Sterling was actually excited to go to this carnival, though as he saw Minerva ass them and head inside, he began to get worried. That didn't quite seem normal, her apparently being so frantic about something or another. Eh, it was probably nothing too important. Either way, the carnival was here, and it'd been fun every year he'd gone, though this would be his first time without Willow going along his side. Plus the changeling-reminiscent species that had shown up weren't giving him the best of feelings. One of them seemed much too murder happy.

So when Sterling stepped into the carnival after Macy, the buzz of thoughts going on in his head died down for once, as he looked around and noted the complete lack of anyone or any activity. The unicorn started pawing at the ground nervously, while subconsciously using bits of his magic to get all the crumpled up garbage into proper refuse bins. The area he was tiding up was little solace to the pony who realized they were completely and utterly cut off from the normal groups they always had access to. Even those he barely understood that'd been a constant, like those who held the carnival every so often. They were alone in a brave new world, at least alone from anything familiar of comforting.

Even this carnival, normally a silly thing they did every so often to de-stress and such, was abandoned. No one else except whoever kept depositing random people in the lobby would be coming to help them. The pony gulped nervously, unsure of what to do next. It didn't seem appropriate anymore to have fun and celebrate.

Then one of the others ran up to him and asked a group of harried questions, to which he could only frown and shake his head. "I have no idea. Last time there was all manner of people, some real and not. But... I don't know. Maybe whoever made it this time didn't have the power to call upon those who manned it last time, so could only make a facsimile? It seems like we're cut off from whoever patronized these events regularly.... Now I don't know what to do, honestly. Doesn't seem right to party with all that's going on, including this abandoned carnival..." He trailed off, the whole time pawing at the dirt ground, making little furrows with his forehooves.

Maghrl listened to all that was going on, then a thought occurred to him. What if there were others in this world that knew how to manipulate the same Force he did? Maybe this Old Sam would know about any potential force users in this world, or even if they were aware of its existence. If not, it'd be discouraging, but it wasn't like no one here could connect to it right? He'd been able to feel Sam through the force, and despite the lack of actual force power aside from his presence, and the necromancer's use of other sources of power, Maybe he'd heard of something similar to the Force from his world.

So to sate his curiosity he bit his pony to trot forward, partially using suggestion through the force and normal gestures that'd direct a horse. He'd certainly felt his horse through the force, so it did mean creatures here were a part of it. Though it could be none here besides himself, and that Sith back home who'd disappeared when things started to go down, might actually be able to use it.

"Maghrl is curious to things. Not important-priority, but might helper down the line." He prefaced his question, basically saying to answer his question once the more important questions had been dealt with. "Maghrl a disciple-student of Force. Energy field that bind-hold Life together. Not magic, but life energy selfers, you bet. Squib wondering if any others similar here. Who use Force like Old Sam 'n Others use Magicks. Usual involvement meditation, connection of Life Force to self, similar to Druid in study of philosophy. Otherwise focused on bending Force to one's will, though Maghrl would prefer that to not be case." His explanation was piss poor, but it'd have to do for their limited time.

"Oh, Yes yes, General. Maghrl like lead deal-efforts to get tents, supplies, foodies from Dwarfers. Though Maghrl unsure if have money for this place. Might be smartwise to pool group money and designate treasurer, someone good with monies." He said, turning his head towards the leader of their little group, who'd name he had never caught. Though he did catch his rank, so would likely be referring to him by that moniker regardless of any new information.

Bran

"Quiet."

The conscript's remark went unanswered by the eerie silence that the carnival was under. It was kind of obvious that maybe it was abandoned though, considering that they weren't in Bielefeld, where the Chaos forces seemed to have most of their personnel. He walked in behind the others, wondering if Katya seemed intent to follow. He almost wished she did, considering she seemed to be a wholly different person. Bran wasn't an idiot (Well, most of the times anyways)

He wondered, well, more like wanted to know what had happened to the girl while she was away. Had she been brainwashed or something, or was she just gone for so long that she'd picked up a few new mannerisms? Whatever the answer was, it was intriguing as hell, if not a little creepy.

Also in his mind was Amanda.

Had it really been that long since the election? His workshop was used well by the election team as their headquarters, but it still felt as if Bran was entirely disconnected from the whole thing. People who were involved still barely knew who he was, or at the most, somewhat recognized him. He never really got to know Septimus much either, which was something he was looking forward to.

Wait, did Amanda come too?

He stopped and looked around for the woman. A secondary objective of course, was to look for something to do.

Yuna

"I'll go write the note, if you want to check the tree when you're done with the number." Yuna shouted down from her perch atop the little mound, giving her the perfect vantage point to look down onto Aegis' little message. From the air, it would have been unmistakable as being created by someone wanting to attract attention. Of course, unless the howling winds of the night covered it with drifted over snow. It wasn't something Yuna knew about, however, so the concern was lost. The plan was definitely going to work, or at least, it had the most chance of succeeding out of any of their other plans, if their friends were indeed the type of Pony that would be flying around (And that would have all hinged on the Pony at the restaurant telling the truth about the symbol she saw)

As Aegis contemplated freezing in the cold, Yuna bounded back out of the abandoned house a few minutes later, with a hastily written note scrawled in. The handwriting was pretty horrid, but still legible considering the circumstances.

If anyone else from the apartment can find this, probably because of the symbol we made, then we're living in the nearby town.

- Yuna and Aegis

Despite her thinking the note was enough to get the point across, she still held the writing utensil in her hands, rushing over to Aegis with the finished product.

"Is this enough?" She asked, her voice soft under the wind, still whipping the cold air around them.

Drova

For someone of his stature, Old Sam certainly didn't seem all too evil, as Drova once entertained the idea. An old Necromancer following a spritely group of adventurers wasn't the start to a tale that would have a happy ending, or at least Drova thought. Gallimaufry was becoming more and more of a surprise every minute, but it was a liberating experience, the trip was. Drova may not have held a very high rank in the party of residents, being nothing more than a squire to Romulus (And whoever else had orders to be followed) left him with a sense of satisfaction. No longer did he worry about leading, when following was much easier.

"No . . ." He huffed to himself, keeping up the brisk pace of the group, as they made for the Dwarven colony he was hearing the conversation about. "I can't think about it like that." Drova's head shook in denial. Being a follower wasn't easy, but it did give him a unique perspective on leading.

Was it something he should take notes on, or simply observe, and absorb as much as he could. His position as a follower would give him a view of Romulus, as the leader. Knowing what it was like to follow orders would hopefully mean that giving orders came more naturally.

Carnival!
Rmwtyliin felt nervous; the Carnival had looked and sounded rather different last year.  Minerva's cheerful attitude reassured her, however - as did the lack of snow.  Her first wish was for dry socks.

I wish I could hear what she said earlier. Perhaps it was just a greeting, but Mihnrvah often understands how things are here, I think.   What she really wanted was an explanation; if repeating Minerva's words wasn't a possibility, perhaps she would merely hear a generic 'docked for the season, rides won't work; it amounted to the same thing, really.

A few words in, the Fvaarniimarn remembered to wish for understanding of English, which came in handy with Macy's query.  Pausing the explanation, she replied, "I think whoever runs this would expect payment, Macy, but maybe you should ask Minerva?"  She didn't expect that most would begrudge a child, if that was what the seven-year-old was, a stuffed toy. Of course, Macy might not have heard, as she did rush off to question Sterling.

Remembering the previous Carnival's stomping beasts, the teenager didn't set Duncan down, instead slipping him into a pocket and wishing for him to be able to breathe comfortably, see clearly, and enjoy himself.

A moment and a thought later, Rmwtyliin's feet left the ground, and she eagerly started modifying her appearance.  Taller, adult, prettier - wait.  Might these indicate that I am not comfortable with myself?  Were only Kale nearby - or perhaps if the place had been busier - Rmwtyliin would have gone for it, yet Adri and Crysal were dangerous - violent - (if Crysal had happened to turn around, she would have promptly realized that she'd found one more person to scare!  Rmwtyliin had taken some time to get her horrified expression under control) - and maybe-just-maybe a little too alien.  As was Macy by virtue of being a very-human-seeming robot; besides, Rmwtyliin didn't know most of the group well.

I don't want to show weakness.  Drastic changes are alright, but...perhaps follow others' lead.  Minerva changed her clothes -  Rmwtyliin closed her eyes to better picture what she wanted.  Pink embroidery - vivid purple-pink.  Trim...matching my eyes.  Something rather subtle.  Make the embroidery five petaled flowers -  Opening her eyes to get a better look, Rmwtyliin snickered at the results - the modifications had applied themselves not only to the entirety of her current outfit of pajamaesqe purple pants and puffy coat, but also to the sweater the latter concealed, socks, shoes, and blue hair ribbon. Every single seam was piped in said blue; every inch of fabric was embroidered in pink.  The absurdity was heightened by the fact that she was standing on air some inches above the ground. "Look, everyone!  Don't I look silly!"  She'd finish in a bit, but meanwhile why not laugh?  Besides, it was growing on her (although fortunately not in the literal sense.)  "What do you think, Macy?"  She still felt bad about forgetting the robot-girl's name.
Come to the light side.  We have teamwork, waffles, popcorn, grape juice, and way too much ramen.

Unless one is a genealogist, therapist, geneticist, or FBI agent - who is acting within the scope of their job - to claim that anyone is wrong about their own identity is not merely absurd but also extremely rude.

Serendipity

Primordial gave Old Sam another quick smile, he could tell the man was becoming ever so slightly overwhelmed by the number of people asking him question. Primordial sympathized with him and reasoned that his own questions, which would require long conversation and a comparison of notes were not best suited to be asked now. Although he promised himself that he would find a time later to ask Sam those question.

“I have some questions, but I shall save them until we have a moment of peace. It’s good to have you along with us.” The Luxan then turned his horse back towards the direction of the dwarves and began trotting slowly ahead giving the other horses more room to move.

He was feeling curious about the Dwarves but from the way his books and Old Sam had described them he doubted that he would like them or their society. He wouldn’t pass any judgement just yet but his mind was focusing more on how he would make camp than what aspect of the Dwarves he wanted to explore.

Pony Land

Aegis placed the last of the large pieces of wood just as Yuna finished her letter. He was aching all over from both the physical exertion of foreign body parts and the chilling blizzard which seemed almost unnatural to him. So when she showed him the letter he quickly nodded and urged her to place it near the tree.

“Very good. I’m going to go back to the house and lie down for a bit. I need some rest. But come inside when you done. It’s too late for anyone to see the message now.” Aegis said as he trotted towards the house they had broken into.

Insidious

Tired from hallucinatory acid and other private revelries she had been experiencing over the last few days Insidious exited her room and went outside to with a notepad and pencil. She intended to draw and sketch whatever she came across in hopes that some whimsical mimicry might help revive her creativity.

She began by walking the perimeter of the property and checking on the various devil traps which he had placed earlier. She applied quick fixes to those than needed them and replaced any that had been moved or broken. The Luxan was proud of how they been working but decided that perhaps something more defensive would be necessary. The Ogres had been nice enough but perhaps a few hidden stones of Mnar would be useful if anything nasty appeared.

She didn’t ponder the subject long however instead drawing various strange bugs and plants which she came across.

SERENDIPITY

Marcus sucked at being a lizard. Well, alright, technically, a construct. Either way, he sucked at it. No matter how hard he bent his mind towards Old Sam, he could no more hear the hermit's thoughts than he would a ladybug screaming for help inside a teacup. He gave up the effort rather than have anyone mistake his strained expression for a bad bout of constipation. Not that anyone could see anything; the lad had drawn his hood to keep the snow off his head.

He glanced at Opa and saw the mech was doing fine. There wasn't any need to trouble over Amara - running a hand over his chest was all that was necessary for making sure she was in place, even if the lad felt queasy about wearing "Drone skin". Marcus thought about pestering Giovenith, yet Old Sam was magic and probably filled with dragon lore. The godling's attention shouldn't be compromised. Instead, he turned his focus to his fellow squire.

"Eh, Drova, this is about as exciting as watching grass grow," he growled in an undertone that only the Prince's supernatural hearing (and perhaps Old Sam's) would pick up. Marcus dug his heels into the pony's sides and spurred it forward.

Kale entered the park a bit after Remilia, following the stream of people heading to the 'lively' Carnival. Except the liveliness was just a facade, revealed upon entering into its perimeter. Rides stood still, booths left unattended, and nobody besides them for as far as the eyes can see. Kale would shiver from the creepiness of it all, except she was already shivering from the coldness of the outside. She didn't bring any of her winter gear, forgetting and leaving it at home. She figured it was pointless to run back up to get it, as she could just wish for some here. Though looking at the Carnival now, she thought that maybe the magic was gone as well. That fear was put to rest as Remilia used it to make her getup embroidered all over with pink.

Kale giggled a bit at Remilia, amused by her new clothing. she looked a bit like a clown with the poofy embroidery. "You look great!" Kale said, half-serious and half-jokingly. Kale thought in her mind of what she would wish for " A coat and pants, boots and mittens, earmuffs and a hat... all made of faux fur and leather... just like home..." she thought as her wish. In an instant, the plant girl was clad in a new outfit. A tawny colored fur coat covered her torso and brown leather pants covering her bottoms. A pair of black hide boots now protected her feet, and white fur mittens warmed her hands. Gray cougar ear earmuffs and a brown coonskin cap now topped her head.

Kale looked at herself and giggled. It reminded her of home, decking herself in traditional winter gear for the cold snowy season. And all fake hide and fur, just like her own gear. She would never wear the real thing. "How do I look?" Kale said looking to Remilia.

THE WOODS

The tiny fox's ear twitched as the nude Luxan squatted down to examine a green thing still brave enough to poke from under the snow. Of course, this was a Resident, and Residents were alright... they tended to overlook the Building's Animals, although who could overlook a penguin in the middle of a room? The fennec had named this particular Resident "Ripplyskins", and her appearance this morning was possibly indicative of a free breakfast. In fact, Ripplyskin's small purse listed to one side in the snow, the top opened just enough for the fennec to make out the glittering foil edge of a breakfast bar.

The large ear swiveled to match its twin, then both slowly lowered to press against the fox's skull. She crept forward a pace at a time, belly flattened to the white snow under her. Ripplyskins seemed preoccupied with sketching in her book. The fennec scooted to within a few inches of the human's bare backside and then, because fennecs are wont to do strange things, she stretched her neck forward... forward... peep! the cold, rubbery nostrils goosed the Luxan's intergluteal cleft. The fennec didn't wait for the Resident to react; she darted to the side to snatch the breakfast bar from the purse.

Alas, the fennec missed her grab. She tumbled into the snow, then darted under a holly bush.

It was always that quiet, laid-back mood in a dimly lit room that Audette thought about when someone mentioned relaxing environments.

Torii's room was a lot like that at the moment. Torii was sitting at the edge of her bed, cradling her rifle, wiping it down slowly, keeping her baby clean. At the same time, her new bodyguard sat in the corner, in Katya's old chair, a cigarette in her mouth and her AK-74U sitting across her lap, already well-maintained. Torii may not have used her guns much anymore, but Audette sure did, and she always maintained her weapon.

Torii did too, but not as well. Audette wanted to snatch the rifle from the girl and clean out the remaining carbon herself. She'd also like to finish her smoke and listen to the country music that was playing from a radio, and perhaps try and get over her surprise at the fact of a rich Russian girl enjoying American country music. Maybe that pill-popper wasn't so bad after all...

"This is nice.", She spoke with a drawl. Torii nodded. "I guess. I wish my sister was here, though."
"Eh, don't worry 'bout it. I got your back, weirdo.", Audette said. "At least, as long as I got a fat check waiting on me."

Torii was crazy. She was batshit crazy, but Audette knew at least a little about why she was that way. Honestly, she was no better than the girl, with her shitty life full of failure and drinking, and it was their bad pasts and experiences that actually struck a chord in the woman. Yeah, Torii was still just a disturbed girl who's Mom didn't give her enough attention, but she was also someone that Audette could take some interest in. She wasn't going to adopt the girl or anything, but she didn't hate the girl.

And so the woman continued to sit quietly, gun on her lap, and watch over the girl like a sentinel, ready to help in any way that was required of her.
Meanwhile, Torii sat her rifle aside and hugged herself. She had been feeling down and upset ever since her incident with Drovax and then there was Marcus and Gio to think about!

She needed to see them, but what if...what if she messed up again? She remembered a discussion she had with Audette the night before about just thise feelings. "Fuck'em. So you ain't some perfect person, eh? Just shake it off and be yourself, and don't get so riled up, Kiddo.", Audette said. It was good advice. It reminded her of what Miss Swith said those two years ago...

Torii gulped. She had to get out and about again. She needed to.

So she stepped off and went to the door. "Hey, uh, I'm going out. Is that cool?"

Audette nodded, then blew some smoke into the air. "I"ll be waitin' for ya, Kiddo."

Torii cracked the faintest bit of a smile and ducked out. Audette shook her head and rested back into her seat. Seminole Wind was coming on; she loved that song. It reminded her of home.

Ah, hell, it could wait. Weren't there monsters and shit outside? She'd probably ghost Torii, in case some mutant gorillas tried to eat her or something.

.......

In the Lobby, Katya had gone quiet, bottling in her excitement and pacing about. She was perplexed though. Why wasn't Torii getting her texts? Oh...wait...no service...

Katya sighed. Well, she'd missed that part of life, but she'd get over it. Now, she'd just-

Torii peaked at her from around the corner, surprised and quiet. Katya grinned. Well, there was her little sister!

Romulus weighted his choices again regarding Old Sam. Indeed even with the suspicions he still has over him, the General would have to admit that he at least didn't show any signs of actual malice towards them, all things considered. And it seemed pretty clear by now that the old man knew this area quite well, and knew what they were going to be facing. When it came down to it, they were strangers in a strange land, and it'll be foolish to not accept someone who's very knowledgeable to help guide them through this quest, as it was equally foolish to just plainly accept them into the group and expect no possible ill harm afterwards.

And he didn't quite like how other people were already warming up to the necromancer, he could tell that it'll be more difficult now to just tell Old Sam to go away if he were to go that route, as he wouldn't expect everyone to agree with him on that decision that'll likely appear unwarranted to at least a couple of them. Hell, it might be unwarranted even for him. The alternative is a gamble though. He knew too that they should get back to traveling, and couldn't afford to waste anymore time than they already had here. So he breathed in, then in a almost reluctant grunt like sound, sighed.

"Fine, fine. You can accompany us if what you have said is true, but I'll be keeping an eye on you." He extended a finger towards Old Sam. Then turned his head to address Maghrl's proposal. "If you think you can make a good deal while we're there, be my guest. I guess we make a pool of sorts for you to use once we arrive, if anyone is willing to spare theres' for you."

He then addressed everyone else. "Speaking of which, let's all get back to traveling to that colony, shall we?" He pulled on Vroo's reins to turn both of them forwards to Hammerfall, and urged his steed forward. He lagged behind slightly though to be with Old Sam when the rest of the group started to resume traveling.

"Is there anything more about these dwarves that I should know about it? Or anything about Hammersong? And what sort of technology does Hammerfall possess exactly?" He preceded to asked the necromancer curiously when they started to go.

LOBBY

Thriller finally made it to the desk. The fennec emperor grasped onto the table as he stood on his toes. His eyes beamed onto the receptionist with such concentration it almost as if he was looking into his soul, his ears swooped back low before perking back up, occasionally twitching around as to listen to his surrounding. " 'Cuse me. I am just here to fill out a few papers for my cohort. Trying to get both of them for defense, one for agriculture, and..." Thriller froze as he tried to remember. His eyes broke contact with Volker as he tried to think. "Shit, I can't seem to remember even for the life of me." His eyes reconnected one last time. "I think that will be it then."

Psht, that was somewhat rude. Crysal snerked to herself as Minerva passed them. Some what disappointed by the lack of... anything in the carnival, she frowned. No festivities, no sheer hedonism, no reliving her glory days... what she wouldn't give for a reset button to kick it off all over again. Bleh! Back to the situation at hand. Even to her desensitized head, the emptiness of the carnival was still somewhat eerie, and she kept her poleaxe ready... not quite in a combative pose, but ready to strike if anything jumped out at her.

Adri had been to a carnival back in Bielefeld, and as such... recalled her form from the last event, shifting into her two-eyed, adult body, clothes changing to suit her figure. "Well, we could follow what the black and tan is doing. Scavenging for loot and supplies..." She smiled fondly. "Or we could check out some of the tents! I'm not sure if either of you have been in them yet, but they're amazing. They're like virtual reality, but... well, not virtual. It's a little tough to explain."

Crysal abruptly looked at her now not-so-little sister, having missed the rather rapid change in appearance. "That's... interesting." She muttered, before clearing her throat. "I've got no strong opinion either way. What say you, pony?" She asked, looking down at Sterling. Ech, could she ever stop leering?

Katya and Torii jibber-jabbered at each other for a few moments in hushed Russian and hugged. It didn't take much for them to get their feelings out and hug, despite them both having missed each other like crazy (Katya moreso, used to being their to watch over her sister.)

They dipped out, and, some ways behind them, was Audette, ever observant. She noted the arrival of the older sister and kept her distance, rifle still clattering at her side with each step, almost in rythm of the nearly silent rustling of magazines and other equipment on her utility vest.

It was her job to keep an eye out for Torii. Katya was another story, but she'd give the two their privacy.

......

Quick to catch up, and even quicker to catch on to what he said, Katya popped in behind Bran. "Quiet indeed.", She commented. Her gaze swept around the carnival. "And no cocaine. Funny story, back home I had this one girlfriend who...well, nevermind. Anyways, let's make some noise, yes?"

Torii was quiet for the most part, and still a little troubled looking, though that was nornal for her. She was a bit nervous to see Bran, too.

"Hey.", She waved. "Un, it's been a while, hasn't it, Mr. Nikanor?"

Damnit. She called him Mr. Nikanor again. She still had that habit.

.....

Audette eyed the place. Torii had mentioned crazy carnivals where dreams literally came true. It reminded her of an old Star Trek episode. Was this place it, though? Looked more like a Goosebumps episode waiting to happen, or a good American-style sex spot.

Too bad she had nothing to imagine.

Carnival!
Rmwtyliin said the first thing which came to mind upon seeing Kale's outfit. "Warm!" As she turned the pants into a skirt, and shorts, and back upon concluding that they really had been rather practical, she added, "They look cozy, Kale. It's super nice that we can wish to be warm." The pants' embroidery changed to leaves, spring green; the sweater's fabric turned the same color; the jacket morphed into something resembling of all things a fanny pack; the more awkwardly placed piping vanished.

Something rather mischievous occurred to her.  "I wonder if we can change each other's stuff?"  (Her brother Emm would have already found himself in a hilarious new outfit if he had been here and that had worked.)

And of course changing the obvious difference, if only temporarily, occurred to her as well. Granted, here anyone could do anything on a whim, but outside, Kale would still have an uncanny amount of power. A thought in theory could - didn't Kale protect us with her powers last year? And it's...part of who she is. I thought I'd accepted that. Besides - there are many others who can do such things.

If I accidentally did something to her, I wish it undone.

A few subtle details changed, then, as Rmwtyliin took a deep breath - little things, boosting confidence.  Hair suddenly was smooth and shining, fabric was unrumpled. All in all, the princess appeared polished - if eclectic. Another subtle detail might have changed back, had it changed in the first place; the younger girl had inadvertently imagined - and wished to see - something along the lines of "Beware Strict Adult" and multiple cartoonishly done rodents embroidered/dyed on the back of Kale's coat. (A prank she had thought would be hilarious, until she concluded that for said strict adult not to realize the text was present she would have to add the embellishments while the item was in use - and besides it could potentially embarrass her family and people in front of foreigners. Of course, if Kale did give permission and it was doable, it would (re)appear rather promptly.)

"If you feel like something else..." Rmwtyliin glanced at the tents, then turned, expression determined, and glared at the nearest. "I suggest we think of something other than our pasts. If we try the tents. Maybe - maybe - I know! We could start playing something out and have it brought to life - Maybe it could create something totally uncharted, but safe - or we could explore the ocean - I'd love to hear any ideas you have if you're interested." And I hope you don't think less of me, even if some are silly and childish. Even if I am, sometimes - And scared, although she didn't like to admit that.

SERENDIPITY

The party moved on, and Old Sam took the opportunity to share a bit about the unique colony ahead of them. He left off information regarding their technology, hinting that seeing is believing, and instead embarked on a long and dry history filled with begats and therefores that might have amused only the scholars in the group. Marcus tuned it out and turned his his guitar for solace. The stars were already twinkling on the horizon by time they crested a gentle hill that would lead them down into the snowy valley. The last rays of day glistened beyond the trees, though they were quickly waning.

Hammerfall seemed out of place in the rustic setting. Marcus expected wooden structures and cook-fire smoke. What he got was steam rising beyond concrete walls. The fortifications obscured the lower portions of clean, art deco towers and roof lines, as well as the citizens within. He blinked as a small dirigible airship rose from the far side of the city; Strong lines tethered an ornate hull to its underbelly. The boy would not have been shocked if Jorgen Rodgers, a piston-and-gears cyborg Resident, came rolling out the gate to greet them.

Old Sam's whiskers twitched in bemusement as he lead the party into the valley and past neat pastures bedded down for the winter. Industrial sounds greeted their ears as they drew closer: the shrill whistle as some vast engine released its charge, vibrant clags and clacks as a group of blackened miners filed past them to disappear behind the walls, laughter rising on the breeze only to be drowned out by shouts from a caravan unloading goods. The smells of cooking suppers caused the lad's stomach to rumble, but his nose tingled from the scent of moist earth mingling with some sort of metal. Marcus identified it moments later as a stout guard clad in a ceremonial copper breastplate stopped them at the gate.

The druid was known to Hammerfall, and his explanation of travelers from the Burrows seemed legitimate enough to grant them entry, but Old Sam went the extra mile by requesting a brief meeting with the Master of Keys. This dwarf was every bit as squat and muscular as the guard, and he said little as the druid explained their purpose. Considering the nature of their business, the Master of Keys wasted little time in setting things into motion.

There is little else to tell beyond this point. What should have been a lazy introduction turned into a blurred flurry of activity as the dwarves put aside their mundane day to accommodate these distinguished travelers. The dwarves might have thought them typical Gate Jumpers on a quest to pull everyone's legs had the druid not been in their midst. As he was, they were taken seriously.

Old Sam wasted little time. No sooner than they alighted from their ponies, and part of the group was off again. They were lead to the Halls of Hammersong, where the colony's chieftain awaited them. Other Residents inquired about supplies and were given directions to the markets (with a caveat that they hurry, for businesses would close soon). It was only after the dust settled that Marcus and Drova found themselves in charge of all the ponies and Vroo, which meant removing tack and entrusting them to the innkeeper before both squires were shown the ground-floor quarters hastily set aside for the group. The majority of the supplies remained in safekeeping in the stables, but Marcus' back ached by time they'd dragged all the personal gear in.

Opa, it should be noted, was too big to fit in anywhere. Old Sam felt it best to leave him behind, and the dwarves felt it best to not have him damaging their cobblestone streets. The mech found itself regulated to the stables with the ponies, with promises from Marcus that he'd return to check on him and assist with recharging him. It was all the innkeeper could do to keep neighborhood children out from underfoot; they regulated themselves to pressing their round faces against the stable's window glass in order to get a good look at the "modern clockwork machine".

HALLS OF HAMMERSONG
Rodigan Hammersong the Younger normally spent his evenings with his feet up. The dwarf was a firm believer in leading by example, and frequented both mine and market in his endeavor to keep the colony running smoothly. his hands reflected that lifetime of hard work. The cracks and callouses on his fingertips caught strands of wavy hair as he ran this hand through it, and he fixed shrewd grey eyes upon the Minister.

"And they're going to slay Varg. Again." It was a statement directed at the Minister, not a question.

"Ayup," the fat fellow rolled on the balls of his feet and humored Rodigan with a rare smile.

"And they want supplies and advice?"

"Ayup."

The chieftain sighed and pressed his palm heels against his eyes. "Fine. Whatever. Give them whatever shit they need, within reason, and send them on their way."

The fat minister frowned. "And what of the advice? They're in the entry hall now."

Oh, well, great. So much for a yard and some uninterrupted music. Rodigan rose from his worn out chair. "Bring them into the dining hall. And bring drinks. I'll tolerate missing Fenyal's lovely voice, but I won't suffer an evening without my ale."

Old Sam and the Residents found themselves shortly after in a cozy hall. Copper lights filled the space with welcoming light that painted the beige walls and hanging tapestries in a wholesome glow, and illuminated a long table set with fruit and tankards filled with frothy goodness. The low table accommodated dwarves readily enough, but the taller Residents would find that they had to stick their legs straight out under the table, or else sit with knees jutting close to the table's edge.

Rodigan entered moments after they did. He waved towards the table and chairs, then took a seat himself. "Well met, good Neighbors of North Warnborough. I am Rodigan Hammersong the Younger, Chieftain of the Hammerfall Colony."

He turned humorless eyes to the druid. "I'm a busy dwarf, Old Sam. Pry from me what you will, but let's get on with it."

THE MARKET
Copper was the colony's primary industry, and the market reflected that. Kettles, pots, and pans were equally at home amid jewelry, armor, and buttons. All sat behind the clean glass display windows in shops lining the wide-laned district. There were grocers as well, although they had very little in offerings so late in the day, and a fish monger was still open for business. A tavern's welcome light radiated from its front window, and the sign near the door stated that it accommodated all species.

THE ROOMS
"Aw fuck," Marcus rolled his eyes for Drova's benefit, then gestured towards a squat cast iron stove. Coal. He had worked with it before, but the last thing he wanted to do after hauling all that shit was squat down and get the thing fired up. It was, however, the only heat source for the large room. His eyes roamed the beds lining the walls -- one for each Resident with a few extra mattresses to spare -- and it was only his dedication to his duty that kept him from falling into one for a nap.

"C'mon, Drova," he called to the prince, "The sooner we get this thing roaring, the sooner we can relax. And maybe find a pub."

Thus the Pyersai learned a new skill -- lighting hard coal from scratch -- something that might come in handy later down the line. Once he was sure the coal would stay lit, Marcus scrawled a note to the General to explain that he and Drova had gone out to scout the town. This was, of course, priest-talk for "fuck this shit, I'm having a beer."

The pair stepped into the street just as night fell, and they stood blinking as the gaslights dotting the avenue winked on one-by-one.

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man’s fears, and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.

Yuna

She'd join Aegis in a moment, as he retreated to the abandoned little farmhouse, the only nearby respite from the bitter cold weather. The snow was starting to become blinding to Yuna, and she figured she'd get lost if she tried to make her way back to the town now. The only place to stay warm was the cottage, and Yuna couldn't wait to finish securing the note to join in the warmth. "N-not a good environment for me, I do not like this at all." She chattered, her teeth rattling together as she placed the note in the folds of the tree. Anyone with half a brain would have been able to notice the little parchment, yet it was still secure enough to keep the wind from displacing it. Combined with the huge symbol of wood, and the arrow, finding the note was almost assured. But who would find it, and when, was still in question.

With the mission accomplished for the most part, Yuna turned around, and trotted back through the snowbanks, following in Aegis' hoofprints. "Can we get a fire going?!" She called out, as she neared the door to the house.

Bran

Naturally of course, Bran couldn't really ever enjoy some free time without being met by the Dimitrov sisters. Katya and Torii had followed along to the carnival. Well, it wasn't really all too bad of course. Bran's history with the two sisters was quite varied, yet he still held the idea that they were friends close. He'd had many a rough encounter with Torii, and Katya was always a grab-bag of personalities that hovered somewhere between aloof and arrogant, yet never seemed to cross a line to either extreme. Now of course, she seemed a bit more . . . Amplified.

Bran turned his head, and looked back at the two, nodding happily. "Pleasure to see you two here. It's been a good while since we've seen the other." He greeted the two, choosing to ignore the comment about Katya's alleged drug-use. It was of no interest to him.

"You two want to do anything?"

His clothes instantly shifted to his liking, a slim tuxedo. It was wholly un-proletarian, something Bran would have looked down upon if he really cared to, but he hadn't felt as fancy in years.

--

Drova

"Strange. Coal is used to power our electricity, but I've never actually seen how to get it lit." The Prince murmured, as Marcus joined him through the doorway, the two stepping out into the street. Getting into the city had been much easier than Drova initially thought it was going to be, and he was ever-so grateful for the speedy entry, considering his feet felt as if they were going to start alight, just as the coal had earlier. He still had yet to dig into any of the snacks he brought, and the chocolate, he assumed, was probably melted all sticky-like in their wrappers.

"Chocolate?" He offered, pulling one of the mushy parcels from his pocket. There wasn't a single leak to be seen, but it was quite obviously all melted. "I don't have any money, at least I don't think I do." He shrugged, hoping his friend's generosity might be able to provide at least a small meal from a restaurant, or some refreshment at a pub.

"A while, indeed!"

Katya chuckled silently and stepped ahead. "Ah, I see you fancy formal attire for tonight? I can't say it's a bad choice, Darling. I'm always dressed for success, myself! Oh, but this is a carnival, right? Time for a little costumed shenanigans? I'd find the idea wonderful. Oh, let's see..."

Katya was all about looking flashy. For once, she could literally be flashy; she swung her left hand up suddenly, and, as if by magic (or rather, by magic entirely), the sleeve of her iconic blue coat flared up in a magnificent flash of fire, dissipating and revealing the change which had undergone just before the elbow of her girl. Her sleeve was now a brilliant onyx color, which was shiny, yet dull at the same time. The edges of the sleeve still glowed, however, with the light of a dim fire, as a thin, orange aura slipped from the edge of the sleeve up in a gradient.

Katya smirked. "Lovely! Absolutely lovely! I dabbled with fashion a bit at home, and I do have to say, this is my best idea! So powerful and eye-catching, no?"

She laughed, now out loud. "I think I'll give my entire outfit this asthetic. What do you think, Bran? Is it not simply divine?"

While Katya was caught up with her passion for fashion, Torii was also mulling over what she wanted to do to change herself up for the night. She was just nervous about it. Would it be a good idea, and would it go well, or bad? She looked nervous alright, thinking about it.

"So, what does my sister have in mind?", Katya asked. Torii looked towards the two older members of their trio, and shrugged. "Uh, I mean, it's sudden, but something I kind of wanted to try for a while."

Katya sighed again. Then, with a brilliant spin, let her entire outfit flare out into a colorful display of orange and white flames, giving it all the flaming onyx aesthetic of her elbow. "This reminds me of costume balls. Wonderful events, really."

To Hammerfall

Sandy listened to Old Sam’s dull recitation of Hammerfall’s history with as much attention as his tired mind could manage. The present made sense only in light of the past, and Sandy really wondered about Galli’s past: just how long had it been Demens’ playground? Did the question even make sense when discussing gods and things greater than gods?

The town’s appearance caught Sandy off guard: concrete and airships seemed pedestrian in the light of the superabundance of magic in the Garden of Shadows. Something seemed odd about that, but Sandy couldn’t place it. Maybe in the morning it would make sense.

Hammerfall

As the group split up to go different ways after arriving in Hammerfall, Sandy caught Romulus’ eye, and asked him for a moment. He waited to speak until Old Sam was out of sight and hopefully out of earshot, watching the old man depart before speaking softly. “General, I saw you cast wary glances at Sam a couple of times while on the road. He seems to be open enough with us: I can confirm that he does draw on nature’s magic as he says. That leads me to believe his other claims about his skill with magic are honest, or at least not too dishonest.”

The General turned to face the Healer, taking one small glance at where the necromancer had left their sight, before finally shifting his vision towards Sandy. While it was definitely clear now that he had made the right decision in letting Old Sam join them back on the road, especially given his connections to the dwarven colony, there was still an almost aching urge inside him that the old man must still be more than he seemed.

“While I’ll admit now that I may have been a bit too precautious about him back on the road, considering how he now has helped us by granting access to aid from this colony.” He paused then glanced again, then continued in a more quieter voice. “I still think he may be more than he seems. I can agree that he is honest about his skills, but I am still unsure if he’ll eventually use them against us.”

Sandy shrugged in helpless ignorance, turning his palms up as he did so: how could any of them know his intentions? “We’ll have to see. I expect we’ll have ample time to talk to him.” Sandy glanced down at the floor for a moment, thinking, then looked back at Romulus. “The people here seem to know him; perhaps one of them would tell us more. I… doubt they’d be so willing to admit a shady character.”

Romulus nodded. “Maybe. He seems to have a lot of influence here, perhaps too much so.” He paused again to briefly reminisced about a particular campaign. “I had fought in a campaign where the entire populace was suicidally loyal to a single mage, and it was found out that the mage had put a spell on all of them to make them act that way. And though I’m not saying that could be the actual case though, but if the dwarves start showing traits of being mind controlled when asked about him, or react even remotely shady, I suggest we be on the lookout.”

“That’s a lot of magic, General.” Sandy thought it over: as a single spell, that would likely get the caster Raked by the Claws, but done patiently, over time… He continued, evenly, “Old Sam might be that powerful, but influencing the mind is its own speciality, distinct from the arts he claims. It certainly can be done -- I’ve seen similar things done to individuals -- but I’d Hear that sort of power. I can check around if you’d like, but I don’t expect to find anything.” Sandy shook his head: mundanes always seemed to overestimate magic’s capabilities.

Sandy started in on another topic with a surge of vigor. “In any case, there’s more pressing matters to think about. You’re going to go talk to Hammersong soon, yes?”

The General was satisfied somewhat that Sandy was at least going to investigate his suspicions, in fact he appreciated it. He then thought of what the Healer was going to entail with his question about him meeting Hammersong. “Indeed, I am the acting leader of our group, aren’t I? Of course I have to meet him.” He answered the obvious to him.

Sandy nodded, moving on. “Right. We should find out about the road ahead: the terrain we’re passing over, who lives there, and so on. I’m sure this has occurred to you already, it’s just…” He trailed off for a second, then changed track. “You said you’ve commanded armies of billions of men. That’s an incomprehensible number to me: my world’s population is only a few billion. But at that scale, since I imagine your forces are professionals, there’s doubtless reconnaissance units ahead of them, an intelligence-gathering corps, possibly even an entire cartography division. Even the much smaller forces I’m familiar with are organized along similar lines.”

Romulus realized, especially from how Sandy was putting it, that from his perspective of being from a finite planet, that the Wilhelm Imperium must indeed look immeasurably big and too frighteningly vast to easily comprehend. Of course he was right to imagine that his military did indeed have those mentioned resources to even cope with performing its massive daily functions. And that’s not even mentioning all the actual logistics that go into everything else.

“Yes you are right to assume that the Imperium has that capacity. And yes I have been pondering about what’s ahead, I think we should ask Hammersong as much as we can about directions to go, maybe even get his version of the map. And we should consider designating at least two people to be our group’s scouts.” Romulus answered Sandy again.

Sandy brightened immediately as Romulus spoke, his mouth curving into a grin. “Good, good! Last night, I was becoming concerned you were too used to commanding immense armies, with subordinates handling all the support roles. I was up late playing Quartermaster General, and I shanghaied a few people into being Quartermaster Corps to get the group’s supplies organized and loaded. But now I see you’re used to small groups as well.”

“So, yes: we need to know more about what’s ahead. I’m going to take an early night, or I’d accompany you to meet Hammersong. If you don’t mind me asking a favor, please find out what’s in the skies ahead. If it’s not too risky aloft, I can scout as Pegasus, but I’m not looking to end up as a dragon’s lunch.” In fact, Sandy would enjoy nothing more than soaring over the Freywold, but other fliers must do so as well, and some would be hungry.

Sandy looked thoughtful for a few seconds. “Two scouts will do, if we have them: they need to be sneaky and keen-eyed. Somebody with sharp hearing should bring up the rear too, so we don’t have any more surprise guests overtaking us.”

Romulus nodded once more, taking mental notes of what Sandy has said, he’ll make sure he will get to his concerns too, and give him an answer by tomorrow. “You can go to bed if you want to, I think I can handle remembering to ask Hammersong what you told me just fine.” He started to grinned a bit too. He finally noticed just how fatigued Sandy was looking, no doubt last night hadn’t helped him too well, he wished he could have offered to help him. “Please get some rest, Sandy. I’ll make sure everything is sorted before you even get up tomorrow.” He promised, patting him on the shoulder, then gesturing for him to go to the rooms.

Sandy gave him a mock salute with a joking “Aye-aye, sir” before taking a look up towards the rooms. “Let me get my stuff first. No need to have Marcus and Drova do all the work. See you in the morning.”

Sandy fetched his backpack and one of his pony’s saddlebags, and hauled them up to the room, his exhaustion setting in more with each step. He chose a bed in the furthest corner from the door, shoved his luggage under it, and sat down heavily on it.

Dinner was the last thing he needed to do today. Sandy considered his choices: conjure, cook, or buy. At length, he decided the last was the least bad: he’d have to find the tavern, but it might be has last chance for a supper somebody else made for him for a long time. He’d stay just long enough for soup and a sandwich. Oh, and maybe something small and sweet for dessert: he wasn’t likely to get cake in the field. He’d have a little chance while he waited for his dinner to set down some notes, so he grabbed his notepad and pen, cast his usual convenience spells, and set off to locate somebody to tell him where the tavern was.

In deference to Romulus’ request, Sandy Listened for magic as he made his way to dinner, though he’d rather just have been alone with his few thoughts. If Old Sam was both willing and able to enthrall entire villages with magic, they were entirely out of their league in dealing with him.

As Sandy left, Romulus likewise followed where Old Sam had gone off to, along with any other residents that wished to enter the Halls of Hammersong. He managed to catch up to them by the time they entered the copper lit halls, which he actually quite liked the look of. He taken in the rustic-like flare as they were then presented with a more traditional looking dwarven low table. He reluctantly sat on his knees when the others begun to sit down, the General could tell that his knees were going to end up despising him for the rest of the night.

Thankfully Rodigan Hammersong the Younger himself had arrived. Once he had waved and sat down with them, Romulus gladly risen to introduce himself too (more for his knees, if anything).

“Greetings Rodigan Hammersong the Younger, I am General Romulus Aphrodisiac of the Wilhelm Imperium. I am the acting leader of the group of gate-jumpers that have arrived to this colony with Old Sam. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He extended an arm across the table to offer a respectful handshake to the dwarf.

The Building

Amanda watched the other Residents head out to the Carnival. She ran through her to-do list: the other things she must do today could wait until later. She dragged herself to the elevators, punched six, and slumped in a corner of the elevator during the short ride up.

At home, she stayed awake just long enough to set a pair of alarms on her phone, get undressed, and get into bed. Sleep came instantly to her.

Bran

"I'm only really trying it." Bran shrugged. It never really affected his life too much, which led to him not thinking about it all too often, but wearing such an exquisite suit almost felt wrong. Only excessive capitalists wore suits like the one Bran was wearing, which was at least what he'd been taught while growing up. Eh, he could splurge a little. He rarely went to the carnivals anyways. "I don't think I can pull off the look, to be honest." He said, looking down at himself, kicking at the air with a dress-shoe-clad foot.

He then watched Katya's little display, as her outfit transformed, into the sheer blackness of the Onyx that now made up her outfit.

"Nice, I could say." He shrugged, looking now to the younger of the two sisters.

"Torii, certainly you must do something, yeah?" Bran looked at his acquaintance (Still cautious to use "Friend" with Torii).

"Hmmph. Only nice? I thought you'd marvel at me."

Katya waved her hand aside. "Just kidding. You good good as well, Bran."

Torii shrugged. "Uh, well, yeah, I have an idea. I guess I do, anyway. I remember always being fascinated by FUBAR, so...uh..."

Torii held out her arm and looked at it. It was kind of embarrassing, and nerve-wracking. What if this messed with her head? Well, she COULD just imagine it not to...

Torii watched as her skin rippled, turning a pale white that would make a stranger jump in surprise and take her for being in shock. Her eyes flared into a deep, glowing red at the pupils, contrasted against black schlera. These were Torii's synthetic eyes, with which she could see better than any organic lifeform could. Her clothing flared up and took on a style similarto her sisters, all black and ablaze, though Torii, being a fan of Drones, opted for hexagonal holograms over hazy fire.

"Assimilation is almost complete.", She said, monotone. It was more of a joke than anything, though she wondered if she could freak out her friend with it. This was her fantasy of being Drone. It was nowhere near as deadly as the real thing, or so she thought. She had the ability, but not the cold logic and ruthlessness of the real thing.

Bran

"You know what I mean. You look fine, Katya." Bran rolled his eyes, his smile somewhat widening. His attention was turned back to Katya again, causing the man to miss the majority of Torii's transformation. He looked back when she spoke up in the flat monotone that reminded him of one thing only (Besides the little robot voice in his smartphone). He knew there wasn't any way the Drones could hurt them in the carnival, of course, and there likely weren't any Drones around.

But the voice?

"Oh!" Bran exclaimed, eyes widened with confusion as he took in Torii's new appearance. "You went Drone, I see. Are you still in there?" He asked, waving a hand in front of the robotic-girl's synthetic eyes. Had Torii gone too far, and wiped her mind in the process?

Macy

"Maybe so," she stroked Sterling's mane. What are they going to do here? Are they just going to loiter around the place, looking for a tent to play in? Are they going to just take whatever they wanted around here? After all, that redheaded girl seemed to be doing just that.

Before Macy could try to cheer him up, no matter how dismal she looked, she turned and giggled when Rmwtyliin spoke her name. She was amused at her incredibly tacky outfit—the blue, purple and pink kind of meshed wrong, and she looked puffed up by her sweater. In fact she looked like a tall gnome missing her iconic conic hat. What did fascinate her was that Rmw had different clothes on compared to the ones she wore going here. "Where did you get those goofy clothes?" she chortled. "A-and you can fly?"

How did she fly? Was there some kind of magic at work? Or was there some kind of fairy godmother or genie that was hiding behind a tent, sprinkling some kind of invisible magical glitter that made thoughts come true? Did some kind of pixie give her flight abilities, thus allowing Rmwtyliin to fly like that famous fairytale?

Things were perking up already.

Torii stared back at Bran. Even if her little costume was nothing more than a bastardized recreation of the real thing, it put Torii in a mood to play the part of the menacing synthetic killer. Well, if put her in the mood just enough to have a little fun with the voice and movements, that was.

"That's a strange question, Mr. Nikanor.", She replied, closing in on him. For a moment, she continued to keep up the cold tone. She finally cracked a smile again. "Just playing. I'm not that crazy, just wanted to play the part. You know I like this kind of stuff, right?"

Katya seemed a tad nervous. Torii never told her about being into Drones. Didn't she remember getting nearly killed by one? Katya certainly didn't like the monsters; they had killed Dora that first time, and destroyed her old home in the process. Why her little sister would be interested in those aliens, she didn't know.

"Well, it's certainly a unique choice.", She mumbled. Torii shrugged. "I like synthetic stuff. Anyways, do you like it?", She asked. "What about you, Mr. Nikanor?"

Sterling

The pony blinked as the person stroked his mane, wondering why she'd done that without asking if it was okay first. He snorted a bit from instinctual urges, but said nothing about the petting. If she continued he would, as it was a tiny bit humiliating to be petted as if he wasn't an intelligent being. Most others seemed to get that without him asking after all.

"She probably got them because of wishes, I'd say Macy. The carnival makes what you want happen. Like if I wished to become an alicorn-" upon those words a pair of wings appeared on the pony's back, at which point he stretched them out and chuckled, before wishing them away. While being a powerful almost god to his people would be nice, it wasn't something he'd ever really wanted to be. Plus he'd heard Willow talk about the difficulty of washing and preening his wings enough that he was convinced they were more trouble than they were worth.

"Well, like you just saw. Anything you want to happen happens. Want to be another species for the time you're here it works, want to be another sex, that also works. I'm still trying to decide what to do myself.... Don't want to wish a facsimile of Willow here, he'd just be a hollow copy and not my real friend. Could always see what its like to be bipedal or human for the day...."

He huffed, shrugging again at Adri's suggestions and Crysal's question of his opinion. "I'd say in the position we're in now it'd be good to make sure we get as many supplies as we can before the carnival vanishes, though there's no guarantee anything we take out of it would stay past its existence. AT least things we create. The popcorn might exist regardless. How about a little supply gathering then insanity in the tents?"

Kale giggled as Remilia's outfit became more ridiculous with the green sweater (not recognizing the changes the clownish girl had done to her own outfit). The green's clashed with the purple and pink so much, it was impossible not to laugh. All she needed was some white facepaint and a red nose and she would look the part.

Macy's curiosity fascinated her. It seemed the blonde haired girl has never gone to the Carnival before, seeing as she didn't know that anything could be wished for and come true. Sterling explained it well enough to her, but Kale added, "And if you want to fly, just wish for it," after him. With that, Kale herself wished she would sprout wings and fly, the wings matching her outfit of course. Out of her back poked out two furry arms, which expanded and spread out into leathery wings. Bat wings, like ones off a gargoyle statue but real. The girl flapped her wings, lifting off into the air a bit, fluttering in place along with Remilia and Sterling.

The suggestion to scrounge from the Carnival for anything useful before diving into the tents was one she was considering as well. She had a meeting at noon with Amanda and needed to leave in a couple hours to get things ready. Doing something helpful for the Building would be the best use of her time instead of wandering into tents and taking up half the day.

"I can carry some of the stuff back with me when I leave. I have to go in a couple hours for a meeting anyways, so I can carry some of the supplies back with me," she said. "Maybe I can use my magic to help carry some things.... hrmmmm," she thought, still wary of using her magic. She was not the strongest, but she could tough it out.

Bran

Bran didn't really know what, if anything, he could say without sounding rude.

"I have . . . Eh, bad memories of the Drones. I don't think I ever really told you what they did to me, right? That was before you guys ever arrived." He shrugged, remembering being kidnapped by the Drones, a long time ago. They took him up into their ships, messed with his head and body, almost making him a full-drone himself, if not for his original body being nothing but the template.

"I don't want to really talk about it, but if you want to know." He sighed, looking down.

He suddenly realized how Torii might take it. "Don't get me wrong, I don't mind your choice, and it looks pretty sweet. I just don't like the Drones all too much."
