Corporate Confederate Factbook

Postby Rich and Corporations » Sun Aug 08, 2010 10:13 pm

The Corporate Confederacy of Rich and Corporations is a colossal, economically powerful nation, renowned for its suspicion of poets and notable for it's barren, polluted landscape. Its hard-nosed, hard-working population of 930 million are either ruled by a sleek, efficient government or a conglomerate of multinational corporations; it's difficult to tell which.

The small, corrupt, pro-business government juggles the competing demands of Law & Order, Commerce, and Defence. It meets every day to discuss matters of state in the capital city of Novoburg. A powerhouse of a private sector is led by the Automobile Manufacturing, Gambling, and Arms Manufacturing industries.

The prison-industrial complex is fueled by increasingly harsher sentences for relatively minor crimes, movies and computer games are strictly censored for violence, penurious citizens die from easily remedied ailments because they aren't 'taking enough initiative', and thieves are flogged in public for their crimes. Crime is pervasive, and the prison system are overflowing with inmates. Rich and Corporations's national animal is the Tanuki, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread hunting and deforestation, its national religion is centered on money, and its currency is the Larwa.

[This section may be revised at any time]

Travel Guide:

What life is like in the Corporate Confederacy? What should travelers be aware of?

Entering the Country: Non-citizens aren't allowed to bring firearms into the country, along with certain foreign and invasive species. You must seperate your luggage into electronics, general, pet and scientific, with the proper stickers and permits. Electronics includes anything that could be scrambled by industrial irradiation machines (all baggage is heavily irradiated to avoid foreign species from entering the country). Scientific baggage requires the permit to first be signed off by your local scientific institution who must then forward the paperwork to the Bureau of Science Ethics of the Bureau of Investigation who will then consider it on the basis of its contents and the country it is departing from.

Bureaucracy:

Food and Water: Available. However real food costs easily twice as much as in other places, for reasons stated in the geography section. You can find industrially processed algae, often sold as cakes, pastries, powdered soup mixes, or pastes in many major supermarkets. Water is readily available, however is often sold as either luxury, standard, or reclaimed (for landscaping only) through immense pipe networks.

Geography: In the central valleys, once considered to be one of the great breadbaskets of the world, are currently dustbowls. This is due to widespread enviromental devastation due to unregulated industrial and agricultural production, and long-standing priorities of water to go towards industry, instead of farmland.

Weather: In most cities during the day; it's hot, muggy, the air filled with smog and soot. The soot is omnipresent and often in the morning drivers have to wash their windshields. Some cities near the Central Valleys are subject to seasonal duststorms. It is advised not to travel to the Corporate Confederacy if you have respiratory illnesses.

Customs:

Crime and Punishment: Travelers should keep in mind that it is mandatory to carry around your traveler's permit and passport at all times. Otherwise you will be subjected to fines and possibly jailtime.

Drugs: Soft drugs such as cannabis, tobbaco, khat, and ecstacy are legal and could be purchased in any major supermarket with the proper identification (ex. driver's liscense, traveler's permit) proving that you are of adult age.

The Police: The police tries not arrest foreigners, without strong evidence that is. That said, the Central Security Service Office and/or the National Police Agency will often keep track of you. So if you think you're being followed, you probably are. To best avoid suspicion, stay within the designated tourist zones.
