THEME

There is greatness to be found in our history. One only has to look. Men and women; myths and legends; fables and fact. Those who faced adversity, insurmountable challenge, with bravery and iron will, and whose names even today withstand the test of time. Some would call them heroes. I know them for what they truly are. A variance in what is human. Times are ever changing, slowly but surely, and the need for greatness, for a new age of heroes, is only just beginning. And what of you? A nobody. Less than nothing. An unknown outlier on the fringe of society. You were never a hero, but your time has now come to leave your mark, and I will guide you should you heed the call. And for me, well, my name is unimportant for I am only the catalyst for a better future, but know that what I say be true. Greatness is returning and you will be its herald. I look forward to our meeting.


Welcome to Seattle, Washington. For the last century or so the world has slowly come to terms with the existence of men and women possessing powers and abilities beyond comprehension, Variants, and though not entirely a foreign concept in the modern era these outliers still remain uncommon. But not for much longer. The number of Variants has slowly been increasing for better or worse; a potential disaster in the making. And what of you? Well, you're a Variant (or a would-be hero of some skill) that is not famous, not saving the world every other weekend, and most definitely not doing anything other than making ends meet. You are a nobody, and yet you have been contacted by a mysterious man, the Benefactor, and for whatever your reasons may be you have made the journey to Seattle. The first step to becoming something more.

As stated above the world is very much the same apart from the fact that, throughout much of known history, people of great importance have been Variants. Leonidas of Sparta. Vlad III of Wallachia. The genius Nikola Tesla. American bull moose Theodore Roosevelt. To name a few. They and many more were outliers that greatly influenced history. Variants may not be the norm but society is not blind to their existence. A few have even gained fame or notoriety, but that is the exception rather than the rule.
01: OP/Co-OP's have final say. No exceptions.

02: OP/Co-OP's reserve the right to deny any application for whatever reason.

03: No God-modding or Meta-gaming.

04: No taking control of another PC or Major NPC without permission. Minor NPC's are of no concern.

05: One character per person unless given permission. Multiple characters that work as a set (siblings, allies, friends, etc.) are more likely to be accepted than those with no connection.

06: No player controlled factions.

07: Posts must be one paragraph at the very minimum. One-liners are unacceptable.

08: Use correct grammar to the best of your abilities. Continued use of horrendous grammar may result in removal.

09: Be civil in the OOC. Debates are fine, but shouting matches are unacceptable.

10: Keep it PG-13. Mods should not be flagging the RP because of gratuitous violence, swearing, or other topics.

11: No overpowered characters. No exception.

12: Try to be active should you apply. No need to be online 24/7 but don't join, make one post, and then disappear for a month. Your character will be killed off. If you will be offline for whatever reason then leave a note in the OOC and your place will be saved. On the other end of things don't post to such a degree that no one else has a chance to respond.

13: Have fun. Or else.

NAME: The thing on your birth certificate.
ALIAS: A nickname, pseudonym, superhero name, etc.
NATIONALITY: Where are you from? No aliens.

ALIGNMENT: DnD style, except instead of Evil you'd be more of a Rogue.

ABILITIES:
This is your superpower. Be as descriptive as possible so that there is no question as to what you can or cannot do. Only one power per hero. An additional power may be granted if you ask and that it somehow relates to the first. Be original. No need for eight PC's with the same abilities. OP/Co-OP's can veto any power that is deemed overpowered. A weakness is a must for powerful abilities (your personality does not count). There will be room for some growth. You do not need an ability if you are more a Batman rather than a Superman.

FEARS: What scares you more than anything else.

A young woman with mid-length blond hair, blue eyes, and a sharp face. Somewhat taller than average and lanky. Rather average in terms of looks. Bags under her eyes. Prominent front teeth. Hides face beneath hair. Dresses very casual.

ALIGNMENT: True Neutral
OCCUPATION: Intern at Atlas Corporation, Student at Seattle University

ABILITIES:
Cyberkinesis. Can manipulate electronic devises via a telepathic link (stronger connections formed with closer proximity) after which she can override normal user input. This allows Miranda to control simple electronic devices with a mere thought, though more complex systems may require a moment before full access can be gained. Any machine can be controlled to some degree so long as software is present, and even then control is limited to what the CPU can accomplish. Once in control Miranda may input her own commands or, utilize sensory devices (speakers, cameras, microphones, etc.), or destructively force her way into the software's code which may lead to corruption. Connected systems are vulnerable from a single entry point.

BIO:
Miranda was born in Seattle, Washington, and for much of her life has had a special love for electronics despite their tendency to act strange when she was near. With the dawn of the information age and personal computers the girl quickly discovered that, with effort, she could control anything with a microchip, something which only furthered her love for electronics. Her parents were less than thrilled but supported her regardless. Eschewing a healthy social life in favor of following her passion Miranda would quickly become well adept with building computers and writing code, something she would pursue following her acceptance at Seattle University. Not long afterwards she would gain an internship at the local headquarters of Atlas Corporation in the IT Department. Miranda does not advertise her abilities but neither does she hide them.

Miranda was one of the first to be contacted by the Benefactor and would play an important role in getting his message out to the other Variants. She has since become something of the Benefactor's aide despite her limited motivation to do good in the world. Despite the workload she has maintained a good standing at both school and in her internship.

ATLAS CORPORATION: A major biomedical corporation based in Seattle, Washington. Aside from being a primary producer of civilian pharmaceuticals, Atlas maintains several research labs within and outside the city, the nature of which are not publicly known. These sites usually possess above average security.

the SYNDICATE: A little-known but powerful criminal organization based in Seattle rumored to have ties to the Sinaloa Cartel. The Syndicate is responsible for the movement of money, drugs, illegal firearms, and human trafficking all along the western coast of the United States. The organization has successfully refrained from drawing unwanted attention to itself, but is likely accountable for several disappearances and murders over the last ten years.

VARIANT: Any person born with unexplainable abilities that range from the supernatural to the strange. The term has since become a catchall to refer to heroes and villains both with or without powers.

BENAROYA HALL: A concert hall in downtown Seattle. Sits adjacent to the Metro Bus Tunnel and directly over the BNSF Railway tunnel, a primary rail corridor for the city.

the BUNKER: A small complex built in the 1980's before being abandoned. It has since been rediscovered and converted for the use of the would-be heroes and serves as a base of operations as well as providing basic amenities. It is located in SoDo alongside the Duwamish Waterway in the Industrial District of Seattle. From the outside the Bunker would appear to be nothing more than an abandoned warehouse. The lower levels of the complex can be accessed via a hidden entrance and passcode, and a secondary entrance can be found connected to the city's storm drainage system near the river.

CENTURY LINK FIELD: A multi-purpose stadium and the home of the Seattle Seahawks.

LEDA'S FLOWERS: A flower shop owned by Leda Orenstein. Hoa "Blake" Nzuyen works here.

PACIFIC SCIENCE CENTER: Built for the 1962 World's Fair, the PSC is a museum and popular attraction in Seattle.

PINECREST CENTER: Forty-eight stories tall, the Pinecrest Center is a modern but modest building, construction having finished in late 2008. Aside from offices and other public spaces, the tower acts as the current HQ of Atlas, however, no actual research takes place here and is merely utilized for financial, human resources, and other means.

PIONEER SQUARE: An old neighborhood and former heart of Seattle. Art galleries, cafes, and other attractions can be found here, and the area has become a popular location for nightlife. Union Station can be found here as well.

SAFECO FIELD: A baseball stadium, used for baseball.

the SPACE NEEDLE: An icon. Be a shame if something happened to it.

the TWINS: A popular nightclub in Downtown Seattle that is unofficially owned and operated by the Syndicate. On the surface the club seems unassuming enough, but hidden within is all manners of illegality ranging from gambling, drug trafficking, and prostitution. The Twins is often frequented by members of the Syndicate, most notably Mike Cross, son of Anthony Cross.

WI-FI & CHILL: A local internet cafe in Fremont with a skewed customer base consisting of mostly poets, artist, and hipsters. Has the best white-chocolate mochaccino in Seattle. Located on the corner of 15th and Leary.

ALIAS: Blake
NATIONALITY: Canadian
ETHNICITY: Vietnamese
AGE: 25
APPEARANCE:
Blake is Vietnamese. She is rather short, standing at just over 5'3", and is average weight. Sharp faced with almond eyes, a small but pointed nose, and a mischievous smile. Eyes are dark. Black hair is messy and cut short in a messy bob. Tan skin. Has several piercings including nose (ring in left nostril), tongue, and multiple ear piercings. Petite. Dresses like an artist. Typically has a tulip behind her ear.

ALIGNMENT: Chaotic Good
OCCUPATION: Starving Artist, Worker at Leda's Flower Shop

ABILITIES:
Density Manipulation. At will Blake can alter her body's density, becoming lighter than air or as heavy as a boulder with no apparent lasting ill effect to the body. However, temporary effects are immediate. Low density softens the body, making Blake both flexible and prone to injury including but not limited to strains, bruising, and fractures. Becoming lighter than air allows her to float, but without adequate means to propel herself true flight is near impossible. Alternatively a higher density hardens the body, limiting movement capability while gaining an increased tolerance against blunt force trauma. She is not invulnerable but a high density allows Blake to withstand crushing amounts of damage. Pain reception is not affected and Blake can be knocked unconscious regardless.

SKILLS:
Blake is a decently talented artist, preferring wet/dry media (paint, charcoal, etc.) as opposed to sculpture, yet she is rather adept at flower arrangements due to her job. Knowledgeable in useless trivia. Somewhat intelligent when she applies herself. She is fluent in both English and Vietnamese.

WEAKNESS:
Easily distracted. Not very athletic or skilled in fighting.

GOALS: To be famous.
FEARS: Becoming a failure and being forced to move back home with her parents.

EQUIPMENT: N/A

PERSONALITY:
Very friendly and physical, to the point of being regarded as promiscuous, and tends to come across as ditzy due to her antics. Accepting and open minded. Tends to stay positive no matter the situation. Deep down, however, she worries that she will fail to make it on her own. Very rarely her positivity will slip and Blake will break down. Can be defensive but doesn't hold grudges.

BIO:
Hoa Nzuyen was born in British Columbia, Canada, to successful parents, both of which had emigrated from Vietnam years earlier for school and work. The eldest of three children, and the only daughter, her childhood would be rather normal despite her parents' strong identity of their homeland and the subsequent clash of cultures. Bright and cheerful, Hoa would face any hint of adversity, rare as it was, with a smile. Primary school would be an important time for the girl as Hoa would both discover her love of art and her latent abilities. While playing outside with friends during the winter a car would lose control, and Hoa, panicked, would freeze in place where she was only to be hit. The car suffered extensive damage while Hoa escaped with no major injuries, however, for several minutes after the accident the girl was unable to move and unable to be moved due to an extensive and unexplainable weight. After being released from the hospital Hoa would discover that she could change the density of her body with enough concentration, a power that she would keep hidden from her family for years to come if only because she was uncertain of how her parents would react. Regardless, Hoa would spend considerable amounts of time mastering her control of her ability.

After high school Hoa would encounter difficulties with her parents, they disagreeing with her pursuit of art and wishing instead for their daughter to join the medical field as they had done. Wishing to prove her parents wrong, Hoa would attend Seattle University for a degree in Art, an experience that would cement who she is today, including the pseudonym of Blake given to her by friends while drunk at a party. Graduating with good grades, Blake would remain in Seattle so as to began her career in art, however, after several years she has yet to make any notable progress. Currently she works at Leda's Flower Shop, owned by the friendly but odd Leda, and lives in a studio apartment on the city's westside. Money always being an issue, Blake is fearful that she will be forced to move back home, something which her parents would never allow her to live down. After receiving the Benefactor's invitation, and having no reason to disregard it, she accepted with the hope that something good would happen.

Lives at the Russell Park Apartments in Fremont, Seattle.

PERSONALITY:
The Benefactor is curt, but chooses his words wisely so as to inspire those working beneath him, and clearly has ideals regarding the current state of the world despite his polite mannerisms. Wise and with strong leadership skills.

BIO:
Not much is known about the Benefactor - not his face, position, or reasonings - but the man quite obviously has access to both funds and intelligence, but despite these definitive traits his identity is impossible to pinpoint. Other than what he discloses the Benefactor is an enigma. His goal is unclear, but he claims that a new age is dawning, and that he wishes to steer humanity down the correct path.

OCCUPATION: Elementary school teacher in a rough neighbourhood

ABILITIES: Tim is a long-lived person. Well, that’s an understatement. His body is unable to age properly. It doesn’t really wither, it just keeps going. And going. And going. He doesn’t have a strong healing factor, and he can be killed just as easily as any other foot soldier. He is no more resilient than your next guy. He is just unable to die from ageing. This means he has lived through the ages, having seen much of the world and her history from inside, but always as a prospector. Never as an active participant, save for the normal duration of his life. Since the day he should’ve died, he has travelled the world. He has attended quite a few universities, helped people during the Great Plague, saw the fall of Constantinople, and witnessed both world wars from inside the nations. He learned quite a few languages, some of whom have changed drastically over the years. And he has lost, he has lost so much.
SKILLS: Tiberius has used his longevity to learn. He has travelled the world, learning from all the masters in their arts. He learned painting from Da Vinchi, studied the stars with Gallileo, spoke about special relativity with Einstein. His intelligence is his major skill.
WEAKNESS: He has lost quite some enthusiasm. For him, time is a glacier which passes slowly, taking with it everything in its path. He is sick of watching people die, watching the world spiral again and again into loops of her own chaos. For all his longevity, he is quite slow, taking his time with everything. Also, he is no real hero. He can die just as easily as anyone, just not from age or disease. A doses of radiation or a fall from kitchen steps will kill him just as easily.
GOALS: None. Observe the world. He will outlive every single person on earth, so he will either find another immortal like himself, or he will live out his days watching the earth pass by like some giant social experiment, until the day the sun dies out or the universe crushes in on itself.
FEARS: Death, and the slow passing of everything he knows. The world has changed so radically… Also, he fears to forget. He has only loved a few times, but already he fears to forget it all. All the people he cared for, all those he loved.

EQUIPMENT: None, really. A normal apartment, teaching supplies, and a library filled with books from his own hand. Historical works, not ready to be published yet for a long time. All written in Latin.

PERSONALITY: Very enthusiastic towards youngsters, but the older you get, the more detached Tiberius becomes. To those who want to learn, he can be quite friendly. To most, however, he is off-handed or absent, although never completely hostile. Time heals all wounds, after all, and Tiberius literally has all the time in the world. Bad people vanish, and goodness remains. He has a lot of faith in human beings, although they can also heartily disappoint him.
LIKES: Gardening, especially some immortal plant species. Traveling, too, and teaching.
DISLIKES: Games. He knows a lot of games, but no-one alive knows the rules. Historians and archaeologists he likes, too, because they come closest to all the people he used to share a life with. Sci-fi he likes, too, just to see if their predictions come true. He hates historical movies, though, because they both remind him of the past, but also remind them of how much people have forgotten about time.

BIO: Rome, during the Caesarian civil war. Six youngsters, adults in the eyes of Roman society, all no older than 25, stand around a fire. They are republicans, pure of heart and high of birth. They have decided that the Roman republic deserves to see the dawn of a million more days, so they close a pact. With some ritual, unexplained by science or magic, they make a vow. They would not die until the Roman republic was restored fully, until the SPQR ruled again, and until the Law of the Twelve Tables was followed again in all the Latin world. These six, four men and two women, gave their blood to the fire, and promised to fulfil their vow.

The first of those friends was early to fall. He was part of the plot to assassinate Caesar, and was subsequently executed by an angry mob and veterans of his wars. He would never know the truth behind their blood sacrifice, as the others would. As time passed, and as the rule of Octavian progressed, they felt it in their bones. They turned 30, 40, 50, and still, they looked as young as the day they turned 25. Their children soon became older in appearance than them. When their children started to die, as well as their children’s children, the five friends started to figure out what was going on. They all tried desperately to get Rome to return to her former glory, but all it did was get one more friend killed. Another man died on the orders of the emperor Tiberius, for inciting rebellious fervour. From that moment on, Tiberius Vetus Herrenius would use the name Vetus more than Tiberius. He also discovered a love in one of his co-immortals, Caecilius. He would spend the ages with him, from that moment on.

The ire of time was soon upon them, and the entire Roman empire. Civil wars ripped her apart every few decades, while Barbarians encroached ever-more on her fragile borders. A third friend of theirs died on the frontier, where she had been working as an advisor to a general. The three survivors all too the simultaneous decision not to get involved into politics or events ever more. They would simply observe, and learn, and write. In this peaceful triumvirate, Julia, the third survivor, entered into romantic relations with both other immortals. Their love would last for quite a while from that point on. The three of them would travel the world, visiting the library of Alexandria, the Great Lighthouse, the temple of Zeus, Byzantium, Rome on multiple occasions… And even after the fall of the empire, the three went on. The Dark Ages were tough on them, so they spent most of their time in the Arabic world, where learning and culture were still booming. Mathematics and early medicine they learned there, knowledge that came in handy when the Great Plagues of Europe started.

Even immortals have their fears, though. Although she had been running from death for over a thousand years now, the Reaper finally caught up with Julia during the 30 years’ war. She was killed by a marauding band of Swedes, who had savagely used them before killing her. Her two lovers were heart-broken, and would spent the remainder of their time together lamenting, while trying to fill the void of what she had left. They couldn’t and Caecilius took it hardest upon himself. During the Napoleonic wars, after the Battle of Borodino, he took his own life with a pistol. Tiberius was left alone.

He tried to fill the void, sure. He shared his love with plenty a normal woman, and normal men. However, compared to his wisdom, his knowledge, they were all so small to him. Their minds were so small, so tiny, he could never come to truly love someone. In the end, before the passing of the 19th century unto the 20th, he gave up. After seeing all his lovers die, he could take no more. He cut off all personal relations, and began devoting his life to science. His library was filled to the brim by now, and still growing. He owns several houses all over the world, and most of them are filled with his own history books. He wrote on mathematics, chemistry, history, language and medicine, and attended many universities, again. Eventually, he combined his knowledge of the world with a desire to somehow contribute to the world. So, he began teaching. First at a university level, but when his fellow professors started dying, he took it down a level. He never stayed too long in one place, for fear of being discovered as an immortal. Germany, the Netherlands, France, Britain, China, Japan, Congo, Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Mexico… Until the finally arrived in the US a mere three years ago. He got a job in Seattle, and now lives out his days teaching young ones. In his home, however, there are still two portraits he cares the world for, one in the style of Baroque, and one in the style of the late Rococo painting. A man and a woman, looking distinctly patrician.

ALIAS: Bloody Mary, previously Mother of Death.
NATIONALITY: Mexican.
ETHNICITY: She's half Nahuatl, half Mexican.

APPEARANCE: Here. She's 5'4, weighs one hundred and eighteen pounds, and has grey eyes that she hides with bright yellow contact lenses. She often paints herself in a traditional "Day of the Dead" makeup, and was known as the "Mother of Death" in Mexico and South America. She has a tongue piercing and ritual scarification in a pattern that runs from below her breasts until her waist, horizontally along her midriff.

ALIGNMENT: Lawful Evil.
OCCUPATION: Ex-Mercenary; the Benefactor's Second-in-Command.

ABILITIES: Maria's primary ability is that of Haemokinesis: The ability to manipulate one's own, or alternatively, other's blood. She can move it around, change its composition, and just generally control it if she is within her range of a person. Her favourite use of this power is for torture, as she is able to exsanguinate people, either extremely quickly or extremely slowly by having the blood in a person's body forcefully exit it by its various orfices; pores if she so desires. However, despite the strength of her powers, they exhaust her both physically and mentally after an extended period of use, and due to the strain of using them, prefers to use other methods of combat, relegating her powers to emergency use against other superpowered people, and even then, only when she absolutely needs to.
SKILLS:
  • Combat experience. Maria has served in South and Central America, alternating between a revolutionary for FARC and a hired gun for the Sinaloa Cartel, before signing on with a fake identification and worked as a mercenary for the Assad Government during the early days of the Syrian Civil War. She is used to shooting and being shot at, and is calm and confident in combat situations, as well as being a trained shot.
  • Leadership. Maria, on multiple occasions while working for FARC and the Cartel was put in charge of a number of special operations for both, and has both expertise and a natural flare for organizing and leading tactical groups of men or women around.
  • Loyalty. Maria, being the Benefactor's second-in-command, is one of the few people who are actually privy to the Benefactor's ultimate plans. She believes in him and his ideas to a radical degree, willing to die for him if need be. This leads her to act as a person that the Benefactor can trust almost implicitly. It also leads Maria to perform questionable acts that would normally be considered corrupt or immoral to ensure that the Benefactor's plans are seen through. To some degree, she acts as a commissar, intimidating those that she commands, but also leads them in an effective manner.
  • Rudimentary medical experience. Maria has been shot a number of times, and has seen a large amount of other people get wounded in her service to the numerous organizations that she's worked for before. She has rudimentary training in patching someone up if need be, including stitching and tourniquets.
WEAKNESS:
  • Loyalty. While her loyalty could also be considered a strength or a skill, it also occasionally works against her. Those that she believes in the most could potentially blind or lie to her, easily manipulating her to go against even what she might have originally believed in. As well, it could compromise her survivability, clinging on to a lost cause even when it's clear that there's no chance of redemption or victory.
  • Her intimidatory tactics. Her employment of torture, intimidation, and other harsh disciplinary measures in order to get what she wants or to keep those under her command in line can garner her animosity from those under her. She takes the Machiavellian concept of "Iron Fist Ruling" to a fanatical extreme, and leaves the "Velvet Glove Ruling" to her superiors.
  • Her intelligence. While she has an average intelligence, it is purely that; nothing warranting special attention. While this may not necessarily be a weakness in a world where she didn't have to interact with Variances, in one where she does, it may occasionally be a detriment to her abilities when facing those that have artificially higher or mutated intellects that are much greater than hers.
GOALS:
  • In the long term, she will do anything to see through the Benefactor's plans, which she believes in wholeheartedly.
  • Short-term, Maria wants to organize an effective and coherent force in order to carry out the Benefactor's orders.
FEARS:
  • Death. There's nothing Maria fears more than death. She believes that there's nothing after life, and that she wants to experience as much as she can before everything ends for her.
  • Failing those that she views as her superiors or heroes.
  • Alligators and sharks. Fuck those things.

EQUIPMENT:
  • A VKS Sniper Rifle. Acquired during her time as a mercenary working for Assad's government against the Free Syrian Army. She deserted her mercenary company soon after gaining the rifle, along side a fairly large amount of ammunition, to move back to Mexico. She has thirty-five rounds in total for the gun, though the ammunition is incredibly rare to find in the United States.
  • A Finnish M/39, effectively the late-model Mosin Nagant. She has a Mr. Yuk sticker on the bottom-left side of the stock, and has a number of ticks etched into the wooden portions of the gun, most of them near the pistol grip, though they cover the entirety of the pistol grip and extend onto the stock.
  • An Ithaca 37 Stakeout.
  • An Israeli IWI Jericho 941 Pistol, chambered in .45 ACP Hollow Point with "Mihcailhuitl" inscriped on the left side of the slide, which means "Day of the Dead" in Nahuatl.

PERSONALITY: Maria could be best described by the term "stern". She is a natural leader, with experience as a militant, guerrilla, and mercenary, and finds personal enjoyment in leading a well-oiled, effective team towards objectives, and can be seen as an extremely capable mid-tier leader. She is skilled in organizing a small group and having them executing orders given to her. She is, however, extremely cruel at times, and has no mercy for cowards, disorgnaization, or most non-Variants. She has no moral qualms, using her powers or otherwise, to torture those that she believes could give her information that could further her cause or complete her orders. When in combat she is cool, calm, and collected, but it masks extreme anger that, while she can control, often manifests itself after combat ends. Maria also has somewhat of a superiority complex, thinking that she is better than most Variants, and that in turn Variants are genetically superior to standard humans. She has a hard time making friends or any real social connections, more by choice than not, and prefers to be on her own when not leading.

WEAKNESS:While Beruk is immortal, he is not indestructible. While he can morph into an animal that can sustain more punishment to a human, all things can still be killed. His regeneration has its limits, as well. While it can heal most injuries, if he loses too much blood, too fast or its a critical area, he'll die just the same as anyone else in that situation. He also has to be conscious to regenerate as well. If he is knocked unconscious while injured, his survival will depend on the medical expertise of those around him.
GOALS: Money means nothing to him and he's seen what happens to those that cling to power. He's enjoyed his many years of walking the Earth, and he plans to live for a few thousand more. His only goal is escaping death.
FEARS: Death

BIO: Biruk's was born during the infancy of the Human Race. He was raised in one of the first modern human Hunter-Gatherer bands that roamed the Horn of Africa. Biruk's powers were discovered early on in his childhood, making him an almost Godlike figure in his group and in neighboring groups. However, these groups wouldn't last, as one by one, the groups migrated elsewhere or simply died out. A drought finished off the few that remained, starving out Biruk's group, leaving him the sole survivor of his people.

Ever since then, Biruk has travelled the world, either transforming into an animal few paid attention to, or changing his appearance to match with the locals, becoming apart of the community, sometimes starting a family, and "dying" before moving on to the next location. Biruk has witnessed many highlighted points of human history, but for the most part has stayed out of them, seeing them as useless endeavors whose consequences will be undone within a generation. Throughout the years, though, he takes an active point in events, but not out of some common goal or a true belief in the cause du jour, but simply out of boredom. He's been all over the world, from one of Xerxes Generals during the battle of Thermopylae, an Imam during the Crusades, an advisor in Mansa Musa's Court in the Mali Empire, and aiding Simón_Bolívar in his fight for the independence of many South American Countries from Spain.

Currently, Biruk is in Seattle, in a country he hasn't seen in a hundred years. While the changes would shock anyone else, Biruk has seen even grander changes before, visiting Rome in its infancy, coming back again as it controlled the Mediterranean, and hundreds of years later as it fell. He's not there for any cause. Just continuing his journey throughout the world.

Psuedo Solid Energy-Manipulation: By absorbing various natural and man-made energy sources such as electromagnetic radiation, electricity, heat, light and to a lesser degree, sound and kinetic energy, Lucio is able to harness and store this as energy potential which in turn, can be channeled as 'pure solid energy', a blast that carries immense kinetic and heat power and manifests itself as a bright blue beam. This energy can be applied in various ways, for instance, they can be cast as individual 'bolts', fired in a straight path, or be used in a 'wave'.

SKILLS: A highly intelligent individual with a degree in Biochemistry and Advanced Particle Physics and a natural problem solver. Also Fluent in both English and his native Italian, and is a half decent cook.
WEAKNESS: Not really a 'fighter' and would rather stake out alternative options to a conflict than physical violence, is highly arrogant and is also rather clumsy and haphazard.
GOALS: To find a way to harness the true potential of his powers.
FEARS: That his powers will become 'uncontrollable' or use them in such a way that it's detrimental to the health of others.

PERSONALITY: Somewhat Arrogant and has an inflated sense of self worth, but has a sense of responsibility due to his powers and is willing to push the boundaries of his mental and physical strength to find out the peak of his powers. Aside from his he is upbeat and constantly tries to keep himself occupied with research and doesn't tend to dedicate much of his free time to social events, perhaps even reclusively so.

DISLIKES: Science Fiction movies, Social Gatherings, Manual Labor and Heights

BIO:

Born on Long Island, New York, to a family of Italian-Americans in a rather affluent household, his mother and father owned a joint business venture in an authentic Italian cuisine restaurant, a popular one at that. Growing up, Lucio would never want for anything and was a spoiled child, attending a private school for the 'gifted' and would be driven around town in a luxury sports car, but despite all this, his parents still expected for him to learn to make his own way in the world and his first job was a simple kitchen porter at his parents restaurant, it was aa gentle nudge down the path that his parents had planned for him, that plan being for him to eventually take over the reigns one day, but Lucio had other aspirations and plans.

A bright student by any standards, Lucio grabbed top marks in many classes, especially the Sciences, and dedicated most of his free time to reading books about Astronomy to Atomic Theory and everywhere inbetween, often neglecting anything resembling socialization, but it didn't matter, because it would all pay off. Aged 18 he enrolled into the University of Columbia and studied BioChemistry and Advanced Particle physics, inbetween this he got an odd job as a waiter whilst he studied. During this study he attained a job at a Medical Company based near Seattle, this is where he would move to after finishing up his Degrees.

OCCUPATION: Delivery man - Shane has a large well of experience navigating crowded and complex cities on a bicycle. His many years delivering paper messages and packages to some of the underground elite in Tokyo has shaped him into a concise, quick, and dependable deliverer. In Seattle he chose to take up the same profession, and now runs messages and packages to people within the city.

ABILITIES: Shane has the ability to psychically manipulate metal in a way that allows him to construct and deconstruct machinery. When actually using his power he goes into an immobile state, and is able to move around metal and plastics in order to make things. His eyes begin to glow blue, and the pieces of machinery that he is manipulating take on the same blue hue. In order to create complex machinery he needs to know and understand the process in which it would be pieced together manually, which he uses his advanced knowledge in engineering to determine.
SKILLS: Shane has advanced knowledge in mechanical engineering, knowing how to take apart and put together a plethora of contraptions. He can think very quickly concerning the ability to come up with new things to make, and uses his creative and inventive mind to his advantage when using his power.
WEAKNESS: Through his years he has learned to trust very few people, however when he does finally come to trust someone he does so with a fierce loyalty. This makes him very distant, until he becomes very overly invested. This leaves him open to betrayal, should someone be able to gain his trust.
GOALS: He wants to make a better life for himself. After getting a new start in the US, he only wants to escape his past and make something better.
FEARS: His past. While he had many good times his knows he made some enemies back there, and he is mortified of the day they choose to track him down.

EQUIPMENT: He carries a few odds and ends in his pockets, just in case he needs to make something in a clutch situation. Other than that and the clothes on his back he doesn’t carry much.

PERSONALITY: Shane is an avid conversationalist, enjoying calm and relaxed encounters with fairly anyone. He learned when to listen and when to speak, and in situations he can’t shoot his way out of he is normally able talk his way out of them instead. He finds his power a trivial part of himself as he has grown used to having it and only using it in non important ways. It has been years since he has attempted a mass construction of anything and so he normally lays his power on the back burner, preferring to learn more about who people are rather than what they can do. He has a heavy touch of sarcasm tossed into him, however underneath all of his barriers he is truly a dependable person and friendship is something that he values greatly.
LIKES: Good people, conversation, canned soup, sarcasm, and honesty.
DISLIKES: Being betrayed, led on, or lied to. He also dislikes arrogance and is constantly attempting to keep his own ego in check, never wanting it to get in the way of what is important.

BIO: Born in the U.S, Shane was taken to Japan at a young age. His mother and father had gotten into one final final fight that broke up the family and with his father’s blind rage that fateful night his mother had won custody of Shane who was 4 at the time. She moved to Tokyo, and he was raised there with her. He went to Japanese schools, learned the language as his own, and had Japanese friends despite his different skin color. His mother worked every job she could find and so Shane, as he became older, began to become aware of his mother’s struggles to put food on the table.

With a feeling of guilt in his heart and want for something more for his mother he began to seek work at the age of 14, finding his way unknowingly into the underground workings of the city. He took a job delivering messages and packages for one of the minor drug lords, and the community began to recognize him for his talents at being quick and concise, however this would all change when he was 15.

The incident happened when was returning from the delivery of a package. A car was fleeing the authorities, and in the driver's panic the car was set on an irreversible path toward a older woman. Shane was unable to anything as he watched the car speed toward her slow and frail body, or so he thought. Without even thinking his hand shot up toward the car, unchecked energy flowing from him. The car was then deconstructed midway through its path before the pieces were dropped on the ground. Shane, unsure of what had happened, fled the scene and became determined to discover more.

He used the money he made from delivering to keep him and his mother fed, clothed, and warm, using his spare time to study for school and to work on his power. He discovered quickly that not only could he take things apart, but that he could put them back together. Once graduated from high school at the age of 18 he went to college on the money he made, going for a major of mechanical engineering He made it out of there at the top of his class, and at that point decided to do more with his life.

Once out of college he told his crime bosses that he was done delivering packages, and that he was leaving. Only a few in the system knew of his power, and so when the time came to leave they were the ones who convinced their bosses to let him go, not wanting to risk confrontation. He moved back to the U.S. and has come to Washington to make a new life for himself, hoping to escape any who might follow him from Japan. He has cut all ties with his prior employers, and has no intention of ever trying to go back to them, nor to use any of their resources.

When he reached Seattle, he picked up a job running messages and packages to people, however he chose to do so with legal organisations this time. He does only simple deliveries that they wish to keep out of U.S. Postal Service as they are within the city, and receives only meager pay for it. He wants more but doesn’t know where to start, as his is scared to use his power to achieve wealth and fortune.

Alright, I'll add that in soon enough. Why he would hear him out... There is still some hope in him he'll find someone who knows his pain. He has a desire to help somewhat, although that desire is largely supressed. I can imagine that, without anyone there to remind him of that pledge, he will give it one more try.

As for the grammar... As well as I try, English will probably always remain but a second language to me. I'm trying to improve, though!

I don't mind the grammar that much. It's still readable and, as you said, you're still working on it. More so pointing it out. As for the reasons, that works. Go ahead and add that sentence whenever you can.
