be strong
As I'm facing you, I say:

Will you love me once more?
Like you used to, like when we were young
So come embrace me, I'll wait
The shining stars in the sky, that could be us

Will you love me once more?
Like you used to, like when we were young
So come embrace me, I'll wait
The shining stars in the sky, that could be us

I still love you (I still love you)
But I worry (that you'll leave me)
Cause I can't, because I can't live like this

I love you
I worry about you
I can’t, I can’t live like this
I can’t live like this

Love me

Love me again
Like back then, when we were young
Embrace me, I’m waiting
We can be the stars before the sunrise

Love me again
Like back then, when we were young
Embrace me, I’m waiting
We can be the stars before the sunrise

7Seas - Countdown
Tune: BTS - SAVE ME

Image

Mercedini participate in the 50th WorldVision Song Contest with their second group in a row, after 5CARLET's 18th place finish in WorldVision 49. 7Seas won the right to represent Mercedini at the anniversary contest in Kasin after they overcame seven other Mercedinian artists to win SongSearch: Mercedini's Choice by a margin of 11 points to claim their place at the contest in Kalosia.

7Seas is a seven member boyband which is relatively new to the Mercedinian music scene, but they have jumped straight in at the deep end with a win in Mercedini's biggest music competition, now they will represent Mercedini at the biggest music competition in the world. They will represent Mercedini with the song 'Countdown' which is a slower song than what we have seen in previous competition, but it still has the Mercedinian 'dance flavour' akin to previous entries.

In their obligatory interview before the contest the message was simple, "We hope to do well in the competition, but we also want to enjoy ourselves on the stage, soak up the occasion and hopefully come away with at least some points and a respectable result"
These are the first participants selected via a national final, which means there will be plenty of hype for the boys, they have put plenty of effort into their performance and they have collaborated with MRCTV to improve the graphics and choreography from previous editions. Hopefully, points from nations in the national final translate into points at the WorldVision event.

The song starts with the seven group members spread across the stage, with the LED screen showing a clock behind them, the clock is counting down to zero, with each tick matching the ticking of the song. The camera starts from the back of the stadium and moves into the stage as the clock gets closer to zero, when it does hit zero one of the members is illuminated by an overhead spotlight. He sings into the first verse into the camera.

Girl, when I met you. The time went slow
How do you do it? I want to know.
You look like a film star. Marilyn Munroe
You can hold my hand
And I can hold yours.

Two more of the members are illuminated by the spotlights, they bound forward to the front of the stage as the camera joins them on stage for a close-up. They sing back to back as the camera circles around them on stage. Lights begin to light up, revealing a barren wasteland on the LED screen behind them , four members of the group remain unilluminated at the back of the stage. As the two members currently being filmed by the camera sing into it at the people at home.

But this time doesn't come cheap
Now we've gotta run, away from this place
Make love when we're alone
We must go now before this time catches up, catches up

Three of the four members remaining are illuminated and they move forward as the two singer move to the left side of the stage (the same direction that the singer of the first verse went to). The camera stays on-stage as the three singers take turns in singing each line before singing together for the last line of their verse.

That's why girl, we must move fast
Don't wanna leave this place when time has past
Baby, now we've got to go
I don't want the clock to hit zero

The three members walk to left side of the stage to make way for the final group member. He is illuminated and we walks forward to the front of the stage, the camera moves backwards and away from the stage. The 7 members form an arrow formation (3 to the left, 3 to the right and the current singer at the front). The lights begin to flicker as the music begins to build as the camera continues to move back from the stage and into the audience.

Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
We've got to move to beat the clock, clock
Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
We've got to move to beat the clock, clock

The stadium goes black before the chorus kicks in and lights around the stadium strobe as the beat kicks in. The group performs their dance routine (which is the same as in their music video). Someone turns on the wind machine which blows the clothes on the group as the dance.

Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
(Uh, oh. C-C-Countdown)
Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
(Uh, oh. C-C-Countdown)

The group finishes singing and performs another dance routine but with much more intensity (due to the fact that they don't have to concentrate on singing). The stadium lights continue to strobe, as the camera overlooks the audience, plenty of flags from different nations are waving as the group continues to perform their dance routine.

Countdown, countdown

The all stand together and walk to the beat of the song across the stage, as one of them sings into the camera (in Mercedinian) at the front of the stage. Two of them swap places and takes over the singing half way through to sing the English + Mercedinian portion of the verse. By the end of the verse, the have made their way to where the catwalk meets the stage.

Priđa siamo a ćorto d'itempo. Battere l'orologio
Godrò il mio tempo šon tu
Watch the clock countdown
(Watch the clock countdown
Watch the clock countdown)

Quando ji separiamo, avròj il ricordo di tu

Before we run out of time. Beat the clock
I will enjoy my time with you
-
When we part, I will have the memory of you

Another two members take over and begin to sing their verse solely in Mercedinian. The walk with purpose along the catwalk as the rest of the group follow them, providing backup vocals when necessary. The have made their way to the edge of the catwalk by the time the verse ends.

Non moj dirò un'anima
Ci sarà mantenere ces segreto tra te'e'me fino alline dei tempi
Prega maggio si, abbracciarmi strettzo
Abbracciarmi strettzo i non laijarmi mai andafare

I won't tell a soul
We will keep this secret until the end of time
Please may you, hold me
Hold me close and never let me go

One of the members takes the reigns and stands at the front of the catwalk holding one hand up in the air as he sings to the audience in the stadium. All of the lights in the stadium are pointed at the group, the LED screen has turned black and the sole focus in of the group standing on the catwalk. The camera moves from the back to the front of the stage once again, until the camera has a close up with the singer.

Now girl, we've got to move fast
Don't wanna leave when time has past
Baby, now we've got to go
I don't want the clock to hit zero

The group moves into a horizontal line as lights strobe across the stadium as the music gets more intense. The camera at the back of the stadium shows the extent of the strobing, as the light are flickering intensely and illuminating the audience

Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
We've got to move to beat the clock, clock
Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
We've got to move to beat the clock, clock

When the beat kicks in, they perform the same dance routine as they did when the previous chorus kicks in, but they now perform in a horizontal line across the catwalk, one of the members if singing the main part of the song, while the rest of the members are providing backing vocals for the chorus.

Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
(Uh, oh. C-C-Countdown)
Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
(Uh, oh. C-C-Countdown)

The camera switches so that it is facing the audience, one of the members faces moves in front of the camera to sing his part of the song. The whole group races back from the catwalk to make it back in the main stage, the camera shows the member who is singing the sing with the audience in the background (who's faces are being illuminated by the lights in the background

Right now girl, we've got to go
Come on girl, we've got to go
There's no time for running slow
Watch the clock, don't want zero.
Il tempo sti fojendo
Tenize la manyo, ce la faremo
Riesco a vedere il traguardo
Non molto più tempo per andare
(Thank You, not much more to go)

Time is running out
Hold my hand, we'll make it
I can see the finish line
Not much longer to go

The camera flips back to show the stage and shows a wide shot of the stage and the group. For the final part of the song, one of the members is at the front while the rest of the group is spread out across the stage. They are all slowly walking forward in front of an LED screen which has the same clock as at the start of the song (which is slowly ticking down to 0). The singer finishes the song at the same time as the clock hits Zero, all seven members fall to their knees to signal the end of the song, the stage goes black when this happens

Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
We've got to move to beat the clock, clock
Cause baby right now we're on countdown, countdown
We've got to move to beat the clock, clock

The group rises up from their knees and waves to the crown to thank them, they then quickly walk off stage to make way for the next performer.

Kwadai - 20
Image

Artist: Mansour Hussayn
Title: Every Day
Melody: Sergey Lazarev - 7 Цифр

Mansour Hussayn is the latest of Kwadai's choices to represent the nation at WorldVision. He is perhaps the nation's most loved male singer, largely due to his uplifting and catchy songs that constantly climb the charts of his homeland. His song, "Every Day" is about a man who is in love with someone, but the relationship is tricky as the two in it are clashing always trying to do what they think is best for the other person, but at their own expense. Yet neither are willing to admit this out loud. When asked to describe the performance in two words, Mansour responded: "Hot, and explosive".

The stage opened to an explosive fiery scene as Mansour advanced quickly but confidently to the centre of the stage dressed entirely in an off white and gold outfit (not unlike Sergey's ESC attire). He was flanked to his sides by four dancers, two male, two female. Their outfits were also coloured white and gold, were tight fitting and somewhat revealing, unusual for a Kwadaian performance. The stage remained jet black with occasional burst of flames on the screens and on front of the stage.

Why don't you tell me I'm wrong?
Cause clearly, my mind is a mess, that's nothing new
Stop shying away from the truth
You need, to finally realise you matter too

After singing the first verse, the stage floor transformed into a tiled floor that appeared to be hovering above the ground but in reality was completely flat. The floor frequently broke and moved to give the idea that lava sat underneath the tiles. Mansour and the dancers moved, perfectly choreographed and in sync to the front of the stage nearest to the audience.

So I've been figuring it out
Clearing out the dust to where I can see you
Even though you don't trust me
I want you to know I'll be here for you

The ground seemed to slot back into place but this time melted away and sunk into darkness. On the screens behind them, bright flaming lights hurtled forward to give the effect of a meteorite shower. More fire burned on the stage edges. But this too slowed in pace as the chorus ended.

Every day then every night
You fill my each one of my thoughts and words
I think that even here on earth
Nothing really deserves you
I want you to know
You're like a work of art
Because it’s obvious, obvious
Every day then every night
You fill each one of my thoughts and words

With the meteor shower at an end the stage turned crimson as if the balls of fire had torched it, leaving only ash and embers. Mansour looked up to stare at the audience while he sang. The two dancers continued with a march like performance.

It's hard to imagine this is real
When all I'm told is that you "really don't know"
Hopelessly lost in your eyes
And I’m realising I can never be the best without you

Oh!

So I've been figuring it out
Clearing out the dust to where I can see you
Even though it sounds bizarre
I want you to know I'll be here for you

The chorus began again, but as this happened a thick grey-brown smoke could now be seen expanding from the back of the stage, shrouding everything. The singer and dancers were still visible and then the smoke began clearing as they sharply turned around and strolled boldly to where a set of ornate looking steps leading to a platform.

Every day then every night
You fill my each one of my thoughts and words
I think that even here on earth
Nothing really deserves you
I want you to know
You're like a work of art
Because it’s obvious, obvious
Every day then every night
You fill each of my thoughts and words

The melody changed as Mansour sang while ascending the steps followed by the dancers each apart from each other. Until they reached the platform.

Wanting to fix this is all that I need
There’s no better time than right now, oh uoh!
Every day then every night
You fill each of my thoughts and words

The fast paced, energetic chorus was sung again, but this time from the platform atop the steps. Here Mansour looked directly into the crowds, grinning. The flames appeared again, this time burning into the floor and on the stairs.

Every day then every night
You fill my each one of my thoughts and words
I think that even here on earth
Nothing really deserves you
I want you to know
You're like a work of art
Because it’s obvious, obvious
Every day then every night
You fill each of my thoughts and words

Mansour waved happily into the audience below them as he finished singing. "Shukran! Spasibo! Merci! Danke!", he exclaimed as the stage turned dark for the next song.

Commentary on MRX One with Sam Smith and Robert Baxter.

Robert: Evening everyone, and welcome to the 50th WorldVision Song Contest, coming to you live from Kasin in Kalosia!
Sam: 50. Big number. And a big role to play for Filius Deorum tonight, as he looks to finally win the WorldVision crown.
Robert: Yes, "I Just Can't Live Without You" is available now from all good retailers. And a few dodgy ones too.
Sam: As per usual, the softness rating will be wheeled out - a soft song is squashy and mushy and all luvvy-duvvy; a hard song is edgy, sick, modern, innit.
Robert: Please never say that again.

Opening Act

Robert: Well, that's... not too bad, I guess.
Sam: Wannabe rap. Eugh.
Robert: Actually, that's a fair point. It was so far away from proper rap that it didn't classify as rap to my ears initially, but now I see what you mean.

01 Polkopia

Sam: I guarantee that will do well. Partly because I love the song, but mainly because it's Polkopia, who could enter three stick insects and probably still get a top-ten placing.
Robert: Doesn't matter about Polkopia's past record and their "friends" when they send such magic as that. I love it.
Sam: That goes down as bread.

02 Talvezout

03 Darkmania

04 Britonisea

Robert: I really did not like that build-up into the first chorus. It sounded like a swarm of bees getting closer and closer to the commentary box. I really thought we'd have to evacuate for a minute there.
Sam: I can't work out if she's skydiving or drag racing.
Robert: I just didn't like it. Sorry, Britonisea... I just don't get it.
Sam: Me neither. And I'm dithering because I don't think it was hard enough for knife but it was in a sense too hard for bread... let's go for bread.

05 Cosneolta

Robert: Not too bad, that. Although they've overlooked the fact Rick Leg is having a year out to concentrate on "other commitments".
Sam: You're a diplomat. "Not too bad"? It was not good. OK, it's not the worst entry ever, but I didn't like it. It is a knife.

06 Kishrael

07 Mister X

Robert: Loved it.
Sam: Yeah, that's the win in the bag, right? Right? It was either jam or butter... I think I'll go with jam, and we'll have the trophy now, thanks.

08 Normandy and Picardy

Robert: Hello... I like this! Well, either that or I've been sniffing too many microphones again.
Sam: Do you know what, when I read that they would be sending something "different" I feared for the worst, but this has actually turned out to be really good. And I mean really good. So far, Polkopia, Mister X, and Normandy and Picardy are my favourites. Knife.

09 Hirvania

Sam: Not quite sure what that acceptance speech was at the end. You haven't won the contest yet, you know!
Robert: Will he win it?
Sam: No. Not with a rap, hip-hop song he won't. And I didn't understand a word of it.
Robert: Somewhere on the desk there's a translation, Sam, if you want...?
Sam: No, it's not worth my time seeing as I didn't like the song anyway.
Robert: Ouch. But OK, if you insist. Softness?
Sam: It's rap. Have a guess. Knife, of course.

10 Ekoz

11 Kannap

12 Elejamie

13 Estogium

Robert: A hybrid of three languages - take it from us that that doesn't go down well.
Sam: Whenever we enter anything partially in Latin, we bomb. And not in a good way.
Robert: It wasn't too bad other than that. It did remind me a bit of "Stand And Deliver" by Adam and the Ants, though...
Sam: Actually, I hear "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" by Stevie Wonder. And that's very similar to Polkopia in terms of softness, so bread.

14 South Bourbonstan

15 Izmedu

Robert: I thought, initially, that she'd missed her cue. That introduction went on for approximately forever.
Sam: As usual, Izmedoan staging second to none. Shame the song let them down. This is only the second song that isn't bread or knife. What I can't decide is precisely where it goes. I was all set to give it plum until she started screaming. But does the butter section compensate effectively? Yes.
Robert: Jam, then?
Sam: Yep, jam.

16 Alinghi Federal-Democratic Republic

Robert: I hope there isn't a full moon outside...
Sam: That just needed someone doing a Viennese Waltz in it.
Robert: You're not wrong, actually.
Sam: But it didn't have one. And I'm not sure screaming "I'm a werewolf" is the best way to promote social inclusion.
Robert: You're not wrong. Again.
Sam: And it's difficult to grade. Harder than butter, softer than bread... I'll go for butter.

17 The Sarian

Sam: I've noticed we've given a lot of points to The Sarian recently. But after that one, I'm not so sure they'll get huge marks off us this year.
Robert: That's harsh.
Sam: It's true, though. And that is butter.

18 Kalosia

Robert: Not the strongest host entry ever done, but oh well.
Sam: It wasn't bad, though. And if you want to know what butter is, there you go.

19 Mercedini

Robert: As the song was bit generic--
Sam: --Knife--
Robert: We've only got one thing to say up here...
Sam: Doo-doo,
Robert: Doo-doo,
Sam: Doo-doo-doo-doo,
Robert: BOOM!

Reach for the Skies by Takeshi Fujinaka
Tune: Reach for the Stars Instrumental Remaster - Sonic Colours

A rather excited Takeshi enters the stage, he waves to the crowd before speaking. "Konichi hite nu Kalosai!" He'd then quickly translate it into English. "Hello people of Kalosia!" He'd look towards the orchestra who were now prepared before looking back to the audience. "I hope you enjoy the performance." He'd then nod to the orchestra, prompting them to begin. The intro would begin and Takeshi would prepare to sing. (The intro lasts up to 0:14 in the video.)

Don't you feel, the wind blowing through your hair?

So cold, yet it's also so soothing.

Birds flying, all around so fast, and free!

Got no regrets inside of me.

I will never give up.

I'll never let go.

I will never ever stop.

I'll keep on flying.

One day, I will reach the skies.

Unlike my previous tries.

I will find my own way.

And take a chance, today.

The skies with clouds so white.

It all feels so right.

I've dreamt of feeling this.

I'll keep on flying.

The skies with clouds so white.

It all feels so right.

Just take my hand and we'll reach, for the skies, tonight!

(Tonight!)

An instrumental would follow and would grow quieter, signifying the song's ending. (1:30 in video.) Takeshi would bow before leaving the stage.

('tis my first WorldVision, please be gentle)
