With the passage of the Embassy Act of 2016, the New Birgland Ministry of Foreign Affairs hereby announces that foreign diplomatic missions may now be opened in New Birgland.
As a pacifist nation, the People's Republic of New Birgland has always considered diplomacy as the first option and war as the last. Therefore, we have established embassies in many nations, but until now, no nations have established embassies in New Birgland. We hope that all nations will take this opportunity to establish diplomatic relations with New Birgland, just as New Birgland has done with other nations.
Embassies can be located in two places: Embassy Tower and Embassy Park.
Embassy Tower is a supertall skyscraper located in the Libertopolis Civic Center in the middle of the city. 100 floors are available for embassies, and the number of floors can be requested in the application. The number of floors per embassy is limited to fifteen.
Embassy Park is an area near the Libertopolis Greenspace, one of the city's largest parks. It is mainly a low-density residential area where many of the rich and powerful live. If you desire a large chancery building or embassy campus, or wish for a aircraft landing area, please request Embassy Park for your embassy's location. All embassies in Embassy Park must have solar panels on the roof of the chancery building or on the embassy campus grounds.
Both embassy locations are served by the capital's extensive mass transit system. Many services, such as restaurants, museums, places of worship, and other government buildings are located near stops on the Libertopolis Metro. Of course, one can also use a private vehicle, if preferred. As most citizens travel via public transit, our surface roads are mostly free of traffic, allowing your diplomats to travel with speed and safety in their own personal vehicles. However, traffic is still a problem in the city center, so we recommend that staff in Embassy Tower use public transit.
Because parking is heavily limited in the city center, embassies located in Embassy Tower cannot have more than two personal ground vehicles (sedans, sports cars, etc.) Embassies in Embassy Park do not have a limit of personal vehicles. There is also a maximum of three aircraft and a maximum of one watercraft for all embassies. All vehicles must meet New Birgland's stringent emissions standards; we recommend that your vehicle be powered by a zero-emissions technology, such as electricity, hydrogen fuel cells, or compressed air. Aircraft will be stored in hangars at the South Shore General Airfield, which is ten minutes by car from Embassy Park and twenty minutes by car from Embassy Tower. Watercraft will be stored at the Johnson Beach Marina, which is twelve minutes by car from Embassy Park and twenty-three minutes by car from Embassy Tower.
An embassy can have a maximum of twenty-five security staff, but there is no limit on other types of staff. There is no limit on the number of weapons; however, heavy weaponry, such as rocket launchers, is not allowed.
The Embassy Act was amended in January 2017 to include a human rights requirement for certain requests. Nations with existing embassies need not update their applications, but all new applicants must follow the new rules.
