Prostinium is a cultural haven in a world where there hardly are any. It's population of 922,000 enjoy many theatres, museums, parades and the independent movie. It is also a city to be noted for. Being the least restrictive city of nudity on earth, at least 100,000 hippies can be seen lobbying, protesting, or doing their things bare.

Capital City: Carandor

Lanteanar's national capital is Carandor City (pop. ~400.000) in the eponymous province, located on the island's western coast. Surrounded by lush forests and crystal clear water, the city is dominated by white edifices and palm-lined tarmac roads. Divided in three circular districts, government institutions and corporate offices are located in multistory buildings midtown, whilst mid- and lower class citizens reside on the outskirts. Crime has always been a problem in the suburban slums, but recent crackdowns of the expanded police force have resulted in a slow, yet steady decline of incidents. Administrative power rests in the hands of a governor who is assisted by an advisory council, whose members are appointed by the government in recognition of their communal influence.

Since the new government has initiated an extensive reconstruction program to eliminate the last vestiges of the coup d'état that ravaged the country several years ago, tourism has slowly started to reclaim its role as one of the capital's major sources of income. Other important sectors of business are held by corporate administration and banking, whilst the textile industry has established a visible presence close to the city limits.

Carandor is connected to the rest of the nation by a series of roads and a four-tracked railway station. A small airfield (sufficient only for propeller planes or small business jets) just outside the city allows limited access to international airways, but commerce is conducted almost exclusively at Lanteanar's primary seaport located a few miles north of the city. To the east, a garrison of the military keeps ready to suppress public unrest in the capital, as the Protectorate still fears the possibility of riots incited by socialist insurgents loyal to the old government that was overthrown about five years ago.
