Keomora wrote:"I am not stupid Markus... I know why Vincent is really here. Very well that was to be expected but really if we want to get anything done I need that information. Specifically if you still have control of your... government."

"Fine, we may as well get this over with. The ministry of truth was our solution to get you to stop bitching, pardon my language, about the Legion. I tell you right now from the bottom of my heart, I would shoot the bastard that leads them. He is a disgrace to Imperials.

But someone, specifically the leader of the ministry, has been taking control. I don't know who. We specifically made sure the leader was unknown to me so he may do what was best. But he..." He began to sob.

"Angela, I am so sorry I did not tell you before, but he, whoever he is, sent me a letter. It was long and droning on about an ideology, but the main message was we have a sniper aiming at your wife at all times, and we know about the baby."

Angela clearly shocked, stared at him. Then she stood up and hugged him. "It is ok, you should have told me. But I forgive you."

Still sobbing and not even bothering to look at Katherine, he told more. "Mr. Pax has a price on his head because he out of his own initiative did a mathmatical formula. It ended up telling him that a massive war was coming, a leader would rise to what seemed like an absolute victory, but he would all of a sudden fail due to a last effort, and the old leaders would be reestablished. An informant at his college saw this. I wish for him to leave. He does not want to, but I want him to."

"Ah shit" Katherine cursed. Why? Couldn't anything ever be simple.
"Easy company stand down", she ordered, with no hint of her previous playfulness present.
"So how long do we have" she muttered to herself before looking at Louwrence, "who else knows about this meeting."

Markus thought for a minute, then replied "May as well. Nothing we can do at this point. You Angela?"

"Sure"

"Louwrence"

"No, you may leave, but I refuse."

"Why?"

"I have a moral obligation to stay, as you have one to go. I have long sinned in this land, if I die in it, so be it."

"Alright then. I do not understand your choice, but I will not order you either way. Act as you wish."

Ivan sat staring at the files before him. He knew what had to be done. He had the gun in his hand, he just needed to pull the trigger. War. It was the only thing that could be done at this point. The threat was too large to negotiate, the obstacle too large to simply try to work out an agreement. It was over. It had been since it started. Since the pot had began to boil, since the water began to steam. The funny thing was, it wasn't really his choice.

Sure, he could vote against a proclamation of war. It was as simple as saying one word. Nay. Yet it wasn't. The Parliament was too embroiled, too determined, too dumbfoundedly stubborn to let the Eutristinian mantle of power be dismissed. A no vote would spell political suicide. He'd be seen as a coward. The man who couldn't pull the trigger when he had nothing to lose. But most importantly, he couldn't make the King look like a fool. William had all but declared war those weeks ago when he protested the C6. To not go through with the promise would politically de-claw James into an over confident loser.

With a creak, the doors to the drawing room opened.

"Hello William..."

William had always had a persona to him, an aura of coldness, an aura that made you feel he calculated your every move and seeked out your vulnerabilities. It's what made him such a successful politician. As he walked down the halls of the palace, one could feel such a presence that staring down a lion would give.

Today, William thought, Today is the day. As he turned the corner to the drawing room, he felt no regrets. He knew what had to be done. He had nothing to lose. If anything, he would only gain from what he was about to do. Parliament had always liked him, seen him as an excellent symbol, an astounding figurehead for the nation. Now he had not only their favor, but their support.

With a creak, the doors to the drawing room opened.

"Hello William," Ivan said from the couch from which he was sitting. Hunched over, looking up as the King took off his coat and placed it on the coat rack.

"Hello Ivan. I see you've been reading up on our current situation," A menacing silence entered the room as Ivan thought how he could put what he was thinking into words.

"Seeing that you are in no hurry to talk, I will introduce my thoughts on the matter. As we all know, Jahe is our most dear and closest ally. We can only take every precaution to ensure this relationship-"

"Were the spies a precaution?" Ivan sat staring intensely.

"We can only do all in our power to make sure we know-"

"Why didn't I know? I'm the blemmin Head Defense Adviser, I demand to know how my country defends itself," Ivan began to sit up straighter.

"I'm very sorry that we could not provide this information with you at the time, we could not risk the information falling into the wrong hands," William stood looking down upon Ivan.

"Am I the wrong hands William? Do you need to shield information from me that is my direct duty to address?," Ivan began raising his tone, as William struggled for words.

"It is my duty as King to oversee the government runs smoothly. I will do as I see fit to make sure this happens," William said sternly.

"I'm not going to allow you to do this William," Ivan glared.

"It is not your place to tell me what I can and cannot do my dearest Adviser," William cooed condescendingly.

"It is not your job to make my decisions for me William."

"Ivan, sign the bloody paper."

"No. I can't. I don't care what this will do to me. I can't allow my country to lose lives to this."

"Alright then," William shot back, "Ivan, this is happening. Your charades cannot stop what lies before us. War is coming. I suggest you get on the right side of history."

With that, William left the room in his same cold, calculating stature, leaving the coat behind as to remind he was always there.

It was within the largest Cathedral, Geehst van Steen, spirit of stone, where history was being made, in its own unique ways. The church itself was dimly lit, only by torches, as it has not been connected to the power lines of the new nuclear plants yet. The light revealed a lot of banners hung, all with the same symbol. A purple banner, with a black fire bowl, with fire lit in it. On the top left corner of the banner was a scale of justice, on the other was a sword. This was the ministry of truth.

A man, with no torch so his face could not be seen, but he sat on an elevated platform, with crosses that suggested it was originally meant for a priest, but the man who occupied it now was much more radical, and did not preach God's love.

"Valtr Vorácek, for the crimes of not being politically aligned with the rest of the country, for disturbing social harmony, and for attempting to conspire against an elected official, you are sentenced to death by firing squad." He relished saying those words, with a voice that was old, but firm.

"Honorable Judge X" a man frantically said.

"What is it?" He replied calmly.

"The Cornelis family is leaving, our guard we paid off told us so. As you have said, they are traitors."

"How about we give them a little farewell surprise" He said, laughing. "I think there is a Legion outpost close to their meeting place, yes?"

"Yes there is, Honorable Judge."

"Tell them not to be too messy with the Cornelis, we have to bury them. Katherine, I want nothing left of her."

"Yes Honorable Judge"

They quickly made their way outside. "This helicopter will take you to Hayara where you will be safe... I hope that whatever is going on will be resolved quickly-"
Katherine immediately stopped talking when she heard the gunshots. "Wilson what's going on?"
"The legion of dawn... they're here."
"Fuck," she cursed before turning to the Cornelis, "someone talked... we got to sit tight for a minute since this is the best LZ we got."
For a few horrid minutes they sat hiding, while the Special Team dealt with the terrorists. Sitting next to Angela, Katherine was calmy assembling a KE-17 which closely resembled an AK-103.
"Scout Trooper the Hawk is here." On cue they heard the sound of a helicopter, that swiftly landed.
"What are you waiting for Go!" She yelled spurning them into action. They almost made it when some of Marcus's guards arrived, accompined by Keomoran Special Ops. The Cornelis were delighted to see them but then she saw a red dot aimed at Angela's stomach. Without thinking she charged, pushing Angela to the floor before three sharp shots were heard in the night sky. In that moment she felt a sharp pain in her shoulder and abdomen. "Sniper." Was called out but Katherine could not hear it. The world began to spin as she slowly lost herself to the soft embrace of the unconscious.

"Katherine!" Angela screamed and stepped next to Katherine, knelled, and used her hands to stop the blood.

"Louwrence!" shouted Markus. "You return to your home as you wish. We are going to go, and make sure Katherine is all right. Mr. Pax, will you be coming?"

"Of course, you majesty!"

He walked up to a Keomoran captain. "I don't know who is in charge now, but we ride with Katherine. Tell anyone you must."

He then went to Angela to comfort her.

When Doctor Cameron heard she was receiving a critically wounded VIP in the chopper she did not expect for the Empress Katherine to be carried inside.
"What's the situation?"
"Gunshot to the shoulder and abdomen... missed the organs but she has lost a lot of blood."
"Bring them inside" she ordered pointing to the rest.
"Is she going to be okay?" Inquired Angela.
"Maybe. We have to get her to a hospital first."
When the doors closed they felt the helicopter ascend.
"C'mon tell the pilot to hurry back... she has 25 minutes before she will be in critical condition..."

Vincent Pax just calmly looked out of the helicopter window. "It is done."

"What Mr.Pax" asked Markus.

"The bullet hole in Katherine tells me it was one of your snipers. I have a feeling that when we get to Keomora the news will tell us that someone new is on the throne."

"Alright then Mr and Mrs Cornelis... Mr. Pax. You will be sent to Hayara where you will be placed in safe hands" the commanding officer informed them.
The Major then took a harrowing glance at Katherine.
"Shit Kate, what did you get yourself into he muttered lout enough for the Jahenians to hear.

"Is that the city where my cousin was kidnapped? Wait, My phone is ringing."

"Hello. Louwrence!" He looked like what he heard stunned him. "Ok, I will discuss it with everyone. Lay low until then."

"Well, that was my cousin, the civilian director. He says that he can't tell who yet, but it looks like someone is trying to take over, and some cities are protesting for a new emperor. He wants to know if he should collaborate or just hide. How about you, what do you think?" He pointed at the officer.

Suddenly Katherine started to convulse.
"Shit she's entering shock... where's the closest city!"
"Benezandria sir!"
"Land us there!"
Quickly they began to descend where they first dropped Katherine off at a hospital before they landed elsewhere.
"Change of plans... you're going to stay at the Imperial Villa. I'm sorry to say but in there you're going to be supervised and certain sections are off-limit. When the.chopper landed they were greeted by the sight of a luxurious estate, more grand and elegant than their palace in High Rock. "Welcome to the Grand Palace of the Karma's... your temporary new home.

"Thank you sir."

Vincent spoke up "Sir, if I may request, could I be transported to any near acedemic institution. You may guard me if you wish. I just have never had the opportunity to speak with Keomoran academics."

Then Markus asked "Is there any way I could receive IGNO broadcasts? I wish to see what is happening in my nation."

"In the living room." They headed inside to see a rather plainer decorum compared to the inside. Thus they made they're way to the television where the news unfolded.

Markus got to it just in time to see Pondes's coronation speech.

After it he commented, mostly to himself but loud enough for the rest to hear "I don't know whether to be angry at Pondes or disappointed in my people."

After that he started pacing around.

Angela asked the officer "How is Katherine doing? Any updates?"

"God, I would rather die than speak to that group of self centered..." he stopped himself. "I am your guest, so I will speak to them. Just tell them I will not kiss up to them. I will speak exactly what is on my mind. Do you have a garden of some sort? I would like to think of what to say in my speech in a peaceful area."

The Next Day
The limousine containing Marcus and Anglea arrived promptly at Parliamentary Building. They were quickly escorted by paramilitary. Before making their way inside the main chamber they were told to wait a few moments. There they heard the loud discussions of the Keomoran Parliament.mixed with screaming and cursing before a loud "hoorah!" Drowns out the rest.
"Markus Cornelis Parliament is expecting you" announced the doorman as they were led inside."

He walked in, at a slow confident pace. He would not let these people see him afraid. He wore his full ceremonial uniform, complete with decorations from the orders of Jahe and military decorations from the revolution. He was beckoned to the podium by the previous speaker, and he handed his hat to Angela. He knew these radicals would hate him, and hate his speech even more. He half expected a member of the parliament to pull out a gun and shoot him, considering they were almost all military veterans.

"I have been asked to speak to the parliament of Keomora. I personally would rather die then speak to such a lowly group, but I do so out of devotion to my nation, which still is and will always be mine! Anybody who disputes this is flying in the face of logic itself, for I expect to be back on the throne within a month, two at the latest.

Some had said that if I had allowed elections, this would not have ever happened, that I would be home in my capital at this very instant. NO! This would have happened sooner. I as one strong capable leader had been barely able to stand up to your nations blind rage, so how would a group of many, with different opinions, be able to stand up to it? We in our past, were a super corporation. It was lead by a man named Wilm Veldmate, who is remembered for his many business operations in the outside world. Not known to many, however, is the fact that he was also a philosopher. He stated, and I quote him directly "Thank God we are ruled by one man. It is better to be lead by one direct stupid man then a council of indirect stupid arguing men."

You all, every last one of you, face what you have started. You will to stuck up in your rear ends with pride to accept our proposal to have you come and eliminate the Legion, instead you hindered our ability to fight them. It is not my place to judge however. History and God will deliver their judgement to every last person in here.

I suspect that you plan to invade soon. I will hold you accountable for every unnecessary death, every unnecessary destroyed village. You have asked us to be accountable for our citizens actions, but now, I ask you to do the same, which you have refused to do for years.

I do not see here a group that serves their people that have chosen you. What I see here is a military Junta, which rules their nation in guise of democracy. I would ask you to prove me wrong, but I do not expect that to happen soon, or possible ever. I thank you for having me, I shall pay for the expences of hosting us here, and I will be back in Highrock at the earliest possible date. Thank you for the "honor" of letting me speak to you. Farewell."
