Pet Norns: now with image links fixed!

Postby The shee species » Mon Aug 09, 2010 3:07 pm

Norns (Cyberlifogenis cutis) are a species of creature we created to entertain us and serve tea and biscuits. They are genetically engineered at first, but now the wild Norn population is larger then that in captivity, and they have spread to nearly every world in the republic. They are lovable and innocent creatures, which need some care to survive, though some breeds are more capable of living in the wild.

Now, for the first time the sale of pet norns to other nations has began. Each breed is sold as eggs for one-hundred dollars, two at a time, male and female apart for Wulf norns for reasons listed at their entry. Order yours today!

Banana Norn
The original Norn, banana norns are genetic copies of the first Norn, Ron.
Pixie Norn
Pixie norns are a cute, mischievous breed. They make good pets apart from the last part.
Horse Norn
These creatures usually travel around in herds and like to pose in front of tourists for photographs. They have occasionally been known to attack people who carry large quantities of chocolate, so be warned!
Image
Banana, Pixie and Horse norns, pictured left to right.

Hebe Norn
The hebe Norn inspired many other Norn breeds, has one of the largest populations of purebreds in Albia and can be traced back as one of the first Norn breeds made. Buy yours today!
Alba Norn
One of the oldest traceable breeds, the Alba Norn is what most people think of as a basic Norn. They make very good pets, live a long time and can be trained to perform many simple tasks. They are in other words, just the average Joes of the nornish world.
Malay Norn
This cute little breed is basically a vegetarian Hebe Norn with green and yellow fur. Rather cute however.
Image
Hebe, Alba and Malay norns, pictured left to right.

Santa Norn
Image
Jingle bells! The albian Santa Norn is based on an earthly holiday which is important to us shee as it was a video of it sent via radio into space which first was packed up by us. It was only natural we would create a Norn breed based on it, so hurry up and get your Santa norns.

Purple Mountain Norn
Image
Adapted for life in the foothills of mt, ragnorak in Albia, purple mountain norns or PMNs as they are often called are a very strange breed. Like many high-altitude earthly animals they have very large lungs, allowing them to deal with the low-oxygen environment and thick, silky fur. They also breed rather quickly, you have been warned…

Ron Norn
Image
Ron norns are a somwhat doglike breed, sometimes walking on all fours, panting and licking people. This is intentional; they were GMed almost right after first contact with humans to appeal to dog lovers.

Golden Desert Norn
Image
This breed is a very sweet golden-furred one, ideal for being a pet, as they need slightly less food then other such breeds like Alba norns. They are rather difficult to train however.

Frog Norn
Image
The frog Norn is quite different then any other breed we sell here due to its life cycle. When hatched, it resembles an inch-long tadpole, as it grows it turns into the adult frog Norn. Adults require fresh water to live in, and insects to eat which they catch with their nearly foot-long tongues. They also go “ribbit.”

Forest Norn
Image
The forest Norn is a nice, woodlands breed, with one problem, It take very badly to pollution, so be careful and don’t buy them if you live in a very populated area.

Igua Norn
Image
The Igua Norn, imported from the colonies on Montu is a lizard like breed. Unlike normal norns, it is cold-blooded and while it possesses some hair on it’s head and tail, has a scaly coat. For every breeding pair bought, we also give out a pack of seeds for albian lotusweed, as Iguas love to eat its seeds. Keep them in a hot, sandy environment with plenty of insects and seeds to eat, and your new pets will do quite well.

Scorpio Norn
Image
This aggressive and anti-social Norn breed was created as a sort of guard animal, with a sting containing tranquilizing poison and a very strict territory. For diet we recommend large amounts of fruit, and the albian cactus barrel plants we send with each breeding pair if you want them to be able to sting. The plants produce the venom, if not fed them the Scorpio will be harmless and less aggressive.

Candy Cane Norn
Image
This colorful breed is another variation on the Hebe Norn, which apart from it’s festively striped fur, and a greater tolerance for caffeine and sugar it hardly differs. Still, a cute breed to have around.

Draco Norn
Image
The Draco norns are a rather odd breed, they fly! In appearance they resembles Hebe norns apart from the wings, tail, color and an enlarged chest to hold their flight muscles. They need a large amount of room however to exercise their wings in, and over twice to food a normal Norn would need however.

Ice Norn
Image
The polar, quite literally opposite of the heat-loving igua norns, icy norns are a thick-furred breed adapted for live in cold conditions. They will eat almost any sort of food you care to give them, and for a habitat we provide one freeze-ray projector with each breeding pair of norns sold. Just fire it into their habitat before introducing your norns, and they will do well.

MerNorn
Image
The mernorn is a gilled, swimming breed. In place of back legs and fuzzy tail, it’s torso splits off into a long, fishlike tail and fins. Males are blue, females brown.
We warn you, this breed must be kept in water, and they are unable to breath air.

Albia Gray Norn
Image
The Albia Grays are, as the name suggests, grey norns. Based on the Hebe norns they are mostly identical apart for the color of their fur.

Bird Norn
Image
Based on the Alba norns, this breed has feathers, wings and beaks like birds. They are able to fly, but like Draco norns need large amounts of food and space.

Sibirian Wulf Norn
Image
A wolf-like Norn breed imported from the colonies at Sibiria this breed is a pack-hunting predator. Due to its social nature, we are not selling any less then ten eggs at a time, a small pack. They also need large prey, we recommend deer to hunt. Can be trained as hunting animals.

Alpen Norn
Image
Alpen Norns come from the snowy Ainarda colony and prefer colder climates. The males are purple and the females are white though both are very furry.

Vampyre norns
Image
Vampyre norns are inspired by the countless vampire movies picked up by radio telescopes on albia, from earth. Combined with the idea of a mythical albian predator somewhat like the earthly "vampire" and a obsession with winged creatures on the part of one of our gene-splicers, we just could not let this opportunity pass. So we made a breed.
Vampyre norns are interesting, not only because of their looks, but also because of their behaviour. The genome took us many trials, but in the end it works like this:
- Vampyres age slowly till adulthood
- Once adult they'll spend much of their time sleeping
-they have a very long life-span, "about a hundred years" Normal norns generally live to about forty"
- Also, Vampyres don't often reproduce. They'll mate, but eggs will be rare.
- They aren't literally "vampires" in other words they don't suck blood. They are predatory in diet however
- Vampyres love rainy conditions
- They can't fly in full-earth gravity, just glide. However in albain gravity they fly quite well.
- Their arms and legs have a thin layer of "scales" composed of merged fur, somewhat like rhino horn as armor for landings.
- They like to eat small animals and insects, we recommend feeding them mice or something
- They hibernate if not fed enough, or in some other way mistreated.
- If they do breed, the eggs look smaller then normal norn eggs at only about six inches long, and are a dark red-gold color.
- They have a rather weak immune system, so we recommend you get a hoverdoc to help them with that.

Lop-Ear Norns
Lop-ear norns are a new breed we offer. An adult stands about one-food, six inches in height and will preferably feed on most anything organic its is offered. They do rather well in the wild. What makes them differ from our other norns is their fur color. We offer six tints, Ruby, Sapphire, Gold, Aquamarine, Opal and Iron. Apart from the color of their fur, and that Iron lop-ears have been noted to scavenge food, unlike the other types, the different tints act the same. Interbred lop-ears with appear with mixed fur colors, and if interbred with other types of Norn the result will be quite simply, other Norn types with bright colors. For example, Scorpio Norn plus Aquamarine lop-ear equals a blue Scorpio.

The breeds, shown left to right:
Ruby
Sapphire
Gold
Aquamarine
Opal
Iron

Butterfly Norn
Image
This breed is a genetic combination of Golden Desert and Alba norns, and has beautiful butterfly wings. They also have no tails. Yes, they can fly.

Fluffy Norn
ImageImage
The fluffy females are mostly a deep blue, with very light blue hair and white highlights (as well as one white ear tip). The male norns come in two versions - one that changes color from blue and read as a baby, red and green as a youth, and yellow and aqua as an adult, and one that just has the adult colors. State, which you want when ordering.

Devil Norn
ImageImage
Don’t be fooled, this breed is just as nice as any other. They just look cute this way.

Goat Norn
Image
This cute breed is very easy to feed, they will eat almost anything. Keep them away from fabric stuff you want to keep.

Easter Norn
Image
Easter bunny norns, based on the Alba norns. Inspired after first contact.

Kai Norn

Image
These beautiful purple norns are based on the Hebe norns, though they look quite different with their blue hair. They are a very social breed, and as babies they are dependant on their mother's milk! They either need to be by her side or be fed with milk bottles, sold with the breed. Most types of Norn don’t nurse you see.

UniNorn

Image
The name says it all, really - they're unicorn-like norns.

HoverDoc
The HoverDoc is a curious, genetically engineered bug-like life-form that follows around norns it is dropped upon. It has an accompanying medical device, the Creature Care Kit. This appears as a slide out panel when the HoverDoc is locked on to a Creature. It indicates a Creature's most pressing needs (hunger, crowdedness, etc), as well as details of bacterial infection (with the option of a remedial spray), poisons (with recommended treatments) and fertility (with a pregnancy monitor). It is a very useful for the medical care of pet norns.

Are you selling Norns only to FT and PMT nations or can anyone buy them?
We RP with a population of about 100 million people.
Below are storefronts we are proud customers of.
Trade Relations of Polarex
+ Arjuna Tea Corporation
+ CuppaCofee
+Thinktronic

I would put my factbook link here if I actually finished it and if it was slightly any good. Don't look at it. Still making it. Probably will never finish it.

Well, norms will probably be the most popular pet in polarex. Can we have 1,000 of each norn sent here weekly, and no freeze ray for the ice Norn, don't want my people to be scared. Also send a female Fluffy Norn for the president please. How much would that be?

From,
Jared Blar, Commerce Senior and International trade Director

P.S: No horse or scorpio Norns please

We'd like to adopt 4 Malay Norn, 4 Siberian Wolf Norn, 4 Albia Gray Norn, and 2 Candy Cane Norn.

Also, if you're going to make new varieties, here is a suggestion:
Midnight Norn: a nocturnal breed of Norn that only come out at night. They're very dark blue in color.
Shorten my name to Nav, not Nava. I'm not exactly sure what Nava sounds like but it certainly doesn't sound like something pretty.

Can you modify the Scorpio Norns to sting with a metal-eating acid?

It doesn't need to be too powerful. Just enough to be a deterrent to any Decepticons who might get ideas about raiding my new crude-oil-producing plants. A "melt potential" of about 1/4-in deep should sting hard enough.

If so, I'd like 10,000 breeding pairs.

Oh - they must loathe the taste of crude oil and the plants that produce it, too! Can't have the crops being eaten, after all!

It'd help if they can recognize authorized workers and stand down for them, but that's not required.

I'd also like a pair of Goat Norns. I'm assuming they can live in the wild, thanks to their ability to eat just about anything. If I'm wrong, please advise as to which "pet" types are able to live this way, since I won't be on Earth to feed them all the time, and Cybertron wouldn't be a suitable environment for any of them.

That's an interesting challenge. Since they don't produce the venom themselves normaly, it would be more a matter of feeding them a plant which made acid. We could probably make something like that and adjust the norns to like to eat them.

Victorious Decepticons wrote:Oh - they must loathe the taste of crude oil and the plants that produce it, too! Can't have the crops being eaten, after all!

Easy! They wouldn't eat stuff like that anyway.

Victorious Decepticons wrote:It'd help if they can recognize authorized workers and stand down for them, but that's not required.

Also easy. They can "imprint" like baby birds with very little splicing.

Yes. They would do quite well.

Your goat norns and altered metal-stinging Scorpios have been sent. Thank you for your interest in norns General.
