  • This is the official thread for all Rosters / RP / Scores etc.

  • The official rankings for AOCAF 50 are located here: http://www.atlantianoceania.com/index.p ... entry24244
  • RP Bonus will be important (as always). Note that in the ViLC scorinator used for this event, RPs are given a slight boost on the matchday they are posted vs. subsequent matchdays. However, your ROSTER bonus remains constant and does not degrade as the cup proceeds. So I do advise getting your roster posted!

SEMARLAND NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM, OFFICIAL AOCAF 50 SQUAD

NATIONAL STADIUM - Natunolstadion, Jansberg, 86,000

Kits kindly manufactured by VUCTI Kits

STAFF:
Manager: Andreas Jansen, 44
A definite national footballing hero of Semarland, both playing wise and managing wise, Andreas Jansen became the first ever manager to lead Semarland to the World Cup finals. A somewhat surprise appointment following the resignation of Henrik Jensen, who has gone on to manage Molsbik Arkjet, fortunately Andreas Jansen stepped in. Having already done his coaching badges before, it came as a surprise that he was appointed so early yet being a qualified coach. He proved the doubters wrong as he lead Semarland into the World Cup group stages, via the playoffs after finishing second in their group, defeating Buyan in the aforementioned playoff in an inspiring second-leg victory. Then, he went onto the next world cup which Semarland qualified for again despite losing all group stage games (the same case with the previous AOCAF), but then he made up for that by leading the team to the semi-finals of AOCAF 49 - the furthest Semarland has been in any major tournament. With this special 50th edition, Jansen has decided to take quite an inexperienced squad - rather strangely.

Assistant manager: Tunde Ajayi, 46
46 year old Tunde Ajayi is no stranger to the world of assistant managing. Ajayi was previously the assistant manager at Eikborg Club for four years, leading them to higher positions. Capped by Semarland 28 times, scoring twice, in his playing days he often featured at centre-back or in defensive midfield, earning him the nickname “the brick wall.” Like Jansen, he’d be interested in remaining in the coaching setup for a while - maybe as a first-team coach or just as a general tactical coach. One thing that will delight the SFA is his experience and professionalism - despite his rather young age, he has been involved in coaching setups for eight years, since he was 34 when he retired due to a knee injury. As well as being the assistant manager of the side, Ajayi is also the head coach of FC Jansberg U14s, with his children Kunle and Ibrahim playing just a few age groups below.

First team coaches: Yohan Martinsson, 43 and Jermaine Latibeaudiere, 30
43 year old Yohan Martinsson was appointed first team coach at the 63rd Cup of Harmony to replace the outgoing Sven Niemstad. Initially, he was working alongside Mako Albrechtsen, retained from the previous backroom staff but after his departure for a couple of months he was the sole general coach in Andreas Jansen's team. Experienced for his age, for the past twenty-two years Martinsson has been working as a coach with excellent all-round abilities. His colleague was Raul Juarez of Farfadillis - who, alongside another Farf coach in Franco Fortaleza, has elected to miss this World Cup due to contract negotiations. Jansen, Ajayi and Martinsson all agreed on a temporary, perhaps permanent replacement in 30 year old Jermaine Latibeaudiere. Jansen knew Latibeaudiere who was formerly a Krsthaven player. A central midfielder, at 17 he unfortunately suffered a serious injury and had to retire four years later but has been working as Krsthaven's first team coach for the last eight years. Except now he is working part time as he will be spending this World Cup as part of Jansen's backroom team.

Speciality coaches: Martin Datheim, 45 (Goalkeeping), Johannes Pedersen, 47 (Defensive) and Jerome Taylor, 32 (Attacking)
Martin Datheim earned over 100 caps for Semarland, being their first choice goalkeeper since the tender age of seventeen but never really got his chances when Semarland entered the World Cup for the first time. Having only retired a few years ago he was an almost instant appointment to then manager Henrik Jensen's backroom staff replacing veteran Ulrik Lacht, now goalkeeping coach at Molsbik Arkjet. Defensive coach is Johannes Pedersen, uncle of former national team defender Soren, who had the stereotypical "hardman" reputation in his playing career. 32 year old Jerome Taylor is filling in for Farf coach Franco Fortaleza who is not with the backroom team for reasons mentioned, but he has been working as FC Kolberg's attacking coach for the last six years. He hasn't played at such a high level like Latibeaudiere, with Taylor playing non-league football until he was 23 when he quit and decided to become a coach instead.

Tactical coaches: Yohannas Rasmussen, 37 and Jamal Martinsson, 32
Previous tactical coach Johan Nikkelsen, 39 resigned after the Trindl Cup to return back to Eikborg Club and two new appointments have been made. 37 year old Yohannas Rasmussen is a more familiar name, having covered for Nikkelsen last World Cup who took paternal leave. Statistically, Rasmussen did a better job having taken over during the second half of qualifying and ensuring Semarland got to the finals. He will be assisted by 32 year old Jamal Martinsson - who, the SFA admitted was not the original candidate after Kangemark Sport's Marcus Haider rejected the role. There is no doubt that Martinsson is a tactical genius though, having worked with Krsthaven's U21s before working with FC Kolberg's first team. The duo will be looking to play fast, exciting and flowing football based on the wishes of Andreas Jansen and of course, the fans. To be fair we've always played exciting, attacking football but I guess Rasmussen and Martinsson are here to make it much more exciting.

Fitness coaches: Rasmus Karlsen, 43 (Lead), Jacob Denmark, 32 (Fitness) and Karmelo Ashton-Brown, 31 (Strength & Conditioning)
43 year old Rasmus Karlsen is a long serving member of the Semarland coaching staff, having worked with Henrik Jensen but his experience and enthusiasm led to him being retained by Andreas Jansen. As lead fitness coach, he will be overseeing Jacob Denmark and new appointment Karmelo Ashton-Brown who will both focus on fitness and strength & conditioning respectively. The trio will work close with the physiotherapists and doctors to ensure the players don't get injured easily, and Karlsen & Denmark have both done a good job these last few tournaments. Strength & Conditioning expert Ashton-Brown has worked at FC Jansberg, FC Nuholm and Sporting Saint Adrensburg and will be a major behind-the-scenes appointment.

Physiotherapists: Lars Mikkelsen-Schone, 44 (Head), Mats Borg, 46 and Segun Akinola, 30
Doctors: Stefan Tramsø, 51 and Åke Ulfsson, 43
50 year old Tobias Jensen-Moller decided to leave after his contract expired but Mats Borg agreed a new one year contract. Jensen-Moller's replacement is 30 year old Segun Akinola, who leaves FC Kolberg. Both will work under head physio Lars Mikkelsen-Schone who was one of the new members of staff brought in by Andreas Jansen & Tunde Ajayi when they were appointed in the 63rd Cup of Harmony. To be honest, Mikkelsen-Schone, Borg and Jensen-Moller did a relatively good job in connection with the fitness coaches and doctors and all eight members of the three departments are expected to do the same again. Doctors Tramsø and Ulfsson have been with the national team for almost ten years now and are well-valued and appreciated members of the medical and fitness team. Both graduated from the National University of Medicine with degrees in Sports Science and Sports Medicine and both are qualified and able professionals, as well as being popular with the players.

Other staff:
Performance analysts: Karl Jansen, 43, Tobias Mikkelsen, 32 and Blaise Jacobsen, 25
Head scout: Karl Sorensen, 44
International scouts: Mikkel Pedersen, 39, Soren Nathanielsen, 45 and Clarck Mbala, 27
Domestic scouts: Yoann Livimbi, 32, Mark Eriksen, 31 and Johan Martinsen, 43
Spokesman: Mikael Stevestad, 48

Overall a very young and perhaps experimental side named by Andreas Jansen, with Chalobah, Cisse, Tunde and perhaps Sambu the only players with regular national team experience. Marylebone, Romeo, Kristiansen, Jacobsen and Traore especially have been impressive for their clubs, whilst the likes of Parr, Britsen, Chimbonda, M'Bia, Nelson and the Claro-Hunt twins are several exciting young players looking to make a name for themselves on the big stage.

THE MANAGEMENT TEAM

Manager – Dario NAVAS, Age 45
With old Rami Niblick disappearing off into a glorious sky blue sunset, it's his former assistant who's taking the reins. He's a little more defensive than his predecessor, which is like saying that black is a little darker than hex colour #111111.

Assistant Manager – Cordell TATE, Age 47
Goalkeeping Coach – Michael VERDETTI, Age 53
Defensive Coach – Steven PRIMROSE, Age 48
Offensive Coach – Mark YAKIMOV, Age 51
Physiotherapist – Jessica NELSON, Age 47

THE SQUAD

Image
David HEATON
Age: 37
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Wexax United (VAL)

Emerged as a world-class shot stopper during World Cup 72. Wexax clearly liked what they saw, and he's still delivering the goods despite rapidly approaching forty.

Image
Marcus LYONS
Age: 23
Position: Right-back
Club: Bradwell Saints

Promising young talent, full of beans. He'll need them to fill the boots of Sam Barcali.

Image
Mitchell MITCHELL
Age: 27
Position: Left-back
Club: Ashton Olympic

The man with possibly the most unimaginative parents ever, "Mitchy Mitch" is a force to be reckoned with in the tackle.

Image
Jason DAVIS
Age: 31
Position: Centre-back
Club: Mercia Bromham

Tall and rangy, Jason Davis is the man you want heading the ball - at either end.

Image
Alfie XOUSA
Age: 28
Position: Centre-back
Club: Avidia United

Combining intelligence with pace, Xousa has developed an excellent working relationship with Davis.

Image
Samuel ALINAS
CAPTAIN
Age: 35
Position: Central midfield
Club: Avidia United

Simple, honest, hard-tackling central midfielder, with excellent distribution. A real fulcrum for the side to work from.

Image
VALRAUNCION
Age: Elf
Position: Forward
Club: Telecontarë (STB)

Ah, the infamous elf. Valrauncion is, at least for now, the only Krytenian international who can lay claim to a World Cup winners' medal. He made a home for himself in Ousevale over the years, and when Starblaydia withdrew from international football at the end of World Cup 57, the KFA made a cheeky request to naturalise the striker and offer him a place in the cyan. To their astonishment, he accepted. Now back where it all began for his club, the Cyan Army still knows that he may be a cock, but he's OUR cock.

Image
Marco ANGELO
Age: 30
Position: Right midfield
Club: Emberton Reds

Maturing like a fine Chablis, Angelo has bags of pace, and crosses well. The one downside is that he no longer has Ronnie van Rijn to aim at; the upside is that Alex Sampson has developed in a similar vein.

Image
Alexander SAMPSON
Age: 26
Position: Forward
Club: Ousevale Borough

Ronnie van Who of Where? Alex Sampson is banging them in for club and country, and we couldn't be happier.

Image
Armando ORTEGA
Age: 24
Position: Attacking midfield/forward
Club: Avidia United

Where to begin? Plays like the ball is glued to his feat, is completely fearless against defences...and he's still yet to reach his peak. Expect fireworks. And maybe Exocets.

Image
Adrian ANUZZI
Age: 28
Position: Left midfield
Club: Emberton Reds

Still yet to completely fulfil his tag as the "new Kiefer Lloyd". Captaining the Under-21s added some strings to his bow though.

Image
Mark RANKINE
Age: 27
Position: Central midfield
Club: Stanton Town

Looked to be heading for the scrapheap before Stanton took a chance on him; he's repaid that faith with a string of high-class performances in the engine-room.

Image
Marcus BAILEY
Age: 27
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Mercia Bromham

Excellent all-round talent; will be looking to wrest the green jersey from a certain D. Heaton.

Image
Neil DONNER
Age: 26
Position: Right midfield
Club: Ashton Olympic

One of the best players to come out of the Mother Bear City in years (Mitchell Mitchell was signed from Ousevale Juniors, so he doesn't count.) Loves to make full-backs work.

Image
Damiano MORENO
Age: 17
Position: Right-back
Club: Avidia United

Burst on the scene in the latter half of Liga Calania Season XV. Bags of pace.

Image
Scott PERSHING
Age: 27
Position: Central midfield
Club: Caledon Simpson

A late bloomer who's been turning heads. Will be hoping to get ahead of Sam Alinas in the team through his excellent pass distribution skills.

Image
Leo FLORES
Age: 21
Position: Forward
Club: Avidia United

Flores is, *ahem*, blossoming nicely as a striker.

Image
David HOLZMANN
Age: 27
Position: Forward
Club: Royal Emberton

Clinical in the box, but could do with improving his workrate off the ball.

Image
Rob ADAMS
Age: 24
Position: Centre-back
Club: Mercia Bromham

Cultured centre-half who feels most comfortable in a pressing game.

Image
Michael COKER
Age: 29
Position: Centre-back
Club: Leston Town

Ah, Leston, the City of Industry. No surprises, then, that Coker is a hard-working engine in the back line.

Image
Peter ALEXANDERSSON
Age: 22
Position: Left midfield
Club: Royal Emberton

Excellent crosser of the ball; not the fastest, if we're honest.

Image
Jason LEUTER
Age: 32
Position: Goalkeeper
Club: Casuals Osteria

Casuals do like to produce young goalkeeping talent; sadly Leuter is well back in the current international queue.

Image
John MARSHALL
Age: 25
Position: Left-back
Club: Ousevale Borough

A rough diamond, tends to be too happy in bombing forward and exposing the defence. Good skills on the ball, though.

LIKELY STARTERS
Heaton
Lyons - Xousa – Davis – Mitchell
Angelo - Alinas (c) - Anuzzi
Ortega
Valrauncion – Sampson

Home Away

Manager
Mikael Mannisenmäki Image
Age: 45
After several domestic and international successes with Alianza FC of San Jose Guayabal, he was targeted by the VSC to replace the outgoing manager given his similar tactics to most Vanorian outfits. With two cycles to work with, it is expected of the Polarian to bring the squad back into the latter rounds of the World Cup consistently as well as continued success in the AOCAF. A tactical mind with a high preference for offensive displays and a keen sense of rivalry, he should adapt well into Vanorian sporting culture and lead the side to greatness.

Assistant Manager
Alf Durand Image
Age: 63
Having won a pair of domestic championships with Ramusok United and coming off a brief stint in charge of the Armeia/Anglatia NT, Durand was chosen as a stopgap for the next cycle and someone who can be a guiding hand of experience for Mannisenmäki

Keeper

1 Aediron Galadirdren, Ibini FC
Age - 683
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 174 lbs
Galadirdren looks to be the long term solution for the Marauders in net after several stellar seasons in the domestic scene with Ibini FC. While not loud and "in control" of his box, the keeper is very good when the opposition has a breakaway, as well as some amazing reflexes. His best attribute though is his near perfect position, always seeming to know where the opposition is going to place their shots or crosses.

Defenders

2 Morlaithan Aldamiel, AC Izotz Zubia Image
Age - 696
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 162 lbs
A tough and quiet sort at the back, more physical than your usual Vanorian centerback thanks to the years that he has played in Audioslavia. More of a stay at home defender than the rest of the backline and more prone the occasional card due to the more physical nature.

3 Rainyardil Toraandal, Mar Sara FC
Age - 655
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 168 lbs
Toraandal is deceptively fast and agile for a person of his size and also very keen to get in on the attack during prolonged spells in the opponents third. With his size and pure athletic ability, he has a knack for getting open in the box and heading home his fair share of goals, though it is his stern defending that is the reason that he was put on to the starting eleven.

4 Revhil Lardireil, Hondo FC
Age - 654
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 171 lbs
Like Toraandal, Lardireil is used to getting into the attack, having spent the majority of his career at Hondo with their attacking flavor. However he has the speed of a cheetah and the strength of an elephant, most likely the most versatile of the three defenders that the side uses.

Midfield

21 Espy va Drake, 1830 Cathair Image
Age: 759
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 159 lbs
After becoming a folklore hero for the lower class of the world, va Drake has made himself one of the living legends of the game after help leading the side to a title in World Cup 53. He has traveled far and wide while plying his trade, donning kits for no less than five countries clubs. Seen as the driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hawk, it is up to the opposition to try and figure out how to deal with the brilliance the winger and his other attackers have rather than them to create magic.

6 Caeltimyonan Haerear, Mar Sara FC
Age - 614
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 163 lbs
Coming from Mar Sara you would expect Haerear to be more of an attacking option, yet the midfielder is more of a box to box playmaker than the attacking midfielders usually coming from the Flames. Not overly fast or physical but Haerear has a motor that never quits, never giving up on a play or a game despite how dire the situation may be.

10 Laborious Hawk, Dwile Warriors Image
Age - 723
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even begin to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day. Hawk simply strives to be the very best footballer, captain, and teammate that there can be, with the hunger for perfection driving him forth on and off the pitch.

8 Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar, Raynor City United
Age - 729
Sex - F
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 149 lbs
Lithvathar is much like va Drake, a floater who is dynamic in attack but with enough speed and sense of the pitch to make up on any sort of defensive lapse. Yet unlike her flankmate, she is not nearly as skilled, but do not let that fool you, in a moment of magic she can undress an entire backline and set up more prolific scorers with easy chances.

7 Faeron Soldarian, 1830 Cathair Image
Age - 637
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 163 lbs
Soldarian continues to live in the shadow of more well known players both on the national team and with his club. Despite this, Soldarian is seen by all on the squad as the emotional leader and the linchpin the in the middle that allows the more attacking minded midfielders being allowed to play their game.

Strikers

9 Allandren Fresco, Ibini FC
Age - 512
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"

Fresco continues to lead the line of the attack, being the tip of the spear that is the Marauders offensive movement. By now most teams know of the striker's pace and near laser guided shot, however the striker still somehow finds ways to bring in the goals.

A more finesse striker than what Fresco is used to being paired with, Tathtauré has the speed to run past opponents with plenty of dribbling skill to work around multiple defenders. While not as strong as Celetholtinu was, Galasgoldas can still play a hold up role in a pinch.

Lindmark national football team

STAFF:
Manager: Leon Korstensen (SEM), 43
Previously an attacking midfielder who made over 75 appearances for the Semar national team, and spent the majority of career at his boyhood club, Krsthaven, this is his only his third job. After leading FK Lindhaven to the title, the LFA appointed him as manager. Previously, he was joint assistant for Semarland B to Sven Svoldreik and Semarland U21 to Tomas Surensen when he was the U21s manager.

Assistant manager: Mattias Neuerstadt (SEM), 36
After being ruled out with a long term injury, the then Eikland Sport midfielder decided to take his coaching badges. Appointed temporary assistant to Korstensen at FK Lindhaven last season, he then became assistant to Korstensen for the national team. Now retired from professional football, he's now Korstensen's full-time assistant.

PLAYERS:
#1 - GK - Mattias Eklund - Age 31 - FK Nordsjaelland
#12 - GK - Erik Prada - Age 28 - Linqvist Town
#22 - GK - Jukka Kleinstad - Age 22 - Stonlund AFK
Reliable, safe handed goalkeeper Mattias Eklund is no doubt first choice for Korstensen, but Erik Prada and Jukka Kleinstad are solid backups. Prada is also eligible for the Naaroe Islands, the country he was born in whilst Kleinstad remarkably has been Stonlund's first choice goalkeeper since the age of 15.

#2 - DL - Marc Johansen - Age 28 - Midtjylland
#3 - DR - Johannes Petterson - Age 29 - Saint Johan Square
#4 - DC - Ronald Aleksson - Age 29 - Saint Johan Square
#5 - DC - Jacob Sundstrom - Age 31 - FK Lindhaven

#13 - DC - Axel Rasholm - Age 26 - Midtjylland
#14 - DL - Stefan Esborg - Age 25 - Stonlund AFK
#16 - DR - Rasmus Helle - Age 31 - Lindstrommer FC
#17 - DC - Peder Prebensen - Age 22 - Larstad Town Bay
Left back Marc Johansen and central defender Jacob Sundstrom have been core members of the team since Lindmark first appeared onto the international scene at AOCAF 47. Sundstrom is partnered by the robust Ronald Aleksson whilst his Saint Johan Square teammatee Johannes Petterson will start at right back. The impressive Stefan Esborg earns his first international callup backing up Marc Johansen, whilst Rasmus Helle remains second choice to Petterson. Axel Rasholm and promising youngster Peder Prebensen back up Aleksson and Sundstrom.

6 - MC - Yohan Borg - Age 28 - Stonlund AFK
#7 - ML - Soren Karlstrom - Age 32 - Tknevvik
#8 - DMC - Martin Sunde - Age 31 - FK Lindhaven
#11 - MR - Johan Clarke - Age 29 - FK Lindhaven

#15 - AMC - Lars Rasmussen - Age 29 - Nelshaven Town
#18 - MR - Mads Vinter - Age 26 - Askstad United
#19 - MC - Carl Markusson - Age 20 - Sorenstrom United
#21 - ML - Brandon Christiansen - Age 27 - Sorenstrom United
#23 - MC - Marc Lindroos - MC - Age 25 - Krsthaven (SEM)
Karlstrom, Sunde and Clarke are joined by 28 year old Borg who was part of the starting lineup last tournament, whilst youngster Carl Markusson will sit on the bench. Highly rated Marc Lindroos became the first Lindish player to move abroad after signing for Krsthaven, and he and Rasmussen will likely come off the bench to insert creative, attacking flair when needed. Karlstrom and Clarke are getting a bit old on the wings now, and Christiansen and Vinter look more than adequate replacements.

#9 - ST - Jonas Clarke - Age 29 - FK Lindhaven
#10 - ST - Knut Lindstrom - Age 31 - FK Lindhaven

#20 - ST - Peder Sorensen - Age 32 - Larstad Town Bay
There are only three strikers in the squad, FK Lindhaven duo Clarke and Lindstrom and Larstad Town Bay's target man Peder Sorensen. Each are all of good capabilities, with them being the top three goalscorers in the Lindish Premjaerdivisjon, but the younger and faster Clarke and Lindstrom will likely get the nod over Sorensen, who should feature a couple of times though.

Schiavonia announce their squad for AOCAF 50

After a moderately successful return the international scene (they reached the Cup of Harmony knockout stages), the Sloths (or, if you're Audioslavian, the Knobjockeys) make their first AOCAF appearance for absolutely bloody ages. Not much is expected of them, to be honest with you.

And the team? After being unrepresented for over half a century, a successful run to the play-offs for World Cup 68, the Sloths offered very little in their follow-up attempts at World Cups 69 and 70, when the squad became considerably more cosmopolitan, as Cafundelese and Garundi populations made their way to Schiavonia. Clearly, they didn't mix too well at first, but now they've spent 20 years together, they seem to be getting along a lot better. We think.

A GUIDE TO SCHIAVONE PLAYING POSITIONS

Schiavone football teams generally play in a 4-3-3 formation, but the different positions are not always referred to in normal terms. The goalkeeper (GK) and centre-backs (CB) are as normal, but the rest are not so clear cut.

The left-back (LB) and right-back (RB) are very important in attacking, and generally one attacks down the wing while the other one comes in and covers as a third centre back.

Ball winner (MB) is a midfield position that does exactly what you think. They sit in midfield to protect the defence and win the ball back for the team.

A distributor (MD) is a player with very good passing skills, and can switch play or unlock a defence with one pass, but can keep it simple if the situation requires it.

The creator (MC) is a player who runs at defenders with the ball before either shooting or, more often, laying it off for someone else to have an effort on goal. They are good at attracting defenders and so making space for team mates.

The runner (FR) is a player who can run away from defenders - either through pace or skill - and make chances for themselves and others with this advantage.

The strength (FS) is what most people would call the big man (or woman) up front. Good at holding off players, and generally decent in the air.

Finally, the finisher (FF) is a player who has an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time to stick the ball into the goal with an uncanny regularity.

So there you have it. A guide to the Schiavone style of playing football. Hope that was helpful.

So who are the Sloths? Well, they're a relatively young and inexperienced squad with one eye on the future...

TEAM MANAGEMENT
Benny Sanderson (age 49)

The seventh generation of Sandersons to either coach or play for Schiavonia, dating back almost 200 years to Schiavonia's debut at World Cup 26. Though the first six genertions were all called Benny - Kenny got his name due to illegible writing on his birth certificate.

Tony Cueto (Age 55)
Tony was captain of the World Cup 68 & 69 teams, and is joint manager with Benny. Tony is the serious head alongside the more flaboyant nature of his co-manager. But just as they were such a good foil for one another in the Schiavone midfield, so too their personalities combine well in management. Oh, and they pretty much run the country in their spare time, too.

GOALKEEPERS
1) Viliaka O'Connor (Male, Age 31, Jungle Strike FC [Vilita] [Captain])

Viliaka is half Vilitan and, as a result, ages noticeably slower than the rest of the squad. Indeed, Viliaka is the only remaining player from the World Cup 68 squad, when he was only two years younger than joing manager Benny Sanderson. How does that even work!? Viliaka is now one of the top goalkeepers in Vilita, having just won a domestic double and staking a genuine claim for the Vilitan goalkeeper's position before the SFF came back onto the international scene. He'll be busy, but at least we have one player who oozes quality.
2) Howard Howard (Male, Age 26, Yellow Stars)
Goalkeepers in the Howard family love international football, and one has played for a different non-RPing newbie nation at every World Cup Schiavonia has not been present at. Indeed, Howard kept up that tradition last time around, keeping goal for Transpadana.
3) Ellie Lewis (Female, Age 16, Monarchs)
Young gymnast Ellie has been selected as third choice keeper on the basis that she is incredibly nimble and has great reflexes. Whether or not that translates into being able to stop a ball from entering a goal, we shall see.

DEFENDERS
CENTRE BACKS
13) Nega Pilue (Male, Age 31, Garundia Kickball)

Nega is of Garundi origin - a race noted for their unusual red skin tone and more aggressive demeanour. Though twenty years of co-habiting with Schiavones has helped calm down their savage ways somewhat.
12) Roger Lyku (Male, Age 26, Yellow Stars)
Roger Lyku is of third generation Schiavone-Rejistanian ancestry, from when Schiavonia was roaming the world. Being from karelan blood means that Roger is a natural choice in defence.
11) Henrietta Tomasson (Female, Age 24, Yellow Stars)
Henrietta is of third generation Schiavone-Vanorian (human) amncestry. After her club's surge to the SchiavOne title and almost qualifying for the group stages of international competition, she starts alongside her domestic playing partner.
14) Hugo Moises Winston (Male, Age 28, Petardos S/A Craw)
Another player who is of cross-national origin, being Schiavone-Cafundelese. But with a large percentage of the island being of Cafundelese origin, this is less of an unlikely family situation than his fellow central defenders.

LEFT BACKS
15) Kalko Ramao (Male, Age 23, Aerlo Sports [Semarland])

One of four squad members who have been playing in Semarland, and the only Garundi - these players will no doubt aid the Sloths to improve throughout qualifying.
17) Hannah Tarmey (Female, Age 31, Monarchs)

RIGHT BACKS
16) James Bell (Male, Age 22, Adjurgen [Semarland])

A second wing back playing in Semarland - hopefully they can adjust to the different responsibilities that come with playing in the Schiavone formation.
19) Brian Jones (Male, Age 19, Yellow Stars)
Young Schiavone-Audioslavian wing-back who considers himself less of a knobjockey than the rest of his team mates.

MIDFIELDERS
BALL WINNERS
21) Carlos Cueto (Male, Age 21, FC Jansberg [Semarland])

Son of manager Tony Cueto, Carlos has been expanding his football experience in Semarland. Though young, he has shown the leadership qualities seen in his father and is expected to be a lynchpin of the Schiavone team for some time to come.
24) Hilda Tilda (Female, Age 26, Yellow Stars)
Schiavones often give their offspring names which rhyme. They considerit an honour, rather than something that makes you sound a bit of a wally.

DISTRIBUTORS
22) Jenny Sanderson (Female, Age 19, Monarchs)

The next - eighth - generation of Sandersons in the Schiavonia national football team, and the first female. Expect Jeruselem levels of promisuity at times.
25) Trevor (Male, Age 32, Petardos S/A Craw)
Half-Cafundelese, half-Druidan. But as neither of those nations play international football any more, Trevor has ended up playing for the Sloths, as his family has been living in Schiavonia since Trevor was a baby.

CREATORS
23) Johnny Jones (Male, Age 33, Foxchester Raiders [Starblaydia] [Vice-Captain])

Johnny Jones was pushed out at Monarchs many years ago, and has since been playing in Starblaydia, where - like Viliaka O'Connor - he has aged at a different rate to his compatriots. His experience amongst a young squad could be key to the Sloths picking up a result or two.
26) Tony Jones (Male, Age 23, Yellow Stars)
Tony is to intellectualism what a hard boiled egg is to international football. And, as he's just starting out, he's even less to international football at this point.

FORWARDS
RUNNERS
34) Godiva (Female, Age 20, Petardos S/A Craw)

Godiva was originally called Nubio Nunes, but she earned her nickname from riding around Craw naked on horseback. Has a strong friendship with Jenny Sanderson, and their personalities suit each other pretty well, too.
31) Nigel Blige (Male, Age 29, Monarchs)
The Blige family have played for Schiavonia for almost as long as the Sandersons, but are a lot less in-your-face about it. Nigel was a key component in Monarchs' LigAnaia win, and will be looking to continue that form here.

STRENGTHS
32) Alan Adams (Male, Age 24, Blaze [Nephara])

When a nation is pinning it's hopes on a player they've found in the Nepharim Third Division - his team finished eighteenth last season, though did score plenty of goals - you know that they are really scraping the barrel.
35) Chris Hogan (Male, Age 20, Monarchs)
They call him the Hulk. Hooray for unoriginal alliteration.

FINISHERS
33) Alessandro Schiavone (Male, Age 22, FC Jansberg [Semarland])

Alessandro has been playing in Semarland, and hopefully his developing skills there will help him in spearheading the Schiavone attack. Fingers crossed, as there wasn't a lot of strength and depth as the initial squad went to press.
36) Elijah Cotterill (Male, Age 16, Monarchs)
Being the son of a World Cup winner is not necessarily enough to get you picked for Schiavonia - though it does help. However, leading the line for the most unlikely LigAnaia champions at the age of just 16 is. And if you're wondering, of course Schiavonia haven't won the World Cup - Elijah's father won playing for his homeland of Wight.

The lower numbers tend to be first choice in each position, but if you're picking a team for me, don't be afraid to include a few who are not. Set pieces are taken by the distributor, apart from penalties (and some direct free-kicks) which are taken by the finisher.

OTHER CHARACTERS

Jenny Jones
- Chief commentator on SIBN's Sound of the Sloths and former head of the SFF. Jenny's knowledge of Schiavone and international football is second to none on the island. She is also the mother of Jenny Sanderson.
Kevin Smith - Jenny's co-commentator, who only has the job because his father runs the SIBN. Not the brightest tool in the shed, he can often be found blundering about Schiavonia being a pretty poor reporter. Has his moments, though...

Schiavonia re-started in international football with a population of just 700 and two clubs, but have now expanded to almost 9,000 with additions to their population from the nation of Garundia (red-skinned primitives who have unknown links to the original Schiavonia, their homeland was destroyed by a volcanic eruption) and a Schiavone ethnic population from the former Cafundéu. One of Schiavonia's original 46 islands then emerged from the ocean between Audioslavia and Thatius, thus giving the new Schiavone population - which had outgrown its tiny island home - a new place to live.

Schiavonia's return to the international stage has prompted them to order new kits from our friends at JMC in Krytenia. We hope you like them as much as we do.

ImageImageImageImage

Games in Schiavonia will be played at the King Francesco Stadium, Craw (Capacity: 63,000)
Image

The King Francesco Stadium is named after the King of Schiavonia when they first entered into international sports almost 200 years ago. On the outside, it is a replica of Schiavonia's first ever national stadium, but under the surface, there are all of the trappings of a modern sporting arena. The new stadium is the home of Schiavonia's national team and domestic team 46ers, and has been built as a place for tourists to Craw to visit and take in a game as they tour the area on holiday. If your visiting team has a lot of fans, there should be plenty of room for them - Schiavonia's resident population is just one-seventh of the size of the stadium capacity, and people from all three corners of the island come to home games.

What else can we tell you about Schiavonia? The people are very friendly (sometimes, too friendly for their own good, and it can lead to gullibility.) They are incredibly honest, peaceful (apart from the Garundi players, who are noticable by their surnames ending in two different vowels) and play as fairly as possible (e.g. deliberately missing penalties if they believe that they have been awarded them incorrectly). They love a celebration. They live on a small island with a pleasant climate. They stem from a surprisingly range of ethnic backgrounds (helped by some of the "friendliness" and celebrations). And the new Schiavone-Cafundélese population are working to make Craw - the nation's largest settlement, with a local population of just 3,000 but with many well-paid, well-treated migrant workers who must buy in to the Schiavone way if they wish to keep their roles - into one of the top sun-seeking tourist destinations in the multiverse. The Schiavone Tourist Board, known as Visit Schiavonia, are sponsors of the team.

Right, all of that stuff on the form that needs dealing with. Schiavonia play with a +2 style modifier, and you can do what you like with regards to our matches. Although, if there's anything major going on, it'd be nice to consult the SFF's storyline department first. But really, though... Permissions? Where's the fun in those!?!

If the SFF think of anything else worth mentioning, you will be the first to know!

Cosumar National Team - AOCAF 50

Image

Team Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom, which means Cosumar is divided into 21 historical "fiefs". These are now basically provinces. Cosumar's government is a constitutional monarchy that believes in complete civil rights, science, conservation of nature and space exploration. Cosumar is known for being the "Most Developed" nation in Atlantian Oceania according to WA Census, and in the Top 1% of the world's developed nations. Our current ruler, King James II, has continued our tradition of promoting progress while simultaneously maintaining both our unique culture and diverse natural features.

Region: Atlantian Oceania (far Northeast)

Official Nicknames: Azure Dragons (typically shortened to "Dragons"), Vanquishers (as of WC 72)

Colors: Navy, Royal Blue, Silver, White

Stadium: Leviathan Arena (capacity 99,114)

Location: Kaldukosic, Kaldukosic Fief, Cosumar

Image

Context: Cosumar made its international debut in World Cup 51, and regional debut in AOCAF 32. In World Cup 73, new manager Gethin Ramsey built on the momentum from winning the previous Cup of Harmony to qualify Cosumar to the World Cup Finals for the first time since World Cup 62 - ending a miserable 20-year drought. Then, the Dragons advanced all the way to the quarterfinals before finally falling to eventual medalist San Jose Guayabal. With the program now rejuvenated after making it to the final 16 again World Cup 74, expectations are higher than they have been in a long time. In this tournament, the Dragons will try to finally overcome their long-running AOCAF futility and advance to the semifinals for the first time.

History: Cosumar qualified for six consecutive World Cups (54-59) in its "golden age" of football, going out twice in the group stage and then four times in the Round of 16. After World Cup 59, Cosumar reached its peak ranking of #7 in the world. The National Team's gradual decline began in World Cups 60 and 61, in which they were eliminated in the qualification playoffs despite strong campaigns. They would qualify once again for World Cup 62 in Astograth, but the downward trajectory had already set in. World Cups 64-66 were particularly bleak and saw our once-elite ranking dip as low as the 80s. Many demanded that Farris Crowley, manager since WC54, be sacked... the glory days of his tenure a distant memory. But the Fiefdom Soccer Federation (FSF) stuck with him, and Cosumar began re-emerging as a force to be reckoned with around World Cup 67. A marvelous crop of young talent (including the likes of Francois Renault, Giovanni Aldinne and Alexander Pearce), now lovingly referred to as the "Renaissance Generation", started to restore the former sense of honor to Cosumarite soccer. They led the Dragons to several more successful WC and CoH campaigns...though they never did manage to return to the biggest stage. They came oh-so-close every time, but the Football Gods were never on their side. Their biggest achievement and swansong ended up being a 3rd place medal at Cup of Harmony 62. But then the next cycle, World Cup 72, was a colossal failure. The worst since our debut. Eight draws against lower-ranked sides. Farris Crowley was finally sacked after 40 years. Replacement Gethin Ramsey (of Nephara fame) salvaged Cosumar's ranking by winning the subsequent Cup of Harmony. Ramsey continued to work wonders in his first two World Cups in charge, leading the Dragons to their best ever finish (Quarterfinals).

Records:
All-time Record: 280-109-151

First International Match: Cosumar 0-0 Krytenia (World Cup 51 Qualifiers MD1)

Largest win: Hladio Huggers 0-7 Cosumar (World Cup 57 Qualifiers, MD12)
Largest defeat: Cosumar 0-9 Valanora (World Cup 55 Qualifiers, MD11)

Most glorious moments:
Cosumar 1-0 Cotdelapoms - Cup of Harmony 45 Third Place Playoff - Late Rikki Varshney winner for our first medalist finish.
Cosumar 4-0 Haginonia - World Cup 54 Interzonal Stage - Showdown on the final day of Qualifying with both sides' first World Cup berth at stake: we rolled.
Cosumar 1-0 Sarzonia - World Cup 57 MD3 - Dragons advance to their first Round of 16 at Sarzonia's expense.
Cosumar 7-3 Kagdazka & Pazhujebu - World Cup 60 Qualification Playoff - Brutal revenge against K&P for ousting us on penalties in the previous World Cup's Round of 16.
Cosumar 5-1 The Sarian - Cup of Harmony 64 Finals - Ramsey and the newly-christened "Vanquishers" propel Cosumar to lift a first WCC trophy.
Valanora 2–2 Cosumar (3–3 AET) (7–8 pen.) - World Cup 73 Round of 16 - After splitting the series in group play, we triumphed over the Elves to claim our first ever Quarterfinals.

Most heartbreaking moments:
Cosumar 1-1 (1-1 AET, 3-4 PKs) Churchma - Cup of Harmony 45 Semifinals - Losing on penalties always hurts, especially when it's to your oldest rival so deep in a tourney.
Cosumar 0-3 Sorthern Northland - World Cup 55 MD3 - It came down to this match for a spot in the Ro16, and we got our asses kicked.
Cosumar 2-4 Sorthern Northland - World Cup 56 Round of 16 - We finally made it to the knockout rounds for the first time, just to be humbled by these guys again.
Cosumar 1-4 Jeru FC - World Cup 57 Round of 16 - Another drubbing in the Ro16.
Cosumar 0-4 The Babbage Islands - World Cup 58 Round of 16 - New Cup, same story. Dragons fall apart in the knockouts.
Cosumar 3-3 (3-3 AET, 2-4 PKs) Kagdazka & Pazhujebu - World Cup 59 Round of 16 - This is THE match that haunts the dreams of every Cosumarite to this day. We had rolled through our Qualification and World Cup groups in dominant fashion - completely undefeated. It was the greatest Cosumarite team ever assembled, seeming destined for new heights. In the Ro16, the Dragons led the Urchins 3-0 late and celebrations had already begun. But Chalia Sajid scored a flurry of goals for an unlikely hat trick in final 15 minutes to force extra time. In the eventual shootout, we would completely choke, badly missing the target twice. Complete and utter shock. Many wandered if Cosumar would EVER be able to advance to the quarterfinals and exorcise these demons. It took nearly 30 years.

Most Goals: 104 - Sur Arora (WC 63-72)
Most Assists: 77 - Irvinn Rincon (WC 51-56)
Most Caps: 191 - Luke Crisalus (WC 52-60)

Team: The roster consists of 24 players, 22 of which are standard human. The remaining two players (midfielders Vareza Na'Noni and Frazan Va'Goshal) are of the Vloo people (species homo cosumarensis), a humanoid race native to Cosumar. Vloo are, on average, two inches taller than humans (which admittedly can come in handy on set pieces), and they must use different footwear due to their foot structure. Vloo have pale blue skin, two small black horns and thick black hair. And tails. They are distinguished by their surnames, with typically begin with prefixes such as Na' or Va'. There has always been at least one Vloo player in the squad, but never more than four. As per the Gethin Ramsey trademark, this squad features an emphasis on pressing high and forcing opposing midfields to make mistakes, then punishing with up-tempo precise passing. Cosumar features players in some of the top leagues around the world such as the Nepharim Premiership and LigAnaia.

Style Modifier: +1

Post-WC74 Ranking: 15 (30.74 KPB)

Formation: 4-4-2
A basic flat 4-4-2. This formation takes advantage of one of the biggest strengths of the Cosumarite player pool: our great wide midfielders. This could leave us exploitable in center of the pitch, but it is thought that the box-to-box work rate and defensive prowess of Vareza Na'Noni will cover us there and allow the more creative Aziz Senturk to get forward. The striker partnership of Engstrom and Newman will remain unchanged - with Newman as the large target and deadly finisher and Engstrom as the smaller, quicker and more creative second striker. The 4-4-2 can easily morph into a 4-1-4-1 or 4-4-1-1 to suit specific situations.

AWAY

Cosumar's kits were prepared for the team by Meski Soccer & Sports Store of Red Blackiland for World Cup 71 and have been worn ever since. The design has been applauded by for improving upon the already-brilliant WC70 design, while still staying true to the spirit of the beloved classic kits that served the team from World Cup 54 to 69. The home and away kits make heavy use of the national colours (blue, white, silver), new Fiefdom Soccer Federation logo, and the majestic Azure Dragon that Cosumar is famous for. The goalkeeper kit features hints of the royal family's colors: Gold and Green.

First-Choice Starting XI

Goalkeeper - Jakk Winterfyll - 28 - Image Exton F.C Image
Winterfyll is the most talented goalkeeper Cosumar has ever produced. He already has five World Cups under his belt and has started every match for Cosumar since World Cup 71. He dominated in the Harlighet Ligan with Crawford City FC early in his career, setting a record for clean sheets in a season. He has since become a mainstay in Apox with Exton FC, blossoming into one of the world's elite goalkeepers. He is known for his almost psychic anticipation and springy reflexes. Off the pitch, Winterfyll plays several Cosumarite folk instruments like the vevlira and the flojagu and is a regular contributor to the annual "Sounds of Ancient Cosumar" compilation CD.

Left Back - Alexander Soarhaven - 29 - Image FC Jansberg Image
FC Jansberg have become the powerhouse of LigAnaia Nord, and Cosumarites will tell you that it is all because they regularly start three Cosumarite defenders. Soarhaven, Svensson and Jorgensen. Soarhaven is a center back by trade, but has started playing more and more left back for his club lately, so Ramsey will experiment with deploying him there for Cosumar here in the AOCAF. Svensson will slide over beside him to take advantage of their club chemistry. Soarhaven, though much older, is newer to the National Team than Svensson. His wild success with Jansberg over the last two years represented a career breakthrough, and he earned his first caps at World Cup 74. His LigAnaia breakthrough is made all the more impressive by the fact that he was coming off a long-term injury that sidelined him for an entire season. Soarhaven played for Stoneshore United in Cosumar before moving to Semarland. His most obvious attribute is his strong stocky build, but he's also deceptively quick out wide and is quite good in the air (he can really soar).

Center Back - Peter Svensson - 23 - Image FC Jansberg Image
Standout product of the Na'Malsille Mariners youth system. Moved to FC Jansberg at age 19 when they were still in the Semarluundik Premarligaen after shining in the Di Bradini Cup. He immediately impressed at Jansberg, earning a starting job and helping the club win the championship in his first season. He retained the job as the team moved up to LigAnaia, being arguably one of the best defenders in the league the last two years. Svensson has impressive physical might, aerial ability on set-pieces, and sends a great pass forward. Earned his first cap towards the end of WC72 Qualifying and played sporadically in WC73. He had a rocky time in the last AOCAF in his first tournament as a full-fledged starter, but Ramsey didn't give up on Svensson and he rebounded with a much better showing in World Cup 74. Is being tipped as future Cosumarite captain. He is the nephew of Herrgly Svensson, a famous Cosumarite daredevil known for skydiving out of a space station, and little brother of Erak Svensson, a Congressman.

Center Back - Jacob Pandan - 31 - Trothwands Evolution Image
A fairly standard but extremely reliable defender who has cemented himself in LigAnaia in recent years after a fruitful tenure at Cassandra City in Cosumar. Just enjoyed one of the finest seasons of his career, helping guide underdog Trothwands to the Champions Cup and a record 3rd-place finish in LigAnaia East. Pandan can be made to look a bit slow on his feet by athletically gifted opponents, but he usually makes up for it with his effort and intelligence. Very savvy with his positioning and timing in the tackle. Not as bulky as the other center backs on this team (actually a little slight for a center back), but somehow never gets injured or forced around - he's made of firm stuff. Plays a great ball out of the back. He had been a fringe National Team player for much of his career, but became a starter in World Cup 73 and was an unlikely hero in the historic Round of 16 win, scoring a spectacular set-piece volley late on to take a 3-2 lead.

Right Back - Sheldon Serra - 27 - Zenit Attawapiskat Image
Though small in stature, Serra is a dynamic wingback with real technical class. The undisputed first-choice right back since World Cup 73, he has ridded his game of the defensive lapses that bugged him early in his career. Serra was born and lived the first eight years of his life on a space station of neutral nationality, so his international eligibility was somewhat muddled once he returned to Earth and discovered his talent for football. Serra eventually attended university in Cosumar and fell in love with the country, becoming a citizen at age 20. He was named Best Defensive Player of Cosumar's collegiate league at age 21, and subsequently ventured overseas to Zenit Attawapiskat, where he has been ever since. He loves it in Quebec and has done well there for the last seven years, becoming a staple in the side as the club escalated in status. With Zenit, he has played in the old Quebecois league, Repechage 49 (where they won the title) and now LigAnaia. He has captained the team for the last three seasons and hopes to spend the rest of his career there in LigAnaia as a one-club man.

Left Midfielder - Mauricio Sigler - 25 - Real Atlantea Image
Sigler has lived up to the hype since being labeled teen prodigy, crossing the line from "exciting young talent with potential" to true stardom when he won the Golden Ball (tournament MVP) at Cup of Harmony 64. His technical wizardry is superb, reminiscent of countryman Anders Engstrom, and his pace is off the charts. In the Harlighet Ligan, he single-handedly propelled the newly-promoted Zakhoro Aces all the way to the top half in 1001 before being purchased by a club ranked in the UICA top ten. Taeshani titans Real Atlantea. He is currently in his fourth season there as a featured player, helping the club to their billionth consecutive Champions Cup appearance. Famously scored the game-winning penalty against Valanora in the World Cup 73 knockout stage, cementing his status as a Cosumarite legend forevermore.

Center Midfielder - Vareza Na'Noni - 32 - Image Avenida Principal Image
One of two Vloo players at World Cup 74, Na'Noni can play almost any position due to his understanding of the game, calmness with the ball and lethal combination of size, strength and pace. After a sustained period of success at FC Samotath in Cosumar, Na'Noni announced himself to the world with a brilliant in World Cup 69. His breakout performance caught the eye of Red Star Severny of Polar Islandstates, making him the first Cosumarite to play in a league ranked #1 in the world. Four years in the Polarian league facilitated even more improvement for the talented Vloo and he has been a constant fixture for the National Team ever since. Mostly as a box-to-box midfielder, but also as a #6 and fullback. He has spent the last several years in Farfadillis playing for Avenida Principal since he couldn't any longer take the frigid weather in Severny. Na'Noni is known for his eye-popping tattoos, including detailed patterns of constellations across his arms, a roaring dragon on his neck, and an elaborate sunset on his forehead.

Center Midfielder - Aziz Senturk - 27 - Image Maximum Rovers Image
Senturk's evolution over the past three years has been exhilarating to watch. He used to be a frustrating player to follow, one of those guys who would show flashes of brilliance every now and then but could never find it within himself consistently. But since taking a risky move to Nephara, Senturk has figured things out. It took a tough learning experience at South Laithland to get there, but he seems to now be at the right spot at Maximum Rovers and has gradually established himself as a top player for the club. He has always had all the right ingredients to be a dominant force...pace, technical prowess, craftiness, shooting. The difference is that now they come together on a weekly basis. Ramsey rewarded his success at Maximum Rovers with a starting role throughout World Cup 74 and again here. Senturk is a sly, crafty figure in midfield. Never afraid to take on anyone, try out an unorthodox bit of skill or launch a long-rage shot - his specialty.

Right Midfielder - Ole Öhman - 30 - Image Sabrefell Athletic Image
One of the most respected Cosumarite players around the world right now thanks to his sustained success with Sabrefell Athletic for several years. He has helped the Nepharim side win their league, the Globe Cup, and the Esportivan championship. A skilled winger, Ole can do it all - score, square that perfect ball back to the middle, cross, and he is equally good with both feet. That last part is huge as it allows Ramsey to employ him on the left or right. Made his debut as a promising young reserve in World Cup 69, but he fell out of Farris Crowley's plans after accepting a lucrative contract to play his club ball in Florgania (a vastly inferior league). Returned to the fold in World Cup 71 after resurfacing in a big way as Debutant Of The Year in the Nepharim Premiership. He has reached his peak there and has stated his desire to stay at Sabrefell for the rest of his career. He was pretty much the only Cosumarite who consistently looked good in the dreary WC72 Qualifying, leading the team with 5 goals and also notching an assist. Scored 8 goals in World Cup 73 and led all players with 10 assists in the last World Cup cycle. His only downside is that he doesn't have the pace required of a truly world-class winger.

Striker - Anders Engström - 30 - CAPTAIN - Image Crisisbless Image
The Cosumarite superstar right now. The best all-around player on the team. Engström (AKA Captain Andy) played most of his career at domestic club Mallox FC before finally being lured away by Crisisbless. Under Ramsey he occupies the "free-roaming second striker" role of the 4-4-2 slightly behind Newman, being the nimbler and more creative player of the two. Engström was voted Harlighet Ligan MVP multiple times (including five years ago, when he delivered Mallox their fourth championship) and won three Golden Boots with four consecutive 20+ goal seasons. Engström's technical skill is world-class - he can do amazing things with those small feet of his. His ability and killer instinct will be vital in setting up goal-scoring chances for others when he's not clinically burying shots himself. Though small in stature (5"8), his acceleration is of the rarest variety. Pundits once criticized him for being unwilling to challenge himself in a foreign league, but has silenced the critics by doing quite well in Nephara, where he routinely scores big goals (including the winner in the last Cygnus Cup Final). 12 goals and 9 assists in World Cup 73, followed up by 11/7 in the last one. Has been named one of the Top 20 players in the world by various media outlets. First choice to take penalties.

Striker - Ace Newman - 29 - Image Urbanista Image
Ace Newman terrorized domestic defenses for Cassandra City in his early 20s, winning the club its first Harlighet Ligan championship. He exploded into worldwide fame with some dominant performances in WC 70 Qualifying. As the starting right-winger, Newman surprised everyone by scoring 10 goals and also recording 6 assists in his debut international campaign. Could've been a candidate for Best Young Player of the tournament. In World Cup 71, he transitioned to fill his more natural central role up top and scored 7 goals despite missing four games with suspension. Had a monstrous 17-goal World Cup 73 cycle, which was the most goals any Cosumarite has ever scored in one cycle. Best on the team at scoring with his head thanks to his insane leaping ability and height, but his best attribute is his strength. He frequently will fire off powerful shots despite defenders draped all over him. He just shrugs them off. His job is to leverage these things to put the ball in the back of the net, and he is laser-focused on that task. He does it at the highest level in his club career, scoring double-digit goals for Urbanista in the last three ANL seasons - increasing his haul each time.

The Rest of the Squad

GK - Esteban Hernandez - 25 - Mierton Manatees Image
Morponte Fief has a legendary youth academy, and Hernandez might just be the most extraordinary talent they've ever produced. This dude's frame is massive: 6"7, broad shoulders, long arms, enormous hands. Most people that size don't have the coordination to walk and chew gum at the same time, let alone take on Audioslavian strikers. But Hernandez is one of those rare freakish exceptions. He was considered too raw to get any serious time at World Cups 71 and 72, but that has changed. If only Jakk Winterfyll wasn't so darn consistent ahead of him. But Hernandez's time will come, it's just a matter of when. After winning U21 Player of the Year in the Harlighet Ligan in 1001, and nearly taking MVP too, he secured a move to Mierton Manatees, one of the better teams from the Taeshani Premier League. He has had his best season there last season in his fourth year there and rumor has it that he has caught the eye of some of the world's elite clubs. Fun tidbit: he nearly gave up on his professional soccer career at age 18 to go to culinary school instead.

LB - Maynard Gorham - 28 - Image Papillio Mertagne Image
Gorham is a strong, sturdy left back who who has emerged as a key player both internationally and in LigAnaia over the last three cycles. He has always possessed sharp football intelligence. Excellent tackler. Isn't as dynamic going forward as other fullbacks on the team, but can still whip in a good cross when the moment comes. Spent the developing years of his career with Dusk Athletic in Cosumar and Peswick Town in Jeckland. Scored his first goal for Cosumar in World Cup 72 Qualifying and nailed a crucial penalty in the Round of 16 of World Cup 73. Off the pitch he is a dark, mysterious figure. Long black hair, which he ties up during matches. He also plays bass guitar for gothic band Mors Incarnati in his spare time.

LB/CB - Arndu Farsgaard - 35 - Image Hastmeade Diamente Image
Dependable and versatile veteran defender who plays younger than his age. Was Cosumar's best defender in World Cups 71 and 72. Originally a hockey player with no interest in a "sissy sport" like soccer, he didn't even discover his talent for the game until age 24, after failing in his hockey career. He took to the sport quickly, rapidly moving up the ranks of the Cosumarite leagues after starting with a local semi-professional team. By the time he was 27, he was starting at center back for Sekundar Ligan regulars Keenan Athletic. At age 28, he got snatched up by Audioslavian club Cazadores Cathair and made a big impact in LigAnaia, thrusting him onto the radar of the National Team. After seven years in the national team, he has become a fan favorite and respected veteran presence. Just ten years ago, he was on the street after being cut from a minor league hockey team. Now he is playing for freaking Hastmeade Diamente. Crazy. He's not dominant in the air, but he has a propensity for always winning the fight for position.

CB - Torbjörn Jorgensen - 20 - Image FC Jansberg Image
The last (and newest) of FC Jansberg's Cosumarite defensive trio, Jorgensen is a beast of a young defender. He wears his heart on his sleeve in every match, defending the goal from every cross, every dribble, every shot like its his only reason to live. He was developed by the Real Azuris academy and broke into their regular starting line-up at age 18, shoring up their defense and kickstarting a title campaign. He was subsequently named Young Player of the Year and the Harlighet Ligan's Best XI. At 18. His newfound stardom didn't go unnoticed and FC Jansberg subsequently added him to their collection of Cosumarite defenders. Alongside countrymen Soarhaven and Svensson, Jorgensen had a good debut season in LigAnaia and played a role in helping Jansberg to a 70-point season. When he still played in Cosumar, fans of rival teams cruelly called him "pizza-face" because of his bad acne.

RB - Tomasso Tenebrosa - 26 - Image Ramusok United Image
Tomasso is one of the most affable people you will ever meet, never losing his cool and constantly encouraging his teammates with smiles. He is a dynamic young wingback who loves to press forward with pace, but Ramsey will need to teach him how to pick his spots because he has gotten burned in the back in the past as a result. Has some good skill with the ball and plays a nice cross, so many think he could play as a RM if needed. Came up through the FC Kaldukosic youth system and was a regular for Cosumar U18 and U21. Completed a big-money move to Ramusok United a few years ago and helped the Blues win their second title in his first season and had a good season again this year. Tenebrosa did well as the first-choice RB in World Cup 72, especially in the Cup of Harmony, but has been relegated back to more of a spot role since the arrival of Gethin Ramsey, who favors Sheldon Serra.

DM - Olaf Womack - 27 - Twentytwo Cacti Image
Bulldog of a defensive midfielder who has played for clubs such as Versiaville SC (Cosumar), Rannin FC (Estenia) and now Twentytwo Cacti in 95X. Relentless pest of a player, probably the strongest on the team. And ugliest (#punchablefaces). Looks like 95% of his body weight is in his absolutely ripped torso. Not very skilled, but deceptively smart. Gets away with a lot and really grates on opponents' nerves, often coaxing them into yellow or red cards. Probably won't see much action unless Ramsey feels the need for his very specific, albeit limited, attributes. But a worthy inclusion because there's not another player quite like him in our talent pool, so he lends some versatility and flexibility in the midfield depth.

LM - Matt Branch - 23 - Image FC Jansberg Image
The surprise breakout star of Cosumar's DBC35-winning U21 squad. Despite not getting regular minutes with Sporting Matrolvik, he was magnificent on the international stage - racking up several goals and assists in the tournament. FC Jansberg came calling over the transfer window, offering LigAnaia prestige and the playing time needed to further his development. Sure enough, he ripped it up in his first season with Jansberg, growing by leaps and bounds as the year wore on and they took hold of the title. He slowed down a little bit in his sophomore season this year, but still shows excellent technical ability, leadership potential, and ability to score from distance. Who knows how high this guy's ceiling is? He is stuck behind Sigler right now, but his future is bright.

CM - Tiffany Elam - 22 - Guingamp Image
The only female on the roster. At age 18, Elam turned down the #1 medical school in Cosumar to pursue her soccer career, moving to Kernansquillec to join Project X. She was one of the program's first standouts, immediately being offered a contract upon graduation to join Guingamp, one of Kernansquillec's biggest clubs. In three seasons there, she has already become one of their best players. After great success with Cosumar U21 in the Di Bradini Cups as captain, Elam transitioned well to the senior squad and has made a handful of substitute appearances over the last two Qualifying cycles. Elam's best attributes are her pace and incredible work rate. She is a true workhorse in midfield, covering more ground box-to-box than anyone else in every match. She's a good passer who can venture forward, but she really relishes the defensive work most and goes about it with real steel.

CM - Denton Tapp - 21 - Image OAS Royal FC Image
The former Di Bradini Cup player has been rewarded with a first call-up to the senior National Team after a breakthrough season in the Harlighet Ligan. OAS Royal FC will finally make its long-awaited return to the UICA thanks in large part due to Tapp's rapid development since this time last year. Initially considered mostly a holding midfielder with real limitations going forward, Tapp surprised onlookers this season with his propensity for making plays. His energetic, ball-winning defensive style was still there, but he was suddenly also able to be a better conduit for the attack and even tally a bunch of assists and goals. One of the best young players in Cosumar, Denton has a chance to make a bold impression in this AOCAF and nail down a spot on a World Cup 75 roster that will have a lot of turnover from this one. The first thing you notice about him on the pitch is his boundless energy and light-footed quickness.

RM - Frazan Va'Goshal - 28 - Image Galatica Image
The second Vloo member of the team, Va'Goshal is a productive and above-average winger. He can get the job done against any opponent, though he has never quite been as outstanding for the National Team as for his clubs. Established himself as a young star at FC Kaldukosic then cashed-in in the Pasargan SuperLiga. He has been solid all six years at Galatica, but really had a career year a couple seasons ago when he cracked the SuperLiga Season's Best XI. He continued his great play last year and helped Galatica back to the Champions Cup, cementing him as a regular in the Cosumar squad again - which he had struggled to do since Ramsey took over. Va'Goshal is here for his impact as a late sub, blazing down the flanks with pace. He is not a great shot-taker, but he excels at creating angles and windows of space with the ball. He is a true playmaker in this respect, clinical in his manipulation of defenses. He has pledged to donate any earnings in AOCAF 50 to Operation Goodness, a secular charity based in Kaldukosic.

AM - Augen Wittevrongel - 25 - Image Barbury Town Image
Wittevrongel emerged as one of Cosumar's youth stars after developing handsomely at Star United States youth academy C.D. Spikers. After graduating from their program, he capitalized on his Di Bradini Cup success to force a move to "the most prestigious club that would have him" ... which ended up being Barbury Town. Not a bad place to establish oneself at all. Wittevrongel, who embraces his "arrogant" label, was confident he could earn his way into regular minutes anywhere. Sure enough, he has shown well for himself in Apox. After a number of promising spot appearances in his first two years, he became a regular starter (and scorer) for them over the last two. Gethin Ramsey seems to trust him, especially after Wittevrongel scored a couple late goals in the World Cup 73 proper. Attacks the goal with pace, vision and aggression, but needs to better learn when to pass. He's on the thin side and can get forced around too easily against more physical opponents. When formation change necessitates a designated attacking midfield playmaker to come in behind the striker(s) and wreak havoc, Wittevrongel's name will be called.

ST - Tevin Lilley - 26 - Rozelle Image
Lilley was Cosumar's top striker at the U23 and U21 levels, and is just now hitting his prime as a striker for both club and country. He was one of the top ten scorers in the Harlighet Ligan at only 20 years old for Cassandra City (though he was clearly unhappy that teammate Ace Newman still had more) but his feel for the game, the precision of his touch in the crucial moments, wasn't quite where it needed to be. His fiery competitiveness often spilled over into recklessness. He could rely on his physical gifts to dominate domestically, but Farris Crowley knew he would run into a brick wall in the World Cup. Lilley needed to play abroad to continue his development. Though he didn't put up the gaudy numbers in his four years in Taeshan that he did in Cosumar, Lilley gained that quiet confidence and poise that can only come with experience. He's still in the shadow of Ace Newman like he was at Cassandra City, but he has embraced his role as a super-sub for Cosumar and has been "first striker off the bench" for the last two tournaments. But after moving to A-League stalwarts Rozelle and scoring 40 goals in his first two seasons, including a Golden Boot, he might not be limited to that role for much longer.

ST - Belarmin Worsaw - 26 - Image Wrexton F.C. Image
The ex-Borderlandian striker has been prolific in Cosumarite leagues for years. He signed with Zakhoro Aces as just another youth prospect off the street and ended up scoring 16 goals at age 18. After Aces were relegated, he had a 30-goal season in the Sekundar Ligan at age 20. Back in the Harlighet Ligan again, he and fellow young star Mauricio Sigler guided Aces to a record 9th-place finish. He then left for bigger-fish Eastweald, and won two consecutive Golden Boots there. In those two campaigns, his last two in Cosumar, he scored 48 goals in 68 matches. Yet another upward move was due. To Apox, where he just scored 14 goals in his debut ANL season. To fans of Cosumarite soccer, it feels like Worsaw has been around forever, but he's still only 26. The collapse of the Western Borderlands government freed up his international eligibility, and after a long process, he finally became a Cosumarite citizen prior to World Cup 73. Social media then exploded with people begging Gethin Ramsey to bring him in for World Cup 73. Which he did. And Worsaw showed extremely well, scoring 5 goals in 7 substitute appearances. Now here we are, with the former Western Borderlands World Cup player suiting up for a different (and quite superior) nation once again.

Staff

Manager: Gethin Ramsey Image
As RPed here, Farris Crowley was removed from his post as head coach of Cosumar after 38 years. The man who has replaced him is none other than...Gethin Ramsey. The Nepharim icon is probably one of the very few men who could immediately step into Crowley's shoes and own the position. The 71-year-old is exceedingly accomplished on both the international and domestic stages. He led Nephara to their first World Cup Finals (67) and successfully qualified with The Licentian Isles every year there. You can now add a Cup of Harmony triumph in his Cosumar debut to the list, as well as trips to the Quarterfinals and Round of 16. In the Nepharim Premiership, he made his name as a club legend at Chenoworth Rovers and eventually coached powerhouse AFC Treason to the title. Oft considered the best manager Nephara has ever produced, Ramsey's hire was a universally applauded and he has since become beloved by Cosumarite fans, players and media alike. The gaffer is best known for his ability to motivate players. He knows how to speak to them, how to identify with them - and they feed off his unwavering confidence. His harsh disciplinary style and frequent hairdryer treatments is a contrast to the patient, old-sage-mentor approach of Farris "Master Miyagi" Crowley. Ramsey brings with him his trusty tactical expert, Marlena Scamander, from AFC Treason.

Assistant Manager: Kennedy Kopenhaver Image
World Cup 74 was Kopenhaver's fifth as Assistant Manager since the sacking of Truda Jotunnoj after World Cup 69 (someone had to be the scapegoat for the team's failures and it wasn't going to be Crowley...yet). Kopenhaver, 56, was once a terrific center back in World Cups 55-57, back when Crowley was establishing his legacy. He was infamous in Cosumar for being one of the most fiery players ever to step on a pitch. He would stop at nothing to win, even if it meant angrily telling his teammates what's what or getting himself a card to send a message. After retiring, Kopenhaver attempted a broadcasting career but was not happy. It was too far removed from the action! He then took to coaching, and spent six years as an assistant to Alvin Burnsides at Mallox FC. After being skipped over for the managerial vacancy at Miners 47 in Apox, he jumped on the chance to work for Crowley, his former mentor, with the National Team. Kopenhaver should bring a lot of passion and energy to the team that Crowley and Jotunnoj hadn't been able to provide. He is a rare man - physically imposing yet keenly intelligent. Deceptively clever and excels at game strategy. Really knows how to motivate players.

95X AOCAF 50 Roster

Postby 95X » Sun Apr 17, 2016 8:12 am

Ninetyfivex sighs as he tries to compile the toughest AOCAF roster in 95X history. Just then, Xi Foureleven stops by, fresh from her team photo shoot in a brand-new throwback white uniform with yellow and black diagional stripes and black Impact Font lettering. Ninetyfivex notices her reflection in the computer monitor, turns around, and says something uncharacteristic.

"You're probably the best I've ever seen in that."

Xi Foureleven responds, straight-faced, "you are one of only two males who can say that and avoid punishment for doing so."

"Well, it's not every international tournament that's the last for a character that he in some ways regards as either a sister or a daughter he'll never have either of, but he's not sure which."

"It is for the best," Foureleven responds instantly. "And I have thought about this for some time now."

Both of them stare at a blank wall for a few minutes, thinking of some word of encouragement. They try to speak at the same time, apologize to each other simultaneously, when Xi insists Ninetyfivex goes first.

"I'll think of something."

New AOCAF Headquarters Opened

The Atlantian Oceania Confederation of Association Football last night held a grand ball to inauguate their brand new headquarters in the Krytenian city of Ousevale.

Image
The new AOCAF Headquarters

AOCAF had previously operated out of the lower ten floors of a high-rise office block in central Emberton; the organisation, however, had decided that the time was right to up sticks four years ago. The new building, contracted to Nova Mercia based design company NCA and constructed by Buchinia Construction, broke ground shortly after, and construction was completed in January. With the landmark fiftieth AOCAF Cup competition taking place in Vilita next week, the organisation celebrated its new building with dinner for dignitaries from football federations across the region, followed by dancing in the spacious atrium of the building.

Officially called Atlantian House, the headquarters will conduct its first proper business after AOCAF Cup 50, with the upcoming AO Champions' League tournament - a competition that includes local football team Ousevale Borough.

AOCAF Announce AOCL Headquarters

While news was coming out of Krytenia about the new AOCAF Headquarters in Ousevale, moving from Emberton, a small announcement is coming out of our capital. The AOCL has been granted its own headquarters in the city, where it was sharing the offices with the VSC since we have taken over its administration. They AOCL had been granted a wing in the VSC headquarters as a temporary measure, as it was not certain at the time of our adminstrative takeover how successful the competition would be, with the UICA having already flooded the club football. However like the CdC, CEdC, and the Cygnus Cup, the AOCL has found great success as the UICA has worked in conjunction with the competitions to fully cultivate a thriving club football culture throughout the sporting world.

Image
AOCL Headquarters in Raynor City

The AOCL headquaters will be now located in the capital district in the oldest part of the capital, having been granted one of the Raynor family mansions that had been vacant for the past two decades. The building will be officially open in next month, where its first order of business will be announcing the Final site for next seasons competition, whose press conference will double as the opening press conference for the AOCL new headquarters. It will be staffed with citizens from all across the region, acting as liaisons and administrators for the competition, ensuring that the AOCL will continue to be successful for another twenty plus editions and onwards in this growing international market.

Locally, the Marauders will be departing from Rinaldi this afternoon and making their way to Vilita to participate in the upcoming AOCAF, the fiftieth edition of the competition. While not considered to be the favorites of the tournament, the Marauders have seen their fortunes improve in the regional competition the last several editions and it would not be a surprise to see the squad being a dark horse winner. Any side that can boast the midfield of Hawk, Soldarian, and va Drake stands a reasonable chance of winning a tournament regardless of where their ranking might be or what the gambling houses believe to be their chances. A side that is built on experience, a side that has a high caliber of player, and a side that has found a new discipline under foreign management, with the appointment of the Cosumarite assistant manager after the previous took up the Sargossa NT head managerial position. The change in attitude and view may very well be the difference that gets this side back in the habit of winning titles.

Audioslavia is, both ICly and OOCly, rather ancient. The country was founded on December 17th 2002, a period regarded as 'pre-history' by many. The nation originally CTE'd in 2006, was revived briefly in 2007 and 2009, and enjoyed a proper resurgence at the start of 2012, locating itself in Atlantian Oceania indefinitely after IC centuries of rivalries with various nations in the region.

The Audioslavia national side participated in World Cups 4 to 29, made an abortive comeback in World Cup 37, and rejoined the world of international football properly back in World Cup 59. The ancient Audioslavia side qualified for all but one of the World Cups it entered (a young Audioslavia failed during the WC5 qualifying playoffs) and generally maintained a place in top twenty of the world rankings, peaking at #1 during the qualifying phases of World Cups 20 and 21.

Paradoxically, the national team has seen more success in its modern form - a period where quick success is much more difficult to achieve than in the early days. Whereas those early years yielded only the inaugural U21 World Cup and a string of losing finals in the World Cup proper, the modern team won the Baptism of Fire tournament before WC59 and triumphed in the thirty-fifth, thirty-eighth and thirty-ninth installments of the AOCAF Cup. The side have also reached the final of the AOCAF cup on four other occasions and have reached as far as the semi-finals of the Cup of Harmony.

Modern Audioslavia finally won the World Cup itself in cycle 63, a victory that required a huge amount of luck and some very po-faced, negative football. Audioslavia managed to win the tournament despite going into the qualifiers with a ranking of #53 in the world. Four years later, in World Cup 64, the national side proved that this win, as fortunate as it was, was no flash in the pan when they again took home the World Cup trophy, completing the first ever 'double-double' of winning back-to-back AOCAF and World Cup championships.
Audioslavian footballers tend to be a little on the small side, with few players standing over six feet (1.83m) tall. The average Audioslavian footballer stands at around about 5'8 (1.72m) or thereabouts, though most goalkeepers and central defenders are at least 5'11.

Audioslavian footballers are renowned for their high fitness levels and stamina, though a comparatively lithely framed squad do occasionally have problems when facing large, physical teams. Quick, one-touch passing is the key to Audioslavia's midfield prowess, which likes to play at a high tempo, and the side often take advantage of some fleet-footed wingers and full-backs to play through-balls beyond the opposition's defensive line after having created the space with some quick interchanges. Audioslavian attacking football was built on the idea that two crisp, quick passes around the opponent's penalty area will lead to a goalscoring opportunity, and as such the team's forward line throughout history has been littered with quick-thinking play-makers and dead-eye finishers.

Recent Audioslavian sides haven't been without their weaknesses. Since the retirement of the players that led the nation to glory in cycles 63 and 64 the teams have tended to lack true leadership figures on the pitch. Our nation's footballers tend to be stubborn with regards to letting peers tell them what to do. Audioslavian teams sometimes tend towards disorder and in-fighting when truly on the back-foot - say, when one or two goals behind in a game - and are easily disheartened when things start to go wrong. On the pitch, the side's lack of physical strength means defending against corners is often a problem, despite a well-drilled defensive line. Marauding full-backs can be susceptible to counter-attacks via the wings, and very few centre backs in Audioslavia are particularly quick. One major problem in recent years has been a lack of imagination when going forward, leading to the likes of 6'4 Dragan Kryznjak being picked ahead of arguably more talented forwards. Kryznjak's goalscoring record speaks for itself, but some argue that the team's over-reliance on long-balls when going forward has cost them a few important games in recent years.

Kontrapuntzeka has long been the name of Audioslavia's style of play, taken from the Auskadian word for 'counterpunch'. Audioslavia's ability to hold teams at bay for long periods before hurting them via quick counter-attacks and short bursts of activity helped the side to its two World Cup victories. As the years have gone by, Audioslavia have had to veer away from the style as opponents start to adapt and change. The system that won two World Cups in a row doesn't quite hold against modern football teams. The national team have never really adapted a new style, however

Audioslavia's squad has traditionally consisted of a multitude of Audioslavians plying their trade abroad, including a number of nationalised foreign-born players. The progression of the LigAnaia, however, has seen an larger proportion of domestic-based players make the national team squad. A number of them come from 1830 Cathair, who recently won the coveted Champions Cup.
With Imaslavii having left his post at the end of the last World Cup, Guillermo Sanchez Dysos has been appointed manager after his fine, yet trophyless, run with AC Izotz Zubia. Sanchez-Dysos, once a member of an Audioslavia squad but without even a substitute's appearance to his name, spent his playing career at AC Izotz Zubia, Montfort University, Kingsgrove and Cazadores Cathair, yet despite being well-traveled is likely to maintain Audioslavia's 'counter-punch' style of play. Sanchez-Dysos has been quiet in front of the media since taking the job - ironic, really, given that he's the son of famed Krytenian journalist Rubio Sanchez and Audioslavian sports journalist Sue Dysos - and as such little is known about what style of play Audioslavia might try.
Dragan Kryznjak is the out-and-out number nine on the team, supported by one of an array of diminutive and quick forwards, though Apexarena has been given the nod more often than not.

On the wings, Imanol Vengochea is probably the team's most valuable player. He and Zorio Etxezuniyiga have taken the coveted 7 and 11 shirts and will likely be the team's main threats with regards to creating chances. Central midfield has been a bit of a problem position for Audioslavia since Omaexevarria and Hufschmied's retirement from international football. Ruisheart Wight and Lemuel Ortez are likely starters.

Wim de Snaaijer will finally be given the nod as the first-choice goalkeeper. Ahead of him will be the duo of Caceres and Goicoechea, who have established themselves in the centre, while who plays full-back is anyone's guess. Fokke-Rommedahl and Varisco have both had runs in the team, but Dallara is the form player who may well take up the right-back position rather than one in midfield.

Roleplaying permissions: We frown on god-modding if there isn't a sense of humour behind it. Everything else is fine. If you'd like to injure a few players or dish out red cards for a particularly harsh game, go right ahead, go hog wild. Want to injure the entire team in a bus-crash? Fine, but make it good, or suffer the humiliation of having your limbs scattered hither and thither via a blast from my mighty ignore-cannon.

One general rule about the Audioslavian national team is that we are very, very often the 'fall guy'. We've lost so many big matches - WC finals, AOCAF finals, you name it - that we've come to thrive on being the big baddie who gets their comeuppance at the end. If your team has a particular strength or tactic that they like to use, by all means use it against us and RP that it worked tremendously. The scorinator may well show us to have won, but don't let us get away with it without having had a jolly good scare first, and make sure to *really* rub it in our faces if you beat us. Anything that makes it fun to RP. We wouldn't have it any other way.

The change of Chromatika to a slightly more counter-attacking side paid off last cycle, as the team challenged for the top spots and made it to the Round of 16 in the Cup of Harmony before losing in penalty kicks to Fluvique. She's decided to test out three new players, while giving some of her veteran players a break on the bench. Morningstar, Stef, and Rien will try to make a compelling case for their inclusion into the starting lineup in the world cup cycles to come.

STARTING XI
GK #4 Nikolai THORBEN, Matthew Senators (Unified Sunrise Islands) M (LVi) Age: 26 Height: 6 ft 11 in
Nikolai Thorben has been having a great time recently on his career, his stats doing the talking - twenty-six goals allowed in thirty matches internationally, and then winning the Golden Glove for the first time in the League Chromatiks 1. Then, he decided to test out the international market after talking to Luuk Aart and Meagan Kelly, and was promptly taken by Matthew Senators of Unified Sunrise Islands. He continually strives to be the best that he can be, and will be called to perform once again as the backstop of the Anomalies.

RB #26 Erika MORNINGSTAR, Urrheddiao United F (DVi) Age: 22 Height: 6 ft
After yet another solid season with Urrheddiao, Morningstar is finally being given her shot at the spotlight. Erika's greatest strength is in her crossing and how she communicates with others, not in her physicality. She has always been one to shy away from contact and instead suffocate her opponent by always being around them. This tournament will be an excellent way to measure her skills.

RCB #25 Lucjusz STEF, Depri Sanar Yellow Jackets M (DVi) Age: 24 Height: 6 ft 2 in
In comes Lucjusz Stef, a rising power for Depri Sanar, who's been a middling side for a long time. He has a lot of stamina and focus, along with vision. He knows how to use his head - both literally and figuratively - and has come to the attention of many football experts as one that deserves a shot. With Ilya and Raoul getting on in years, it is not too early to start looking for replacements, and he can definitely be the successor.

CB #28 Luuk AART, Lonngeylin Coast (Vilita) (Min?) Age: 21 Height: 6 ft 4 in
Things are coming to a head between the Chromatik Government and Luuk are coming to a head, but at least the football side of his life is looking up. His new Vilitan Club - Lonngyelin Coast - almost went from Declasse Division Champions to Stellar Division Champions, finishing in second place. He appeared in twenty-two of twenty-six games, scoring two assists. The experience playing in the V-League is likely to have helped him grow, and he looks to lose himself in football once again as his escape.

LCB #16 Otis SORENDAI, Anomalies M (DBl) Age: 22 Height: 6 ft
Playing in such an offensive-minded team is challenging for Otis, but his play in the League Chromatiks 1 landed him in the All-League Team once again. He is best on the squad at backpedaling and staying on his man. Raoul might not be starting alongside him, but his partnership with Ellen has been developing rather nicely. Sorendai is maturing into a fine player, and the Chromatik Squad is looking to take advantage of that.

LB #14 Zlastica ELLEN, Chromatik Capitalizt F (DVi) Age: 27 Height: 6 ft 11 in
Dwarfed by the story of Duo Dynamique for the Capitalizt in the last League Chromatiks 1 Season was the emergence of Ellen's assist skills, as well as her teamwork. Often criticized as prone to be easily angered, she kept her cool, only earning four yellow cards in the season and zero red cards. She is still the toughest player of the back five, and doesn't shy away from contact at all.

RM #18 Meagan KELLY, Kionao Locals (Turori) F (MIn) Age: 25 Height: 5 ft 4 in CAPTAIN
Kelly scored three goals for Turorese club Kionao Locals last season, as the club made it to the Stellar Division. Kelly is still hungry as ever, using speed over size to provide the burst to the counterattack. She will be called upon to gallop around the pitch to push the ball up, and she will once again gladly do so. There are some who think that if she'd stayed with Z'a'ai, the club could've won the last title; her answer, "What's better for Chromatika? For our domestic play to improve, or international results?" was definitely an eye-opener as to her current focus, which is the national team.

CM #15 Rachel HELLION, Anomalies F (MIn) Age: 22 Height: 6 ft 6 in
Hellion came into the forefront as another source of goals in the last cycle, showing her free-kick prowess. She translated it to ten goals in the League Chromatiks for Anomalies, the most she has scored in her career. Despite rumors of possible international forays, she has declared that her focus is still with Anomalies for now, and with the upcoming departure of Antonio, she will be needed even more. Before that, though, she will try to keep up her international form and try to keep some of the focus off of Antonio.

LM #29 Daniel LUCAS, Myana Islanders M (DVi) Age: 30 Height: 6 ft 6 in.
Lucas is the oldest player on the squad, and recently stated that his goal before he retires is to make it to the World Cup Proper. His offensive skills have improved with age, as speed has been replaced by technique and finesse. His presence will mean that the counterattack from the left won't be as fast as from the right for the Anomalies, but those from the left should be more calculated, more technical, and more planned.

RW #11 Trenn RIEN, Z'ai'ai Mountaineers M (MIn) Age: 20 Height: 6 ft 3 in.
Nioli Quren actually called out Frenscesca Cortes on the internet, asking her to give the youngster Rien a shot on the national team, and even offering up his spot. Cortes had been thinking about it for a while, she admitted, and now Rien will start for the AOCAF. He won the Golden Boot with twenty goals the last season, and scored in every way possible - left foot, right foot, head, free kicks, you name it. His greatest asset is his unpredictability. This tournament will be a great measuring stick to see how he fares internationally, and where he is - a player that is doing well in the League Chromatiks just because the league is not that great compared to the world, or instead one of the best forwards in the land.

LW #8 Gabriella ANTONIO, Coret Hawks (Nephara) F (LVi) Age: 24 Height: 6 ft 1 in
After carrying Anomalies to another top four finish, and finishing with the Silver Boot, Antonio has reportedly signed with Coret Hawks, a Nepharim Club. She has scored ten goals in thirty caps, the most of any Anomaly, and become used to having a target on her back everywhere she goes. The emergence of Hellion as another scoring threat has helped a little, but the fact still remains that Antonio is called upon to score at least one goal per match, and allow the defense to have a lead to protect. She is a force of nature, a natural competitor, and if the team is to do well at all, the key to the team's offense the way Thorben is the key to the team's defense.

Bench
GK #1, Jillian NIER, Urrheddiao United F (MIn) Age: 19 Height: 6 ft 7 in
The last season of League Chromatiks 1 proved that yet again, Nikolai Thorben is the best keeper in the land and Nier still has some work to do. Age is on her side, though, as she isn't quite twenty and looks to get better and better with time. It helps when Urrheddiao is in the domestic manufacturing heartland, and there is a lot of money to be spent on overseas products. She's quick, she's smart, and she's willing to be patient - and apparently she has a nice friendship with Nikolai, and views him as a mentor/older brother figure. The sky's the limit, and waiting just a little longer doesn't bother her too much.

RB #13 Severin ILYA, Depri Lanar Red Hawks M (DBl) Age: 25 Height: 5 ft 7 in
It's strange for Ilya to be called "old", but he sure acts like it. He has seemed a little rugged and disconcerted lately. His physical skill and quick wit hasn't left him, but the Red Hawks didn't have the greatest of seasons defense-wise, and he was willing to be demoted to the bench to let Morningstar have her international debut. He can always be counted upon to come into a game and play like he always has, so he'll be the backdrop in case Morningstar fizzles out.

RCB #20 Vitor RAOUL, Anomalies M (LVi) Age: 28 Height: 6 ft 2 in
The Anomalies center back was relieved by Stef, who is a bit raw. Vitor uncharacteristically accepted Kelly's leadership last cycle, and started to be a little more cautious with his words, which is new by his standards. Lucjusz might be getting his moment in the spotlight, but Vitor's calm demeanor will always be present in the locker room, reminding everyone who they are, what they play for, and why they're here.

CB #30 Jan STANIMIR, Chromatik Capitalizt M (DBl) Age: 23 Height: 6 ft 3 in
A perennial bench player, he is as well-rounded of a player as they come. His selflessness and calmness in the face of pressure make him a valuable asset on any squad. He may not be the greatest athletically, but his intangibles set him apart. Chromatik relied on him to lead the defense in their spirited run to the end of the past season, and although Duo Dynamique carried the team, he was the defensive captain for certain. He may never start a game, but he'll always be there, available and willing.

LB #16 Aysu DAMJANA, Myana Islanders F (LIn) Age: 22 Height: 6 ft 7 in
With the expansion of Chromatika's National Team roster to twenty-three players, there became room for players like Aysu Damjana, who had been quietly having a solid career in three-time champions Myana. She was a partner with Luuk when he was in Myana, and in his absence, has come to a leadership role on the effective Islanders back five. She knows how to stay on her man and how to use her head to clear balls. She tends to be a bit aggressive at times, and gets carded more often than not, but her effort is definitely there in her quest to be better than she is currently.

LCB #15 Frederic COLBERT, Urrheddiao United M (DIn) Age: 25 Height: 6 ft 8 in
If Jillian Nier's words have any weight, Frederic Colbert is a saint. He is supposedly the leader of the United, selfless, charming, charismatic, and most of all, very good at the game. His motor never ends, and his eyes are always fervently gazing back and forth, calculating distance, velocity, and possibility of a defensive mishap. All at the age of twenty-five. Otis Sorendai is a great Left Centre-Back, but if there was ever a need for a second player, Colbert is definitely your man.

CM #29 Sandra SYBILL, Z’ai’ai Mountaineers F (MVi) Age: 24 Height: 5 ft 11 in
Another stint on the National Team bench for Sandra Sybill, the ball-distributor on the Mountaineer attack. A solid season saw her scoring eleven goals throughout the season, while pushing the ball to the top three that led to the Mountaineers scoring a ridiculous total of sixty-seven. Sybill's tendency is to dribble the ball herself up the field instead of crossing, but her passing skills have been steadily improving over the years. She'd still rather use short passes than long ones, but she understand her role, and does it fairly well.

RM #32 Alyss MONTAGUE, Z'ai'ai Mountaineers F (DVi) Age: 22 Height: 5 ft 5 in
Yet another player who was on the Mountaineers' attack system, Montague may not have scored many goals, but she was the assist machine. The yin to Sybill's Yang, Montague isn't fast off the ball, but her crosses and passing are precise and well calculated. Has tremendous upside, but is behind the Captain of the team in the depth chart, meaning she'll probably not play that often, given that Meagan Kelly is a machine and never takes minutes off of the pitch.

LM #18 Carrol LIAM, Anomalies M (DIn) Age: 20 Height: 6 ft
Someone had to be getting the ball to Gabriella Antonio during her seasons at Anomalies, and one of the major culprits was Carrol Liam, a youngster who really jelled with Gabriella. Despite the fact that the best striker of the nation referred to him as "Kid" and "Sidekick", Liam has assisted in his fair share of goals for Anomalies, and had three of his own in the past season. Daniel Lucas's days are numbered, it is true, meaning that one day soon, Liam will make it to the Starting XI, probably way before Sybill or Alyss gets to, the way Rachel Hellion and Meagan Kelly are playing. He's not the type to admit that, however, preferring solitude and action speaking louder than words.

ST #10 Ki NIRO, Alnio Union F (MVi) Age: 23 Height: 5 ft 10 in
Ki Niro's foray into the League Chromatiks 1 started off rough, as she didn't understand the pace of the game. However, she improved as the matches went on, and eventually finished with seventeen goals for an Alnio squad that simply didn't know how to defend. She's fast, she's quick, and she has the stamina to keep it up for ninety minutes. What she needs now is some knowledge to learn how to play smartly, and she'd be a completely forward, the way Antonio is.

RW #18 Jazmin Dragana, Myana Islanders F (DIn) Age: 21 Height: 5 ft 11 in
She may have only scored fifteen goals this past season, but for a Myana system that prides itself in defense way more than offense, Jazmin's emergence as a consistent scoring threat was a much-needed one. She actually allowed Daniel Lucas to have more chances than he would have had if he was attacking solo, and caused much mayhem for opposing defenses. She has a knack of making opportunities happen that just aren't there, and is a playmaker with some spark.

ST #7 Nioli QUREN, Z'ai'ai Mountaineers M (DIn) Age: 26 Height: 6 ft 2 in
It's not that Nioli has lost a step, or deserves to be demoted, or anything like that. He still had a great season - eighteen goals is nothing to laugh at - all alongside his fellow Mountaineer Trenn Rien. Nioli's soft and gentle presence was pretty firm when he insisted that Trenn be given a chance alongside Antonio, all the while knowing that in a more offensive system, he'd get to start alongside the two of them in a heartbeat. He understands Chromatik football, however, and is willing to take a step back to allow his friend to have a chance up there, and to provide any help, mentally or physically, that he possibly can.

Home Venue:
Capitalizt Dome, Chromatiks City, Chromatika (Cap. 144,000)
The crown jewel of the Chromatiks City skyline, the Dome is home to the Capitalizt, and also the national team. Full of state-of-the art facilities and placed in the middle of downtown Chromatiks City, the Dome guarantees a pleasurable viewing experience of football.

Most Likely to:
Score: Hellion off of set pieces, Antonio or Rien otherwise. Kelly sometimes.
Foul: Any of the defense knows when to commit a foul for the greater good.
Card: Aart, Morningstar, Lucas, in that order.
Substitute: Usually one back, one mid, and one forward, unless a tactics change happens. Meagan Kelly almost never comes out of games, and neither does Gabriella.

RP Permissions:
Choose Goalscorers: Y
Injuries: Only minor
Cards: Yellow only, please TG me afterwards so I know
Godmodding: Absolutely no, of any kind.

R < O < Y < G < B < I < V of the rainbow, and then Bronze < Silver < Gold. Red are laborers, Orange are farmers, Yellow the manufacturers, the Green the merchants. Blues, Indigo, and Violets make up the higher end of society (business, lawyers, law enforcement, etc.) while all politicians, after being sworn into office, are part of the Bronze - Silver - Gold hierarchy. The only DG of the nation is the President-Premier, although nobody calls him/her that. The official title is DG. These Color Lines are extremely strict, and it's practically unheard of anyone of less than Blue to do anything of importance. This is the system Chromatika has been using for as long as written history has existed of the nation...

Home stadium: Mount Crown Stadium, Burningham (cap. 98,000 all seated)
The Firebirds' home stadium is built at the foot of the imposing Mount Crown, on the outskirts of the capital city, Burningham. Fans are known for their extremely vocal support, and the Osarian national stadium has been described as a difficult place to play. The stats support this notion, as Osarius are undefeated, and have not failed to find the net there under Jermain Lewis. The most vociferous home fans are seated in a kop-esque stand built into the mountainside, with the huge, rocky face behind them adding to the intimidation. The pitch itself is usually made shorter, but wider than most, catering to the short midfield passing game of the Firebirds, and their frequent use of width. Long-ball teams will find it difficult to find space behind the defence, but teams making liberal use of wingers will likely flourish.

There are also two "special" kits, one is white with black and red flames on the front left, and the other is mostly gold (the traditional alternate kit colours) with a red and black bar across the middle, if neither of these is suitable. I'll make these eventually.[/spoiler]

My RP Permissions are pretty chill to be honest.
Pretty much anything goes, I only ask that you let me decide the severity of any injuries you decide to RP for me, please.
Send my players off if you must -- if its a player I really didn't wanna lose for the next game, I'll RP an appeal or something.
Oh and at the risk of sounding a bit "RAWR" ... do not kill any of my players or coaching staff (unless I say go ahead via TG).
Killing fans is okay though. Go nuts with that if you like.

Most likely to...
Score a goal: Johnson, Monroe, Crespo, Samuels, Zapata, Watson
Create that goal: Samuels, Monroe, Watson
Win a free kick: Monroe, Watson, Samuels
Take (and score) that free kick: Drummond
Win a penalty: Johnson, Drummond
Take (and score) that penalty: Johnson, or Watson if he's on the pitch
Miss a penalty: Bailey
Score a header off a set piece: Constantini
Score an own goal: Okereke, Santana
Hack an opponent down: Santana, maaaaybe Simpson
Lose their head and get sent off: Okereke, and Dillon is a bit feisty
Commit a professional foul: Hart has a habit of rushing off his line
Argue with the referee: Zapata, Dillon
"Disappear" during a match: Vollero, Watson does it sometimes too
"Put in a shift": Bailey, Gentile
Have an elaborate goal celebration planned out: Monroe and Samuels
Get caught stumbling out of a nightclub: nobody really, though Igbeze is a party guy
Do charity work: Saunders, Constantini, Monteforte
Elicit marriage proposals from fans: Saunders, Johnson

I have a pretty clear tactical philosophy in mind for my team so I recommend at least skim-reading the next spoilered section if you intend to RP the match in any detail. It will be greatly appreciated if you do. Long story short, Osarius are something like Arsenal's invincibles (in that they are a technical side with a capacity for VERY physical games; as opposed to modern Arsenal, they don't mind it up 'em...) lining up something like a Messi-era Barcelona type of 4-3-3 formation. It's sort of 1970s Netherlands in a way, actually. But not quite. I'll eventually document my actual vision for this system. Eventually.

The team will generally attempt to control possession rather than engage in consciously defensive play; and "parking the bus" is a cardinal sin. When out of possession, the team will generally press high up the pitch to compress the available space -- because they are largely comfortable playing the ball under pressure -- and try to win the ball back as quickly as possible, sometimes over-committing, and leaving themselves vulnerable to a swift counterattack. Generally pacy defenders help to alleviate this problem somewhat.

Against stronger opponents, expect to see a more defensive positioning manifest itself, though. Fullbacks will be less likely to bomb forward, and the team tends to be more conservative in possession, often playing backward to draw the opposition in, before launching a devastating counter attack with pace. They will also slow down when ahead later in the game, but only so they don't unnecessarily provide opportunities to lose possession and/or concede. This doesn't mean they wont take the opportunity to score if it presents itself, though... it's all a bit Bruce Lee in that sense. "When the opponent advances, we retreat. When the opponent retreats, we advance. When there is an opportunity to score, we do not score. It scores all by itself." Or something like that.

The front line of three is often very flexible, with all three (usually) capable of playing in any of the front three roles at any given time, though recently, the centre forward tends to be just that. This is because most of the time, the centre forward/striker will remain the focal point of the team's central attacking, though, whether they are receiving passes or moving to make space for the wingers.

The midfield will almost always be lined up in way that the three players form a sideways arrow (minus the shaft). By this, I mean that one will sit deep, one will push forward, and one will be a box-to-box type shuttling between the two. On the occasions no specifically named attacking midfielder ("AM" in the squad list) is used, typically it is an indicator that the manager expects a tighter battle for possession in the midfield zone, and it's likely two midfielders will be box-to-box, while the third midfielder is a more defensively-inclined (possibly even a "DM") option.

If there IS an attacking midfielder on the pitch, they will operate either as a playmaker, and most passages of play will go through them... or they will push forward from midfield a lot, getting onto the end of passes in the final third, and thus scoring a fair few goals. I'll try to highlight which of the two if I feel like it really matters. Typically speaking, if none of the other two midfielders is mentioned as being outright defensive, the attacking midfielder is a "playmaker" type.

If two attacking midfielders are named, take it as an indicator of respect for the opposition's defensive prowess. It also means the remaining midfielder is likely to be booked for "tactical" fouls...

Defensively, Osarian centre-backs are typically pacy and expected to have strong aerial ability and good positional awareness. The latter part is less important if a player is particularly quick, though. Almost certainly, one of the centre backs or the goalkeeper will be good at organising the defence. In cases where there is a notable lack of organisational skill -- typically in situations lacking experience -- there is a clear knock-on effect on the rest of the team. With that in mind, don't expect starting centre backs to be among the younger or less experienced members of the team. If they are, that means they are exceptional players, hint hint.

The fullbacks typically overlap a lot -- considering how often the wingers change sides and become "inverted" (i.e. cutting inside the defender on their stronger foot, rather than pulling wide) -- and seem to operate almost as advanced as wingbacks (or even midfielders against considerably weaker teams) a lot of the time, making the system a sort of like a 3-4-3 when Osarius attack, due to the deepest central midfielder dropping back to a position right in front of the defence, to counter against a potential playmaker "in the hole" for the opposition. This can be a potential weak point if this player is small in stature (they often are), as they will often get drawn into the backline and thus, potentially mismatched against forwards.

Set piece preferences (in order):
Corner kick takers: Whichever wingers/wide forwards are on the pitch
Penalty takers: Watson, Munoz, Samuels, Monroe
Free kick takers: Drummond, Monroe, Watson
Long free kicks: Constantini, Santana, Hart

You don't have to stick to all of that, though. It just fits in better with the way I intend to RP my team (when I can).

Something that is important to know is that football isnt the number on sport in Osarius. Its second, to GraviBall, though the gap is (still) closing.

Footballers in Osarius are loved if they cover a lot of ground and make tough tackles, because the combative nature of the game is what the majority of fans like most. Very passionate, are Osarian fans, you see. Sooo... basically, if you're not scoring goals or making crunching tackles, the fans generally aren't impressed. They can appreciate the tactics and whatnot... it's just not entertaining. Again, this is because GraviBall. Which, btw, is a fast paced, high scoring, BRUTAL game. Think of a combination of Basketball and Gridiron Football. So yeah... Oh, and that whole goals/tackls thing... That goes for opponents too... Osarian fans always appreciate a good tackle, so they will even applaud opposition players at times (although they will boo their goals, obvs).

The complicated tactical systems used by modern Osarian teams are well-understood by the fans, and a growing football blogging community within Osarius often has in-depth tactical discussion, and regularly posters show great insight. This is thought to be the result of a general increase in coaching quality throughout the nation, which has also contributed heavily to the national team's increased degree of success in recent years.

From time to time I'll make reference to the area a player is from, and when I do, I will try to add an OOC note to explain what it means, because different regions of Osarius have almost entirely different cultures. For example, Tubrissian people's habits and sayings are heavily based on Phoenician/Carthaginian culture and religious beliefs; Islanders -- those from Kyoshiku/Kholanaras Island in the south-west -- have a warrior-centric culture and are quite insular; many Ikutursans worship a malevolent, erisian, serpent deity... and so on.

Manager: Azarai Robinson

Assistant Manager: Reiss Ryerson

Coaches: Jordan Simpson & Serenity Lewis (General), Brent Steele & Harvey Decker (Defending), Rene Wilson-Ouaddou & Roque Urbina (Attacking), Benni Watson & Gilberto Cuellar (Technical)
Lewis and Simpson will be the main motivators in the coaching staff, letting their infectious enthusiasm spread through the squad. Their energy will be invaluable as Robinson and his team try to rebuild the national team's reputation (and perhaps their confidence) following disappointing performances in three successive tournaments. Serenity Lewis in particular, having been tipped to take over from her father, may see this role as her last chance to impress the OFA.

Steele and Decker's innate understanding of defensive positioning and timing will be crucial in the development of the young defenders in Robinson's squad. With the exception of a few, it's unlikely that the new gaffer will be particularly impressed with their defensive prowess, and it's hardly a secret that Osarius' first World Cup triumph was built heavily on the back of defensive stability. While Robinson has no intention of changing the nation's approach, he will recognise the need for things to be tighter at the back. Expect this to be an area of focus.

While Osarius can no longer rely on the near-certainty that was Ezio Grassi in front of goal, Dean Richards' methods seemed to have been working. Roque Urbina will provide insight into off-the-ball movement, while Rene Wilson-Ouaddou -- Osarius' second highest all-time goalscorer, in case you had forgotten -- should have some pointers on finishing. Between the two, Ezio's goal record might yet be assailable.

Finally, two of Osarius' greatest technicians will be assisting the team on the finer points of the beautiful game. Cuellar will be focused heavily on ball control and improving capacity for rapid, one-touch football, something practiced heavily by Firewood City during his playing days. Watson, however, as a part-time member of the setup -- owing to his duties as Hastmead Diamante manager -- will work directly with set piece takers, hoping to pass on his expertise in matters of the dead ball.

Specialist Coaches: Gareth Mason (Goalkeeping), Gabriele Esposito (Strength & Fitness), Tobias Holt (Strength)
Gareth Mason has spent the better part of the last decade coaching at the Enzo Corradini Goalkeeping Academy -- which he himself graduated from -- and has cultivated a reputation for being as good a coach as he was a player. His overall comprehension of the game's most specialised role has seen him take on not just the role of senior goalkeeping coach for Osarius, but also goalkeeping co-ordinator across all levels.

Esposito's experience working with football teams has proven invaluable for Lewis, and is unlikely to cease being so. With the assistance of Holt, it seems as though Lewis' concerns over the physical strength of some of the younger players will not be shared by Robinson, as notable differences are emerging.

Medical Staff: Clara Cormega (physiotherapist), Dr. Daniella Bruni (psychologist), Dr. Chanice Ash (team doctor)
Dr. Cormega's presence has been invaluable for Osarius over the years, maintaining health among the various squads she has worked with. Between the niggling injuries from domestic campaigns the players are involved in, Robinson may have been forced to deviate from his long-term plans with regard to younger, emerging players, if not for Dr. Cormega's expert assistance in limiting recurrence and speeding recovery. Dr. Ash proved herself a more than adequate replacement for the now-legendary Dr. Karusiki, and is considered one of the most promising young doctors in Osarius, receiving her doctorate from Kyoshiku University after completing her residency working alongside her predecessor at the University Hospital.

The continuing inclusion of a psychologist in the backroom staff is notable, given how hard Jermain Lewis had to push the OFA to sanction the hiring of Dr. Bruni. Her move to Quebec was a blow for the national setup, but her replacement is more than capable. Dr. Cerys Francis holds multiple qualifications and a surprising degree of experience, considering her relative youth. She has experience working with athletes, having provided counseling services to Robinson's Tjelberg Forening team in Buyan after a recommendation from Reiss Ryerson.

The Squad

Most of the championship winning side of two years ago return this edition, and several of Osarius' highly-rated under-20s and under-21s make the step up to senior level football this summer.

Notably, the captain's armband has passed from Jorge Santana to Luther Bailey. Azarai Robinson did not give an explanation for the change, but it is worth noting that Santana has featured infrequently for the national team since the last AOCAF, and appears to have fallen out of favour somewhat with the gaffer.

Chromatik City Courier
League Chromatiks 1 Expands As Planned
Foreign Player Limit Lifted
AOCAF 50 Team Announced

Janet Heinrik here, with your daily dosage of Chromatik sports. We have a doozy for you today, so let's get right to it!

The first thing of importance is that the Chromatik Football Federation has announced that the plan of increasing to twenty-four teams will indeed go through, effective next season. The teams that finished in the top four in the League Chromatiks 2 last season - Eyrods, Pria, Pur, and Wirr Tsi - will be joining the League Chromatiks 1, while eight new teams - Brisara, Crossroads, Shantarr, Tor, Lorentine, Lhor, Rhoni, and Gurshan - will be joining the second division. Of note are Rhoni and Brisara, the two biggest cities that hadn't had a team left. Also, Crossroads will be adding some spice as the third capitol squad, and trying to chase both Chromatik and Anomalies as another team to root for in the Capitol.

The new squads have reportedly already become involved in proceedings between players, going after some big names of the top tier, and also looking at the free agent market overseas. It will be interesting to see how the League expands and grows, and hopefully the quality of football increases as well.

Another major news coming from the CFF was the lifting of the two-player-per team ban on foreign players. "We believe that Chromatika can handle itself in the international stage and hence the teams should be allowed to bid for whomever they wish," the CFF said in a statement. "Yes, this means that teams that have money can pursue better talent, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it if that causes a problem, and we believe that the uplifting of Chromatik football is what is more important at the moment. The goal, still, is to reach a twenty-four team first division that generates lots of talent and becomes recognized as one of the best leagues in the world, and we believe this is a great first step."

Teams expected to benefit the most out of this announcement are Myana, Urrheddiao, Z'ai'ai, Anomalies, and Chromatik, as they are funded both privately through owners and publicly through fans being able to invest into their favorite team. How this will impact Chromatik play remains to be seen.

Erika Morningstar, Trenn Rien, and Lucjusz Stef were three names named to the Chromatik squad for the AOCAF 50 that had not been named to the Starting XI in the past. Morningstar, often considered one of the best defenders playing for United, was a shoo-in with Ilya and Raoul getting along in age, but how Stef and Rien will fit into the team remains to be seen. The team is expecting to perhaps make the Round of 16, as an outside chance, while recognizing that Atlantian Oceania is home to many of the best teams in the multi-verse, and there is a possibility of not doing very well in the tournament at all. The CCC will be reporting more on AOCAF 50 as the tournament begins its way in Vilita and Turori.

ISKANDERVALE
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2 diamond
Style Modifier: 0
Kit Supplier: Cloaker
Nickname: The Flock

A mostly-independent Nepharim territory, Iskandervale is mostly a tax haven and tourist destination that tries to stay out of the news - at least until there was talk of Nepharim political dissidents moving to it en masse. Still, for the most part it stays under the radar and turns a quiet profit. The government's decision to allow them to enter the AOCAF has been pretty much entirely motivated by profit, hoping to market their sunny little country of roughly 362 thousand people and at least as many birds.

The squad itself is a mixture of locally-based semi-professionals and a few Nepharim with blood ties in the lower tiers. After a surprisingly respectable outing last time around - they even scored a goal! - they're hoping to continue their plucky path towards respectability and, ideally, professionalism.

Tactics
Image
First-choice lineup. The Flock have no technical players and precisely one creative influence in Burgundy. The game plan is to keep tight at the back and swarm forward quickly in numbers, hoping crosses and long balls over the top hit their targets. And, naturally, given the Nepharim origins of the side, they will be hard and uncompromising tacklers. Pace and power will be the watchwords, hoping to make up in physicality what they lack in skill.

Staff
Manager: Timur Ardent - Age 49
Asst. Manager: Gethin Dorran - Age 57

Ardent, who simultaneously manages the island's most successful side, Lokomotiv Iskandabad, is not a renowned tactician and boasts only the lowest coaching qualification that the WCC offers. This is one more qualification than anyone else they can call upon. What he lacks in qualifications he makes up for in effort. He always knows the right thing to say at the right time, and while his tactics are understandably pretty basic, he can at least get these no-hopers motivated. He should also be commended for an exhaustive search for eligible players in the Nepharim league pyramid.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Marat Saysyan - Age 31 - Qarshakor
12 - GK - Shukhrat Kozak - Age 26 - Unaio Lumpala (BNG)
20 - GK - Gareth Hooker - Age 25 - Falston Town (NPH)

Surprisingly enough, Shukhrat Kozak has won a professional contract in Banguela! A massive, hulking giant between the posts, he's unsurprisingly good in the air and a decent enough shot-stopper, but the AOCAF will prove a difficult test. Saysyan did competently in the last tournament, and between him and Hooker Kozak has decent backup.

Defenders
2 - RB - Sabahat Djeparov - Age 30 - Lokomotiv Iskandabad
3 - LB - Triffid Ramsey - Age 26 - Cornellians (SCH)
5 - CB - Parvizdzhon Borrowfield - Age 22 - Qarshakor
6 - CB - Tamerlane Kapadze (c) - Age 31 - Sporting Solsholm (SEM)
13 - CB - Davron Umaryaev - Age 23 - Qarshakor
16 - RB - Sigrun Tarragon - Age 21 - Morningstar (NPH)
18 - LB - Sonya Rhine - Age 25 - Peregrine (NPH)
22 - CB - Klaus Hammond - Age 28 - Vakhqul Ironworks

Ramsey is the best player in the squad and will be a major outlet going forward with her accurate crossing and quick feet, while Djeparov will have her hands full trying to defend and mark her winger tightly. Kapadze, captain of the side, was inspirational enough last tournament to be picked up in by Repechage49 side Solsholm, while promising young Borrowfield's pace on the ground makes up for Kapadze's slower, more anticipation-based approach. Umaryaev is a decent backup who could make professional grade, Hammond probably won't, while young Rhine and Tarragon are Nepharim born and bred and should make for reasonable cover.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Raven Laithwalker - Age 29 - Umbershore Rovers
7 - RCM - Ekaterina Mirzayev - Age 26 - South Rathia (BRE)
8 - AM - Seyahat Brewster - Age 31 - Vakhqul Ironworks
11 - LCM - Sienna Matthews - Age 28 - Ringway (NPH)
15 - AM - Ruziqul Burgundy - Age 22 - Pantans (SAN)
17 - DM - Leila Rzazade - Age 19 - Dí Maozöxê (FFD)
19 - CM - Vuesala Frey - Age 20 - Tshemanda Clube (BNG)
23 - CM - Shavkat Kuziqov-Reisinger - Age 24 - Iskandabad United

Laithwalker, a Nepharim backpacker and Extreme Hills academy dropout who decided to stick around, join the league and was one of its best players, might have the best story of any player in the AOCAF but she is probably still not good enough. Still, she passes the ball pretty cleanly and is hard in the tackle. This tournament might be a bit too soon for Rzazade to take a starting place but she's waiting in the wings for that chance. Mirzayev and Matthews are reasonably talented box-to-box players who can also get the ball along cleanly, and Vuesala Frey is expected given time to overtake them - Kuziqov-Reisinger was in the Iskandrian First Division's team of the season, but isn't an international midfielder. Burgundy's an energetic if raw attacking midfielder, with the more measured Brewster remaining an option on the bench.

Forwards
9 - ST - Ulrich Whitesmith - Age 31 - The Hanged Man (NPH)
10 - ST - Autumn Starbuck - Age 25 - Crisisbless Athletic (NPH)
14 - ST - Kurtis Samarqand - Age 23 - Cassandra City (COS)
21 - ST - Sana Asrori - Age 21 - Lokomotiv Iskandabad

Starbuck is a quick striker and a reasonable finisher, plying her trade in the Nepharim middle tiers. The gangly, rather elegant Samarqand will take over as her strike partner after the exceptional feat of winning a professional contract in Cosumar, with the small, fleet-footed Asrori expected in time to do the same. The huge, lumbering giant of Ulrich Whitesmith remains a potent option on the bench from the lower reaches of Nepharim football.

Ever since she got her newest appointment, Ayumi Hibiki (née Koshiki) couldn't sleep proper. She always thought that, after marrying rich and clean of mind Ryo Hibiki while he still worked on the future of the Sunrise as the CEO of RyoCo Technologies, guaranteed not only stability but a life of peace as she'd probably just stay the rest of her life at home, worrying about things such as keeping a happy husband and probably taking care of the eventual child or two. Her dreams had been accomplished a while ago, her being one, though briefly, of the Elite Four of Northern Sunrise.

She competed for seven years as a Pokémon Trainer, having debuted at a shy age of 11, one year younger than the usual starting trainer after competing (and winning) the gruelling Lorelei Main PokéAcademy Tournament. Her strategy was, in fact, simple but it worked: making use of recent adaptations of the PokéCode, the book of rules of all things Pokémon, which allowed for more dense move lists and a bit of improvisation and a lot of training for all her Pokémon, as in she'd spend nights awake just to train harder. Those guaranteed the young and nimble Ayumi a spot on the Lorelei Island PokéLeague. Step by step, Ayumi found herself on the top of the world.

Now, she never really had any particular dreams of being the champion. For one, she never thought of herself as a champion, but more of a talented opponent. Someone that everyone respected, yet didn't needed any badges. She could tame beasts, she could beat Gyarados with a Bibarel, as long as said Bibarel survived Ayumi's harsh but effective training sessions. Eventually, however, she reached a roadblock. She was 13, he was 11. For some reason, Ayumi knew that would be her hardest match-up. The boy was nearly mute. She either couldn't hear him well, or he refused to talk at any volume over near zero.

Ninten. That was his name. The boy wonder of the 73rd National Pokémon Championship. He was, surprisingly, a one and done feature of the Championship, winning the league once before deciding the life as a competitor wasn't really all that great to begin with. No one honestly tracked what happened next to Ninten. And that's what made him so legendary. Some say he was, indeed, mute and used psychic powers to communicate and decided to retire in order to perfect these skills and grant them to a true hero of the future. Some said he joined Red on Mount Silver. Others mention since his retirement, he went legit and got a job at an office. There's even one on how he single-handedly guards the deeper portions of the Living Forest, beating up whatever thing that tries to harm those lands.

As for Ayumi? Now she has to beat the AOCAF with Western Sunrise Islands, as long as the Corsairs survived Ayumi's harsh but effective training sessions.

And a bit of luck popped up.

Jason Ninetyfivex was working on things late into the night, when the power fails at his office. His desk phone still had a dial tone, so he called the power company, who gave a usual answer that they "are aware of the problem and working to restore service as soon as possible."
It's the most canned of responses, however he knew that he was probably talking to someone who was forced to work in the power company call center because they couldn't pay their bill.

So he pulls out his phone and reads a strange headline:
Man disappears after claiming Capital of Culture Yogurt is "yucky" online
Unlike the general populace, he knew the company had far reaching private police forces. However this was the farthest they've gone yet.

SULTANATE OF OONTAZ DERT LI NG
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the first time that Oontaz Dert Li Ng will be participating in the AOCAF Championship. Oontaz got through undefeated in the group stage of the Baptism of Fire 61 but was knocked out in the round of 16 by Arioslavia. The nation is a mix of Muslims and Catholics, with the Mohammedans concentrated in the northern part of the country and the Christians living mostly in the southern islands. Despite a turbulent early history which saw both religious groups fighting constant wars and rebellions, by the time Abanhfleft came and "occupied" the nation in 1921, a general "peace" had settled between the two groups, and today both are content to consider each other as Oontazniks. Despite being a sultanate, the freedom of religion is valued by the nation, although it would be good advice to say that while the Catholics and Christians might be welcoming, even accommodating, to foreigners of strange new religions, the Muslims might not be so welcoming.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Sultanate of Oontaz Dert Li Ng
Demonym: Oontaznik
Team colors: Green and white
Style modifier: -2.0 (Defensive this time around)
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Head coach: Juan Dominador "Ador" Macaspac (36 y/o, Oontaz Dert Li Ng)

STARTERS
GK: Septimio BARRANQUILLANO 28 y/o, Botafogo de Maranao Image
Maranao is renowned in Oontaz as being one of the best football academies, if not the best, in the country. It also has a reputation of producing good goalkeepers from its ranks. Unfortunately, Septimio is not one of those good keepers. Sure, he's decent, and can pull off a save that could be considered world-class, but for all intents and purposes, if he really was one of the good keepers, he would not be playing in Oontaz anymore, especially not for a mid-table side like Botafogo.

RB: Marcus Oliver "Marco" PORTENCIO 20 y/o, Electric Yugal Image (Abanhfleft)
Marco Portencio is one of the new faces on the Oontaznik national football team following the sacking of Emir Usamah and the elevation of Ador Macaspac from star striker to new team manager. Marco is a quality right back who is already showing flashes of world-class brilliance, kind of like a cheap Oontaznik version of Hector Bellerin. He has pace in buckets, and he is also good for scoring a goal or two per season.

RCB: Makhdoum MACARAIG 32 y/o, Locomotive Imgortur Image (Abanhfleft)
Decent Oontaznik center backs can be hard to find, especially decent Oontaznik center backs in their early 30s or so, because in their day, attack was favored very highly over defense in the Oontaznik leagues, and therefore few 30-years-old-or-so Oontaznik defenders are actually any good at defending. Makhdoum Macaraig is one of those few rare defenders. His slow speed and ponderous build meant that he was never really suited to be anywhere near an attacking role, but that hasn't stopped him from having a good career at Abanhfleft's Locomotive Imgortur, which plays in the Fleftic Premier League. Perhaps there really are players who were meant to play in one league and not any other league.

LCB: Honesto CAMPANILLA 24 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Sometimes it is lamentable that in a competition where experience and leadership would be most valuable in a back line, all that could be scraped up was a single slow defender who somehow made it big in Abanhfleft's top flight, and a bunch of young talent that could make it or break it at any day. Campanilla, or Estong as he likes to be called, has slightly more potential than the other defenders in the team, and he also has a slightly higher chance of being an actually good player than the others. Sure, he slide-tackles at every opportunity, and it is easy for an experienced forward or even midfielder to get him booked, but Estong only has to learn to not swing himself around like a mace and he could make it big like his big partner in the center, Makhdoum Macaraig.

LB: Martin OPULENCIA 21 y/o, Real Mikkaleth Image (Abanhfleft)
Another new face from Ador Macaspac's new look Oontaznik team. Martin is a resolute left back who doesn't shrink away from making any challenges, even against players normally acknowledged as "untouchable" by other teams' defenses. He is content to remain at the back, defending his goal when needed, but sometimes he might be commanded to come up for an attack, and he doesn't shrink away from scoring a goal or two per season either.

DM: Timothy SAN MARCELINO 25 y/o, Santos FC Image
Of course it wouldn't be a real Oontaznik football team if a Santos player wasn't there. And in this part of the team, it looks as if Emir Usamah has finally assembled a team capable of making it through the World Cup qualifiers with at least a few draws and maybe a win or two. SanMar, as he's called by Oontaz fans, is, as his position states, a defensive midfielder, meaning that his main purpose is to break up any attacks attempted by the opponents before they reach the pitiful defense and the sadly shocking goalkeeper. It's a job that he does well enough that he's earned a starting spot in the most prestigious team in Oontaz Dert Li Ng.

CM: ABU NAYEF Ismailuddin 25 y/o, Pasargad Manitogoro Image
No one really thought much of Abu Nayef's inclusion to the national team since he was one of those players who was good enough in the league to get a spot in the national team, but not good enough to get a starting spot. But he's starting to earn a spot in Emir Usamah's team sheet, since he's turned out to be one of the surprise players of Oontaz's World Cup qualifying campaign. By now, he's a shoo-in for a spot on the bench, and if the going gets tough, he can handle a starting spot.
IMPORTANT: This player should be always referred to as Abu Nayef since Ismailuddin is a patronym.

RM: Haider ZULFIKAR 27 y/o, Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft)
Sometimes it can be such a shame when a good and promising player like Zulfikar ends up rotting on the bench, being unable to help his team even though he knows that he just might be the final piece of the puzzle that rescues a league campaign gone horribly wrong. Zulfikar was a member of the infamous Riuwiee United team that blew an eight-point lead at the summit of the Fleftic Premier League and turned it into an insurmountable five-point gap between first and third, where the Blue Tribesmen ended up to allow their rivals Arsenal de Releinthi to claim the title. Now, with the likes of Shinji Ikeda and Hamengkubuwono sold off or relegated to the bench, Zulfikar now has to show that he could be the change that Riuwiee and Oontaz Dert Li Ng needs.

CAM: Karimabdul DIMAINTINDIHAN 26 y/o, Thereisnogodistan FC Image (Abanhfleft)
Karimabdul became a rising star within both Abanhfleft and Oontaz when he scored a number of brilliant goals for Thereisnogodistan in the now-defunct Multiverse Premier League. His stock only rose up even further with his contributions to helping Thereisnogodistan get promoted to the Fleftic Premier League. He is the playmaking kind of attacking midfielder, setting up his teammates in scoring positions and holding up the ball if necessary. If he has a weakness, though, it's that sometimes he waits until he's crowded by the defense before making a pass. He's also making his first appearance for the national team since Magomedun Mangudadatu broke his leg in three places in an undislosed accident outside of the pitch.

LM: ZULFIQLI bin Alisher 24 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia), on loan from Arsenal de Releinthi Image (Abanhfleft)
Sometimes, there comes a time that a team becomes so full of talent in the midfield that someone has to be dropped for the sake of the other players. Zulfiqli was... someone who had this happen to him. Everyone knows of Godric Wexler's reputation for finding and producing world class players from relative unknowns. He had done much the same with Zulfiqli, but unfortunately for the Oontaznik, his quality only appeared when Wexler had finally fixed his problems in his midfield. He knew that Zulfiqli would need starting minutes if he was to keep his spot in the starting eleven of the Oontaz national team, and that's why he was loaned to Pridnestrovia's Union Rheinburg. And now Zulfiqli's a vital component to the Eisern Union's surprise title challenge in the Pridnestrovian Super League.
IMPORTANT: This player should always be referred to as Zulfiqli since bin Alisher is a patronym.

FW: Eduardo ESTEVEZ 24 y/o, FK Torpedo Telgrad Image (Arioslavia)
Eduardo is a decent striker for his age, and there's definitely room for him to grow and take up Ador Macaspac's mantle when Oontaz Dert Li Ng's star striker finally decides to hang up his boots. But it looks like this won't be the case, as Teofisto Abcede surprised everyone else and took over Estevez's spot as Macaspac's backup striker option. Still, there's no denying that Eduardo can become one of Oontaz's best strikers after the age of Dominador Macaspac draws to a close, but it's up to him to realize that potential. Santos FC sold him to Arioslavia's FK Torpedo Telgrad in exchange for Alexey Bulganin. Now starting in place of the retired Ador Macaspac, who has become the new team manager after Emir Usamah was sacked.

RESERVES
GK: Pedro MACATARUNGAN 24 y/o, Malabon SC Image (Abanhfleft)
"Macatarungan" means, in the Mayin tongue, "righteous" in the sense of "it is righteous". But there's nothing righteous about Pedro's situation right now. Everyone in the world (okay, just the Fleftic sphere of influence) thinks, nay, knows, that Pedro is one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation. So why is he not starting for Oontaz, over the likes of Septimio "Bumbling" Barranquillano? Because Bumbling Barranquillano plays in Oontaz and not in Abanhfleft, and Clan Andrade and Clan Barranquillano are close. And there isn't even a "Clan Macatarungan", just the Macatarungan family. The Oontaznik clan system strikes again to their own detriment.

GK: Usamah ROBERTS-INGLES 20 y/o, Botafogo de Maranao Image
At least Botafogo's goalkeeper academy produced another good one. Unfortunately for him, he's both too young to be the national team's starting keeper, and he's also the son of a marriage between an Oontaznik and a foreigner, so discrimination is coming into play in here. But not by much, because he's so good and the other keepers are so... crap that Emir Usamah had no choice but to call him up even though both of them know that goalie Usamah won't get to play while Emir Usamah's the manager.

DEF: Alimuddin DIMAGIBA 31 y/o, Deportivo Mangudadatu Image
Alimuddin is probably the only reason why Deportivo Mangudadatu is still in the National League even though the team is basically relegation material. He's the only player on that team who looks like he still gives a f--- if the team wins or loses. All of the other players around him is his club look like they don't even care anymore, and it's a wonder why he hasn't asked to be transferred to another team. Maybe because he knows that only Mangudadatu's rivals, Racing Al-Ampatuan, would be willing to buy him for the inflated price that he knows that Deportivo will attach to him. If he has any fault in him, it's that he's too loyal to something and would not, could not let go even given time.

DEF: Zenofilo BATOBALANI 256 y/o, Racing Al-Ampatuan Image
It's not a real Oontaznik national football team if there isn't any player from Racing Al-Ampatuan in the roster, and Batobalani fits that role nicely. Al-Ampatuan used to be one of the biggest teams in Oontaz, constantly competing with Santos and Botafogo for titles and cups, but lately they've been on a bit of a decline, and now they're considered relegation fodder just like their traditional rivals, Deportivo Mangudadatu. Batobalani once had a future of being one of the greatest Oontaznik defenders of all time, and not just the present time but of all time. But instead of moving on to more prestigious teams and letting his talent get noticed, he decided to stick it out with the constant relegation scraps between Mangudadatu and Al-Ampatuan. Perhaps it would be prudent not to mention the loaded contract that he was given by the team owners, who have been accused of masterminding one of the greatest massacres in recent history, and also one of the biggest benefactors of the nation's endemic corruption culture...

DEF: Albert James DIMACATARUNGAN 27 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Dimacatarungan's surname means "unfair" in the Mayin language, but this time, there's nothing unfair about his being on the bench. Dimacatarungan shouldn't even be anywhere near the Oontaz national team, but since he's a member of Clan Dimacatarungan, he gets a spot in the final roster. At least Emir Usamah isn't stupid enough to choose him over Estong Campanilla who, as said before, has, at least, a definite chance of becoming an actual quality player instead of Dimacatarungan, who is just plain shit. Strange to see him still in the team now that Emir Usamah is gone...

DEF: Jericson SARIMANOK 21 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Gryphons are currently the team with the best defense in the Oontaz National League, so it's actually no surprise that a lot of their defenders have been called up for national duty. What is surprising is that Jericson is not playing with the starting eleven and is instead languishing on the bench with the rest of the reserves. Oh, wait; there is a logical explanation for this: Oontaznik clan politicking. Emir Usamah does have to balance clan politics with creating the best Oontaznik team there is, and Jericson was just one sacrifice in many on the altar of clan politics.

MID: Thabo Mbokani KALIMANTAN 31 y/o, Duhblakk Rovers Image (Abanhfleft)
Thabo probably wasn't expecting to be called up to the national team when Sultan Kudarat announced that they were finally going to be entering an international competition, and who could blame him? He's a 30-year-old defensive midfielder playing for a team that had just been promoted from the fifth tier of Fleftic football, so no one was definitely paying any attention to him... or was there? Clan Kalimantan is one of the oldest clans in Oontaz, and one of the most loyal to the House of Oontaz. Thabo went to Abanhfleft to escape Oontaz's clan system, but now, it seems as if the clan's found him once again...

MID: Ronson "Ronnie" RAMIREZ 23 y/o, Real Mikkaleth Image (Abanhfleft), on loan from Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft)
Georges Leblanc spent 5 million new penenks to get Ramirez from Real Altamarino to the May 26 Memorial, but it seems a little bit too soon to say if he's had any impact in the Blue Tribesmen, and Leblanc has seen it fit to loan Ramirez out to Real Mikkaleth, who will be making to make yet another promotion push next season. Ronnie is more of a winger than a proper midfielder, but since Oontazniks never really believed in investing in proper wingers, Ronnie can fill in for that central midfield role, but not as well as when he's deployed as a real winger. Still, at least he's got a chance of breaking through and becoming a good and decent player, unlike the majority of the rest of his teammates.

MID: Macario "Mac-Mac" CORTES 24 y/o, Inseperables FC Image (Abanhfleft), on loan from Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)
Yet another promising Oontaznik youngster lured away from his home by the prestige and glamour of the Fleftic Premier League. The good thing is that Emir Usamah is setting up the team for the future, meaning that he's getting the most promising young Oontaznik players and getting them playing time with the senior team, which he knows will eventually be replaced by the youngsters once the veteran players grow old and retire. At least his reasons for being on the bench are much more justified than the others: he's still a little bit too young to be playing in the first team, and Magomedun Mangudadatu is still the best in the game in his position as CAM, which is also Mac-Mac's favored playing position. At least he gets to learn from one of the best.

MID: Mike HAGONOY 32 y/o, Santos FC Image
One of Ador Macaspac's teammates in Santos, he had been in and out of the national team for many years, mostly because he has been consistently inconsistent. He could be very hot one season and then frustratingly cold the next, most probably why no one has come for him even though Santos has been more than willing to sell him to clear up some wages. Most probably he was given a spot in the national team because he's been really good for Santos coming from the bench.

MID: Josef "Joey Boy" MACALACAN 27 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
Joey Boy is the classic box-to-box midfielder, balancing offensive and defensive duties and covering as much of the pitch as possible. Unfortunately, he has a tendency to focus on one specific duty for too long, and by the duty he could mentally shift himself from being an attacking player to a defensive player or vice versa, it's often too late, and the defense had been overrun by a competent opponent.

FW: Teofisto ABCEDE 25 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
At best, Emir Usamah thought that Teofisto would be the emergency backup worst-case-scenario striker that he would only have to deploy if both Ador Macaspac and Eduardo Estevez were somehow injured at the same time or otherwise indisposed. Instead, when the Emir decided to send out Abcede to give the lad some minutes in professional international football, Teofisto surprised everyone, even himself. No one ever suspected him of being such a good striker, having been languishing on the bench of Botafogo de Maranao for the majority of his senior career. Now, after his brilliant performances in the World Cup qualifiers, he earned himself a move to Pridnestrovia's Union Rheinburg, where they hope to utilize his talents for their first ever title push since 1988.

Manager: Steven Dumolt: 68 years old: Rosaria United

#1: GK: Demarcus Jones (Sebio City)
Age: 22 years old - Height: 6’5 - Weight: 199lbs

A very springy, agile keeper despite his big frame, Demarcus Jones hasn’t really had the chance to show what he’s all about in international play thanks to the brick wall that is Pietro Tomaselli. Jones’ main strengths are his jumping ability and his fantastic reflexes that allow him to make absolutely insane instinctive saves. He has a tendency to fade in and out of games as his concentration wanes, but as he’s only 22, plenty of time to develop the mental side of the game. Was fantastic in the innagural Echani football season, only letting in 33 goals in 38 appearances. He has big shoes to fill in taking Pietro Tomaselli's spot, but if anyone can do it, it's Demarcus.

#13: GK: Aurélian Gautier (Parisia)
Age: 16 years old - Height: 6’6 - Weight: 198lbs
Brilliant in his debut season at the tender age of 16, wonderkid Aurélian Gautier is the real deal. A huge, athletic frame with a freakish wingspan over 7ft, the 16 year old seems like he would be more adept in basketball, however the manchild stands dominant in between the sticks. As much of a giant he is, Aurélian has also been blessed with fantastic reflexes and the innate ability to throw himself to the ground in the blink of an eye. Very commanding when marshaling his defense, the youngster can only really be found at fault in his positioning, which he A. Makes up for with his size and reflexes, and B. has plenty of years left to develop the mental aspect of his game.

#2: RB (RWB/RM/RW): Francesco Di Nolfo (La Nueva Avenida---Farfadillas)
Age: 25 years old - Height: 5’11 - Weight: 153lbs

A quick player who is skilled on the ball, Francesco Di Nolfo started his career as a winger before being moved into defence. He loves to charge forward in attack, using his dribbling ability and speed to navigate the right side of the field. The first Echani player to play abroad, Di Nolfo will charge up and down the right flank as Marco van Ciavatinni sits narrow, and will undoubtedly spend plenty of time in the opposition half. He’s become far more defensively sound, and has gained a very solid sense of positioning in recent years, helping him to become a lethal weapon moving up and down the flank.

#3: CB (LB/RB): David SMITH (Alexandria United)
Age: 26 years old - Height: 6’6 - Weight: 188lbs

Stepping into the defensive line to replace the retired Ian Khamauiop, David Smith rarely ventures forward from his position at the heart of a formidable defensive line. Standing at a formidable 6'6 and 188lbs of muscle, Smith is a classic defensive strongman who's only interest lines in locking down the defense. A step slow off the mark, Smith's long strides allow him to cover plenty of ground and catch up with opposing forwards if they somehow manage to get behind him. He's the perfect foil for Luc Villaview, who has bags of pace and likes to step forward from the defensive line, hopefully forming a strong stopper-sweeper combination.

#5: CB (LB): Willian Luc Villaview (Rosaria United)
Age: 24 years old - Height: 6’1 - Weight: 168lbs

An blossoming young central defender, Luc Villaview has fantastic pace and agility, and dominates the defensive line. He recently completed a transfer to Rosaria United and will be expected to fill the gaping hole left by Ian Khamaupio's retirement. Willian frequently stepping into the space behind Samper Markovic to grab loose balls or to quickly close down a forward/midfielder to freeze them, before retreating back down the field to rejoin the defensive line. He'll form the sweeper part of a stopper-sweeper combo with David Smith at the heart of the Echani defense.

#6: LB (LM/LWB/RB): Luke Albom (Club Ithini)
Age: 28 years old - Height: 5’11 - Weight: 155lbs

A pacey left back, Luke Albom likes to operate at the left midfield spot and pushes forward and holds there when in attack to shore up space left open as Antonio Mulcair cuts inside at goal. He’s comfortable on the ball, but prefers to pass it to one of the more creative midfielders before him. Albom is a very competent defender, pushing wingers out towards the touchline and herding them out of bounds.

#12: CB (LB/RB): Elof Albin (Ilagi Macroya)
Age: 28 years old - Height: 6’4 - Weight: 197lbs
The aggressive captain of Ilagi Macroya, Elof Albin is the classic hardman enforcer that every team needs. With quick acceleration and a fantastic tackling ability, Albin is known for easily closing down opposing players before hitting them with a bone crunching tackle. He knows when to get stuck in, and when to contain, it’s just that Elof really likes to send a message that his team isn’t anything to fuck with.

#16: LB (LWB): Marten Agar (FC Rosaria)
Age: 24 years old - Height: 6’ - Weight: 153lbs
A very defensively sound, pacey left back, Marten Ager is perfect for locking up the left flank. He doesn’t offer too much going forward, indeed he is far more suited for playing as a more defensive fullback. He has a decent cross on him, but the lack of any real dribbling and 1v1 ability means that Agar likes to hang back, picking his moments to move up field and launching a ball into the middle before dropping back.

#18: RB (RWB/LB/LWB): Steven Tadeo (Rosaria United)
Age: 20 years old - Height: 6'1 - Weight: 154lbs
An energetic young right back, Steven Tadeo has fantastic pace and dribbling ability for a defender. Seriously though, this kid is fast, just a half step slower than Marshawn Mercury, and that’s saying something. Even though he started his career as a winger, and indeed made his debut on the right wing, Tadeo has very quickly adapted to the defensive game, and is fantastic at containing a threat to the touchline. He does leave a little to be desired in the tackling department, and likes to stay on his feet, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. He’s great at holding onto the ball, and his passing ability is absolutely top level. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him take the starting point sooner rather than later.

#19: CB: Valentinianus Gratiz (Alexandria United)
Age: 24 years old - Height: 6’3 - Weight: 178lbs
Valentinianus Gratiz is a strong, powerful player who combines strength and intelligence with a brilliant passing ability. He's slow off the block, but at top speed capable of competing with any forward and a great eye for the tackle, Gratiz was key in Alexandria United's international qualification campaign.

#4: RCM (CDM/CB): Samper M.arkovic (Sebio City)
Age: 22 years old - Height: 6’1 - Weight: 169lbs

A very strong player physically and defensively, Samper Markovic Samper Markovic is the rock that holds the entire Echani offensive movement together. Samper naturally drops from the midfield line into a CDM position during the run of play to break up opposing play, before carrying it upfield an offering an unpredictable and dynamic creative outlet from the midfield line. He has a brilliant range of passing, and several go-to dribbling moves to shed any pressure. Samper Markovic has blossomed wonderfully into one of the premier Echani midfielders, and was brilliant in the midfield as Sebio City finished comfortably in second in the 2016 Seria-A season.

CM (CDM/AM): #21: Deandre James (Vaduz Portcullis--New Gelderland)
Age: 22 years old - Height: 6’ - Weight: 175lbs

Beast mode, that’s the best way to describe the past year for this physical freak. A high profile move abroad and a successful season with Vaduz Portcullis saw Deandre James go from a high energy player on the national team bench, to ripping the starting position away from vice-captain Xavier Albiol and perform at a world class level. With a body and athletic ability perhaps more suited for basketball or even gridiron, Deandre James is a hulking tank in the midfield, with elite strength, a limitless motor, and decent pace contributing to James emerging as one of the premier Echani box-to-box midfielders. He still lacks a little bit of polish to the technical aspects of his game, but class coaching at Vaduz Portcullis is sure to continue Deandre James transformation into the beast of midfield.

#8: CAM (CM): Jean-Marie Bentacur (Rosaria United) VICE-CAPTAIN
Age: 23 years old - Height: 5’10 - Weight: 158lbs

An extremely creative, highly technical playmaking midfielder, Jean-Marie Bentacur has added a defensive component to his game to become a complete midfielder. The unquestionable best Echani midfielder brings an instant offensive spark the moment he steps on the pitch. A quick and electric dribbler, Jean-Marie seeks to drive forward in attack and to make use of his dribbling, silky smooth touch, an eye for the killer pass, and a fantastic long shot. A key component of the national team, Jean-Marie Bentacur keeps the offensive game clicking, while also dropping back next to Xavier in defense to help regain possession. Bentacur has really evolved into a complete midfielder, capable of defending, supporting possession, and leading the charge himself. He is in the running for Best Player of the Year for the 2016 Echani Seria-A, scoring six times and assisting a staggering 23 times as he ran the show in Rosaria United's championship winning team.

#11: AM: Augustin Markel (Sebio City)
Age: 25 years old - Height: 5’11 - Weight: 155lbs
An extremely technically gifted player, Augustin Markel has remarkable close control over the ball, and with an eye for the killer pass, Markel is fantastic at unlocking defenses and opening up an avenue for the final ball to be played through. He lacks a finishing and long shooting ability, but when he weaves his way through the defense with the ball glued to his feet, all will be forgiven.

A fantastic defensive midfielder and possession recycling asset, Iñaki Williams is the perfect shield for the defensive line. He rarely pushes forward from his spot in front of the defense, and prefers to simply lay the ball off to more creative players then try to produce some magic himself. He possess a vastly underrated long ball ability, able to ping the ball forward and land exactly where wanted it.

Age: 21 years old - Height: 6’0 - Weight: 164lbs
A complete, consistent, hardworking and versatile midfielder, Xabi Arisilde and is capable of playing both center midfielder and defensive midfielder. Arisilde has good technique, solid vision, and fantastic passing range, he play as the deep-lying playmaker in a talented Parisia squad. In addition to his creative brilliance, he is also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder due to his strength and powerful build, combined with his rabid tenacity, football intelligence, aggressive tackling style and his mind that has been made to read the game. Occasionally guilty of committing hard challenges, and for his tendency to blow his top and rack up cards for particularly hard fouls.

#7: RW (ST/LW/CAM): Marco van Ciavatinni (Sebio City) THIRD-CAPTAIN
Age: 18 years old - Height: 5’8 - Weight: 144lbs

The golden boy of Echani football, Marco van Ciavatinni grabbed the starting winger spot at the tail end of the 73rd World Cup thanks to an injury to LaHoya and hasn’t looked back yet. van Ciavatinni, ever since he burst onto the youth stage at 11 years of age, is clearly a once in a generation player. A brilliant attacking threat, van Ciavatinni is a real livewire with the ball at his feet, and might actually move faster when he’s dribbling. A beautifully simple player, Marco is a master of feints, stop and starts, simple moves to send his opponent one way while he goes the other. He has a sharp eye for the pass, and has already displayed a wide passing range. He was simply superb in the inaugural Echani Seria-A, scoring 18 goals and assisting a further 16. Superb. ST: #22: Dex Temple (Sebio City)
Age: 24 years old - Height: 6'3 - Weight: 191lbs

A pacey, hot headed, physically strong player, Dex Temple brings the attitude to a young Sebio City with his playstyle exhibiting power and toeing the line. The moment the whistle goes, the normally cheerful and laughing Dex Temple is playing at 100%. He uses his outstanding speed and stamina to chase down every ball, and rides the shoulder of any defender or midfielder he catches up to and hassles them until he knocks the ball loose or commits a foul. Never missing a chance to talk shit on the field, Dex Temple makes a living off the smallest of poor touches; in a flash he's on you and got the ball loose and is smashing the ball past the keeper. Somewhat easy to wind up, Dex loves it when an opponent is willing to be physical and applauds a "good fight" as he calls it, and yells his displeasure when the opponent or he is called for a foul. Scored 28 goals, good for second in the league with 2 reds, 11 yellows, and 10 assists.

#9: LW (ST): Antonio Mulcair (Rosaria United) VICE-CAPTAIN
Age: 31 years old - Height: 6’2 - Weight: 165lbs

The main goalscoring threat for the Echani team, Antonio Mulcair is a deadly false winger with terrific dribbling and shooting abilities. Always looking to score, Muclair sits narrow on the wing, declining to track back defensively so he can break quickly when the attack is on. He likes to run at the opponent before calling on a wide repertoire of dribbling moves before unleashing a fierce shot. At 31 years of age, we'll be interested to see how the hawk approaches the future, but if his league best 30 goals and further six assists have anything to say about it, he'll be just fine.

A nice, well rounded two footed winger, Noah Silvio is capable of playing on either flank to deadly effect. While he isn’t spectacular at any single aspect of play, he possess strong crossing, dribbling, pace, and finishing ability that makes him a valuable contributor off the bench, capable of bringing energy and a multi-dimensional threat to the game. 7 goals and 18 assists for the championship winning Rosaria United, and certainly has more to contribute as he enters his prime. On the verge of a move abroad.

#20: AM (LW/RW/ST): Marshawn Mercury (Sebio City)
Age: 19 years old - Height: 6’3 - Weight: 161lbs: 21/1/2: Sebio City
One of the most entertaining Echani players, Marshawn Mercury combines world class speed, this kid is easily the fastest player we’ve ever seen come from Eshan, and he’s managed to combine that with a fantastic dribbling ability. Add in natural flair and a penchant for the spectacular, and you have a truly jaw dropping player who constantly amazes and bamboozles with his creative dribbling moves. He is limited in his playstyle, as finishing and crossing are abilities that evade him for the moment, but reports of his determination and desire to improve are emerging from training camps and that can only bode well for his development. Anyhow, with his speed and dribbling ability, he’s already an invaluable asset to any team. Plus, at 19 years young, plenty of time for him to grow and develop. Had a fantastic debut season, with 7 goals, and 16 assists.

#17: ST: Anthony Baudelio (Alexandria United)
Age: 18 years old - Height: 6'2 - Weight: 171lbs
For a young lad, Baudelio certainly has an intriguing skill set. Standing at 6’2, 171lbs, the 18 year old is a body for sure. He has the size and strength to bully defensive lines, but he has also been blessed with absolutely incredible pace, and the combination of the two allow him to influence the game based on his physical gifts alone. Add in a solid, if developing dribbling game, and you have a really special player on your hands. As more of an out and out striker, Baudelio isn’t much involved with build up play; his passing leaves a little to be desired, and as an attribute on the developmental back burner it might be a few years before we see him chipping in with some sweet assists but that’s beside the point. He’s already a decent finisher, and one of his main strengths comes from how incredibly composed he is in front of goal, an ice cold finisher. Had a slow start in his debut season, but eventually caught fire and scored 21 goals (7 assists), 6th most in the league.

#10: ST (AM): Irlian Ceka (Royal Queenstown---New Gelderland)
Age: 30 years old - Height: 5’10 - Weight: 155lbs
A striker very suitable for the probing possession based game Eshan plays, Irlian Ceka likes to roam from the striker position to find areas where he can help play build. Strong passing and dribbling skills lead to Ceka creating plenty of chances for his teammates. However, as an actual scoring striker, Irlian Ceka leaves a lot to be desired. This isn't necessarily a bad thing in the Echani system and formation, with Antonio Mulcair being the team's main goalscoring threat and van Ciavatinni proving his international goalscoring credentials.

Starting formation: The Eshan National Team plays a 4-1-2-3, with Smith holding position in the center of the defensive line, and Luc Villaview chasing down the ball. 2 all-purpose wingbacks work the flanks, while the defensive midfielder, Samper Markovic, is a physical presence tasked with breaking up opposing play, winning the ball, and offering an unpredictable creative outlet for the team, always looking to create chances for his teammates. Deandre James plays as a box-to-box midfielder (LCM), while Jean-Marie Bentacur (RCM) plays as an advanced playmaker and really dictates the offensive game. The two wingers act as both inside-forwards, given the freedom to cut in and attack goal or look for the overlapping wingbacks. Antonio Mulcair is the team's primary goal scoring threat from his perch on the left wing; waiting for the ball to make its way to him, while Marco van Ciavatinni sits on the right wing and frequently drifts inside to collect the ball, and he makes use of his unique talent to read the game and do as he deems right. As the game progresses, the Echani team will switch to different formations to counter certain threats, take advantage of mismatches, and to react to the game and try to influence it in a pro-Echani way.

Playstyle: The Echani team plays a high-energy attacking game, moving the ball around quickly with primarily short passes, searching for a weakness in the oppositions defensive play. When a weakness is identified, the team surges forward in attack, with quick interlocking play to bring to ball to the goal. Creative freedom is given to the strikers, wingers, and the advanced playmaking midfielder, as well as the directive to roam from their position in an attempt to find pockets of space where they may be more effective. The team closes down quickly, aiming to win back possession in five seconds or less. Failing that, the team drops deep into defensive positioning to shore up any vulnerabilities. Echani defenders stay on their feet rather than trying desperate slide tackles. They love a good physical jostle with an opponent, and all Echani players are expected to contribute to both attack and defense. When in attack, the defensive line pushes higher up to pitch to condense play.

Most Likely to: (in order 1-3)
Score: Antonio Mulcair cutting in from the left wing, Dex Temple knocking the ball free from a defender with pace and having a 1v1, Marco van Ciavatinni dribbling/passing his way into a 1v1 with a simple, accurate finish or beating 4 and chipping the keeper.
Assist: Jean-Marie Bentacur from the midfield after beating a man, van Ciavatinni with a cutting pass from the right wing, Samper Markovic with a deep pass from midfield.
Foul: Any defender, or Dex Temple failing to knock the ball free from a defender.
Card: Elof Albin being a destroyer, Dex Temple reacting to a call, Luc Villaview if defense is overwhelmed, David Smith if he's the last man to prevent a clear cut chance.
