Alcohol in your country?

Postby Jolthig » Sat Jun 11, 2016 12:18 am

Is alcohol legal in your country?

For countries that have alcohol as legal

Code: Select all
If so, how is alcohol in your nation regulated?

How is drunk driving regulated in your country? What is the amount of alcohol in a person's system to be classified as above the legal limit of alcohol while driving?

How much time does a drunkard get sentenced if caught drunk driving?

For countries with alcohol banned

Code: Select all
If illegal, what is the punishment for alcohol consumption?

If execution is prescribed, what method is used to execute someone guilty for consuming alcohol?

If prison time is prescribed, what is the penalty from minimum maximum?

Does your nation offer rehabilitation for alcohol drinkers?

In Jolthig, alcohol is legal in the privacy of your own home. And if anyone is caught drunk in public, they are subject to 50 lashes or five year imprisonment and they could be executed if caught again.

EDIT: Newly updated questions have been added to this thread. And the wording of the second question has been improved.

EDIT 2: Further improvements have been made and a new section has been introduced for nations that have alcohol banned.

Further, code boxes have been created for nations with alcohol being legal and nations with alcohol banned.

Please note, you don't have to do both codes whether you have alcohol banned or not unless for historical purposes, or if your country is split into factions then that is fine.

Is alcohol legal in your country? Yes

If so, what is the regulation? You aren't allowed alcohol whilst driving a vehicle. You aren't allowed to spend more than 1000HBY on alcohol in one go. You're not allowed to perform acts of violence under the influence. Other than that, go wild.

Is alcohol legal in your country? Alcohol is legal in 36 out of 37 states - it is banned in the state of New Vashura

If so, what is the regulation?
Regulations differ from state to state. The average drinking age is between 14 and 17 - although some states ban people under 20 from purchasing at supermarkets or liquor stores. Many states, especially northern states, have no regulations or age restrictions at all.

Is alcohol legal in your country? - Yes

If so, what is the regulation?
-Drinking is legal only for those above the age of 18. The exception is someone in a private home with their parent/guardian present may drink starting at age 15.
-Drunk driving (above a .07 BAC) is severely punished with license revocation and possible prison. The bare minimum sentence for someone who kills a person while driving drunk is life without parole, on occasion they have been executed.
-All businesses that sell alcohol must have a permit. Selling alcohol to minors can cause said permit to be revoked. The permitted time for alcohol sales in bars and restaurants is 11 AM to 3 AM.
-It is legal to distill alcohol in your own home (colloquially known as 'moonshining'), however, this alcohol legally cannot be sold or consumed outside your home without a permit.

The federal law on this is alcohol is legal for people of all ages except for when driving on major highways.
You may not spend more than N£200 on alcohol in one day, yet you may consume as much as you like.
Alcohol is allowed in 384 out of 426 localities.

Shyubi culture is convoluted on alcohol. In Shyubi culture, alcohol is considered as a sinful drink damaging to the soul because of the nature of intoxication, and hence should only be consumed in small amounts and occasionally. Shyubi culture and literature had long condemned regular drunkenness as one of the worst sins an individual can realistically commit, even though it is mainly a misdemeanor in Shyubi jurisprudence and law.

It remains legal, and can be banned the government on whim. It happened that it was banned by the government to disappoint and frustrate the Russians, Koreans and the Japanese, and legalized again to insult Muslims.

Presently, alcohol is legal and subject to stringy regulations, leading to high prices and alcohol smuggling remains a major problem in Shyubi Koku Naishufun.
I don't list pros and cons, they are so nebulous....

Is alcohol legal in your country?
Yes, but it is strictly regulated.
If so, what is the regulation?
  • To by wine or beer in Noraika, the minimum age is 18 years. For spirits, it is 20 years. Sale to the visibly inebriated, or sales to people that they have reason to believe are purchasing for someone under legal age, is prohibited.
  • A National Identification Card is required for purchase. Alcohol is not permitted to be sold to non-residents.
  • Alcohol at a higher than 3.5% ABV, as well as all forms of wine) can only be purchased from a chain of state-owned stores, but is only sold before 6pm on weekdays, or 3pm on Saturdays.
  • Alcohol-containing products may only be sold as single units, and the amount that may be purchased at once is 4 maximum.
  • It is an offence to drink any form of alcoholic beverage in public places.
    -
  • Producers of alcohol, such as vineyards, are not allowed to sell their products to consumers.
  • Importation for private and own consumption is permitted, so long as the process is overseen and approved by the Ministry for Trade
    Tax structure on alcohol products
Two taxes are applied to alcoholic beverages. First an excise tax of 20%-60% is applied. Then an additional 25% medical fine is levied on the purchase.
    • At less than 0.5% ABV, no tax is applied, but the 25% medical fine is.
    • From 0.5% - 1.5% ABV, a 20% tax is applied, with the 25% medical fine.
    • From 1.5% - 3.5% ABV, a 40% tax is applied, with the 25% medical fine.
    • From 3.5% ABV and aboce, a 60% tax is applied, with the 25% medical fine.

This is not a complete list, but it gets most important aspects in place.

Alcohol is legal in Galway-Dublin, both for consumers to consume as long as they're over the age of 18, and for corporations to produce and sell to the public as long as they have a license to do so. Similarly, it is legal for bars, shops, and stores to sell alcohol to people of legal age, as long as the stores and bars in question have a legal liquor license.

Is alcohol legal in your country? Yes.

If so, what is the regulation? Alcohol is just a fuel when combusted in an engine, so there is absolutely no regulation whatsoever regarding the sale and use of this substance. However, since it is far weaker than Energon, it is typically made as an emergency substitute by those stranded on remote worlds, and is very hard to find within the Decepticon Empire.

The production of alcohol has regulations concerning how it is made. On Cybertron, biological lifeforms (other than sapient tourists) are banned so that they don't end up running rampant. This makes it so that traditional forms of alcohol production cannot be used here on the home world, and instead, the substance has to be synthesized in chemical factories.

On our organic worlds, there is no regulation whatsoever. Those places are already infested with biolife, so what's a few trillion more yeast organisms?

Biological tourists are advised to note that engines can also run on methanol and that for us, it works about the same as ethanol. Therefore, we don't really care if we get served one instead of the other or if one has some of the other in it. Since such a mix-up can be fatal to certain biological species, members of those species are advised to bring their own testing kits and use them before imbibing.

Finally, there are no bars, or at least, none that serve alcohol. Ours serve Energon. If you want ethanol, try a mechanic's shop or some industrial company that uses it as a solvent.

Alcohol is legal in Great Order, with the legal drinking age being 18 although minors may drink with parent or guardian permission.

Restrictions upon it are that a license must be obtained via bureaucracy to sell it at a store and a separate license is needed for a bar and or restaurant to serve it. Public education and PSA's inform Playthings about the potential dangers of alcohol and instruct them to consume in moderation. There are laws regulating how much alcohol a bar may serve an individual before being required to cut them off and there is a limit on how much alcohol one may buy at a store.
