Not necessarily. This is not Weimar Republic. History does not repeat itself so easily. No sane government would print more money to pay off debt, don't be so daft.

To be fair, we don't even really have a reason to print as much money as the Weimar Republic did. Our debts aren't urgent, most developed nations in modern times accumulate them and no real drastic action is taken against them generally. Half the reason the Germans printed so much money is because the French and British demanded more money than the entire annual GDP of Germany after the peace of Versailles, so before minting like crazy the Weimar Republic had no way to pay off its debts.

Our national debt is very small compared to other developed nations. The debt to GDP ratio is also smaller than the debt to income ratio of the average Sydney homeowner.

Debt does not necessarily result in more money being printed. You have yet to demonstrate that we will have an inflation rate in excess of 900% in the foreseeable future.

As an Australian AND an economist, I just have to say, what bull excreted this? I mean dude, yeah the mining boom is over, but news flash, it's been over for about 3 years now, and we've been diversifying since, also the fact that unemployment hasn't gone to the double digits is certainly a good indication that not everyone in Canberra is a clown.
