LSJ - The Central Defense Initiative is a bastion formed back in 1989 by the Western States and Belfras to establish a mutual defense alliance that would secure the waters of the Central ocean. Soon it expanded with nations such as Arthurista, Belhavia and the United Republic making a joint secured force whose ideals became intertwined with preserving international law framed in the Grand Council. However - PRRB a state-owned Romulan News outlet claims otherwise listing members of the CDI - Belfras as founding member in particular - as high alert threats to world stability.
But according to facts, PRRB seemingly missed, Romula initiated the most unprovoked military interventions in the 21st century and CDI in most cases was the CDI who undermined these breaches of international law. Just recently in central Lusankya the Romulan forces entered sovereign Bogoria, which is an act of aggression and thus perpetually continues its imperialistic agenda. But Bogoria is just one of the many examples the authoritarian regime in Romula overlooked and stamped as an exception.
The real question remains; will Rodarion survive if they turn their backs on CDI nations? The answer is indefinitely no. According to the economists; Despite their significant export figures and consistent annual GDP growth their stocks will plummet, their housing will fail miserably and foreign investment will go down the drain. This is simply because they lack partnership and the global financial instruments lie in the hands of CDI and CDI affiliated states.
South Lake for example, although a market state that is not a member of the Central Defense Initiative, but who definitely has strong ties with each CDI member state, hosts the financial capital of the world, which accounts for the largest stock exchange, prints the second largest reserve currency, house to one of the largest private banking systems in the world and represents one of the largest businesses active even within Romula itself. Turning their back on them and hundreds of thousands of joint ventures will not do any good for Rodarion as a nation and its peoples.
What today voices in Romula continuously strives for - is dumping the Western Dollar, but by doing to that world economy or at least in significant parts of the world will collapse. Destroying a once fiat currency - and now foreign exchange market / gold standard related currency, might even damage the precious metal itself. Global economist state the the faith of gold rests in world stability, hence why its rate is mostly fixed. Romulan economists know this and they cannot inflict global recession.
What can the CDI nations inflict on Romula? They can definitely impose economic sanctions that hit the core of the Romulan economy. Simply said, they would be inflicted severe damage to their banking system joint business projects and infrastructure. This is because the country is still a developing country, due to Western, Arthuristan, and Belhavian investment the Rodarians now have functioning cars and the middle class of the country experiences a growth from being predominantly lower class prior. It is due to these foreign investments and trade cooperation with the CDI that Romula is where it is now. Hypothetically, were the CDI nations prosperous before economic growth in Rodarion? Yes. Are they still going to be prosperous if they impose sanctions on Rodarion? Yes. Rodarion on the other hand without foreign investment will plummet without remorse. Romula should stop insisting hatred between groups, this will only pose damage to its own country, rather it should know its place. The largest economic power is Arthurista and it is a CDI nation.
