Fort Shattrath, Inside Mount Chalice

Qaldor Dukalise arose from bed at his own leasure, taking his time to look at the window and stare across the mountain side. The view always amazed him, and he marveled at the beauty of the world before him. But as all good things must come to an end, his chancellor opens the chamber door, slowly stepping inside. His heavy boots slamming against the stone floor with every step he took.

"Daren, what brings you to my quarters so early? News?"

"Indeed sire. The Lord has sent word. He shall arrive at your court in 2 weeks time as he is currently out of his realm. We also have word that many Nobles, or atleast the ones that matter, will be joining us. As well as that one noble woman you took a liking too."

A wide grin crosses his face at the thought of the meeting. The most powerful men in the realm, in one room. HIS room. And to speak to the lord at such a time, an expansion of the duchy might be worked out as someone may need to govern new territories. And Azure... He flushed slightly thinking about her and quickly had other thoughts as he was embarrassed for the Chancellor, who had practically raised him, to see him like this. They were as close as 2 men can be and the balding man, 36 years his senior, would never let him live down this infatuation for a woman he has only heard petty court whispers about. But news of her acceptance have him hope that she and him would atleast get some time alone. Maybe he wou-

"Sir?" The chancellor inquired, breaking his chain of thought. "Do you think that is a good plan?"

"Apologies, I didn't quite catch the finer details."

"You never were easy to plan with." The old man lets out a low chuckle as he repeats himself. "I asked if you thought maybe we should work on the seating, putting the Lords Family to your left, and the maiden on your right."

He ponders the thought for a moment, but declined. "There will be no seating arrangement. The Nobles sit where they please. Now the menue! That is something we need to work on!" And with that the Duke ran out of his chambers and down to the kitchen.

The chancellor laughed at his young behavior. "I swear he is still a boy sometimes."

Whistling to himself, he follows the Duke down the staircase.

Agreed my friend but, I do not think you will change loyalties anytime soon the King has commenced The Firemen to be the religion embraced by the King. He most likely does this to get power as past kings have before him. We live in furrowed times my friend this is why we need this alliance to watch each other's backs.

I hope you will sign this pact Lord Tyrus, we need you.

Tyrus looked over the sheeet of paper, before taking up his pen, and writing his name. He then put the pen back down, and stepped back.

Is there something wrong friend? Would you like more time to think on this? I only want to make this pact so that we may protect each other's back as I hear the King has decreed the Firemen to be the Kingdom's main religion. There will be a heretic inquisition and we will need your back when that and war comes to our fronts.

"Well," said Tyrus, "No matter how blood crazed the firemen may be, they will have a hard time attacking anyone through the mountains. If they were to try it, we could bury them in boulders and mud, and pelt them with arrows as they try to clear the roads again." Tyrus drummed on his legs, before continuing, "wouldnt be the first time my men have fought Firemen either. They had a fort in the north for a few years, and would raid the towns and settlements in my holdings. That is until we burned them in their fort with the very thing they worshiped so desperately."

There is a time for everything right now we need to start building reserves. Lord Tyrus if you do agree to this pact then you should start producing metal to make into weapons and armor. Lord Ethor start training soldiers and recruiting for reserves. I will build food reserves.

You speak the truth Lord Tyrus. Us three and the Divison will liberate the Kingdom of Lavell and unite it against Young King Elyas the Kinslayer!

All 1000 soldiers and peasantry at the grand feast cheer and roar in celebration and agreement of the message sent by Lord Miller and his two new brothers in arms!

Saxon was still very angry about the mercenaries in the city. But he had found a scape goat, a servant who brought food to the dungeon who hates the king. But he had at least got something to get the King to back off at least for now. But he had hopped for Lord Miller to have sent someone by now, but Saxon was now sitting at his desk doing some paper work. Saxon has been thinking of ways to get rid of the king's supporters in the palace. If he didn't get rid of them, they would become a thorn in his side such as the steward. But Saxon did not see the steward as a threat if he tried anything. Saxon could challenge him to a duel to protect his honor. But this new move by the king wasn't a good one. Saxon posted more Royal guards at the gate to the palace to ensure the safety of those coming and going. Then a servant walked in and Saxon handed him a note for the king.

Mi'King,

I have found who has been getting the peasants out of the dungeon. He has been using his access to the dungeon to help them escape and if he was working alone or with others I do not know. But at least we have stopped this enemy to the throne once and for all. He has been lets say taken care of and you need not know the details, the less you know the better you will be.

Sincerely,
King's Guard Captain Saxon

Then a boy walked into his office bearing the seal of the Lord he had sent the message too. "Welcome, come back here and lock the door. I am the leader of the people your looking for. But I expected your father, but I will take what I can get. I hope you have a plan, cause the steward and I are at odds right now. So my position maybe at risk in many ways. Several officials have started to doubt I can do this job, but with my family's service. I should be safe, so what can I help you with?" Asked Saxon is a hushed voice.

I have merely come to greet you and tell you my father will back you. Frederickson says in a hushed voice. Seconds later Charles, Frederickson's bodyguard walks in with a prisoner in chains.
Charles: I've brought a man who stopped us along the road he may be of service to you as you can use him as a "supposed rebel" you caught. Present it to the king show that this man is a trouble maker in the rebellion and this will buy you some time. Other than that, you can expect Lord Miller to support you just write him with your needs. Charles says it the softest he can.

To Duke Qaldor Dukalise,
You honor me with your words. It would please me to no end to participate and become acquainted with the lords and ladies of the realm, as well as the man who brought them all together.
As I'm sure you are also aware, good Lord Davith, blessed be his memory, has passed from this world. I believe the loss of his wife drove his mind to grief, and few men are strong enough to overcome a broken heart. Since Davith left no heir, Tikkemund began to lose control until a man known as Sveter took control in a grand show of leadership and turned chaos into order; I have known Sveter for awhile now and have witnessed his ability to govern firsthand. To make it official, he shall escort me to the feast and meet the other lords. I hope that you will consider such a capable man to hold the title of Lord of Tikkemund, for I know I do.
May we meet joyfully at the feast, and leave filled with food and camaraderie.

-Lady Clara Azurose

Clara let the ink dry on the sheet, folded it together and stamped it with her signet ring; a blue rose. An impossible thing to find, save for her family's estate in Iglothra. She longed to return to it and walk among the gardens of blue and green. One day, she reminded herself, I shall have a whole sea of them.

With delicacy, she handed the letter to Serena and bade her to deliver it promptly. Turning to Tiana she ordered that she start packing all the essentials she would need for the trip. A knock came at her door, and she heard her bodyguard Devlan call out "Ser Sveter is here to see you, m'ady."

"Come in, Sveter," she called out.

(OOC: Going out to dinner with my BF. Will be back around 10 CT or so)

Geoffrey Hyville
Baron Hyville
Lord Steward of Kingshill
Keeper of Records and Laws
Arch-Treasurer

Kingshill

After Magpie left Geoffrey just sat in his room - the Firemen were back. He remembered a time, a long time ago, when there was a Fire King, one who derived there powerbase from the Firemen - it did not end well. This could mean disaster, he had built himself up not being a pious man. He took not piety into consideration, he had fornicated with men and had probably committed many other heresies in his life and career.

The Firemen where dangerous, they were fanatical and they let nothing get in their way. He was in danger, if he didn't play his cards right. He would not be seeing Henry for a while and he would have to scour his room for any traces of his presence. He had to calm himself, and figure out his next move. He had three options, the first one was to flee with the Magpie, though he felt that would be risky - he was to difficult to read. He had assessed Magpie before, and he felt that often Magpie tried to communicate that he knew something, something about Geoffrey's...romantic preference. He wondered if Magpie was one of the "men like us" he so often talked about.

His next option was to return to Hyville, that was no good either, the Lord of the Realm of Igolthra despised him. He would have to remain in Kingshill for the time being, but he would be careful - Geoffrey new how to be careful.

He made his way to his rooms, and for the next three hours he searched every corner of the plainly furnished room for any trace of Henry. Then he made his way back to his desk and penned a letter to his wife, warning her not to come after all.

Margery,

Do not come. The Firemen have been empowered by King Elyas.

Geoffrey

He then began to remove all symbols of his faith from the room, every nine-pointed star, his holy book, and his sacred paints. He stashed them away in the wall of Steward's Passage behind a loose brick. Geoffrey then took the Steward's Passage once more and made his way into Henry's room, where he preparing for his evening meal. "My star-" he began, before Geoffrey silenced him with a kiss. "We will not kiss like that for some time, my prince. Elyas has empowered the Firemen, and we shall likely burn at their altars for who we are. I want you at dinner to bring up the subject, so that the other servants can have time to hide their faiths."

Geoffrey then flew off, collecting papers so he could meet with the king. He told a page to go to the royal chamber and request a meeting, for as soon as possible.

Baldwin of Fyrhall
Grand Inquisitor of the Temple of Fire in Kingshill

Baldwin was pleased, ever so pleased. What more could he want? A King had accepted their faith! Oh the near future! A great wave of fire would sweep the land and all the heretics would be cleansed and Lavell would be only left with the purity of their faith. Baldwin began to dress himself. He put on his cardinal-red robe, his special hat and adorned himself with many religious icons - so as to impress the newly converted king.

He stepped out from the temple, with a procession of priests, but no guards behind him. No one would dare attack him. Each priest, with a hooded scarlet cloak, carries either a basin of fire or ash. Some carry banners, with a flame emblazoned on or. They made their way through the streets of Kingshill to the palace, chanting sacred incantations the whole way. Behind them, quite a parade of peasants followed, perhaps a few thousand devout souls - all chanting as one.

They arrive at the gates of the palace.

"It is I, Baldwin of Fyrhall, Grand Inquisitor of the Temple of Fire - I have come to seek an audience with our one true King."

Baldwin has plans, many plans - soon the King would be surrounded by Firemen - all of them bring about the ultimate goal of a Kingdom of God on Earth. But first he had to deal with staff of the palace and the administration, the people who got things done. He knows for a fact they were all heretics - people who deny the authority of Baxelheric and instead do good deeds to make up for the actions of a sinful god - the Faith of None.

All across the city since the proclamation by King Elyas, the pious have been kidnapping prostitutes, and deviants, they shall be burnt at the stake. They have burned idols of false gods and attacked praying congregations. So begins the age of fire.

Zaahir found himself in an alleyway, not really sure where he was going, but very sure that he was lost. He had wandering around, with no real destination, for much of the morning, and had gone into the alleyways looking for something other than the pretty whitewashed walls of Kingshill. He had been rather disappointed. Almost everywhere had the same look to it, though the alleys did have significantly more shadows, due to their tight nature, and seemed to be a favorite place for beggars to sleep. He now looked up at the wall in a dead end. He turned around, and looked back the way he had come. He started walking back, trying to find his way. He was successful for a while, but eventually found himself at an intersection that he didn't remember. He looked in both directions, but couldn't remember which one he had come from, and eventually decided to take the path that seemed to move in a more direct route to the palace.

A beggar was at his feet, and stuck his hands out to Zaahir. He ignored the man, and passed by without a word, his robes and clothing billowing out some behind him. As he walked, he became more and more aware of his being followed. He hoped that whoever was behind him was going to turn off and head down another street, but after three more intersections, Zaahir turned around to face whoever was behind him. He looked into the eyes of three young men, each of them carrying with them a sword. Short, ragged looking swords, but swords none the less.

"What are you looking at, Eastman," said the one on the left, narrowing his eyes at Zaahir.

"Im not sure," he replied, bringing his hand up to flap his chain mail back and forth again, "but it appears to be three young men who are going to do something they will regret."

"Only person who will regret anything is you, sellsword."

Zaahir only stared at the men blankly, his mouth slightly open. The men in front of him seemed a bit uncomfortable, waiting for him to reply.

"Well, say something," said the man in the middle.

"You're not from the sun, are you?" Zaahir stepped forward, and squinted in the faces of the three men, "Because, you dont look like you're from the sun." The men gave him wary looks, and clutched their swords. They looked back and forth between the three of them, as if searching for some sort of conformation to try and kill him. "No, I dont think you boys are from the sun. . ."

"What are you talking about, Eastman?" asked the one in the middle.

"The sun, what else would I be talking about? Dont you boys know, the sun is going to swoop in one day, and consume us all. But you see, I now this, and the sun knows I know this, so it sends its sun people to try and kill me so I cant stop it, but-"

"Shut up!" Zaahir closed his mouth, and looked to the one on the right, who had yelled. "I dont care about your damn sun, you crazy fool. Yove come into our city with your damned soldiers, and now you just traipse around like you own the place. But the Division wont allow that, so we are here to kill you, the leader of your men,-"

"You boys look to young to be from he Division. Anyways, as I was saying, the sun-"

"I said shut up! Listen when I talk to you! The Division may not have sent us, but we'll be remembered by the Division when we kill you, you Eastman sellsword scum!"

Zaahir stepped forward, and got within an inch of the young man on the right, who was doing the talking. Suddenly his crazy had been stored in th back of his mind, and he was all soldier. All warrior, and killer.

"Ive killed children for far less than what you have said to me, Westman, and I suggest that you think very carefully about what you are doing before you start it. I do not tire easily, and you would be nothing by another notch in my hilt after I was done."

The young man stared into Zaahir's eyes, and although he didn't show it, he felt a sudden pang of fear like nothing he had ever imagined. But, he sumoned up all of his courage, and pushed Zaahir over into the dirt of the alleyway, before drawing his chinked, rusty sword and raising it above his head to kill Zaahir.

Zaahirs leg shot out as soon as he saw the sword was drawn, and kicked the boy in the knee, breaking his leg with an audible crack. The boy fell with a shout, and his sword fell into the dirt with a clank as he grabbed his now crooked leg and screamed on the ground. Zaahir stood, and backed up as he drew his own sword, a long cold scimitar. He took a defensive stance as the other two boys drew their swords. there was a brief pause, before the one on the left charged forward.

He swung his sword at Zaahir, who ducked beneath it, and brought himself around behind him, kicking him in the back and watching the young man fall onto his face. He slid his shield from his back and onto his arm, and turned to see the second man coming at him. He raised his shield, and felt the impact of his enemy's sword. The attack slid off of the bronze harmlessly, and Zaahir swung his own sword at his opponent, catching him on the side of he head. He watched as the young mans head was split almost completely off, before he fell to the ground with a thud, dead.
He turned again to see the last opponent standing before him. He swung his sword at Zaahir, trying to cut his legs. Zaahir jumped, and brought his whole body weight down on his enemy's sword, taking it out of his hands, before kicking the man in the testicles. The man fell to his knees, clutching his crotch, and Zaahir, without any hesitation, brought his sword down onto his neck, cleaving his head from his shoulders.

Zaahir stood, panting, and looked over the two he had killed, before turning around and looking at the man who's leg he had broken.

"The sun is never going to let you go now, Westman," he said, before smiling his crooked grin. But now, it didnt look like it had when he flashed it at the king. Then it had seemed harmless, just a crazy man and his crazy smile. But as the boy lay on the ground and looked at Zaahir, he didnt see a strange, crazy man, he saw a monster.

"Y-you. . . You killed them. . ."

Zaahir began to walk to his first victim in the fight, "Yes I did," he said, "and do you know what Im going to do to you?"

"Dont, please, dont kill me. . . Ill do anything, I swear, ill never tell what you did, I wont, I swear on all the gods, just, plea-"

"Quiet," said Zaahir, crouching down in front of him, "Im not going to kill you. You get to tell everyone what I did here, so they know to fear the soldiers of the Open Hand." Zaahir picked up a rock from the ground, and brought it to his swords hilt, and made two tick marks in the wood. They were only a fraction in a sea of others, all the others who Zaahir had killed in his life.

"Okay, okay, Ill tell, I swear it. . ."

"Good!" said Zaahir, smiling again, before standing up and sheathing his sword. He looked around and saw that people were starting to come out of the doorways and around the alley corners to see what had transpired. Zaahir ignored them, and walked down the alleyway to the palace. The crowed quickly parted to let him pass, and watched him go, suddenly fearful of these newcomers in the city. As Zaahir walked away, he heard the crowed begin to converge on the survivor to take care of him, put a splint on his leg, and ask what had happened. Zaahir couldn't know what the boy said, but if he had listened, he would of heard the boy call him a demon.

To the Renowned Frederick Miller, Lord of the Realm of Iglothra

The talk of Revolution is to loud in the courts for one to ignore. I would like to inform you that the Duchy of Shattrath and Mount Chalice stand by your side against the Tyranny of the Wild King. I would like to formally invite you, and the other nobles of your court, to my Grand Feast in a months time. I hope we may all rejoice and spend the night as Brothers in friendship before we meet on the battlefield as Brothers in Arms."

I write other letters to the other Lords that are partaking in the Revolution. I heat the Dukalise Wax Seal and stamp the letters closed. I then walk to the top of the mountain and head to the Falcons nest. I give the Rolled up scrolls to the Falcons, who grip them, give an almost knowing nod, and descend from the Peak of the mountain to deliver their messages. The Falconer watches the Birds of Prey go out on their messaging job. "Why do you use Birds of Sport for such medial tasks as sending messages when pigeons work just as fine?"

I smiled and responded to his inquiry, one of which I have been asked many times. "They are smarter. And faster. They take only the fastest routes, and will only stop in order to survive. I believe the Falcon is the only bird suitable for performing high value tasks no matter what they may be. I heard your daughter loves the birds."

The Falconer was slightly taken back but responded. "She is. She loves the birds. She recently turned 16 so I bought her one of her own."

I smiled, "Would she like to be the caretaker for my personal messenger Falcons?"

He stood there as his mouth dropped. "But... Why... You have no reason to do this!"

This is when it gets good. "Of course I do. I need someone to watch my Falcons, you have someone who wishes to watch my Falcons, and who better then the daughter of someone I trust, and someone who actually enjoys these animals. She starts tomorrow at sunrise. Let her know she will be on a standard servants salary and expected to report to the Head Maiden at noon to show her to her new quarters."

He is almost bumbling at this point. "Thank you so much! She will be ecstatic! I will let her know right away!" He quickly scurries out to the small Hamlet outside the mountain to inform his daughter of the news.

I simply smile, and stare up at the stars. A leader who does not help his servants, has no right to help himself. For their role is just as important as his in the survival of the Kingdom. It also helps stop the possibility of rebellions. "Speaking of rebellions, I really need to get that menu ready. Maybe Cheese soup? And a nice boar? Yea. That sounds nice."

Sveter enters, nodding his head slightly to the servant as he passes. He crosses the room silently, his feet making no noise on the smooth floor. He wears a large smile on his face as he quickly eyes the young woman up and down in front of him. One might mistake the way he looks at her as something sexual, but it is a look of pride. He views himself as something of a father to the girl only... deeper. He sees how she has grown into an fine young thing, and will soon blossom into a powerful political monster.

He stops just a few feet shy of her bed and places a silken bag on it, the kind that you would keep a dress in. "For you." He says. "I want you to wear it on the night. I have similar ones for your maidens here, but I assure you that yours will steal the show." He steps back from the bed and motions with his hand for her to see it for herself. Inside lies a dress that has been constructed with utmost care. It covers much of the body as to not be scandalous, but it clings tight to the curves of the body. It is mostly red, with black lacing and hemming. It flows at the skirt and covers the entirety of the legs and most the arms, but Sveter has made sure that the shoulders are exposed, if only slightly. It is a dress designed to attract eyes. Heads will turn, jaws will drop, and men will go against their oaths of matrimony. In this dress, Clara will be a prize, but Sveter will make sure that no man will even get close to winning her unless he truly deserves it.

He always had a taste for beauty and style. The old lord had very little eye for either and much of his castle lay in disrepair. The ancient tapestries were faded, the floors were bare stone and the halls were dark. Now, new risque paintings of various mythological heroes and villains and monsters, portraits of ancient philosophers and realistic scenes of still life adorn the walls. The floors are meticulously cleaned every day by servants, and they have been smoothed out and carpeted where necessary. Every hall, from the highest tower to the lowest dungeon is lit brightly with torch sconces. Even the walls of the castle have been scrubbed clean of vines and the other parasitic plants that dominate the swamps. His servants are even outfitted in clothes of red, the secondary colour of his as-yet-nameless house.

Formerly Khanastan; the Praetorian Empire is set in the same geographical region, only around 200 years earlier.

The Praetorian Empire is a PreT nation set in a world going through an age similar to the Victorian Era - a world of Great Powers, Imperialism, Political Revolution and Technological Advancement where the capitalist machine is beginning to stir into action and when nations were at their largest and grandest. If anyone wants to roleplay a time in that era, feel free to TG me.

Fortress of Honeybarrow
Council Room
Spymaster: Sir, a courier came with a letter earlier from a Duke in Laesosphere.
Lord Miller: Lord Tyrus should hear of this then ask him to join us in this meeting as well as Lord Ethor as soon as they are ready. Other than that let me see it.

To the Renowned Frederick Miller, Lord of the Realm of Iglothra

I would like to formally invite you, and the other nobles of your court, to my Grand Feast in a months time. I hope we may all rejoice and spend the night as Brothers in friendship before we meet on the battlefield as Brothers in Arms."

Lord Miller: We will need every friend we can get. I'm thinking of contacting the Baron of Hyville and offering him safe transport to the Fortress of Honeybarrow in exchange for his services and loyalty to the rebellion. I know he will have no choice to accept because, they are persecuting all non Firemen believers. Here in Iglothra there is no hate nor persecution. First, let me right a letter back to the new member of our rebellion.

To the Most Esteemed Duke of Shattrath, from Lord Miller

I've read your message and received it. I'm sure that I and my fellow alliance members can come to the grand feast. We would love for you to become a member of the rebellion all that we ask is that you sign the pact of unity. In this war in the near future you will be playing a crucial part in the defense of the rebel homeland as you are the only mountain seperating the Royal Peninsula from the rest of Lavell. Other than that in a month's time I, Lord Tyrus, and Lord Ethor can come.

Signed, Lord of Iglothra, Frederick Miller

Lord Miller finishes the letter with a sense of relief that he now has another friend in the near future of war.

To the Baron of Hyville from, Lord Miller

Greeting Geoffrey, I know that our two families have not been in the exactly best situation but, somewhere things were meant to be at the start. And I write to you in haste as I've heard of the religious turmoil happening in Kingshill. King Elyas has decreed the Firemen religion the official one, and I also know there is a religious inquisition going on over there and soon to spread. I hope that you and I can put aside our differences to put down King Elyas. I know that this is both good for me and you. If we are discovered the King will strip our titles and kill us through a bloody war, a war which is bound to happen eventually. I need your services in Iglothra. I need you to manage the finances of the rebellion when it comes time. And I can offer you safe escort through the city and all the way to the Fortress of Honeybarrow, which is as you know the furthest from Kingshill. And you will soon if you accept preside in Fort Ataxia soon to be the most heavily guarded fort of all of Lavell. We in the rebellion do not hate nor persecute another's religion rather we respect and are thoughtful of another's situation. I know of your religion. I know that you've hired mostly people of The Faith of None, and that you will be persecuted if found by Inquisitors of the Firemen religion. So, again I ask you to join us in the rebellion to help us win this war financially stable. I know if you stay you will be found out by Firemen and persecuted so please, take this chance set aside our differences and join hands in the rebellion. If you accept my son and his bodyguard can escort you to the Fortress of Honeybarrow, and I'm sure that he will have made an ally close within who can provide some soldiers to protect you along the way. I have many allies that will ensure that no harm may come to you along the way even while traveling through Obbunium and Laesosphere you will be safe.

Signed, Lord Miller

To Charles Goodford

Charles, I send you this message in haste to watch out for a man names Goeffrey the King's Arch- Steward if he is to be persecuted and killed by religious fanatics stop them and escape with Goeffrey to Honeybarrow. Make the first stop at Mount Shattrath a Duke there will be hospitable towards you. I have found that is better to recruit this man then assassinate him.

Godspeed Charles, Signed, Lord Miller

Charles Goodford: I know that Lord Miller is doing a project where he's rebuilding a fort in Iglothra that will act as the rebellion headquarters and that is where you can meet him and all of the rebellions allies when your ready.

Saxon shook his head, "I told your father that I needed loyal men who were against the king. Plus, I thought your father would have sent the men with you. Bit no matter, the Division requests a meeting with all our allies. Seeing as we can't meet in the city, I was hopping your father could help with that." Informed Saxon as he looked at the bandit as he was brought in. "Yes, we have been looking for him for awhile now. He has been raiding weapon shipments for a month now. It's a good thing you brought him to me. I will deal with him right away, but like I said. The Division needs to meet with the Rebellion of this war is going to win. With your father's allies and our inside knowledge, I don't think the king will see this coming." Informed Saxon as he looked out the window then walked over to the bandit and knocked him out.

Clara stated as much excitedly. "Sveter, this is gorgeous! Wherever did you find it? It must've cost a fortune!" She did appreciate Sveter's sense of style; after all, he managed to make the castle a rather pleasant place to live, considering the region it was located in.
She stood in front of the mirro rat the corner of her room. Holding the dress over her, she imagined how many eyes would be upon her at the feast. Movement in the background was from Sveter re positioning himself on the bed. Despite who he was and the mystery that surrounded him, Clara trusted him; he was her strongest ally, and the closest thing she had to a friend at this point.
Her eyes met him in the glass as she began to remove her nightgown; she knew that Sveter thought her attractive but for completely different reasons. While in the process of trying on her new articles, she recalled to mind the letter she had sent. "Dukalis seems rather interested in my affections. He's not a bad sort, and certainly not an incompetent sort."

Croft gave a little drunken laugh. "Very well, Master Magpie, very well. I suppose...I would be remiss if I declined. I accept. Fair and done. However you'd like to say it." He rose, shaking the Magpie's hand, and his young servant rose with him.

Collen was finally able to look properly upon the countenance of the Magpie, whose name he had heard a few times before, mostly thrown between strings of vile curses from Croft, who, in his pettiness, had a hatred for all men more powerful than himself. The boy was surprised to see that the man was nearly as spare as himself, albeit looking more so from illness than from ill-use. There was something he sensed about this enigmatic merchant- a sense of kinship, in the way of spirit? Or, perhaps, it was like gazing into some wishful looking glass; how often had Collen dreamt of speaking to people in the manner that the Magpie spoke to his master. And yet his admiration was clouded. This was a man who used people. The kind of man Croft would be, had he the intelligence.

It was then that Collen did a very foolish thing.

Something about the Magpie's presence, for ill or otherwise, woke something in him. When Croft pulled at the leash, Collen held his ground as firmly as he could, bracing himself against the tavern table. The leather bit viciously into the flesh of his neck and throat, but he ignored that pain.

"Whelp," Croft growled, trying not to lose all decorum in front of his new business partner. "Come here." He yanked harder on the leather, and Collen lost his balance for a moment, but the boy tugged back at the leash.

The boy did not look at his master, staring instead into the hood of the Magpie, seeking. Approval, scorn, even an admonishment to obey his master--Collen would have taken any of them. But in his moment of defiance, he could look only at the famed merchant.

He watches her intently as she holds the dress up to herself. It suits her perfectly and it's just as well, it cost him a fortune in smuggled silk and fabric. And imprisoning those skilled seamstresses when they could be working on other things probably wasn't the best thing for the already fragile economy. Nonetheless, this feast must go perfectly, and he would have Clara, the queen of his chessboard, looking perfect for it.

He has the decency to avert his eyes as she changes, looking out beyond the balcony of her suite, out north. The swamps there were dredged long, long ago, and much of the only productive land lies out that way. The mountains of Laesophere could be seen on the misty horizon. Even giving her this room was a carefully chosen process. She can look over the rest of the kingdom from here. Just over the mountains lie her homeland, held by the upstart Miller. All that stands between her at what is rightfully hers are those mountains, and he is going to help her scale them.

When he turns his eyes back to her, he clasps his hands together and laughs. "Beautiful, my rose, beautiful." He stands up and walks over to her, watching the dress flow around at her feet as she moves. "Yes, the Dukalis boy is certainly smitten, and for good reason." He grins, taking a hold of her arms gently and moving around her in circles slowly. "After the night, i'm sure he'll be more than smitten though. Love does funny things to a man, but lust makes slaves of them. Jealousy, however, makes animals of them." He reaches out brushes some hair away from her face, looking into her eyes and smiling as he does. "This year in red, next year, Azure blue."

In the commotion, the Magpie pulls a knife off of the table in front of him and hides it in his hand. He raises the other hand for Croft to stop. He looks down at the boy, examining him from head to toe. Malnourished, abused, but strong despite his condition. He is older than most of the rats that the Magpie reconditions, but he could still have a use for him. "Master Croft, it is common courtesy where I come from that when a business deal if concluded that the men involved exchange something as an insurance." He reaches into his coat and produces a bag of silver coins. "200 ducats. Much more than this bag of bones you carry around with you. Go to the slave market and get yourself a real slave. A strong eunuch from the east, or perhaps a beautiful young slave girl from the land of the Sun." He motions his hand down to Collen. "In exchange, give me the boy. I'll take him off your hands. I'll bring him back to Tikkemund where he can have some use in a sugar plantation or in a rice paddy." He looks back down at the boy again, more desperately this time, the fake smile on his face seeming strained.

Charles: I know of a project Lord Miller is working on which is going to act as a Rebellion headquarters. That is where you can find him and all of the allies.

"Good, but we will need to meet soon. We will need to plan what our moves will be. Plus I still need to replace the Kings guard with division sympathetic people." Informed Saxon as he walked over to sit at his desk. "Reguaress, the Division leaders and I will be meeting at a butt a ways from the city. We need to plan our next move, the fact is we need to secure weapon shipments and supplies. Cause we will need to arm ourselves when this war starts and we can cause mayhem in the city while your in the front attacking. If we can get allies in the Kings guard we could take the king off the throne. That is if we replace the old guard.

Clara smiled knowingly at Sveter. Her dreams were soon to come to fruition, and the whole realm would remember her for ages to come.

Serena and Tiana entered the room and stared at the two still entwined in a dance. Their eyes remained stoic and non-judgmental; loyal handmaidens were a rare gift these days. Turning back to Sveter's eyes, her resolve, gently hidden, was plain for him to see. "I'm assuming that our plan still hasn't changed? I'm ready to act my part at the feast."

Shattrath Courtyard, Training Ground

Qaldor stands on a small cliff that looks out over the training ground as the soldiers took away, sparing and dueling for training with a wide variety of weapons from Bows to Warhammers. He addressss the force in front of him.

"Alright men! We must see and together against the oppression of the King! He has recently proclaimed that the Firemen hold the position of the national religion, and whispers that an Inqusition to cleanse Lavell of all "Heretic Religions" will be under way. I have pleadged our Alligence to our Lord Tyrus, and we shall stand beside him in the upcoming war. We are no longer loyalists, we are rebels. We shall fight for our freedom! Our religion! Our Country! For Laesophere!"

The speech causes an uproar in the crowd as applause screams from the training pit. Just then his Marshal Gregory Whilhelf the Bold climbs up almost furious.

"You did what!" He screams, covering Qaldors face in saliva as his face becomes a brilliant shade of scarlet. "You dare defy the orders of the King! Whom has been granted this shithole of a Feif to an insolent Pagan such as yourself! I am a man of the King to my dying days Qaldor and I will not stand to watch a heathen and Rebel such as yourself lay waste to the values of the Good King."

I stand their speechless. My marshal, the man who taught me to wield a blade and helped raise me, a man who I thought was loyal to my command through and through, was now standing in front of me, openly insulting my families holding, and my religion. I was frankly appalled. It was so sudden, and the men below seem to have no idea it's happening. This was all so sudden...

"Marshal where is this coming from! You were always loyal to my dynasty!"

"And your Dynasty was always loyal to the King!" He quickly retorted.

"So is this truly where your loyalties lay? With a man who would see his people burn in the name of a false god!"

"My loyalties lay with my brothers of faith and the man whose family has held this throne. I demand you retract this decision."

"You may demand all you want sir but may I remind you you are NOT the Duke!" By the end I was screaming. Furious that someone who I trusted so much with my life and army would openly defy my very being. He put his hand on his hilt.

"I'm not the Duke today. But I will be tomorrow." He draws his blade and readied himself.

"Sir, stand down! You have no right to defy me you insufferable fucking simpleton!" I was furious. All rational thought was out the window. My hand was now on the hilt of my bastard sword that is strapped to my side.

"I will do no such thing Cur." With that he strikes quickly, and I am barley fast enough to deflect the sudden blow. I redirect his swipe to the wall, and use his momentum to send him forward where I kick in the back of his kneecap. He falls to the ground, but spins around and knocks my legs out from under me. With that he leaps up, and slashes down towards my body. I roll out of the way, but not before the blade slices across my left shoulder blade as I roll. It slices through the thin material and splits the skin like a Knife through Scrib Jelly. I scream in pain as the blade makes its way to the bottom of my arm where he turns it and plunges it in using the momentum of my roll to stop me from dodging. The blade passes through my shoulder and reappears from the other side when I realize I have an opportunity. I lean back, into the blade, and wrap my arms around his legs. When he tries to step back, I pull at his legs, causing him to fall. I quickly draw his knife from his boot scabbard, and stab his shin shattering the bone as he had neglected to put on armor before he confronted me. Good, otherwise I may have died. With that I pull out the blade, and stab it into his side and proceed to stab between his ribs and into his stomlach has be frantically tries to crawl away, losing more and more blood as he attempts to flee. With that he is still. Breathing heavily as I slowly stand, whipping my old soaked hands off on my shirt and lean over him.

"Crescit Sub Pondere Virtus."

I whisper it softly as I draw the knife across his jugular, and push the gurgling mess that was my marshal off of the cliff, and collapse from my wounds. I can hear my chancellor shouting and his words were the last thing I remember before I fall out of consciousness.

"Sir! A searvent heard it all! Someone get a medicus God dammit! Don-"

And the world, was black.

Kingshill

King Elyas

He was looking out his favorite window at the city below him, when a page knocked on the door, "Come on in", He called.
"My King", the page bowed as he addressed King Elyas, "Geoffrey Hyville would like to meet with you as soon as possible".
Elyas pondered that for a while, What does he want to meet with me about?. "Inform him that I will meet him in the Throne room as soon as he is available".
The page bowed and left the room. Elyas then called in a servant, "Send four guards to the throne room", He commanded him. As soon as he was alone, he changed into a simple tunic and purple cloak, and hurried down to the throne room, where he sat on his magnificent golden throne, with elaborate designs, created by the best craftsmen in the Kingdom. He sat there waiting for Geoffrey, with two guards standing on either side of the throne.
