Congrats Knot Varax Vac
Gladio and 94.

I like you all! DEN has been the most fun region I've participated in...More because of the people rather than the raids/ranks, for me personally. See ya ^~^

I didn't even realize Vac was in DEN, but it seems like a good fit for him. Congratulations to all those promoted!

Congratulations as well to DEN on their 12th anniversary. I was skeptical of the new DEN at first, as I think many people were, but you've all done a great job with rebuilding and making DEN a raider powerhouse again. I'm sure the veterans of DEN's earlier days would be quite proud.

Great job. Congrats on the promoted and the awarded.

If only a certain individual wasn't kept in the GS during the community's darkest hour, or else I would probably still be there.
I suppose raiding talent still trumps being part of the downfall of The Black Riders.

I heard a rumor that you guys (the DEN) were going to invade TRR (The rejected realms) some time soon. Is that true?

There are a substantial number of people in DEN who participate in a running joke where whenever someone telegrams us asking where our next operation is taking place we respond by telling them that we are going to raid TRR. I once convinced some guy that the Vice Delegate of TRR was our point. XD That was the best.

Records are Made to be Broken
March 4 | Minor Update

Image

A long time ago, in a land far away, there was a world, like no other. In every direction the eye could see, sprawled nation after nation, grouped in mass gatherings, mutual alliances, and quiet animosity. These little groups later became knows as regions. At first, life was good, but boring. Trade, Murder, Politics, nothing interesting ever happened to change this. But one day, a group of unique and like-minded individuals made history, by orchestrating the world first invasion, taking over a region, and burning it out completely. Soon, it was popular like never before. Young nations worshiped these forefathers of modern day raiding, for curing them of their boredom. However, spite began to arise in the young world. Old, and mean nations, who used to believe themselves god, suddenly found themselves useless, not wanted any more. And so, they set out to stop the fun, pretending that they were motivated by morals alone. And such was the beginning of Defenders.

The time went by, raiders grew strong, defenders, apart for some truly dedicated souls, grew into a joke, but for a long time, one of the raiders shone above all else, for he had made history time and time again. However, old generations go, new generations rise, and records... records are made to be broken.

-- Sergeant Chingis

During the minor update on March 4, Sergeant Chingis led six other soldiers on a blistering run through NationStates.
The destruction wrought by the group in one update was unprecedented.
The elite team racked up a total of 112 raided regions, shattering the old all-time record of 83 under one trigger.

To quote another raider who did not participate in this run: "skooooooooooooooool suuuuuuuuuuuucks!" Why do I have a class every time we do something awesome?! Good show Ching, good, good show.

The reason my response was not quoted here is likely the same reason that the picture was changed from the original version posted to our forums. Tis a shame: this thread could have been made about 20% cooler.

I kinda wanted to post the usual "^-^", so formally, that's what I posted <_<

But also, I want to write something "in-spa-ray-show-nil" for once, so I guess I will.

A very important thing to note, is all the fear that's been spreading about new updates, and changes in the system that have threatened to greatly affect raiding. I too, was very scared that the new issues update was going to severely decrease the update time frames. However, behind every nation in NS, every raider, every native (kinda eww) and every defender (ewww), there is a person sitting behind the computer screen, and like all people, we adapt

Updates get ridiculously short?
[5/03/2016 6:11:42 a.m.] Sentinel Optik: CHINGIS YOU ARE A GLORIOUS BASTARD
[5/03/2016 6:11:44 a.m.] Cora: lol
[5/03/2016 6:11:52 a.m.] Derps: This is pretty ludicrous
[5/03/2016 6:11:53 a.m.] Chingis Vasentius: cheeky 28h inb4 feeder

We'll just hit targets faster.

No longer given 2hours to beat old records?
[5/03/2016 6:52:35 a.m.] Chingis Vasentius: EIGHTY FOUR
[5/03/2016 6:52:41 a.m.] Chingis Vasentius: (party)
[5/03/2016 6:52:45 a.m.] Chingis Vasentius: 52nd min of minor

We'll just take less time.

Not enough raiders for a big update?
[5/03/2016 7:17:44 a.m.] Sentinel Optik: o/ o/ oo//o/o//o/
[5/03/2016 7:17:46 a.m.] Cora: o7
[5/03/2016 7:17:50 a.m.] Michael Smalley: 0/
[5/03/2016 7:17:58 a.m.] Green: o7 o/ o7
[5/03/2016 7:18:02 a.m.] Sentinel Optik: o/ o/o/

We'll just salute like 3 raiders instead of one. :P

PS: Well that's the "inspirational" bit up. A huuuge thanks to everyone who raided on the update, you guys are absolutely amazing, I couldn't move my mouse fast enough to keep up with your switching.

That triggering performance was such, that it's god Raideron damn undisputed who is The Best. - Cora

Tactics Formally: Partly Unsystematic 1 team-1-trigger-1 convo-3 subteams-3 points rope: (t1 (1 t/s) + 2 p/s in rope) + t2 (2 p/s in rope) + t3 (2 p/s in rope)) in rope, later abolishing one subteam for 2p rope.

130 hits/update by single team of minimum 7 raiders in 3p-rope is possible.

It was qualitative quantum leap in The Art of triggering, Ching. But far from perfect.

On The Concept of 'Tagfields Overrun'

This concept describes a certain, easy way to measure relative level of overall raider updater efficiency in The NationStates. It is rough estimate of total percentage of raided regions that fly raider banner - including occupations - (i.e. "active tags") out of a total number of all unlocked regions with an executive delegate access or shortly 'X-criteria raidables'. This criteria includes all open regions regardless of their population size, an amount of WA-endorsements to regional delegates, are their founders 'alive' or not, what are their particular in-game agendas or an approach to the NS-Multiverse. Also all GCRs are thus X-criteria raidables by their natural game mechanical functionality in this conceptualization.

The Formula to count current Tagfields Overrun %:

[total number of active tags] / [total number of X-criteria targets (including total number of active tags)] x 100% = Tagfields Overrun %

Why this concept is then good way to measure overall raider updater efficiency?

There have been lately about 2600-2800 X-raidables in Nationstates out of a total amount of regions around 19000, meaning that most of regions are opt-outed from R/D gameplay. Minority of regions are actually in the sphere of Gameplay. X-raidables are the R/D sandbox, and the topic of this treatise. Organised and co-ordinated raider updater teams use that playing ground as their daily object of interest, while conducting/practicing their gameplay hobby/profession. 'Tag' is normal standard protocol, and immediate short term goal for them in their normal raiding routines (essentially a method of aggressive advertising), in circumstances where no more strategically or operatively important goals exist, or updaters' intimate involvement to them isn't especially required (for launching piler occupations, and making counter-defender occupation reinforcements as examples). Now, what happens when raider updaters' daily duties get systematical, prolonged longer term nature? Situation inwhich number of individual active tags begin accumulate faster then they get detagged (by natives or defenders) and/or cease to exist?

In certain absolute sizes of active tagfields, active defender counter-measures diminish to the near inexistence (by demoralization by the task's magnitude, lack of purpose, or for... what ever), while relative Tagfields Overrun % continue rise faster and faster because active raider corps learn act more efficiently as teams with improved numbers and tactical configurations on the other hand, but also because many natives finally draw conclusions and opt-out from the gameplay with their regions by themselves reducing absolute size of X-raidable sandbox, on the other. In such kind R/D climate, raiders reach rabidly to the so called 'Tagfields Saturation', a phenomenon-complex that usual indications in-site are: increased amount of illegal spam on raider regions' RMBs, increased amount of personal hate TGs (often illegal by the rules), abnormal activation of World Assembly Condemnation drafts, and undiscussed submissions of resolution proposals (illegal scrap by default), flood of Anti-X or Anti-Y moralistic counter-raider projects and declarations in the gameplay forums, unprofounded claims about "insignificant tag raiding", departure and public complaints of raiders who weren't strong in their faiths to the Cause, abnormal activation of tech threads for desperate requests to change game/prohibit raiding/what ever.. etc. etc. New un-tagged targets are increasingly hard to find.

Near the saturation a raider updater knows it in his/hers bones that everything wasn't done wrong...

One step further and Tagfield Overrun % can become the goal itself for many dedicated raiders...

The DEN's Tagfields Overrun is currently rabidly reaching the point of saturation. DEN's Tagfields absolute size is now roughly 850 and relative Tagfields Overrun nearing 40%.

By the combined hands of the Children of Almighty Raideron! For the love to the Art! Huzzah! o7

- Cora -

Reference: Old TBR 2nd era record of 1150+ active tags and 50-55% Overrun.

(Disclaimer: try write that in Finnish before pointing to my English)

More a measure of tagging rate in comparison to detagging rate and native activity than "relative level of overall raider updater efficiency."

We could start hitting twice as many targets, and if detaggers picked up at the same rate, the numbers wouldn't change. One could boost the rate by creating a bunch of empty target regions that won't have natives clean up. A good chunk of that 850 is going to be dead regions that are unlikely to either be detagged or clean themselves up. You could, perhaps, look at variations in the rate over time, and maybe be a little closer - but if you look at it now and it's 45%, and under TBR it was 55%, that could just mean a larger chunk of the target pool was inactive those months ago then is today.

In addition, the whole process heavily undervalues sleepers and operations in regards to "update efficiency." By setting it basically equal to a single tag among targets, little credit is given to weeks of staging and planning executed by a large, coordinated group of 20+ people. In your metric, the difference between one major occupation going on and four major occupations going on is the same difference as a run hitting or missing three tags.
