Canada if Trump wins?

Postby Novorobo » Sat Mar 05, 2016 2:12 pm

http://news.nationalpost.com/news/world ... -is-canada

So basically, searches on how to move to Canada are surging as of Super Tuesday.

The trouble with this option is that if they leave the US, then those left behind are more likely to be either Trump supporters... or people too poor to flee. And I'm not sure Canada is far enough away to flee Trump's effects; if he wrecks the US economy like both the Democratic and Republican establishments are warning, then that's going to mean Americans can no longer afford to buy as many Canadian goods as they used to, which is going to have an impact on our economy too.

Hell, given the guy's foreign policy ideas that fly in the face of what experts have to say on just about any given topic, I'm not sure anywhere is safe from Trump's potential effects on the world.

I'm kind of left wondering if the reverse is feasible; enough Canadians moving to the USA in time to vote for Sanders in the primaries, or if not, to vote for Clinton in the general election.

Trump should be elected. He's what America and democracy needs right now. The moving to Canada thing completely astounds me.

Well, as a Canadian, my stance is the more the merrier. I'm not sure how many Americans would actually leave their country over Trump being elected, but hey, you guys are welcome on this side of the border.

I don't think those people are actually going to move over to Canada (Or at least most of them aren't).Searching something on google != doing that thing.

This assumes that a real astounding number of people will flee to Canada. People say that they'll move to Canada after every election, it's not going to happen at any amount big enough to make a difference.

If he does somehow gets to do what he wants and wrecks the economy, then the whole world would feel it, and sadly Canada's fate isn't quite a worldwide concern. If.

Also, Canadians moving to the United States can't vote. You have to be a citizen.

Let them go - nay - force them to go.

Drop all the muslim migrants and all our liberals in Europe in that country aswell. Prime Minister "Dude Weed Lmao" Trudeau wants to have the entire world stuck in that country anyways.

They're considering it, which means there's always a possibility. Odds are some of them are going to decide in favour of it.

I'm not even going to bother to address the Trump apologists, they've been called out on everything under the sun in plenty of other threads.

Well, he's certainly what the US deserves, Infected Mushroom.

I thought about moving to Canada when Dubya pushed all that Patriot Act BS through, but figured someone had to stay here and be sane. Ironically, within five months of that decision I was found mentally unfit, and downgraded to disabled... Life's full of little fun bits like that. Too crazy for Canada now, not that I'd go anyway. I survived the Shrub, I can't fold for the Trump.

All my friends are moving to Finland, anyway.

Yeah, but how long does it take to earn that citizenship? Would it be in time to vote in the primaries? In the general election?

Getting US citizenship is far easier than getting citizenship in almost any other high income free world democracy but even then it is doubtful anyone could attain it before the general election without a lot of money to buy it with.

On a side note - any Canadian women out there want to get married? You can have my US citizenship and I'll take your Canadian citizenship. Just got to save me from Trump before he sues me for libel because of this post.

I'd consider if Trudeau wasn't a completely incompetent Prime Minister lacking experience, actual policy ideas, and cohesiveness.

In all seriousness, Trump would make a shitty commander in chief, but regardless of who wins, I'm staying in the country I've always called home.
