Excellent EWS, at last something constructive.

Why I don't talk about infiltrators and sleepers? A) Not my core profession (longest and only sleeping op = 2 years for Suomi), B) I operate on need to know-basis. Natives don't need to know, C) My Conceptual definition is based to that which is relevant for so called 'tag raiding' in its traditional meaning, D) Unlike many raiders think, I'm not blind to the big picture where different facets of same diamond shine brighter in unison.

Feel free to expand conceptions further. I didn't count actual current DEN Overrun %, just thrown cultivated estimate made on fly, rounded downwards.

Portugal Invaded!

At the March Fifteenth Major Update, Portugal was once again invaded with the last invasion taking place almost two years ago by the United Imperial Armed Forces. With one of the largest update forces fielded during the new era of NationStates, and certainly the largest every put together in under twenty-four hours the twenty endorsement native delegate was displaced by a well placed sleeper operation of over three months. With minimal defender interference the combined forces of the DEN army, The Kingdom of Great Britain Royal Navy, and The Black Hawks came away victorious.

While I wasn't in attendance, I can pretty much say the answer to that would be "no." I've never used Predator, but it would seem that a single hit is best triggered the old fashioned way. I could be wrong, though.

Nope old fashioned triggering. These "one hit wonders" are best done that way. Granted I don't actually have access to Predator so I couldn't use it even if I wanted to.

Adding to what Severisen and Vaculatestar have already said, a good rule-of-thumb is to never rely on technology for major operations.

I'm sorry to hear that Portugal was DEN's next target after Anarchy.

There really should be options to opt out of R/D besides refounding a region or adding a password (neither of which are actually effective long-term solutions since founders often eventually vanish and passwords can be leaked to raiders by infiltrators).

Why are you beating a dead horse? Again...

You know it's not going to change or at least significantly. ROs have been implemented and if you can trust your ROs you're more secure.

Regional officers do nothing to prevent this because raiders have the tools to take over a region before anyone can respond. When we were invaded briefly before DEN, I actually saw the invader come in and I clicked the regional access control (I was still an RO) in hopes of being able to stop it.

By the time the page loaded on my computer they had already became delegate, removed all the regional officers, and had full control.

They literally were able to move in and remove us in the time it took a page to load.

There is not enough time to respond to a raid for regional officers to do anything about it. If anything, the RO functionality is a gift to raiders as you have more people watching the natives and suppressing our posts.

Atlantis Invaded!

At the major update on March 19, 13 soldiers embarked on a mission to strike the heart of the Founderless Regions Alliance. In a period of four seconds, the combined might of DEN and The Black Hawks surged over a massive wave and hit the home of the FRA Arch Chancellor, Atlantis. Hard. The unassuming enemy delegate was toppled into the sea floor with a 626 day delegacy streak destroyed as defenders from TITO, RRA, AWP RDF, and RIASF watched helplessly.

The FRA is a useless defender institution in all but name. Its pledge to work tirelessly in the protection of regions against the "menace of aggression and imperialism" is utter sham and hypocrisy. The majority of its member regions languish in inactivity and stagnation.

To all the naysayers commenting nonsense about how invaderdom will fall: this manually-triggered jump just beat all but the rarest of tool-assisted invasions. Even as this is being written, the democratization of traditional triggering methods continues.
