Alrighty... for those only skimming my stuff:

    Twenty minutes later...


    The villagers capable of moving under their own power spent a few last minutes thanking Residents as they shuffled through the Lobby and out the front door. Most were aghast to see nothing but ash ("Oh my god, where are my sheep?!") but the thought of returning home was enough to spur them onward.

    The critically wounded had been sent to the dining room where Ogoti made rounds (he'd sent Sandy to the kitchen to see about tea, although this was simply his way of making sure the man took a minute to rest after his magical efforts). These people would leave last, most likely escorted by Residents curious about the village. A call had been put out, and some Residents (such as Myra and Torii who, having seen Kale safely to her apartment, had taken to haunting the Lobby) had gathered in anticipation of it. Everyone had been advised that a Residents Meeting would occur later in the afternoon.

    And so it was that the last of the villagers found themselves preparing to move out - those with foreign limbs now had limbs that resembled their own parts, plus a bit of a memory wipe - and a table was cleared so that Ayla, Giovenith, Sandy, Septimus, Minerva and Ogoti could have a nice chat.

So, if you want your characters to explore the village, put them in the lobby.

Torsi, I added Myra and Torii to the lobby because I wasn't sure if Carly would be able to post.

Weekdays are casual due to work, classes, etc. RL comes first, and I'm a stickler for players getting their coursework done.

I foresee a quick Q&A thing between Sandy, Giovenith, Sep etc. We'll move to the Resident meeting shortly after. Players will have several options to keep them busy, or they can set out on their own to explore.

1. Gotta replace that burned grass. Kale could be handy here.
2. Gotta replace those burned sheep. This is a question to the Freywold. Lots of magic, lots of mischief.
3. Gotta get villagers home. Gives players a chance to see the village.
4. Gotta restock medical supplies. This gives players a chance to see the big city.
5. Gotta get Nila back to the Building. Bran and Marcus and Varona will be doing that. Others can pitch in if they'd like.

Mon, I don't think Swith remembered your OOC request regarding Varona. Have your character approach Marcus and she'll get tucked into that story.

Okay, I should have mentioned this earlier... Ogoti's clinic has guards and Thaddeus will promptly remove intruders because Nes is a Nifid construct. The Nifid are viral. If she loses control, it's a contagion situation. So, as a safeguard, no one gets in. Ocho's physiology protects him somewhat, and Thad is a virologist who has worked with the tech before and has his immunizations, so both are somewhat safe (Cer hopes. Muahahahaha I should just infect them both and be done with it. "Roll up a new character, dude!") Sep has a little bit of immunity because his body is freshly cloned from a construct. Cer's been hoping Sep tries so Thad can deck him if he gets too insistent. :p

Edit: okay, I'm just gonna ask Cer to let me slide on this one so things aren't all kibbled and weird. It's easiest.

Primary Objective: Dan is here in a ‘fact finding’ mission, but what the Courts know to be exile. Why that is so remains unclear, as most fae that face exile usually switch allegiances or die before entering the mortal world. He is somewhat aware of the political reasons for his exile and taken his ‘mission’ in stride.

The defensive side of him (if Dan is angered) can create temporary constructs for a myriad of uses. The range of his ability does not extend beyond the size of a living room: large enough to affect a small group; for larger areas, his illusions would only serve to distract and divert. Dan doesn’t focus on the defensive or offensive potential of illusions, preferring to use his ability in conjunction his second hand of power, healing.

OPTIONAL SUPERNATURAL CHARACTERISTICS

Power Level: 5
Strengths: Regenerative healing, enabling Dan to withstand exposure to cold steel and iron better than other fae. Can heal others, albeit a little slower due to restrictions noted below.
Weaknesses: Cannot heal fatal wounds, advanced-terminal illnesses, or bring back the dead
Restrictions: Dan’s healing ability is, by default, regenerative. Being a Summer fae, the Spring and Summer seasons react better to Dan’s power, enabling him to heal others efficiently. However, during Autumn season his healing power wanes while the Winter season will revert his ability back to its default, significantly reducing his ability to heal others.

BACKGROUND

Character Background/Biography: Dan is one of very few born in the Seelie Court in almost a thousand years. Hope and elation spread through the Summer Court and many saw this as the salvation they desperately needed in the waning power of the Seelie Sidhe. Once his powers were recognized, the old nobles of the Summer took it upon themselves to tutor and mentor him in his ability; though most had ulterior motives to their humble tutelage. Sensing danger that some nobles would take further advantage of his powers, the Queen sent Dan away into the moral realm on a ‘fact finding’ mission but what most know to be as exile. He is not entirely cut from the Summer’s grace, however, and Dan enjoys a modest stipend and runs a business [Haven] that Aurora believes to suit his powers.

Since his time, Dan’s managed to be on friendly terms with a few of the residents, though there are many he has not been acquainted with. He has had sporadic contact with Aurora, who let slip that he may be the last descendent of the Celtic god, Dian Cécht, though this remains unsubstantiated. He has even had some contact with Mab, the Queen of Air and Darkness, who currently also resides in the building, but he has done his best to keep his distance (though it doesn’t stop the Queen from showing up every now and then). Dan would admit he misses the Summerlands, but this is only half true as he’s gotten used to living among the others. Given the opportunity to go back, Dan would likely ask to stay instead.

Primary Objective: His original goal was to re-establish a normal life, that’s since dissipated with recent developments in Bielefeld. Hunter knows and experienced persecution first hand. While there is movement within the city to stamp out abhuman prejudice and persecution, Hunter believes the movement hasn’t been active - or effective - enough. He’d like to see (radical) change and is willing to do what it takes, even if it means turning his back on friends and allies.

Secondary Objectives: Given the new surroundings, Huner will entertain the notion of a possible new life, but his worries for those left in Bielefeld still trouble him.

Strengths: Ability to see near-perfectly in the dark/at night without the aid of flashlights or other tech.
Weaknesses: Oversensitivity to bright light, can easily be blinded. Depending on the intensity of the light, it could cause permanent blindness.
Restrictions: The corrective procedure to look more human did give Hunter the ability to withstand bright areas/sunlight slightly better than most Nevidians. This does not make him impervious and Hunter keeps a pair of sunglasses on him at all times in case the exposure to bright light becomes too much. Prolonged exposure to bright areas without sunglasses can cause severe headaches.

BACKGROUND
Education or Training:
Character Background/Biography: Hunter Evans is a Nevidian males whose real name is Teero Anjar. HIs current appearance is an altered version, originally Hunter had completely blue eyes, white hair and extremely pale skin susceptible to severe skin burn from exposure to sunlight. He was a bartender who led a simple, quiet, life in a version of London humbled by economic depression and poverty. Eventually he became a member of the Resistance (made primarily of Nevidian sympathizers) that fought against the HGV: a political human extremist group who blamed his race for the city’s woes. Hunter didn’t choose to raise arms, he was thrust into it with a need to survive. It started with a riot that swept through the ghettos, as rampant violence engulfed the neighborhood and quickly escalated from there. He tried to escape the city unnoticed, instead he found himself defending his fellow Nevidians who became targets. His few attempts to flee the city with others were constantly curtailed, either by the HGV that secured all entrances/exits to the city, or by the Resistance who promised freedom but failed short in their many attempts to evacuate all non-combatants.

Initially, Hunter didn’t share the Resistance values as he (like many Nevidians) did not condone violence of any sort. That soon changed as too many of his kind were being put down like sickly animals and who wouldn’t fight back no matter the consequences. He eventually took arms, joining the Resistance as a full member and learning along the way from cell mates and leaders whose expertise in urban warfare and terrorism provided invaluable to Hunter’s survival. Whereas others were itching for a fight against HGV at any opportunity, Hunter excelled in stealth and reconnaissance, using night and darkness to great effect as (like many of his race) were able to see in the dark without aid of night vision or flashlights (such equipment was never readily available). Due to his altered appearance he was able to blend into city areas controlled by the HGV, often reporting back activities of the enemy. Hunter would carry on for another three years, both as scout and participant in some of the heaviest engagements against the HGV.

Eventually, a new political body overthrew the oppressive regime; laying down the foundation for a more stable and government. Much had been destroyed, values compromised, and heavy weight was lifted off Hunter’s shoulders when the Resistance was disbanded. He took the opportunity to leave the city, wanting a new beginning and to bury his past.

He settled into Bielefeld, a hopeful start among stranger beings than himself and found it to be his liking. The city had potential and it was here Hunter thought he could finally leave the past behind and start anew: friends, adventure, even notions of someone special to come home to. He was wrong. The city was facing similar issues with bigotry and racism, abhumans facing growing prejudice and resentment along with a secret police that targeted beings with supernatural powers. Not wanting to be pushed into another conflict, and still seeing ways to avoid all out violence, Hunter volunteered to be part of the Underground, aiding in evacuating families or key figures quietly or sent to scouting as his more human appearance placed him above reproach from the all-seeing eyes. With the building Resident actively forming groups ranging from public to political, it seemed as though peaceful change was a possibility. But it wasn’t enough, or at least in his opinion, as the momentum to change the population’s sentiment was lacking. Hunter was frustrated by the slow action, but said nothing, convinced it was part of a bigger plan that he only had a small part in.

That was until he met a man on a bus, who shared and sympathized with Hunter’s view of swift action rather than breaking down the opposition in degrees and levels. The middle-aged man offered Hunter an opportunity to join his group, made of abhumans who thus far had slipped from notice and would work to undermine the current government and foment conflict to achieve its goals (what those goals are remain unclear). Hunter has given the offer some serious consideration, and should they return to Bielefeld, resolves will join this group... even if it means turning his back on his friends and allies.

Age: appears 35 (true age unknown, except Cherry)

Appearance: Anais stands about 5’8”, rather tall for a woman. She has pale skin, straight dark brown hair and eyes, with soft Eurasian features. Her outfits are usually adorned with bones, chitins, ornate beads and decorations, making soft sounds with every movement heralding her arrival. There are several esoteric tattoos that cover her forearms and abdomen (when exposed), but these are for situational purposes and can be easily removed at any time.

Primary Objective: Anais primary goal is to facilitate and establish relations with other individuals (or groups) with the Guild, per orders of Alexia - the guild leader. Essentially the voice of the guild, Anais is the first person most people will meet.

The Restoration line of magic primarily deals with healing with a few preventative/protective spells that ward off conditions, malignant curses/hexes, and direct attacks. It excels with larger groups, but can focus upon individuals in a pinch. There are a few spirits tied directly in Restoration, the higher proficiency in Communing, the longer the being will remain (see below).

OPTIONAL SUPERNATURAL CHARACTERISTICS
    Ability 1: Communing: Summoning ethereal non-corporeal beings (often referred as ‘spirits’) from the ether that exist for a limited time. When used together with Restoration, it potentially doubles the effectiveness of Anais’ healing skills, managing a group with efficiency. The boons of these spirits affect anyone within its radius. Some spirits are defensive in nature and does not (directly) compliment itself to restoration.
    Power Level: 6
    Strengths: Synergy with Restoration Magic, able to heal or provide defensive benefits for large groups. Also contains a few spells and rituals meant for defensive purposes.
    Weaknesses: The Communing line offers few actual spells, most of which are too costly to cast and often overlooked in favor of other cost-effective Ritual magic spells that do a better job. Summoned spirits cannot be moved, and only last a limited amount of time. No same spirit can exist at one time, nor can they be raised immediately again after returning back to the ether (basically, a recharge time). As such, Anais must take care of what spirits to raise in a given situation.
    Restrictions: Like all other members of Dwayna’s Vigilant, Anais’ power is derived primarily from her faith. Her magical ability is tied to her devotion to her patron god, Grenth - the God of Death & Ice. While many would consider this antithetical, it is because of her connection to the dark god that enables her to connect to the ether and her ancestors. Another cost to her power comes with her own life force: a few of her ritual summonings demand sacrifice, by blood or by life force, some are minor as the benefits far outweigh the price, but the stronger the spirit or ancestor aid/blessing, the higher the cost which can weaken Anais severely.

BACKGROUND
Education or Training: Trained in Shing-Jea Monastery, studied in the Durheim Archives, communed in Tahnnakai Temple.
Character Background/Biography: Anais is of Luxon descent, a traditionally nomadic sailing people forced into landlocked lifestyle when the sea turned into pure jade, freezing the waters and trapping their gigantic ships as well as all life underwater. Her family did not stay with the Luxons, preferring to keep in motion, never staying in one area for too long. Needless to stay, the ritualist has a wealth of knowledge and often shares it in stories if given the opportunity. Her travels with Dwayna’s Vigilant came by incident, as she and her companion - Cherry - had stopped at Lion’s Arch who fell under a Charr siege just two days after their arrival. She joined the guild after assisting them in a counter-attack against the charr and was offered a spot within the group. Claiming that her travels would prove more interesting, she agreed to join. Immediately, many in her group took a liking to her and Alexia (the guild leader) often sought the Ritualist’s counsel. Because of her calm demeanor and graceful personality, Anais has since become the guild’s diplomat.

OTHER GAME MECHANICS
URL to Apartment Picture: Wizard Isle. Anyone entering will find themselves in courtyard. Anyone leaving the guild hall will find themselves in the hallway of the apartment door they entered through. There are no special wards that protect the guild entrance, only a simple enchantment to alert Guild members of new arrivals to welcome.

Her magical talents are mainly devoted to healing, though able to go on the defensive (indirectly) if forced to do so.



Dwayna’s Vigilant: Approved by Cer for abbreviated apps
These characters stay within the guild hall/Building, they may venture out as support and for plot advancement purposes. Only OP and fellow Co-OPs can use these NPCs. Anais is the only tool-character within the guild, as such OP/Co-OP can also use her if necessary. The roster:

  • Alexia Conrath - Monk, founder and leader of Dwayna’s Vigilant
    Age: 30
    Appearance: Image
    Background: A native Ascalonian, Alexia is the leader of the guild. She comes to Bielefeld in search of allies or, failing that, a new home for her and her guildmates. A seasoned veteran of combat from prolonged fighting against charr invaders, Alexia has maintained a cool detachment to those not of her guild and a very protective (almost possessive, some would say) of those within it. Being a healer first, Alexia would be prone to being emotionally drained from the plights of others, but years fighting the charr have hardened her to accept losses as bitter consequences of war. Alexia’s patron god is Dwayna, the Goddess of Life & Air. Special items include scepter and focus.
      Ability 1: Healing Prayers
      Power Level: 6
      Strengths: Can heal individuals rapidly, even from near-fatal wounds or conditional terminal illnesses
      Weaknesses: Dependent on personal endurance when casting spells, cannot raise the dead, cannot restore missing limbs, does not do well in large groups as it will expend all her energy quickly.
      Restrictions: Alexia must prioritize who to focus on when healing, she cannot deviate/jump from one person to the next rapidly. Her faith is her power, but her physical fortitude is what makes her magical abilities effective. Without it, no amount of faith will enable her to mend the injured. LIkewise, a lack of faith diminishes her magical abilities (though this is rare). Alexia has a few group healing skills, but these are costly.
      Ability 2: Smiting Prayers
      Power Level: 5
      Strengths: A good mix of offense and defense spells, works exceptionally well against the undead, has a few efficient spells that can be used without tiring Alexia too much. Can augment an ally’s offensive capabilities or redirect damage.
      Weaknesses: Can be restrictive as some spells require pre-planning and/or have a high energy cost to cast that outweigh any benefit, some spells are too situational to be of actual use.
      Restrictions: Same restrictions in terms of faith and physical burden. Also, more than half the spells require an ally to target to take full advantage of its holy wrath. A few area of effect spells require precise timing, a high energy cost, or having the enemy too close for comfort.
  • Traxt Affinity - Elementalist
    Age: 33
    Appearance: Image
    Background: Born in Lion’s Arch and raised by eclectic parents who gave him his hideous name, the elementalist took an interest in elemental magic at a young age. His parents sent him to Nolani Academy, in Ascalon, where he taught by some of the most experienced mages. Trax is a natural with fire and air magic, able to switch between the two with ease, though he prefers to focus/utilize one in a given situation. Traxt is a man of few words and prefers to keep to himself most of the time. Underneath the grouchy persona lies a person very much protective and loyal. Traxt’s patron god is Balthazar, the God of War & Fire. Special items include staff and headpiece (to better focus on fire or air magic).
      Ability 1: Fire Magic
      Power Level: 6
      Strengths: Spells affect a large area, excellent in taking down groups at a time.
      Weaknesses: Large energy cost, exhaustion is a key factor for Traxt to be wary off. The more potent the spell, the more energy it drains the elementalist, too much could result in death. Some beings are resistant to fire, limiting his offensive capability; water magic is especially useful against fire.
      Restrictions: Like the others, faith imbues him with power, but his physical condition ties to his ability to cast spells.

      Ability 2: Air magic
      Power Level: 6
      Strengths: Focused singular lightning spells, some support skills to aid him or allies, able to stun or blind the enemy. Less energy intensive
      Weaknesses: Cannot target more than one person at a time. Less energy requirements means Traxt can cast these air spells faster, but that also means he’ll be exhausted far quicker. More than a third of air magic spells cost exhaustion (despite its lesser energy requirement).
      Restrictions: Same as above.
  • Cherry Valentine - Mesmer
    Age: she won’t tell. Young, late 20s, early 30s
    Appearance: Image
    Background: Cherry was born deep in the Echovald Forests of the land of the Kurzicks, a nation in the distant lands of Cantha. Born under House Bauer, Cherry grew up appreciating the arts. She was hardly concerned about the ongoing conflict against the Luxons, the Kurzicks traditional enemies, or the political dancing in Cantha’s royal court for which House Bauer assumed responsibility on behalf of their nation. Instead, she traveled with several independent groups and guilds that were considered neutral and tolerated throughout Cantha (even in Luxon territory). It was in her travels that she met Anais, and the two would become fast friends who sought to explore the world of Tyria together. Cherry is a very independent woman who is a social, overly curious, and has a passion for art and culture (the decadent type at any rate). She prefers to keep out of fighting, though this doesn’t mean she’s incapable and most pay the price for underestimating her. Being a part of D.V., Cherry has come to respect others and finds that she cares for them more than she’s willing to admit. Cherry’s patron god is Lyssa, Goddess of Beauty & Illusion. Special items include sword or scepter with a chakram-focus.
      Ability 1: Domination Magic
      Power Level: 5
      Strengths: Suited against magical practitioners, meant to disrupt, deal direct damage, or siphon energy in the form of ‘hexes’.
      Weaknesses: Weak against physical attacks, has no guarantee of working (player or plot dependent).
      Restrictions: As a Mesmer, Cherry is highly dependent on a given situation to support her guildmates and hinder her foes. Most of her powers are (essentially) pysch-based. Domination, while powerful is weak against physical attackers (unless hexed with Empathy); likewise Illusion is less useful against magical attacks (unless hexed with a powerful Conundrum spell). Cherry needs to plan accordingly in order to fulfill her role. Unlike the elementalist, however, she can run both Domination and Illusion magic (just not all spells).
      Ability 2: Illusion Magic
      Power Level: 6
      Strengths: Suited against physical based attacks, meant to hinder, slow, divert, distract or deal direct damage in the form of ‘hexes’.
      Weaknesses: Weak against spell casters, has no guarantee of working (player or plot dependent).
      Restrictions: Please see above note.
  • Erick Dresner - Dervish
    Age: 32
    Appearance: Image
    Background: Erick is the ideal holy warrior that imbues the powers of earth and wind to call forth a swath of destruction. His spells are are quick-cast enchantments that are meant to be stripped for greater effect when used with his scythe. He is a front line fighter and often pairs with Reyna as the duo work smoothly together. When not in combat, Erick can often be found maintaining shrines to the Five Gods in the guild hall; his simple faith in them sustains him even through the most difficult of times. Despite devoting himself to all Five Gods, Erick takes solace in his faith in Melandru, Goddess of Earth & Nature. Special item is a scythe.
      Ability 1: Scythe Mastery
      Power Level: 7
      Strengths: Able to take down multiple targets utilizing scythe with quick-cast enchantments
      Weaknesses: Not as effective against single targets. His robes do not provide adequate protection and dependent on quick-cast enchantment for defense.
      Restrictions: Scythe is a two handed weapon, prone to leaving him exposed.
      Ability 2: Earth Prayers
      Power Level: 5
      Strengths: Mix of offensive and defensive quick-cast enchantments to aid Erick in battle.
      Weaknesses: Enchantments may not always be sufficient protection against harm.
      Restrictions: Physical condition and/or lack of faith will cause the enchantments to fail completely.
  • Reyna Farris - Warrior
    Age: 30
    Appearance: Image
    Background: Reyna Farris is a fierce and proud warrior. She doesn’t hesitate to enter a fight, often charging with sword and shield. She often argues with Alexia and Traxt over tactical and strategic decisions, attributing to the philosophy of a strong offense as the best defense. Reyna can be seen training constantly, but has recently taken up meditating at the insistence of Anais. The warrior’s favored god is Balthazar, although she has whispered a prayer or two to all other gods (influenced, no doubt, from Erick). Special items are sword & shield, armor.
      Ability 1: Swordsmanship
      Power Level: 6
      Strengths: Excellent against single targets.
      Weaknesses: Weak against multiple foes
      Restrictions: Human and all the inherent weaknesses to it.
      Ability 2: Tactics
      Power Level: 6
      Strengths: Excellent for defensive purposes with shield, able to block, dodge or absorb incoming damage with minimal effects
      Weaknesses: While Reyna can fight with a sword, her other tactics are useless without a shield, cutting her defense by half or more.
      Restrictions: Requires a shield.

    All members of the Guild are human, with all the inherent weakness and limitations thereof.

Does the mechanism work in different realities? If so, there might be a chance, but this is basically a powerful deity's random spacetime bubble, so I would guess improbable.

I hold my CoOPs to higher standards. I was irked that you suggested I handwavium Nes to health just because Brit left her shit in the clinic and playing out the struggle would overly complicate Mon's life. Then I read through the thread and realized you had in fact had Neste biosink her exo. The tether between Sep and Nes is there but she shut the door on him, presumably to spare him from hearing the sequences unfold, similar to what happened between Gavin and Noa? No Sep, no Scel, no struggle, no contagion-

-no complaint when Kale's grass compromised your character; unquestioning compliance when I asked you to heavily damage her in order to ramp up the situation for an epic battle; no tears when that battle was called off; absolute trust that you'd have a chance to play out the struggle and possibly salvage Nes though it meant she'd be isolated for a short while. Now I read, "can you just let Nes go quietly?...avoid more complications."

It's none of my business if you want your character to die however, given that I asked you to place her in such a precarious position for sake of crafting an intense story, I can not sit here and agree to it. She is your favorite character. She's gone from malicious cuntfuck to inquisitive and gentle. It wasn't overnight. It was a finely played transformation occurring over time and between several role play games. Her propensity for torture forced Graham to password his board to prevent minors from being subjected to obscene material yet, years later, here she is in PL -- passionately reaching out to Sep to reassure a fellow monster that forgiveness can be had if only he accepts it.

Neste is Epic! You don't kill off Epic! easily -- You enshrine it.

Make no mistake. I intend to find a way to kill Neste. Her death will be fittingly glorious, a white-knucking-the-mouse-while-scrolling moment that leaves us breathless and grieving. Not today, however. She gets a free pass. And, dear Swith, she gets it because her writer cares more about the PL family, everyone's feelings, and harmony than she does about a steadfast character.


I said "I hold my CoOPs to higher standards". It's time I held all players to higher standards. Write what you mean and stick by it. Ripples. Daily life (which we personify each time we log in and allow our characters to experience something) has challenges and pitfalls. We misspeak. We make mistakes. We do stupid things that we later regret. We anger people. We go about our day one minute at a time and it's not always wonderful. Conflicts arise. Conflicts make us stronger. Don't have your characters run from the challenges, and don't whinge because something isn't going your way and you think it's "not fair". Life is never fair.


I'll sort the clinic/weapons issue after dinner.

No access to bank accounts. He's not in his dimension/universe.

I'm still factoring the ability to use phones. There are communications on the planet however it isn't the same as what we have/had in Bielefeld. For now, no, there's no phone service. That's a good goal to work towards.
