Unfortunately the right to self-determination has been treated by many as a joke. without disclosing my alignment on this particular issue on the morality side of things (only on my support of federalism), it is sadly true that the idea of a large amount of people owning a large amount of land and controlling a majority in their area have the right to define who they are has become a joke to modern society, especially considering the role that such self-determination played in the creation of our republic.

My point is that if you're going to deride federalism because some states disagree with you, then I can offer some very big examples of where liberals love the states being able to set their own draconian laws. My problem is that those liberals want to take those laws, which the states (partially, I believe certain laws in NY, NJ, and CA regarding having to prove a "need" for a firearm to be unconstitutional) have the power to pass within the constitution, and give those powers to the Federal Government, which does not have said powers as per the constitution.

The SCOTUSes for the last 100 years have been travesties of justice, and have stretched the Commerce Clause out so far as to attack federalism at it's very root.

I have a different perspective on the matter of those weapons laws' constitutionality, namely that they could be justified as such, but as for the alleged tendency of American liberals to ascribe more power to the federal government where it doesn't have it I'd say it comes down to the Court's decision on whether or not said ascriptions can occur. And in regards to your allegation that its' members have for a century denigrated federalism, I'd have to look at what the effective powers of the states are now in relation to the federal government and their areas of competency. It may be that all competencies are consumed by federal power and the federal government has the power to alter the nature of the states or other characteristics completely.

What's the point of even having a Bill of Rights in the first place, if states can disregard it whenever they feel like it?

They Can't (2. although when it comes to the second amendment, leftists and SJWs sure love to think that they can), 3. but, may I ask, Is anything about someone with a neurological and mental disorder being able to use a restroom based on their 4. "gender identity" rather than their biological sex 5. ANYWHERE in the constitution? 6. 5. 9th Amendment, 14th Amendment. Also, Title IX, which, while not a part of the constitution, is pre-existing federal law that prevents discrimination in education on the basis of sex and/or gender.
