Season 95 Rosters

Postby Ontorisa » Thu Oct 08, 2015 9:53 am

Forwards

SNP - Sniper - An accurate and offensive player who sacrifices team play in order to push for that goal that the team needs. As well, snipers tend to not be very physical (rarely there are exceptions to this).

PLY - Playmaker - Players who typically pass first, and try to set up their teammates for points. Typically these players are able to have great passing vision, and aren't afraid to sacrifice the body to make a play. While they may be a pass-first style of player, they can also put the puck in the net time to time.

PWF - Power Forward - A good mix between a scorer and a hitter. Power Forwards are not afraid to lay out the body but can also put the puck in the back of the net as well. Additionally, power forwards usually aren't afraid to drop the gloves or to play gritty and create space for their teammates.

TWF - Two-Way Forward - Players who are able to contribute both offensively and defensively night in and night out. Typically the more balanced and well-rounded players, usually with no serious stand-outs.

GRD - Grinder - A tough player who plays with an edge. Incredibly fast and can make life hard on defense with an aggressive forecheck.

CHK - Checking Forward - Similar to that of a grinder, a checking forward is a player who skates fast, hits hard, and is incredibly aggressive, but also has some offensive upside. Players who are checking forwards are typically a cross between a grinder and a power forward.

DSF - Defensive Forward - A player who plays better in his own end than in the offensive zone. Typically these players are extremely defensively-minded, and have solid defensive capabilities such as shot blocking, poke checking and face-offs.

ENF - Enforcer - A player who can’t wait to drop the gloves and takes the body any chance he gets. Their job is get in the other team’s face and just be aggressive in general. Usually don't contribute points, but are a great teammate and will stick up for their entire roster.

Defence

OFD - Offensive Defenseman - Tends to be an active element in both the offensive and defensive aspects of hockey, but can be counted on to be out of position due to the love of carrying the puck and being on offence.

PNT - Pointman - Similar to offensive defensmen, pointmen are an offensively-orientated defenseman, but tend to take more shots from the point and aren't that interested in passing. Still somewhat okay in their own end.

PLD - Playmaking Defenseman - A defenseman who is capable of creating plays from the blueline. Unlike an offensive defenseman, a playmaking defenseman usually doesn't have the offensive capabilities of an offensive defenseman, but is better defensively.

TWD - Two-Way Defenseman - Can play both sides of the puck. Much like the two-way forward, the two-way d-man is pretty solid in all categories with no stand outs and not many serious flaws.

SHD - Stay-at-Home Defensemen - A defense-orientated defenseman, stay-at-home defensemen contribute by being usually the first defenseman back and rely more on their stickchecking and positioning than their body checking to shut down plays. Similar to a defensive defenseman.

DFD - Defensive Defenseman - A shut down guy who can lower the boom on players with his size and strength. Very good at shutting down offensively-potent players. Not very good at contributing points.

END - Enforcer Defenceman - Loves to lay the body and make players pay for their decisions. Can count on these guys intimidating the other team but not doing much of anything else.

Goalie

HYB - Hybrid - A mix between the traditional butterfly and stand-up, where the goalie focuses more on athleticism, reaction, save selection and positioning to make saves rather than just using their body. Most common style of hockey goal tending today.

BUT - Butterfly - The style where goalies go down on both pads with their toes pointing outwards and the tops of their pads meeting in the middle, thus closing up the five hole. This results in a "wall" of padding without any holes, lowering the chances of low angle shots getting in. These goalies rely on timing and position.

STU - Stand-Up - The style, goaltenders are to stop the puck from a standing position, not going down. The goalies may bend over to stop the puck with their upper body or may kick the puck. Such saves made by kicking are known as kick saves or skate saves. They may also simply use their stick to stop it, known as a stick save.

Winners & Losers of the 95th OJL Entry Draft
Iris Caderim goes 1st Overall to the Besopravin Commanders as the Guardians toss 204th Overall Pick Yaroslav Duhokazski to the Prisosgrad 32's

Fortinsaburg - The 95th OJL Entry Draft was one to be anticipated for a while. With the departure of Mejer Doristram and Drojas Zierry to the Vermark Hockey League, the OJL Scouts scrambled to pinpoint which prospect would land where on the charts. It was packed tight with talent this year, with around twenty Sunrise Islanders applying for the draft (only seven of them were drafted) not to mention the very first Ukrainian hockey player, Yaroslav Duhokazski, being drafted 204th Overall by the Calvisburg Guardians. Let's take a look at the winners and losers of this draft.

The Winners

  • Besoparvin Commanders: They went first after finishing with the league's worst record of 17-50-15, with an average of 1.92 Goals For Per Game and 3.77 Goals Against Per Game. With the addition of soon-to-be superstar Iris Caderim, there is hope for the struggling Commanders, who finished last year 3rd dead last in the league, and before that 6th last. With additional free agent signings, the Commanders look for a less disappointing season.
  • Tetorosburg Titans: The drafting of the Sunrise Islander, Chris Sunrise, the 18-year old who recorded 22 goals, 36 assists and was a +22 with the USICA's National @ Mardi Marills, the Titans' GM has explained his intentions to bolster the aging prospect pool of the Titans, where the majority of their prospects have either graduated to the team's core or are currently playing with the Titans' LSJL affiliate. Sunrise is expected to be a long-term player for the Titans where they signed him to a 3-year #ECL 875,000 contract yesterday. Big hopes for the Titans as they hope to capture their ninth Imperial Cup? Probably. Don't count on it however.
  • Arugo Olympians: The Olympians have had no physicality in the past season. Drafting the ENHL's biggest hitter, Ermisef Xulos, was a key moment for the Olympians as they hope that he will turn into both an offensive and a physical player for them. As well, during the draft, the Olympians gave up a fourth and a fifth round pick to the Fresait Wildfire in return for 23-year old Likutur Frisgad, a power forward who was drafted 163rd Overall back in 2011 draft. Frisgad, although he was an in-and-out player in the Wildfire's roster, could bring some more physicality to the table. We'll see if the Olympians can play more physically this year, chances are, they will.

The Losers

  • Calvisburg Guardians: The Guardians didn't do too well this year in the draft. First of all, they dealt Yaroslav Duhokazski to the Prisosgrad 32's in return for a seventh round pick for next year. To be fair, Duhokazski was expected to never crack the OJL, destined to be a second liner in the LSJL, but he does possess one characteristic that the Guardians lacked last year and that was a solid mixture between physicality, fighting, scoring and agility. Duhokazski may not have been the pick the Guardians were looking for, but for all we know, he may get better in the future.
  • Austrosburg Griffins: What a waste of a pick. Instead of possibly picking up a sniper, which is what the Griffins desperately need for their first line, the Griffins went for a two-way forward in Kraven Frotiska. Frotiska, who recorded a meagre 15 goals and 21 assists last year, was projected to go in the third or fourth round instead of the fourth. The Griffins' GM argued he saw potential in the 17 year old, but it is clear that something is not right with the front office of the Griffins. Instead of picking up the promising Frédéric Marcheterre or even Vejiga Tirak, it was spent on a two-way forward who struggled with injuries and finding the back of the net.
  • Bevosburg Fanatics: The Fanatics are going to need more than Zemisburg to solve their defensive problems. With Zemisburg expected to be able to easily crack the Fanatics' roster this season, the question is which defenceman do the Fanatics get rid of in order to make way for the 18-year old? The Fanatics' defensive core is just one bad signing after another, with their top two being a 36-year old and a 20-year old sophomore. Whatever the Fanatics' strategy for their defence is, it doesn't look like they'll be able to get out of the basement in the OJL.

"I Want Out" -Itib Ausktra
The 19 year old OJL Sophomore demands to Vikings' management that he wants to be traded.

Emsopstsgrad - Well this is awkward.

2014 1st Round Pick for the Emsopstsgrad Vikings, Itib Ausktra, told Vikings' GM Maiz Kruska that he wants to be traded to another team. Ausktra, who played 56 games for the Vikings and recorded 14 goals and 49 points, was supposed to be the next Vikings superstar, but instead cites that the mood in the locker room is something he despises, his coaches are intolerable and he dislikes the team in general. From this announcement, many teams including the superstar-studded teams like the Kelixsburg Legionnaires, Calvisburg Guardians and Tetorosburg Titans have all expressed interest in taking on Ausktra's contract, which remains a 3-year #ECL 950,00.

"I want out of this place." Ausktra told reporters about his desire to be moved. "I don't like it here, the environment's terrible. The mood's very depressive with a lot of the guys talking about finishing on the bottom of the league again, the coaches are too harsh and snap at anything you do, right or wrong and the overall feeling of the place is just, ugh, terrible."

"We're currently working on moving Ausktra out of here." Vikings GM Maiz Kruska informed sports reporters yesterday. "We don't need that kind of attitude in the locker room, or in the team in general. Our price for him is a 1st Round Pick and a prospect. He has shown good potential, but his attitude is horrible."

Sophomore Hopes for Corispan
The 21 Year Old Heja Corispan looks to match/beat his excellent rookie season's numbers

Recolosburg - Heja Corispan is a phenomenal player, period.

Drafted 24th Overall in the 2012 OJL Entry Draft by the Recolosburg Tridents, Corispan saw two years being groomed for perfection in the minors, first with the SJL's Kea Supreme for his 18th year, and then the LSJL's Recolosburg Jesters for his 19th year after he opted out of participating for his fifth year with the Supreme. Corispan is a magnificent playmaker, who has an amazing set of hand and an incredibly accurate shot. A better part of Corispan is the fact that he was born and raised in Recolosburg, making him the perfect player for the team to become the future face of the franchise. Enough context about the youngster, let's talk stats and his rookie year.

Corispan made his OJL debut with the Recolosburg Tridents in their first game of the season last year against the long time rivals, the Eujon Reds. The Tridents won 4-2, with Corispan recording his very first OJL goal and assist. From there, Corispan only got better. Just in the month of Octobter, Corispan recorded 12 points (5 goals and 7 assists). The youngster, although he was initially playing on the third line, was moved up to the second line to help out with the goal-deprived line. This promotion and the 10 game winning streak the Tridents went on in November, only strengthened Corispan's stats as he recorded an additional 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists) to only turn heads. Heja Corispan, was on fire.

December and January only brought more points for the budding star, as he continued with a fantastic performance. He was leading all rookies in goals. Disaster struck however, as Corispan took a bad and awkward hit from Trailblazers' Zaschis Oskirid that saw Corispan leave the game in incredible pain. The Tridents' rookie prodigy appeared to be all but gone, leaving on February 2nd with a mild concussion. Corispan had 59 points at this time (27 goals and 32 assists). Despite this, Corispan did return in late March to finish the season strong, ending his point count at 80 points, seeing him nominated for the Rachiles Rookie Trophy.

The big question is, after this performance last year, can Corispan do it again?

"Yeah, it was no problem." Corispan joked about his rookie year at the Tridents' training camp. "I would really like to have a repeat of last year, since it was an absolutely amazing feeling. There's no excuses for this year, unless if Frezzy [Frezgar Iligarisk] wants to mess with my routine again."

Corispan's game, as flashy as it is, is quite simple honestly. He has only three tools in his arsenal, but that's all he needs to make a defender look bad. First off, he can just snap the shot in the back of the net from seemingly anywhere. Corispan's shot may not be one of the fastest, but it is an extremely accurate shot, one that even veterans who have been playing in the OJL for 10 years can't obtain. Secondly, Corispan can easily just loop in and out of defenders using his size, speed and hands. It's a key asset of Corispan that some of the rookies do not possess. The ability to dangle and move the puck as quickly as Corispan can is unbelievable. The last way would be Corispan's vision and how he can pass the puck almost anywhere he wants to. Whether if it's a simple pass on the ice or a cross-ice lob, Corispan's ability as a playmaker cannot be overlooked by his shot nor his hands.

"Jitters. That's the only thing I'm feeling for him." Tridents' Head Coach Moriaklis spoke about Corispan. "He's a great guy to watch and a quick learner. You knock him down during a game, he'll adapt so quickly that the next time you try the same thing, he would've already beaten you twice and scored."

Prakos Panjaarvi to the Coyotes
The 21-year old forward is coming off of an 8 point tenure with Team Ontorisa.

Lisadesburg - The Fantastic Finnish-Ontorisan Prakos Panjaarvi is coming back to his motherland. The 21-year old, who was originally supposed to be drafted in the 2012 OJL Entry Draft but went undrafted the entire time, has been playing in the SM-Liiga for the past 3 seasons. Despite being a nobody going into the World Cup of Hockey, Panjaarvi made a name for himself by having one of the best point streaks in the entire tournament.

Due to his free agent status, many teams were quickly trying to jump on the Finn. It appears that the Lisadesburg Coyotes won over the young sniper. When asked about the acquisition, Coyotes GM, Michael Rodriskar, said "Panjaarvi is such a huge addition to our Top 9. From what I saw in the World Cup, he can play anywhere no problem."

"Yeah, it's sort of 4 years overdue." Panjaarvi joked about his new signing. "I'm super excited to play after pre-season. It should be a really good time and I'm hoping that my production from both the Liiga and the World Cup can translate to here."

Panjaarvi, who will be 22 in March, has 31 points with SM-Liiga team Karpat Oulu in 20 games played.

Who to Watch Going into the 96th OJL Entry Draft
From Blaskic Zublovnet to Eskiri Honekisel, these are the players to watch going into the 96th OJL Entry Draft

Written By: Luziak Trysuak, ontorisamajorhockey.ont Hockey Insider

Calvisburg - The 96th OJL Entry Draft will take place in Syamores, Ontorisa at the conclusion of the 95th OJL Season.

As of now, there is no set-in-stone No. 1 pick for the draft. It's been mostly a four-way race between centre Blaskic Zublovnet from the RJJL's Ile-de-Gautier Voltiguers, winger Eskiri Honekisel from the KFAC106's Glesmov Mountaineers, defence man Hammel Drayaurkse from the HZE's Ventasburg Patriots and centre Timur Xyullerk from the ENHL's Raprisker Saints.

With the junior leagues all gearing up for their playoffs, let's take a look at what the Top 4 players have been doing.

Blaskic Zublovnet is your #1 centre of the future. Standing at 6'2", 205 pounds, Zublovnet is excellent in the face-off circle (with a Face-Off Win % of 62.4), Zublovnet also leads the Voltiguers in points with 110 points. What separates him from other centre prospects is Zublovnet's shot. While Zublovnet has shown to lack in the defensive game, his poke check is something to be reckoned with.

Eskiri Honekisel is a deadly sniper that any weak offensive team should strive to draft if they can. With a fantastic and accurate snapshot, Honekisel has probably singlehandedly led the Glesmov Mountaineers to the KFAC106 playoffs, scoring 59 goals this season (and potting 47 assists). As well, Honekisel is a big body checker, not afraid to use his 6'4", 215 pound frame to absolutely demolish anyone who is unfortunate enough to have the puck when he is on the ice. What brings down his ranking is his footwork, as he has shown to be beaten by skating past him.

Hammel Drayaurkse is a dominant two-way defence man. Possessing a great wrist shot, physicality, hands and fast, Drayaurkse is sometimes criminally underrated by scouts at times. He is consistent, and plays a hard 28 minutes each night for his team. Sometimes he may not be creative, but he makes great passes and always has his head on a swivel to stay open for any other plays.

Timur Xyullerk should not be compared as a Blaskic Zublovnet 2.0, as Xyullerk's slap shot is one of the most accurate ones in the ENHL and his defensive awareness is off the charts. Despite having such a good shot, Xyullerk is known more for his defensive plays, able to cut off streaking wingers like nobody's business with his 6'3", 208 pound frame. Xyullerk uses this big body to both help clear out the slot, work in the dirty areas other forwards usually stray from and can be sound when preventing opponents from breaking into his zone.

It Runs in the Blood
Younger Brother of Heja Corispan, Takaar Corispan, is looking to make a name for himself in the OJL

Written By: Vasili Trophiskov

Lopirke - Everyone knows Heja Corispan, recently one of the Recolosburg Trident's most successful prospects. However, Heja's younger brother, Takaar Corispan, is eyeing the opportunity to make a name for himself as well in the OJL.

"From a pretty early age, Heja and I were pretty competitive. You know, he'll do this one thing like a wheelie on his bicycle once and so I would attempt to do a wheelie as well. Obviously I wouldn't do too well with it, so I'd be at it for a good hour or something before I was able to do." Takaar had explained his early competitiveness in an interview with the Lopirke Herald. "So being given the opportunity to play against my big brother in the big leagues is something to completely look forward to."

Drafted at 72nd Overall in the 2015 RJJL Domestic Entry Draft by the Lopirke Vengeance, there weren't too many expectations for Takaar. A few OJL scouts had him pinned going in the 6th or 7th Round in the OJL Draft, but this did not phase the youngster. Throughout the RJJL season, Takaar worked himself up from the Vengeance's 3rd Line, to their #1 Centre position, something Takaar says he learned from his brother.

"When we had played hockey, both pick-up and Midget AAA together, I was always being compared to him. It sucked at times because the coaches would always expect me to be fantastic or something, and I would always not perform up to their expectations, but Heja would always step in for me, give me advice, one-on-one training and everything outside of practice. I guess you could say I looked up to him as a hockey role model."

Coming into the 96th OJL Entry Draft with 81 points in 65 games played, Takaar is projected to go around 26th Overall, a far cry from what he had originally been projected at. Scouts have reported that it's simply Takaar's work ethic, leadership and defensive skills that had landed Takaar to be landed so high up in the draft. Of course, Takaar always says it's because of his brother, so it must run in the blood.

Qajs Storm Sign Highly Touted OUHL Free Agent Kaspar Dalaskoj
The 23-year old offensive power forward will join the Storm's roster immediately.

Kaspar Dalaskoj cuts in on Matarmar University Defender Nikolai Bellatov.

The Dalaskoj sweepstakes are over everyone, and the Qajs Storm have won. The Storm's General Manager Kristein Anzalle announced today that the Qajs Storm have signed 23-year old Kaspar Dalaskoj to a 2-year Entry Level Contract worth an AAV of #ECL 950,000. Dalaskoj had announced at the beginning of this season that he was looking to sign with an OJL Team. With the Qajs Storm out of the playoffs, along with many rebuilding and playoff bubble teams, the interest in signing the Calvisburg-native was sky high.

Dalaskoj recorded 26 goals, 31 assists in 35 games played with the Tetorosburg Central College Gold Shields. He had missed the first 5 games due to a hip flexor injury, but had quickly rebounded since. Dalaskoj had played 3 seasons with Tetorosburg Central College, playing a total of 113 games, potting 67 goals, 94 assists for a total of 161 points. Throughout his time in the OUHL, Dalaskoj had placed his education before his professional hockey career. Now however, is the time for Dalaskoj to show that he's worth the hype.

Before the OUHL, Dalaskoj had played 2 seasons in the Ventas Junior A League with the Braszalla Trojans, playing a total of 117 games, scoring 102 goals, 118 assists for a total of 220 points.

Vikings Trade Horton to the Typhoons
Vikings receive a 2017 3rd Round Pick and 18-year old forward Anyar Tillaka

Caleb Horton's time in Emsopstsgrad is over, and the Vikings receive a much needed relief to their cap situation. The undrafted 34-year old looks to keep his hopes for the Imperial Cup alive while the Typhoons receive some needed forward depth and veteran leadership.

"Obviously I'm slightly disappointed we couldn't bring the cup to Emsopstsgrad," the 34-year old forward said. "and I have nothing but the utmost respect to the fans and the team, but now I guess I have to move on. Hopefully I can bring a cup to Beschov."

Horton is currently on his last year of a 5-year, #ECL 22.5 Million Contract. This past season in 76 games played, Horton had recorded 21 goals, 22 assists and 104 penalty minutes. Despite playing on a relatively weakened Vikings roster, who was consistently plagued by injuries all season long, Horton performed admirably considering his age. He had shown signs of his younger self during this season and of course, his trade value rose despite his hefty cost.

The Saskatchewan-native, Caleb Horton came to the OJL when he was 22-years old following his time in the Swedish SHL, being brought in by the now defunct Eujon Thieves. Horton signed the 5-year 22.5 Million Eckels Contract back in the 2012 off season, where the Vikings had hoped he could put up 60 points consistently. Horton played a total of 307 games with the Vikings, recording 109 goals, 109 assists for a total of 218 points, and 434 penalty minutes. Even though Horton under performed considerably, he is still good for roughly a 50-point producer, which is a welcome sign for the youthful Typhoons, who need a good mix of a depth scorer, fighter and leader.

"Horton brings a certain aspect of intangibles and grit to the Typhoons." Typhoons General Manager Alexei Rujastov said. "As long as he can keep his offensive production up, I see no harm in letting him play in our Middle 6 forward group. He can protect our young talented players while scoring goals and racking up assists. As well, his ability in the penalty kill might be one of the best in all of the OJL."

"I'd just like to thank Horton for his time with the Vikings." Vikings General Manager Maiz Kruska told media. "He's been an inspiring leader, a tough player, a popular guy and a consistent 20-goal scorer. As much as I would like for him to have stuck around, our cap situation had prevented us from doing so. We can only wish him the best of luck with the Typhoons."

The Panjaarvi Effect
The 22-year old OJL rookie is currently lighting up the Coyotes' Playoff Run

Lisadesburg - If you thought Panjaarvi was another run of the mill undrafted sniper who was only good for a few points, you're pretty damn wrong.

The Finnish-Ontorisan is coming off of a fantastic 63 point rookie season with the offensively-loaded Lisadesburg Coyotes, playing on the Coyotes' 2nd Line with noted playmaker Nikolai Syshenskov and offensive forward Rasmus Torriskag. Obviously, Panjaarvi flourished in his role, and found himself slowly moving up from the 3rd Line to the 2nd Line, and making it onto the 1st Line Power-Play Unit at the point. Thanks to his work on his defensive skill in the SM-Liiga, Panjaarvi has proved himself to be better than your run-of-the-mill sniper. He can backcheck, body check, play defence and kill penalties, which he tended to do, a lot of times to be fair.

Now, with his first regular season behind him, Panjaarvi has continued his offensive production in the playoffs. In a tough series against the Saint Devant Marauders, where the Coyotes won the goal fest in Game 7, much of the offensive production from the Coyotes can be attributed to Panjaarvi. In 7 games played, Panjaarvi has recorded 7 goals, 8 assists and has a +12. How's that for a rookie?

Professional Hockey: It Runs in the Blood
The lesser known of the four Corispans, Akkori Corispan, has been drafted 12th Overall in the SHS Entry Draft

Image
Akkori Corispan [Pictured] during his 2nd junior season with the KFAC106's Glesmov Mountaineers. Corispan had amassed 66 points in all of the Mountaineers' 55 games.

Sjoedrhavn - It's a proud moment for the Corispan family.

With the eldest, Heja Corispan, a noted international and upcoming OJL star stealing the headlines, it's no surprise that Heja's success has turned the entire league's attention to his siblings. Heja's younger brother, Takaar Corispan, is ranked 26th Overall coming into the 96th OJL Entry Draft. Takaar is a noted playmaker and has a very well cemented face-off ability. Akkori however, isn't predicted to be as talented as his two older brothers. The third oldest, Akkori was ranked 201st in the 96th OJL Entry Draft. Much like Takaar and Heja, Akkori is a playmaker, albeit not as talented as his brothers. Despite this, Akkori garnered interest in other leagues, particularly the SHS, where players of his calibre in the youthful league were needed.

Many eyes are past Akkori and Takaar after the 96th OJL Entry Draft however, as their youngest brother, Lamorisk Corispan, is expected to be in a completely different league compared to all three of the Corispans. He's many years from entering the OJL however, only just entering his first season of Midget AAA.

"Well, I'm slightly disappointed not having that much interest in my skills." The 18-year old Akkori Corispan said. "I figured that teams would look past the bad season the Mountaineers had in general, that everyone who played on the team were much better than what our record said."

"The problem with Akkori is that he's just not good enough for the OJL." An anonymous scout spoke on Akkori's talent. "Although he has the name, he's mainly a pretender to it, he's not elite talent like Heja or what Takaar is projected to be. Teams can get hundreds of players like his calibre at anytime they wish. He's not a commodity, he's a player any GM can get."

Despite holding true to his OJL dreams, Akkori officially announced today that he will agree pursue an entry contract with the SHS Team, ASK Landsmark, immediately.

Fighting To Play
Meet Sami Toskarhaus, a prospect for the 96th OJL Entry Draft, who has had the hardest road to the draft.
Image
Toskarhaus with the HZE's Fronosdrav Super 21. In 47 games played, Toskarhaus has recorded 59 points, 45 of which have been assists. He was limited to 47 games played due to a fractured finger.

Toskarhaus has had an uneventful path to professional hockey. Back when he had been playing Bantam AAA hockey in the Ventas Province, he had been cut from several different teams, all of them saying he did not possess the Hockey IQ to play defence in Bantam. Despite this, Toskarhaus was pushed to continue his hopes in hockey and eventually settled to play Bantam AA in the neighbouring province of Augusta.

"The beginning, getting into more competitive and tougher hockey, was rough." Toskarhaus said. "My parents were suggesting to me that maybe I wasn't cut out for hockey, but I was pretty stubborn about it and kept looking for opportunities. Bantam AAA in Ontorisa is no joke, it's about as tough to get into as a Major Junior team. So when I couldn't crack AAA, I immediately looked outwards for any AA opportunities for playing time and to improve my skills."

Toskarhaus experienced some of the best hockey of his youth career, and was promptly recruited by the Soskavinis Phantoms Midget AAA Hockey Team once Toskarhaus had finished another season of Bantam AA. While the jump from Bantam to Midget is one thing, the jump from AA to AAA is another story entirely. Yet, despite his struggles initially, Toskarhaus flourished as an offensive defenseman, not afraid to join the rush and contribute on plays. He can make flashy plays, and uses his speed to his advantage to burn past defenders.

Image
Toskarhaus was drafted 86th Overall by the HZE's Poukisa Bloodhounds in the 2015 HZE Entry Draft before being dealt in a 6-player deal to the Fronosdrav Super 21.

Toskarhaus spent two years with the Phantoms before he finally got a call from his agent. He had been drafted in the 2015 Heratoian Zaksuajmer Extraliga Entry Draft by the Poukisa Bloodhounds in the 5th Round and was to report to the team immediately. Overjoyed, Toskarhaus began to pack his bags to Poukisa, Heratoi before he received another call. His rights had been traded to the Fronosdrav Super 21 in a massive, blockbuster 6-player deal that saw 3 established HZE players go to Poukisa in return for a star HZE player, and two prospects. Toskarhaus had been one of said prospects.

This didn't really affect the plans of Toskarhaus, who flew to Ventasburg, Heratoi before taking a bus ride to the coastal city of Fronosdrav to sign his first HZE contract. He was to remain with the team for 3-years and to be paid $50,000 NSD for every year (#37,313 ECL) and to start in the Super 21's Top 6 defence core. By the end of his rookie HZE season, Toskarhaus would be playing 1st Pairing minutes. All aspects of his game improved dramatically. Toskarhaus was invited to Team Ontorisa's Five Countries U18 Hockey Tournament Camp that autumn and played mostly 3rd Pairing and 1st Power Play Unit minutes.

Image
Toskarhaus is projected to go 27th Overall in the 1st Round. Scouting reports reflect favourably on his skating, offensive and two-way ability.

Now, with his second season almost finished after a strong playoff run by the Super 21 that saw them eliminated in the Castalox Trophy Finals, Toskarhaus has turned his attention from Heratoi, southwards to Ontorisa where he will be attending the 96th OJL Entry Draft in Sujosk, Ventas. Multiple teams have been linked to drafting the right handed defenseman, some of whom have been the Saint Devant, Saliasburg and Recolosburg.

Time will only tell where Toskarhaus will end up, but his unique route to Major Junior hockey has been a road of self discovery and the realization of his raw talent.

Doristram with the Alpenton Whitecaps of the NHC

Welcome home Doristram.

Mejer Doristram, 21, of the NHC's Alpenton Whitecaps has signed a 2-year, #950,000 AAV Entry-Level Contract with the Calvisburg Guardians. The contract with include a #69,500 bonus for 35 games played, #55,000 bonus for 25 assists and a #60,000 bonus for 15 goals; all of these being in one season.

Doristram had been initially pinned to go 2nd or 1st Overall in the 95th OJL Entry Draft, but opted to sign with the NHC's Alpenton Whitecaps for more playing time and better development. During his time over in the NHC, Doristram had performed remarkably well, especially for a youth player, earning 1st Unit Powerplay time (5 on 4, 4 on 3 & 5 on 3), 2nd Pair Even Strength time and 2nd Unit Penalty Kill Time (3 & 4 man units). Doristram's career high in points was 47 (10 goals & 37 assists). He shoots right handed.

"I'm really excited to be joining my hometown club." Doristram said during a press conference today. "I think I've grown up to realize that my place is home. It's a competitive and demanding league that I hope to be part of for a long time."
