Toe girl? And likely not as I assume that most people will be entering the Zone in some expedition starting near Mesquite.

Haha my phone's autocorrect does funny things.
So, you can't have any experience in the zone at all? What about on the edge?
My idea was about playing a survivor stuck in the outer rim.
My character was going to be a orphan who's parent died in the chaos.
She lives in her family house located within the zone. Depending on how much the op would let me get away with. I don't want magic powers or anything. She is just someone who has adapted to the zone, but to explain how a little girl is alive and "well" in the zone.
The house is alive and has been protecting her and so has her teddy bear. ( he's like the junk people)

Not saying that you can't have prior experience within the Zone, but from my understanding it was more of a journey to be undertaken by people coming together for one reason or another to risk life and limb venturing into a place they shouldn't be. Plus, considering that the ultimate goal is towards the epicenter, where all the freaky stuff is, I doubt anyone in their right mind would bring a little child with them to that sort of place. I'll let Grestin pass ultimate judgement.

She could serve as a guide. Since, she be the only one with any real experience with the zone.
But, alright. I got another idea then if that's too much.
So, we're supposed to be a squad of mercenaries?

There's already a character like that already, but, as a Co-OP, I'm expected to keep things on track for the story to move along at a reasonable pace. And not necessarily mercenaries. Some people have military backgrounds but mostly it's people who want to head in for whatever reason, and going as a group is better than going alone. You can have a tough guy or you could have a more absurd reason. All that matters is that you want inside for some reason.

  • Quick - Not your average human intelligence wise but not overly smart
Weaknesses:
  • Depression

  • Bipolar Disorder

Personality: Myeong is an outcast who keeps to himself and doesn't interact with other people much. He has a lot of self hate and views himself of low worth. As such, he's decided to go into the infamous zone to try to make up to his parents as he feels he is and was a burden to them.
Biography: Myeong was born March 4th of 1993 to a family of Korean Americans in Coos Bay, Oregon. His parents were deeply religious and followed old world Korean traditions. At a young age he was drilled into discipline and obedience, a lifestyle not many children could enjoy. When he was very young, he was promised to another traditional family's daughter. As a child, he did not understand what it meant and so it was pushed into the back of his mind. From there, as soon as he was old enough he was put into a private school in the area in order to further his education. Studying soon claimed most of his spare time, as his parents forced him to.

During high school, he finally met the woman he was promised to. Neither wanted the marriage but both had controlling parents and so they accepted it. Myeong began to hang out with her, Kim, and they began to get along quite well. They would study together at a local library and just generally hang out. A favorite past time of Kim's was hiking and their parents were ecstatic to let them spend so much time together and so they allowed it. Quickly they became fast friends and Myeong began to develop feelings for her. Soon his life took a turn for the worst however on one fateful day. Kim went to walk to Myeong's home to study together and ended up in an accident. A car had swerved off the road and slammed into a concrete wall, pinning Kim. She was split in half, the only thing keeping her together was the car. It was clear she would die and as she slowly died of shock and blood loss and yet she continuously whispered the same thing over and over. "Myeong, Myeong. I love you. I love you Myeong." she said that over and over, as her strength slowly ebbed away.

When Myeong heard about it, he was at a loss. He had lost his only friend and the woman he loved - and she had loved him back. That feeling ate at him every single day and his grades began to drop. Soon he went from a kid that never missed a single day of school to missing a day a week. He only graduated and kept his scholarship because of his father's friends and his private school's no failure policy. As soon as he finished school, he was kicked out of his parent's home. All he had to his name was Kim's old hiking pack. Myeong began hiking across the country, working odd jobs here and there in order to continue moving. He stopped moving once the Zone was created - instead staying in a town by the name of Mesquite. Three years later and he quit his job and put on his old hiking pack again - and that is where our story begins.

It is like running after the horizon; the faster you go, the faster it moves away from you. One day, you'll realize that you are standing on it. What you were running after is where you already are and always will be.

Someone just piqued my interest with this. I've got an old character idea thought up for a post-apocalyptic situation that never got the chance to see light, so hoping I can do that here.

I had an idea for a former Army Sergeant who spent time as a tanker and as a wheeled vehicle mechanic instead of the usual frontline infantry.

That's the thing. Everyone always wants to try to be ex-SOF or something that people usually get tired of it after a while.

I think it's mainly because most people don't do it right...

Glad to see not a lot of that in here, though.

Honestly I have an aversion to military characters only because of how many show up for things like this, which is one reason why I tend to go for more unusual characters. I don't mind military characters but variety helps. Your guy drove tanks, and as such I figure he'd not be much use with a gun, but given a vehicle he's your go-to man.

As for the current cast, I know that we have a smuggler, several soldiers, and a suicidal girl.

But he is also helpful, a very helpful person and know when to step back from things.
Biography: Born in Los Angeles, from Korean immigrants, Alexander is not his real name, but his parents changed it to closely resembled American name so as to gave him a sense of new identity as an American, something that both of them wanted to. Alexander spent most of his time near his house and his school, occasionally ventured outside those two places to market and mall, helping her mother who sold vegetables there. His father worked in the factory near Koreatown as a security guard of a factory who mostly hired Korean immigrants. It was at this time, during his spare time that Alexander found a hobby in photography, and took lessons in photography, eventually earned him a place at photography school.

His career went to the spotlight during the 1992 Los Angeles riots, he was still on his 30s when he photographed what happened in Koreatown during the riots and published it as to attracted attentions and aids, through local newspaper as well as online, though with the limited availability of internet at that time, it didn't affect much. It gave him enormous praise from the Koreans in the town, and it inspired him to helped people around the world through photos. He joined Greenpeace and National Geographic, traveling the world and helping the world through his camera.

When he heard that the Zone was happened, he gathered his equipment and tried to went there but was rejected as it is dangerous. Recklessly, he bought a passage entry through a black market to the Zone, with all of his equipment. Now, he's in the Zone, hoping that he gets enough photos and then published it to the world so that they know what happened, and forcing them to give aids.

I always try to expand my range of characters to cover not just military soldiers, but also civilians.

But it is mostly because military soldier is the easiest way to be a character. You have the skill needed for survival, while civilians usually don't have much, unless they are ex-military.

But playing as civilians are more interesting.

Yes! Sure, military characters have all the skills, but it's so much more interesting when people without the fancy skills are thrown into a situation. It becomes less about a soldier doing what he was trained to do and more so about people stuck in a crappy predicament and what they will do to survive it. At the very least I think military characters should be flawed somehow so that we get more of their human-side rather than their soldier-side.

I know one of my favorite characters was a deaf girl in a zombie apocalypse. Sure, I was limited with a lot of what I could do, but it ended up becoming a major thing for that RP. Variety can have positive consequences.

I always try to make my military soldier as more human or has flaws physically that could hampered down the mission. And beside, military teaches it soldiers how to survive from humans, not mutated creatures, so there will be many different on how to fight one and kill one.
