Urbem Thalassa, also shortened to Thalassa, is an offshore floating city on Pinnacle. It is composed of multiple hexagonal semi-submersible floating modules that are joined together by specialized locks. These modules can disconnect from each other should rearrangement be necessary. If all the modules are connected in a hexagonal shape, Urbem Thalassa's size sits at around 5.5 kilometers in diameter, and it has a population capacity of 370,000 inhabitants.

The modules of Thalassa are manufactured mainly in residential, commercial, industrial, and office types. These modules measure 250 meters in diameter. The city also has smaller rectangular dock modules for water craft, each of which are joined to a side of the hexagonal module that has at least one side bordering the sea. The floating structures can separate and use independent engines to help it propel in any direction away from perilously turbulent waves. To protect the city or separate groups of modules from the impact of waves, energy shields are utilized.

Should the city or any separate modules remain in place, ocean anchors are lowered to the ocean floor to stabilize it. Usually Thalassa will anchor at lagoons or bay areas, as open ocean can be risky for the city's stability. The main anchor, which is connected to the central module, acts as an elevator to the sea bed. The lift connects to a mobile caisson for miners to transport minerals to the floating city for raw materials.

Most residential modules consist of twenty to thirty high-rise apartments, although there are a few notable ones with that contain neighborhoods of over a hundred houses with their respective land lots. Commercial modules contain fifty to a hundred commercial spaces, which are used by storeowners in exchange for a special business permit given by the Thalassa City Council. Industrial modules have space for five to ten factory buildings, and office modules have room for fifteen to thirty office buildings.

There are also specialized modules that are made for Thalassa's self-sustenance, such as four desalination modules to provide the population with drinking water and sixteen aeroponics and food production modules to provide the city with a sustainable food supply. Each module takes advantage of two redstone reactors which provides power for electrical consumption and for engine propulsion for fifty to sixty years. Waste produced from the city is taken to special pontoons of each module, where they are broken down into basic compounds to recycle them in the future. Supplies to the floating city are transported by freighter shuttle, which arrive at Thalassa every ten days. To defend this vital line of supply, the Perseid government has assigned one light gunship, which is docked at Thalassa's military outpost module.

As the Star Community doesn't use the monetary system, trade with other nations has and will always depend on the goodwill of their neighbouring nations. Additionaly, the Star Community is somewhat hesitant to establish settlements on planets or other habitats already claimed by other nations, not out of distrust of other people or even xenophobia, but simply to avoid territorial disputes and because few other nations share the genomitans' stance on the environment and their preference of self augmentation over terraforming. It was for these reasons that the Star Community of Genomita chose to establish Oovahn in the Gemini belt. Here genomitans, both the transhumans that are usually associated with the term and members of other species who have become citizens of the community work to ensure harmony with the other habitats of Liu Xiu. They primarily do so by mining the asteroids for minerals other nations consider valuable but which are of little use to the organic technology of the genomitans and trading them for food and other things they need, as well as providing an opportunity to acquaint oneself with the genomitan way of life.

Oovahn itself is a comparatively large beehive habitat, it's tunnels dug in a purposeful manner to maximze available space without compromizing the asteroid's integrity. While one might imagine the insides of such a habitat to be largely bare, Oovahn is actually quite habitable. Most of the interior is covered in plant matter similar to the insides of genomitan bioships, vines and organically-grown signs of different colors facilitating orientation in the tunnel network. Some of the other asteroids surrounding Oovahn have been converted into terraria, their insides largely hollowed out and terraformed and equipped with thrusters as well as a brain like the one genomitan bioships have and sensory organs to perceive their surroundings, allowing them to (very carefully) maneuver through the gemini belt and functioning either as mobile mining bases, shuttles or places of relaxation.

As the security fleet does not respond to distress calls from the belt the genomitans of Oovahn have taken it upon themselves to look after those who get stranded there. Groups of genomitan spacers equipped with long term life support augmentations which allow allow them to gain oxygen, water and even nourishment from the carbon gravel and ice surrounding them (though it doesn't make it taste any better) regularily search the areas outside the security fleet's patrol routes for castaways, living or dead.

Oovahn's staff also contains a number of envoys who handle diplomacy with the other nations within liu xiu as well as a member of the high council, who spends most of hir time here. As the Star Community has yet to receive permission from the ones in charge of liu xiu to establish a farcaster gate near liu xiu prime, travel to and from other genomitan habitats is slow.

The LXMA also wishes to remind the Star Community that the establishment of an Enclave so far from the heavily inhabited sectors of the Liu Xiu Special Economic Zone does not grant or entitle the Genomitan Star Community to special privileges, be they social, economic, or political within the Gemini Belt.

Dawn's Light is one of the first notions of Varagothian participation in foreign initiatives such as the Liu Xiu Special Economic Zone. Dawn's Light is one of the Gemeni Belt's large asteroids that are in orbit amongst the others. Several mining facilities have been constructed on the asteroid along with infrastructure to support life in the enclave which currently the mining workers and their families inhabit Dawn's Light along with the Enclave's Imperial Guard detachment armed with light weaponry and two Divine Eagle gunships.

Hello and welcome to the June thread update of the Liu Xiu project!

The newest change to the project has been the addition of the Liu Xiu News Network, a thread where all players with Enclaves and Outposts within the Liu Xiu system can post their own little current events, or react to major events going on within the Liu Xiu system. While I keep the specific to the new thread's FAQ, please keep in mind that major news events that affect the entire system have to be run by me first.

The second major change is that the gas giants Kappa and Lambda have had their names changed to Kythira and Paxos in order to fit the larger 'Greek' theme of the system. They've been updated in OP, but it's on everyone with stuff there to change it in their Enclave/Outpost descriptions. For the sake of easing confusion there will be a disclaimer in the planet descriptions saying that there were once named Kappa and Lambda.
The final major change is the update to the Liu Xiu 'map' in that I have added a volcanic moon in orbit around Kythira (Kappa) for players looking for a more rough and tumble and exotic place to set up Enclaves and Outposts on.

The final change is that the OP now has a proper 'intro' or 'mission statement' before jumping right into the FAQ. Looks better this way.

Description of your Claim: The Gravitas Free Zone is a Scoutmind, a five kilometer long exploratory vessel, modified to serve as a trading outpost and diplomatic center. It has the shape of a teardrop, with the payload on the wide end and the drive module on the opposite end. Most of the computer banks designed to run the Transcendancy's digital citizens, as while as most of the fuel tanks, have been replaced with hotels for organics, capable of hosting up to 30,000 people at any one time, along with parks and general recreational areas. The scientific payload bays, meanwhile, having been replaced with large centers for trade and tech expos between civilizations. The fusion drive module is still attached, though most of the fuel tanks have been replaced with living space, but is generally only used for small orbital adjustments. It currently has 105 kips of delta v available and can accelerate at up to five gees.

For defense, the craft's communication phased array can also be used to direct lasers, though the maximum power level has been severely toned down to two dozen gigawatts to abide by the rules of the zone.

Description of your Claim:

Ananmuukitsa is the Gata'ja Enclave in Liu Xiu as well as the center of the terraforming project that the Liu Xiu Administrative Authority has contracted them to do on the moon of Pylos, the moon of the gas giant Kythira. It is located in the north-central equatorial region of the moon, situated in the middle of the upper half of the moon, but still close to the equator. Ananmuukitsa contains an area of around 6 kilometers total, of which 3 of that is the actual facility, the rest being the land around that is considered Gata'ja territory by agreement with the LXAA.

The facility is a mixture of arcology, embassy and terraforming center in one, and its construction reflects this fact. A massive tower dominates the structure,which is the Nsanja Tower, or in more general language, the Administrative Tower. The Elder in charge of this operation, Mthunzi, resides in this tower, and it is here and his personal team of advisers, experts, and scientists reside working on the terraforming project, as well as conducting experiments seeking to improve and expand their capabilities in terraforming.

Around the Tower, in a circle, there are the four complexes making up the Gata'jan embassy: the Moyo Quarter, where the Gata'jan staff live as well as luxury suites which have been prepared for any delegations from other nations, or the LXAA, should they come and need or wish to stay for a period of time. Then the Kubadwa Quarter, where the majority of the terraforming research, animal breeding and genetics research and development are conducted. Off-limits to all but Gata'jan officials, especially as new developments to aid with the continued development of Pylos.

Here we have the Kukambirana Quarter, which is where the main embassy lies, the majority of the staff working here to maintain relations between the Ammudzi and its many allies, enemies, and neighbors in Liu Xiu and throughout the galaxy. In fact, it serves as the main embassy for the Gata'ja, who do not enjoy having strangers in their territory, or many visitors at all really. This one is the largest quadrant, due to the left empty space for nations who wish to request embassy space to maintain contact with the Ammudzi. The last quarter, Dzanja, is the starport, where all traffic in and out of Anamuukitsa goes through for ambassadors, traders, scientists, cargo, outbound resources and test samples, etc. There is almost constant flow of traffic in and out, especially as the complex is being established and work is being done on the moon.

The facility is also expanding, due to the increased resource extraction and processing and the linking of bubbles over the surface of Pylos, as they expand their terraforming efforts. The bubbles are managed and owned by the LXAA, but the Gata'ja are manning them as part of their contract. The whole complex is a mixture of piping and ingrown plant life and animals, with finely crafted walls and the bubble shields which help keep the pounding lightning storms and weather out, increasing the durability expectancy of their facilities. The facility is also guarded by a specially trained force of two hundred Mlenje, armed with light weaponry and armor, who maintain security, escort non-Gata'ja personnel and conduct patrols and excursions to their various sites on the moon. In space, there are two Chitetezo-class frigates that defend and patrol the facility, escorting traffic in and out and working with the LXAA.

Description of your Claim:

The ultra-wealthy plutocrats of the Union often seek to escape the normalcy and expectations of their homeworlds, many spend their time on resort worlds within the Union like Amman or Epsynnia, but the richest of the rich seek their solace outside of the Union. Billions of credits can be spent on private villas and resorts for corporate executives and their compatriots. The Enclave dubbed Palisade Cove is the ultimate expression of that trend. A privately funded paradise open exclusively to the rich and powerful.

The resort was first proposed almost 2 years before the transfer of power in the SEC, after permits cleared with the new government initial construction began. The plans were drawn up so early as a way to draw in investors for the Aluxian Luxury Services initial start-up. This ploy proved to be a success as the funding that poured in not only helped to jump-start Aluxian Luxury Services' operations at large, but enough was left over to purchase and develop the future sight of Palisade Cove.

The facility comprises a artificial lagoon and island constructed on top of a massive sea spire, the entire thing surrounded by a holodome to project the preferred weather and scenery of the guests. The island has a total area of 6 kilometers, almost entirely covered by dense jungle with a thick band of soft, white sand surrounding the entirety of the island. Shaped like an elongated crescent, the geography of the small island is dominated by the semi-active volcano that created it, the sharp cone dominating the otherwise flat landscape. A few small creatures live on the island, but since the development of the resort introduced species that fit the idyllic visions of the clientele have dominated the island. Introduced species include Birds of Paradise and Epsynnian Rainbow Birds.

The resort itself is a complex of flowing white structures hugging the inside bend of the crescent shaped island. The architecture of the buildings is consistent, with a large aquatic influence. The central structure which serves as the spaceport and housing for the support staff, as well as the restraunt, hospital and small store. Its built in the image of a twisting conch shell, wrapped around a central pillar that serves as the communication hub for the resort. The outlying buildings are built in the shape of waves, with a singular large window letting in light off the beautiful cove. At the terminating edges of the cove are the boathouses and spa facilities. The generators and spaceport are contained farther down in the spire structure, with storage, logistics and a large mall also contained within the spire.

Guests can enjoy eco-tourism, scuba diving, wind-surfing and quick access to the surrounding worlds where they can buy and sell the luxury products that originally attracted the attention of the Solar Cooperative Unions' wealthiest citizens.

Description of your Claim: The Hypercapitalist Federation uses methane as its primary fuel sources for non-FTL travel, making it a key natural resource. Many Zundrinen methane mining and refining corporations are interested in mining the atmospheric methane present on Paxos.

The New Freedom Station will be located in orbit around Paxos and mine methane from the surface by means of vessels that travel at sublight speeds, known as "scoopers." These scoopers will gather methane in gaseous form and turn it into a usable product through liquefaction into Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). From here, LNG will be transported into the New Freedom Station and packaged for sale and transported on vessels capable of superluminal speeds to customers.

The New Freedom Station will consist of an orbital facility that employs around 6,000 workers, with roughly 3,500 workers being employed in the actual methane services, from maintenance personnel to chemical engineers and an additional 2,500 contractors to serve the needs of the methane employees. Furthermore, the New Freedom Station will utilize around 30 scooper vessels, who will operate in three fleets of ten and rest at the thirty docking stations that the Outpost has to offer for the methane carriers. An additional two docking stations will be available for superluminal methane carriers, which will take the LNG produced from methane to its customers.

The New Freedom Station plans to process around 563.6 mmtpa (millions of metric tonnes per annum) of liquefied natural gas. The project will be owned by the Möbilgas Corporation. Electricity will be provided through a system of combined cycle (for base load electricity) and simple cycle (peak load electricity) in the outpost, which will burn LNG that has been regasified.

The New Freedom Station will have five tiers. The lowest two tiers will contain docking stations for Scooper vessels, with each tier having five docking stations each. The lower tiers will transport LNG to the fifth and highest tier, in which it will be picked up superluminal vessels, who will carry it to the customer. The third tier will contain a combined cycle and simple cycle plant, which will produce electricity for the rest of the station. The fourth tier will contain employee facilities, including a cafeteria and rest areas.

Description of your Claim: Essinaar Station lingers in orbit around the ice giant of Paxos. A diplomatic initiative launched by the Crux to become more entwined with the extensive nature of Gamma, and to increase economic and diplomatic interests in the Artemene Dominion itself. Following the fall of the Betrican Federation to the Crux, and their subsequent annexation thereafter - Crux ships have become more frequently encountered or seen between their home quadrant of Gamma, and their new foothold in Alpha.

Essinaar's construction became a furthering of this policy to extend their reach and influence to other neighbouring states. Some calling the end of the Long War, the Golden Age of the ascension of Crux power as it solidifies itself in its little nook of the galactic neighbourhood. The Station itself is a testament to the hopes of the Crux, with six rings attached to a long spire, and a docking port for the two lightly armed corvettes. A large, exuberant hotel and business complex called the 'Crown', mounts the top of the station - there to receive and greet trade ambassadors, and with ample room and leisure to easily accommodate them.

Two of the large rings are the storage bays for the station's supplies that it requires to sustain itself, with frequent visits from Crux vessels to continually ensure they remain. Another two rings for the housing of the thousands of workers under the watchful eye of the Esinaar Warden, those who ensure everything from the reactors being well fed - to the spotless furbishing of the exquisite offices in the 'Crown'.

The final two rings are the large observation and retreat decks, capable of tending to every need of a foreign diplomat as they lounge quietly in the solitude and happiness of their drinks and leisure - whether it be in the gentle confinement of a quality library, or the window decks with the astonishing view of the Universe, or perhaps the many small vibrant clubs of music and pleasure.

With the station, resides the many outcropped docking bays - where fuel, resources, and other commodities necessary for travel are provided for passing vessels. Crews work around the clock to ensure that docked ships are fuelled, repaired, and cleaned prior to their eventual departure - and with them, the ability for guests to enjoy the same luxury fit for ambassadors and kings in the many lower retreat decks while they wait. From clubs, to bars, to housing and quality service, Esinaar Station will be the crown jewel of Crux diplomacy.

Description of your Claim:

Fastigium Lux is the Holy Immortal Star Dominion's attempt on a place outside of the Varagothian systems to establish the location of a monastery. The monastery in question is one that contains a small community of clergy members of the Sacred Scripture of Haraldus and a Cardinal to represent the Enclave as part of the Holy Immortal Star Dominion. The Enclave is located perched atop one of Jiwaos formidable towering mountains in which a pass in which people can travel up the mountain to reach the Enclave have been paved. The most noticeable feature that many will see when first coming across the Fastigium Lux monastery enclave would be it's formidable architecture which has the monastery's appearance seem castle like with high walls and small towers perched on each corner of the monastery's walls followed by a more bigger tower in height which perched on top of the tower would be a large cross.

The clergy members who inhabit the monastery enclave are rather mysterious yet wise in their own ways. The clergy inhabitants are mostly middle aged to near elderly although the more elderly have cybernetic augmentations to assist them in living more longer lives. Their cardinal who's personal quarters is in the top of the highest tower is a highly religious man who would put his faith in the Sacred Scripture of Haraldus before his own life if he absolutely needed to. Other features of the monastery are the multiple banners and portraits of the current Imperator of the Holy Immortal Star Dominion, several altars and a shrine are located about the enclave with the shrine being at the bottom of the mountain pass which would be the first thing any visitors would come across, a clergy member would greet them here and when not busy would usually be praying to the shrine.

Description of your Claim:
Gemini Center is a small city typical of Alexzonyian designs, with the expected large open areas and strict height limitations that decrease clutter but increase sprawl. The city is supposed to be built on a grid, but as usual a variety of circles, parks, and other design features make the grid more a guideline than a rule when it comes to getting around. Fortunately, a high-speed hyperloop subway system is being installed that promises to finally cut down on the congestion both on the ground and in the skylanes of Gemini Center. On the upside, once you're off the streets, the parks and even miniature forests that dot Gemini Center can make you forget that you're in a city at all. The same can be said of the city's beaches, whose only fault is that they tend to be overcrowded during busy season. The city's population is highly-educated and highly-skilled. This is partially because the main industries in the city demand cognitive competence, and partially because the GRA is trying to make a good impression on foreigners who are otherwise unlikely to make their way into GRA territory. The GRA's tourist industry would certainly appreciate success on that count.

The city is an educational, cultural, and trade center. Though it has a large warehouse district, it lacks internal manufacturing facilities; goods offered for trade are manufactured in other parts of the GRA. Gemini Center's primary objective is to facilitate the GRA's integration with the galactic community and act as an catalyst for the establishment of diplomatic and trade relations with other powers. The University of Alexzonya - Gemini Center is located here; the University is a branch campus of the GRA's largest public university, and has a particular objective of having 50% foreign enrollment within 10 years of its establishment. Economically, discussions are underway about the feasibility of an orbital elevator system and the creation of an outpost to act as a stardock for larger freighters. This hasn't come to fruition, largely due to the central government's reluctance to fund infrastructure development outside GRA space. The city also can serve as a gateway to the GRA, for the multitude of nations that as of yet lack a GRA embassy or consulate.

The current spaceport is home to a variety of commuter and light commercial spacecraft to facilitate trade and cultural exchange. However, the Alexzonyians have faced war too many times to leave their citizens unprotected, and a series of three armored hangers hold 12 F/A-4 Gladius Fighter-Bombers, which are responsible for the defense of the Center's airspace. The GRA considers these assets equivalent, roughly, to the 2 corvettes or gunboats usually used for local security in Liu Xiu. The 400 Marines of the 12th Company, 3rd Division, 5th Army are stationed in Gemini Center as well, located in 5 small fortress-like structures. A small array of shield projectors round out the city's defense, intended to buy enough time against orbital attack for Liu Xiu authorities or the GRA Starfleet to respond to any incidents that occur. At the insistence of Liu Xiu authorities, plans for two batteries of Surface-Launched Longbow Anti-Ship Missiles were scrapped prior to the enclave's establishment. Hello all and welcome to the end of August!

If you haven't been keeping up with the Liu Xiu News Network thread, now would be a good time to bookmark it, or even better, get involved yourselves! IT's been a crazy summer of pretty big events within the Liu Xiu star system, but the biggest event is no doubt the "Wildfire Season" collection of stories on the Compendium, namely The Firebrand, Firewater, Handle With Care, and last but certainly not least (and the one with the farthest reaching effet on the system), Babylon Burns.

And also because of those stories, the Liu Xiu emblem in the OP has been temporarily changed to reflect In-Character stuff, but if you don't like it, you don't have to put up with it for a long time. This is just something fun.

Again, if you haven't bookmarked the Liu Xiu News Network thread, I highly encourage that you do because it's a easier way to keep up to date on major events happening within the star system and is a place for all members with Enclaves and Outposts to either talk about stuff going down in their little places or reactions to these large system events. If you have an Enclave or Outpost, you are free to post IC 'advertisements' for your own threads that might be happening in Liu Xiu (barring major system events that move the 'story' of Liu Xiu forward or events that violate the stated rules of the thread such as invasions, etc) or your nation's reaction to major news events whenever you want!

Remember, Liu Xiu is still a sandbox for everyone involved in it, and it has really been great seeing people getting out there and using the system as it was designed to be used!

Description of your Claim: Station Liu Feng is to be the premier (and likely only) installation the Swarm submits for delivery to Liu Xiu. As a multirole station, SLF will provide infrastructure for diplomatic, economic, and scientific endeavours.

The station - superficially resembling a mushroom with a domed module supported by a thinner docking stem - will chiefly be comprised of three sections - the Aural, Social, and Economic areas.

The Aural area - comprising the uppermost three decks of the dome - will contain computing equipment, transmission and multiplexing equipment, and sensor suites. This area, while under the influence of gravity, will be not be kept Baseline Habitable, both to conserve resources and to allow it to instead be maintained under optimal conditions for computing. This will provide the main trunk relay between Swarm Clients (and others) in the Liu Xiu system and the overall Swarm Collective Network.

The much larger Social Area will consist of pressurized, habitable modules, with enforced artificial gravity (1 G standard) throughout. It will further be subdivided by deck into the Commodities Market, Trade Market, Information Market, Recreation, Diplomatic, and Residential quarters. Each quarter will be equipped and furnished in such a way as to be optimally useful for its stated purpose. Use of vehicles will be limited to the lower three decks - the upper decks will have regulated mass transit systems. In addition to residents from other nations and races, the Collective will have some 1,300 resident Clients (occupying about 5,000 resident frames) aboard the station.

The Economic area, kept open to vacuum, will consist of the docking stem and a few foundries for ship repair and service.
