United Finnian Ship Yards still WIP but open

Postby Finnian Bastada » Tue Nov 17, 2015 9:58 am

Welcome to the United Finnian Ship Yards, through our store front the numerous ship yards of the Finnian Republic are able to offer their products to the larger nation states global market. Due to our sells of some highly advanced military vessels sells of all military craft will be reviewed by the Finnian Ministry of Defense and may be limited to allied nations, however all of our commercial and private vessels are available for sell to all nations. We here at United Finnian Ship Yards look forward to your business.

Side note, this is still a work in progress I will be adding vessels and write ups to this as I have time

The Oregon Class Cruiser came about when it was realized the Finnian Navy need a class of vessel capable of Power projection when a Aircraft Carrier was not required or would make to much of a Statement. Oregon Class Cruisers provide an excellent platform for Anti-piracy patrols as well as Friendly port of call visits to allied nations with out tying up a Carrier battle group. Following the success of the original Oregon Class cruisers it was discovered that with the loss of the Big Gun Battleships a support vessel for Amphibious operations was needed and thus the Big Gun Oregon Class Cruiser was born.

While the Original Oregon Class Cruiser was very well armed planers in the Finnian Navy realized there is only so much damage a cruise missile can do and only so many cruise missiles a vessel can carry with this in mind it was decided a new vessel would be required many proposals where put forth including several "Arsenal ships" which where noting more than vessels covered in VLS tubes however the cost of such missile strike called for something other than missiles. Finally James Cameron a young navel designer came to the realization that a modernized 16 inch navel gun would make an excellent replacement for hundreds of VLS tubes loaded with numerous cruise missiles with a range of 90 km the Mark 9 navel gun can stay away from most shore based defense systems, enabling the Big Gun Oregon Class Cruisers to pound any enemy forces defending the beach.

The Mark 9 Navel gun is a 16"/50 caliber gun taking advantage of proven technology and the newest generation of automation to provide a devastating 6-8 rounds a minute with a range of over 90 km. The Mark 9 takes advantage of the auto-loading system developed for the Crusader Artillery system the Auto loader loads both shells and powder bags with out any human assistance and is fully capable of loading all 6 of the heavy shells developed for the Mark 9 gun as well as selectively loading the required powder bags to meet the requirements of the current fire mission. Just as the previous generations of heavy guns the Mark 9 navel gun keeps all shells and powder in separate armored storage facilities to improve survivability in the event of an attack. While the mark 9 navel gun was under development the Navel Ordnance Department began designing several navel shells for use by the mark 9 gun those include: Mk9 HE projectile, MK9 Armor piercing shell, MK9 Cluster shell, MK 9 star-burst shell, and MK 9 Chemical/Biological shell.

The Oregon Class Cruisers share a 80% commonality between the normal Oregon Class and the Oregon Big Gun Cruiser including a 100% commonality in the drive train and power-plant. The differences between the Oregon Class' to subclasses are obviously the addition of the 4 mark 9 gun turrets, however the Big Gun Cruiser also has half the VLS tubes that the normal Oregon Class Cruiser is equipped with, the Big gun Oregon is equipped with 4 Mk 12 Artillery tracking radar systems for improved navel gunning accuracy and improved counter battery fire, and finally since the Big gun Oregon operates closer to shore than the original Oregon class the Big gun Oregon is equipped with additional layers of Titanium battle plate and advanced ceramic armor.

The Warrior Class Family of Destroyers came about at the same time as the Oregon Class Cruisers and Norseman Class Frigates. Designed by Finnian Nautical Design to be a completely modular platform able to be customized to each missions specific needs, the Warrior Class destroyers are designed to perform both Anti-aircraft and Anti-submarine roles with specialized modules able to be installed during construction or at a shipyard during a overhaul for maximized performance in the selected role, a third type was developed combining some of the sensors from the ASW Warrior, and the AA Warrior while the multi-role Warrior destroyer is perfectly capable in both Anti-air and Anti-submarine missions it lacks some of the more expensive mission specific sensors. Warrior Class Destroyers where developed to escort Carrier/Amphibious battle groups however the Finnian Navy has begun using them as Merchantmen escorts as well as anti-piracy patrols.

The Noresman Class Frigates came in to being in 2004 when it was decided that the Finnian Military would need to become self reliant in matters of defense as such a competition for a new class of Frigates was issued to the top Ship yards in the Republic. The Norseman Class was designed to perform a minor Anti-Air vessel however she is at heart an Anti-submarine Platform equipped with the latest sonar arrays. Including two hull mounted arrays and a TS-123b Towed sonar Array featuring Low and High Frequency passive arrays. Norseman class frigates come with hanger facilities for 1 MH-60R ASW helicopters, and 2 MQ-8 Fire Scout for shore patrol missions and fleet security missions.

In recent Years Norseman class Frigates have become the most common class in the Finnian Navy found in Carrier battle groups, Amphibious battle groups, and Escort duty for merchantmen. Norseman Class are also the smallest vessel of the Finnian Navy that regularly operates overseas and independent of a main surface combatant group.

Finnian Navel yards was approached by several senior members of the Finnian Navy for a advanced conventional powered attack submarine submarine for use as a shore patrol submarine freeing more of the Finnian Navies SSN's for overseas duties. The Monitor Class was further developed in hopes of being an export model for Allies with a need for submarines but lack the Financial ability to purchase the Newest generation of SSN's.

The Monitor Class hull is made of titanium and covered with rubber tiles to further reduce any internal noise as well as absorb some of the sound energy caused by Active sonar. To Make Monitor class more appealing and completive with nuclear powered submarines 8 VLS tubes where added to the initial design furthering the striking power of the Monitor class.

Monitor Class submarines are conventionally powered by a Ford 16V 396 diesel-engine, however to further increase submerged performance an Air-Independent-Propulsion System has been added making a cruise of 3 weeks while submerged entirely possible. It is important to note that unlike previous fuel cells the flammable gases for the AIP system are stored between the pressure hull and the outer hull, then when needed piped into the pressure hull and the AIP system making fears of fires almost unfounded. While operating on batteries or AIP Monitor Class submarines are almost impossible to track acoustically due to the lack of reactor noises, and greatly reduced machine noises when added to the non-magnetic hull design Monitor Class submarines have been found to be almost impossible to track while operating in optimum conditions.

The boats have extensive equipment for special operations, including a floodable escape hatch capable of deploying eight combat swimmers and their equipment. When combed with the 12 missile VLS system and the increased stealth that the AIP system provides has given Monitor an impressive multi-role capacity making the class perfect for any navy looking for a cost effective alternative to a modern nuclear powered attack submarine.

After many war games and conflicts with the Improved Seawolf Submarine it became obvious that even though the Improved Seawolf was an excellent Attack Submarine there was still room for improvement and as such the Tigershark SSN was born. Tigershark can be considered an improved Seawolf Block IV however the Finnian Navy considered the improvements great enough to warrants classification as her own class of submarines. Tigershark class submarines are equipped with many of the same features so instead of listing all of them I will only include the improvements.

Tigershark is equipped with the newest generation of natural circulation reactor power system making Tigershark SSN's increadably quite when operating at low power, however the new S10G reactor has been designed to perform at the highest performance spectrum of any submarine reactor yet designed by General Electric's in fact the new S10G power-plant provides Tigershark with an increadably high burst speed of over 45 knots (even though burst speeds produce loud acoustic signatures the quick bursts of speed allow tigershark the ability to out run many wp designed torpedos). Other improvements include 2 more VLS tubes for increased striking power, in addition a new version of the AN/BSY system has been installed into Tigershark, finally Tigershark has been equipped with an additional Towed Sonar Array providing additional detection ability.

Taking advantage of the latest developments in submarine technology the Tigershark is the next step in the evolution of Finnian Attack Submarine. Tigershark continues the long tradition of excellent naval designs by Finnian Navel Designs.

ARCI Modified AN/BSY-3 combat system, which includes A-8c spherical sonar array, W-8c wide aperture array sonar, and the new TS-123a towed-array sonar system featuring both high and low frequency passive arrays.
Crew:124 (35 officers, 89 enlisted)
Cost:4 billion

History: The Revenge Class came in to being in the mid 90's when the Finnian Navy realized there current fleet of Oscar II's was falling below the curve and soon would be out classed, with that in mind the Finnian Navy approached the Finnian Navel design Bureau to upgrade the exsiting Oscar II's and layout plans for a similar class of SSGN's based off of the highly successful Oscar II SSGN's and such the Revenge Class was born.

Construction: The Revenge Class continues to take advantage of the Oscar II's Double hull design, a twin hull composed of HY-100 for the outer hull and Titanium on the inner hull for increased diving capability. The revenge class is capable of diving to over 3,000 ft and with the increased durability of her double hull and titanium inner hull she has a drastically increased survivability level. It is important to note the previous Oscar II class submarines had a issue with the outer hull making excessive noise at high speed (due to improper anchoring of the outer hull to the inner hull) this issue has been seen to lowering the acoustic signature significantly, as well as strengthening the entire submarine and increasing survivability even when confronted with modern advance capability torpedoes. Acoustic signatures are further reduced by the application of 100mm thick rubber tiles to both insult the internal crew and machinery noise and absorb some of the energy produced by active sonar further increasing the Revenge class' stealth ability.

Armament: As in the previous Oscar II class the revenge class retains the VLS tubes running along the conning tower on both sides, however with the use of the smaller yet more powerful LG Defense Systems Tiger Shark Cruise missile and the increased number of actual tubes the Revenge class submarine is capable of carrying 56 cruise missiles in the VLS system alone, of course the Revenge Class SSGN also has six 660mm torpedo tubes and enough internal storage for 42 torpedoes or missiles. the 660mm tube is capable of launching several types of ordnance including the mk48 ADCAP torpedo, Harpoon missiles, Tomahawk Cruise missiles, and several other ordnance systems.

Reactor and Drive System: The Revenge Class SSGN takes advantage of the S8G reactor designed for the Ohio class submarines. Each Revenge Class is equipped with 2 of these reactors allowing for impressive burst of speed while keeping a significantly low acoustic signature compared with that of the previous class. The S8G reactor is capable of utilizing natural circulation which is capable of operating at 55% power without reactor coolant pumps again significantly reducing the acoustic signature as both reactors operating at 55% power is able to move the submarine along at 20 knots. In further effort to reduce the acoustic signature of the Revenge Class SSGN uses 2 pump-jet propulsion systems in place of the Oscar II's props the benefits of such a system are Increasing the speed before the onset of cavitation, because of the raised internal dynamic pressure, and Protection of the rotating element, and Noise reduction, resulting in a low sonar signature.

Sonar and other systems:The Revenge class submarines are equipped with a bow-mounted spherical active/passive sonar array, a wide aperture lightweight fiber optic sonar array (three flat panels mounted low along either side of the hull), as well as two high frequency active sonars mounted in the sail and keel (under the bow). The submarines are also equipped with a low frequency towed sonar array and a high frequency towed sonar array. Revenge Class submarines take advantage of the advanced ARCI Modified AN/BSY-2 combat system (developed for the Seawolf class SSN) increasing the combat effectiveness of the Revenge class SSGN while reducing the number of crew needed to operate the fire control system. It should be noted that as in all Finnian Submarines the Revenge Class submarine is capable of simultaneously deploying eight combat swimmers and their equipment.

Cost: 7.8 billion dollars

The Belfast Class was developed after the Tiger Shark SSN proved to be quieter than the Ohio class SSBN/SSGN submarines as such it was decided to produce a domestically designed ballistic missile submarine. The Belfast Class like the Ohio class she replaced can be set up as a SSBN or a SSGN/Special forces support submarine. Belfast has been equipped with the latest in quieting technology and literally appears as a hole in the water when running at a normal patrol speed of 12 knots.
The SSGN conversion of the Belfast Class turns two of the missile tubes into mission modules for Special operations and turns the other 26 tubes into VLS tubes for up to 182 cruise missiles

Important message to United Finnian Ship Yards

The New Metropolitan French Navy is currently engaged in an arms race with our rivals. Our existing Aircraft Carriers have been outclassed by our opponent's latest design, and as such we would like to order one Arch Angel Class CVN now, and order another of the same type in a few months after the NMF Government releases it's annual defence budget. We ask that payment for each vessel be paid in half prior to the ships construction, and half after the ship is ready for us to receive. We are aware that the Finnian Ministry of Defense may wish to assess this purchase, and as a result we will be entering talks with them regarding a non-aggression pact. We hope that you accept our offer.

Sincere Regards,

NMF Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius

After careful review your order of a single Arch Angel Class Nuclear Carrier is approved. Per your request 8 billion NSD is due prior to construction with the final 8 billion due prior to delivery, Your carrier will be built at the Treasure Island Naval Yards in San Francisco Bay if you wish to send representatives to over see the construction please feel free to do so. Once your defense budget is released and you are ready to begin construction on your second carrier please notify us so we may begin immediate construction on your second Arch Angel class. We look forward to our future business relationship and if we may, a carrier can be a tempting target to ones enemies we recommend that carriers operate with escorts usually a cruiser a few destroyers and frigates and 2 submarines if you are interested in any escorts please take a look at what we have to offer.

To whom it may concern,

The NMF Navy thanks you for serving us, and we may indeed order escort vessels in the near future. 8 billion NSDs will be transferred to a bank account of your choice immediately. It would be our pleasure to send some of our Naval Officers with previous experience on the existing carriers to oversee the construction of the vessel.

We have full confidence in the quality of your builders, and the abilities of the Arch Angel class will make a fine addition to our fleets.

Sincere Regards,

NMF Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius

I would like to buy 2 Moniter Class SSKs. I will pay 691,000,000 NSD for them. The NSD will be in the form of gold bars.
This submarine is just what I was looking for. A small, silent, deadly, and cheap alpha submarine. The ones I am buying now are only for testing. Once they are proven (I highly doubt the will fail.) I plan an purchasing a total of 30. Though keep in mind that i will not purchase them all at the same time, rather a few everyday. (Well technically every year in NS.) Do you happen to be devoloping any fast attack boats?

Your order of two (2) Monitor Class SSK's has been approved, the submarines will be available almost immediately as we had a allied nation recently cancel their order due to internal upheaval and a severely limited defense budget. We are more than willing to help train your men on the use of these highly advanced submarines so that you may get the most out of them. As per your inquiry into fast attack boats I would point you towards our Tiger Shark class SSN the most advanced attack submarine in the Finnian navy capable of both high speeds 45 knots and almost silent operations (not at the same time our engineers still haven't figured out how to beat the laws of physics yet) With 14 VLS tubes and 8 torpedo tubes she can hit hard and disappear as your enemies frustrate themselves looking for you. If you however are hunting larger game, such as carriers or capital ships I would direct you to our Revenge Class SSGN truly a monster of the deep. Please advise me as to how we can further assist you in your naval needs.
Sincerely,
Brian O'Connel President of Foreign Sales

Thank you for your cooperation and offers of help. How how much money and long will it take to train the crews? As pertaining to the Tiger Shark class SSN, at the current moment our budget can not afford to buy such an effective piece of hardware.
I am interested in your Oregan class Cruiser. It's unique ability to provide long range and continuous support for amphibious operations could make it an invaluable asset for my 2 amphibious assault ships. Is there anyway way one could be constructed without my nation paying for the entire vessel upfront? Christeria would pay for the vessel by yearly payments, each should be 500 million NSD. When the payment is finished, I would commission the vessel to my fleet. Is this an acceptable method of payment? I would also like to send over the necessary personal needed to operate the vessel for technical training. They, of course, would be payed for.

The Protectorate of Christeria would like to purchase another 2 Moniter Class SSKs. We will pay 691,000,000 NSD for them.

The previous "batch" of Moniter submarines that we purchased far exceeded the tests. Since the Christerian population has grown along with its military, the naval force is in desperate need of a larger submarine fleet to defend itself and possible allies. So with your permission I would like to purchase additional submarines.

For future reference, would it be possible to modify the Moniter Class SSK to carry cargo? But would also have to retain the ablity to carry atleast 20 torpedoes. (counting those in the torpedo tubes.)

Sincerely,
Cyril Vectis, Protector of Christeria

Important message to United Finnian Ship Yards

The Royal Anastian Navy is currently engaged in increasing our defences. Our existing coastal defence ships have been rendered outclassed by our neighbours latest design, and as such we would like to order two Norsemen Class ships , and with an increase in purchases after funds have been released through its annual defence budget.

Regards,

His Highness King William I.

The Protector Cyril Vectis of Christeria,
As always it has been a pleasure to do business with your great nation. You asked about a Cargo carrying submarine and more specifically whether or not the Monitor class SSK could be modified to carry cargo in order to answer that question we must know more specific information such as the type of cargo you wish to carry how much of said cargo and what sort of shipping container if any you are wishing to use. I believe you could remove the VLS missile system and gain a small cargo capacity I must check this with my Engineering staff, I do know we have been looking into a cargo option of our Derry Class SSBN/SSGN were the missile tubes are removed and a large internal cargo deck is created. Please let us know more information as to the cargo type and the shipping methods used.

Sincerely,
Brian O'Connel President of Foreign Sales

His Highness King William I
I have over viewed your econmy and upon review find that the Defense budget of your nation is not enough to cover two frigates, as such I suggest a Down payment of $140 million NSD of 10% of the total purchase price for the two frigates, with your 10% down we will be able to begin construction of your Norseman Frigates, the following ten years a payment of $150 million NSD will be due on or before the 17th of December. Your Frigates will be delivered upon completion and your personnel shall be trained to operate the Norseman FFG. It is important to note failure to pay or late payment with out prior agreement does cancel our agreement and forfeits your ownership of said vessels. If this meets your nations and your approval please sign the included documents and return them with your down payment of $140 million NSD

Sincerely,
Brian O'Connel President of Foreign Sales

To Brian O'Connel, President of Foereign Sales,

My apologizes for not being specific. The purpose of my inquiry is to find out if it would be possible to make a submarine "blockade runner". In the case that Christeria is blockaded we would need to import certain munitions and possibly supplies. The munitions it needs to be able to carry are primarily different types of missiles, JDAM bombs, etc. Since your submarines are practically a "hole" in the water to passive sonar and to degree active, they seem ideal to carry the munitions undetected.

Sincerely,
Cyril Vectis

To whom it may concern:
The Republic of South Derpingham is in an arms race with our northern counterpart and communist dictatorship, The People's Republic of Derpingham. As a young nation created through war, we have little military strength. We do however have funding to invest in the Republic Navy.

We are looking to acquire:
3 Arch Angel Class Carriers
6 Essex Class Anti-Submarine/Escort Carriers
9 Belfast Class SSGNs
9 Belfast Class SSBNs
18 Oregon Class Landing Support Cruiser/Big Gun Cruisers
18 Oregon Class Multi-role Cruisers
27 Warrior Class DDs in multi-role configuration

If training could be provided to our troops on how to operate these vessels, that would be wonderful.
Thank you,
Representative William Richardson

Representative William Richardson

upon reviewing your order we have found a minor discrepancy, your defense budget is
$289,102,231,365.75
that being said we cannot approve an order where you exceed your entire military budget, however we are willing to help you by offering a loan in the amount of 347.7 billion, you must make a down payment of $47.7 billion NSD and then a payment of $55 Billion NSD each year for the next 6 years. Failure to make payments will result in the loss of assets and black listed from all Finnian military suppliers. If this agreement meets with your needs please notify us as soon as possible. Ships will begin construction once first 10% down payment is forwarded to United Finnian Ship Yards, you will also be allowed to send over crews to begin training on existing vessels of the same classes as your purchase free of charge as we believe your crew must be able to operate their new vessels to their utmost abilities. I look forward to your response
sincerely,
Brian O'Connel President of Foreign Sales

Mr. O'Connel,
I'm so sorry, it seems we have miscalculated our budget (OOC: Didn't realize how much I was buying before). In order to account for this, we would like to change the order to:
1 Arch Angel Class Carrier - 16,000,000,000
3 Warrior Class DDs in Multi-Role Configuration - 3,900,000,000
1 Oregon Class Multi-role Cruiser - 2,900,000,000
1 Oregon Class Landing Support Cruiser/Big Gun Cruiser - 3,400,000,000
1 Norseman Class Frigate - 732,000,000
1 Tigershark Class SSN - 4,100,000,000
1 Revenge Class SSGN - 4,000,000,000
TOTAL= 35,032,000,000

Thank you and sorry for the discrepancy,
Rep. William Richardson
