Tyran is a Modern-Tech, human-only roleplayer region looking for new players who are interested in joining. We are focused on realistic roleplay and ongoing collaboration among all of Tyran's members in order to create a cohesive world within which to pursue your ambitions.

A few points which we look for in a prospective member:

Realism: An integral part of every nation and roleplay. This subject includes world politics, and how it can affect your nation, as well as those around you. We strive to make our nations in Tyran as realistic as possible, though we still like to have our fun.

Collaboration: Writing in Tyran is an ongoing project, which requires the cooperation of the entire group in order to get the best results, and even more importantly, for everyon to have fun with their writing. We ask that applicants be team players, willing to work together in order to achieve both their and our goals, whether they be diplomatic meetings and international festivals or espionage plots and open warfare.

Roleplay: We are not asking you to be a master wordsmith, or even an experienced NationStates veteran. What we are looking in our writers is drive, an example or two of writing capabilities, and proper English grammar.

Brief Description of Nation (culture, society, politics, ect.): : At its birth the nation was a united, strong, and relatively prosperous Empire, however such glories didn't last long and the Empire parted violently into its various provinces and unions divided by ideologies such as Marxism, Democracy, and Absolute rule. In more modern times however the most prosperous of the different Atmaeras colloquially referred to as The Republic rode the people's desire to see Atmaera whole again. This mindset was shared by a vast majority of citizens due to the fact that warring Atmaeran states brought nothing but calamity to the territory as a whole, the problems started when none could agree on how to do so. Eventually a final war broke out between the two strongest Atmaearan states which were The Republic and its Socialist counterpart. The end result being Atmaera uniting under the Republic banner, and so Atmaera was united once again.
Because of its history of conflict with conflicting ideology, namely Marxism, radically left wing sentiment is looked down upon, inversely more right wing governments are viewed with less suspicion and some even come to respect Fascist governments. Officially The Republic is willing to work with either extremes once those extremes are shown to be prosperous examplars of their ideologies. However it should be noted that gross violations of human rights and living standards are treated are engrained as barbaric in the average Atmaeran mind. Atmaerans generally have a tradition centered mindset with more liberal and secular influences growing day by day. Yhe government is a Centrist one with fluctuating influence between the right and left. Democracy and Freedom are deemed sacred but the Military culture is as strong as ever promoting a State first mindset. ( Sorry if this seems incomplete but I really don't have all the details hammered out just yet)

International Aid

The comittie sat in the darkness of the conference room with the only source of light being a projector which displayed images of the current state of Frulia gathered by established media and independent news sources. With the slides Secretary of State Vincent Harling was carefully elaborating on the current situation in the province and the rest of the country. After clicking through several shots of dilapidated buildings, destitute locals, and Foriegn military personnel he finally rested on the image of a screenshot of Aloysius Forst's handy work. The Projector displayed a rather long and methodically detailed email, which displayed plans for what could be described as a hostile takeover.

"As most of you have probably seen prior to this meeting, this is the email that set off a chain of events that has led up to the present, when this email was first leaked it was first seen on well known international blogs and news sights that specialized in mukraking and the likes. Some of these sights had crashed soon after, some took away the information as if it was never there. However and independent source one who has been following the political situation in countries like Donner land posted it on his website, the site is not well know and is Atmaeran based according to the report I recieved from General Genette here. Thus I hypothesize it escaped the obvious attempts to hide the information. After reviewing all this evidence its clear that a government reformation is in the works. However we don't have enough evidence to confirm that the takeover is a repeat of the terrible events of the late 19th century purges in Donner Land but I believe that is where this situation is heading." Secretary of State Vincent Harling carefully elaborated to the committee

"What are the goals of the foreign powers, I got that Britonia and North Akana are distributing aid but what else do we know about them, do they support the current take over, are they trying to stop it, what's their angle?" Supreme Chancellor Harper asked

"Well sir we know that Omnisol seems ready to support the democratic process... almost feverishly so, its possible that they might take military action if the interm government takes any blatant oppressive action. The Shazbotom Empire is current harboring Aloysius Forst, their likely to use whatever information he provides them to guide their action. My hope is that their interests align with ours and they release incriminating information to the international community provoking a response. As for Britonia and North Akana, they don't seem to be taking any aggressive stances toward the government, but they seem dedicated to providing aid towards the people of Donner Land, If our suspicions are correct about what's really going on in Donner Land we can only hope that they don't enable the coup" Harling expressed

"Well gentleman we've all had time to review this information prior to this meeting any suggestions?" The Chancellor asked opening the field

"I say we ready a task force dedicated to providing aid to the people of Donner Land, and at the same time we should focus our efforts on an investigation" Director of the Federal Intelligence Agency General Albert Genette suggested

" I second that your excellency, send a fleet to conduct this operation, I would advise opening dialogue and cooperating with the Britonians as they seem to have the largest foot hold in the province, plus I'm sure they can use the surplus of humanitarian supplies. We can ask them to help distribute our aid to the people while also set up our own, such cooperation might give us a hint as to their intentions. And the distribution of aid will allow us to help the native population and perhaps gain insight into the goals of the government to in question" Harling said as he turned off the projector and turned on the lights

To: Representatives of The Military Democracy of Britonia
Greetings, We in The Federal Republic have decided that the time for observation has ended and have decided that we must not sit by and allow the people of Donner Land and in particular those of the Frulia province to exist in such a state. We understand that your nation has currently dispatched a peace keeping force in the province and are currently making great strides toward restoring it to full functionality. We understand that you currently have a considerable foothold in the province from which you conduct your operations, we feel that it would be easier and more efficient for us to ask you to help the distribution of our aid for the time being in the areas that you have take responsibility of. We intend to send humanitarian aid namely, Food, Drinking Water, Medical supplies particularly those to combat contagion, clothes, and even small distractions for children.
We would also like to begin shipping building materials and supplies of that nature to help rebuild infrastructure. With all these supplies it is also our wish to send a team of engineers, construction workers and medical workers to help distribute our combined aid. Of course the teams of personnel we are sending are not part of the Atmaeran Military Complex but an independent Atmaeran peace Corp and will be subject to your authority. In the mean time the actual Atmaeran military will be beginning preparations for peace keeping operations throughout the country. Once these preparations are complete we will no longer have to soley rely on your kindness should you decide to grace us with it.

Back at the forward bases in saudi, the hambonian ground forces prepare to move into africa, more on the african campaign later..

The battle at sea was going quite well for both Atmaera and New Wondour, The Roman Fleet was in shambles and neutralized. However the fight against the Hambonians was just getting under way, but with just one ship inoperable and the other heavily damaged out of the eight destroyers, the Tenth fleet presses forward

The CIC phone began to ring, Admiral Everest who was looking at the grid square representation of the battle that tracked ship movement snapped out of his revere and picked up the phone "Admiral, Lieutenant Briggs here in communications, we just got a coded fax on what we've identified as a secure New Woundouran channel, we're currently decoding it with the key that was sent over to us a few days ago." the officer reported

"Very well make it quick, if that message is encrypted then it must be vital" The Admiral ordered feeling a sense of curiosity that began to grow quickly

As the battle outside the CIC raged it seemed as though The Hambonians would finally launched a retaliation, Sukhoi T-50 jets rushed in, the few that managed to slip past Atmaera's ariel barrier cap positioned themselves to launch torpedoes.

Since the Hambonian's chose fighter jets to launched their Torpedoes they would have to use specific angles and distances to ensure that their Torpedoes would hit their mark. To steep an angle and the torpedoes would sink below their intended targets, and two shallow and the torpedoes would be open to machine gun fire from point defense systems like Phalanx machine guns. Similarly if the Torpedoes were dropped from far off distances it would allow Atmaeran ships plenty of time to evade, and if Torpedoes were being dropped from closer distances the planes would be easily shot down. These problems existed as far back as the advent of Torpedo warfare, and it is why the use of missiles which are faster and safer have largely supplanted them in modern warfare. Even if Torpedoes were launched with perfect distancing and angles the plane would still be extremely vulnerable and with modern defenses a torpedo can easily be destroyed or avoided.

The Atmaeran fleet demonstrated just how outdated this tactic was in modern naval warfare. As the Sukhoi t-50's swooped in they were shot down by AA fire, as well as surface to air missiles. The attack runs also made their far more maneuverable T-50's vulnerable to Atmaeran Rafales during their attack runs. However in the events that the Hambonian airforces' persistence rewarded them with a successfully launched on target torpedo The Admiral, and respective ship commanders were trained to handle such weaponry.

"All ships initiate defense tactic "Scutter", if you are unable, use the trajectories of the T-50's to predict the course of the Torpedoes and evade them, should those fail utilize our sonic torpedo defenses" The Admiral ordered cooly, knowing full well the tactical error of the Hambonians

Defense tactic scutter was the detection of torpedoes via sensors on destroyers and other naval ships at which point such information was relayed to MH-60's which were deployed around the fleet to protect against threats like submarines and in this case torpedoes. After torpedoes were being tracked by they were attacked by the helicopters using scutter torpedoes


The sonic torpedo defense equipment would release barges of high pressure sound waves should any of the above tactics failed


As the Admiral began to focus on the battle represented in the grind squares once again he received a fax in the CIC from communications upstairs. Once he read the fax which was apparently sent over by Admiral Tucson of New Wondour he smiled and said
"They are outnumbered, out maneuvered, and growing desperate, either way New Wondour should provide us with some entertainment as to how they end this. Launch another missile barrage on their ships and have the formation press forward"
so this is the game they want to play, very well then I'll oblige, besides I'm interested in seeing what these new ships are capable of."
The Admiral grabbed the radio and said
"All ships call of the encirclement, Maintain Crescent formation"
"Sir, I thought we were going to finish them off!?"
"The Hambonians have two choices stand, fight, and be destroyed by ships currently sneaking up behind them, or make for friendly waters in which case they spring the trap anyway."

Military operation

24hrs after The Landfall of Atmaera's main army

The lone C-5 Galaxy flew high in the night sky at 35,000 feet flanked by it's four F-15 escorts. The planes were far above the notice of flak and AA guns that the rebels always had pointed to the sky SAM's were a different matter but, Atmaeran intelligence reported that attacks from these types of missiles would be minimal in the contested zone especially if operations were carried out at night as a quick flyby in secret.
" This is Moby two one to the Enforcer of shore we are beginning halo drop procedures" The pilot said as he radioed to the carrier of shore
"Hey Sthal, tell the boys we're ready to drop"he then said to his co-pilot

In the Cargo hold sat the 31st Pathfinder division and there Commander Michael Alenko, The commander sat with a map in hand, the map was a layout of central Abran and marked on it were what was believed to be enemy targets. He quietly studied over the map once more until...

Pathfinders, Attention Pathfinders we are 10 minutes to the drop point, begin final Halo procedures
" Alright boys get your gear, you know your tasks, and get together with your squad."
The Pathfinders gathered together grappling their equipments, their weapons, and their parachutes. The Commander was a thorough man, one of his XOs compared him to Santa with OCD. This catuion however was something his men had engraved into their own routines however, checking their equipment meticulously and their squadmates' parachuting rigs even more so.

The Cargo hold of the C-5 went dark and turned the shade of red, signaling that the drop was about to commence. The men lined up, after what seemed like the longest 5 minutes in history the light turned green and the cargo door opened wind and air rushing through. A stream of soldiers came out like clockwork each of their parachutes deploying. The Commander looked up and saw the C-5 and it's escorts turn from the more heavily defended Aristocractic airspace.

Grand Amry of The Republic's 5th Army FOB,
" Good to see that you've landed Commander Alenko, The Admiral just sent over the fax"
" Thank you sir The Brass sent us here to New Abran with targets everything that your own recon has sighted and High command's intelligence could spot. We'll be hitting our first one soon are the ships in position?" Alenko asked
" That they are they have been in position since we landed but they needed targets that's where you boys come in. We will be moving our troops in to grid Omega Charlie after you boys have the fleet soften it up so don't let us down" The Colonel asserted

It is now that the true task of the Pathfinders will be revealed. The Pathfinder divisions GAR are essentially a scouting unit, but at their core they are a special forces unit whose area of expertise ranges from Recon, Stealth operations against enemy entrenched enemy forces, and guerrilla warfare. The Pathfinders were sent from Atmaera not just to scout the enemy in secret but to mark enemy positions for naval and air strikes. The decision for their deployment came when it was concluded that General bombings of enemy territory was ineffective. However if targets could be properly identified and exact coordinates given enemy strongholds would be at the mercy of The Amtmaeran fleet and air force which alongside loyalist forces held hegemony over the two mediums, Air and Sea.

5hrs after drop of The Pathfinders; Aboard the Destroyer Pitomink of the 7th fleet
"Admiral Anderson here the first set of coordinates came in you are cleared to fire over"
"This is the Pitomink roger Admiral, your coordinates are confirmed launching missiles"

The Pitomink a Ticonderoga class Destroyer fired free tomahawk missiles, their target an enemy defense position in the Northern section of the contested zone.

Esteemed Members of the International Community, Citizens of The Republic, Just recently our State Department received a transcript from a declaration delivered by members of the "Furukuran Sea Anti-Nihonese front" The group's politics is of the far left, specifically they refer to themselves as Anarcho-Scientific Hyper-Socialists. Over the many years we as a nation have had much contact and relations with Government's, peoples and cultures who posses, pursue and value far more liberal ideals than our own. For many years we have observed such peoples who have interwoven leftist ideology into their very being some of these societies have prospered, some of these societies have failed, however we have had this experience with monarchies, Fascist states, Capitalist States, and even Republic's like our own Atmaera. The pattern repeats itself some rise and some fall. It could be argued that the reason for the varying success and failures of the different ideologies are due in large part and are based on the societies and cultures themselves. For instance a communist state placing a large emphasis on the distancing and eventual abolition on a major religion such as christianity. A deeply religious people would never give up their faith and will likely take up arms against the state thus resulting in the failure of that particular communist system. For an ideology to work their must be basic building blocks for to support that system, their must be compatibility. At the very least cultures who must undergo a metamorphosis in their politics for their own survival must undergo such change gradually and delicately these sorts of changes must not be forced. Which brings me back to the situation at hand this far left group fails to understand that their very way of life is completely incompatible with Nihonese culture and society. They conduct themselves as if the government of Nihon is forcing its right wing ideology on the people of that region however this could not be farther from the truth. Nihonese right wing politics and government is a direct result of a strong rich culture, Nihon exists as an embodiment of compatible ideology. These Socialist stand as an example to what ails the Marxist sphere, which is the self righteous and idealistic belief that all cultures and societies must bend to communism. This is the "red tide" that has plagued so much of the world today. These dissidents seek to force their beliefs on a culture that wants nothing to do with marxism, worse they wish to destroy it using barbarism and supplant it with their own. To this The Federal Republic of Atmaera herby condemns this socialist movement and brands them as terrorist and criminals. We wish the Nihonese people well in their endeavors to stamp out this movement and bring to them a swift justice. Nihonese leaders have assured the international community that it has this situation well under control and we are well inclined to believe them, However as a gesture of cooperation and support The Republic shall extend its hand to the Nihonese should they require assistance administering justice to these radical insurgents.

The rest joked and laughed jovially, with carefree grins plastered on their faces, "not a care in the world"she thought to herself as she twiddled with her thumb impatience ravaging her temperment as each second passed. She couldn't blame them though, Umbrella Company an 80 man unit based out of the old Government military base known as El Torro was an auxiliary meaning it had no frontline duties. Half of the soldiers stationed there though well trained had never even seen combat before the brewing war between the fueding Unionian factions seemed like a distant conflict to them even though they were they were stationed in a state relatively close to the front line as opposed to one like Calafornia. The most experienced and capable of the company were often transferred out onto other companies and units to fight on the front lines. In slight anger Milla thought to herself, what do they think we're glorified police officers " In fact that is exactly what the Umbrella corps had been reduced to passed over by command for real combat, to preform security patrols in Santa Fe, conducting secured supply shipments along one of safest routes M.S.R's in the Civil Bloc. Any real combat the company had seen was against ill equipped raiders from across the old Mexican border and domestic raider groups and those skirmishes were few and far in between. Looking at the merriment of the rest of the soldiers in the briefing room she decided she couldn't take it anymore so she turned her attention to the pitter patter of the rain smacking the ground outside. It was memorizing in a sense and had a calming effect on her it is the quiet in her mind that made her realize the joviality in the briefing room was reminiscent of her time with her family during the old days. She remembered having joking with her sister about the most trivial of things blissfully unaware of what was really happening in the world outside her gated community. It was this realization of the connection between the carefree of the breifing room and her childhood that gave her a sick feeling in her stomach.

"Commander on deck!!!!!" A soldier said sternly but loudly Milla immediately snapped out of her revere and saluted. Major Kirrahe entered the room a tall gruff looking man that sort of reminded the young lieutentant of Clint Eastwood an actor that appeared in old Union movies where he always played the hard ass 'take no shit' character. Kirrahe walked in and said " Is this a fucking Casino, you halfwits better get rid of those cards before I make you swallow them, and the next time I see them and ou're on duty you will! swallow them and consider it your rations for the day. " He then walked to the podium where he put his flash documents down and said "At ease, somebody get the lights" A Mexican raider group called themselves the 'Red Handed Bandits' have taken a Civil Bloc outpost near Columbus. The bandits killed our boys there and have launched a barbaric raid against the small settlement of Pancho Villa. Now the Brass is doesn't want to waste resources diverting heavy ordancnce to bomb the compound so we won't have any support on this mission. Umbrella is the only one on this at the moment. This is the first time that we will be carrying out an attack against the a raided group that is this well armed, prepared and dug in. Now I've went over the details of the mission with Lieutenant Stavro who will be leading the mission he'll be giving you a detailed mission brief in the hangar at 2200 hrs, dismissed"
Milla couldn't believe her ears Umbrella company was to finally get it's first real combat mission against a group that has been causing trouble along the Mexican border for years. As she walked out the room she The Major standing with Stavro looked at her and said "Lamperouge I want to talk with you and Stavro for a minute".
"Yes sir" she responded.
" You and Stavro are some of the best this company has to offer I have been pushing command for months to get them to involve us in real tasks. I see a lot of talent in Umbrella company but here you just sit on your asses wasting that talent jut because our our Auxillary status. That ends with this mission you two must make it your priority to ensure this mission succeeds, It'll not only ensure we get browny points from the brass but it will also show the goofballs in this company that this is not a game wer're playing" Kirrahe said
"Don't worry sir we've got this in the bag and we'll be back for breakfast before you know it" Stavro said with a wide smile
Milla looked at him and rolled her eyes, she always thought Stavro was an cocky son of gun
"Don't be to sure of yourself son may find soon enough that that attitude is gonna get you in trouble, prepare your squad and get your asses out of my sight" Kirrahe said shortly.

I am also curious as to how interventionist your nation would be. There is also the point that, the larger your country is, the harder it is to support your people. There is also the matter of internal divisions, infighting among your people, government, and military. No nation is a perfect, cohesive place.

I take no major issues with your application, however I feel like there are some questions regarding how well you would integrate into the region, that, unfortunately, cannot reliably be gauged until you actually are a part of the region.

I think it's fine to be somewhat vague in these applications, obviously you can't flesh out everything until you know where you'll be on the map and whom you'll be dealing with. So try to get on the ICR channel. But also have a good look at the map, it's linked to our world fact book. You wanted a temperate climate, so that's probably going to put you in the northern continent. Acrea, Shalum, Azurlavia, and Ossoria are all military powers in this region, as Shalum asks, how do you want to RP your nation in terms of its interventions?

The Kingdom of Delkora has a federal system of government, composed of five constituent countries that each retain their own monarch and regional governments. At the national level, the King is the head of state for the Kingdom as a whole, but as a constitutional monarch he holds little real power. The Delkoran Parliament is bicameral and composed of the popularly-elected Chamber of Representatives and the Chamber of Nobles, whose members are appointed by the prime ministers of the constituent countries. The Chancellor serves as head of government, and must retain the confidence of the Chamber of Representatives.

Delkoran culture emphasizes democratic principles and personal liberty. The Delkoran Constitution includes an extensive list of individual liberties guaranteed to all citizens, as well as numerous restrictions on government power. Delkorans themselves have a reputation for being kind-hearted, jovial people with a love of the arts and an interest in other cultures. Since the early 20th century, the Kingdom has started to become increasingly secular. Edvard Izengaard, the Delkoran Minister of State, proceeded into the negotiating room with an expression on his face that suggested heads were about to roll. And indeed, he was determined that they would. A lot of people were going to have to answer for the events that had transpired the previous day, the first of whom was going to be the man that now stood before him displaying a mask of sympathy.

"Mr. Izengaard, I wish to offer my sincerest--"

"Save it, Pyotr.""

Pyotr Dusan, the President of Ganzavar, looked quite taken aback. "Very well. Let's get straight to business."

"Yes, let's," Edvard retorted, taking a seat at the long oak wood table at the center of the room. He was followed in short order by several aids from the Ministry of State, as well as the Delkoran ambassador to Ganzavar. The group's bodyguards remained close at hand. Dusan and his aids took their seats at the other end of the table.

The Republic of Ganzavar, a former Delkoran colony, had declared its independence in 1972. After extensive diplomatic wrangling that at times nearly devolved into open conflict, the Kingdom finally withdrew its forces in 1975 with the signing of the Aldebard Accords. Relations between the two nations, however, remained rocky at best as disputes developed over provisions of the Accords that set limits on Ganzavar's military and trade policy, as well as provisions that required it to retain all debts it had occurred prior to its independence. War seemed inevitable in 1992, when clashes between police and Ganzavaran protesters outside the Delkoran Parliament building left five people dead and dozens more injured. Around that time, the Kingdom had become aware of a terrorist network known as the Ganzavaran Brotherhood, which was plotting attacks on the Kingdom. The current administration of Ganzvaran President Pyotr Dusan was widely suspected of supporting the Bortherhood, if not covertly arming it.

"At 4:37 PM today, Mr. Dusan, two bombs went off in a subway station in downtown Norenstal, killing 214 of my citizens. Now who do you think was responsible for this heinous attack?"

"I'm told it was carried out by members of the Ganzavaran Brotherhood."

"Correct. The Ganzavaran Brotherhood, which operates in your country, Mr. Dusan."

"If you are intimating that my country somehow aided in the attack, I can assure you that is not the case."

Edvard looked Dusan straight in the eye, unblinkingly. Chancellor Kryzer had instructed him to take the risk he was about to take, and it was a big one. If their suspicions were correct, it would prompt Dusan to implicate his country's involvement in the attacks. If they were incorrect, they would needlessly be deteriorating relations between the Kingdom and Ganzavar to 1970's levels. But either way, given what they already knew, it seemed inevitable that troops would be deployed into Ganzavar soon.

"Of course, of course. But what if, Mr. Dusan, I were to tell you that we have been wiretapping the Ganzavaran embassy in Norenstal?"

The look in Dusan's eyes as these words were uttered betrayed the truth. What Edvard had just said was completely false. They had not, in fact, been wiretapping the Ganzavaran embassy. But Dusan's reaction to this possibility had just given them as much information as they could have gotten from wiretapping the embassy.

"Is there something you want to tell me, Mr. Dusan?"

Dusan turned to one of his aids and whispered something. The aid then stood and exited the room.

"We are done here," Dusan said, standing.

"I hope you understand what the consequences will be If we can confirm that your country was an accessory to an attack on our soil."

"You should leave now, Mr. Izengaard."

Edvard did not budge. "You've made a terrible mistake, Mr. Dusan, and you are about to pay the price for it."

Dusan gestured to his guards, who moved to escort the Delkoran delegation out of the room. Their own guards stepped forward, prompting a veil of tension to fall across the room.

Edvard stood, followed by the rest of the delegation. As he strode toward the door, he looked back at Dusan and said coldly, "We are mobilizing our forces as I speak. I suggest you start cooperating with us soon, Mr. Dusan, or we may be forced to revoke your country's independence."

Politically, these rulers/monarchs are the highest authority in their respective states, a law unto themselves. They succeed to their respective thrones via enatic succession. Decisions at the federal level are generally made collectively by these rulers. There are, however, popularly elected representatives both at the state and federal level - these representatives are, in practice, the main administrators of Lirinya.

I do, indeed, have some concerns about the population. We discussed this a little bit last night, but I'd kind of like to see us move to a policy where requests for 200+ million population are considered case-by-case, on whether or not having a sub 200-million population forces an undue amount of changes for a given nation.

If nothing else, the lower end of the 200's million would be appreciated. That said, most of the rest looks fine to me.

Avyas is a small nation that lives in a very cold climate. The country is ruled by a king, known as the Vezyas in Avyasian (the language of Avyas). He is guided by a council known as the Kezyas, which is comprised of twenty members. The capital is Okolas, a city of some 167,000 people. It is not technologically advanced at all, with no electicity anywhere other than in several governmental buildings.

Many Avyasians live in the many towns and cities of Avyas. Most towns are built around a large central plaza which usually contains a stage and fountain in the center. Vendors are scattered all across the plaza, which is usually crowded by shoppers and citizens. Surrounding the plaza are two story buildings, usually made of wood and stone. The bottom story is a shop, while the top is a residence. Outside of that are one story residences and many other workshops, clothes maker, etc. Roads are very narrow, as automobiles are not very common in Avyas due to the constant snow and ice which makes them impractical. Towns and cities are very tight knit, with little space between houses. Larger cities have multiple plazas scattered around the city, providing for ease of access for citizens across the city.

Avyasian meals are mostly comprised of fish, buckwheat, and a variety of soups. The majority of employed men in Avyas are fishermen. The country has very extensive civil rights, but almost no political freedoms. The Avyasian military only consists of 500 men, and is a very elite and well equipped force with the goal of protecting Avyas.

Clutching his G36 rifle, the man continued down the street. His face was numb from the constant snowfall. The village was silent, with the exception of the wind whispering past the marching troops. He shivered, and he wasn't sure if it was because of the cold, or simply fear. This is it he thought. He knew that any second, gunshots would ring out. The question was not whether or not he would survive, but rather, how long he could last.

Several minutes passed. The patrol stopped to take a quick break. "Hey, could you hand me another scarf?" he asked his squadmate.

"Sure th-"

A bullet soared through the head of his squadmate. He immediately sprinted into a building along with several members of his squad. The enemy troops were attacking from over the hill outside the village. Peeking out the doorway, he took aim and fired at an enemy. He could hear the bullets cutting the air around him. He continued firing, until he finally saw his target fall. He rushed back behind the doorway. He stepped out of the doorway again, only to be met by a bullet to the arm. He screamed, falling back into the house.

"I'll-I'll wrap it" said a squadmate.

The bandages were tightly wrapped around his arm. They quickly turned red. He readied his rifle once more, and again peeked out the door. He fired three shots, killing two of the attacking troops. He began firing at another when he heard a scream. Looking back inside, two of his squadmate a had been shot. Both lay dead. He gritted his teeth, and continue firing on the enemy forces. Soon, he could no longer hear any more gunshots coming from the village, and only those from the hill. He searched for a friendly, frantically scanning the area from the doorway when he was hit in the stomach. Everything became black.

Brief Description of Nation (culture, society, politics, ect.):
Menassa used to be an ultra religious country with strong nationalistic and almost xenophobic attitudes. However, since the revolution the sway of religion on the people has become less legalistic and the common person can be seen as more obsessed with pleasure while still touting religious attitudes. The Architecture is similar to that of ancient Israel which incorporates much marble and Jerusalem stone with many flat roofed houses as well. Even the large business sector is detailed this way. Even though the revolution has removed some of the pressure from religious life many of the populace is still incredibly devout.

The three main positions of power were the King, the High Priest, and the Head of the Sanhedrin, however after the revolution all three of these positions were consolidated into one person. The Sanhedrin is the official legislature of the nation, the office of the King enforces all laws and declares all wars besides Holy Wars, and the office of the High Priest oversees the the Temple services/taxes/organization as well as is the Chief Religious Leader of the nation.
