Appalachia has only 3 categories.

General - anyone may enter

Limited - anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent

Restricted - Adults over 18 only. Typically full nudity or depictions of sex is what will get a movie placed here.
Note: This account is no longer in regular use. I now post as Appalachia

The Ascendancy's Content Rating Association (CRA) uses the following certification system for all films (note, for Cártányne purposes, 'adult' means 15 years or older):

Ex: Exempt from classification (non-educational)
E: Educational film.
Y: Film is targeted at young audiences.
G: For all audiences.
A5: "Advisory 5" - adults are advised to watch with children younger than 5.
A10: "Advisory 10" - adults are strongly advised to watch with children younger than 10.
R10: "Restricted 10" - an adult must accompany children younger than 10.
R15: "Restricted 15" - an adult must accompany children.
N15: "None Under 15" - no admittance to children.
A20: "Advisory 20" - no admittance to children, and a person older than 20 is advised to attend with those between 15 and 19 inclusive. Supplemental classification to N15. If there is explicit sexuality, the film gains an N15/A20 classification.
N20: "None Under 20" - no admittance to those under 20. Exclusively adult content (e.g. pornography) with restrictions on exhibition.
F: Forbidden.
The Ascendancy of Cártána
Any and all dates I use in MT and PMT RPs on the Diplomacy forums are on the Cártányne calendar. See this factbook for details.
I return at long last to P2TM: At the Gates of Elysium, the first part of a new planned series titled The Elysium Variations developed in collaboration with Zarkenis Ultima & Sovreignry, is open now!

All content (except Halloween-themed films) are regulated by the Holiness Board of Censors, which screens media based on its morality. Its job is to remove sexual immorality, cursing, and unclean themes from media. It does not, however, censor political speech or certain genres, which contrasts it from most other nations.

  • PX - Christian-based film or film covering religious themes. Edited for accuracy but subjected to significantly lower standards of censorship. (Example: "Passion of the Christ", the best selling film in TurtleShroomer history, was wholly uncensored due to its PX rating.)
  • S - Halloween-based content (S for "spooky"). Regulated by the All Hallows' Eve Commission for screening in October. Independent of the Board of Censors. (Examples of "S" films include "Paranorman", "The Shining", and "Psycho".)
  • H - Holy. Content was clean enough not to need censorship in the first place. Equal to G-rating. (Example of "H" films include "Frozen" and "Finding Dory", and the entire "Star Wars" series.)
  • H2 - Holy, extremely minor edits. Immoral content had to be purged, but few edits were needed. Other than a removed few curse words, a part of a scene, or a fully off-screen sex scene, the movie is intact. (Examples of "H2" films include the "Independence Day" and original "Ghostbusters" series.)
  • C - Censored. Whole scenes (or a whole scene) had to be removed due to immorality. The plot, however, is intact. (Examples of "C" films include "Pitch Perfect" and "Hitch".)
  • RC - Rewritten. The contents of scenes had to be actually edited. (Examples: a rape scene was converted to a violent beating, or a suicide was converted to an accident.) Efforts to keep the same plot are put forward, and is mostly successful. (Examples of "RC" films include "The Dictator" and "Pixels".)
  • U - Unholy. U-rated films are banned from distribution in TurtleShroom. Possession of U-rated films is subject to fines and destruction of the film(s). An U-rated film conviction is such a petty misdemeanor that it is usually sealed from someone's record. It cannot carry jailtime. Contrast with X/XX/XXX-rated films. (Examples of "U" films "South Park Movie", "All Female Ghostbusters"*, "Inconvenient Truth", and Micheal Moore's films**. The latter two are not outlawed for immorality, but rather, for fraud. "U" films can also include Nazi, Marxist, and violent terrorist propaganda.)
  • X - Lesser vice. The film is porn and is criminalized under TS anti-pornography laws. (Examples of "X" films are obvious.)
  • XX - Greater vice. The film is porn and features "alternate" sexual behaviors, such as sodomy/gay porn, necrophilia, sadomasochism, most fetishes, or other such nasty behaviors. The film is criminalized under TS anti-pornography laws. (Examples of "XX" films are obvious.)
  • XXX - Capital films. The film depicts child porn, bestiality porn, furry porn, rape of any kind, or any combination of the same. Possession, creation, and distribution of a XXX film are punishable by death. XXX films can also contain content that is too shocking or abominable to be tolerated. (Examples of XXX films include "Human Centipede" and any child porn.)

* = The classification of this movie under the U rating was later reversed when it was revealed that such a matter was done for political and personal reasons. Apparently, someone was salty about the casting choices of the revision of his favorite movie. He was disciplined accordingly and the movie was lowered to H2.

** = The classification of most Micheal Moore films under the U rating were later reversed when it was revealed that the classifications were political, not opposition to fraud. Discipline was carried out and the movies were variously lowered to H and H2.

Movie/General Media certifications in Soyuzistan, from lowest to severest.
Exempt (ослобођен): Documentaries or other educational media, i.e The Great War (A documentary about the eastern front of WW2 for all of whom who don't know)
For Kids (За децу): Kid's Media, I.e Sesame street, for this media to be classified as 'For Kids' It Must have some educational theme, non-inappropriate themes, and nothing considered offensive.
For Teens (za тинејџере): Stuff like a Doctor Who Episode that's on the intense side of things, for it to be classified as this, it must be somewhat inappropriate (i.e sexual themes), and a few offensive jokes, and a little bit of blood.
For Adults (За одрасле): Stuff like that New Jason Bourne movie, for it to be classified as this, it needs to be full on inappropriate (i.e tons of sexual jokes or pornographic themes), tons of a offensive jokes, and maybe some blood and gore, but it depends on the movie.
And then theirs Banned (баннед) Which is usually just foreign propaganda.

Here is our classification system All forms of media have recommended age limits that stores will enforce best they can, ages are 3+, 7+, 10+, 13+, 15+ and 18+. Media is rated by the companies that make them, there is NO censorship of content just age ratings placed on products.

I - Informative (Educational content, no restriction)
K - All audiences (No recommended minimum age)
D - Children (Recommended audience age minimum of 7)
T - Teens (Recommend audience age minimum of 13)
Z - Mature (Recommended audience age minimum of 18)
O - Rating rejected (Something was so questionable or objectionable about the movie that the FRA (film rating agency) refused to give a rating, which says a lot about the movie itself considering what they will rate)

Traditionally ratings will also have follow up reasons for why it was rated as such
n - Violence
s- Sex/Sexual themes
d - Drugs
v - multiple
etc

So a movie rated Z for violence would be Zn, while a Teen movie with some amount of sex is Ts and if v is given, a list of them is usually provided along with the rating.

E for everyone - Nothing objectionable or controversial. So no blood, sex, or cursing.
M for mature - for older children. Likely to contain mature themes, light cursing, sexual references.
A for adult - for mature audiences. Likely to contain full on sex scenes, very apparent violence, abundant cursing. Sometimes odd sexual behavior.

E rated films can contain some mature themes. Sometimes there are E rated horror movies, such as coraline.

OFFICIAL INFORMATIONAL REPOSITORY ON: Movie Certification Systems within Nogonia

As with nearly all modern nations, the Federal Republic of Nogonia does employ a movie certification and rating system, for all domestically-made and foreign-imported movies. Keeping in line with general standards, ethics, morals, and anti-trauma precautions, the National Cinematics Committee has formulated a rigid and composite certification system, aptly named the Nogonian Certification Rating System.

(G)eneral - A movie that has been made to conform with nearly all ages. These movies are almost always specifically aimed at children, and as such, are thereforth able to be watched by anyone. Perfect real-life examples of this would include almost any Disney or Pixar movie.

(P)arental (G)uidance - A movie that has undertones or themes that are directed at a younger-than-eighteen audience, but may contain certain themes that are either incomprehensible or inappropriate for those under 13 without a proper guardian.

(R)estricted - For movies that have a significantly different amount of heavy and serious themes than any PG or G movie would, they would fall under this category. Movies at this level usually have the bare minimum of ages from 16 to 18 years.

(A)dult (O)nly - Movies that have a huge difference on heavy themes or undertones are rated in this category. Only those 18 and up are allowed to enter at all, and these movies are more often than not glorified pornography.

(B)anned - Any type of media that has significant amounts of either real-life crime are banned. This category only falls on foreign "movies", since anything like this made domestic will lead immediately to the arrests of the creator(s).

Movie ratings are not government-enforced, nor even approved. Movies are labeled by a self-regulatory agency put in place by the Lancovian film industry. The Lancovian government does not censor media.

A: For all audiences. No objectionable content.
PG: Parental Guidance. Unsuitable for young children.
15U: Unsuitable for children under 15.
M: For mature audiences. (Note: this does not mean "adult" audiences. This is the equivalent of the US "R" rating.)
B: Adult Entertainment. Not banned (even though the B stands for "Blacklisted") but will generally only be shown in adult theaters.

Three ratings are used:

AA: All Audiences. Everybody from children to adults can view.

19A: 19 and Above. Only citizens over 19 (adults) can view these movies or shows. Either because the material doesn't appeal to all audiences or has offensive or objectionable materials.

E: Educational. Contents include educational material. Primarily aimed at school children, but is generally acceptable.

Banned movies (of which there are many), do not get a rating, they are kept secret from the population.
Current RP year is 2066.

The government explicitly restricts movies which are deemed excessively violent, immoral, or otherwise ungodly. As such, the following ratings are used for films:

YA: Youth acceptable; available to all.
AA: Adolescent acceptable; available to people ages 14 and up
AO: Adult only; available to those 18 and older. Usually these films, whilst not immoral, include themes which are more easily conveyed to adults or contain occasional bad language or other rare but acceptable acts which would be frowned upon.
Capilean News (Updated 16 November)
Where is the horse gone? Where the warrior?
Where is the treasure-giver? Where are the seats at the feast?
Where are the revels in the hall?
Alas for the bright cup! Alas for the mailed warrior!
Alas for the splendour of the prince!
How that time has passed away, dark under the cover of night, as if it never were.
