Tokyo, Japan, March 11, 1940 at 12:00 noon
The Empire was holding a massive parade today, as today was the day that the Empire shall start a war to unite the Pacific under one banner. Soldiers upon soldiers were parading the streets singing praises about the Empire. A million people attended the parade that day, due to many of the people in Tokyo getting the day off. The parade stopped at the Imperial Palace, where the Emperor made a speech at high noon.

He said, "The Empire has reached a new golden age. Our Empire shall expand its borders to encompass the Pacific Ocean and unite all people under the Imperial Banner. Our glorious Empire shall become the single power in the Pacific and shall bring joy and happiness to all its people. It is time that the vision of the Virgin Mary becomes fulfilled and the legacy of our ancestors realized. This shall be the war to end all wars! This is the start of a new era! Thee War Begins NOW!"

Forward Operations Base, Bering Sea, March 11, 1940 at 12:01
The commanding officers had received word for the invasion to begin. The Imperial Air Force had deployed its bomber and fighter squadrons to attack enemy artillery and AA batteries. A massive number of aircraft took off from the Forward Operations Base and started heading into battle. The Naval ships that arrived with the Juggernaut just hours prior, started firing at the North Amwellian coastal fortifications, as the soldiers were on their way to North Amwell's coast at the closest point between Asia and North America.

Flagship Yamato, Superbattleship, First Invasion Fleet, somewhere in the Pacific Ocean March 11
Admiral Yamato was contacted by his communications officer, Yamato said, "So, the war has begun?". The CO replied, "Yes, sir. The forces in North Amwell have been given the signal to start the invasion." Admiral Yamato then said, "We shall give the war our all. The Emperor himself has given us the assurance that we shall win. Our fleets are getting close to our destinations. We shall soon prove the superiority of our nation over all others. ALL AHEAD FULL!"

Alexandria, District of Washington, 5:15 PM Eastern Standard Time
President Hertzer is sitting down and drinking his evening coffee when his General Secretaries of State and Defense, accompanied by Chief of Staff of the Army General Coughlin and Commander-in-Chief of the Navy Admiral Holland.

"Gentlemen, what is all the commotion for? says the President. Mr. President, about 15 minutes ago we got word from North Amwellian authorities that the Dragomerians have launched an assault against their coast on the Bering Strait. No ground force yet, but they are still subjected to naval and air bombardment. Sir, this is the war we have been dreading for the past ten years." said Admiral Holland. "Sir, if I may, now that the Dragomerians have taken the offensive, we need to commit. I've been saying this at every ATCO meeting for the past eight years. It is time." says General Secretary Henry Cambridge. Has this message even been verified?! President Hetzer says while in a state of shock. Yes Mr. President, we had it decoded three times before we sent it here." says General Coughlin. Then, then I suppose we must tell the nation. says the President in a very low tone. "Issue standby orders for the Armed Forces."

Joint Pacific Command, Bremerton, Washington 2:50 PM Pacific Standard Time
Admiral Fowler is conversing with the other Admirals about plans for the new Detroit-class heavy cruisers when a Seaman enters with a telegram. "Sirs, you need to hear this! At 12:01 Alaskan Times, Dragomerian naval and air forces attacked the west coast of North Amwell, targeting North Amwellian military facilities." Admiral Fowler looks at him with shock. "They hit us now?! We should have seen this one coming I suppose.... Ah Jesus, what's the situation on the fleet? Another admiral speaks up "Sir, most of the Pacific Fleet is at anchor here in Bremeton, Seattle, Victorian, Vancouver, Everett, and Astoria. We got a few smaller ships a few hours steam out in the North Pacific. But sir, we have the battleship North Dakota and a few escorts headed to Midway to offload a garrison of Marines. Admiral Fowler then issues his orders. "Get a destroyer and a cruiser squadron to the mouth of Puget Sound, we need the protection. We are going to need those submarine nets at the mouth of the sound as well. As soon as the rest of the fleet is in port, we can wait for orders from Alexandria."

The Royal Palace, 12:10 PM
Flandre would be returning from lunch to her Royal Duties. She looked over her schedule and sighed. "A Meeting here, A Errand there...It bores me sometimes-" "Excuse me, Your Majesty; I come to bring Urgent news from the Foreign Relations department." One of Flandre's servants Interrupted the Queen. "Go on..." Flandre replied. The Servant took a deep breath. "Five minutes ago Dragomeria Declared a State of War with North Armwell, if not the ATCO. Intelligence reports that the Dragomerian Navy is currently bombarding North Armwellian Positions in Alaska." "Then we must head to the war room, inform the advisers and have them meet me at once." Flandre said. "Yes, Your Majesty." Replied the Servant.

At 12:30 PM, Flandre Declared Total Mobilization of all Military Forces and announced in a speech five minutes later, at 12:35 PM, that the Shogunate shall go to war with the ATCO on the side of the Dragomerians. At 12:45 PM, Flandre had a Telegram wired to the Dragomerian Emperor, Declaring Scarletean Entry into the War.

NRS Intrepid, Panama Canal. 1:00 AM
Emperor Andrew Cuomo was on the Imperial Yacht when he got word of the Dragomerian invasion on North Amwell. He had called an emergency meeting with his cabinet where they would take several hours deciding what they should do.

4:00 AM
The Emperor has decided that the New Republic will not send troops but will close the Panama Canal to the Dragomerian Islands and their allies. He will also send supplies to ATCO to assist in the war effort. The NRS Colombia has been deployed fromthe fifth fleet to the Pacific side of the Panama Canal. Imperial Rangers are going on a recruitment drive so they'll be able to better protect the Emperor.

The Grash administration was anticipating the upcoming war. The military production plan put in place by the ATCO has been activated, opening factories throughout southern Canada and mining operations in northern Canada in the case of a pacific war. This has been met with minimal opposition from the opposing political parties. Canada has declared war on the ICPS.

Chancellor Halter Grash has visited the Canadian Senate Chamber. The press listen to his every word.

"Citizens of Canada, our fears have been confirmed today. Earlier this afternoon, the Dragomerian Islands mounted a surprise attack on North Amwell, and has been backed by the Scarlet Shogunate. Washinton and the New American Peoples Republic have thus far pledged aid to North Amwell. I have enacted the joint ATCO production plan, opening the dormant southern factories and encouraging as many men as are willing and able to join the mining projects in the north. Though our numbers may be small now, the Senate has confirmed that our allies can not be allowed to fall, and if they do fall, it should not be said that we did nothing to fight the aggressor. Canada is at war. In the coming months, I and the Shield Party will be working to enact a conscription bill. All Canadians capable of fighting this threat must do so. Our plan is to enter the fighting itself by '43. The strength of the ICPS will be met with the might and will of the ACTO."

The Chancellor exits the Chamber and returns to his administrative building. Upon his arrival, he instructs his guards to leave him, and makes a phone call.

"Miss Heria, I do apologize for calling late, but it seems that our date this evening will have to be rescheduled..."

HIMANESE DESCISION IS STILL TRAPPED IN THE ASSEMBLIES

Postby Himana » Mon May 16, 2016 5:27 pm

ULAN BATAAR; House of the Republic [Lower House] and The People's National Assembly[ [the Upper House] 12:33 AM

In the Glorious People's lower house, or the House of the Republic, many of the Representatives of the many Mongol and Manchu Provinces are voting for a war with ATCO, but the Upper House, the People's National Assembly many of the Senators are voting for a war against the ICPS; thus creating more and more conflicting interess, but in the meantime the Military of the Mongol and Manchu United Mongol Socialist Republics united, 10 million strong, marches in all of the cities of Himana. The Premier knows something is coming, yet he can not act without the affirmation of the Assemblies. The People's Socialist Government has not a clue whether to join ATCO or ICPS, as the Kurultai [Dep. of Justice] has not bid in its own views. What can be assured is that HImana is stocking up her military, and is looking into new forms of warfare, especially after the Department of Military Science recieved funding in the 30's, and new technology was being spurned out of the Himanese state, there are many rumours that Versail and Himana are developing a new weapon with an element called Uranium.

Premier Nêrra Invited Leaders of ATCO and ICPS to the Assemblies to Try and Persude Himana to Join

Premier Nêrra 3:43 AM:

"It is certain that the Glorious People's Red Army will march all through a foreign land, but we can not know for sure which land this may be. With this in mind, we must also protect our soil. We have allies, and we also have enemies, but we do not know what our descision may be. We ask of the ATCO and the ICPS to send dignitaries to persuade the Himanese state to join, as either side will have the eternal fury of the Mongol Armies, which have been modernized and trained to kill. For the past hundreds of years since the end of the Mongol Empire, we now must remerge as power, and we will to either side, as either ATCO or the ICPS will be able to wield the Immortal fury of the Khans, and will the spirit of Genghis! Only one side can stand!"

As president Harrison is sitting at his desk in a stressed manner with a half empty bottle of bourbon next to him one of his advisors on the national defense committee runs in to his office with a look of shock and fear.
" Mr. president we are under attack, we have our eastern cost being shelled and a invasion force on the way".
" the day I have dreaded has arrived, I guess there is only one thing left to do. Put the country under martial law and get every military unit ready to go to war. I want our air force to start targeting any naval vessels that isn't ours. we may not be able to stop them but we sure as hell kill a bunch of them. I need to speak to the nation get every broadcasting system ready". President Harrison says.

" what will you say"? says the advisor.
" just get it ready".

" Citizens of North Amwell, I have just been notified that our country and our sovereignty is under attack. I have no fear that we will not be victorious in this engagement for I ask upon every able bodied citizen to take a rifle and fight for your homeland. I ask that you be courageous and don't lose hope in what our country stands for. I ask that god may bless our military and anybody who stands as a country united, to defeat the wolf at the front door. I know for a fact that you, the citizens of North Amwell wont surrender until you cant do anymore and that's why I am not scared. we must preserve for our children and our children's, children the right to live a free and prosperous life. may the next time I speak to you we stand victorious. Good night and may god bless us all."
the President gets done with his speech and out of his window sees the convoys of troops and aircraft going full speed to the east coast. the closer he pays attention to the city the more citizens he sees preparing and barricading the city for war. the Amwellian secret police escorts the president and other high officials to a undisclosed bunker where he will meet with the military's leading generals and get a more specified plan on how to deal with the threat posed from Dragomeria.

Darkmount, Ascoobis, March 12, 1940, 06:45 PST

This was a regular morning for Ascoobis' capital. Children were heading to public schools, their parents were driving their way to work, and many people were commuting on the public transportation system to accomplish the day's various tasks. This was seen from the ethnic enclaves such as Little Dragoni and Washytown to the vital lifelines of the Financial District and the Darkmount Military Complex alongside the shoreline.

Sitting in relative silence on one of the many balconies of Imperial Tower was Emperor Carlos Jimenez. Who was having his usual morning coffee, imported from Liberatin, and watching the bustling of the denizens in his capital. At 60 years of age, he had the foresight to know that a ruler was to enjoy these sorts of mornings. Overhead the roars from two patrolling Ascoobians fighter-planes were heard. As far as Emperor Jimenez was concerned, all was right this morning.

Suddenly, a group of government officials came storming into the balcony calling for the immediate attention of the Emperor. Knowing that his peaceful morning was ruined, he irritably turned his attention to his bumbling inferiors.

"Yes, yes. What is it now, you imbeciles."

One of the four, a short fellow, stands to face the annoyed monarch.

"Your majesty! The worst has transpired! The Dragomerian Islands has declared war North Amwell. The Imperial Dragomerian Air Force and Navy are overwhelming North Amwellan defenses. The Scarlet Shogunate has announced their aid."

The dreaded news shook the usually steely Emperor. He quickly regained his composure.

"And what of our allies? Of other countries? The ATCO has come to the aid of North Amwell, have they not?"

The second one, one of several of the Emperor own political experts confidently responded. "Yes sir. As of now, Washinton has declared there navy on standby, but has not issued an official declaration of war. North Amwell vows retaliation and perseverance. Himana has offered its services to either side. America has announced blocking of ICPS trade in the Panama Canal. Canada has been the only to officially announce a call to arms against the invaders. The ATCO strategy has yet to be united."

Still recovering from the impact of this new dilemma, despite his strong image.

"Well, that is some good news. We will send dignitaries to Himana. Anything else? What of Cerma?"

The news correspondent from the Ascoobian Telegraph, the last of the three decided that it was time to speak.

"Yes, your excellency. But no response from Cerma. Many countries, especially in Europe, have declared neutrality. The news is just reaching the ears of the Ascoobian public, but we at the 'Graph are requesting an Ascoobian response. If we hurry, we could still make the morning edition and broadcast. How will Ascoobis respond to the aggression?"

Emperor Jimenez allowed the question to sink in and then proceeded to shape history.

"Ascoobis will honor the promise that it and the ATCO made to North Amwell so long ago. Ascoobis shall raise its forces to battle the invasion threat. Dragomeria and their puppet allies should have known better to have awaken a Sleeping Serpent. There is your piece, now please leave. I now have a very busy morning here."

He proceeded to raise his finger to his Director of Defense to silence him until the nosy reporter had left. He did not wish to discuss any future war strategies in the presence of the opportunistic press. He dropped his finger once the reporter left.

"Now Director, let's discuss strategy. What forces are at our disposal at the moment and what do we have to do to reinforce them?"

"My liege, Our Army and their reserves are able to mobilize at a moment's notice. However my analysts predict that it would take some time to properly setup our supply lines and increase the production in our factories. In the meantime, what would you need us to do?"

Considering his options, Jimenez responded.

"Firstly, send word to our Pacific bases immediately. They're are our front-line. I trust their ability to hold onto their ground until we know the size of the force that will be confronting our bases. Secondly, as I do not predict a major ground engagement against the Dragomerian Army in the very near future, we must move our major factories from the coastal city regions to the mountains along the Continental Divide and the Mojave Desert to protect them from any potential Dragomerian attack on the mainland. Thirdly, begin a recruitment campaign to occupy the jobs that these factories will open scientists to begin research into arms technologies. Fourthly, have all Ascoobian nationals in ICPS territory as disowned by our government, not that there are many. They can not be allowed to be used as bargaining chips by those dishonorable warmongers."

He looked over in the direction in which Little Dragoni lies before relaying his final command.

"Also, when the 4th Reserve Army is mobilized, have them round up all Dragomerians in our cities. We cannot allow possible disloyals or even traitors to walk our streets feeding information to our enemies. Wait until the dead of night to commence in this Operation....Glazed Glass. Now on a lighter note, please invite our top economists here. We must now begin to develop a successful war economy and our ability to trade with our friends in Europe. I will be looking forward with relations with Taralus, France, Oakwall, and Raffaellica.".

The Director left to accomplish his firsts tasks of the war. First stopping at telegram station to contact the sleeping commanders on Hawai'i, Bikini Atoll, and Baltra Island with the news flash of their lives.

Alexandria, District of Washington, March 12, 1940, 10:30 AM Eastern Standard Time

President Hertzer is walking down the hallway in the Congressional Hall towards the podium where he is to give his speech to the country. The broadcast is being recorded and broadcasted by every major news network in the country. A shaken, yet confident President Hertzer steps up to the podium as his aids and General Secretary of Defense and State take their seats in the back row.

"Yesterday, on March 11, 1940, the world has seen the shattering of relative peace for the second time in 26 years. The nation of North Amwell was attacked all so suddenly by the Dragomerian Empire. For years we tried to shield ourselves from the reality that war would come again. For years we tried to ignore the approaching storm that was forming in the far off waters of the world that we thought would never hit us. The past 24 hours have meant the shattering of those allusions of ours. Our world is now torn asunder, our peace stripped to pieces, our lives now at risk. For us, the time has come to finally defend our nation against the dragon rising from across the Pacific. We must stand shoulder-to-shoulder to fight off the approaching beasts that are the Dragomerian Islands and the Scarlet Shogunate. In this hour, we ask our lord to give us the strength, the wisdom, and the courage, to wage this terrible war. If this is our darkest hour, we must rise to the challenge and take this threat head on! This is why I ask the House of Representatives and the Senate to declare a state of war between the Republic of Washington and the alliance of the Dragomerian Islands and the Scarlet Shogunate! I would also encourage our allies in the ATCO to also declare war and save our fragile Allie to the north from this aggression!

President Hertzer's speech is broadcasted throughout the nation and receives overwhelming approval of the general public. Congress votes 68-0 in the Senate and 147-3 in the House to declare war on the ICPS. Later that day, President Hertzer is in his cabinet with the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff, the General Secretaries, foreign diplomats, and other key military and economic advisors. President Hertzer enacts a draft to conscript young men to swell the ranks of the nation's rather small armed forces.

Hertzer then speaks "Gentlemen, we are now in a peculiarly bad position. Our fleet in the Pacific is vastly outnumbered, our standing Army cannot sustain operations on foreign soil in it's present state, and worst of all, we have island bases at the mercy of the Dragomerian Navy. What are we to do?" Admiral Holland then pipes up to the President. Sir, with all due respect there isn't much we can do to protect our island bases, especially Wake. Worse than that, we are outnumbered against the Dragomerian fleet that will be sailing towards North Anwell. On top of that, we have been alerted to the presence of the Super-Yamato-class and one Juggernaut operating there. If we were to lead some sort of counter attack, traveling across miles of ocean, we could be slaughtered. Our newest battleships could deal terrific damage, but they are new and too few to risk. Our older battleships need an overhaul to compete. We can't lose on a 1:1 ration, if we do it would mean no way to protect our coastal facilitates. As for our carries, we have to conserve them as best we can, we can only predict that the new Hudson-class will be launched as early as 1942. However sir, we need our other new, smaller ships. I'm talking about the Detroit, Bellevue, and Toronto-class cruisers, the Irwin-class Destroyers, and the Alexandria-class fast Battleships." Army Chief-of-Staff General Coughlin speaks when Holland finishes. "Sir, the Army is also in need of a refit. The likely invasion point is to be from the North, from any captured North Amwellian territory. We need to organize an expeditionary force as soon as we can because otherwise the North Amwellians will not last long. We need to ramp up uniform production, small arms, aircraft, tanks, trucks, you name it, we need it. We are going to have a long and bloody ground war sir, and we need all the men we can get."

As the meeting wraps up, President Hertzer strikes a deal with the automobile manufactures, locomotive companies, tractors producers, and rail car assemblers to end civilian production of products by April 3, 1940 and begin the production of war material. Cities like Detroit, Milwaukee, Kent, St. Paul, Indianapolis, Green Bay, St. Louis, Gold Stadt, Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver will become the economic backbone of the country as it goes to war. A draft is called, getting over 250,000 men called up for service and voluntary enlistment surges.

Invasion Force, Bering Sea, March 11, 1940

The invasion force started landing its troops onto the shores of North Amwell. Above the invasion force, hundreds of Japanese 'Zero' aircraft were flying overhead, while 300 Ki-49 Heavy Bombers started releasing their payload upon North Amwellian fortification. The Imperial fleet in the area was focusing its firepower on the shores, but was also on the lookout for approaching enemy ships. The Juggernaut in the area had each of its heavy guns aimed at the enemy shores, awaiting the slightest hint that enemy troops were approaching the landing zones. The Imperial forces were impatiently waiting for their chance at glorifying the empire. The invasion forces soon landed on the shores and started securing the shores, while on the look-out for North Amwellian resistance.

(OOC: I am not sure if I should include the attack on Wake Island yet)

Imperial Radio Broadcast, International, March 12, 1940

A voice was heard over the radio. That voice said, "Hello, I am Emperor Ryū. I am glad to announce that the Empire has decided to liberate those of North Amwell from their outdated and unjust government. The Empire will gladly incorporate the people of North Amwell into our great, powerful, and just society. Only through us shall they achieve true freedom. It is time for a united Pacific under the Rising Sun. The unstoppable force of the Rising Sun shall liberate the Pacific and lead to a new age of prosperity, an age without poverty, war, or injustice. The Rising Sun shall prevail! the Rising Sun was foretold decades ago and is becoming reality before your very eyes. All those who stand against the Rising Sun will be destroyed by its brilliance!"

OOC: The Rising Sun is a fairly obvious reference to the Empire itself.

Fort Lewis, Washington, March 13, 1940

Lieutenant General Ellertson, commander of Army Command West and General Coughlin, is now tasked with forming the new field armies, corps, and divisions that the Army will use to fight the war at hand. The plan is to mobilize around 66 divisions to fight the war in North Amwell as well as leave a sizeable reserve. The plan is to field a total of 50 infantry divisions, ten armored divisions, three airborne, and three cavalry. For the meantime however, only one Field Army in the west, the 1st Army consisting of I Corp (1st and 7th Infantry and II Corp (2nd Infantry, 9th Cavalry, 1st Armored) is available for deployment in the west. The next newest batch of recruits and material goes directly to the 1st Field Army, everyone else will form the next divisions that are being raised and trained. They hope to have the 1st Field Army ready to be deployed by April 1, 1940.

M4 Sherman production takes over from the M3 Lee in an increasing number. The Detroit factories they were built for the M3, are now turning over for the M4 and M4A1 Sherman. One factory in Detroit is being converted to make the M10 Tank destroyer and another in Milwaukee. The demand for small arms skyrockets as the Army prepares for war. So much is so that weapons like the M1928A1 Thompson are being redesigned to allow for easier manufacturing. New weapons that were in the process of being tested and quickly sped up get field ready models for production.

Army Air Forces have begun fighter sweeps over the pacific Northwest s well as out into the Northern Pacific, looking for the Dragomerian fleet. More and more fighters are ordered daily to meet the demands of the Air Force who are receiving new pilots daily.

Wake Island Naval Air Station and Marine Base

Wake Island has been abuzz with activity since North Amwell was invaded. Marine Fighters from the airfield are sent up for longer patrols due to the position of the island relative to the Dragomerian Islands. Marines spent the last few days trying to reinforce the islands defenses. With only a battalion of Marines of the 4th Marine Defense Battalion, consisting of only 400 infantry and no tanks. Their pillboxes, coastal guns, and radar stations are camouflaged with the limited material on hand to do so. Admiral Fowler plans on sending another fighter squadron to Wake on board the carrier ROWS Arlington (CV-2) while being escorted by the carrier ROWS ROWS Erie (CV-7) and battleships ROWS Chesapeake (BB-25) and ROWS North Dakota (BB-24) which will rendezvous with the fleet off Midway. Cruisers ROWS Windsor (CA-38), ROWS Spokane (CA-39), ROWS Bellingham (CL-12), ROWS Saskatoon (CL-15), and ROWS Sioux City (CL-18) along with 12 destroyers will be escorting.

The fleet has begun to map spots where to set up mines and submarine nets in the Strait of Juan de Fuca, Puget Sound, Haro Strait, and Rosario Strait. They begin to plant make it so that submarines would not be able to penetrate to the harbors and sip sinking in the ports. Naval float-planes have begun patrols looking for submarines in the area to alert destroyers to their presence.

As scientist in the Üls Tškir bunker watch through protective goggles, they see an eerie mushroom cloud shoot up from the dark orange desert, of which this cloud of fire outshines even the brightest of stars. Himana has a new weapon for itself and its allies. Khan Vombša [King of all Bombs], the weapon of the Khans, and fury of the UMSR. The world sees now the fires of hell, and brightness of heaven. The cosmic sun has been achieved, and the rights of the thousands bow to the heed of the Solar destroyer. "Himana has created its own undoing," prophesizes Scientist Dr. Ūrlānšam. The fury of a thousand kings now is in the hands of the Mongols. "Jš ił küe, Jš æc srotsriskala yatzikolonisky ya vaâ," "I have become death, I am the destroyer of worlds."

No nuclear weapon attacks will be "scored" (registered as RP canon or recognized in battle) in this conflict on any side unless all parties agree to its use as a means to end the role-play. Any attempt to use nuclear weapons or similar weapons on combatants will be ignored and may result in your expulsion from roleplay.

Flagship Musashi, Yamato-class Super battleship, Second Invasion Fleet, 15 km from Wake Island, March 15, 1940, 4:30 am

The Second invasion fleet was approaching its target. Using the cover of the early morning, the invasion fleet was going to invade Wake Island using the morning sun as a symbol of the start of the battle that would start the largest naval war in history. It was 4:30 am, when the carriers started having all their fighters and bombers take off to perform a bombing run on the islands. The battleships of the fleet started shelling Wake Island. The attack on the island officially began as the first ray of light appeared as the morning sun rose.

OOC: the aircraft were launched at 4:30, but the attack did not begin until the sun started to rise. The invasion force is using the literal rising sun as a symbol.

Wake Island Naval Air Station and Marine Base, March 15, 1940.

Taking an imminence barrage, the Marine defenders of Wake take cover in their bunkers and small trenches as they are hammered by ships and aircraft. The few coastal 5-in guns operated by the men of Battery A, 14th Coastal Artillery Battalion of the Army stationed with the Marines do what they can, trying to target the the smaller ships as they feel they could do more damage to them.

The Marine Fighter Squadron based on Wake are scrambled after the first attack wave is detected by radar on the island. All 16 F4F-3 Wildcats were sent up to challenge the incoming bombers. Outnumbered, they try to attack from above to gain the advantage.

Meanwhile, Task Force 1, consisting of the carriers ROWS Arlington (CV-2) and ROWS Erie (CV-7), battleships ROWS North Dakota (BB-24) and ROWS Chesapeake (BB-25), five cruisers, and 12 destroyers get word of the early morning attack and prepare to launch a strike of their own to try and save the island. The Marine Fighters on the Arlington will be joining the fight and may end up landing on Wake later.

[spoiler=Post!]Darkmount, Ascoobis, March 15th, 1940, 09:45 PST

Parts of Darkmount's downtown area lie in rubble. Soldiers and tanks of the 4th Reserve Army is patrolling the city streets. In the last several days, the largest ethnic purge in Ascoobian history occurred in response to the Dragomerian declaration of war on the ATCO. Many thousands of immigrant Dragomerians and native Dragomerian-Ascoobians, relics from the good relations that both of the nations had previously shared, had been taken into custody in the name of imperial security. Operation Glazing Glass was launched to gather all Dragomerians within the country, the epicenter of this movement was in Darkmount. The area most deeply effected was the ethically homogeneous neighborhood of Little Dragoni in Darkmount, where the city-wide roundup began. Which resulted in many deaths and much collateral damage, including a local Torri being down by a charging Panzer III tank. The military's Operation Glazing Glass is expected to be a total success, at least after remaining stragglers are found. Unconfirmed reports say that unauthorized civilians aided in the in the military operation, bloating the rather high death toll.

Decagon, Ascoobis, March 15 1940, 15:33 PST

Emperor Jimenez was in a conference office in International Tower. With him were the head of major Ascoobian manufacturing, car, airplane, and synthetic oil manufacturing companies; including the Racing Drome Corporation. They are close to coming to an agreement to allow the manufacturing and development of Ascoobian weaponry in private factories, as well as the military ones already under construction.

However, the representative of the Racing Drome Corporation was still nervous about one of the terms. Relocating their factories from coastal industrial region to the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

"My Emperor. Surely it would expend to much resources, cut too much profit, to relocate the factories."

The Emperor felt his irritability increase. He was sure that he had gone over much of this before, but simply sighed and decided to do so again for this person. Whom he now considered a brainless idiot.

"Perhaps, Mr. Adamson, you would prefer it that a Dragomerian juggernaut pummeled your shoreline factories into oblivion or that they were nationalized by the Ascoobian Government. That wouldn't be good for business. Now would it?"

Relieved that he had finally gotten through to the scoundrel, evident by the shocked look on the executive's face. Now Emperor Jimenez sought to close the deal.

"Now, it is agreed upon that all factories be moved East, companies will be held responsible for the loyalty or disloyalty of their laborers, companies will attempt to the fullest of their ability to assist government research efforts?"

He received no objection. Although the nods of affirmation were hesitant.

Iacon University, Ascoobis, March 15, 1940, 16:00 PST

General Francis Romel stood at the steps of Iacon University's Tahoe Observatory. Preparing to give a speech to the youngest of Ascoobians youngest minds and assure them that they too can join the war effort. Preferably without joining the front-lines or ending up with menial work at a factory. With the Emperor occupied in Decagon, it was up to him to delivery the government's message of inspiration.

"Ladies and Gentlemen. You can be Ascoobis' best hope for coming out of this war victorious. Yes everyone of you. Not by how accurately you could shoot a gun or a naval turrent, but by how well a rocket functions or the qualities of new alloys. Tasks that fall upon you, our best in their fields. The Emperor, your friends, neighbors, families, and the nation itself depends upon the effectiveness of the use of your brilliance. Employment booths will be set for volunteers to join the research teams of Ascoobian companies and the Government itself. Thank you."

A loud applause was given.

Pearl harbor, Ascoobis, March 15, 1940, 16:30 Hawaii-Aleutian Standard Time

Admiral Chester W. Nimitz confidently stood on the command bridge of an aircraft carrier in Pearl Harbor. In the last three days he had done much to prepare Ascoobian Pacific defenses for an anticipated Dragomerian assault. Patrols by aircraft and submarines are to be made 150 miles from the bases 24/7. At three hours a patrol. Each patrol consisting of five individual units. Ensuring that a patrol cannot easily be destroyed and that any assault will not catch Ascoobian Pacific bases by complete surprise due to reconnaissance done by the patrols. The 10,000 soldiers at his disposal have been ordered to entrench themselves on their respective islands should the Ascoobian Navy not have the ability to hold off a Dragomerian invasion.[/spoiler]

From behind the smoke screen, the cruisers continued to fire their guns at the shore, knowing that when the smoke clears they would have to find a new strategy. two destroyers and a cruiser were damaged from the enemy artillery.

The Marines now come under the withering fire of the Musashi. Their large 18-in guns blast craters into the island, including the airfield. The Coastal guns begin to take more direct fire, knocking even more out. This leaves only seven 5-in/51 caliber batteries operational around the island out of the 14. A handful of batteries try and target the Musashi but it proves fruitless. The armor of the Musashi proves to be too thick for the armor piecing shells of 5-in/51 caliber batteries.

The smoke screen obscures the vision of the gunners on shore, who try and pick out targets. They hold their fire until the smoke begins to clear, then they spot a light cruiser that appears to be within striking distance. A gun battery on the western half on Wilkes island takes a shot at it, hoping to hit an exposed torpedo rack.

The Marine aviators press their attack. In the ensuing battle, the Marines shot down five enemy bombers and three A6M Zero fighters, while losing seven fighters themselves. Two more G3M bombers are shot down by the island's AA defenses. Despite their efforts, most of the Marine fighters eventually run dry of ammunition or take too much battle damage to continue.

Task Force 1 prepares a strike force to attack the Second Invasion Fleet's ships that are holding Wake under siege. They prepare their torpedo and dive bomber groups as well as their fighters to try and relief the base. The first off the deck will be that of the 3rd Marine Fighter squadron who are taking of flight deck space on the Arlington.

The flagship continued to bombard Wake Island in order to take out the remaining batteries. The other battleships followed their flagship's example. Many shells flew through the air impacting areas all over the island.

The cruisers that were firing at the shores noticed that the enemy artillery started firing again. They started to retreat beyond the range of the enemy artillery. The ship the enemy initially fired at was not so lucky, as the enemy hit and caused the detonation of one of the cruiser's magazines, blowing apart the back half of the cruiser.

The imperial aircraft started taking advantage of the decline in the enemy aircrafts' performance and started engaging the enemy with even greater force. The bombers continued on their mission to level the remaining enemy forces on Wake Island. They were to clear way for the imperial forces to occupy the island.

The bombardment continues to shake the island, Marine forces are still being hit hard by the constant naval gunfire. The shore batteries begin to fall silent. Four more batteries are knocked out by the shelling from the battleships, with two more batteries running dry of ammunition. Only one battery on Wilkes Island managed to keep firing, but ammunition is scarce.

The Marine fighter squadron, now broken off have nowhere to land due to the cratering of the runway on Wake. Several damaged aircraft make ditched landings in the lagoon to avoid being picked up by one of the enemy warships. Only two Marine fighters remain airborne and they attempt to try and take down as many planes as possible before they are forced to ditch. The first combat for the Marine aviators has been a disaster so far.

Task Force 1 launches launches it's strike from the carriers ROWS Arlington (CV-2) and ROWS Erie CV-7). The attack consists of Torpedo Squadrons 2(Arlington) and 7 (Erie), Bombing Groups 2 (Arlington) and 7 (Erie), Fighting Squadron 7 (Erie) and Marine Fighter Squadron 3. The total force is 76 SBD-3 Dauntless Dive Bombers, 36 Douglas TBD-1 Devastator Torpedo Bombers, and 46 F4F-3 Wildcat Fighters.

The Admiral waited for this moment. With the artillery fire being now far lower in frequency, he called for troops to start landing on the island. The invading troops would round up the surviving enemy soldiers and put them onto one of the cruisers in the fleet, which would then act as a prison for the captured troops. Once the order was given, many landing craft were headed to the island under the continuing artillery fire of the battleships.

Wake Island Naval Air Station and Marine Base
With Wake's offensive capabilities destroyed, the remaining Marines realize the invasion is inevitable. With the let up of the barrage, the Marines begin to move into position to try an intercept the incoming landing force. They set up whatever heavy weapons they have left, M1917A1 Browning Heavy Machine guns, M2 Heavy Machine Guns, 60 mm mortars, 81 mm mortars, a handful of 37mm anti-tank guns and a few 57mm anti-tank guns . Army Coastal Artillery gunners, with most of their guns destroyed or out of ammunition, end up as riflemen. Naval and Marine technicians are also mad into riflemen as the need for shooters is desperate. Most are deployed around the perimeter of the island, stretched thin to try and try to meet the landing force head on.

The two Marine pilots, First Lieutenant Joseph Hanson and Second Lieutenant James Spears end up shooting down four more Dragomerian planes (two A6Ms and 2 G3Ms) before taking too much damage and finally ditching in the lagoon. They are fished from the water and prepare to assist in the ground battle.

The Task Force 1 aircraft take off from the carriers and head towards the Dragomerian fleet.

OOC: You can maybe after your troops land.
