Aeian Community Summit, Zalejk [Aeia Only]

Postby Vrnallia » Mon Jul 18, 2016 1:42 pm

Welcome, Aeian heads of state, to a meeting of the Aeian Community, an opportunity for the world's leaders to meet and discuss topics of importance to the world today. The aim of this Community remains above all to foster peace and progress between our nations.
Vrnallia has been selected as the host of this Aeian Community meeting. In advance, the following itinerary has been released by the Council.

AEIAN COMMUNITY SUMMIT, JULY 2016, ZALEJK, VRNALLIA

On behalf of the United States of Vrnallia, the Vrnallian Council welcomes heads of state from across the globe! We are proud to be hosting this Summit, and hope all visiting us will not only be able to make a positive impact on the world with the discussions and debates to occur, but also to enjoy their time spent in our cofuntry.

Visitors will arrive at Dvrieska International Airport on the 18th or 19th of July to be greeted by Foreign Secretary Hozu Madirej, and will be taken thence to the ferry terminal located a short distance away in the town of Njalgu. The ferry will leave at 06:00 pm each day for the terminal in Zalejk, a journey of about half an hour. Aboard the ferry, leaders will be served the Vrnallian national dish,
Muskisijochto, the main ingredient of which is mutton. Alternatively, beef and a range of fish are available, while vegetarian/vegan visitors may choose from a small selection of options. On arrival at the capital, visitors will be taken to the four-star Hotel Chusatich and greeted by First Minister Brachvieca LJešmarad and Premier Zujka Cismachà. Extra security has been arranged for the duration of the summit, but leaders will be reassured to know that Vrnallia has a very low rate of violent crime. Until the 20th of July visitors will have the opportunity to see Zalejk, though we strongly advise that officials remain within the capital. The local bus service will run a service from Hotel Chusatich to Independence Square if anybody is interested. Again, while the Square will see an increased police presence, it is a very safe area, with the police headquarters located but a street away.

On July 20, at 10:00 am, all officials will be taken to meet in the Zalejk Culltural Center adjacent to the Federal Parliament, where a room has been reserved to host the summit. Officials will be registered on entry and expected to find their places. The Summit will officially commence at midday.

The following points of discussion have been reserved:

  1. Territorial disputes between the Rennekkan countries
  2. The international impact of the Bejarstan presidential elections
  3. Treaty organisations and their roles today

Following discussion of these issues, officials may raise other issues of concern.

Thank you to all leaders who are coming to our country for this Summit. We hope that the event can demonstrate the virtues of cooperation in an ever more uncertain world,

On behalf of the People of Vrnallia,
the Vrnallian Council: Brachvieca LJ, Renaku H, Khodan V, Hadzia K.

Biçek Pëdërëh, Prime Minister of Sagalash, lands at the airport in the early afternoon. He is greeted by the Vrnallian Foreign Secretary, a bald man, slightly shorter than Pëdërëh. By the time the interpreter has joined the Prime Minister on the runway, two small black cars have pulled up nearby. Hozu explains:

"Welcome, Prime Minister! Since you're here early - and first, I might add - you may wait at the State Parliament. These will take you there, and on to the ferry in Njalgu when that is ready. Unless you would wish to make your own way?"

Pëdërëh accepts the offer, and proceeds to the Parliament of Dvrieska. He declines a guided tour. Instead he chooses to speak with some members of the small Sagalan community of the city who have gathered around, grateful to have the opportunity to speak away from the media. They speak about the ethnic violence Sagalash has seen recently, and the Prime Minister reassures them half-heartedly that everything will be fine, Sagalash is stable, just like he has to say to the journalists. As they leave he sighs. Perhaps some sightseeing will do him good.

Eventually his aide tells him that it is time to leave, and the Sagalan officials return to their vehicles and journey to the ferry. It is larger than Pëdërëh expected, almost like a cruise ship. Clearly this isn't the sort of ferry the common people travel on. He boards.

Aeian Community Summit, Zalejk

Postby Ohen » Mon Jul 18, 2016 3:06 pm

Monday 18th of July 2016

The Imperial Jet touches down on Vrnallian soil in the early afternoon. His Royal Highness Prince Harald of Ohen (cousin to the Emperor and HIHs' chosen representative at this summit) disembarks. He politely accepts Mr. Madirej's bow and after a brief exchange of words makes his way, past the waiting Vrnallian escort, to his private convoy. The Prince's convoy travels to Njalgu, where the Prince eats lunch at a traditional Vrnallian restaurant. Nobody but the restaurant's staff is permitted to enter the resaurant by the Imperial Guards. After enjoying his lunch the Prince takes a short stroll through Njalgu.

Meanwhile, the Ohenian Air flight 112 from Bafu lands on time (14:35) at Dvrieska International Airport. All other passengers are disembarked before a set of steps is connected to the first class cabin. Down the steps comes Hilda Stevenson, Vice-Chancellor of Ohen, followed by Robert Bush, the Commissioner for Foreign Affairs. They are greeted by Mr. Madirej with a handshake. Each of them reads a short statement on how they are happy to be in Vrnallia and look forward to the summit. They enter the prepared cars and travel to the Njalgu ferry terminal to await the ferry's departure.

Following his short stroll the Prince once again boards his private convoy. The royal convoy makes its way back to the airport, where the convoy of cars becomes a convoy of helicopters. The helicopters travel to downtown Zalejk. The convoy lands on the roof of the five-star Ravnik Hotel. The Prince is shown to his penthouse suite. An hour or so later the royal convoy (of cars) departs the Ravnik Hotel and makes its way to Zalejk's most critically acclaimed restaurant. A section of the restaurant has been cleared and prepared for the Prince. The Prince eats dinner with his personal aide and the captain of his guard. Following dinner the Royal Convoy returns to the Ravnik Hotel. Half of the Ravnik Hotel has been given up to the Royal Prince and his retinue.

At 18:00 Vrnallian time Mrs. Stevenson and Mr. Bush are taking drinks aboard the Zalejk ferry with other Aeian leaders. Both Imperial officials converse fluently with many different envoys, delegates and representatives from within the Aeian community. Upon arrival at the Hotel Chusatich, Mrs. Stevenson and Mr. Bush are some of the first to be greeted by Mr. Ljesmarad and Mrs. Cismacha. They briefly exchange greetings and a little small talk before being moved along. That evening Mr. Bush meets for a meal with Vrnallia's head of foreign affairs and Mrs. Stevenson has a quite beverage with Mrs. Cismacha.

In the early evening, shortly after the ferry has left the Mjalgu terminal, the Imperial Chancellor Jørik Bernovik makes phone call to the Vrnallian First Minister Brachvieca LJešmarad to apologise for his abscence from the Aeian Community Summit.

Aeian Community Summit, Zelajk

Postby Bunar » Mon Jul 18, 2016 3:20 pm

Bunar's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Adrian Harper (whom just so happens to be the Chairman's Cousin-in-Law), arrives in his private jet. He stands awkwardly on the runway waiting for his interpreter, after having shaken hands with Honzu Madirej. Mr. Harper takes several private and state calls whilst waiting for the ferry to Zalejk. One of these calls is from his wife Tanya Harper, Bunar's Minister of Transport.

Adrian is happy to see the Hotel Chusatich, however he seems dissapointed that it is not at least six-star rated. He politely greets the Vrnallian First Minister and Premier as one of the last to do so he has a little more time to speak with them. Mr. Harper hopes that he can arrange some private business meetings whilst he is in Vrnallia. He shall see...

VRNALLIAN AIR SPACE
5 MINUTES FROM LANDING AT DVR INT'L AIRPORT

Lucy loses herself in contemplation staring at the window. Just minutes ago they had passed over the Vrnallian coastline - the unfamilliar shapes reminding her of how far away they were from home. Opposite of her sat Foreign Minister Marc Dezain, of the Premier's Executive Council. Mr. Zolan is is here on behalf of Premier Zolan's government - separatist protests in the capital and northwest corner of Baiesgrande had made Madame Zolan too nervous to leave the country.

Lucy, or rather, Lucille Annette de Montrive, Princess of Baiesgrandes and Heir Apparent to the throne, sat on this plane in lieu of her father, King Leopold. While the King's health was stable, the physicians had recommended against long or strenuous travel. Premier Zolan promised that she would contact Secretary Madirej's office before they arrived with her condolences for either leader not being able to attend, but still Lucy was nervous.

This is a summit of Heads of States and Governments....Marc and I are neither.

But the 26 year old understood - if she was to lead Baiesgrandes one day, she needed experience in diplomacy. And there was no one better than Marc to have as her company.

The plane landed, and the two greeted Secretary Madirej. It was almost 6 PM, so they decided to board the ferry right away.

Several black wheels lowered from the belly of a small private jet emblazoned with the Pekwasak colours. Within moments of locking in place, the wheels of the craft had made contact with Vrnallian soil at Dvrieska International Airport. Once halted, Adak Ššiyelo, president of the Democratic Republic of Pekwasahh and leader of the White Party exits the plane. He is quickly followed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Celana Iyan. Both individuals are quickly approached and greeted by the Vrnallian Foreign Secretary Hozu Madirej.

The two are quickly taken to the ferry terminal in Njalgu, and are escorted aboard the boat immediately. Despite having a professional translator present, Ššiyelo insists on practicing his Vrnallian in these relatively informal occasions. Iyan herself needs the translator. They enjoy the Muskisijochto and a bit of alcohol as the ferry slowly plows its way through the water towards Zalejk.

Following arrival at the port, they are escorted towards the Hotel Chusatich, an absolutely lavish hotel by Pekwasak standards. First Minister Lješmarad and Premier Cismachà soon greet them and exchange small pleasantries before the Ššiyelo and Iyan are guided to their rooms. Though they are here two days early, they intend to use this time to relax; a welcome respite from the chaos of governing Pekwasahh.

Miles Custodia Engelbert Caumann, Knight Guard of Castrix, lands at Dvrieska International Airport at noon on the 18th. As always, the Miles Custodia of Castrix steps in as the voice of the emperor on international incidents and is greeted by the Vrnallian foreign secretary, Caumann knows most languages spoken in Aeia, including Vrnallian. Caumann and the four unarmed Corvus walk to the ferry terminal and wait until it leaves. Boarding and traveling on the ferry is uneventful. The Castrians head to their hotel and stay there until the summit commences.

Prime minister Charles Vauban and his team arrived at Dvrieska airport in the early hours of the nineteenth of july. The flight, a private one at that, was uneventful. Despite mild turbulence over Newrey, there was little more of note.
It was still dark when the Midrasian entourage touched down, 4am to be exact. Urgent matters had required the PM to delay his arrival for some time. Vauban, known for his somewhat more informal nature compared with his conservative predecessors had taken it upon himself to place a bet with a member of his security detail.
"Ten ursas says Hozu will be asleep when we land."
"Your on."
Hozu Madirej however was not asleep when the group exited the plane, much to the displeasure of the prime minister, who discreetly handed his compatriot his due. If anything the foreign secretary looked more lively than ever, despite the unsociable hours.

Since the group had arrived so early it would be some time before the ferry within the early evening, and after a lengthy greeting a private convoy escorted the group to central Dvrieska. Of note however were two men not listed on the detail. Although Vrnallian officials had concerns, the pm assured the hosts the two men were mere last minute additions to the team; members of the civil service in the foreign office, experts on Rennekka.

In Dvrieska the group booked into a moderate hotel to get what little sleep they could before the guided tour and ferry. By 10am however, following a hearty breakfast and copious amounts of coffee, the group were up once again.

The guided tour was up next, with Vauban using the opportunity for media exposure and to practice his dismal Vrnallian. Several crowds greeted Vauban, although many did not recognise him; after all, it was only several months ago that Florian de Rein was still Midrasian PM. Speaking with the press Vauban reiterated the event as a 'peacekeeping conference' with the best interest of all at heart.

At 4pm the group departed for the port town of Njalgu to await the ferry. Yet upon their arrival the two additional men had reportedly separated from the group to inspect the dockyard. The two men began photographing the surrounding area, taking special care not to be spotted by anyone, or any camera for that matter. Of most interest to them was the northern section, where the men pulled out some paper and a ruler from their briefcases and began drawing diagrams. Following a brief phone call the men packed up and headed back toward the group.

The ferry ride felt shorter than expected and after a brief conversation with the other leaders aboard the vessel and a delightful meal of Muskisijochto as evidenced by Vauban's empty plate, the group had arrived in Zalejk to be escorted to the Hotel Chusatich.

Upon arrival the group were greeted by first minister LJešmarad and Premier Cismachà. Pleasantries were exchanged and the Midrasian delegation awarded the two gifts of Arbour Vintage. Notable both for its incredibly long fermentation period and its incredibly large price-tag. A backup gift of a handcrafted chess set was also included within the hamper, in case either of the two did not drink. Despite opportunities for a tour of the capital, the delegation elected to remain within the confines of the hotel, allowing Vauban to indulge in a glass of cider and a cigarette away from the gaze of the media. The group went over their talking points and introduced the PM to various phrases of greeting in the many languages of the guests. As the old saying goes 'every midrasian is out to impress', although on this occasion the PMs pronunciation would be bound to impress exactly no-one.

At exactly 17:00, the Rohstian jet sets down on the concrete runway. Baron Charles von Redeln, an aged friend of the King Franz V, exits the private plane with all the pomp expected of a Rohstian diplomat. Once in the terminal, von Redeln is greeted by a young, nervous-looking man, who introduces himself in High Rohstian as Translator Viktor Dorej. He also informs the diplomat that he is filling in for Foreign Secretary Hozu Madirej. The Vrnaillian eyes the foreigner's retinue of Royal Guardsmen, then uneasily looks back to him.

"B-baron von Redeln, it is an honour to finally have you her--"

The Baron cuts him off, and replies in Rohstian-flavoured Vrnallian.

"Ve may converse in Vrnallian. I am in your country, after all, und I vill speak your tongue vhile I am hier."

Dorej meekly nods, and the two of continue further into the airport, followed by the Baron's entourage.

Upon exiting the building, Dorej again tries to sneak a look at the armed Guardsmen. They look dangerous, he thinks. They have vests, and rifles. I sincerely hope they don't cause any trouble. As if reading his thoughts, von Redeln speaks. "These men vill not harm anyvone unless I am in danger. Do not vorry." The remaining trip to the ferry is met with complete silence.

Once aboard, the Rohstian representative is served his meal. Von Redeln notes the texture and peculiar flavour of the lamb, but decides it to be most adequate. He asks a passing waiter to give his complements to the chef. He later chats with the representative from Castrix, Miles Custodia Engelbert Caumann. Both lament the poor quality of the beer.

Once arriving at the hotel, the Baron and Dorej part ways. Von Redeln would be escorted to his room by his men, not the hotel staff (the balaclava-clad Guardsmen made this perfectly clear). Sitting on the bed, von Redeln reviews the day's events in his head. He places his round glasses on the nightstand and scratches his salt-and-pepper beard. He notes that the hotel bed is most comfortable and that the covers are suitably thick; the Vrnallian government did not skimp on the finer aspects of his stay.

Without thinking a further thought, he promptly fell asleep.

At an unspecified time in the morning of the 19th, Ulrich Smarrten, the Prince and heir of Krieslen (and official international delegate of the nation), touched down in his private, unmarked jet. Upon landing, two Krieslenian Air Force stealth fighters dive from the clouds, and begin circling the runway. On the ground, Ulrich departs the jet. He is surrounded by several soldiers of the Krieslenian military's elite division, the Death Eagles. They are equipped with the latest arms and armour issued by the CAR Pact.

Ulrich and his security detail are quickly approached by a Vrnallian escort, who, while speaking perfect Krieslenian, asks Ulrich and his detail to follow him to a waiting limousine. Ulrich and two soldiers, aswell as the Vrnallian man enter the limo. The rest of his party enter the other two escorting vehicles, conveniently provided by the government of Vrnallia.

Upon arriving at the luxurious hotel, the Krieslenian soldiers quickly leap out of their vehicle and open the doors for Ulrich, who walks in and admires the Vrnallian architecture. He then heads upstairs with his security detail. Upon entering his bedroom, Ulrich assigns soldiers to constantly watch the front door, and two more men inside to protect him in his sleep. He stations the last two on the balcony, acting as lookouts for potential threats. The Prince then takes off his overcoat, and heads to the bathroom for a nice, hot bath.

"This is your captain speaking. Please fasten your seat belts, we will land in Vrnallia in approximately ten minutes".
Jonathan Trevino, president of Isolatonia, slowly opens his eyes. As a nervous flyer, he prefers to spend his all too frequent plane journeys asleep. Besides, he thought to himself, it did well to be fresh faced and awake upon landing. He rubbed his eyes clean and quickly ran a comb through his short, dark hair. He had shaved before departure. The last time he had attempted to control his stubble whilst airborne, a sharp right turn from his private jet had caused him to greet the king of Midrasia with a large scratch down the left hand side of his face.
"And to think", he mused to himself, "if I had not been using a safety razor, what state might Isolatonia be in now?"
"I'm sorry, Jonathan?" Trevino sighed. It was typical of the his foreign minister to have one ear against his mouth at all times. And "Jonathan". The wretched man took every opportunity to undermine his authority. But there was nothing he could really do.

Trevino slowly turned his head around, wedging himself in an uncomfortable position between the seat belt and the seat, in order to face the man. Typical, he thought. He chooses a seat behind me so that I am inconvenienced when we speak, but all he has to do is sit back in his chair and smile.
"Nothing, Garcia", he snapped, "I was just thinking out loud."
John Garcia grinned back at him. "Not to worry, Johnny boy, but do try and keep your thoughts to yourself. You never do know whose listening".

Trevino returned to his normal seating position. He would not let Garcia get to him. Not today. It was important that he maintained a clear head. He ran the country, not his damned foreign minister, who had somehow managed to keep his head above the water during two drastic regime changes. The enduring foreign minister... If life was simple, Trevino would at least throw him out of his cabinet, if not into a jail cell. But politics is a dangerous game. Despite Trevino's staunch anti-corruption attitude, Garcia still managed to have men everywhere. And the people loved him. "General John" was the affectionate name given to him. The veteran of various political battles, his sharp, serpent tongue both respected and feared by his opponents. "General John", the mastermind behind the coup which, 20 years previously, toppled "Mad" John Manson from power and into a maximum security prison. "General John", who backed Comrade Hernandez's rise to power, but built his ivory tower on shaky foundations. "General John", who, after 14 years out of the political spotlight, was approached by a desperate Jonathan Trevino, who believed in this old veteran, and was asked to help him win an election. He had made a deal with the devil. Garcia was too dangerous to depose. Yet. Until he could make Isolatonia as transparent as glass, Garcia would remain in his cabinet. His war crimes and civil rights abuses under Manson and Hernandez would go unpunished. That was the trouble with the establishment of liberal democracy. It could not be done overnight.

The plane touched down at Dvrieska International Airport, and the Isolatonian entourage disembarked from the aircraft. Trevino, shadowed by Garcia. Nico Capello, Trevino's personal assistant, Virgilio Esparza, head of security, accompanied by twelve of his finest men, and Emiliana Robles, Trevino's partner, who had insisted on coming along as she wished to take a holiday while Jonathan was at the summit.
"I may as well share your flight", she had said to him, "Or have environmental regulations suddenly dropped off your agenda?" She was right, as per usual, but protocol decreed that she would have to travel with the general staff at the back of the plane, as she wasn't registered as family of the President. Damned bureaucracy, he thought to himself.

Trevino spotted Hozu Madirej waiting for them at the terminal, put on his most winning smile and approached the Foreign Secretary.
"Hello. I am indeed please to see you again", said Trevino, in criminally broken Vrnallian. He would have to brush up on his grammar in the hotel. It had been a while.
Madirej returned his greeting and escorted the Isolatonians to the ferry terminal. Once on the ferry, Trevino lit a cigarette and gazed at the rich Vrnallian environment. It reminded him of dear Isolatonia, in the sense that it was pristine. The flora and fauna of course varied massively from what he was used to, but it was a welcome change of scenery. He gladly accepted two helpings of Muskisijochto.

Upon arrival at the hotel, with the formalities of greeting the Vrnallian officials out of the way, Trevino retired to his chambers, promising First Minister LJešmarad and Premier Cismachà that the quality of his conversation would be much improved after a good night's sleep and apologising for not talking for longer, as it had been a very long day and he did not wish to embarrass himself or his country in his current state of tiredness.

The sleep on the plane had not been enough to make up for the previous night. He had not slept. He needed to ensure that in his absence, the itinerary for his party was flawless. His high altitude nap had freshened him up sufficiently to make a good first impression, but his energy had quickly faded. He should have listened to Emiliana and let Esparza deal with it for him, as he did not have to greet foreign officials and could have afforded a sleepless night. As usual, she was right.

Trevino settled into bed and looked out of the window over Zalejk, taking in its beauty. He had not visited the city since he was a young lad, travelling to see his grandmother's family. With a nostalgic smile on his lips, Trevino fell asleep.

As the wheels of the private jet touched down on the tarmac of the runway, Prime Minister Raymond Holt let out a sigh of relief. He had never enjoyed flying, preferring to take a ship for travelling, so much so he had joined the Navy in his younger years and earned a scar travelling down the left side of his face during a friendly fire incident, however seeing as it only took an hour or so to get from Newrey to Vrnallia, the plane was chosen. Newreyans were also known for packing only essentials, thus in the plane was two security guards, wearing all black and having a small Newreyan flag on their arms. Members of the Special Section of the Newreyan Military Police, whose training was known internationally for its length and the top tier officers it produced at the end of it. On their hips was the standard BCG 21 pistol and a small Commando Knife in its sheath on the chest webbing.

Also accompanying Raymond was the Foreign Minister, Andrew Beckett, a man who seemed to idealise the stereotypical Newreyan man, standing at a respectable 6'2 and having a head of pitch black hair, kept close as Government Ministers were forbidden from having 'extravagant' hairstyles. Of course, in Newrey, extravagant could mean an afro or hair that went just beyond the ears. The Newreyan Press use to confuse the two Ministers when their political careers began, with Raymond and Andrew being remarkably similar in all aspects, the only differences being Raymond had a scar running down his face, ice blue eyes and a pitch black beard while Andrew was scar free, had deep brown eyes and kept himself clean shaven. Aside from Raymond, Andrew and the two security guards, the only other Newreyan representative was the Ambassador, who was waiting for them at the airport. Newreyan Diplomatic Parties were often small, even at large events, mainly due to the fact they never took themselves too seriously and only travelled with people who were needed.

The plane eventually came to a stop, allowing the occupants to exit and move onto the runway. Waiting for them was the Imperial Ambassador for Newrey to Vrnallia, Arthur Mckay, who was the youngest of ambassadors at only 31 and one of only a few redheads in Newreyan Government. Next to him stood Secretary Madirej and a number of other diplomats he recognised, although forgot the names of.

"Ah, Mr. Prime Minister, it is a pleasure to see you again." Arthur offered, holding out his hand

"The same to you" Raymond answered, shaking the extended hand, before turning greeting him. After talking for a while, a convoy of blackened cars turned up, with one of the security guards opening the door. Stepping inside, Raymond was impressed by the black leather interior and opted for the guided tour. As the motorcade made its way into some of the iconic sites in Vrnallia, Raymond was occasionally hounded by pro-LGBT individuals. He was chanced upon by a reporter, who asked for a quick interview, to which Raymond agreed.

"Now, as Prime Minister of Newrey, what is you stance on the recently passed 'Pride Acts'?" the reporter asked, a short, purple-haired woman.

"Personally, I agree with it. The so called LGBT group has for too long been draining our resources in their demands for recognition and protection, while also demanding they be treated like normal people" he answered

"Do you not consider LGBT individuals as normal?" the reporter question, her tone becoming slightly confrontational

"Not really, no. The actions of a minority are not normal. The majority of people enjoy being themselves, have no quarrel with it and are attracted to people of the opposite sex. This makes it normal as the majority do it. The minority of the population do not do this, so this makes them not normal. Now, if you don't mind, this interview is concluded" he said sharply, before returning to the motorcade and made his way to the ferry. A short while later, they were in their hotel rooms and Raymond had chosen to sleep, preparing for tomorrows events

The Campagnian delegation touched down at Dvrieska international in the afternoon of the 19th.
Despite the nation's isolationist nature, it was still the duty of its president to maintain vigilance in foreign affairs. Mostly as an observer, but also to maintain the peace. After all, in most cases war was bad for business. As such, in his stead, President Alvarez had sent Secretary of state Isabelle Larou.
This was by no means her first foreign trip, only three months ago she had scored an incredibly successful trade deal with Bunar which was hailed by almost all members of the Senate, Federalists and Republicans alike. This would simply be another routine trip, this time taking her to the rarely visited North sea region. The last time a Campagnian delegation had visited Vrnallia was 1956 and a lot had changed since then. Alas as more things change, the more they stay the same and the collapse of the ASU had done little to quell feelings of imminent dread and doom. War seemed almost as likely as sixty years ago, only this time the parties sported different colours.

The delegation disembarked at 5pm, swiftly making its way to Njalgu for the ferry. The small delegation quietly indulged in their meal, with Larou selecting one of the few vegetarian options, onion soup followed by an assortment of roasted vegetables. The arrival in Hotel Chusatich was met with a greeting from the First minister and Premier and before long the group settled in their assigned rooms for an early night. A clear head and full senses would be required for tomorrows negotiation and besides the plane journey had been long and arduous.

Chancellor Conrad Tilman sighed with relief as the captain announced the nearing end of the trip. Planes had never pleased Tilman. He had never quite been able to be at his ease in this thing of the air, suspended by its engines alone. But at last, they were landing in Vrnallia, and just in time, too. The ferry would be leaving in less than an hour.

As the plane landed, Tilman reassured himself that he had chosen the right people for this summit. It certainly wasn't anything too demanding, he knew that. Deciding that a small number of three representatives would be best, he at once began thinking who to send. He had decided to come himself; this was a meeting of the heads of state, after all. With him would be his Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrew Clakton: an obvious choice. The third person was not so obvious: the Minister of Scientific Development, Kristine Mathew. Miss Mathew was taken entirely by surprise when she was visited in person by the Chancellor. Tilman smiled as he thought of it. But when all was said and done, Miss Mathew was the perfect person to accompany him and Clakton to Vrnallia. After all, Tilman only wanted peace, and science had always done a wonderful job of brining together people from many different countries and backgrounds. It was something everyone had in common; a fascination of how the universe worked. Miss Mathew would certainly help maintain a peaceful relation with whoever came from Kreislen and Rohst.

Chancellor Tilman climbed down the steps from his jet and was at once greeted by Hozu Madirej.

"We were beginning to worry about you, Chancellor," Madirej kindly informed. "The ferry is about to leave."

"Thank you for you concern, Mr. Madirej," Tilman replied in near-flawless Vrnallian. He had prepared for this trip. "I'm ready for any kind of transportation other than a plane."

The Tertonian delegation soon boarded the ferry, and it shoved off. As Tilman happily tucked into his Muskisijochto, he informed Clakton that if anyone wanted to talk to the Chancellor, they would have to wait till tomorrow. Tilman was positively exhausted. "But you can talk with them all you like, Clakton. Enjoy yourself."

At the hotel, Tilman took off his suit coat and tie, and lay down on the bed. A bit of the teenager is still in me, he thought as he took a small iPod from his pocket and began listening to his favorite movement from Edward Helm's The Stars. Music always helped him to relax, and to cope with his position of huge responsibility. In Tilman's mind, Terton was defined by its music, so he listened to it to remind himself of what he worked so hard for. A knock on the door brought him back to reality.

"Come in," he said, turning off the music.

Kristine Mathew entered the Chancellor's suite. "I just wanted to say, thank you for asking me to come with you."

"It's my pleasure, Miss Mathew. Your presence here will ensure a peaceful time."

"I still don't quite understand how that works."

"Science is a great unifier of all people. I want the difference between Terton, Krieslen, and Rhost to be settled here, and I want it done peacefully. You have a part to play in that."

"Of course, Chancellor."

"Now get some rest. We'll need all the energy we can get for the coming days."

[OOC - any nations who post after now, just leave a post describing your reps' arrival anyway]

The First Minister and Premier stood outside the Hotel Chusatich, looking across the waters to the island of Mazej on the horizon. Without a cloud in the sky, the moon's light reflected up from the North Sea, the very lake-glow that gave the hotel its name. The worlds' leaders - well, those who had accepted the offer of expenses-paid accomodation in Zalejk's most historical hotel, Brachvieca though to himself - were by now likely asleep, and the two would be heading back to their Zalejk homes themselves shortly.

"So... biggest faux pas you've seen?" asked Brachvieca.

"Oh, easy - they keep confusing our surnames and forenames!" replied Zujka with a laugh.

"Yeah, but that's no surprise... have to agree though. Madirej was complaining about them clearing their plates of food but not asking for more. 'Do they expect more food? Did they just not like it much? How should I know?' - you know how he is..." Brachvieca trailed off. Hozu was an odd choice for foreign secretary, but he needed to win the Centrists over, so he promised them the position. As they say, ustiennadih hachtoziedih hudutu.

Their evenings had been spent mingling with their guests and assuring certain notable callers that their personal absence from the talks was of no concern. Like most Vrnallians, both conversed comfortably in Midrasian and Newreyan. He also spoke a smattering of Bejari, while she was fluent in Isolatonian. Anywhere else, they would be the ones speaking a foreign tongue, so it was an unexpected pleasure to hear so many of their companions on the world stage speaking in Vrnallian, some even speaking it well. It made the whole affair yet stranger. But both enjoyed being able to stay at home for once. Brachvieca was uncomfortable on planes, while Zujka was simply unaccustomed to travel. And to see figures of such importance alongside them was a source of pride. The Conservative councillors were already talking about how the summit would prolong the country's tourism boom. The Premier broke the silence.

"I'm going to have a last smoke, then I'm heading back home. You should go now too." She had already lit the thing before the First Minister could reply. He had to stifle a cough. He nodded and turned away.

"Say, before I go, did you know there's a five-star hotel here now?"

In a suburb of Dvrieska, Hozu Madirej entered his constituency office and, the caffeine pills he had taken to keep him awake the past two days having worn off, promptly fell asleep at his desk.

It's a hopeful day as the current Tarasanovia government lands in Vrnallia, prepared for the Aeian Community Summit in Zalejk.

Jamieson Cxiviona, Snowi Verisford and others came in a private jet and arrived to claps of two people, an person that was actually interested in the politics and a drunk man who had assumed it was The Big Bee, a human in a Bee costume who climbed buildings and entertained at children's parties. They quickly made their ways into a nearby hotel in the captial city of Vrnallia, after the drunk man was arrested following the fact he learnt it wasn't the bee and yelled very annoyed, "Pollinate my ass, you bloody useless politicians!" He was sent of dragging and continuing to yell crude sayings, these aren't shown of course due to our tea drinking audience, who last time we showed these quotes sent numerous letters from the same address asking ridiculously politely to not do what we did. We apologize for that.

President Jamieson said that he was very happy to be here and can't wait for the future of being here and seeing what difference he can make. He also seemed to have a few things in mind.

Aeian Community Summit, Zalejk

Postby Ohen » Wed Jul 20, 2016 1:43 pm

Wednesday 20th July, Morning

Mrs. Stevenson met Mr. Bush in the lobby of the Hotel Chusatich just before 10. Her aide had told her that he'd taken breakfast at 7 and had been in the lobby since before 9. 'Maybe he's nervous' she thought to herself, 'Or maybe he's just an early riser.' The two of them didn't expect the Vrnallian cars to arrive until later, but they were both in a little shock when several royal guards entered the lobby. The men informed them they would be riding with the Prince to the summit. The long black cars were waiting outside, a guard motioned to the middle car and opened the back door. The interior was flawless not to mention the wonderful smell. Inside the Prince was sat with a small coffee cup in his hand. "Good morning esteemed representatives." he bade them. They sat in silence for the first few minutes until the Prince finished his coffee. After he put his cup down onto a polished wooden tray, he produced a leather briefcase and from it he removed three sheets of crisp white paper and handed them out. "I'm sure that the Government has it's own intentions for the summit, however my good cousin, the Emperor, wishes to make some sugggestions." They were both a little awe-struck and suprised by the Prince's calm demeanour, but also his amazing charisma. Mrs. Stevenson had met the Emperor but once and he had come across in a very similar fashion, with a different exterior however. Theses men were born leaders. The rest of the journey to the Zalejk Cultural Center was spent discussing strategy and government policy on certain issues. By the time the convoy arrived Mrs. Stevenson believed that all three of them were on the same page with regards to Ohen's intentions at this Summit.

Inside the conference hall were many representatives from all across Aeia some Mrs. Stevenson was familiar with others she didn't recognise. 'Perhaps newly elected or appointed officials.' she thought to herself. On their way to their seats the Ohenian party stopped several times for hand shaking and small talk. They reached their seats just as the clock struck noon. First Minister Brachvieca LJešmarad stood at the fore of the room and raised his arms and signalled to everyone to take their seats. "Welcome one and all to this first Aeian Community Summit in our beautiful Zalejk." he said. Mrs. Stevenson understood most of what he had said, however the interpreter repeated all of it again in Ohenian through the speaker on her right ear.

"We will open today with the issues of Rennekkan territorial disputes. Starting with Krieslen and Terton and moving on to the Northwestern Isles and Castrian Isles." he said, after which he took a seat and awaited the first delegates to speak on the issue.

It was day two of Tarasanovia's time in Vrnallia. President Jamieson Cxiviona went out to a coffee shop, drank his coffee and considered what he could do today in the Summit. Later a man came up to him, whilst he was still drinking his coffee and trying to make out what it said on the newspapers in Vrnallia.

"Hey, are you Jamieson Cxiviona?" Asked the man.

"Why, Yes I am! What do you want to know?" Replied Jamieson.

"Well, I'm actually a reporter and was wondering if you'd like to be on our show before you head off to the Aeian Summit."

Jamieson considered this and thought about it deeply, before deciding against it after remembering one key thing. "I mean, I would love to, but," Jamieson stopped for a moment, really considering if it was worth it. But he knew there was nothing more important than this. "Vrnallia's Got Talent is on in... 15 minutes! I have to get going sorry!" He left quickly and went to watch his show, which he apparently enjoyed. Afterwards he decided to go out and take pictures of interesting doorknobs. He enjoyed this as well.

Then he got a call, from an organisation he knew but couldn't speak of. The organisation worked secretly for the government and managed to have rigged all elections in Tarasanovia since 1984. To pay it back to them, the Tarasanovian government did whatever they were told to and were more posterboys for the actual government.

"Hello?"

"Yeah listen here this is Agent 1579380580108420"

"Oh..." His voiced dropped in disappointment. "It's you."

"Anyways, I need you to do one thing for us."

"What?"

"Make no mention of us or anything about it us, keep it short."

"Oh... Ok then."

Click

Jamieson was really confused to why they had to make the call, considering that he knew not to say anything, and that something special might be up. He tried to make himself lose interest in it, but he couldn't stop thinking about it on the way there. Anyways, the Tarasanovia government arrived later in the day and took their places, ready for a new day. They started by talking about the Rennekan territory disputes, but Tarasanovia felt so far they had nothing to say, especially as they weren't really surrounded by much.

Upon arriving at the summit, the representatives of Krieslen, Rohst and Castrix begin to chat away, muffled by the chatter of the other delegates. Upon the beginning of the summit, the three delegates sat side by side for a brief moment, before the representative of Krieslen rose, and began to speak.

"Greetings fellow representatives, today I speak on behalf of Krieslen.

The great leader of the people of Krieslen has asked me to put forward our proposal to the land dispute in the continent of Rennekka. Krieslen would have the islands off the coast of Rohst be returned to the rightful owner of The Kingdom of Rohst, while the disputed lands between Terton and Krieslen be handed back to Krieslen IN FULL. As Terton would lose land, I propose that Terton then expand their borders to make up for this "loss", a process which may be dealt with separately.

Now of course, you will be asking your selves, "Why should we listen?" Firstly, to the disputed lands between Krieslen and Terton. The lands claimed by Krieslen have been claimed by the ancestors of Krieslen for centuries, and it is only right that these lands are returned to the nation of which their descendants are now united. If these lands are not returned, the people of Krieslen will continue to see this as a massive insult to their heritage and relations between Krieslen and Terton will continue to deteriorate.

I will now hand over to the representative of Rohst.

Thank you for your attention."

"Jawohl."

Baron von Redeln stands up. The room is quiet. He takes a moment to clear his throat.

"To continue from vhere zhe gut Prinz left off... My King demands zhat ze isles off zhe coast of Rohst be returned to zheir true owner. Zhese are lands zhat zhe Königreich of Rohst has de jure claim on, as internationally recognized, und vere illegally taken vhen Rohst vas experiencing..."

He pauses for a moment, searching for the correct Vrnallian word.

"... civil var."

He waits for murmers to subside, then readdresses his audience.

"Traditionally, zhese lands have belonged to Rohst, und still have many ethnic Rohstians living on zhem. Recently, zheir cries to return to zheir Fatherland have become too loud to ignore, be it through letters sent to zhe König himself, or on soziale media. Ve vill see zhem returned to us, eizer through force of arms, or peacefully by zhe end of zhis conference. I, as vell as all of Rohst and likely all of you, vould like to see this exchange end without bloodshed.

My people demand JUSTICE --"

The Baron's face has become visibly red. He slams his hand on the table.

"-- UND VE VILL SEE IT TO ZHEM!"

He steps back, and takes a moment to regain his composure. His words are quick.

"Zhis ist a ultimatum for zhose who so villfully break international law, as vell as spit on zhe face of zhe Fatherland. Zhe armies of zhe CAR Pact stand prepared for var." He looks to Caumann, as well as the Prince Ulrich, who both nod in approval.

"Zhe islands that are controlled by Castrix and rightfully zheirs, und Rohst holds no claim to zhose. Rohst, however, does have legal claim to zhe Reisitz Isles, und has no problem exercising its international right to take zhem back. Hopefully zhat clears the question of zhe territorial disputes, Herr Minister."

He looks to First Minister Brachvieca LJešmarad, and waits for a response.
"I don't give a damn for Caligula -- just his horse!"
"Great men of action never mind on occasion being ridiculous; in a sense it is part of their job."

Aeian Community Summit, Zalejk

Postby Bunar » Thu Jul 21, 2016 4:30 am

Seeing that there is an opportunity to speak Adrian Harper stands. "Fellow representatives and esteemed heads of state," he begins "We are presented with a great opportunity here at this Summit. All of Aeia is gathered here to peaceful resolve its issues." He scans the room quickly before continuing, "We in Bunar do not wish to see any nations forced into unnecessary conflict. As we all know war is bad for business, and if there is one thing that Bunar excels at it is business." He shifts his weight and straightens the jacket of his suit, "Bunar also recognises tha no nation wishes to lose out in any deal. Thus, we propose that if accepted Yvilonia we receed its claim of the Northwestern Isles and return them to Rohst. However, Rohst must give a positive incentive for this return and nothing is more positive than money. Bunar will suply the necessary funds in the form of a loan to Rohst, the details of which can be clarified later." He now turns towards the delegates from Krieslen and Terton "Bunar also wishes to extend this offer to the territorial dispute between Terton and Krielsen. Bunar would very much like to continue trading with all parties however, Bunar does not wish to continue trade during a time of war." He stops, straightens himself up and continues "Thank you for your time one sn all, and I sincerely hope that Bunar's proposition is considered." He sits down and breaths out.

The prince and delegate of Krieslen stands ups and brushes the dust off his shoulders before suddenly snapping to attention, moving to the at ease position and begins to speak.

"The representative for Krieslen has heard the proposal made by Bunar, and while we believe the offer is made with good intentions, we do not accept the proposal. To us in Krieslen, the bank is a place of evil. By offering a loan to the Kingdom of Krieslen, you are essentially being a bank, and Krieslen will not deal with banks! Besides, why should we give up large sums of riches in return for land that is rightfully ours!"

The prince sits down, clearly infuriated by the proposal.

Raymond Holt was momentarily flabbergasted at the demands of Rohst and Krieslen, however, he regained his composure and stood up "Esteemed Representatives, I must express my sincerest disappointment at the inability to compromise between ourselves. First, to the representatives of Krieslen, you cannot expect the nation of Terton to sacrifice such a large ampint of land simply because you owned it at one point. Perhaps it is more insulting that you suggest they merely take more land South, as if it meant nothing. My country has remained relatively quiet about this border dispute, however your actions today havec pushed us on the side of Terton." He took a breath before turning the the Rohstian repesentative "It is perhaps your case that is most worrying. Coming to this meeting, designed for peace, and threatening war. I would suggest you learn some diplomatic tact before speaking again" Ramond added, before taking his seat

Mrs. Stevenson stood immediately after the Newrian Prime Minister had sat down, "Although I am loathe to agree Mr. Holt has the truth of it. It is not a matter of making demands and threats, or who can most profit from the outcome. Myself and many in Ohen are most concerned for those who call these disputed territories their homes. Their lives are already unstable as it is, imagine what war would do to them. Force them from their homes is what! We as the representatives of our peoples have a responsibility to use our mandate to uphold the rights and wishes of those people." She looks around the room stopping her gaze on each of the leaders whom was not elected to their position and making eye contact with each of them. A few of them squirm under her strong gaze others seem not to see her whatsoever. "What I am suggesting is maybe to ask the residents of these disputed territories to which nation do they feel they belong? An independent referendum could be a simple solution." She continues "I however must say that I am pleased that the dispute over the Castrian Isles has been resolved between the two nations themselves." She takes her seat.

The First Minister rose to his feet.

"I am in agreement here with the Vice-Chancellor of Ohen. I urge all esteemed representatives to calm their tones and not to threaten war on another land. It reflects poorly on us all. I would further express Vrnallia's support for Ohen's suggestion regarding referenda. The will of the people living in these territories now is ultimately paramount, not the history of who claimed where first. I would also suggest this alternative - that disputing parties consider power-sharing agreements, in particular an agreement to share the profits of the waters surrounding any disputed islands.

"I would also express great concern that the representative from Krieslen thinks it so simple that Terton might expand their borders in another direction. To me that rather sounds like trading one border dispute for another."

"Finally, I am of the opinion that the offer made by the representative for Bunar is tantamount to encouraging bribery. We take a very dim view of that in Vrnallia."

With that, the Brachvieca returned to his seat and awaited a response.
