No, just a terrorist state. The Assad clan won't be able to hold power for much longer anyways, and we aren't going to have another Shah on our hand.

A stable state is better than a failed democratic state.

And who shall we support? The FSA is lost; the game is over for them. Even if we or Assad had given them power in the end we would have another Libya in ours hands thanks to glorious Barack...

It's going to be another Libya regardless on whither Assad wins or not. With large amounts of the country likely to remain in the hands of ISIL and other insurgent groups for some time to come.

A failed dictatorship which has no popular backing and which is likely to remain unpopular, propped up only by a foreign power (Russia), is even worse than those two options.

So we should side with a government that clearly has no popular legitimacy?

And then why are people that still fighting for this regime? Christians & Shia muslims fight for him due their fate is sealed with this "regime" due all the others want to have them ousted in whatever term you want to use.

This argument of 'support Assad fur da' people!' always amused me a bit (even as someone who doesn't want the US involved with the Syrian civil war as much as it is currently), because it tends to come from the folks most prone to condemn America's past and present support of government's without a lot of legitimacy merely because they were stable or safer than the alternative.

May I remind you that thanks to the USA they supported the Taliban to fight against the SU and it was the same Taliban the US military had been fighting(until last year as the force has been transitioned into a peacekeeping one) for a decade. Do we want this to happen all over again? Thanks to the Iraqis military incompetence(which the US army trained, funded and supplied) they have now lot's of modern tanks, aircraft and other dangerous weaponry.

ISIS are not the Taliban, they are a state with a military arm as well. A soon they finish with Syria and Iraq they try to move either to Iran or Turkey. If they go to Turkey I can assure the greek army will run away as soon as they are near the border....

Because instead of focusing on ISIS like they claimed they would Russia has been attacking other opposition groups to help prop up Assad's regime.

Assad isn't "killing everyone". Syria has had democratic elections, and the opposition got angry and started to rebel. That's how it started.
