Anyone actually using a tool by a DoS player really needs to think twice. Just because Halcones is your cuddly benefactor for a tool now doesn't mean he will be beneficial forever. This is the guy who got himself DoS over friendship with Frak, who bears DEN no love. This is the guy who helped Frak try to get a friend of theirs (Feuer Ritter) DoS on Frak's behest. This is the guy who tried to foist Frak on LWU for whatever reason.

So your tool may be legal now. Good for you. Now you're gambling your place on NS on the word and beneficence of a DoS player. I'm sure Halcones is perfectly capable of changing the script enough to render it illegal if he so chose. And how many of you would notice in time? If he ever took it into his mind to screw over the users of Predator, anyone who trusted him with their in-game career is subject to severe punishment.

Anyone remember LKE? Remember what happened to them during the last fiasco? Completely and totally unaware of Bob Moran running an illegal script on their behalf. They benefited from that illegal script. And they got a three-month recruitment ban for benefiting from something they knew nothing about. You can claim ignorance of the illegality of a script provided by a DoS player, but that can't be proven by Moderation/Admin and you are always subject to action taken to discourage further collusion with DoS players.

So Halcones isn't Frak. That automatically makes him trustworthy now that he's got nothing to lose himself? If you really want to trust a DoS player with your NS career, I'll pray that none of you ever receive the punishment for profiting from illegal scripts. Because I would not want to trust my future to an entity with no guarantees of security.

What would your perspective on an opt in, economy driven war system be, and do you think it would reduce raiding?

Not in the slightest. Part of the fun of raiding is the thrill you get from doing something others don't approve of. Removing that aspect from the equation ruins the fun for those participating in the raiding. Adding in an opt in war system would be like hosting a prom after party in the school gym where the dancing is supervised and the only drink is sunny d. No one will care and people will just keep doing what they normally do.

We all need to form a coalition to fight for the greater good of nationstates, to invade DEN.

......yeah good luck with that mate. Invading a region with an active founder and a non executive WA delegate should go swimmingly.

We tried that with the blackriders that's how we got DEN. If you take out DEN something else will sadly take its place.

Hay DEN people, YoriZ says you all worked in shifts to suppress thousands of posts. Is that how all you DEN people did it or did you use some kind of post suppression script?

When I get home I can send you code to help make that a little easier to fix. (Unfold all pages, unfold all posts exposing the unsuppress buttons.)

I'm not making an accusation of illegal activities. I was just asking... Because if you did all that manually then I hope DEN has an insurance plan that covers carpel tunnel because that's some seriously intense clicking!

It's illegal to use a script to suppress posts. So it would be manually done. DEN and other Raider groups will avoid doing things illegal according to site rules. Sure, there's a few individuals that might cross the line but the groups as a whole won't.

It's all manual. We are actually in the process of manually suppressing Portugal's RMB.

In that case I almost feel sorry for you. That's quite a bit of work. Very monotonous work.

Quick note for the record:

Just to confirm that yes, the legality of the Predator tool is currently under discussion by the mods and the techies and it is really not looking good. Given that it requires a direct connection and supplies data to a DOS user, I would very strongly urge users to stop using it immediately for their own safety and to contact us with any information. There may be other scripting rules violations in the tool as well- again, trusting the word of a DOS that their script actually is legal is a very bad idea, both from the cybersecurity and "getting in major trouble with moderation" standpoints.

I cannot give any more detailed information about who could end up in trouble, or how harshly they will end up being punished at this stage of the investigation, but again, I very strongly urge players to cease using the tool and to contact us. We would very much rather not see this have to blow up into another LKE/TBR situation, and I would imagine that the currently active gameplay groups would prefer to avoid it as well.

How long until we know if it's safe or unsafe to use Pred?

I am guessing you missed the part in which Reppy says "the legality of the Predator tool is currently under discussion by the mods and the techies and it is really not looking good"? And where she says "I would very strongly urge users to stop using it immediately for their own safety and to contact us with any information."?

That was Reppy's way of saying STOP USING THE FUCKING THING! It requires a direct connection to the computer of a DOS user, and is likely to get you DOS'd for using it.

If you ever choose to put this much passion into defending, you might just be able to get something useful done for once.

Could someone explain just what Predator does? I'm not part of R/D.
If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

In short: Helps time raids

Slightly longer: Provides accurate update times that continually update for both single hits and tags, along with feeding tagging target regions out based on parameters.
